Florida Man Arrested After Allegedly Leading Cops to Wife’s Dead Body on Day Before Christmas

A Florida man is being held on a second-degree murder charge after police say he allegedly led them to his wife’s dead body on the day before Christmas, PEOPLE confirms.

According to a news release from police in Titusville, Florida, Timothy Allen Upthegrove was already a person of interest in the disappearance of his wife, Lori Lynn Upthegrove, when he allegedly gave police information that directed them to her body early on Sunday.

Police believe Timothy, 53, killed Lori on Dec. 18 when the couple got into an argument at their home in Titusville. Then, according to allegations in the news release, “the victim’s body was placed into the back of her vehicle by her husband and driven to a wooded area.”

Police did not disclose a cause of death. A spokesperson from the Titusville Police Department tells PEOPLE that the case is still under investigation and that more details will be released at a later date.

Lori, 51, was reported missing on Tuesday by a family member.

“Based on evidence found both in the home and in her vehicle, detectives believed Lori had been the victim of a violent crime,” police said in the release. Timothy was arrested Tuesday on charges of obstructing justice after he allegedly made false statements to police.

In a statement to the Orlando Sentinel, Timothy’s father, Ed Upthegrove, offered his condolences to Lori’s relatives and said that his family is working with law enforcement.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to Lori’s family and friends during this difficult time,” Ed told the newspaper. “We’re cooperating with investigators as they continue to gather evidence in this case.”

PEOPLE confirms that Timothy is being held in the Brevard County Jail without bail. He has not yet entered a plea, and court records do not indicate if he has retained an attorney who could comment on his behalf.

‘Alien probe’ asteroid is dead quiet, but is that good news or bad news?

oumuamua aliens

A couple of months back, a really, really weird asteroid flew through our Solar System. It looked nothing like any object humanity had ever spotted in space, and was moving might fast. First it was identified as a comet, then an asteroid, and most recently scientists have been wondering if maybe it was actually an alien spacecraft. Now, after spending hours listening to the strange visitor with powerful radio telescopes, scientists say they haven’t heard a peep.

The object, named Oumuamua, is shaped like a cigar. If it’s really an asteroid it would be the very first interstellar asteroid — that is, a rock that originated outside of our Solar System — to be observed by humans, but its bizarre form and speedy entry and exit gave alien hunters reason to believe it might actually be otherworldly technology. Now, it seems, that question will have to wait a little longer to be answered.

‘The Walking Dead’: One Fan Theory Bites the Dust in the Mid-Season Finale

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from Season 8, Episode 8 of The Walking Dead, entitled “How It’s Gotta Be.” Proceed with caution.

The mid-season finale of The Walking Dead Season 8 ended with a shocking twist. We all anticipated a major death to leave us all feeling mightily downbeat ahead of the holiday season — and while we wait for Season 8 to start up again in February. But what actually transpired knocked us for six.

If you’re still reading, we’re assuming you’ve either seen the episode or you don’t care about spoilers. So we’ll go ahead now and say it – Carl revealed he’d been bitten. The internet is generally pretty upset about this turn of events, and many have already said adios, even though he’s not gone just yet. But what some are mourning even more than his loss is the sad demise of a popular fan theory. Namely, the ‘Old Man Carl’ theory, which, in one fell swoop, has just been debunked. Or so it may seem.

The theory revolves around the notion that the events of The Walking Dead are actually Carl’s recollections of what happened through the zombie apocalypse, and that the end of the show will reveal Carl as an old man recounting his tales retrospectively. If Carl has been bitten by a walker, his life is about to end – which puts the ‘Old Man Carl’ theory well and truly to bed. RIP ‘Old Man Carl’ theory.

But will events play out like we expect? Let’s look at the evidence.

The Case For

When people get bitten by walkers in The Walking Dead, they transform into the undead themselves. No exceptions. Unless, like Hershel, they get bitten on a limb that’s amputated immediately. Or they get shot or stabbed in the head before they turn. Carl’s bite is on his torso and can’t be amputated. Plus, he’s surely been concealing the bite for too long for any attempt to cut it out to save him.

And as showrunner Scott M. Gimple told The Walking Dead aftershow, Talking Dead: “It will play out as bites play out on the show.”

He followed up with: “It’s very important to Carl’s story and the entire story — what happens in the next episode – so I’m just focused on the fact that right now Carl’s alive and he has some business to attend to. That is a one-way ticket, but I’d like to think that the things we see in the next episode are so important to his life and the other characters’ lives.”

Let’s also draw attention to a deleted Facebook post Chandler Riggs’s father reportedly wrote which stated that Riggs had been fired from the role of Carl in the show… and also an interview Chandler Riggs gave to the Hollywood Reporter in which he says Carl is “going to die.”

The Case Against

carl-the-walking-dead
Is this or isn’t this the moment that Carl got bitten?

It seems remiss to pay heed to an emotional Facebook post by a third party, that’s since been deleted. And there’s always the possibility that it’s part of a fake-out. And let’s also imagine that Riggs’s interview is part of that fake-out. A tall order, maybe. A lot of fans would be very angry.

But let’s look again at Gimple’s quote. He’s been pretty non-committal about what exactly happens. He doesn’t refer to a “walker” bite specifically, just “bites”. And when he says “one-way ticket” that doesn’t necessarily mean death as a direct result of a walker bite.

When Gimple talks about what happens in the next episode being very important to the entire story, could he actually be referring to the introduction of the Whisperers?

The Whisperers is a group from the comics about whom there’s been incessant chatter with regard to their arrival in the show. They wear the skins of the dead and also adopt their behaviour. This allows them to move among the walkers, undetected.

It’s possible that Carl was bitten by a Whisperer, and not a walker which would mean his destiny – at this juncture anyway – isn’t necessarily undead. If you look at the wound, this would seem to support this. It’s a perfect imprint of teeth clamped down on flesh – there’s no attempt to tear flesh away, which is the instinct of zombies in the show. They’re compelled to eat flesh; it’s their sole driving force. We’ve seen the results of a zombie attack enough times to know that they’re usually more savage than this. That doesn’t mean to say he won’t die, of course, but maybe it plays out in some other way.

But what do you think? Is the ‘Old Man Carl’ theory truly dead and buried? Is there a chance we’ve just seen the start of the Whisperers storyline? Let us know via our social channels @getfandom

‘The Walking Dead’: A Rebellion Crumbles in ‘How It’s Gotta Be’

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the Season 8, Episode 8 of The Walking Dead, entitled “How It’s Gotta Be.” Proceed with caution.

In last week’s episode of The Walking Dead, the show went deep (maybe a little too deep) into the mind of the show’s number one coward Eugene — which ended in him becoming a full Savior.

This week, Season 8 arrived at its mid-season finale with this latest episode entitled “How It’s Gotta Be.” This episode brought everything to a massive high as Daryl’s attack from last week put all the communities in grave danger, reversing all the progress Rick, Maggie, and Ezekiel made.

All the Colonies Are in Danger

Alexandria, Hilltop, and the Kingdom went under siege as Negan and his forces began to retaliate after the attack on Sanctuary. Thanks to Eugene, the Saviors escaped the walker hordes and each of Negan’s lieutenants decided to pay their colonies a friendly visit.

Maggie and her people were put under pressure by Simon while they were on the road. Simon and his men had Jerry hostage, demanding for Maggie’s cooperation. At the Kingdom, Ezekiel tried to hide from Gavin, who is searching thoroughly for him. Gavin eventually caught up to Ezekiel leaving the once king’s fate unknown. Later, Rick arrives back to Alexandria and finally came toe-to-toe with Negan in his own home. After a brutal brawl, Rick escaped the skirmish leaving Negan alone for the time being.

The damage has been done heavily to each of the colonies, so the question is: will the resistance be able to bounce back from this? Just how will Rick and his forces continue the fight? As of now, things don’t look so good and who knows if they’ll be able to recover.

Enid & Aaron Try to Reach out to Oceanside

After leaving the Hilltop, Aaron and Enid set out to Oceanside to try to convince them to join the fight. Instead of things going smoothly, it lead to Enid shooting Natania on accident because she thought a Savior got the jump on Aaron. This turn of events may have soured things a bit for the negotiations.

Oceanside could have proved to be the resistances trump card when things went wrong (which they already have). However, because of Enid’s rash actions, what could happen to both Aaron and herself? Could they still salvage a possible partnership even after what just happened?

Eugene Shows Remorse

After Eugene’s firm decision that he made to Father Gabriel — telling him he would never go along with rescuing Doctor Carson — he then decides to go back on his word. Eugene offered Gabriel and Carson a way out, which Gabriel thanked Eugene for doing the right thing. However, Eugene didn’t seem fully convinced about whether or not his actions could be considered “right.”

This seemed to come out of nowhere as it’s hard to figure out where Eugene truly stands. Has he truly become a Savior or was it too quick to judge him in the last episode? He did play a role in letting the Saviors escape, so that’s also something to take into account. Eugene still proves to be an enigma and it’ll be interesting to see what fate has in store for him.

Carl Is Bitten

Throughout this whole episode, Carl really pulled through by demonstrating heroic features and leadership abilities. As Negan came right up to Alexandria’s doorstep, Carl decided to take charge, using himself as a decoy as Daryl and the others escaped.

He and Negan then had a showdown where he told the Savior leader that he would offer himself as a sacrifice to stop the bloodshed from continuing. After the others break through Alexandria’s walls, Carl hides away which angered Negen, causing him to rain hellfire onto the town.

Unfortunately, Carl couldn’t escape unscathed as he revealed to his father and Michonne underneath the towns sewage system that he’s been bitten off-screen by a walker. This is a sad reveal as viewers were beginning to see the potential that Carl could have as a leader which could make him a more central character in the series if Rick were to pass on.

Though it may have ended with him in a bad state, it’s still an unknown if this bite will mark the end of the young hero. It’s possible that some other force could cause him to lose his life, perhaps even by Negan’s own hands.

Fans will just have to keep guessing as what will happen next, as The Walking Dead will be off for a while. After this mid-season finale, it’s safe to say that the series still hasn’t lost its touch by dropping a major shocker to keep viewers thoroughly engaged.

‘The Walking Dead’: Will Negan Die and If So, Who Will Kill Him?

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from Season 8, Episode 7 of The Walking Dead entitled “Time For After“. Proceed with caution.

The mid-season finale of The Walking Dead Season 8 is imminent, and preview footage suggests that Negan regains the upper hand. But he can’t possibly win out over Rick and the gang, can he? In the comics, we’ve seen that there’s still plenty more to come from Negan. But if we’ve learned anything, it’s that the TV show doesn’t always follow the comics, having diverged from the comic narrative on numerous occasions.

There’s plenty of fans of The Walking Dead that want to see Negan dead, and they’re not alone. So do plenty of the characters in the TV series – and they’re not all on Rick’s side.

So who are the most likely characters to finish off Negan? Let’s take a look…

Rick

Rick Grimes Walking Dead
Rick at his lowest ebb, broken by Negan.

Rick has vowed time and again that he will kill Negan. And it sort of feels like if it’s anyone else that finishes him off, Rick will have been robbed of the chance not only to avenge the deaths of Abraham, and Glenn in particular, but also to repay him for the threats he made against son Carl. Oh, and for forcing him to the point where he was about to cut his own son’s arm off. As viewers, we want Rick to get his very satisfying revenge for all Negan has put him through, including reducing him to a shell of a man after pushing him to breaking point.

However, Rick seems to be softening. In the season premiere, we saw Rick red-eyed and deeply upset – over what we don’t yet know – but he was also muttering about mercy prevailing over wrath. Echoing the words spoken by new character Siddiq, he seems to be re-evaluating, and trying to find an alternative to killing in order to survive. He wants to preserve his humanity, and has already demonstrated he’s against Daryl’s plan to attack the Saviors in a way that results in the death of innocents. This suggests he might yet be lenient when it comes to Negan. If he’s faced with the opportunity to kill a defenceless Negan, right now it feels like Rick might not take it.

Daryl

Daryl has his own personal reasons for wanting revenge against Negan. The ruthless leader of the Saviors imprisoned him and subjected him to torture in an attempt to break him. He had to listen to that earwormy “Easy Street” song on loop for goodness’ sake. Enough to drive anyone to murder? It’s no surprise that Daryl is taking a hard line when it comes to the Saviors right now. He’s lived under Negan’s rule, and knows it ain’t pretty. For Daryl, there is no mercy and if he gets half a chance, he’ll take it.

In a face-off between Negan and a Daryl hellbent on retribution, we don’t fancy Negan’s chances much.

Eugene

The Walking Dead-Eugene-Tanya-Frankie
Eugene is asked to make suicide pills by Tanya and Frankie.

In Episode 7, we were reminded that Eugene was asked by Tanya and Frankie, two of Negan’s wives, to manufacture suicide pills which they planned to use to take Negan out. It would likely have worked, but when Eugene discovered their true intentions he refused to hand them over. He later gave them to Sasha, of course.

But was the reason he wouldn’t hand them over because he was scared? Probably. Eugene has always been a big scaredy cat, afraid to step out of line. Episode 7 spent time focusing on Eugene, and exploring where his head is at right now. The outcome? Yes, he wants to survive and is partially driven by selfish motivations, but he is also keen to save others. We saw him sticking his neck out in order to save people – he was ultimately prepared to risk Dwight shooting him in order to press ahead with his plan to lure the walkers away and save the many. He’s certainly a tortured man, haunted by what happened to Sasha. He’s a man that’s turned to drink in order to quiet his mind and sleep through the night. There’s still a chance that this man in turmoil could do something unpredictable.

If it came to it now, could he end Negan’s life? “I am Negan” may trip off his tongue but if it was for the greater good, could he redeem himself by killing Negan? Quite possibly. He’s definitely braver, more capable, and more confident in his capabilities than he used to be. And maybe he’ll need to sacrifice himself to do it.

Dwight

Dwight has gone from Negan’s right-hand man, and a man we detest, to a sympathetic character prepared to stab his leader in the back. Or head. Ahem.

But will he need to be the one to kill Negan in order to prove once and for all to Rick and co. – Daryl and Tara especially who have very specific reasons to hate and distrust him – that he’s on their side? That he’s not the villain they thought him to be? And if he is, will he have to lose his life in order to get redemption? He did kill Denise after all, and he’s been wearing Daryl’s leather gilet since forever. If those aren’t grounds for dying in order to be redeemed we don’t know what are.

Rosita

Rosita, like Rick, has also sworn to kill Negan. In fact, she tried once and came a cropper. It turns out she’s the unluckiest assassin ever. The bullet, which she had Eugene make for her, was on target – but it rebounded off Lucille. Rosita is still understandably mad at Negan for brutally murdering Abraham, the man she loved, and she has vowed revenge. And though she ruled herself out of Daryl’s reckless plan that flies in the face of Rick’s wishes, she could still prove to be a thorn in Negan’s side when push comes to shove. And she’d probably be willing to sacrifice herself in order to avenge the death of Abraham, right?

Carl

Because of Negan, Carl has almost lost an arm at the hands of his father and almost lost his life too. Were it not for Shiva jumping in at a critical moment, Carl would be dead right now. Not only that, he’s seen his dad driven to breaking point by the cruel dictator, and has even spent time in his company at the Sanctuary – where Negan made fun of his missing eye. Carl has been made to feel small and powerless by Negan, and has more reason than anyone to seek revenge. Having already once gone on a mission to kill Negan, Carl could easily do so again – especially if the people he loves are under real threat.

Catch the midseason finale of Season 8 on December 10 in the US and a day later in the UK.

The Latest ‘Walking Dead’ Was All About Powerful Women, Especially Rosita

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the Season 8 Episode 6 of The Walking Dead entitled “The King, The Widow, and Rick.” Proceed with caution.

The Walking Dead celebrated women for Thanksgiving, and the Internet approved. The sixth episode of Season 8 was about friendship, survival, and the strength of femininity. While Ezekiel was still in mourning (RIP Shiva), Maggie, Rosita, Carol, Tara and Michonne swooped in to remind fans The Walking Dead is an inspiring story of survival.

Naked Jadis

“The King, The Widow, and Rick” roared right away. Immediately, fans were exposed to the naked female leader of the Scavengers. Yes, Jadis is back, and apparently she likes to sculpt in the almost-nude while surrounded by piles of trash. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Rick’s Polaroid Fail

Poor Rick. He’s been taking Polaroid photos of dead Saviors for Jadis the whole time to no avail. He showed Jadis his photos to try and convince her to join his team, and she told him to talk to her sculpting hand.

Jadis’ lackeys took Rick prisoner, leaving the women in charge back at camp.

The Widow

Maggie Rhee assumed the leadership of Hilltop, and former major Gregory finally got his comeuppance. It’s extremely satisfying to watch him whimper as the widow queen took control of the colony he almost destroyed.

Maggie’s decision to put Gregory in the same pen as the Saviors was satisfying, but her uterus was the talk of Twitter. Where’s her baby bump?

Meanwhile, Nostalgia

The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 6 also reminded fans aboutcommunity. To maintain a safe circle of trust during the zombie apocalypse, three questions are asked. It’s been awhile since we’ve heard them, but Carl Grimes puts his dad’s tradition to good use when he met Siddiq, and fans approve.

Carol’s Maternal Instincts

In the spirit of nostalgia, fans are reminded why children should never, ever approach Carol Peletier, unless they’re willing to accept the consequences of survival.

No, You’re Crying

Carol mentions Sophia, her daughter who died early on during the outbreak, and now we’re all calling our moms to say “I love you.”

DON’T CALL ME BABY

During a mission with Michonne, Rosita Espinosa reminded everyone why it’s never a good idea to doubt a woman’s strength, especially when she’s holding a rocket launcher in the middle of all out war. Rosita is every woman, we are all Rosita, don’t call us “baby girl,” and yes we’re really going to “use that thing.”

Vengeance Is Sleeping

Speaking of not f-ing with badass women, Tara doesn’t trust Dwight, hates Negan, and wants revenge. Dwight killed her girlfriend Denise, and the Saviors are going to pay. Tara is a woman on a mission, and she doesn’t have to twist Daryl’s arm to enlist his help.

From the first scene with a nearly naked female body to it’s final moment, The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 6 belongs to women everywhere who have been doubted or mistreated, and the Internet is grateful.

What do you think? Will Alexandria and the Hilltop win their war now that women are in charge? Should Carl trust Siddiq now that he’s asked the three questions? Are Tara and Daryl taking revenge to the extreme? Will their obsession with vengeance bring harmony or more war? Let us know what you think @getfandom on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram .

Murderer Charles Manson Dead at 83

Charles Manson, the cult leader who masterminded a series of grisly killings in 1969, died on Sunday, November 19, at the age of 83, TMZ is reporting.

The website reports that Debra Tate, sister of actress Sharon Tate, one of Manson’s victims, received a call from a California prison telling her that the infamous killer died at 8:13 p.m. local time.

As previously reported, Manson was taken from Corcoran State Prison to a Bakersfield hospital back in January, seriously ill with gastrointestinal issues. He was recently admitted back into hospital.

Manson was sentenced to multiple life sentences in January 1971 after being found guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of seven people, including Tate, who was 8-and-a-half months pregnant at the time with her first child with husband film director Roman Polanski.

Born to an unmarried teen mother in Cincinnati Ohio, Manson was placed in his aunt and uncle’s home after his mom and her brother were sentenced to jail for robbing a gas station. At 13 he was sent to a school for boys in Indiana but fled and went on to commit a string of burglaries, armed robberies, break-ins and car thefts. He was first jailed at the age of 17.

Manson wed at the age of 21 and welcomed a son after the couple moved to California, where Manson was imprisoned for violating probation. His wife, Rosalie, was granted a divorce in 1958, and he later wed a woman named Leona who had an arrest record for prostitution and testified on Manson’s behalf in court when he was charged with attempting to cash a forged U.S. Treasury check.

In 1961, he was imprisoned again and learned to play the guitar while he was locked up, writing songs that were later recorded by other artists including the Beach Boys and Guns N’ Roses. He was released in March 1967 and attracted a band of followers who were nicknamed the Manson Family. He lectured his followers about “Helter Skelter,” his theory about an apocalyptic war that would come from rising racial tensions between whites and blacks. (The title comes from the Beatles’ song of the same name.)

On August 9, 1969 they murdered Tate and four others in her home — celebrity hairdresser Jay Sebring, coffee heiress Abigail Folger, filmmaker Voityck Frykowksi and teenager Steven Parent. All of the victims were shot or stabbed multiple times and the killers used Tate’s blood to write the word “pig” on the front door.

The following night, Manson’s followers killed grocers Rosemary and Leno LaBianca in their Los Feliz home and wrote the words “Healter Skelter” on the refrigerator in the couple’s blood.

Manson, who did not participate in the grisly murders, and four of his followers were sentenced to death, but their sentences were commuted to life in prison when California abolished the death penalty in 1972. He was denied parole 12 times and accumulated more than 100 serious disciplinary violations while in prison, including threatening police officers and possession of weapons.

‘I played dead and waited until the blows stopped’

Meryl Streep opened up about getting violently beaten up and it’s incredibly powerful.

From the editors of InStyle
Words by Alexandra Whittaker

Alongside others in Hollywood coming forward with accounts of violence and abuse, Meryl Streep has chosen to bravely share her own experiences.

Streep delivered a surprise speech at the Committee to Protect Journalists’ annual awards event Wednesday, and she spoke about encountering physical violence in her own life. As she thanked female journalists specifically for their bravery, the Oscar winner revealed her encounters with physical abuse.

‘I do know something about real terror—the two times in my life when I was threatened and dealt with real physical violence, I learned something about life that I wouldn’t have known otherwise and I was lucky because my instincts served me well,’ she said, according to The Daily Beast.

‘In one instance, I played dead and waited until the blows stopped—watching like people say you do from about 50 feet above from where I was beaten,’ she continued. ‘And in the second instance, someone else was being abused and I just went completely nuts and went after this man. Ask Cher—she was there. And the thug ran away, it was a miracle.’

Streep did not elaborate further or say when these violent acts happened, but as People noted, she and Cher worked together in the 1983 drama Silkwood and Cher once said they rescued someone from a ‘large mugger’ in New York City.

‘We come to it disadvantaged through the many millennia preceding our present moment and because of our vulnerability we anticipate danger we expect it, we’re hyper alert to it,’ Streep said in her speech. ‘This comes in very handy in investigative journalism but also in acting.’

We are happy that Streep is safe.

Is Black Friday Dead? Here’s How to Save Shopping Online (Just in Case)

It’s with a heavy heart that we inform you: Some news outlets are reporting the death of Black Friday.

But we can’t seem to dig up its official death certificate over here at Penny Hoarder HQ.

Maybe because the retail holiday isn’t totally dead; it’s just not as sparkly and exciting as it used to be.

Not as many folks are finding the appeal in camping out in the Best Buy parking lot or tackling some unsuspecting stranger to the ground for that snazzy TV.

This has to do with folks wanting, in part, to shop online while eating leftover turkey on their couch, sans pants. And yes, the digital deals are just as good these days, anyway.

Shopping Black Friday Online Deals? 4 Ways to Save More

That scene I described above… the one with the leftover turkey, the couch and the no pants thing… that’s me.

And, apparently, millions of other Americans, too. The National Retail Federation found that 3 million fewer folks shopped in stores on Thanksgiving weekend last year. Rather, 5 million more people shopped online.

Here are four ways I’m planning to save even more money this Black Friday weekend.

1. Drop It, Drop It Low (The Prices, Duh)

Where will you be shopping online this Black Friday? Think about it for a second.

For me, it’ll likely be Amazon, Nordstrom and Zappos.

OK, now download Drop, an app that automatically grants you points on all qualifying purchases. Let me walk you through how I signed up:

  1. Enter your phone number here. Drop will “drop” you a link via text.
  2. Download the app.
  3. Link your most-used debit or credit cards. This is what will trigger your accumulation of points, so you don’t even have to think about it.
  4. Select your five favorite retailers.

Done. Now say I shop Target online during Black Friday. Drop will automatically give me eight points per dollar spent.

Once I hit 10,000 points, I’ll be able to cash out for a $ 10 gift card.

2. Earn(y) Cash Back When Prices Fluctuate

Black Friday is supposed to be the day of lowest prices EVER, but we all know that’s a half-truth.

Say I’m planning to try to find some heavily discounted boots. Well, I buy them for $ 39.99. But a week after Black Friday, I find the price dropped another $ 5.

Instead of kicking myself, I’ve signed up for Earny. He’ll (err, the robot) will comb my receipts in my inbox and keep an eye on price drops. If… and when… that happens, Earny will contact the retailer and claim the difference for me. So if what I said above happens, I’ll snag $ 5.

It can find price drops with some big-name retailers like Walmart, Target, Nordstrom, Jet and, yes, Zappos.

3. Hunt Down Promo Codes

You might not have to do a ton of hunting for promo codes on Black Friday. Hopefully your favorite retailers promote those on their homepages.

If not, poke around and see if you can find something.

Try finding “Hot Deals” over at Ebates.

For example, at the time of this writing, I could snag 30% off anything from The Popcorn Factory. Or 10% off $ 35 at Barnes & Noble. Or try 25% off skincare products at Philosophy.

I prefer to search by store to make it easy (and so I don’t get roped in by other “ooooh shiny” deals).

4. Pocket Cash When Shopping Through Ibotta

At this point, I’ve done all the prep I’m going to do. Now, it’s time to shop.

If I’m buying anything from Amazon, Overstock, Target or Walmart, for example, I open my Ibotta app and shop through it.

Sure, it can be slightly annoying to shop through my mobile phone, but I usually find what I’m looking for on my laptop, then find it again after opening Ibotta.

Recently, I earned $ 1.14 on a one-item order from Amazon, $ 3.21 from Target.com and $ 1.49 at Overstock.

Since signing up in May, I’ve earned nearly $ 85 back on items I’d normally buy. So you betcha I’ll stack even more savings this upcoming Black Friday weekend. (Also because I’m in a race with co-workers to see who can save the most.)

Anyway, those are four of my favorite easy tips to help you save more money while shopping online during Black Friday. If you want even more, check out this post on saving (and making) money while shopping online.

Perhaps next year we’ll be eulogizing Black Friday. But for now, it’s still kickin’.

A ‘Walking Dead’ Sacrifice Will Make You Ugly Cry

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the Season 8, Episode 4 of The Walking Dead entitled “Some Guy.” Proceed with caution.

The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 4 will turn you into a cat person and make you ugly cry. If you don’t want a spoiler, now is the time to turn away. Shiva, Ezekiel’s beloved tiger, sacrifices herself to save his life. She’s devoured by walkers, and, just like Ezekiel, all we can do is watch. Although so many plot points are covered in the latest episode of The Walking Dead, “Some Guy” belongs to Shiva.

In the world of The Walking Dead, destruction is everywhere. Shock is the norm, and survival is redefined. A sense of family, camaraderie, loss and deterioration grows with every arc in the story. In Season 7 everyone got a big cat & fell in love with her roaring meow. She’s gone, and now we’re all ugly crying.

Ezekiel Almost Dies First

Before Shiva appears, Ezekiel is almost killed by a Savior. As usual, The Walking Dead avoids predictable moments, but an Easter Egg clearly signals Ezekiel is now on borrowed time.

R.I.P. Shiva

Ezekiel lives, but Shiva dies a horrible death that can’t be unseen, sacrificing herself for Ezekiel. No matter how many losses we’ve experienced up to this point in the story, losing our CGI pet is too much to bear. Nobody was ready to say goodbye to Shiva.

Remembering Shiva

ICYMI, fans have been in love with Shiva since the Season 7 finale, when saves Rick Grimes’ son, Carl.

Nobody is Smiling RN

Ezekiel opens “Some Guy” with a passionate speech that isn’t often given by just any guy. His leadership qualities fill the first 2 minutes with positivity and hope. He tells the Kingdom to smile, in the face of fear.

He guides his kingdom toward saving themselves, an omen for what’s to come.

In “Some Guy”, Ezekiel’s comrades die to save him, including Shiva. Nobody is smiling anymore.

Just like the comics, Shiva dies because of her fierce loyalty to Ezekiel. Shiva is every fan’s cat, and all our cats are Shiva. After watching “Some Guy”, every cat in the home of a Walking Dead fan is getting wet food and a toy. Every animal companion is getting extra treats and love. After witnessing the most painful death in The Walking Dead, we remember all our pets who have sadly taken a trip to rainbow bridge while we hold our furry friends close. Tonight, we are all Ezekiel’s friend, because we’ve lost our tiger, too.

The zombie apocalypse has finally breached the heart of the Kingdom, but most of the major plot points are overshadowed by a loss we can’t unsee. Did you watch “Some Guy”? Did you notice the Ezekiel Easter Egg? Did you cry too? Let us know @getfandom on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

The Top 3 Richest Dead Black Celebrities of 2017

Richest Dead Black Celebrities

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson reigns supreme as the highest paid deceased celebrity of 2017. According to Forbes, the iconic singer earned $ 75 million over the last 12 months, which was driven by a variety of business ventures that includes a new CBS Halloween special released earlier this week, a new greatest hits album, a Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas, and a stake in the EMI music publishing catalogue.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that Jackson topped Forbes’ list of top-earning dead celebrities. The annual list “measures pretax income from Oct. 15, 2016, through Oct. 15, 2017, before deducting cuts for agents, managers, and lawyers,” states the Forbes website. “Sources include Nielsen SoundScan, IMDB, Pollstar Pro, and interviews with celebrity estate experts.” Altogether, the Gloved One has been ranked No. 1 on the list seven times since his passing in 2009.

Last year, the King of Pop raked in a whopping $ 825 million, which made him the highest earning entertainer dead or alive. Jackson’s earnings were primarily driven by the $ 750 million deal Sony inked in order to purchase the singer’s stake in a jointly owned catalog of nearly 4 million songs.

Bob Marley

Bob Marley ranked as No. 5 on the list with earnings of $ 23 million that were boosted by  House of Marley, a line of environmentally-friendly audio products, and the Marley Beverage Co. “When we decided to start that movement, it was [to] add relevancy to who we are as a family,” Marley’s son Rohan told Forbes. “We started that to really hone in on our legacy and protect what our father has given us.”

The international reggae artist follows behind legendary golfer Arnold Palmer, who came in second with $ 40 million; Peanuts creator Charles Schulz, who was listed as third with income of $ 38 million; and Elvis Presley, who finished in fourth place with $ 35 million thanks to the new multimillion-dollar Elvis Presley’s Memphis entertainment complex and the recent opening of The Guesthouse at Graceland Hotel.

Prince

Earning $ 18 million placed Prince as No. 7 on the list. The musical innovator died in April 2016 without leaving a will. His estate, however, has been valued between $ 100 million and $ 300 million before taxes.

Prince falls behind rocker Tom Petty, who died on Oct. 3 and earned $ 20 million. Other celebrities who rounded out the top 10 list include Dr. Suess who earned $ 16 million; late Beatles singer John Lennon with $ 12 million; and Albert Einstein with $ 10 million.

An Ominous Episode of The Walking Dead Questions Who the Real Monsters Are

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Season 8 of The Walking Dead.

Following Morales’ return, the third episode of The Walking Dead‘s eighth season saw the lines between the “good” and “bad” guys become more blurred than ever. After attempting to reason with his former companion, Rick seemed conflicted over the kill-or-be-killed mindset of his group — perhaps foreshadowing the, “My mercy prevails over my wrath,” flash-forward from the premiere.

“Look at us, Rick. Look at us. We’re two a—holes who will do whatever we have to just to keep going and the only difference is I’m the one holding the gun,” Morales said. “That doesn’t make me any worse than you, Rick. That just makes me luckier. ‘Cause let’s face it. If it wasn’t me, if it was you holding the gun, I’d be brains out on the floor right now.”

It was then that Daryl snuck up from behind and shot Morales without a second thought, giving Rick even more cause for concern. “I know who it was,” Daryl told him. “That don’t matter. Not one little bit.”

And Daryl wasn’t done showing how little compassion he has for Negan’s followers. After Rick gave a lone survivor his word that he could take one of their cars and leave if he told them where the outpost’s guns had been taken, Daryl shot the Savior in the head after he gave his answer.

Several other characters were plagued with similar moral crises in “Monsters,” with the conflict between Morgan and Jesus coming to physical blows. “I’m not right. I know that, I’m not right,” Morgan said of his desire to kill the Saviors they took hostage. “But that doesn’t make me wrong.”

The episode also saw the death of Eric, who bled out after an emotional goodbye with Aaron.

The hour ended on a cliffhanger when Ezekiel’s celebration, in honor of taking an outpost without losing a single soldier, was cut short by a sniper who began firing on the group.

“Some Guy,” the fourth episode of Walking Dead‘s eighth season, will air Nov. 12 at 9 p.m. on AMC.

‘The Walking Dead’: 6 Incredibly Inventive Ways to Whack a Walker

Surviving the zombie apocalypse often calls for creative means to escape the ever-advancing clutches of death. Survivors on The Walking Dead are adept at disposing of zombies with guns, arrows, and knives. But what happens when they run out of ammo or can’t reach a trusty blade?

That’s when the most-skilled survivors get truly innovative. Those with an undying will to survive utilize anything they can to obliterate the approaching undead. Here are six ingenious ways characters have killed walkers on The Walking Dead.

Recycled Ammo

In Season 2 Episode 5,”Chupacabra,” while searching for Carol’s missing daughter, Sofia, Darryl falls from his horse down a hill into a lake bed. During the fall, an arrow pierces through Darryl’s side. He attempts to climb the hill, only to fall again and pass out. He then awakens from a vision of his missing brother, Merle, to find a walker munching on his boot.

After brutally crushing the walker’s skull with a stick, he sees another approaching. With no other arrows available, Darryl pulls the arrow from his body to slay the oncoming walker. While using an arrow is nothing new, recycling one from his own body is a clever way to survive.

Water Is the Key to Life

Hosing down a zombie horde.
Water does a body good — unless you’re a zombie of course.

After their bus crashes on the way to Washington in Season 5’s “Self Help,” Glenn, Maggie, Abraham, Eugene, Tara, and Rosita search for another vehicle. They come across a fire truck, but unfortunately, it breaks down and they find themselves overwhelmed by a horde of walkers.

As the group struggles to survive, Eugene takes aim with the fire truck’s high-powered water hose and expunges the attackers. Using water to rip bodies apart is an incredibly creative yet gory way to kill walkers. In this case, water proved to be the key to surviving the undead.

Light ‘Em Up!

In Season 5’s “The Distance,” Rick runs out of ammo as he and Michonne fend off a group of walkers in the woods. In an enlightening and resourceful move, Rick pulls out his flare gun and fires a flare into the head of an approaching walker. The flare not only puts down the walker but also serves as a beacon to help the rest of the group find the pair.

Zombie Bowling

Finish him!

In Season 5’s “Crossed,” after an attacker pins Darryl down, he frantically searches for anything to defend himself. The only thing near him is a burned walker fused to the ground. In a move straight out of Mortal Kombat, Darryl sticks his fingers in the walker’s eye sockets and rips his head and spine out. He then uses the head and spine like a bowling ball to fend off his attacker. This innovative tactic illustrates why Darryl is one of the most resourceful survivors on The Walking Dead.

Cord Cutting

the walking dead rick michonne cars with wire strung between them
Flawless execution.

As one of the most inventive ways any characters have annihilated walkers on The Walking Dead, Season 7’s “Rock In The Road” saw Rick and company racing to Alexandria ahead of the Saviors who are looking for Darryl. On the way, they come across a herd advancing on the highway. In a well-orchestrated and quite ingenious maneuver, Rick and Michonne drive two cars with a cable strung between them down the road, quickly dispatching of the oncoming walkers. The move required perfect timing and execution by the two to ensure maximum carnage.

Taking Out the Trash

One man’s trash is another man’s weapon in the zombie apocalypse.

When Rick seeks to prove himself to the Scavengers in Season 7, Episode 10, “New Best Friends,” the Junkyard dwellers subject Rick to an odd trial by combat. They shove him into a pit walled with trash where he must face their armored champion walker, Winslow. Equipped with a spiked helmet and spikes all over his body, Winslow proves to be a formidable opponent.

Rick’s attempts to vanquish his foe with sheer strength fall flat as he can’t penetrate the armor. Michonne assesses the situation and suggests Rick use the walls of the pit. After pinning Winslow to the ground with trash, Rick uses a shard of glass to terminate his enemy. And Rick’s brains-over-brawn feat helped secure the Scavengers’ cooperation in the fight against Negan.

‘The Walking Dead’ Resurrects a Character in “The Damned” & Twitter is Confused

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the Season 8, Episode 2 of The Walking Dead, entitled “The Damned.” Proceed with caution.

The Walking Dead season 8 episode 2 picked up exactly where episode 1 left off: all-out war. The episodes have almost nothing else in common. While season 8 episode 1 is about “Mercy”, episode 2 “The Damned” is all about tactics. From armor to sharpshooting skills and ethical dilemmas on the battlefield, season 8 episode 2 places fans in the middle of battle.

Through the din of war, Ezekiel’s propensity for Shakespearean tragedies provides levity, while Morgan is reborn, and Tara has a disagreement with Jesus. Season 8 episode 2 proves battle scenes can be rife with a storyline, but it’s the rebirth of Morgan, and the resurrection of a character from the past shaking Twitter to its core.

A Time For War

All-out war is not an exaggeration. It’s war, it’s hell, it’s happening fast and “The Damned” doesn’t waste time.

ICYMI King Ezekiel is the Thespian Everyone Needs

The battle doesn’t break the King. Ezekiel proves once again he can turn all the world’s apocalypse into a Shakespearean stage. The theater is his survival tactic, and it’s working.

Nobody Puts Baby In A Corner

Breaking character, Ezekiel explains his theatrical affect to Carol; it’s all an act. “Fake it ’til ya make it, baby” he explains, and he’s serious. Carol’s reaction gives Twitter life.

Oh S–t, It’s Morales

Morales is back! And he’s with the Saviors.  The initial surprise of his appearance created an all-out Tweetsorm.

Um, Wait, Who Is Morales?

Problem is, everyone forgot about Morales because 7 years is a long, long time ago.

Oh Right, THAT Guy.

“Who is Morales” almost took down search engines, while fans Tweeted answers.

Does Morales know Negan killed Glenn? If he knows, does he care?

A Time To Love

Morales’ arrival shook Twitter, but Carzekiel is coming and the Internet is ready. In a world full of walkers, love may spring eternal for Carol and Ezekiel.

A Time to Die (maybe)

Carzekiel may be coming, but Aaron and Eric are already in love and nobody wants either of them to die. Sadly, it doesn’t matter what anyone wants for either of them. All out war is hell, and the couple may find themselves separated forever.

Please don’t die Eric. Please don’t die Eric. Please don’t die Eric.

Morgan The Immortal

Eric’s future is currently unknown, and that sucks. Too bad he isn’t Morgan, because in the world according to Morgan, he can’t die.

During a battle, Morgan appears to take a bullet and drops to the ground.

Don’t worry, Morgan is right. He isn’t going to die, not today. Presumably saved by his armor, Morgan rises a changed man, without a scratch, but his code of ethic and morals is dead. Morgan is the harbinger of death in the middle of a post-apocalyptic battle. Watch out, Saviors. Morgan wants to kill you, and he’s got two guns.

ICYMI Shiva Knows Best

Saving the day is what Shiva does best. Meow.

Um, What About Father Gabriel?

Father Gabriel did not appear in this episode, so we’ll just have to wait another week to see if he really needed to change into his s–tin pants.

Tara vs Jesus

Just because two people are fighting for the same cause doesn’t mean they agree on how to handle the battle itself. Jesus wants to show mercy to saviors who seem to be willing to surrender, but Tara has a different idea.

The two argue but remain united in the cause. Twitter does what it does best: picking sides.

#TeamTara

#TeamJesus

So. Intense. O.M.F.G.

Real-time reviews are in, and in between googling “Who Is Morales“, Twitter approves of “The Damned.”

The intensity of season 8 episode 2 is muffled by the surprise of not one, but two resurrections. Walking into season 8 episode 3, Morgan has risen as a different version of himself, and Morales is back. Will Morgan lose his mind without his code of morals and ethics? Will Morales rejoin Rick Grimes and co in the fight for a better world? Morales appears to be guarding a baby named “Gracie” but the rest of the story will have to wait until next week. Once again, The Walking Dead leaves fans with a cliffhanger, and enough questions to keep everyone Tweeting until next Sunday.

Did you watch The Walking Dead season8 episode 2? What do you think about the new Morgan? Did you recognize Morales? Which side are you on: Tara or Jesus? Let us know @getfandom on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

‘The Walking Dead:’ The Most Irksome Moments from the Season 8 Premiere

It’s taken eight years for AMC to reach the 100th episode of The Walking Dead, and I can’t help but feel a bit let down. Don’t get me wrong, it was an okay episode, much better than some that have aired in the past (cough Season 2, Episode 4 cough), though it didn’t stop me from being peeved by those dumb moments that just didn’t make any sense. I hope you can bear with me here while I rant about some of the parts that just annoyed me.

When Did They Suddenly Become Ninjas?

Okay, this was sort of a minor issue, but it still got on my nerves. In the beginning, we see Rick, Morgan, and the others stealthily take out the Savior scouts along the road. Now, I don’t have personal experience sneaking up on someone and stabbing a giant sharp stick into their back or anything, but I feel that it’s not as easy as they showed it. The scouts seemed like oblivious NPCs from like Fallout 3 or Skyrim the way they were so easily taken out; it was a little ridiculous. Throughout the series, I always had a major gripe with how silent and ninja-like the zombies are when they’re constantly sneaking up on people (I mean, really, they’re loud walking corpses 😕).

How Fast Are Those Zombies Anyway?

Their whole plan throughout the episode was to attract hordes of zombies to Negan’s base, overrun it, and basically render it defenseless. We can see Daryl, Carol and the Twizzler girl (Tara) setting off a bunch of explosions to get the horde trudging in the direction of Negan’s base. Now, it’s a pretty good plan in theory, however when you mix in a bit of The Walking Dead “reality” there is one flaw with it: zombies are freaking slow. Seriously this isn’t World War Z. It would have taken them weeks to get as far as they did. I understand there was a time jump, so maybe they’ve been attracting those zombies for a long time to prepare for the moment they carry out their attack. Yet I still feel like that wouldn’t make sense, I don’t think Rick and the rest of the gang would have spent weeks gathering all these zombies and consistently keep on attracting them until they were close enough to reach Negan. I guess I don’t completely comprehend how these walking flesh bags work in the show.

Aren’t Bullets Scarce as Hell?

There are too many scenes in this episode where they just unload a crap ton of bullets for no reason. There is the scene where Carol and her cronies sneak up (again sneaked) on some Savior by his car, then proceed to unload on the one guy when he hides behind his car. Then, when they have their little showdown with Negan (I’ll get to that later, trust me), when Rick decides to start shooting, everyone begins firing. They go crazy shooting at these windows in Negan’s base and it was completely baffling. I was thinking to myself, “What the hell are they shooting at?” and “Are the Saviors shooting back at them?” Please help me understand, because in such a dangerous setting where supplies are so low and rare to find, wouldn’t bullets be the first thing you would want to conserve? They must have gotten their hands-on Herschel’s infinite ammo cheat.

WHY DIDN’T RICK JUST SHOOT NEGAN!!!???

Seriously! The guy was right there the whole time throughout his freaking monologue and all Rick had to was a line up a shot then BAM, problem solved! Rick could have also hidden a marksman in trees or bushes to get a clear shot at Negan and then put a bullet in the dude’s skull. Now, I know that it would’ve been anti-climactic to just kill the archenemy in the very first episode of the season, fans would’ve been pissed off by that and I can understand why. Though this whole scene with them having their little stare down was just so ridiculous. I was just watching that scene carry out the whole time and yelling at the screen, “Do it! Do it, Rick! He’s right there! Just do it already!” I felt like I was channeling Shia LaBeouf. But alas it didn’t happen, and we now have to wait another 18 episodes of The Walking Dead for that to hopefully happen because Rick couldn’t stop to think how easily he could have taken him out.

I know it’s the first episode of the season and hopefully it picks up a little momentum. It’s just that this premiere was filled with a lot of annoying irritating parts that made it kinda hard to enjoy. However, I will say though that I enjoyed the future/dream moments of old man Rick. I thought they were well done and I’m excited on what they will plan to do with that plotline next. It’s just because of those other head-scratching moments that I don’t list this as a top episode in The Walking Dead series.

‘The Walking Dead’: Rick’s Beard, Polaroid Camera Melt Twitter in S8 Premiere

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the Season 8 premiere of The Walking Dead, entitled “Mercy.” Proceed with caution.

“All Out War” is here, and just like the Great War of Westeros, the build-up is insane. “Mercy,” the 100th episode of The Walking Dead, gives fans no choice but to sit on the edge of their seats. Amid intense fighting, there’s no shortage of material to obsess over. From Rick’s beard, his Polaroid camera, Weird Al Yankovic, and spineless Gregory disappointing everyone as usual (ugh!) the only thing anyone can do now is Tweet (until next week).

That Opening Scene Tho

While it isn’t news to superfans, a portion of the opening scene is one big Easter Egg. It looked familiar because it’s happened before.

Everyone Wants A Polaroid Camera RN

Rick busted out a Polaroid camera and it’s straight outta the 1980’s. Twitter is obsessed.

Here’s Why Rick’s Polaroid Pic Will Give You All The Feels

No, YOU’RE crying. Nevermind, we’re all still crying. 😭

Rick’s Beard Will Distract You From The Feels

Put those tissues aside and stop sniffling, because Twitter’s facial hair obsession is the distraction you need. Fans are entrenched in nail-biting suspense, but between battle scenes, there are flash-forwards to future Rick. It’s literally impossible to look away from his big gray bushy beard. Once beyond the beard, fans on Twitter can’t stop questioning where it fits in the timeline.

Beard aside, Rick Grimes left everyone wondering WTF because he didn’t kill Negan when he had the chance.

He’ll do it eventually, and we all know it.

Old Man Rick Likes Weird Al Yankovic?

Yes. Yes, he does. Old man Rick isn’t just sporting a beard, he’s dropping clue bombs. During the old man Rick scenes, there’s music playing in the background. It sounds like a cover of “Another One Bites The Dust” by Queen, but it’s actually Weird Al Yankovic’s “Another One Rides The Bus.”

Meanwhile, Gregory Still Sucks

Seriously. Gregory is so bad, he’s hard to watch. He’s the reason one of our beloved survivors is in trouble, but we’ll get to that later. Instead of lobbing objects at TV screens, everyone took to Twitter.

Don’t Touch The RV

Too late. it’s gone. Rest In Peace, RV. You will be missed.

Don’t Touch Father Gabriel Either

Father Gabriel suddenly feels compassion for Gregory, so he tries to help him. Minutes after getting help from Father Gabriel, Gregory does what he does best: betrays him. Naturally, Father Gabriel proceeds to do what he does best. He seeks refuge inside a building, shuts himself in, and takes a breath. Problem is, someone else is in the building and his name is Negan. Damn.

We don’t know what’s next because that’s how the season 8 premiere ends. What. The. Actual. F.

SO INTENSE

The Walking Dead season 8 premiere basically gives everyone a temporary case of restless leg syndrome.

It’s going to take all week to decode the timeline and figure out why old man Rick is so old. Is the entire story a nightmare in the mind of old man Rick? WTF is Father Gabriel going to do, trapped in a building with Negan? How does one find film for a Polaroid camera in the middle of a zombie outbreak? Despite the answers to any of these questions, one thing is certain: nobody will miss Gregory when he’s gone.

Did you watch the season 8 premiere of The Walking Dead? What did you think? Are you going to miss Gregory after he’s gone? Let us know @getfandom on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

TwitterFacebook

This recap contains spoilers for The Walking Dead Season 8, episode 1, titled “Mercy.”

The title for The Walking Dead‘s Season 8 premiere couldn’t be more appropriate; after last season saw our heroes being continually outwitted and oppressed by Negan and his brutal Saviors, this opening hour showed our characters and the audience some mercy, with the forces of Alexandria, Hilltop and the Kingdom banding together to fight back against the bat-wielding bully.

The triumphant tone of the premiere fulfilled the promise of the Season 7 finale and leveled the playing field between Rick’s posse and the bad guys; ending with the Saviors’ base being overrun with walkers and leaving two unlikely characters — Negan and Father Gabriel — trapped in a trailer with no obvious way out. While you might expect Negan to want to kill the preacher outright (or at least use him as a human shield), it sounds like there’ll be a little more to their storyline in coming episodes. Read more…

‘The Walking Dead’: Why Dwight is the Most Important Character in Season 8

The most important character in Season 8 of The Walking Dead isn’t Rick Grimes. It isn’t Negan. It isn’t Daryl (gasp!) or even The Scavengers (aka The Junkyard Gang). As long as he’s alive, it’s Dwight.

Dwight is a member of The Saviors, the baddies who scare the 💩  out of everyone. Toward the end of Season 7, Dwight seemed to turn a corner when one of his wood carvings appeared after a shocking fight between the Alexandrians and The Saviors. The implication was that he’d be willing to help our favorite survivors of Alexandria and The Hilltop Colony. But Dwight is hardly trustworthy and has played both sides in the past. Will he pull through for the survivors, or remain loyal to The Saviors? To predict Dwight’s next few moves, we turned to the best method of character alignment analysis, tried and true: Dungeons and Dragons (5th edition, of course). 🤓

In most role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons, every player must choose an alignment for their character. There are 9 alignments, and all include a combination of good and evil, law and chaos. To understand Dwight’s character alignment, we held him up to the ultimate test. Who are the evil characters in The Walking Dead, who are the do-gooders, and where does Dwight fit in? Yeah, we went there:

Morgan Jones

The best way to understand Lawful Good is to think of Obi Wan Kenobi. Like Obi Wan, Morgan fights evil with compassion. He keeps his word, uses Aikido to fight evil, and has a strong sense of honor and duty. However, while we know how things turned out for Obi Wan, we don’t’ yet know if Morgan will stick to his current style of taking down the big baddies. We’ve seen signs of change, but his sense of honor and discipline has yet to wane. Morgan is Lawful Good.

Rick Grimes

Rick Grimes has leadership qualities and comes off as a consistent do-gooder. But (and this is a real doozy when it comes to character alignment), Rick has been lured by evil decisions which have come back to haunt not only him but the people who trust him as their leader. The Saviors have wanted to kill the Alexandrians and Hilltop Colony ever since Rick and his tribe raided one of their compounds and mercilessly killed every single person in the building. Going into Season 8, Rick’s leadership qualities are back intact, only after he spent time disappointing all of his followers by giving into Negan’s demands, and that makes him nothing more or less than Neutral Good.

Daryl, Carol, and Michonne

Nobody fights for a cause quite like a rebel who loves their friends. Whether good or bad, a Chaotic Good character has strong morals, but F society. Personal freedom is important to a rebel, but they will never walk away from fighting for greater good. Much like Kara “Starbuck” Thrace in Battlestar Galactica, Chaotic Good characters are the ones who will save us all, even if it’s at their own expense. Carol, Daryl and Michonne are all Chaotic Good, and we’d bank on at least one of them dying for their friends.

Walkers

Like the Grim Reaper, Walkers have one job to do and one job only: eat people, and brains. They don’t care if they eat the brains of good or bad people. As long as they have a head, they have a job to do, and they’re going to do it. No. Matter. What. Walkers are Lawful Neutral, even if we fear them the most.

Gregory 🙄

Gregory is a lot like Star Wars’ Boba Fett. Like Boba Fett, Gregory will do just about anything to please anyone. It seems evil, but it’s really just what True Neutral characters do best: nothing good, and nothing bad. True Neutral characters lack emotion and conviction. They do whatever they think is best to do depending on the moment. Gregory‘s inability to make real decisions makes him one of the worst leaders on The Walking Dead, and it’s incredibly hard not to throw things at the TV every time he’s on screen. Maybe with a little backstory, his character will become more interesting (?) but right now he’s just another True Neutral, making him the lamest character in the entire series. Gregory is a true True Neutral. Eyeroll.

Jadis

Jadis is the leader of The Junkyard Gang (aka The Scavengers) and is very likely the “little birdie” who told Negan about Rick’s plans to fight The Saviors. But can we blame her? With a Chaotic Neutral character alignment, this is to be expected. Jadis is a lot like Q from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Aside from sharing a most curious way of talking, neither Q or Jadis are actually evil, even when their actions appear to be cruel. Chaotic Neutral is often called “The Free Spirit” because they are anarchists. They do not believe in any form of government, and usually, stay mostly focused on their own well being. Chaotic Neutral characters do not take pleasure in the suffering of others, nor are they motivated by it. These anarchists are curious characters. Jadis is not likely to stay loyal to Negan if he impedes upon the well being of her gang.

Simon (is Negan)

Ugh. Simon. Just, ugh. He’s the worst, and he’s basically the Darth Vader of The Walking Dead. Lawful Evil characters are totally diabolical, but not independent. They will always follow their evil leader, whether it’s Negan, or the Emperor. They are totally loyal to their leader and have no regard for life. Known as “The Dominator,” they are the ultimate follower, making them the stewards of evil and destruction. Lawful Evil characters are obedient; they will follow the code of evil at all times. Yikes. And that smile is terrifying, ffs. Simon is Negan’s most loyal follower, and he DGAF if anyone gets hurt, including other Saviors.

Negan is Chaotic Evil

Negan. Is. Terrifying. If Ramsay Bolton were in The Walking Dead universe, he would be Negan. Chaotic Evil characters are selfish destroyers and have no respect for rules. The rule is whatever a Chaotic Evil decides it is. These evil characters are greedy and take from others. Whether it’s Ramsay taking Winterfell, or Negan taking from, well, everyone he can find on the Eastern seaboard, these are the baddies who deal in pure Chaotic Evil.

So, what about Dwight? Is he evil?

Dwight is the malefactor on The Walking Dead. His backstory shows that at one time he may have been good. When he first met Daryl, back before he looked exactly like Two-Face, he answered the infamous 3 Questions. He told Daryl he’d killed more Walkers than he could count but had never killed a human because “When you kill a person, there’s no going back.”  Later on in the story, we find Dwight with a half-burned face, killing humans without remorse. It’s clear that by deciding to re-join the Saviors in Episode 6 of the sixth season, he left behind any honorable qualities he may have once maintained. Dwight is Neutral Evil, which basically makes him the Littlefinger of Alexandria. He will work for both sides without any real conviction and engages in evil behavior if he thinks he’ll get away with it. Ew.

Dwight is the most important character walking into Season 8 because he is the malefactor in the story. He’s a wrongdoer, who appears to be willing to do right. But, as with all wrongdoers, he cannot be trusted. He’ll engage in mayhem and destruction if he can get away with it, and he lacks a moral code.

Will Dwight go back to who he was before he re-joined the Saviors and began killing humans? If he does, his alignment will surely shift. But for now, Dwight is Neutral Evil. He’s just a bad guy, willing to do bad things at any time, for either side. The side he chooses may benefit, because the survivors are on the brink of all-out war with the saviors, and it won’t be pretty.

What do you think? Are these alignments accurate? Do you trust Dwight? Let us know @getfandom on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

This Walking Dead Fan Favorite Could Come Back for the FTWD Crossover

Life is looking up for fans of The Walking Dead universe. Not only is Season 8 rapidly approaching, but producers also recently confirmed there will be a crossover with AMC’s prequel series, Fear the Walking Dead. And now? Well, if the rumors are true, a beloved TWD fan favorite may be coming back to life.

More: A Walking Dead & Fear the Walking Dead Crossover Is Happening

Don’t worry — we’re not talking about reanimating in the walker way. Rather, rumor has it that the character who will be featured on the FTWD crossover will be none other than one of TWD‘s dearly departed stars. Of course, that doesn’t exactly narrow it down. Fans of the franchise have lost many favorite characters over the years.

So who could be getting their second coming? Get ready for the return of the best one-liners on TV, because it looks like we may be seeing Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) in the near future.

More: Did a Walking Dead Star Just Spoil the Season 8 Premiere?

Naturally, AMC and TWD‘s showrunners are keeping any substantial information about the crossover close to the vest. At New York ComicCon, creator Robert Kirkman did offer a hint, though, saying, “There is one character that is going to go from one show, that I will not name, to another show, that I will not name. Now, what does that mean? Because the timelines, like… how does that work? Are we going to see an interesting backstory of The Walking Dead character in Fear the Walking Dead? Or are we going to see a Fear the Walking Dead character show up in The Walking Dead and show a future version of the character?”

The former, apparently — here’s what we know.

Right after that ComicCon panel, Cudlitz tweeted, “Crazy shit is about to go down. See y’all on the other side.” Coincidence? Possibly. But, I mean, c’mon. See y’all on the other side?!

Then, during this weekend’s FTWD Season 3 finale, it was revealed our survivors would be heading to Houston, Texas. Fans of TWD quickly connected the dots to Abraham, whose backstory involved a grocery store in Houston.

Fear the Walking Dead‘s fourth season will return with new showrunners in 2018, along with TWD showrunner Scott Gimple as an executive producer. TWD’s Season 8 premiere will air on Oct. 22 at 9 pm ET on AMC.

‘The Walking Dead’ Character Catch-Up Ahead of Season 8

We’ve already looked at where Season 7 of The Walking Dead left off here, focusing on both the key and most discussed characters from last season, and how they played into the season’s narrative. But what of the rest? Here’s our character catch-up to remind you where the other major players are and what we last saw them doing before Season 8 kicks off.

Michonne

Michonne saw out the season in a bad state in the infirmary at Alexandria. Thankfully, though, everybody’s favourite katana-wielding badass is alive to fight another day.

How’d she get in this predicament though? If you remember, she was involved in a fight with a turncoat Scavenger on her balcony post as Rick’s carefully laid plan went awry. As Michonne handed Farron a rifle after briefing her, the Scavenger turned the gun on Michonne, telling her: “We win.”

They fought, with Michonne seeming to come off worse, brutally beaten by her opponent. Farron pushed her towards the edge of the balcony.

Rick and Carl, seeing a body plummet, thought the worst — but on investigating they discovered Farron’s body, not Michonne. Finding a battered Michonne inside, they transferred her to the infirmary. Rick was seen holding her hand.

Carol and Morgan have a deep understanding.

Carol spent much of the season in self-imposed exile from the group, holing up on the outskirts of Ezekiel’s camp. But in a tearful reunion with Daryl, she came to realise she needs them as much as they need her.

Carol’s season ended in the final episode when she joined Morgan and the Kingdom to fight the Saviors alongside Rick and co. And she arrived in timely fashion, pitching up just as it appeared that Negan had the upper hand. About to kill Carl, in jumped Shiva the tiger to maul one of Negan’s men, in turn frightening the bejeesus out of the barbed baseball-bat swinging bad guy.

Following the battle, Carol was seen at Sasha’s funeral, then sitting next to Morgan on the steps of a house. The pair looked at one another, seemingly putting any previous differences behind them.

Finally, she was present as Maggie, Rick and Ezekiel addressed the united communities.

Tara

The Walking Dead Tara
Natania holds a gun to Tara’s head, while Cyndie looks on.

Tara signed off from Season 7 after having discovered a new community – the Oceansiders – that proved crucial to Rick’s plans to attack the Saviors. Though leader Natania refused to allow her people to join the fight, she did give up their weapons so that Rick and his allies were fully tooled up. During the season, Tara also forged a relationship with Cyndie from the Oceanside community. It’s a friendship that may yet give more next season.

Tara was last seen in the season finale. We first saw her confronting Dwight, who had been locked in a cell in Alexandria. Dwight, of course, killed Tara’s girlfriend Denise. She urged Daryl to kill him, but he refrained because of Dwight’s protests that Denise wasn’t the intended target, and because he seemed ready to double-cross Negan.

The climactic shootout with the Saviors saw Rosita getting shot. Tara took on the responsibility of transferring her to the infirmary, where she was later seen sitting by her bedside. She was present at Sasha’s funeral and was last seen at the address to the communities by Rick, Ezekiel and Maggie.

Carl

Carl was targeted once again by Negan in the season finale. The charming brute threatened to kill him, and then Shiva showed up and threw a spanner in the works. This followed the savage season opener, in which Negan tried to make Rick chop his own son’s arm off. Carl must be getting pretty peeved by now.

Season 7 has in part been about developing Carl’s character, and in the final episode, he showed his mettle. He took the initiative and led the attack against the Saviors and Scavengers during the affray when zombie Sasha emerged from the coffin.

After seeing a body fall from the balcony at which Michonne was posted, he accompanied Rick, prepared for the worst, only to see the Scavenger’s body on the ground. They found Michonne inside, badly beaten.

Enid

The Walking Dead-Carl-Enid
Young love.

Enid spent much of Season 7 with Maggie at the Hilltop, after a touching journey there with Carl involving the two wearing roller skates. They shared a kiss then Carl took off to hunt down Negan.

She joined the fight at Alexandria against the Saviors and Scavengers as part of the Hilltop faction, and then joined the hunt for zombie Sasha after the fighting had dissipated. She then attended Sasha’s funeral.

Morgan

the-walking-dead-episode-713-morgan-james-gun-1200x707
Morgan is basically a badass.

Morgan has had an eventful season. In it, he has saved Carol and introduced her to Ezekiel and the Kingdom. Having come to the realisation that sometimes you have to kill, relinquishing his pacifist ideals, he also strangled Richard to death in Season 7.

After initially vowing to go after the Saviors alone, Morgan allowed Ezekiel to convince him to fight together in the season finale. He joined the fight alongside the Kingdom regiment at just the right moment, saving Carl’s life. During the battle, he used both a gun and his sharpened staff.

Before seeing him at the speech uniting the communities that closed the episode, he was seen sitting alone on the steps of a house. Carol joined him – both seemingly now at peace with each other.

Father Gabriel

Gabriel was intrinsic to Season 7, solidifying his relationship with Rick and proving himself a vital member of the group. He’s come a long way from the scaredy-cat priest who betrayed his flock. He’s now fighting with the best of them, and playing Negan to boot, leading their ruthless enemy to believe — quick as a flash — that Maggie is dead early on in the season. He also told Spencer he was a “tremendous s–t”, which was surely one of his finest moments.

After having been captured by the Scavengers, Gabriel was critical to negotiations with Jadis and her group. And after the betrayal, he joined the battle in Alexandria.

We last saw him running Sasha’s funeral service, and then listening to the speech uniting the communities.

Ezekiel

The Walking Dead-Ezekiel
We’ve learned a lot about Ezekiel, but is there more to come?

We’ve learned a lot about Ezekiel in a short space of time. He’s only been in the show for a season, but already he’s established himself as an important ally to Rick and the gang. He’s forged tight bonds with both Carol and Morgan, and we already know some of his background — he used to be a zookeeper. Hence his friendship with Shiva, a tiger he nursed back to health.

Ezekiel and Shiva were crucial in the fight against the Saviors and Scavengers at Alexandria in the season finale. They arrived, with Carol and Morgan and the rest of the Kingdom people, at just the right moment. As Negan readied himself to execute Carl, Shiva leapt in and took them all by surprise as she began mauling enemies. Ezekiel fought alongside Carol until their foes fled.

Finally, he delivered a speech to the communities united at Alexandria alongside Rick and Maggie.

Jadis

The-Walking-Dead-Jadis-Junkyard
Jadis betrays Rick’s trust in Season 7.

Jadis came into Season 7 of The Walking Dead an unlikeable character; a tough negotiator who threw Rick into a fight arena with a spiked walker. She left the season even more detestable.

Having struck a deal off-camera with Negan and the Saviors, the leader of the Scavengers earned Rick’s trust only to betray him.

She also revealed she has her sights set on Rick romantically – something that made Michonne bristle.

After turning her gun on Rick and shooting him in the season finale, she pushed Rick off the platform they were both standing on. She coldly delivered Rick to Negan, making him kneel down beside Carl who Negan was gearing up to kill. Negan reneged on his deal with Jadis here – offering her ten of his men instead of their agreed twelve. Could this be the first sign that Jadis might switch allegiance next season?

Last seen escaping amid the haze from the smoke bombs she and her people set off.

Sherry

Dwight’s wife Sherry made an intriguing departure mid-way through Season 7. After freeing Daryl from the Sanctuary, she too fled.

Negan ordered Dwight to go and find her but instead, he found a note from her containing her confession to setting Daryl free, an apology and their wedding rings.

The incident led to Dwight approaching Rick’s contingent, telling them he was sorry for everything. Now that Sherry is no longer in Negan’s clutches, Dwight has nothing keeping him tied to his side.

Sherry hasn’t been seen since Episode 11, and could well return in Season 8.

Rosita

the-walking-dead-episode-714-rosita-serratos-fence-1200x707
Rosita is in a bad way, but she’s recovering.

Season 7 saw Rosita team up with love rival Sasha to avenge Abraham’s death at the hands of Negan, and also to free Eugene. Their mission resulted in Sasha being captured.

She was also responsible for Eugene’s capture. She urged him to make the bullet she uses against Negan after he kills Spencer. Olivia lost her life because Rosita insisted it was she who made the bullet. After this, Eugene confessed and Negan took him, seeing his usefulness.

Rosita was shot during the finale showdown, and was last seen recovering in the infirmary with Tara at her side.

Gregory

THe Walking Dead-Gregory
Xander Berkeley as Gregory in The Walking Dead Season 7, Episode 8 | Photo: Gene Page/AMC

Gregory was last seen in the penultimate episode of Season 7. After considering killing Maggie when her back was turned, he attempted to kill a walker but chickened out. When a second walker came at him, Maggie saved him, telling a watching group of Hillside residents it was his first time. This wasn’t what Gregory had led them to believe.

The previous episode saw him telling Negan’s right-hand man Simon that he might need Negan’s help at some point to quell insurgents. Simon gave him a note that will gain him access to the Sanctuary if he needs it.

Following the Maggie incident, Gregory took Simon’s note from his top pocket, then called for Hilltop guard Kal, telling him to pack a bag and prepare to drive him somewhere. This will doubtless have repercussions in Season 8.

The Walking Dead Season 8 premieres in the US on October 22 and a day later in the UK.

Which Original ‘Walking Dead’ Characters Are Still Alive?

Staying alive on The Walking Dead is tricky.

Aside from the flesh-eating walkers, there’s limited food and resources, and other humans fighting for the little that’s left. Even if you’re strong (like Abraham) or resourceful (Glenn), you may not survive.

Season 7 saw the deaths of series regulars Sasha, Abraham, and of course, the aforementioned Glenn. His death at the hands of Negan was particularly hard because he was one of the original cast members. He was also the moral center of the survivors, refusing to kill (until he was forced to during the raid on the Saviors) and risking his life to save others.

Of the original cast members (which we define as principal or supporting roles from Season 1), only five remain. So who’s still alive as the zombie drama heads into Season 8?

Rick Grimes

As the protagonist of the series, it’s hard to imagine the showrunners killing off Rick. But it’s happened on other shows before (ahem, Game of Thrones). Rick’s survived being shot (thrice!), stabbed, and beaten to a pulp countless times. Rick takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

In the comics, Rick loses a hand (ala Jaime Lannister) to The Governor. Negan nearly took Carl’s hand in the Season 7 premiere — will he take Rick’s limb if not his life?

Carl Grimes

Rick’s son Carl (Chandler Riggs) was mere inches away from having Negan bash his head in during the Season 7 finale. Thankfully, Shiva (a goddamned tiger!) and Ezekiel’s Hilltop fighters intervened. Carl is reckless and impetuous, which can sometimes land him in trouble (like that time he tried to take out Negan solo). The one thing Carl has going for him is that Negan really likes him, which could save him.

Daryl Dixon

If Daryl dies, we riot.

That’s been the mantra for Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) fans. A skilled archer and tracker with an aversion to sleeves, Daryl has survived the most harrowing of near-death situations. Viewers still haven’t gotten over the death of Glenn; if Daryl dies, it might be The Walking Dead’s jump the shark moment.

Carol Peletier

Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) has gone from meek and battered housewife to strong and assertive leader. She’s also more than capable on her own, having left the group multiple times only to return in times of need. Carol may have looser morals — she’s known to kill without remorse to ensure her survival — which makes her a survivor. One thing’s for sure — if Carol goes down, she’ll go down fighting.

Morgan James

Morgan (Lennie James) appeared in the first episode of The Walking Dead and didn’t reappear until the third season, finally joining the survivors in Season 5. Now that he is willing to take a human life, Morgan has become a huge threat to the Saviors, and when you’re a threat, you’re a target.

Will all of the original cast make it?

Catch the season premiere of The Walking Dead on October 22 in the U.S. and October 23 in the U.K.

The four people arrested — 23-year-old Frederick A. Blair of Norwood, 37-year-old Madani Ceus from Haiti, 50-year-old Nathan Yah from Haiti, and 53-year-old Ika Eden from Jamaica — have been initially charged with felony child abuse causing death, CBS Denver reports.

Officials: 1 Dead in Charleston Hostage Situation

A gunman described as a “disgruntled employee” shot and killed a person and wounded another at a restaurant in Charleston, S.C., officials say.

CNN reports that several hostages were safely released.

“This is not an act of terrorism,” Mayor John Tecklenburg said to a group of reporters. “This is not a hate crime. It’s a disgruntled employee who has come on the scene of his employment.”

The shooting took place shortly before noon, officials say. Several hostages were inside. The hostage situation ended around 3:30 p.m., the mayor and police said.

Police asked people to avoid the area near Virginia’s on King until the situation at the downtown establishment was contained.

One of the shooting victims was a chef and the gunman was a former dishwasher, a representative of the restaurant said.

The suspect was reportedly shot by police and transported to a hospital. All hostages are now free and safe.

Natalie Cole’s Son, Robert Yancy, Dead At 39

According to a report from TMZ, Robert Yancy, the only child of legendary singer Natalie Cole, was found dead in his apartment located in California’s San Fernando Valley, on Monday night.

Yancy’s body was discovered by a friend who went to check on him after not hearing from him after several days. Authorities called Yancy’s family around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning to inform them that Yancy died of a heart attack. A formal autopsy and toxicology test will be conducted, but until then, Yancy’s cause of death is listed as “natural causes,” TMZ reports.

Family members were told by police that drugs played no role in his death and remain adamant that drug abuse was not a factor in his life.

His mother, however, struggled with drug addiction as an adult and openly talked about her path to sobriety, up until her death in 2015. Cole died of congestive heart failure. Yancy’s father, Marvin, died at the age of 34 from a heart attack, so ultimately, heart disease is a factor in the immediate family.

Condolences to Yancy’s family and friends at this difficult time.

Car Plowing Through Charlottesville Crowd Leaves 1 Dead, 19 Injured

The situation unfolding in Charlottesville, Virginia took a dark turn in the wake of Gov. Terry McAuliffe declared a state of emergency in the city. A car plowed into the throng of gatherers in the city, leaving one dead and 19 others injured.

CNN reports:

One person was killed and 19 were hurt when a speeding car slammed into a throng of counterprotesters in Charlottesville, where a “Unite the Right” rally of white nationalist and other right-wing groups had been scheduled take place, the city tweeted on its verified account.

The driver was later taken into custody, the city said in a news release. It did not name the person.

“I am heartbroken that a life has been lost here. I urge all people of good will — go home,” Mayor Mike Signer wrote on Twitter.

The city added that there were 15 other injuries associated with the scheduled rally.

Reports say the driver of the gray Dodge Challenger rammed one car from behind then reversed the vehicle down a packed street. Images have appeared of the carnage online and we must warn that some of those images are disturbing.

Adding to the overall intensity of situations on the ground in the city, a Virginia State Police helicopter crashed near the site of the protests, leaving two troopers dead.
