Edie Campbell and Liya Kebede Come Together for Alberta Ferretti’s Fall 2018 Campaign

Alberta Ferretti likes to keep us guessing when it comes to its advertising campaigns, never settling for a tried and tested formula. The Italian fashion label brought on photographer Steven Meisel for the Spring 2017 campaign, Tim Walker for Fall 2017 and Mario Sorrenti for Spring 2018. This season, it’s David Sims capturing the brand’s Fall 2018 campaign in his London studio with Vogue Paris fashion director Aleksandra Woroniecka on styling duties (replacing Carine Roitfeld). Gone is last season’s cast too, in favor of models Edie Campbell and Liya Kebede, starring in the dark and moody series of images.

Members of our forums were quick to sound off on the campaign. “Not surprised it looks so Vogue Paris since Aleksandra Woroniecka is fashion director at VP! I guess she brings some easiness and a sense of effortless French style to the brand. I like it,” approved elle_gb.

“I love it, very Vogue Paris,” echoed GERGIN.

“Reminds me way too much of VP, but Liya’s shot looks great,” Benn98 noted.

“Don’t know why but it’s giving me Isabel Marant vibes,” pointed out 333101. “But I’m pleased Liya is part of the cast!”

Forum member vetements also saw some hints of Isabel Marant. “Alberta Ferretti to me is just another pretty clothing brand that is wearable but this campaign is shot so beautifully it actually made me took notice, guess that’s how a successful campaign should be. It also gave me Isabel Marant vibes, I think probably those knee-high boots,” he said.

Perickles also showed Liya some love, writing, “Very nice! I love Liya Kebede’s shots, they look so retro and chic at the same time. Her hair and dark eyes are very intense.”

“Love Liya’s shot,” raved LustforFashion.

Come one, come all: Our annual Art Yard Sale is back, Sun 3rd June, 2018

Step inside our Brighton Fringe Festival street market, and buy art direct from the artists who create it

The Fringe Festival event we’ve been waiting for the entire month of May is almost here – it’s so close we can almost touch it! Yes, we’re talking about the annual artrepublic Art Yard Sale and yes, maybe we’re a little biased. But we’re excited because we genuinely love sharing this event with you.

artrepublic Art Yard Sale

This coming Sunday (3rd June 2018) we’ll be setting up shop/ stalls in Jubilee Square in Brighton where, between 11am and 5pm, a great selection of artrepublic’s family of artists will be turning into market hawkers for the day, selling their artworks to you direct.

Here’s a taste of last year’s event

If you’ve never been to the Art Yard Sale before and that’s all a little too vague for you, this is what you need to know:

The artrepublic Art Yard Sale has been running for the past three years and, despite the crazy weather in its first year, the event has become bigger and more popular each year.

The lineup of artists changes each year, so you never experience the same sale twice. This year you’ll find a range of talent from Art + Believe to Joe Webb, via RYCA, COY! Communications, Maria Rivans and Benjamin Thomas Taylor, to name just a few.

COY! Communications Benjamin Thomas Taylor Joe Webb
COY! Communications Benjamin Thomas Taylor Joe Webb

The joy of the sale is that the artists themselves sell their work to you directly, whether it’s limited edition prints, one-off originals or special-price works. The pieces cross a whole range of styles, techniques and finishes, so there really is something for everyone.

artrepublic ‘funny’ money is the only money accepted by the artists on site, for various reasons including general security. It’s not quite the same thing as Monopoly money, but it works like this: on the day of the sale, you can change regular cash (pound sterling, that is) for artrepublic money in our nearby gallery on Brighton’s Bond Street, between 9 and 11am. You can also change money at the sale itself, but we would recommend doing it early so you don’t miss out on the art you have your eye on. (See more about our ‘funny’ money T&Cs at the Art Yard Sale website)

As well as art, there’s live music and performances throughout the day from the best of Brighton’s very own buskers – show them a little love if you’re enjoying their work, too.

We think that’s enough reasons for you to come join in the fun in the North Laines this Sunday, 3rd June, 11am-5pm. Help us see the Brighton Fringe Festival out in style.

If you need any further information about the Art Yard Sale, visit artyardsale.co.uk or drop into the gallery to ask one of our art advisors.

For more news stories and events visit our Brighton Gallery page.

James Bay makes a vow to stick around for years to come at HMV signing

OHMYGOSSIP — James Bay made a vow to keep making music for years to come as he celebrated the release of his second LP, ‘Electric Light’, at HMV Oxford Street on Friday night (18.05.18).
The 27-year-old singer/songwriter thanked his fans for getting him to where he is today following the epic journey he’s been on since releasing his debut album, ‘Chaos and the Calm’, three years ago.
James treated the intimate room to an acoustic set of ‘Just For Tonight’, ‘Pink Lemonade’, ‘Wild Love’ and ‘Us’ from the new record, as well as fan favourite, ‘Hold Back The River’, from the first.
Speaking before his set, James said: “I know it’s been a while.
“Thank you for waiting.
“It’s amazing you guys are here for the second album. I will see you on the third, I’ll see you on fourth and fifth.
I wouldn’t be stood up here without you.”

Here’s Why DragCon Was Every ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Fan’s Dream Come True

The fourth annual DragCon death-dropped its way into Los Angeles over the weekend, flooding the floors of the LA Convention Center with a sea of fabulous fashion and must-have merch.

It was a veritable paradise for fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race, with the opportunity to meet past contestants and catch hilarious references from the show around every corner. (Quite literally, in fact, since each row of the convention was named after a reference that only the Drag Race fandom would understand. See: Stacy Layne Lane.) Here are some of the moments from the three-day weekend that left Drag Race fans gagging.

The Queens

Over 90 contestants from the reality show were in attendance, including every queen from Season 10. Fans had an opportunity to visit their favorite queens’ booths for a meet-and-greet session or see them strut their stuff while sashaying in between panels. Shangela brought her Game of Thrones references from All Stars 3 to life by dressing as Daenerys Targaryen, being carried in by her own version of the Unsullied.

Saturday morning kicked off with the Crowned Queens Walk, which had past Drag Race winners Sasha Velour, Sharon Needles, Alaska, Jinkx Monsoon, and Bebe Zahara Benet sashaying down the pink carpet. But it was All Stars 3 winner Trixie Mattel that stole the show by riding in on a pink motorized Barbie mobile.

The Merch

DragCon is not only an opportunity for queens to meet their fans, it’s also a great way for them to make some cold, hard cash. Queens sell merchandise with their Drag Race catchphrases and made-up faces plastered all over them, and fans can’t get enough. But it’s wise to get in while you’re still hot. During Season 8, Naomi Smalls’ booth with Kim Chi had a line that wrapped around the convention center, but just two years later, it was a lot easier to get a pic with the long-legged queen. Who had one of the longest lines full of fans waiting to meet her? Well, it was Season 10 legend Miss Vanjie, of course. Get those cookies, honey!

Thorgy Thor was selling “Ugh. Jesus. Gross” shirts, in honor of her response to being eliminated on All Stars 3 and Bianca Del Rio made an appearance on Saturday, signing copies of her new book, Blame It On Bianca Del Rio.

The Panels

Fans got to listen to their favorite Drag Race stars deliver pearls of wisdom and behind-the-scenes secrets at the dozens of panels that took place throughout the weekend. Although fan-favorite Katya announced earlier this year that she was taking a break from her drag persona, she showed up out of drag to give a DEB talk — a parody of the popular TED talks that delved into the Drag Entertainment Business.

For all the gaymers in attendance, there was a panel called Gay for Play: Queer Culture and Video Games, in which panelists discussed how growing up queer and being a gamer influenced their lives. Season 10 stunner Kameron Michaels was one of the panelists, and she dressed as Chun-Li from Street Fighter.

One of the best moments of DragCon always takes place at the end, when RuPaul delivers motherly advice during her Keynote speech. But what was everyone’s favorite moment of her speech this year? Well, it was a surprise appearance by Miss Vanjie, again! (Has a first-to-go-home loser ever been such a WINNER in all of Drag Race history??)

Did you attend DragCon? What were your favorite moments? Tweet us your best pics and videos and let us know how you kiki’ed with the queens.

Face ID on Android

A report a few days ago said that Apple has a two-year lead on Android rivals when it comes to the adoption of advanced 3D face-scanning technologies. Many Android device makers may be in a hurry to copy the iPhone X look and feel, and we’ve seen dozens of notch clones already, but these notch bezels won’t house TrueDepth-like cameras.

New reports say that Android device makers will have to wait one more year to deploy devices with 3D-sensing capabilities. When these devices arrive, they might not be Galaxy or Pixel phones. And they might not even launch in international markets at first.

7 Anime That Need to Come to Crunchyroll or Funimation

Streaming services, such as Crunchyroll and Funimation, have dominated the anime market in the West. However, despite their extensive libraries, they are still missing a few noteworthy titles. So, here are seven anime series that are unavailable on major streaming services (including Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime) that we want to watch — legally.

Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin

anime not available crunchyroll or other streaming services rainbow nisha rokubou no shichinin

Taking place ten years after WW2, Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin follows six teenage boys at Shounan Special Reform School. Assigned to the same cell, they meet and form a close friendship with their cellmate Rokurouta Sakuragi, a former boxer.

Together they endure severe and undue punishment from the ruthless Ishihara, a senior guard, and the pedophile doctor, Gisuke Sasaki. They must gather all their strength to withstand this hell before they can re-enter society. But, will they survive these brutal conditions? And, if they do, what awaits them outside of prison?

The series gives a face to the hardships that took place after the war. Of course, the abuse that the characters endure leaves a lasting impact on the audience. However, it also teaches viewers about empathy, positivity and the consequences of criminal behavior.

Aoi Bungaku Series

anime not available crunchyroll or other streaming services aoi bungaku series

Aoi Bungaku adapts six modern classics of Japanese literature: No Longer Human, Run, Melos!, Kokoro, Hell Screen, The Spider’s Thread, and In the Forest, Under Cherries in Full Bloom. The themes that this series touches upon are universal. From its post-war themes, such as suicide and depression in No Longer Human, to Kokoro’s straightforward storytelling about love, these adaptations of Japanese classics have a piece of their respective authors in them. We would love to see this powerful series hit a major streaming service soon. It would be a great way to introduce Japanese literature to the masses.

Nana

anime not available crunchyroll or other streaming services nana

Released more than a decade ago, this anime drama series has become a cult classic. But, unfortunately, Nana is not available on streaming services, such as Crunchyroll or FUNimation.

The anime tells the story of two young women with the same given name, Nana. First, we have Nana Komatsu, a naive girl who depends on and clings to those around her. So much so, that she ends up traveling to Tokyo to chase after her boyfriend.

Second, we have the enigmatic punk rocker Nana Osaki, who has dreams to make it big as a professional singer. Like Komatsu, Osaki travels to Tokyo but leaves her band and boyfriend behind.

By chance, the two young women meet and end up getting an apartment together. As time wears on, their friendship grows stronger, with each becoming each other’s support system.

Bartender

anime not available crunchyroll or other streaming services bartender

They say that bartenders make perfect therapists. They lend a listening ear to their patrons and serve them drinks. Such is the case with Ryuu Sasakura, the bartender of a little bar, in the anime series, Bartender.

He serves each customer a delicious cocktail dubbed “The Glass of the Gods” along with some helpful advice. But besides offering booze-filled therapy sessions, the show regales viewers with history and facts about alcohol. For example, did you know that Tequila is one of the world’s four great spirits? Neither did we.

The anthology anime series has an overflowing amount of in-depth discussions on mundane issues. A “feel good” anime, each episode we watch Ryuu try to heal his patrons with advice, alcohol, or both. If you are a fan of character-driven narratives and slice-of-life anime, then Bartender is for you.

Hell Girl (Seasons 1 through 3)

anime not available crunchyroll or other streaming services hell girl

After nearly ten years, a new season of Hell Girl finally premiered last year. The series follows Ai Enma who runs the Hell Correspondence website. Along with her three companions, they grant revenge wishes. But, there’s a catch. Once you condemn a soul to hell, you will also face eternal damnation.

While the latest adaptation of the Hell Girl has been a bit disappointing, the previous seasons did manage to gather a few loyal fans. But, unfortunately, those seasons are no longer available on popular streaming services.

Katanagatari

anime not available crunchyroll or other streaming services katanagatari

The Edo period is synonymous with lavish sword-fighting styles. Shichika Yasuri possesses a unique style, Kyotouryuu, a technique which allows the user to wield his or her body like a blade. But, despite how cool this is, Shichika and his sister live in exile on an island.

One day, Shichika meets a stranger only known as “Togame.” She persuades the young man to join her search for the 12 Deviant Blades crafted by Kiki Shikizaki, a reclusive swordsmith. Out of the many highly regarded swords he created during the last war, only those 12 were crafted with the aid of magic.

Set in Edo-era Japan, Katanagatari is unlike the other anime series that take place during this period. It is a visual treat that showcases an era rife with art, culture, and swordsmanship.

Shion no Oh, The Flowers of Hard Blood

anime not available crunchyroll or other streaming services shion no ou

Shion has had a hard life. When she was five years old, her parents were murdered in front of her. But instead of killing the only witness to the crime, the killer orders Shion to forget the gruesome murder.

Now, eight years later, Shion has found happiness with her adopted family, the Yasuoka, and has become one of the best shogi (Japanese form of chess) players around. However, fame comes at hefty price, as Shion encounters jealous rivals and her parent’s murderer.

The shogi tournament takes center stage in the series, framing the narrative of this wonderful anime. The story, mystery, and Shion evolve with every shogi move. As a result, the series builds a dark ambiance — a theme any mystery aficionado would love — that comes to an epic conclusion. Unfortunately, Shion no Oh is not legally available on any well-known streaming site.

‘The Bachelor’: Krystal’s Claws Come Out on Intense Two-On-One Date with Arie

Arie Luyendyk Jr. took the ladies to Paris on this week’s episode of The Bachelor and went on a total of four dates in order to continue his pursuit of finding a wife.

But not everyone could find romance in the City of Love, and three of our bachelorettes — including two early frontrunners — had to say their goodbyes.

Who got a rose? Let’s break it down below.

The Solo Dates

If Lauren B. had one word to describe her date with Arie in Paris, it would be “wow.” But if we had one word to describe the date, it would be “awkward.”

The duo got into a gondola together and then barely spoke for the next few hours. Despite literally no chemistry, Arie said he hoped that she eventually would open up because he’s so attracted to her.

He decided to show her how it’s done by telling an emotional story about his ex-girlfriend leaving him after a miscarriage. She returned the favor by discussing the engagement she had to break off and in the end, all the sad stories were enough to score her a rose.

Jacqueline was the other lucky recipient of a one-on-one date with Arie and it was nice to finally get to know her. She talked about how she’ll be in school for the next six years trying to get her Ph.D. and Arie worried about how that would affect his life. He also admitted he was scared that she was too smart for him. But ultimately he decided intelligence didn’t have to be a turnoff and gave Jacqueline a rose.

Moulin Rouge

The group date was a visit to the famous Parisian cabaret the Moulin Rouge. And if the Baz Luhrmann film of the same name taught us anything, it’s that all you need is love. Of course, Nicole Kidman dies of tuberculosis at the end so some magical moments don’t always go as planned.

The ladies performed for Arie in outrageous costumes full of feathers and jewels, except for on their bottoms which censors blurred out because of how exposed they were.

After the cocktail party, Arie gave Bekah M. the rose, which also won her the honor of performing with him in a Moulin Rouge show. She looked amazing in a blue costume and a blonde wig, while the other women watched from a balcony where they forget to look like they didn’t want to murder her.

The 2-on-1 Date

Krystal really leaned into her role as the season’s villain on this episode, delivering soundbytes with the raised eyebrow and evil smile usually reserved for animated Disney bad guys.

She announced that it would be Kendall joining her on the 2-on-1 date with Arie, and then instantly laughed in the taxidermy lover’s face before physically circling her like prey.

Krystal went further than simply trying to intimidate her opponent though. When she had alone time with the bachelor, she said that she didn’t think that Kendall was emotionally ready to be in a relationship or to get married. Say what you want about the girl, but she’s so good at being bad.

When Kendall found out that Krystal was trying to plant seeds of doubt in Arie’s mind, she responded with surprising empathy and tried to have a heartfelt chat with the breathy blonde about why she’s in so much pain. Never one to try to make an emotional connection with another woman in the house, Krystal mocked Kendall and told her she doesn’t need her advice.

The date continued with a beautiful dinner outside of the Eiffel Tower in which Krystal swirled her wine while smirking like a sea witch who just stole a mermaid’s beautiful voice. But ultimately Arie gave his rose to Kendall and Bachelor Nation breathed a collective sigh of relief. When her luggage was taken away, the other contestants actually cheered. Hurrican Krystal had finally disappated.

Aside from Krystal’s elimination, it’s Jenna and (surprisingly) single mom Chelsea who didn’t receive a rose from Arie during the ceremony at the end of the episode. That leaves us with seven women left as we head to Tuscany for next week’s episode of The Bachelor. See you then!

Natalie Woods’ 1981 Drowning Ruled a ‘Suspicious Death’ After New Witnesses Come Forward

LOS ANGELES — New witnesses have emerged in the 1981 drowning of actress Natalie Wood, prompting investigators to deem it a “suspicious death” and name her former husband, 87-year-old actor Robert Wagner, a “person of interest,” Los Angeles sheriff’s officials said.

For nearly four decades, mystery and speculation have swirled around the death of the actress who was nominated for three Academy Awards and starred in “West Side Story” and “Rebel Without a Cause.”

She was on a yacht with Wagner, actor Christopher Walken and the boat captain on Thanksgiving weekend of 1981. After a night of drinking, her body was found floating in the waters off Southern California’s Catalina Island. She was 43.

Investigators initially ruled it an accident but reopened the case in 2011 to see whether Wagner or anyone else played a role after the boat’s captain said he heard the couple arguing the night of her disappearance. The coroner’s office amended Wood’s death certificate the next year to include “drowning and other undetermined factors.”

In a statement Thursday, sheriff’s spokeswoman Nicole Nishida said new witnesses interviewed since the case was reopened gave statements that “portray a new sequence of events on the boat that night.”

One of the witnesses described hearing yelling and crashing sounds coming from the couple’s stateroom, she said. Shortly after that, separate witnesses heard a man and woman arguing on the back of the boat and believe the voices were those of Wood and Wagner, Nishida said.

The statements differed from the original version of events provided by witnesses, including those who were on the boat, she said.

The sheriff’s department said Wagner is considered a person of interest.

“Do we have enough to make an arrest at this moment? No,” Nishida said.

The police statement was issued after CBS News aired an interview with Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. John Corina, who said he doesn’t believe Wagner has told the whole story about what happened.

Investigators have said Wagner has not been interviewed since the probe was reopened. They said in 2013 that they had tried at least 10 times to interview him but he refused.

Wagner has denied any involvement in his wife’s death and no charges have been filed. His publicist, Alan Nierob, declined to comment Thursday.

Conflicting versions of what happened on the yacht have contributed to the mystery of her death. Wood, Wagner and Walken had all been drinking heavily in the hours before the actress disappeared.

Wagner wrote in a 2008 memoir that he and Walken argued that night. He wrote that Walken went to bed and he stayed up for a while, but when he went to bed, he noticed that his wife and a dinghy that had been attached to the yacht were missing.

Those $5.99 Rotisserie Chickens Come With a Side of Serious Overspending

A few months ago, I wrote about the tricks grocery stores use to get you to spend more — from the psychological to the sensory.

Then, I appeared on a local TV station to talk about those tactics. A big one: Stores capitalize on your keen sense of smell, using everything from the presence of freshly baked bread to the placement of fragrant flowers.

My father, who watches all my appearances (thanks, Dad), sent me a text message refreshingly free of context after the segment aired.

“It’s those rotisserie chickens.”

Yes, my dad has a weak spot when it comes to grocery shopping, and it is that slowly rotating selection of golden-brown chickens. And I bet a lot of you have the same weakness, too.

Rotisserie Chickens Are a Trap (but It’s Not the Chickens’ Fault)

Grocery stores started selling ready-to-eat rotisserie chickens in the 1990s, nodding to the popularity of Boston Market (then Boston Chicken) and its chicken dinner offerings of the time, The Wall Street Journal explains. And while a lot has changed since the ‘90s, grocery stores still sell piles of whole cooked chickens at well below $ 10 each.

With today’s intense competition to attract and retain grocery shoppers, stores are constantly experimenting with these prepared chickens, using spice varieties, price deals and supply-chain adjustments. Costco is even building its own chicken processing plant so it doesn’t have to pay suppliers.

If you want to roast a whole chicken yourself, it might cost more than the $ 5.99 or so that some stores charge for these chickens to gather the ingredients. Then you have to get your oven perfectly toasty for the task of cooking the bird. So grocery stores keep rotisserie chicken prices low, luring you with convenience and that roasty-toasty scent.

And then they hope you’ll buy side dishes.

Have you ever wandered into your local store after work and bought just a hot chicken? You probably picked up potato salad, macaroni or maybe a few items you just remembered you needed.

Suddenly, you’re not a $ 5.99 customer. Your additional purchases, especially other prepared foods with higher markups, make up for the profit the grocer lost on that priced-just-right chicken.

Buy the Chicken, but Remember This

We could sit here all day and debate whether it’s worth it to buy a pre-roasted chicken, but it comes down to the same question we ask every time we talk about going out for fast food or a leisurely sit-down dinner: Are you willing to pay for convenience?

If so, a rotisserie chicken is one of the best quick-and-easy buys out there. You can feed a small family a hearty meal, slice and dice to add chicken to your favorite recipes, or portion out leftovers to last your party of one several meals.

You don’t have to resist the powerful, mouthwatering pull of a rotisserie chicken when you go to the grocery store — as long as you reconsider the extras that try to leap into your basket before you head for the register.

A second woman has come forward accusing Dustin Hoffman of sexual misconduct

TwitterFacebook

If Dustin Hoffman thought those sexual misconduct allegations were going to blow over quickly, he’s learning now just how wrong he was.

Actress Kathryn Rossetter has published a devastating essay in The Hollywood Reporter describing his repeated violation of her when they worked together in the 1980s.

The story arrives one month after Anna Graham Hunter shared her own account of being harassed by Hoffman, and days after John Oliver grilled Hoffman about the accusations during a public screening.

In the early 1980s, Hoffman helped Rossetter land a role opposite him in the Broadway revival Death of a Salesman. (She also co-starred with him in the 1985 TV movie based on the same play.) At first, she says, she saw Hoffman as “my hero.”  Read more…

Strictly Come Dancing’s Debbie McGee hits back at claims her ballet training gives her an unfair advantage

STRICTLY’S Debbie McGee has hit back furiously at claims she has too much dance experience to be a fair competitor on Strictly Come Dancing.

The 59-year-old former magician’s assistant received 39 points this week and has left some BBC viewers convinced she’s streets ahead of other contestants like Mollie King, Davood Ghadami and Gemma Atkinson.

Debbie danced a Cats-themed American Smooth this week

Debbie, best-known as Paul Daniels’ widower, has now come out swinging at critics who say her intensive ballet training in her youth and performances throughout her showbiz career have given her the edge.

Talking to the Mail On Sunday, the former Mrs Daniels blasted: ‘The people who say that really have no understanding of dance.

“When I did ballet I stopped as a dancer when I was about 23. That training in a way is a disadvantage because the muscles were trained differently.”

She added: “I haven’t done that for over 30 years.”

WARNING: Use of this image is subject to the terms of use of BBC Pictures' Digital Picture

The dancer says she does not have much more experience than the others[/caption]

In the 1970s, Debbie danced with the Iranian National Ballet and established her own company, Ballet Imaginaire – and continued to practice dance when working with husband Paul for decades.

Now Debbie has been tipped as a hot favourite to win the BBC show and she’s currently locked in a bitter rivalry with the equally strong contender Alexandra Burke.

Her American Smooth to Memory from the musical Cats on Saturday night left her at the top of the leaderboard with Alexandra.

But while Debbie acknowledges that she “makes it look so easy”, she wants to emphasise to viewers that it takes hard work – too much hard work, at times.

She went on: “[Viewers] don’t realise the training I put in and how awful I am on Monday and the progress I make between a Monday and a Saturday. You need to ask Giovanni about that.”

Before this weekend’s shows Debbie had a backstage meltdown over how many hours Giovanni Pernice, her pro partner, was making her train.

And she’s been forced to deny there is romance blossoming between her and the younger Italian after she lost her husband Paul last year.

She said: “People want me to be in a relationship with him and I’m really sorry to disappoint them….

Debbie says it’s flattering that fans think she could be romancing Giovanni

“For a woman of my age it’s very flattering that people think there might be a romance. I do have a little chuckle to myself. We have the greatest working partnership and do have chemistry.

“We are great mates and I think that’s probably more special than if there was anything else going on.”

But fans were certainly given more clues that Mollie King is romancing her partner AJ Pritchard this week when she gave him a special gift and appeared to kiss him during their rumba.

Stars Come Out for VH1 Save The Music Foundation 20th Anniversary Gala

On Monday, VH1 Save The Music Foundation held its 20th Anniversary Gala in New York. The nonprofit has spent the last 20 years revitalizing public school music programs, supporting the professional development of music teachers, and providing $ 53 million worth of new musical instruments and other resources to more than 2,000 public schools across the country.

Joining the Foundation in celebrating this milestone included award-winning actress, singer, songwriter, and producer Queen Latifah, a Newark, New Jersey, native who was honored for her contributions to music and her work with low-income students. Queen Latifah and the Foundation recently announced a five-year, $ 5 million effort to revive music education in 38 schools in her hometown.

Other honorees on hand included Steve Aoki, who received the Music Innovator Award. A Grammy Award-nominated DJ and producer, Aoki was recognized for the impact he’s had on the music industry, his philanthropy through the Steve Aoki Charitable Fund, and his advocacy of music education.

Toyota, which served as an event sponsor, acknowledged the work of DJ Khaled with the #ToyotaGiving Award for his role as a champion of school music programs and his work as the national spokesman for the VH1 Save The Music sister organization GET SCHOOLED.

“I am deeply humbled by the opportunity to be a part of the amazing work that VH1 Save The Music does,” Queen Latifah is quoted as saying in a statement. “This is bigger than just teaching kids how to play instruments—it’s about using music to bring communities together and giving all children a shot at a brighter future. This work can’t stop until every child can access music programs as part of their education.”

“I’m honored to be here to celebrate VH1 Save The Music’s 20th anniversary,” Steve Aoki said in his acceptance speech. “Thank you for this award. Tremendous work has been done bringing back music programs to students across the country. I’m proud to be included with a group of incredible musicians who give back to their communities. I don’t know where I would be without music. These incredible programs will help build the future of music, and I can’t wait to see what the next 20 years of music technology will bring to kids!”

Speaking of technology, VH1 Save The Music isn’t neglecting it, since tech has had a huge impact on the world of music. The Foundation’s new Music Tech Grant, introduced at the gala by Steve Aoki, will invest in American public high schools to fund the hardware, software, and musical instruments needed for audio engineering, recording, and production.

“Not all children in America are afforded the same chances to succeed, but we believe in the power of music to help students fulfill their potential. That’s why we are more committed than ever to bringing music education to students who need it most,” said Henry Donahue, executive director of VH1 Save The Music Foundation, in a statement.

“Not only is music education proven to help students be more successful, but we believe it’s every child’s right to access music and art within their school and community. With the continued support of our partners in communities across the U.S., we can help make music an essential piece of every child’s education in the next 20 years.”

This Walking Dead Fan Favorite Could Come Back for the FTWD Crossover

Life is looking up for fans of The Walking Dead universe. Not only is Season 8 rapidly approaching, but producers also recently confirmed there will be a crossover with AMC’s prequel series, Fear the Walking Dead. And now? Well, if the rumors are true, a beloved TWD fan favorite may be coming back to life.

More: A Walking Dead & Fear the Walking Dead Crossover Is Happening

Don’t worry — we’re not talking about reanimating in the walker way. Rather, rumor has it that the character who will be featured on the FTWD crossover will be none other than one of TWD‘s dearly departed stars. Of course, that doesn’t exactly narrow it down. Fans of the franchise have lost many favorite characters over the years.

So who could be getting their second coming? Get ready for the return of the best one-liners on TV, because it looks like we may be seeing Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) in the near future.

More: Did a Walking Dead Star Just Spoil the Season 8 Premiere?

Naturally, AMC and TWD‘s showrunners are keeping any substantial information about the crossover close to the vest. At New York ComicCon, creator Robert Kirkman did offer a hint, though, saying, “There is one character that is going to go from one show, that I will not name, to another show, that I will not name. Now, what does that mean? Because the timelines, like… how does that work? Are we going to see an interesting backstory of The Walking Dead character in Fear the Walking Dead? Or are we going to see a Fear the Walking Dead character show up in The Walking Dead and show a future version of the character?”

The former, apparently — here’s what we know.

Right after that ComicCon panel, Cudlitz tweeted, “Crazy shit is about to go down. See y’all on the other side.” Coincidence? Possibly. But, I mean, c’mon. See y’all on the other side?!

Then, during this weekend’s FTWD Season 3 finale, it was revealed our survivors would be heading to Houston, Texas. Fans of TWD quickly connected the dots to Abraham, whose backstory involved a grocery store in Houston.

More: The Walking Dead Is Ending, & the Creator Knows How

Fear the Walking Dead‘s fourth season will return with new showrunners in 2018, along with TWD showrunner Scott Gimple as an executive producer. TWD’s Season 8 premiere will air on Oct. 22 at 9 pm ET on AMC.

How Come Hulk Can Speak in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’?

If you’ve seen the below Thor: Ragnarok trailer in a cinema, you’ll know that Hulk speaking at the end pretty much much brings the house down. But how and why has he developed the power of speech? When was the precedent set? Will he be talking in the third person? And does this mean Bruce Banner is finally embracing his monstrous alter-ego? FANDOM has the skinny…

Hulk Speaking in the Comics

The precedent for Hulk talking in the comics was set early. The original Grey Hulk — who debuted in May 1962 courtesy of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby — didn’t speak, but by the time he’d gone green for Incredible Hulk #4, he was talking. Albeit in primitive fashion. And oftentimes referring to his alter-ego “Puny Banner.”

Hulk and Thor going toe-to-toe in the comics.

In the comics, when Hulk does speak, it tends to be in the third person, via statements like “Hulk crush” and “Hulk smash.” Over the years his intelligence has fluctuated as the amount of Bruce Banner in Hulk increases and decreases; more Banner meaning more talk, and less Banner, less chat.

Hulk Speaking Pre-Ragnarok

Lou Ferrigno as TV’s Hulk.

In beloved TV show The Incredible Hulk, the big guy growled and roared, but never spoke, with Stan Lee and producer Kenneth Johnson agreeing that those third-person statements would sound ridiculous when spoken in the real world.

Marvel managed to make it work in their 2008 movie The Incredible Hulk, however, with the Green Goliath shouting “Hulk Smash” while doing battle with Abomination (see above).

And in The Avengers‘ very best scene, Hulk grabs Loki, slams him into the floor five times, and walk away saying, “Puny God.” So audiences have seen Hulk speak on film before, just not as much as they’re about to see…

Hulk Speaking in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’

Mark Ruffalo as Hulk.

At the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Hulk flew off in a Quinjet. He didn’t return for Captain America: Civil War, and Thor: Ragnarok explains where he’s been. Seems Hulk’s craft was sucked into a wormhole, and deposited on the alien planet of Sakaar, where his success in a series of gladiatorial battles have turned him into something of a celebrity.

“Hulk refuses to turn back into Banner,” actor Mark Ruffalo explained to the Hall H audience at San Diego Comic-Con this past summer. “He’s actually enjoying his time on Sakaar, because he’s a gladiator champion. Which means he kicks lots of ass and he’s enjoying his life for once. And he’ll be damned if he goes back to Banner.”

Which has had something of a knock-on effect in terms of the creature’s speech, as Ruffalo revealed to the Comic-Con crowd: “He’s a little perma-hulked, and because he’s been Hulk for two years he has the vocab of a two-year-old.”

That limited vocabulary is clear from the dialogue at the end of that aforementioned trailer, where he says, “Hulk like fire. Thor like water.” Before adding, “Hulk like raging fire. Thor like smouldering fire.”

Director Taika Waititi then explained to IGN that we’ll slowly but surely start to hear Banner’s voice coming through. “I was always fascinated with the duality of Hulk and Banner, and seeing how their brains could be interconnected. Could we sometimes see Hulk and have a bit of Banner’s voice in there? Could we see Banner and have Hulk’s personality through there?”

Waititi added: “I think in this film we’re going to see that for the first time, where the two are fighting — really fighting this time — for control over the body. And Hulk talking — this idea of a more cognitive Hulk who can say sentences — that obviously has existed in the comics, but it’s something the fans want to finally see. It’s exactly what fans want to see, and what I have wanted to see.”

And we’ll all get to see that more cognitive Hulk very soon, with Thor: Rangarok hitting UK cinemas on October 24 and US screens on November 3.

Fully Loaded New Cars Come With Dangerous Distractions

WASHINGTON (AP) — The infotainment technology that automakers are cramming into the dashboard of new vehicles is making drivers take their eyes off the road and hands off the wheel for dangerously long periods of time, an AAA study says.

The study released Thursday is the latest by University of Utah professor David Strayer, who has been examining the impact of infotainment systems on safety for AAA’s Foundation for Traffic Safety since 2013. Past studies also identified problems, but Strayer said the “explosion of technology” has made things worse.

Automakers now include more infotainment options to allow drivers to use social media, email and text. The technology is also becoming more complicated to use. Cars used to have a few buttons and knobs. Some vehicles now have as many as 50 buttons on the steering wheel and dashboard that are multi-functional. There are touch screens, voice commands, writing pads, heads-up displays on windshields and mirrors and 3-D computer-generated images.

“It’s adding more and more layers of complexity and information at drivers’ fingertips without often considering whether it’s a good idea to put it at their fingertips,” Strayer said. That complexity increases the overall amount of time drivers spend trying to use the systems.

The auto industry says the new systems are better alternatives for drivers than mobile phones and navigation devices that were not designed to be used while driving.

The vehicle-integrated systems “are designed to be used in the driving environment and require driver attention that is comparable to tuning the radio or adjusting climate controls, which have always been considered baseline acceptable behaviors while driving,” said Wade Newton, a spokesman for the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers.

But Jake Nelson, AAA’s director for traffic safety advocacy and research, said drivers testing all 30 of the 2017 model year cars and light trucks took their eyes off the road and hands off the wheel while using infotainment systems. The test drivers used voice commands, touch screens and other interactive technologies to make calls, send texts, tune the radio or program navigation all while driving.

Clearly automakers haven’t worked hard enough to make the systems quick and easy to use, Nelson said. Researchers rated 23 of the 30 vehicles “very high” or “high” in terms of the attention they demanded from drivers. Seven were rated “moderate.” None required a low amount of attention to use.

Programming a destination into in-vehicle GPS navigation systems was the most distracting activity, taking drivers an average of 40 seconds to complete the task. At 25 mph (40 kph), a car can travel the length of four football fields during the time it takes to enter a destination. Previous research has shown that drivers who remove their eyes from the road for just two seconds double their risk for a crash.

Under pressure from industry, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 2012 issued voluntary safety guidelines to automakers for dashboard technology instead of enforceable safety standards. The guidelines recommend that automakers lock out the ability to program navigation systems while a car is moving. However, the ability to program navigation while driving was available in 12 vehicles in the study.

The guidelines also recommend automakers prevent drivers from texting while driving, but three-quarters of the vehicles tested permit drivers to text while the car is moving. Texting was the second-most distracting task performed by test drivers.

Drivers looked away from the road less when using voice commands, but that safety benefit was offset by the increased amount of time drivers spent interacting with the systems.

AAA said drivers should use infotainment technologies “only for legitimate emergencies or urgent, driving-related purposes.” It also urged automakers to block the ability to program navigation systems or send texts while driving. Automakers should also design infotainment systems so that they require no more attention to use than listening to the radio or an audiobook, it said.

Nearly 70 percent of U.S. adults say they want the new technologies in their vehicles, but only 24 percent feel that the technology already works perfectly, according to an opinion survey conducted for AAA.

“Drivers want technology that is safe and easy to use,” said Marshall Doney, AAA’s president and CEO, “but many of the features added to infotainment systems today have resulted in overly complex and sometimes frustrating user experiences for drivers.”

‘The Best is Yet to Come’

Dining under the low-lit wings of the Space Shuttle Endeavour, more than 350 guests honored the Kaiser Permanente Watts Counseling and Learning Center’s inspiring 50-year legacy while glimpsing an even brighter future.

“This evening is a celebration to thank all of you for your support and commitment in helping to bring better health and wellness to Watts,” said Maria T. Aguirre, director, Watts Counseling and Learning Center. “By working together, we can better support the neighborhoods where people live, work and play.”

Former clients shared their positive experiences with the center, demonstrating its ability to change lives — one life at a time.

Eden Nava-Martinez, who grew up in the nearby Florence-Firestone neighborhood, expressed gratitude for the $ 7,500 Bill Coggins Leadership Award she recently received. Learning firsthand the importance of never giving up, she graduated high school with an exceptional 4.4 grade point average. She now attends the University of California, Los Angeles, where she is majoring in mathematics.

“I want to motivate kids that being from South Central should not stop them from pursuing their dreams,” said Nava-Martinez, who plans to become a math educator. All guests invited to attend the anniversary party on Sept. 13 at the California Science Center in Los Angeles — including community partners, current and former center clients, parents, students, teachers, social workers and elected officials — have contributed to, or benefited from, the Watts Center services. The evening, themed “Honoring the Past and Shaping the Future,” completed a yearlong series of Kaiser Permanente events to acknowledge the center’s dedication for more than half a century.

A legacy of caring

Kaiser Permanente established the Watts Counseling and Learning Center two years after the 1965 Watts civil unrest to provide essential mental health, educational and outreach services for the children and families of Watts and surrounding communities, regardless of whether they were Kaiser Permanente members.

Visionaries such as Southern California Permanente Medical Group physician leaders, Raymond Kay and Edward Green, and former Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Southern California Regional Manager James Vohs, inspired the idea then known as the “Watts Project.” But Bill Coggins — the young, ambitious, licensed clinical social worker they hired — took it to a level few could imagine.

“For a seven-month period, Coggins went door to door in the community to learn what was needed to create a safe, nurturing, healthy environment where children and their families could learn, flourish and succeed,” said Edward M. Ellison, MD, executive medical director and chairman of the board, SCPMG, and co-CEO, The Permanente Federation, LLC. “The rest, as they say, is history.”

Since then, the center known as a caring refuge where everyone feels like family, continues to fulfill its motto of “Helping People Grow.”

“Our people are what make the center special, and the services provided are what make what we do unique,” said Julie Miller-Phipps, regional president, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan/Hospitals, Southern California, highlighting the broad range of specialized, low-cost programs and services the center offers.

“I made an internal commitment without telling anybody I was going to see it (the project) through,” said Coggins, who received two standing ovations at the event for his dedication and service to the center.

Referring to Kaiser Permanente’s original concept of prepaid health care and caring for workers in the community, Coggins emphasized, “Community health — it’s been there from the beginning. And without Kaiser Permanente, there would be no Kaiser Permanente Watts Counseling and Learning Center.”

An exciting future

Valued collaborations with local school districts, the city, our partners in health, community-based organizations, local government, business and the faith-based community have been key to the center’s success – and are just as critical to its future, said Miller-Phipps.

The demand for more center services and increased physical space has led Kaiser Permanente to begin exploring ways to provide more accessible medical and mental health and wellness services to our growing South Los Angeles area membership.

“We propose acquiring more land to rebuild the center and expand its programs and services,” said Miller-Phipps, noting Kaiser Permanente has been working closely with the city of Los Angeles. “This could also mean the addition of a Kaiser Permanente Medical Office building in the future. We will continue engaging with local community officials, residents, and business partners throughout the process to ensure, as in the beginning with Bill Coggins, the community voice is heard.”

“So, get ready,” said John Yamamoto, vice president, legal, government and community relations, community benefit, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan/Hospitals, to a thunderous crowd. “The best is yet to come!”

How old is Claudia Winkleman, what is the Strictly Come Dancing host’s BBC salary and who’s her husband Kris Thykier?

CLAUDIA Winkleman is known for her bubbly personality and hilarious skits on Strictly Come Dancing.

The 45-year-old hit headlines when she was revealed as the BBC’s highest-earning female star and she’s now been named as the face of the Beeb’s new cookery show, Britain’s Best Cook – here’s the lowdown…

Who is Claudia Winkleman and who are her parents?

Claudia, 45, was born in London on January 15, 1972 and is the daughter of former Sunday Express editor Eve Pollard.

Her father Barry was the former publisher of the Times Atlas Of The world.

Claudia’s parents split when she was three and both remarried in 1979.

Her mum Eve married former editor of the Daily Express Sir Nicholas Lloyd and her dad Barry wed children’s author Cindy Black.

How did Claudia break into TV?

Her first major TV gig was on regional discussion programme Central Weekend in 1991.

In 1992 she landed a role on BBC series Holiday which continued throughout the 90s.

She also interviewed celebs on This Morning and presented a few game shows including dating show Three’s a Crowd.

In 2002 she got her first daily TV role as a host on BBC Three show Liquid News.

The following year, she presented daily updates from reality show Fame Academy and in 2005, she began hosting Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two.

In 2012, it was announced that Zoë Ball would be the regular presenter of Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two while Claudia would host the results show with Tess Daly on Sunday nights.

Claudia then took over from Bruce Forsyth as Tess’ co-host in 2014 for the 12th series of the reality show.

How much does Claudia earn?

The BBC revealed its “talent list” which showcases its high-earners bringing in more than £150,000 on July 19.

Salaries of the corporation’s top earners were released so license fee payers can know where their money is going.

However, the BBC has come under fire for the large gender pay gap among their employees with Chris Evans earning £2.2million a year – four times more than its highest paid woman which is Claudia.

Only a third of its top earners are women, sparking an equality row which Director-General Tony Hall has vowed to address.

Claudia is listed as earning between £450,000 – £499,000.

Who is Claudia’s husband Kris Thykier?

Claudia married film producer Kris Thykier in 2000 in a secret wedding ceremony with just their closest family and friends in attendance.

The couple have three children and live in Connaught Square in London.

Their children are Jake, 14, Matilda, eight and Arthur, six.

What happened to her daughter Matilda?

Matilda’s suffered severe burns when her Halloween costume went up in flames in 2014.

Claudia said the costume went on fire after her daughter brushed against a candle.

Speaking about the incident in 2015, she said: “I bought her costume from a supermarket, she wanted to go as a witch so she had a witch’s hat and a cape and some stripy tights and a sort of long flowy skirt thing.

“I was talking to somebody… and then I heard her shout and she was on fire…

“It feels like she was on fire for hours, but the surgeon said that it definitely wasn’t the case and it was probably just seconds… she went up, is the only way I know how to describe it… it was a spark and she screamed out for me.

“It was like those horrific birthday candles that you blow out and then they come back…it was really fast, it was fast, it wasn’t fire like I’d seen.”

The incident prompted the government to tighten the flame retardant standards of Halloween costumes.

When is Strictly Come Dancing on TV?

Strictly Come Dancing launched on September 9 on BBC One, with the live shows kicking off on September 23.

Strictly always airs on BBC One in two parts. The main show is on Saturday normally around 7pm and the results show airs on Sunday at a similar time.

There will be a Christmas special again in 2017, with the celebrity participants expected to be announced in early November.

Who is Giovanni Pernice? Meet the Strictly Come Dancing 2017 professional dancer

ITALIAN stallion Giovanni Pernice is returning to Strictly Come Dancing as a professional dancer in the new 2017 series.

He had early success with Georgia May Foote and did less well with Laura Whitmore last year, but who will he be paired with in 2017? Here’s the low-down on him…

Who is Giovanni Pernice, how old is he and what is his background?

Giovanni Pernice is a 26-year-old professional dancer who joined Strictly in 2015.

He was born in Sicily and started dance lessons at a young age.

He’s yet to win Strictly, and says his greatest achievement to date is winning Italian Championships in 2012.

The star’s “Nato Per Vincere” tattoo means “born to win”, so hopefully his luck will transfer onto the Strictly dancefloor soon.

He says his favourite dance is the jive, as it reflects his cheekiness.

In the 2016 series Giovanni was paired with Irish presenter Laura Whitmore and they came ninth.

Is Giovanni single?

During Giovanni’s first Strictly series he was partnered with former Corrie star Georgia May Foote.

The pair fell for each other and did very well on the programme, coming runner-up.

However, just ahead of the 2016 series a year later, the couple unfortunately announced their split.

But the professional dancer put on a brave face, and took to Twitter to show his excitement of returning to the BBC One show.

He wrote: “And here I am !! The best place in the world @bbcstrictly can’t wait to start a new journey!! #excited.”

In early 2017 he was linked to another Corrie star, Katie McGlyn, but both parties denied they were dating.

A year on and Giovanni appears to be single, and he’s been a busy bee with his 2017 tour Dance Is Life.

I Survived the ‘IT’ Experience and It Was a Fan’s Nightmare Come True

For fans of IT, the house at 29 Neibolt Street is the scariest haunted house in all of fiction. The dilapidated residence serves as the gateway into Pennywise‘s sewer lair, and the heroic Losers’ Club has to traverse the house and its many monsters before they can do battle with the ancient evil.

Warner Bros and New Line Cinema have done something pretty amazing in preparation for the new big screen version of IT: they have erected a haunted house attraction in Los Angeles on the corner of Hollywood and Vine. And it looks pretty amazing.

IT is my favorite novel of all time and seeing this was like a dream come true. Or a nightmare for some folks. The Neibolt Street house was imposing and awesome to look at. It looks like it was constructed from actual set pieces from the new film. That only made the entire experience feel more authentic.

The Experience

I was part of the very first group to walk through the house and we were all excited and nervous. A guide dressed up as Georgie Denbrough in his infamous raincoat led us into the house. After walking up a spiral staircase, we were led into a room with a bunch of clown dolls. This is a recreation of the scene we’ve seen in the latest trailer where Richie Tozier gets stuck in a room full of clown dolls and puppets. These were clearly some of the props from the real movie. And there was even one standee that was modeled after the Tim Curry version of Pennywise from the 1990 miniseries.

Without spoiling the whole thing, I will tell you that you will see a number of moments from the movie recreated for your spine-tingling pleasure. We got to see the creepy slideshow where Pennywise appears as well as the bathroom where Beverly Marsh is covered in an explosion of blood. Probably the most fun moment was when we were led into a room with three doors. Each one either said, “Not Scary At All,” “Scary,” and “Very Scary.” This is actually based on a moment from the new film. Of course, we picked the “Not Very Scary At All” door first. We got an animatronic puppet behind that one. So we moved on to the “Scary” door. And this happened.

Yes, that’s me shouting like a wuss behind the camera.

If you’re in the Los Angeles area, the IT Experience is definitely worth your time. It’s a treasure trove for fans as you’ll see tons of real movie props scattered throughout the attraction, and it’s honestly awe-inspiring to stand outside of the house on Neibolt Street. Just seeing that street sign was enough to make my heart skip a beat. What a wonderful treat for fans of this epic and terrifying story.

The IT Experience is open from now until September 10 at the corner of Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles. It runs from 1 PM to 11 PM every day. IT will open in theaters on September 8. You should definitely go see it.

De-Stress Doodlers are your free massage dream (nearly) come true

Sara McGinnis

A product that entertains children and gives a free massage? Sign us up. All of us!

Invented in the UK, De-Stress Doodlers are the massage crayons of your (and your little one’s) dreams. If you’re finding summer break from school “eeeeexhausting” and that it “can leave you crying out for some well-earned relaxation,” pop one of these brightly-colored miracles in your kid’s hand, light a few flameless candles, and enjoy.

massage crayons

Yep, those are crayons your kids can color on you with with, while simultaneously giving you a massage. Here to explain it fully, is a video from Groupon, where users are entering to win a pack.

(If anyone knows how they got that secret footage of my dramatic tray-carrying struggles, let me know.)

Touted as “the world’s first massage crayons,” these promise to put “the ‘me’ time back in ‘we’ time.”

So far over 300 stressed out parents have entered to win the family-bonding tools, which come in shades of cerulean blue, rose red, and avocado green.

massage crayons

While it’s unfortunate these massage crayons aren’t widely available for purchase (is this all in jest or is someone actually going to win a pack??) this isn’t the first time I’ve heard of skin being doodled on. In May I wrote a post about how not everyone genuinely loves their stretch marks, and when BabyCenter shared it on Facebook more than one mom chimed in to share they’ve let their kids draw on their bellies as an art project.

I tried it once long ago, allowing my boys to ink up my arms just to see how it would turn out. It was fun — but while washable markers are a great thing I found that leaving the colors on for hours or overnight greatly reduced how easily the creativity washes off! Nothing like wearing long sleeves to work in the summertime just to avoid a thousand questions.

Have you ever let your kids draw on you? Would you give De-Stress Doodlers a go?

This Couple’s Splash Mountain Proposal Is A Disney Fantasy Come True

Nothing quite says true love like a thrilling plunge down a waterfall ― at least for Eugene Williams and his new fiancé, Chris.

Williams popped the question during the couple’s Monday visit to Disneyland, and his proposal was not for the faint at heart. While many couples opt to use Sleeping Beauty Castle or other Disney landmarks as a backdrop for the big moment, Williams asked Chris to marry him with a handmade sign on Splash Mountain’s climactic, 50-foot drop, and made clever use of the attraction’s on-ride camera to capture the moment for posterity with a souvenir photo.

Williams told HuffPost that he “always knew” that he wanted to propose to Chris at Disneyland, as the California-based couple visit the Anaheim theme park at least once a month. He said he chose Splash Mountain specifically after seeing a viral photo of a 16-year-old Disneyland visitor, who came out as gay to her parents in a similar fashion.

Despite Williams’s best effort, there were a few unexpected twists and turns along the way, as one would expect of a thrill ride proposal. “I wanted to get to the park before it opened, but Chris and I overslept and ran into traffic on the way. I was very angsty and nervous the whole time leading to him seeing the photo,” he explained. “I was worried my plan wouldn’t work and the park would be too crowded to get our own log ― after all, it was a hot day.”

Fortunately, a polite request to a Disney cast member ensured that Williams could pull off his plan without a hitch after all. “I was nervous the whole time on the ride, but just kept giving him hugs and kisses on the ride,” he said. “I told my boyfriend that we should pretend to be shocked for the photo. When the ride was over we walked to see our photo and he said he immediately knew when he saw the sign in the photo what it was and he cried!”

Williams uploaded the photo to Reddit Tuesday, where it had racked up over 1,200 comments as of Wednesday afternoon. “We are big Disney park fans, and now every time we go we’ll be reminded of that one time I proposed and he said yes,” he told HuffPost. “My fiancé means a lot to me and seeing the joy on his face when he saw the photo was priceless.”

May you live happily ever after, gentlemen!

The Bachelor’s Kristina Schulman Says She’s Now ‘Come to Peace’ After Nick Viall Unexpectedly Sent Her Home

On Monday, Nick Viall came face-to-face with a handful of his ex-girlfriends during the Women Tell All episode of The Bachelor — including sweet Kristina Schulman, who Viall shockingly sent home during their trip to Bimini.

“I didn’t necessarily get the closure when I was getting sent home,” Schulman exclusively told PEOPLE at the February taping. “I was looking forward to the time that I would have on the Women Tell All to talk to him. In the time that I was sent home to now, I’ve come to my own conclusion. I’ve come to peace. Anything that he would’ve said during the Women Tell All made a difference because I was at peace.”

After a successful one-on-one date — where Schulman shared her emotional story of being a foster child in Russia and moving to the United States — the connection between the pair was undeniable. However, according to Viall, it wasn’t strong enough.

“I felt so strongly for Kristina,” Viall wrote in his blog. “She melted my heart in so many ways, but I just knew deep down I had stronger connections with the other women. I couldn’t stand the idea of taking Kristina further only for it not to work out. As hard as it would be to say goodbye to her now, it would have been 100 times harder for both of us if I took a leap and then said goodbye in another week.”

Though things didn’t work out between the two, Schulman is still open to finding love.

“Doing The Bachelor truly opened up my heart and my mind to the possibility of love,” she said. “It’s been about two years since my last relationship and I think in that time I was kind of closed off and reserved. I just got comfortable with myself. Taking this leap of the faith and being on the show and constantly talking about feelings and emotions, it was actually really therapeutic. I feel as if my heart is open. I’m very open to meeting that person.”

The Bachelor airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.

Emma Stone Is A Sexy, Hot Dog-Loving Poster Girl Come To Life In ‘SNL’ Sketch

Emma Stone took on the role of sexy poster girl during her stint on “Saturday Night Live” last night and thanks to her, we’ll never think of math the same way again.

In one sketch, called “Posters,” Pete Davidson plays a student struggling to figure out his algebra homework. As he considers dropping out of school, he falls asleep and begins dreaming the people from the posters on his wall are talking to him.

As the snowboarder (Mikey Day), video game character (Kate McKinnon) and comedian (Kenan Thompson) on the walls try to encourage Davidson to believe in himself, Stone’s hot dog-obsessed modern pinup continues to distract him with her “fat, shiny hotdog” and sexual innuendos.

Playing up the “dumb blonde” stereotype, Stone never seems to realize the other poster people are trying to help Davidson with his math, which causes some understandable (and hilarious) annoyance from the others.

Watch the full sketch above.

Harvard Class Day Speaker: We All Need To Come Out

Reina Gattuso, Harvard College’s Class Day Orator, implored graduates at the Ivy League school during a graduation ceremony Wednesday to “come out” about things they fear may hold them back.

“It is hard to be out about the things that have held us back when everyone around us is soaring,” said Gattuso, a member of Harvard’s Class of 2015.

Gattuso told students to come out about what may make them feel vulnerable, which could be that they feel like they aren’t the “correct” gender or race, or about their own self doubts.

“If we are going to use the power we feel every time we tell someone where we go to school to make the world a better place, we need to come out,” Gattuso declared.

Gattuso said during her Class Day speech that she came out as bisexual to her family on the same day President Barack Obama came out in support of same-sex marriage rights in 2012. After that, her father supported her and she began writing a biweekly column in the Harvard Crimson student newspaper about sexuality.

“What will you come out about?” she asked. It might be coming out to ask for help when they hit a roadblock on a project or about things that make you uncomfortable at work, she explained.

“I hope we have the courage to do it,” she told her classmates, because when they do, “We validate the dignity of everyone.”

“Come out with your entire weird, wonderful being,” Gattuso continued. “Come out for that nerdy kid whose life you are about change.”

Ethan Loewi, another 2015 Class Day speaker, added a similar sentiment in his remarks, telling his fellow graduates it’s a good thing if they “struggle with tough existential questions.”

“Don’t repress your doubt, confront it,” Loewi said.

Watch their speeches in the video above, which starts at 52:00.
