Kim Kardashian Tries on New Jewelry in Paris Years After Robbery

Nothing holding her back. Kim Kardashian was not afraid to show off a little bling while visiting Paris for the first time since her 2016 robbery.

“@mrkimjones lacing me with that new @dior jewelry,” the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 37, wrote alongside a photo of herself trying on a lavish Dior bracelet on her Instagram Story Thursday, June 21.

Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in her Paris hotel in October 2016 as thieves gagged her and stole more than $ 10 million worth of jewelry. Ten suspects were arrested in connection to the crime in January 2017 while another suspect was taken into custody in April of this year.

The KKW Beauty founder reflected on her return to the City of Lights on her app Friday, June 22. “I went back to Paris to witness Kanye‘s BFF, Virgil Abloh, make history with his first collection and runway show for Louis Vuitton during Mens Fashion Week. It was such an emotional trip!” she wrote. “For me, it was the perfect time to come back to a place where I fell in love, but also a place where I suffered great trauma. The trip was actually only 12 hours because right after the show, we had to fly home for Teyana Taylor’s listening party the same night!”

She continued: “Emotionally, I feel calm. I’ve truly put the experience behind me, and have learned and grown from it. Because of this, mentally coming back to Paris wasn’t difficult for me. It feels refreshing to face my fears and overcome them. For me, there’s no point in staying in a f–ked-up state of mind. ‘Feel it, go through it and move on’ has always been how I try to live my life. I would never suggest to anyone how to grieve, I can simply say what has worked for me.”

“I’m so happy I went back,” Kardashian concluded. “It was the perfect experience coming back to a city I love so much.”

Chiara Boni La Petite Robe Resort 2019

Resort allowed Chiara Boni to revert back to her penchant for vibrancy. After a fall runway show focused on Hollywood glamour and a more muted palette, she approached this season with hits of saturated yellow, lime, red, turquoise blue and magenta on her signature stretch jersey fabric. She’s developed a niche base for the textile, namely for its ability to balance a svelte line with comfort.
There were about 35 new dress styles, including a sleek off-the-shoulder black number, a color-blocked version with a keyhole cutout at the waist, and a couple of fringe styles that allowed the designer to show her playful hand. A cropped fitted jumpsuit was a new silhouette buyers have been gravitating toward during market for its ease, streamlined form and ability to transition from day-to-evening. (It’ll be available in every color from the season).
Swimwear has been an unsurprising success for the brand, crafted from the same stretch jersey so that playful one-piece suits with either structured bows at the waist or corsetry details can double as bodysuits for night when paired with trousers. Boni developed two original floral prints as well, splashing them onto swimsuits, silk caftans (a first for the brand), and long formal dresses

How Boy Love Anime’s Rape Problem Damages the Queer Community

In the anime Love Stage, Izumi and Ryoma are two star crossed lovers. Thanks to a cross dressing mishap, handsome celebrity Ryoma discovers his childhood crush, Izumi, is actually a boy. When he realizes he has feelings for another man, Ryoma goes to Izumi’s house to confront him, forces Izumi to undress… and ultimately tries to rape him.

It’s an incredibly shocking scene for an anime that promotes itself as a saccharine sweet love story. Nothing in the pink and flowery opening title sequence or key art implies that Love Stage is a story about sexual abuse.

Love Stage isn’t unique. It’s part of a sub genre of anime called shounen-ai or “boy love.” Crunchyroll, and other anime streaming services are full of these shows, and they all have similar names: Love Stage, Super Lovers, World’s Greatest First Love.

Popular shounen-ai titles: Love Stage!!, Super Lovers, World's Greatest First Love

On the surface, boy love anime are presented as flowery love stories about young men discovering their feelings for one another, but all too quickly these stories take dark turns. Nearly all shounen-ai anime has the same issues and problems, thanks to their reliance on tropes.

Anime fans are well aware of how prevalent tropes are. They’re in every anime, from Dragon Ball Z, to My Hero Academia, to Yu-Gi-Oh.

Anime tropes can be benign, like high school students running with toast in their mouth. Oftentimes they’re somewhat problematic fan service, like magical girl costume changes.

Romance anime has its own set of tropes, prevalent in straight and gay stories alike. And in the case of shounen-ai, these tropes become deeply troubling instances that present a warped and dangerous view of gay relationships.

So let’s break down these common themes and why they’re so damaging to queer representation.

Trope 1: Older man with much younger guy

One of the most obvious and apparent tropes in boy love shows are that the main couple have a substantial age difference. There is always a distinct seme (top) and uke (bottom) in the relationships, which creates a distinct power dynamic.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with this, but in boy love anime the uke character is often presented as VERY young. They may technically be an adult, or likely a teen, but they have the body of an early pubescent boy. This is often spelled out clearly, that this 16 year old boy looks like a 12 year old.

Haru and Ren in 'Super Lovers' have a significant age difference that is noted as taboo in the show.

There’s a damaging and untrue stereotype that gay men are predators, on the prowl for younger boys. The term “recruiter” is used to describe older gay men that lure otherwise straight boys into a life of perversion, and the relationships in shounen-ai perpetuate this perceived dynamic.

It also reinforces the intrinsically misogynistic stereotype that the bottom in a gay relationship is the “woman.” The uke character is frail, too weak to resist the advances of his seme. He is almost always soft skinned, effeminate, and sometimes even voiced by a woman. In addition to this being an extremely narrow and increasingly incorrect portrayal of gay dynamics, it’s also a very boring way to think about gay characters.

Trope 2. Sexual assault

You don’t have to get very far in any shounen-ai anime before there’s a scene of sexual assault. In every one, the seme character has physically pinned the uke against something and is forcing themselves upon them. Oftentimes this results in a scene of violence that’s played off as a gag, and almost always the assaulted character flees the situation, only to come back the very next episode.

Even if the character is traumatized by the experience, other characters offer no support. In Love Stage, Izumi’s own friends and family brush off his assault because nothing actually happened, and they liken the experience of Izumi being forcibly stripped and overpowered as “no worse than a mosquito bite” which is both ludicrous and infuriating.

Look, if your romance story starts with attempted rape… you’re telling a very shitty love story.

It’s painful to watch a character describe the man who assaulted him as his true love, and it sets an incredibly bad example for impressionable gay youth. It sends the message that people should go back to their abusers, and that if the victim loves the abuser enough, then the abuse will be replaced by love. Frankly that’s a dangerous message to send.

He does not stop.

And why is this even a thing? If Boruto started with Naruto forcing himself on Hinata nobody would be down with that, but in romance anime it’s expected that consent will be tossed out the window.

Writing this off as fiction does everyone a disservice because rape is a real problem. Furthermore it gives a worrisome look into Japan’s broader shame culture problem that pressures victims of rape against speaking out. A 2014 Cabinet Office study showed that only 4% of sexual assault victims in Japan actually report the crime to the police, and of those, few were successfully prosecuted.

Trope 3: The main characters aren’t really gay

In most shounen-ai anime, the seme and oftentimes the uke as well, are presented as mostly straight. They like girls, and even go on dates with them, too. They’re not gay, they just have such a connection with this one specific guy that it transcends their heterosexuality.

Now I can actually get behind anime that showcase a bi or pansexual character, but that’s not the impression that’s given. The characters rarely if ever self-identify as anything but straight. Because shounen-ai and yaoi are made for an assumed straight female audience, as opposed to gay men, the characters within them always stay… available. They’re not gay because in Japanese media gay men look and act a certain way…

Puri-puri Prisoner from 'One Punch Man' is an example of a gay stereotype character. A weird combination of hyper masculinity and flowery femininity… oh and also he's a serial rapist because of course he is.

By not making the characters actually gay, shounen-ai continues the othering of gay men. Sometimes the anime will make the distinction very clear, showing offensive and incorrect stereotypes of gay men as a comparison to the main couple. This fits the star crossed lover narrative so common in romance anime, but it prevents gay relationships from being normalized.

Trope 4: Main character is traumatized/broken

The poor poor boys of shounen-ai anime are usually pretty broken. Maybe they watched their parents die right in front of their eyes. Maybe they had a childhood trauma they never got over. Maybe they were… raised by wolves? What the hell?!

Lemme make this clear, with big ol clapping hand emojis.

GAY 👏 PEOPLE 👏 ARE 👏 NOT 👏 BROKEN 👏

We didn’t become gay because we’re otakus. Or because our bodies are small and thin. Or because one time a boy was mean to us in middle school. By making the characters in shounen-ai all stunted, broken, or traumatized people it gives the impression that being gay is not normal. That there is something fundamentally wrong with you to make you fall in love with another guy. It’s messed up and shows a lack of nuance about sexuality that is pretty shocking in this day and age.

So what can we do?

I wish I had a solution to this issue, but when it comes to anime, we as a Western audience have very little pull. But what we can start to do is to stop excusing this and other overly problematic tropes. All too often when issues with anime are brought up, the answer is a general shrug of “Well, Japan is a different culture.”

I think this excuse does a disservice to us, and Japan. It’s a very impotent way to view ourselves, as helpless to affect positive change on a global scale, and in a world that is increasingly more global thanks to the Internet, we know this isn’t true.

Furthermore, it’s insulting to Japanese people to claim that negative stereotypes are part of their culture, as if homophobia is a time honored tradition up there with shogi or kendo.

With American companies like Crunchyroll and Netflix bringing anime en masse to the states, we need to be more particular about what messages we’re promoting.

It’s important that young people, gay youth especially, have positive and realistic portrayals in media. Growing up, it’s all too easy to think there’s something wrong with you, and if you’re watching anime that reinforces this thought, it can damage you at a very formative time in your life.

Now, it’s not all bad. While shounen-ai is a flaming garbage pile, there have been notable examples of positive gay representation in anime and manga. While not overtly gay, Yuri!! on ICE takes the common tropes of sports anime’s latent homoeroticism and uses it to tell a love story on top of the broader sports plot.

Gengoroh Tagame’s manga series My Brother’s Husband is both an examination of gay relationships, and the differences between Japanese and Western society’s views on many social dynamics and issues.

And if you like the notion of shounen-ai anime and want a more positive Western spin, check out the Academy Award winning film Call Me By Your Name. It’s a beautiful and thoughtful romance that does everything a shounen-ai anime does, with none of the damaging stereotypes.

Hopefully in time, we’ll see anime continue its trend towards more accepting and thoughtful portrayals of all kinds of people. But before we can get there, things like shounen-ai’s rape culture storylines need to go.

‘Black-Ish’ Creator Kenya Barris and Pharrell to Create Juneteenth Musical

Kenya Barris, the creator of the hit ABC series Black-ish, is teaming up with Grammy Award-winning producer Pharrell Williams to create a stage musical about Juneteenth, a nationally recognized holiday marking the end of slavery for 250,000 African Americans in Texas on June 19, 1865.

Barris will collaborate with fellow Black-ish writer Peter Saji to write the libretto, the text of an opera or musical. Meanwhile, Pharrell will write, compose, and produce the music under his entertainment company I Am Other.

“I dream about projects like this,” Williams said in a statement, according to Deadline. “Kenya and Peter are geniuses and Juneteenth will change culture and change history. We couldn’t sign up fast enough. We are thrilled to collaborate with them.”

Although full details of the musical have not been disclosed, Juneteenth will reportedly focus on two different black families, one set during the Civil War era and the other in modern times.

Barris described working on Juneteenth as one of his greatest aspirations. “The acknowledgment and celebration of Juneteenth as an American and possibly international holiday is something that I would put in the life goals column for me.” He added, “For Peter and me to be able to team up with Pharrell on such an important project like this is something that neither of us in a billion years would have thought possible.”

The context of “Juneteenth” is a familiar topic for Barris. The showrunner frequently addresses issues of racism with humor and creativity on Black-ish. The season four premiere of the popular comedy-drama featured a musical episode based on the emancipation of slaves in 1865 titled “Juneteenth: The Musical.”

“For us, this project isn’t about numbers; it’s about humanity,” said Barris. “Slavery is America’s recessive gene and it’s time we all dealt with it and what better way to have an audience swallow this dose of medicine than with amazing music and raw, honest, jaw-dropping comedy?”

Last month, Barris and his wife Dr. Rainbow Barris donated $ 1 million to fund a new scholarship at their alma mater, Clark Atlanta University, to support students studying media, arts, and biology.

The Interparfums-owned fashion house said Italian designer Federico Curradi will be charged with bringing “a new attitude” to Rochas men’s wear going forward. The brand is expected to relaunch in January 2019.

You probably shouldn’t wear these 7 things as a wedding guest this summer

You probably shouldn’t wear these 7 things as a wedding guest this summer

You probably shouldn’t wear these 7 things as a wedding guest this summer

If you’re dreading purchasing another dress to wear to your eighth wedding this summer, we get you—wedding season is a lot to handle. There’s no shame in re-wearing outfits from one event to another, and you can pretty much wear any dress of your choosing so long that it is appropriate for a wedding. That last part is important, because there are a number of different outfit mishaps that often occur at weddings, the pros say. To ensure you don’t make a fashion misstep, we chatted with four stylists to find out what you should or maybe shouldn’t wear as a guest this summer. Here are their best suggestions on what to avoid.

Anything that even resembles white.

You know the drill—the bride should be the only one wearing white at the wedding. This includes every color that could potentially be considered in the white family, such as cream, bone, ivory, beige, and off-white. The one and only exception to this rule is if the bride and groom are having a “white-themed wedding” and request that their guests wear the hue. Still, even in this case, Ali Levine, celebrity stylist, fashion expert, and TV personality, warns guests never to wear anything that looks like a wedding dress.

Denim anything.

If you’re thinking of pulling a throwback to that iconic Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake denim moment, don’t. “Save your jeans for the backyard BBQ! Jeans are not welcome at a wedding no matter how casual it is,” says Toni Ferrara, a celebrity stylist who’s dressed Kim Kardashian, Matthew McConaughey, and Kate Beckinsale. “It’s just not a fabric that is meant to have a wedding moment.” Make sure your date knows this, too.

Anything too revealing.

Style experts agree that all eyes should be on the bride. “Drawing attention to you in a ‘sexual’ way is disrespectful in my opinion,” says Rayne Parvis, a certified Style Coach, personal stylist, media personality and author of Ultimate Guide to Style: From Drab to Fab!. She recommends staying away from anything too tight, that reveals too much cleavage, or with a completely open back. “A great rule of thumb is to accentuate one body part in a respectful way, not all three; cleavage, legs, and back,” she adds. Mayes agrees, adding, “Not only will your outfit be frowned upon, but you just may fall right out of that extremely plunging neckline.”

Related article: A comprehensive guide to wedding guest attire

Out-of-season hues.

Levine recommends wearing colors that are in-line with the summer season, so keep your orange-, auburn- and maroon-colored gowns in the closet until fall and winter. “Certain colors, fabrics, and aesthetics tell us it’s summer and makes us feel a certain way about that season,” she says. “Do not show up wearing fall colors and heavy fabrics in June, July, or August.”

A dress that matches the wedding colors.

Unless you’re in the wedding party, Parvis warns against intentionally wearing colors to match. “If you’re not a bridesmaid and you show up dazzling in the same color, it will appear you’re trying to be part of the wedding party versus a guest,” she says. “You’ll get questions and confusing looks.”

An oversized hat.

Sure, you hate it when the sun’s in your eyes, but that’s what sunglasses are for. Leave your oversized hats out of the equation when it comes to selecting your wedding attire. “Excessively large hats may block the view of the other guests, especially if you are seated in the front row,” says Ty-Ron Mayes, a celebrity stylist who appeared on America’s Next Top Model. “If you do not want to wear a smaller hat, consider a fascinator. Your sense of style and appropriateness will be well received.”

Anything too casual.

It might be hot, or even a beach-themed wedding, but leave your poolside attire where it belongs. “Unless the bride and groom tells you in the invitation to bring a change of casual clothing, or that it is a casual affair, stay nicely dressed,” says Levine. The same goes for your shoes. “Leave sandals at home—even if they’re beautiful.”

ABC’s Roseanne Spinoff The Conners Has Divided the Internet

News that ABC is pursuing a spinoff series of Roseanne without the show’s brash and controversial star Roseanne Barr left viewers divided Thursday night, with some praising the network’s handling of the hit series‘ cancellation and others outraged.

A 10-episode series of The Conners, starring actors John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman as their Roseanne characters, will air this fall with no “financial or creative involvement” from Roseanne Barr, ABC said in a statement. Barr’s show was cancelled last month after she tweeted a racist comment directed at former White House adviser Valerie Jarrett.

Some fans applauded the move by ABC, noting that it would prevent some 200 cast and crew members from losing their jobs over Barr’s tweet. But others questioned how the new show could survive without its titular subject, expressing support for Barr with the hashtag #standwithroseanne.

Many speculated about how the star’s absence would be woven into the new show’s plot, with one speculating that she could have been arrested for “illegally selling Tiki Torches,” a reference to props favored in the “Unite the Right” march in Charlottesville, Virginia last year.

New Yorker television critic Emily Nussbaum was tentatively supportive, noting that Roseanne’s absence would permit space for other characters to shine.

Barr will reportedly retain the intellectual rights to her namesake character in the deal, leading one commenter to posit an out-of-the-box crossover theory:

 • Cordovan Park Avenue Oxfords – $ 399
 • St. John’s Double Monk – $ 199

Good grief this one is a monster. It’s old school too. The e-commerce site for their factory 2nds on AllenEdmonds.com is NOT reflecting this tent sale. You have to go to the old shoebank site, and order over the phone. No links above because sizes and colors are scattered depending on the model, but I tested some common sizes and widths and that’s what I got for some common styles. $ 170 for Carlyles AND Fifth Avenues is very impressive. But remember, these are 2nds quality. And they’re still gonna nail you with a $ 25 restocking fee if you send them back.

Banana Republic: Additional 50% off Sale Items

Banana Republic

And I do believe it’s fair to say that the sale section is stacked. At least for now, at post time. Those suede wingtips are back to a dirt cheap price (full review here), and that lightweight Italian merino crew could be perfect to dig out post sundown to wear with shorts.

J. Crew Factory: Buy one get one free shorts w/ FREESHORTS

J. Crew Factory Shorts

If you spent the colder months not skipping legs day at the gym, then it might be time to stock up on some new shorts (or, if all of your shorts are old ratty cargos, it’s also time to stock up on new shorts). Lots of styles and inseam lengths to pick from, but 9″ should work for most guys. But hop to it. Code expires today, 6/21. Happy solstice and what not.

Lands’ End: 40% off full-price suits w/ SUIT & 1489

Lands' End

Seems like LE has been getting a bit tight-fisted with their codes as of late. Yes, there was a 50% off one item deal running yesterday, but 40% off seems to be not too bad. Full disclosure: I haven’t ever tried their new-ish year-rounder suit separates. But for under $ 200 (for Australian merino wool), in a bunch of different fits? Might be worth a real shot. Couple of seasonal options as well. And as is standard with LE, you can get the pants hemmed before they ship. Sizes for the jackets and pants can be a bit scattered depending on the fabric, fit, and color that you’re gunning for.

Massdrop: Woodlore Cedar Shoe Valet Starter Kit II – $ 54.99 FINAL ($ 79.95)

Massdrop: Woodlore Cedar Shoe Valet Starter Kit II

That’s a lot of shoe-care goodness for under $ 55. Yes, it’s final sale, but it’s not like this thing isn’t gonna “fit.” Great for the guy just getting into style, or, the guy who’s into style but doesn’t have a good place to store his shoe care stuff quite yet. You get the cedar shoe valet/stand, plus: Black carnauba shoe wax, Burgundy carnauba shoe wax, Brown carnauba shoe wax, Neutral carnauba shoe wax, 4 cloth applicators, 2 polish daubers, and 2 small horsehair shine brushes.

BONUS Brooks Brothers: Semi Annual Sale Expires SUNDAY

Brooks Brothers

Last call guys. The thing about the Semi Annual sale as opposed to other Brooks Brothers sales, is that this one includes their most popular styles. Where as a shirt deal or a suit deal might exclude the basics like white and light blue dress shirts, or navy or gray suits, that’s not the case here. Is the stuff still kinda expensive? Yes. But those suits are made in the USA from Italian Fabric. They’ve got a lot going for them. Good for the crowd who’s in a suit and tie during the work week. Full picks from the sale can be found here.

BONUS II J. Crew: 30% off Select w/ SHOPSUMMER

J. Crew

AGAIN? I mean, thank you J. Crew. But I was convinced that these things weren’t gonna go on sale for the longest of time. Now it seems like they’re usually kicking about around 20% – 30% off. No, you don’t need to buy the entire suit to get the savings. Just want a sportcoat? Totally fine. Looking for a pair of slim lightweight pants for summer, but don’t need the jacket? You can do that too. Head here for a full review of these suits. Note that their new stand-alone unconstructed white cotton-linen sportcoat is also getting this cut.

10 ‘Drag Race’ Queens We Need To See On ‘All Stars 4’

We’re one week away from crowning the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10. But after getting two seasons back-to-back, we’re about to go through some major Drag Race withdrawals. The best cure for our post-Ru blues, though, is to simply look to the future in anticipation and excitement. And what better way than to predict which queens will bless our screens when they return for All Stars 4.

We’re naturally hoping the fourth season of the fan-favorite franchise is a little more All Stars 2 (one of the best seasons of Drag Race of all time) and a little less All Stars 3 (#JusticeForShangela). So we’ve taken the liberty of combining a list of the 10 queens we need to see enter the workroom doors once more in order to make it the best All Stars season yet. (Editor’s Note: Miss Vanjie must return for Season 11, so the iconic queen will not appear on this list. But she’s always walking backward through our hearts.)

Kim Chi

Kim Chi

Season: 8 (Runner-Up)
Reason: Kim Chi may not have been the best dancer or actress — in fact, she could barely walk in heels — but the Korean queen made it all the way to the finale anyway. And that’s because she turned out some of the best looks that the show has ever seen. Kim also has a great sense of humor, which popped up a few times during Season 8, but has since found a place to truly shine on social media. Her unique looks and loveable personality already make her worthy of a crown, and if she has improved in other areas, she could truly chop suey the competition once and for all.
Chances of Appearing: High. She’s popular in the Drag Race fandom and has no reason to turn down the higher booking fees that come with an All Stars appearance.

Latrice Royale

Latrice Royale

Season: 4 (4th Place/Miss Congeniality), All Stars (7th/8th)
Reason: This is a dark thought, but there’s a chance that newer members of the Drag Race fandom don’t know who Latrice is, and that is not the kind of world I want to live in. Latrice is one of the most beloved queens in the history of the series, and she has the title of Miss Congeniality to prove it. But at this point, Season 4 was over six years ago and her appearance on the original All Stars was cut far too short. The children need to know the magic of the large and in charge, chunky yet funky queen and she deserves to appear in a season of All Stars that doesn’t pair the queens up for the entire season.
Chances of Appearing: Low. Sadly, producers are likely to cast queens who never appeared on an All Stars. But if Season 1 winner Bebe Zahara Benet can return, surely we can recycle an All Stars Season 1 queen as well.

Miz Cracker

Miz Cracker on 'Drag Race'

Season: 10 (5th Place)
Reason: A huge fan favorite throughout Season 10, fans were less than pleased when Miz Cracker was forced to sashay away right before making it into the final four. But the second she was eliminated, viewers eased their broken hearts by campaigning for her to appear on the next iteration of All Stars. The Jewish Barbie on bath salts seemed like a frontrunner from day one of Season 10, but her penchant for overthinking eventually got her into trouble. If she’s learned from her mistakes after watching herself on the show, she’s easily a contender for the crown.
Chances of Appearing: High. If Season 10 is included in the next round of All Stars, then Cracker needs to be a part of it.

Ongina

Ongina

Season: 1 (5th Place)
Reason: There seems to be at least one queen from the early years of Drag Race on every season of All Stars, and Ongina is the contestant that fans have been calling for. The Filipino queen made history when she came out as HIV-positive in an emotional episode of Season 1, but her talent extends far beyond her diagnosis. Ongina is known for her fashionable looks and for being the first queen to walk the runway without a wig. (Sorry, Sasha.) It’s time for new fans of the series to get to know the beloved bald queen.
Chances of Appearing: High. If they continue to include an OG queen on All Stars, they should give the fans they one they’ve been asking for.

Gia Gunn

Gia Gunn

Season: 6 (10th Place)
Reason: When Gia Gunn hopped off the boat like fresh tilapia and entered the competition on Season 6, Drag Race was never the same. The queen’s hilarious catchphrases (both intentional and unintentional) were a hilarious addition to the workroom. But after exiting the show, Gia came out as trans and has since been an ambassador for the transgender community. It would be fantastic to see her compete again, to get those hilarious one-liners while seeing how she’s grown both as a drag queen and as a woman.
Chances of Appearing: Low. While her time on Drag Race was nothing short of iconic, her early exit may mean she’ll have to wait until at least All Stars 5 or 6 to shine again.

Valentina

Drag Race Season 9 Valentina mask

Season: 9 (7th Place)
Reason: As one of the most polarizing queens in Drag Race history, Valentina is the type of contestant that All Stars was made for. After instantly becoming a frontrunner in Season 9 for her gorgeous looks and mesmerizing smile, Valentina fell from grace when she infamously wore a mask during a lip sync for her life. She didn’t know the words to the song and the moment was one of the most shocking in Drag Race history. Following her elimination, rumors swirled that Val was a diva at events and was rude to her fellow cast members. It may have been an epic fall from grace, but she still has a giant fanbase, so a return to the competition could be the perfect way to solidify her image, one way or the other.
Chances of Appearing: High. This is a no-brainer. The controversial queen must return.

Adore Delano

rupaul drag race adore delano

Season: 6 (Runner-Up), All Stars 2 (9th/Quit)
Reason: Adore is one of the most popular contestants in all of Drag Race history, not to mention one of the most successful. (The party queen is one of the best-selling recording artists to come out of the show.) So, naturally, fans were devastated when Adore quit All Stars 2 in the second episode, unable to handle the pressure of harsh critiques. During the reunion, Adore explained that she was going through a hard time in her personal life and wasn’t mentally strong enough to deal with the competition again. RuPaul gave her an open invitation to return though, and fans are desperately hoping she takes it.
Chances of Appearing: Unclear. Producers would surely love to have her back, but does she feel ready to walk into the workroom once more?

Jasmine Masters

Jasmine Masters

Season: 7 (12th Place)
Reason: Jasmine Masters struggled during her original run on Season 7 of Drag Race and also faced horrific racist abuse on Twitter while the show was airing. While most people were quick to write her off, she has since gained a huge fanbase on social media thanks to becoming a meme queen and hosting hilarious rants on Instagram Live. It would be great to see her in the competition again now that fans realize how funny she is, and perhaps she could enter with a more positive attitude (making her more willing to throw on a beard, if that’s what RuPaul asks).
Chances of Appearing: Low. Seeing as Jasmine released a video in 2016 announcing that RuPaul’s Drag Race has f–ked up drag,” it’s not very likely that producers are dying to have her back.

Shea Couleé

Shea Coulee

Season: 9 (3rd/4th)
Reason: Drag Race fans love to declare that a queen was robbed, and they shouted it from the rooftops when Shea didn’t become the winner of Season 9. The Chicago queen won a whopping four challenges throughout her time on the show, the highest of any queen on her season, but fell victim to the revamped finale format which found the final four lip syncing for the crown. Queens return to All Stars to get their redemption and Shea definitely deserves a second shot at taking the title
Chances of Appearing: High. She didn’t want to appear on All Stars 3 because it filmed only months after Season 9 aired, but now that she’s had some time to process things, she’s a likely bet to return.

Monique Heart

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 10 Monique Heart

Season: 10 (8th Place)
Reason: Facts are facts, America, and the fact is we need more Monique Heart in our lives. The ooh-ahh-ahh sensation lit up the screen in Season 10 with her larger-than-life personality and hilarious quotable moments. And, frankly, she never got the respect from the judges that she deserved. The card dress from the first episode definitely should have been more than safe, and Monique struggled to get in the good graces of the judges ever since. She deserved a main challenge win and we deserve to hear more of her amazing quips and confessionals.
Chances of Appearing: Unclear. While queens who placed higher in Season 10 are more likely to get a shot at All Stars first, RuPaul admitted on her podcast that she didn’t realize how funny the queen was until watching the show back. Even Ru thinks Monique deserves another chance, so let’s make it happen.

ENTERTAINMENT DEAL UPDATE:

It is on the left side: Graham watches

Once upon a time, British clockmakers ruled the timepiece kingdom. Names such as John Harrison and George Graham were highly respected for their many inventions that improved timekeeping. Meet Graham, the “British brand produced in Switzerland”, inspired by the 18th-century inventor.

George Graham

George Graham

George Graham

The original Graham (1673 – 1751) was a notable geophysicist, clockmaker, and inventor, born in Cumberland.

Thomas Tompion

Thomas Tompion

He left his home in 1688 to work with Thomas Tompion (1639 – 1713), considered the father of English clockmaking and Graham’s mentor.

The Orrery

The Orrery

The Orrery

Among George Graham’s inventions, we can mention the orrery he and Tompion built around 1704. It is a mechanical model of the solar system, driven by a clockwork mechanism, with the Sun at the center and a planet at the end of each arm.

Graham gave this model to John Rowley, a London instrument maker, who produced a copy for his patron Charles Boyle, the 4th Earl of Orrery, from which the instrument took its name.

Mural Quadrant

The mural quadrant for the Greenwich Observatory

Another Graham creation was the great mural quadrant for the Greenwich Observatory, commissioned by Edmond Halley in 1725. The wall a mural quadrant is mounted at is precisely oriented on the meridian, allowing the observer to measure the position of a celestial body.

The Chronograph

Professor Bernard Humbert's book

Professor Bernard Humbert’s book

The 1990 book “The Chronograph”, by Professor Bernard Humbert of the Horology School of Bienne, calls Graham “the father of the chronograph“, because he was the first to design and build a horological mechanism (then for a clock) capable of measuring the duration of an event, the principle of chronography.

John Harrison

John Harrison

John Harrison

John Harrison (1693 – 1776), voted as the 39th greatest Briton in a 2002 BBC poll, was a self-taught carpenter and clockmaker. He would eventually receive the hefty prize – £20,000 of 1714 (£2,9 million today) – offered in 1714 by the British Parliament to anyone who created a precision maritime chronometer, a timepiece necessary to calculate the longitude of a ship. (If the longitude was wrongly calculated, it could send a ship to an enemy’s island, with serious consequences.)

George Graham helped Harrison in the development of the marine chronometer and even loaned him £200 in 1730 so that he could start the production of the H1, the first attempt to produce a precise timepiece.

The H4 marine chronometer

But it was the H4, a pocket watch, that earned Harrison the longitude prize. Its accuracy was three times better than that required to win the promised prize. He was 80 years old and died three years later, but his invention – that had George Graham’s hand on it – caused a revolution in maritime navigation and saved countless lives.

Westminster Abbey

A plaque at Graham and Tompion’s manufacture on Fleet Street

Graham and Tompion are buried side by side in Westminster Abbey, an honor not easily achieved by a member of the middle class. It says a lot about the esteem in which he was held. The epitaph at his tomb says:

Here lies the body Mr. Tho Tompion who departed this life the 20th of November, 1713 in the 75th year of his age. Also the body of George Graham of London, Watchmaker and F.R.S. [Fellow of the Royal Society] whose curious inventions do honor to ye British genius whose accurate performances are ye standard of mechanical skill….

The Modern Graham Company

Eric Loth

Eric Loth

Even though there is no direct relation with George Graham, the modern brand evokes him with their motto, “Watchmakers since 1695”. It was created in 1995 by Eric Loth. Born in Bienne, he was involved in engineering since a tender age. His father was a professor at the engineering college of Neuchâtel and Eric graduated as a mechanical engineer there.

His career in the watch world started in Swatch Group, where he managed many plants. In 1992, he became a director at Gianni Bulgari Watches. Two years later, Loth founded a consulting company which had Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Bulgari Daniel Roth, and Gerald Genta e Jaquet-Droz as clients.

In 1994, he started to search for a brand in the luxury segment to express his own ideas. By that time he read about Graham and united this brand with another British-inspired one, Arnold & Son, creating The British Masters in 1995.

William Asprey

William Asprey

The association with the United Kingdom is not limited to the name. One of the company stockholders is William Asprey, chairman of William & Son. His family owns the uber-elegant store with his name in New Bond Street, with a Royal Warrant from the Prince of Wales.

In 2010, Eric Loth left as CEO of The British Masters, even though he still keeps a place on the board. This move allowed him to dedicate more time to projects such as contemporary art and car racing.

Sports and Graham

Using George Graham’s ideas as inspiration, virtually all Graham watches are chronographs with a substantial case, made with avant-garde materials and a casual DNA.

A racer at Tourist Trophy, Isle of Man

A racer at Tourist Trophy, Isle of Man

This is probably the influence of the founder on the design since Eric Loth is passionate about motorsports. This led the brand to be the official timekeeper of the insane Tourist Trophy at the Isle of Man, as well as of the annual rugby RBS 6 Nations tournament involving England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales (until 2013).

Gurnigel Bergrennen hill race

The brand also served as Official Timekeeper of the Swiss Gurnigel Bergrennen hill race, this year held on September 9 – 10: their Silverstone RS GMT was the official watch of the oldest motorsport race in Switzerland, with more than 200 racing cars and 50 motorcycles competing on a course with 17 bends and gradients of up to 12.6%. This race, dating back to 1910, became an annual event in 1968: the 3,734-meter course starts in the village of Dürrbach and ends in Gurnigelbad.

The Collection

The present Graham catalog comprehends the Chronofighter collection (with lines such as Vintage, Oversize, Superlight and Prodive), Silverstone RS and the Geo. Graham collection, with complicated movements.

Chronofighter

The inspiration for the Chronofighter was the pilot watches of World War II. They had to wear gloves and so they needed watches with big buttons. These watches have, as typical, a lever that engages some chronograph functions, all of them on the left side.

Contrary to what you could surmise with a smirk, the left-handed winding crown does not come from the British driving habits, themselves deriving from the medieval times and their swordsmen. (The left drive, by the way, became mandatory there in 1835.) The design allows the wearer to use the chronograph lever with the right hand and, as a bonus, it does not trouble the movements of the left hand.

Chronofighter Vintage GMT

Chronofighter Vintage GMT

The Chronofighter Vintage GMT models have 44 mm steel cases with ceramic rotating bezels and come in four different colors (green, grey, blue or brown). A window shows the date at 12 o’clock, with the automatic Calibre G1733 providing a power reserve of 48 hours. The leather strap (in the color of the dial) has white stitches, conferring the model a definitive sportive look.

Chronofighter Vintage Nose Art: Nina

Chronofighter Vintage Nose Art: Nina

A beautiful and nostalgic timepiece is the Chronofighter Vintage Nose Art, with four different designs, each in a limited edition with 100 pieces.

Chronofighter Oversize Target

Chronofighter Oversize Target

As if the 44 mm diameter of the basic Chronofighter was not enough to ban it from the wrist of a suit wearer, the Oversize Target has a 47 mm steel case, also with a ceramic bezel, with a telemeter scale, allowing the user to determine the distance of a storm – or of the enemy’s gun…

Chronofighter Superlight

Chronofighter Superlight

The focus of the Chronofighter Superlight is, obviously, its weight. Made with a superlight black carbon composite, the 47 mm case is complemented by a dial made with the same material and a rubber strap.

Pic. 19 –

Chronofighter Prodive

Chronofighter Prodive

The Prodive is a version tested to resist to a 2,000 feet depth, more than what a gentleman’s need regularly. It has a monopusher chronograph system, automatic helium valve and luminescent hands for good legibility.

Silverstone RS

Silverstone RS Racing

Silverstone RS Racing

As any car racing fan may tell you, Silverstone Circuit is a racing track with 3.661 miles, graded 1 by FIA, meaning that it is apt for Formula One races. The Silverstone RS Racing watches have six versions, with different color and material alternatives, all with 46 mm diameter steel cases and resin bezels with tachymeter scales.

The movement employed in this collection is the automatic Calibre G1749, with 48 hours power reserve, chronograph functions (seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hours counters) and day-date windows at 3 o’clock. The hands have Super-LumiNova luminescent elements and the seconds counter is shaped like a brake disc, with a yellow, red or orange indicator, depending on the version. Some models come with a rubber strap reproducing a tire tread with colored inset.

Silverstone RS GMT

Silverstone RS GMT

The Silverstone RS GMT is powered by the automatic Calibre G1721, with flyback chronograph function: this allows the user to start a new time measurement with a single action. The black-smoked dial is partially skeletonized, showing the date disks; the hands have a luminescent covering, and a second-hour hand – complemented by the rotating GMT graduation bezel – indicates a second time zone.

And don’t complain about the 46 mm steel case: older versions of this limited edition (250 pieces) had a 48 mm diameter. It comes with a quilted leather strap, but it may be replaced by a metal bracelet or rubber strap.

Geo. Graham

Presently, this collection includes the Tourbillon, the Orrery Tourbillon, and The Moon watches.

The Tourbillon

The Tourbillon

The Tourbillon has three versions in limited editions: eight each for the brown and the blue dials, and 100 for the white dial. The case has a more subdued 40 mm diameter in pink gold, with a G1796 automatic tourbillion movement. The strap is of alligator leather, in a color that complements the dial.

The Orrery Tourbillon

The Orrery Tourbillon

The Orrery Tourbillon has two versions in pink gold 48 mm cases, each in a limited edition of 8 pieces. This extraordinary watch has a mechanical solar system model with 100 years calendar. On the case back, it has a year counter with planet correction indicators. (Moon: 7 years, Earth: 1156 years, Mars: 25 years). The movement was developed by Christophe Claret for Graham and it has Haute Horlogerie finishing. A crown at 2 o’clock sets the calendar on the case back and adjusts the planets; there is a corrector for the Moon and for Mars.

The Moon in white gold

The Moon in white gold

The Moon is also a limited edition (8 pieces), with a flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock, a retrograde moon indicator with a precision of 122 years: it returns backwards to zero at the end of its cycle of approximately 29 ½ days. The case is white gold, with a generous diameter of 46 mm; the dial has 48 diamonds (totaling 0.24 carats) with a hand-painted moon.

Conclusion

With their big-sized cases, Graham watches are definitely not for the suit-and-tie gentleman. However, they can certainly be used on weekends or in sports situations. The trigger on the Chronofighters reminds me of the safety lock on the crown of Panerai watches, another brand with massive cases and aimed at the sports crowd.

The vast majority of Graham watches has prices below $ 8,000 in steel – with the Geo. Graham models ranging from $ 50,000 to over $ 270,000. I’d say that these are aimed at the collector, so that leaves us to consider the sports lines.

The Chronofighters are in the same price range as steel Omega Speedmasters and Breitling chronographs, two brands with reliable movements and good track records. So, any buying consideration on a Graham will rely on your interest in having a different watch, perhaps a conversation (time)piece. It will appeal to the war pilot in the wearer, as well as to those who want to be connected to a great watchmaker of the past. Preferably with a big wrist!

Queer Eye’s Fab Five Travels to Yass, Australia, to ‘Make Better’ a Single Rancher Dad

Queer Eye captured the hearts in Gay, Georgia, and now the Fab Five is taking over Yass, Australia! (Yes, that’s a real town!)

After two seasons of “Yass” jokes, Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Tan France, Antoni Porowski and Jonathan Van Ness descended on the rural town earlier this month to “make better” not one, but two men, including 54-year-old George, a single father and rancher who focuses more on his work commitments than his family.

“I do not think George has ever had four American gay men with one gorgeous Pakistani Brit ever come at him so aggressively for cuddles,” expert groomer Van Ness jokes about the hero, who was nominated by his son Levi.

While Karamo, Tan and Jonathan turn their attention to mentally and physically transforming George, Antoni and Bobby rebrand a local restaurant and pub with a completely new interior design and menu. (No avocadoes for Antoni this time!)

And the Fab Five even become Australian royalty!

The guys were surprised with a special ceremony by the Mayor of Yass, Rowena Abbey, who crowned them all Yass queens.

Recently, Bobby, Karamo, Tan, Antoni and Jonathan spoke about the cultural and social impact the Netflix reboot has had on viewers around the world, and how they continue to tackle newfound fame together.

“On a personal note, I’m so incredibly proud of the way that I think each of my brothers and cast mates have tackled the electricity and how grand this whole thing is. I feel like it’s just exploding so quickly, especially with Season 2 dropping,” Antoni said at the 2018 Changemakers Award ceremony in New York City on Tuesday.

“Not only on social media but when we get together we don’t see each other. The fact that we all get to experience this as a unit, and I think it’s been unifying for all of us,” he said.

Season 2 of Queer Eye is streaming now on Netflix.

Love Island got dramatic this week, with ‘couple’ Rosie Williams and Adam Collard seeming to call their relationship quits, with Adam neglecting Rosie for a new attraction, Zara.

But it’s not the separation that has got the world talking, but instead the way it came about, and was dealt with by the 22-year-old personal trainer.

When he was confronted by a tearful Rosie, he appeared to mock her reaction, and viewers were horrified to watch him manipulate her into believing that it was her fault, taking to Twitter to voice their outrage.

‘Seriously – laughing at a girl crying because you betrayed her trust and led her on…that’s just the worst thing you can do,’ tweeted one user.

Another posted: ‘Adam’s a controlling, mass manipulating wench. He has constantly humiliated girls, making them feel insecure &to blame for his disloyalties & disrespect.’

And it wasn’t just Love Island viewers who were concerned, with domestic abuse charity, Women’s Aid, using Adam’s behaviour as a warning of abuse.

Whilst accepting that Love Island is an artificial environment, Katie Ghose, chief executive of Women’s Aid explained that Adam’s actions on the outside world could be seen as emotional abuse.

ITV/REX/Shutterstock

‘In a relationship, a partner questioning your memory of events, trivialising your thoughts or feelings, and turning things around to blame you can be part of pattern of gaslighting and emotional abuse,’ explained Katie.

What should people do therefore?

ITV/REX/Shutterstock

Speak out. According to Katie, viewers who are in similar situations should ‘join [Rosie] in recognising unhealthy behaviour in relationships and speaking out against all forms of domestic abuse – emotional as well as physical’.

‘It is only when we make a stand together against abuse in relationships that we will see attitudes change and an end to domestic abuse.’

We couldn’t agree more.

Small Political Actions to Take Each Week — No Matter What Party You’re In

small political actions to take each weekWhether or not the current issue of separating immigrant families at the border has contributed to your outrage fatigue or spurred you into taking action (and/or brought you to tears, as it did even for an on-the-air Rachel Maddow), you may be looking for small political actions to take each week to make your voice heard — no matter what party you’re in.

In the meantime, you might find it helpful to read our posts on the benefits of meditationhow to relax after a stressful day, how to take a partial social media break, how to focus on work (when other things are going on) … and, for very simple stress relief in general: coloring books for adults. If you want to get even more involved, check out our resources for women running for office.

Here are four websites that make it easy to learn about small political actions to take each week — plus one bonus site that helps you make a difference in other ways. If you know of any other groups with small political actions to take weekly or daily, we’d love to hear about them!

Daily Action

This site, which was created by the Creative Majority PAC (which is run by artists, musicians, and writers and assisted by MoveOn.org) sends daily action alerts by text to its subscribers — and they aren’t solely requests to call your representative. To start receiving them, text the word DAILY to 228466 (or just sign up on the site). One recent example: Call a company that’s in the position to profit from the separation of immigrant children from their families and tell them you won’t support them until they stop contributing to ICE’s actions.

Americans of Conscience Checklist

Writer Jennifer Hofmann puts together a non-partisan weekly email with actions to take on issues such as voting access, equality for all Americans, respectful treatment of immigrants, and so on — with the philosophy that “We’re Americans first and party second.” This week’s email suggests actions like asking your elected officials to hold town halls in July, or thanking the five Democratic and Republican senators who “mov[ed] to curb executive branch overreach by limiting President Trump’s authority on tariffs ” — along with many other things to do.

5 Calls

This site is an open-source project made by volunteers that encourages people to go beyond easy online efforts (retweeting, etc.) and call their representatives. You can sign up to get weekly email alerts that give you a phone number and short script regarding key issues such as “Demand Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Neilsen’s Resignation” and “Protect the Affordable Care Act and Its Protections for Preexisting Conditions.” You don’t have to sign up to get information on actions like these, though — just check the site and click on a particular issue that’s important to you.

My Civic Workout

I really like the mission of this site (which is run by a small team): “to help those feeling overwhelmed, daunted, and disheartened to engage in meaningful civic activism.” (Really, how many of us does that apply to?) You can sign up to receive a few emails a week that offer 5-minute, 10-minute, and 30-minute activism “workouts,” meaning you may be encouraged to educate yourself on a key issue, call your representative, attend a political rally, etc. Here’s a recent example.

Charity Navigator

Charity Navigator’s tagline is “Your Guide to Intelligent Giving,” and we linked to it in our post on how to help charities by donating money, time, or something else. If you want to take action but your time and/or mental energy is significantly limited, you can use this site to help you decide where to donate (according to an organization’s financial health, accountability, and transparency). Find a particular charity’s score or use the site’s Giving Basket tool, which allows you to donate to multiple charities at once, give anonymously (if you prefer), and get a single tax receipt. This is a good option if you want to make a donation without ending up with piles of unsolicited mail (really, who needs more return address labels?), because you can choose how much personal information, if any, to share with each charity. (Here’s a general donation tip: Money given to a 501(c)(3) is tax-deductible on your federal return, while money given to a 501(c)(4) is not.) By the way, you can also try GuideStar, the BBB Wise Giving Alliance, and CharityWatch

Have you found a good way to learn about small political actions to take each week? Have you signed up for email or text alerts that share them? Have you limited your consumption of news or stopped using social media because of outrage fatigue or other reasons? What are your favorite non-partisan organizations that are taking political and community action in ways you admire?

If 2018 / Trump is getting to you, the urge to disengage is high (outrage fatigue is real!) -- so we rounded up groups and resources that encourage small political actions each week to save you from being overwhelmed and still get your voice heard.

A$AP Rocky, Quincy Brown and Christian Combs Check Out Rick Owens show

A$ AP Rocky has a busy summer ahead, with concert dates on three continents between now and September. “There’s no such thing as vacation,” said the rapper.
On the personal fashion front, A$ AP has a new sneaker design coming out soon, he said. “It’s dope, because I did it,” he exclaimed, without revealing further details.
Sitting farther down the front row with Christian Combs, Quincy Brown teased about the third season of Fox series “Star” later in the year. “A lot of the tables turn,” he said. Brown also just released not one, but two singles on his birthday — June 4. “I wanted to give something back on my birthday,” he said.
For Jaylen Brown, hiding behind the face mask provided under the guise of an invitation for the smoke-filled show, it was a first visit to the City of Light. “I’m seeing some shows, eating some good food, drinking some wine — I’m a big wine drinker — sightseeing, shopping,” listed the Boston Celtics player.
Michèle Lamy took it all in, meanwhile, thanks to a GoPro camera strapped to her forehead. “I’m not really filming the show, but the people, and the whole day,” she explained.

Jesse Williams Ordered To Pay 100K In Spousal, Child Support

Lord have mercy! It really is cheaper to keep her. After a nasty custody battle, Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams has been hit with huge child support payment.

The actor and activist has been ordered to shell out $ 50,629 a month in child support to ex Aryn Drake-Lee for their three-year-old son Maceo and four-year-old daughter Sadie, according to court documents.

He had previously been ordered to pay over $ 50k a month in spousal support that was upped from $ 33k, TMZ reports. Williams must also pay his estranged wife’s legal fees, totaling $ 270,000.

According to court docs, Jesse pulls in $ 521,000 a month.

Williams fought against the support payments, saying he would instead like to take care of the needs of his children, but the court wasn’t having it.

“The reasonable needs of the children can be met by (Williams) directly paying school tuition, uninsured medical and certain other expenses totaling $ 7,465 a month,” the actor argued in the papers.

In the end, Drake-Lee was awarded the sum so the children could “share in a lifestyle and condition consistent with their parents’ current station in life,” the court ruling states.

The couple finalized the end of their five-year marriage nearly a year after he filed for divorce. They were granted joint physical custody of their kids.

‘Forza Horizon 4’: Britain Will Weather Diverse, One-Week Seasons

Seasons are everything in Forza Horizon 4. Weather has been a high-level feature that Playground Games has wanted for a long time. It’s already in the instanced races of the main Forza series, of course. All of the tech exists to not only make it rain, but accurately depict driving through that rain.

But how do you make it work in an open world?

As Summer turns to Autumn, Winter, and Spring, Forza Horizon 4‘s mission is to provide new challenges along with its seasonal changes, while seamlessly integrating multiplayer. It’s chosen this task in the midst of recreating its own home of Britain. And no matter the season, Forza Horizon 4‘s weather will dynamically change driving physics.

Here’s how it’ll all work.

Forza Horizon 4‘s Britain

It’s all about Britain this time around. Lovely roadside stone cottages. Oddly agile sheep that avoid your speeding rampages.

There are several benefits to setting Forza Horizon 4 in the developer’s backyard. There’s a certain amount of pride on the line, but it’s also very easy to get the details right.

While Playground Games could only send a small team to Australia for research on Forza Horizon 3, it’s feasible to quickly and cheaply send a much larger team around the UK. Here in Australia we got a kick out of the little details, like seeing our uniquely coloured recycling bins faithfully rendered. We can expect that and more from the red phone boxes of Britain.

Forza Horizon 4 hovercraft race Britain
Nothing says Britain like… hovercraft racing?

The world of Forza Horizon 4 will be the same size as the last game, but with notable tech improvements. The most notable is the weather systems Playground has been wanting to implement for a while now — but we’ll get to that. Multiplayer is now more seamlessly integrated. And If you’ve got an Xbox One X, Forza Horizon 4 will also run at 60 frames per second.

Parts of this new world will be purchasable, too. While the whole game takes place in a fictional event that involves racing and drifting all over the British countryside, you’ll have the opportunity to put down roots – or just buy a vanity home – in a dozen or so houses up for grabs. These range from small cottages to larger, more famous dwellings.

Forza Horizon 4 house purchase Britain Winter
One of the smaller purchasable houses in Forza Horizon 4.

It’s a singleplayer only feature, but it’s the ultimate status symbol in Forza Horizon 4. Park your favourite car outside and take a photo, enjoying the juxtaposition of slick McLaren against 14th century stone.

While Playground will be building Britain to the best of its ability, this won’t be a 1:1 recreation. Much like the Australia of Forza Horizon 3 saw us driving for a few minutes between Byron Bay and the Outback, this is primarily a fun open world. That’s fine by us — who really wants to drive for literal, real-world days to get to the other side of the map? Plus, the introduction of weather systems allows Forza Horizon 4 to effectively create different driving experiences using the same space.

Weather Systems in Forza Horizon 4

When deciding which features to put in the game, weather and Britain came as a packaged deal. As it was put to us, “We went with Britain because we went with weather, and we went with weather because we went with Britain.”

Britain is a very seasonal location, allowing Forza Horizon 4 to showcase its simulation-level driving physics in very pronounced Summers and Winters.

“We have hundreds of surfaces in the game, and on top of that there are the weather conditions,” said our demo driver at E3. “But it’s not just about the surfaces, it’s about the conductivity. The way heat is transferred from the surface into the tyre. That will change according to temperature, wetness, etc. You’ll notice the difference on the same track across different seasons, and across the day/night cycle.”

Beach buggy race Britain Forza Horizon 4 weather rain
Not quite Australian beaches, but British beach buggy races has a certain appeal.

For those not well versed in four-wheeled physics, weather will have some even bigger effects. Sections of the map will change entirely. An island in the middle of a lake, for example, would become accessible when the lake freezes over in winter. A strong river might dry up in the Summer, revealing new routes.

On top of that, Playground will be adding in its own season-based challenges in Forza Horizon 4. In fact, seasons will be its main way of adding new content. Each season lasts one week in real-time, and will always come with new things to find. Every player will be playing in the same world, with synchronised seasons.

Classic British cars race in Forza Horizon 4
Classic British cars? Check.

“We wanted there to always be something to look forward to,” said our demo driver. “When an experienced player teams up with a novice, they might say ‘If you like this area now, wait till you see it in Winter, I’ll have some cool paths to show you.’”

Every asset in the game changes in some way across the four seasons. It’s like there are actually four versions of Forza Horizon 4, and we were happy to see how many practical, gameplay effects the seasons have in addition to visual style.

How Forza Horizon 4‘s Multiplayer Works

There are a lot of fun ideas here. Your world of Forza Horizon 4‘s Britain will be seamlessly integrated with others, with racers and drift partners sliding into view from off-screen a la Journey.

There’s a basic communication system in play so you can ask folks if they want to do a drifting challenge, or join a larger race. To avoid griefing, no car-to-car contact is allowed until you allow it, or join a competitive race.

Speaking of competitive races, Playground will be running world events on the hour, every hour. These will start out on a massive scale, and whittle people down through multiple challenges until there’s a winner. The Online Adventure mode is competitive only, and will feature teams and rankings for those who want to get serious.

Muddy hill rainy weather Forza Horizon 4
After the rain comes the sun… and the mud.

While the “rewind” mechanic has been used before in Forza games, here it actually works in the context of online multiplayer.

A highly requested feature from the community was being able to make your own route, and Forza Horizon 4 let’s you do it. Found a cool path the developers didn’t anticipate through the changing world? Now you can save it, and share it with other players who can rate them.

If you don’t really want to take part in any of the online multiplayer shenanigans, there’s a quick “Horizon Solo” button which makes the experience completely offline until you say otherwise. The developers think you’ll have a much better with with Forza Horizon 4 with multiplayer enabled, but hey. Sometimes you just want to drive alone.

Snow race weather Forza Horizon 4
Weather the storm? Nah, get the snow tyres.

There are more than 450 cars in Forza Horizon 4, but this is very much a game about the world. It’s about Britain, but more importantly, it’s the realisation of an idea of four different versions of a play space, rotating every week.

It’s a perfect fit for the tech of the Forza franchise, and we think Forza fans will enjoy the blending of their world with others online. It’s up to Playground to make interesting challenges that’ll go along with these ideas, and with new ones added every week, there are sure to be some hits. Not to mention, you can create your own now — and we expect the community aspect of this game to increase as a result.

You can expect it on October 11th on Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass.

Puma Makes Power Moves, Signs Deandre Ayton, Marvin Bagley, and Jay-Z

Puma is back in the basketball business. The company has announced the signings of top draft prospects Deandre Ayton (Arizona), Marvin Bagley III (Duke), and Zhaire Smith (Texas Tech).

The Ayton signing was announced this week. The projected No. 1 pick in this week’s NBA draft signed a four-year, multimillion-dollar footwear and apparel endorsement deal. Ayton, a native of the Bahamas, shares a Caribbean connection to two of Puma’s biggest ambassadors in Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt of Jamaica and pop star Rihanna of Barbados.

“Puma is pretty popular in the Bahamas,” Ayton said. “I’ve always seen the brand growing up. [Bolt] is one of the first people I saw with the brand. It’s important to me that someone I identify with and admire as an athlete is with the same brand.”

In case competitors in the lucrative athletic shoe and apparel industry didn’t take Puma’s re-emergence into the basketball space seriously, they’ve taken immediate notice now that Jay-Z has joined as the company’s president of basketball operations. “We’ve been working with Roc Nation for quite some time. They’ve been great partners to us for several years. We’ve done many different deals with many different ambassadors,” Adam Petrick, Puma’s global director of brand and marketing, told Complex. When Puma approached him about this opportunity, Jay-Z felt it “was something he wanted to be a part of,” according to Petrick.

Selena Gomez Fans Are Creeped Out By Naked Video of Her in Bathtub

Is there a good reason why this happened? Selena Gomez fans are freaking out over an eerie short video of her naked in a bathtub.

Canadian artist Petra Collins published the horror movie, titled “Love Story,” via Instagram on Wednesday, June 20, causing outrage among 25-year-old Gomez’s loyal following.

“I think you changed Selena. I miss Selena in 2016 and I want in 2016 and I want it back … I’m afraid,” one fan commented on the creepy clip. Added another: “This has a serial killer vibe to it!”

“I had to stop watching,” noted a scared viewer. Another frightened fan chimed in, “This is not Sel, she changed. I know everyone changes, grows up, but now Selena is half-Petra and I don’t like it (just like too many Selenators).”

The psychedelic video features the former Disney star humming while bathing in murky water. At one point, Gomez peels a human-like mask off her face, which later reappears on her back. The “Back to You” singer has yet to respond to the backlash or repost the clips on her own feed.

Gomez previously worked with Collins in July 2017 while filming a video for her track “Fetish” in which she appears to have somewhat of a meltdown in a suburban home. She also ties her tongue, bites into glass and hosts a candlelit dinner for one.

The 13 Reasons Why executive producer opened up about working with Collins in a July 2017 interview with Dazed.

“People don’t know but my personal life ties into the work we do together because [she] knows things about my life that nobody knows and I know a lot about [her] life that nobody knows,” Gomez explained. “It comes out, somehow.”

Samantha Bee: ‘Mommy and Me Jails’ Are Not the Answer

“If like most people you’ve been feeling a little uncomfortable this week with our new pre-K prisons, good news: The president has fixed it with the next worst thing,” Samantha Bee said at the top of her show Wednesday night.

“Yay, no more baby internment camps,” the Full Frontal host said after playing footage of President Trump signing his new executive order. “Just regular internment camps. Cool, that’s what we call a win in 2018!”

Bee, who was the first late-night host to fully take on Trump’s family separation policy, said she was happy that “theoretically these kids are going to stay with their parents,” but added, “Mommy and me jails are not a solution.” Instead of #keepfamiliestogether, she suggested activists should have been using “#keepfamiliestogetherbutnotinjailyoumonsterswhatiswrongwithyou.”

What Songs Would Make the Cut of Your ’90s R&B ‘Love Is’ Spotify Playlist?

In honor of the new show, Love Is____, which premiered last night on OWN, and following suit of the creators, Mara Brock Akil, Salim Akil, and Oprah Winfrey herself, here is a list of our top 10 ’90s R&B songs (and ones from the early ’00s) that would make our overly indulgent Spotify playlist.

Our ’90s R&B Spotify Playlist

ABOUT LOVE IS_____

Michele Weaver (Illicit) and Will Catlett (Black Lightning) star in OWN’s new romantic drama Love Is__, from award-winning producers Mara Brock Akil (Girlfriends, Being Mary Jane, The Game) and Salim Akil (Black Lightning). According to a recent press release, the show is set primarily in 1990s Los Angeles against the backdrop of Black Hollywood. Love Is__ follows Nuri (Michele Weaver) and Yasir (Will Catlett), a couple from seemingly opposite worlds, as they chase their dreams and learn to follow their hearts.

'90s R&B

Told from the perspective of the couple’s present-day selves, the romantic drama also revisits the social issues and vibrant black culture of that time reflecting on how it all aligned to shape the couple they have become nearly 20 years later—a power couple navigating a complex set of social codes while also balancing successful careers and a beautiful family. Drawing inspiration from creators Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil’s own relationship journey, the series explores the highs, the lows, and the magic of falling (and staying) in love.

The OWN show made its debut on Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET. In case you missed the first episode, or the trailer that reeked of ’90s nostalgia, Brownstone’s “If You Love Me” led us back down memory lane.

Now it’s your turn. What R&B songs from that era would be on your playlist?

Seth Meyers Tears Into Trump For Playing the Hero With Executive Order

NBC

Over the course of his 10-minute “A Closer Look” segment Wednesday night, Seth Meyers set out to prove why President Donald Trump’s constant lying is so pernicious.

“Trump’s only political skill is his total and complete lack of shame,” the Late Night host began. “His malignant narcissism allows him to confidently and brazenly lie in the way that most other politicians would be too embarrassed to even try.”

Sometimes, these blatant lies are relatively victimless. But that is not the case this week as Trump attempts to take credit for ending a “cruel” policy of separating immigrant families at the border that he himself implemented.

LGBTQ Patient Voices Can Reveal Powerful Insights

Lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, and queer communities across the nation this month hold pride observances to recognize hard-won civil rights battles and to celebrate sexual diversity. Despite progress in securing freedom, rights and acceptance, LGBTQ communities still struggle with limited access to basic health care, writes Richard S. Isaacs, MD, FACS, CEO and executive director of The Permanente Medical Group, in a commentary published this week by Modern Healthcare magazine.

Dr. Isaacs also serves as president and CEO of the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group and co-CEO of The Permanente Federation.

In the commentary, “Listening to LGBTQ patient voices,” Dr. Isaacs writes that limited access to health care and mental health care has long affected LGBTQ communities because of discrimination, societal stigma, and fear. As a result, members of LGBTQ communities face greater health challenges and poorer health outcomes than the general population. These poorer health outcomes range from higher risk factors for heart disease among lesbian women to greater risk of mental health conditions including substance abuse and suicide.

To reduce health disparities and increase access to basic care, Dr. Isaacs shares how the Permanente Medical Groups and Kaiser Permanente have applied three approaches: an emphasis on listening to the patient voice, improved data collection for LGBTQ populations, and the development of organization-wide policies and culturally responsive training.

Most importantly, Dr. Isaacs writes of how “devoting time to listen to patients,” who may feel marginalized by society and seemingly invisible to the world, “can reveal powerful insights … that can lead to better outcomes for all.”

Orlando Bloom apparently had a big crush on this Oscar-winning actress

‘I was just walking around, spying on her from the corner of the room. In a non-creepy way.’

While all of us remember the first time we set eyes on Legolas with his blonde tresses and bright blue eyes in The Fellowship of the Ring, Orlando Bloom had his eyes on somebody else while filming Lord of the Rings. Namely, someone you might not have even remembered starred in the film: Cate Blanchett.

The two were reunited for a special London episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden, where they chatted with the host and singer Niall Horan about everything and nothing. The Lord of the Rings alum reflected on their time dealing with Frodo Baggins’ infamous ring and their first meeting in New Zealand, which was when Orlando revealed he held a torch for Cate.

Willi Schneider/REX/Shutterstock

James asked, ‘What was your first impression of Cate Blanchett when you first met?’

Orlando turned to Cate and blurted, ‘I had such a crush…I had the biggest crush on you. But I was 21 and you were just-’

‘And I was what, a hundred and ten?’ Cate deadpanned.

Thinking quickly, Orlando said, ‘But you were like 25…26…no, 28?’

‘I’d go to the lower end,’ she advised him.

Although Orlando may have well and truly put his foot in it during the interview, he apparently was a secret admirer from afar while they were filming. The Tolkien epic was one of his first big gigs out of drama school and we bet Cate, with her poise and endless list of film credits on her IMDB page. It turns out that they didn’t have very long together on set however, as Cate was only there for about three weeks – and Orlando really didn’t make an impression. Mainly because she didn’t even know who he was.

‘I didn’t recognise you for two weeks…The first time I saw you, you had hair – like Fabio hair – and blue eyes. And then I just saw you, like this really cute guy out of drama school who was at the parties. And I didn’t put two [and two together that it was] Orlando,’ she said.

orlando bloom cate blanchett

Moviestore/REX/Shutterstock

Orlando joked, ‘And I was just walking around, spying on her from the corner of the room. In a non-creepy way.’

While it may not have worked out for the former elves, they seemed to be in good spirits and bounced off one another well on the show. They also both were suitably flabbergasted when Niall Horan revealed that One Direction had been thrown out of Trump hotel by – you guessed it – President Donald Trump.

Ah well, such is life. To be honest, we only want the best for our Cannes-protesting, suit-wearing, no-bullshit-talking queen Cate Blanchett.

We love you Orlando, but we don’t know if you’re it.

Feminists Have Zero Tolerance for the Trump Administration’s Family Separation Policy

The Trump administration’s so-called zero-tolerance immigration policies are ripping families apart—yet they refuse to accept blame for the chaos and national shame incurred by the horrifying and heart-wrenching scenes unfolding along the border.

Feminists won’t be fooled by the Trump administration’s misinformation campaigns attempting to eschew blame for the border crisis. Instead, they’re fed up and fighting back.

A protestor holds up a sign at the 2017 March for Undocumented Peoples’ Rights in Los Angeles. (Molly Adams)

Practices put into place by the Trump administration mandate that all adults entering the U.S. at its border with Mexico, including those looking to secure asylum, are detained and criminally prosecuted—and their children are taken from their arms and put in separate facilities. What’s worse, many families remain separated even after adults’ cases have processed—leaving hundreds of miles between parents and their children with no promise by the U.S. government of when they will be reunited. The Trump administration announced Wednesday that it is also contemplating constructing a “tent city” for detained children on a military base—effectively exempting the camp from licensing standards for care facilities.

In the last six weeks alone, nearly 2,000 minors have been seized from their parents and guardians by U.S. officials. MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff visited Casa Padre, a children’s detainment center in California, and witnessed children treated like prisoners—they ate in shifts like caged animals, slept packed five to a room in overcrowded cages and spent 22 hours a day inside. In a recording obtained by ProPublica, border patrol agents at the border can be heard mocking young children who are sobbing and crying out for their parents. in the wake of being ripped from their parents at the border.

“Trump is literally holding children hostage in an attempt to force Congress to pay a $ 25 billion ransom that will fund his border wall,” Eleanor Smeal, Feminist Majority President, said today in an email to members. “These children are scared and alone in facilities that look and feel like cages. It must stop. These children must be returned to their families.”

Smeal isn’t alone in her outrage. Women on every side of the aisle—including former First Ladies Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi—have spoken out in protest of the Trump administration’s inhumane border policies. Last week, feminist and human rights activists including Smeal and a slew of lawmakers protested family separation in Washington D.C. and rallied in support of Senator Dianne Feinstein’s Keep Families Together Act, which would prohibit the Department of Homeland Security from stripping children from their mothers and fathers to discourage these families from migrating to America “at or near the port of entry within 100 miles of the border.”

White House officials have repeatedly lied to mainstream media outlets as outrage has grown over the inhumane treatment of migrant families at the border, suggesting that Democrats are responsible for the family separation policy and attempting to hold them accountable for reversing it. But families reaching the border previously were very rarely separated—and no federal law requires or suggests the family separation policy. Now, Republicans in Congress and the Trump administration are using the family separation crisis as leverage to demand funding for a multi-billion-dollar border wall, demanding that lawmakers “compromise” and pass legislation in the House and Senate fundings its construction.

The Feminist Majority has launched a petition campaign demanding that Senators and Representatives support legislation protecting migrant families and reject bills funding a border wall—and calling on the President and Vice President to put an immediate end to the practice of separating families at the border.

“Trump can single-handedly end this separation policy today if he so chooses, but so far, he has cold-heartedly refused,” Smeal wrote to members in an email announcing the action. “That means Congress must use their oversight authority to stop separating families immediately.”

Beyoncé and Jay-Z Continue to Surprise on Joint Album Everything Is Love

Leave it to Beyoncé and Jay-Z to redefine what “pulling a Beyoncé” can be. Last Saturday, the pair headlined London Stadium as part of their joint On the Run II Tour, and at the end of their career-spanning set a message flashed on the screens: “ALBUM OUT NOW.” And there it was, on the home screen of the streaming platform Tidal (in which Jay-Z and Beyoncé have a controlling stake): Everything Is Love, credited to The Carters, an exquisitely produced happy ending to the cheating-heart narrative that unspooled on Beyoncé’s gravity-defying 2016 album Lemonade and Jay-Z’s terse yet personal 2017 release 4:44.

Rumors that this power couple would someday release a joint album have long been grist for pop’s mill, with Jay telling The New York Times last year that he and his wife had been using art “almost like a therapy session.” Everything was finished just a few hours before its splashy release, although its meticulous craft suggests otherwise. (“[Beyoncé and Jay-Z] don’t have rules,” producer Andre Lyon, who worked on the album as part of the production duo Cool & Dre, told Rolling Stone. “No one can get away with the things they do—and when I say get away with, I mean pull off.”) The album recalls other blockbuster duets in R&B and hip-hop—particularly Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s besotted soul sides, as well as Method Man and Mary J. Blige’s hip-hop-minded update of that pair’s 1968 smash “You’re All I Need to Get By”—as it plays with public perceptions of the duo’s relationship. Yet it incorporates too many of-the-moment elements to feel anything but timely: There are ad-libs from the Atlanta rap upstarts Migos, beats that take cues from the minimalist hip-hop subgenre trap, lyrical rebukes to the NFL and the Grammys, and cryptic references to other boldfaced names.

Everything opens with “Summer,” a lush ballad that sounds tailor-made for song-of-the-summer status. It also sets the thematic, if not musical, tone for the rest of the album: Beyoncé and Jay have weathered the storms of previous years and are ready to get back to the drunk-in-love business of beachside fun, shared plans, and knocking the rest of the world on their heels with their individual and combined success.

Over the course of Everything’s nine songs, the duo acknowledge bumps—subpoena-brandishing investigators, streaming services who don’t share the wealth, shady friends—while remaining resilient and focused, both on each other and on their art. Beyoncé’s swagger-filled rapping is as dead-serious as it is delightful: Her half-sung, half-rapped hook on “713” flaunts her mighty pipes and streetwise skills while throwing in some vocal processing that echoes the ’90s G-funk era; her demands for “respeck on my check” on “Apes–t” reframe the wage-gap issue in a radio-ready way; and her admonition of Spotify on the flinty, Pharrell-assisted “Nice” ends with a quote from the 1998 cult flick Half-Baked that’s as unprintable as it is cheer-inducing. Jay’s boasts are also in ample supply as he shouts out sellout crowds and big-ticket brands, although in a continuation of the openness he exhibited on 4:44, he pulls back the curtain on the couple’s origin story on “713” while also noting that life for black men in America is only made easier by black women.

Everything Is Love closes with “Black Effect” and “Lovehappy,” both of which return to the string-laden classic-soul sonics of the album’s opeer. The former examines America’s complex racial politics before making a simple declaration: “The Chitlin’ Circuit is stopped/ Now we in stadiums,” Jay declares, calling back to the path black musicians had to take during the era of racial segregation while flicking at how he and his wife have reached music’s highest echelons not just in their home country, but around the world. “Lovehappy,” a gorgeously plush ballad with sparkling synths and trilling strings, ends things on a hopeful note, the couples’ back-and-forth banter sounding like it was taken from the therapy sessions Jay mentioned (“Love is deeper than your pain and I believe you can change,” Beyoncé growls at one point) before bubbling over into a sighing “happy in love.”

Nearly two decades after their first meeting (the encounter Jay describes in “713” happened in 2000), Beyoncé and Jay-Z have ascended to celebrity’s highest heights by playing it close to the vest. They’re the masters of indulging the gossip-industrial complex’s hunger for “the real story” while also holding on tight to whatever the actual story might be. Everything Is Love’s melding of the personal and the imperial, the old-school and the next-wave, and the soulful and the stubborn give away the real story: Years later, The Carters still inspire each other to push harder and aim higher as they salute their love of each other, and of their art.

10 Star Trek Cameos That Are Out of This World

Star Trek has been around for more than five decades, and in that time, it’s attracted its fair share of big names from the world of movies, music and even actual science. In fact, a surprising amount of modern Holywood icons actually got their break on Star Trek, appearing in small roles in both ‘Trek movies and episodes while working as jobbing actors.

There are almost too many of these blink-and-you’ll-miss them cameos to choose from. But now, after weeks of arguments we managed to whittle them down to our ten favourite.

Without further ado, here are the coolest cameos in the history of Star Trek.

Dwayne Johnson

Star Trek Dwayne Johnson.

Before he made the move from wrestling ring to cinema screen, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson appeared in a 2000 episode of Star Trek: Voyager entitled “Tsunkatse.” The ep’s story revolves around a blood sport playing out in an arena on an alien planet. In a nice case of two fandoms colliding, Dwayne plays a Pendari warrior who ends up defeating Seven of Nine with the help of The Rock’s signature move, Rock Bottom. Funnily enough, he isn’t the only wrestler to appear in Star Trek, with Big Show also showing up in Enterprise episode “Borderlands” as a slave trader.

Mick Fleetwood

Star Trek Mick Fleetwood.

Fun fact –Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood wasn’t new to acting when he cameoed in Star Trek, having previously played a resistance leader in The Running Man. But at least you actually saw his face in that movie. When Mick showed up as an Antedian dignitary in Next Generation episode “Manhunt” in 1989, he was buried under a mountain of fishy prosthetics. Making him pretty much unrecognisable. Still, the role was a juicy one, with Fleetwood’s character revealed as something of a terrorist.

Seth MacFarlane

Family Guy creator guy Seth MacFarlane LOVES Star Trek — and he hasn’t been shy about his favourite fandom. As a teen he made the above fan film with his friends. Hell, he even manages to work Trek references into pretty much all of his shows. And now he’s had a character named after him. Still, nothing can beat actually being IN Star Trek, and in 2005 Seth played engineer Rivers in Enterprise episodes “The Forgotten” and “Affliction.” If that wasn’t enough Seth MacTreklane for you, more recently he created and starred in Star Trek homage The Orville.

Sarah Silverman

Star Trek Sarah Silverman.

Comedian Sarah Silverman played astronomer Rain Robinson in the Voyager two-parter “Future’s End.” In this double-pronged outing, the Star Trek crew meet Silverman when they travel back to 1996 Los Angeles. According to a Tweet by producer Bryan Fuller, the showrunners liked Silverman so much that they considered bring her onboard as a series regular. Though that idea was apparently nixed when Jeri Ryan went full-t
