Edie Campbell and Liya Kebede Come Together for Alberta Ferretti’s Fall 2018 Campaign

Alberta Ferretti likes to keep us guessing when it comes to its advertising campaigns, never settling for a tried and tested formula. The Italian fashion label brought on photographer Steven Meisel for the Spring 2017 campaign, Tim Walker for Fall 2017 and Mario Sorrenti for Spring 2018. This season, it’s David Sims capturing the brand’s Fall 2018 campaign in his London studio with Vogue Paris fashion director Aleksandra Woroniecka on styling duties (replacing Carine Roitfeld). Gone is last season’s cast too, in favor of models Edie Campbell and Liya Kebede, starring in the dark and moody series of images.

Members of our forums were quick to sound off on the campaign. “Not surprised it looks so Vogue Paris since Aleksandra Woroniecka is fashion director at VP! I guess she brings some easiness and a sense of effortless French style to the brand. I like it,” approved elle_gb.

“I love it, very Vogue Paris,” echoed GERGIN.

“Reminds me way too much of VP, but Liya’s shot looks great,” Benn98 noted.

“Don’t know why but it’s giving me Isabel Marant vibes,” pointed out 333101. “But I’m pleased Liya is part of the cast!”

Forum member vetements also saw some hints of Isabel Marant. “Alberta Ferretti to me is just another pretty clothing brand that is wearable but this campaign is shot so beautifully it actually made me took notice, guess that’s how a successful campaign should be. It also gave me Isabel Marant vibes, I think probably those knee-high boots,” he said.

Perickles also showed Liya some love, writing, “Very nice! I love Liya Kebede’s shots, they look so retro and chic at the same time. Her hair and dark eyes are very intense.”

“Love Liya’s shot,” raved LustforFashion.

Naomi Campbell Walks Arise Fashion Week

Six years after the last Arise Fashion Week, the event that billed itself as Africa’s premier fashion showcase despite strong competition from rival platforms in South Africa and Nigeria made a comeback — and made it with a strong statement, care of supermodel Naomi Campbell walking down the runway.
Campbell jetted into Lagos, Nigeria last Thursday, and on Friday opened Nigerian designer Lanre Da Silva Ajayi’s show in a shimmering metallic gold gown with a fringed gold skirt. The audience was totally unprepared for the supermodel surprise. Then she opened the celebrated South African design duo Kluk CGDT’s fashion show, strutting along the catwalk in a glamorous fringed lilac geometric-print coat dress.  She elicited whoops of approval from the audience.  “We are so honored,” Malcolm Kluk and Christiaan Gabriel Du Toit said.
Campbell’s presence in Lagos was expected as part of her AFW promotional duties, which included meeting with Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari; she toured a luxury development with him. But no one expected her to actually walk any of the shows.

Naomi Campbell and Marc Jacobs Design T-shirt for World AIDS Day

In 2008, Naomi Campbell posed for a T-shirt as part of Marc Jacobs’ “Protect the Skin You’re In” campaign against skin cancer. Nearly 10 years later, the two are pairing up once more on another T-shirt benefiting a different cause.
After attending a World AIDS Day event at the United Nations last year, Campbell came up with the idea to partner with a designer on an official T-shirt for the United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, or UNAIDS. Campbell says she called Jacobs to see if he’d be interested, and “Marc being Marc — he’s an amazing, loyal friend for 31 years — said, ‘Absolutely, I want to do this.’”
The partnership resulted in a limited-edition T-shirt that will raise funds for UNAIDS activities to support those around the world who are living with or are affected by HIV. The shirt will go on sale Friday — World AIDS Day — and will retail for $ 55 on marcjacobs.com and in select Marc Jacobs stores.
“Naomi’s long history of commitment to humanitarianism is both remarkably commendable and genuine,” Jacobs said. “I was honored to be asked by her to collaborate on this T-shirt in support of UNAIDS as a continued effort to raise awareness for this

Tina Campbell Clarifies Why She Voted For Trump On ‘The Real’

Mary Mary siblings Erica and Tina Campbell dropped by The Real today (Oct. 5) to talk about the final season of their self-titled WEtv reality series, but the first order of business was Tina Campbell’s recent comments about why she voted for Donald Trump.

Tina told The Root that she voted for Trump over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election because he aligned more with her Christian values.

“That’s not what I said,” Tina began when asked about it on The Real.

“What I said is, if doing your campaign what you said appealed to me and appealed to my Christian values more than the other candidate, then when it comes down to it, I chose based on my faith.

“I didn’t really like either one of the candidates if I could just be honest, but it was two people that had the chance of winning, and so I voted based on my faith.”

Tina went on to insist that she does not agree with everything Trump has done since taking office.

“And do I choose to give any more of my time to anybody who has an opinion about my right to vote and who I vote for and what’s behind it? Not at all, so what’s the next question?”

Although Tina wanted to move on, the Trump talk continued – with Erica chiming in on being rebuffed by political commentator Angela Rye while trying to defend her sister.
