Dennis Rodman Breaks Down Weeping in Insane Interview About Kim Jong Un

CNN

When CNN needed to find a voice to react to the historic meeting between North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and President Donald Trump, its bookers turned to one man who knew both leaders personally: Dennis Rodman.

In a bizarre, emotional interview on CNN on Monday, the mercurial former NBA star broke down in tears while praising the meeting between the two leaders. He also noted his own tumultuous history with North Korea.

Sporting a red Make America Great Again hat, large tinted sunglasses, and a T-shirt plugging the cryptocurrency potcoin.com, Rodman recalled how he was chastised for personally befriending Kim during several trips to the hermit kingdom. Rodman had been widely criticized for showering attention and publicity on Kim during those trip. But he claimed he did not know anything about the North Korean regime or its atrocities before he agreed to travel there.

Here Are the Average Ticket Prices for the 2018 NBA Finals — Plus the Insane Costs to Sit Courtside

The 2018 NBA Finals are officially underway, with the Golden State Warriors facing the Cleveland Cavaliers in a historic fourth consecutive showdown for the championship.

After a thrilling Warriors overtime victory in Game 1— featuring controversial calls by the referees, a 51-point performance by LeBron James, and a meme-worthy blunder by his Cavaliers teammate J.R. Smith—fan excitement is heating up.

Game 2, scheduled for Sunday, June 3, at 8 p.m. ET at Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California, is sure to draw viewers eager to watch the 2018 NBA Finals to see what happens next. ABC is broadcasting all 2018 NBA Finals games, and there are multiple options for live streaming the series.

What if you want to see the games in person? What are 2018 NBA Finals ticket prices looking like? And if money is no object, how much do courtside NBA Finals tickets cost? Here’s all the info you need.

Average Price of 2018 NBA Finals Tickets

Relatively speaking, 2018 NBA Finals tickets are actually pretty cheap. As the Warriors-Cavaliers series began, ticket resale and research sites like TicketIQ and SeatGeek reported that the lowest “get-in” ticket prices were less expensive than they’d been in years.

According to SeatGeek, the average 2018 NBA Finals tickets get-in price—meaning: the cheapest ticket on the secondary market that will get you into the game—for the first four games was $ 418.50. That’s nearly $ 100 less than the 2017 NBA Finals average get-in ticket price for the first four games ($ 514.50).

The cheapest 2018 NBA Finals tickets overall are for Game 3, scheduled for Wednesday, June 6, in Cleveland. Get-in ticket prices for that game currently range from $ 220 to $ 280 at resale sites like StubHub, Vivid Seats, TicketIQ, and SeatGeek, though fans should expect to pay a bit more after fees are added in. The cheapest get-in ticket prices for any game in the previous three NBA Finals series, meanwhile, were $ 395 (2017), $ 502 (2016), and $ 461 (2015), according to TicketIQ.

In terms of the overall average of NBA Finals ticket prices, as you’d guess they’re significantly more expensive than the get-in price. TicketIQ data shows that the average asking price of 2018 NBA Finals tickets on the secondary market is currently $ 1,894. That’s actually higher than the overall average ticket price for NBA Finals in 2017 ($ 1,767) and 2015 ($ 1,604), but cheaper than it was in 2016 ($ 1,931).

2018 NBA Finals Front Row Ticket Price

How much do courtside NBA Finals tickets cost? Be prepared to shell out serious cash if you to watch the 2018 NBA Finals in the front row.

Using data from the reseller TicketCity, Forbes reported that the most expensive 2018 NBA Finals tickets for courtside seats ranged from $ 15,896 (for Game 7) up to a whopping $ 76,956 (Game 2). Mind you, those were merely asking prices before the series began—and not necessarily what people will ultimately pay for them.

But if someone does decide to bite at the high end, they’d break the mark set during the 2017 NBA Finals, when someone paid $ 90,000 for two floor tickets for Game 5, and another pair of seats went for a record-high $ 133,000.

As of Friday, we were able to find far cheaper 2018 NBA Finals VIP tickets if you’re willing to sit slightly further back from the action. For example, courtside seats near the baseline in Row A5 (fifth row) for Game 2 on Sunday, June 3, in Oakland were listed at $ 3,493 at SeatGeek. After more than $ 1,300 in fees, a pair of those tickets would run “only” $ 8,351. And floor tickets in the third row for Game 3 in Cleveland were listed starting at $ 2,532 each, or $ 6,053 for a pair, after fees. What a bargain!

After Stormy Daniels Interview, Remember These 5 Things Obama Did That Drove His Critics Insane

Since former President Barack Obama handed over the presidential mantle to Donald Trump, a day hasn’t gone by without controversy. While the Republican Party deals with a credible threat of losing the majority of its Senate seats in November, Trump is dealing with a scandal that could leave his presidency in ruins.

In a televised interview with 60 Minutes on Sunday, former adult film star, Stephanie Clifford, popularly known as Stormy Daniels, confirmed to Anderson Cooper that she did receive a $ 130,000 payout from the personal lawyer of President Donald Trump’s just 10 days before the 2016 presidential elections. She claimed she was pressured by Trump to have sex with him, even revealing to have spanked the president with a magazine with his face on it.

Although the interview didn’t reveal any new information that hadn’t already been reported in the press, Daniels said she had been pressured and even threatened after she made multiple attempts to tell her story.

So what’s the big deal with an adult film star having consensual intimate relations with Trump over a decade ago? Well, for one, America holds whoever occupies the executive office to the highest of moral standards—for present and past actions. That wasn’t enough to impeach former president Bill Clinton who was had numerous sexual misconduct allegations leveled against him. The liability of President Trump, however, is that his deal with Daniels could be seen as an election expense which violates campaign finance laws.

The scandals and controversies that Trump and his allies are embroiled in seem a far cry from any of the missteps Obama made while he was in office. Obama’s political opponents, however, will have the American public believe otherwise. As a reminder of simpler times, here are five controversial moments during ex-president Obama’s term:

1. The Button-Down Rule:

A week after President Obama was sworn into office in January 2009, he didn’t waste any time landing on Fox News’ controversy radar with his implementation of the “button-down” rule—a deviation from his predecessor’s ironclad rule of a coat and tie in the Oval Office at all times.

“I don’t care if it’s warm enough to grow orchids in the Oval Office. Put your suit jacket on,” Andrew H. Card, a former Bush White House official, told the New York Times at the time.

Ken Langone, co-founder of The Home Depot and a well-known Wall Street figure said on CNBC at the time:

“Let me make it very clear, and I’m sure I’m going to get a lot of hate mail because of this, and that’s okay,” Langone said. “I think our sitting president is acting so unpresidential …. He is dividing us as a nation. He is not bringing us together. He’s willfully dividing us. He’s petulant.”

2. The Coffee Cup Salute

In 2014, while boarding Marine One, Obama offered what CNN called a “less-than-formal salute,” to a Marine standing guard as he exited the presidential helicopter. Critics were quick to pounce on Obama’s coffee cup salute deeming it disrespectful to the traditions of the military.

“Wait—did President Obama just salute the Marines with a LATTE in his hand?!” the National Republican Congressional Committee wrote on Twitter.

While the Daily Caller, a Washington-based conservative new website, said saluting in general is “the “most important of all military courtesies,” citing the U.S. Navy manual on customs and courtesies, it recommends not saluting when one is “carrying articles with both hands or being otherwise occupied as to make saluting impractical.”

3. His Tan Suit:

Remember when President Obama wore a tan suit to a press briefing and Republicans lost their minds? Simpler times.

While Obama had his fair share of missteps in office, the “tan suit scandal” was blown out of proportion as the president pushed forward the “Obamacare” agenda and as citizens protested the unarmed killing of Michael Brown. Talking heads on Fox News debated if the suit was tan or beige. Even GQ said, “it can’t let this terrible khaki suit fly.”

4. The Beer Summit

On July 16, 2009, Henry Louise Gates Jr., a Harvard professor, was arrested in the front of his own house in Massachusetts by local police. Gates Jr. told his story, which is all too familiar to African Americans, even affluent ones, who get profiled and in many cases, arrested. It became a national story.

President Obama was just six months into his first term, focused on stabilizing the economy and passing “Obamacare” when the news broke. A week later, during a press conference about healthcare reform, the D.C. bureau chief for the Chicago Sun-Times asked Obama his thoughts about the Gates Jr. incident. The president spoke candidly:

“Now, I’ve—I don’t know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that. But I think it’s fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home. And number three, what I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there is a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately.”

“To make such an off-handed comment about a subject without benefit of the facts, in such a public forum, hurts police/community relations and is a setback to all of the years of progress,” James Preston, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Florida State Lodge, said.

Former Republican Congressman Thaddeus McCotter said he would introduce a resolution in the House of Representatives calling on the president to apologize to the police officer who arrested Gates Jr. The story dominated airways and hallways, mounting pressure on Obama to apologize.

Then President Obama hosted Gates Jr. and Sgt. Crowley in what is now deemed the “Beer Summit.”

5. The Selfie Stick

In 2015, President Obama teamed up with Buzzfeed to sell “Obamacare” to the online publisher’s enormous young audience. The video, titled, “Things People Do But Doesn’t Talk About,” featured Obama in front of a mirror making various expressions. He was shown drawing the picture of a little girl, even using a selfie stick and a “Thanks, Obama” joke. Cool, right?

Well, Fox News deemed it unpresidential.

Leland Vittert said that it could be interpreted as Obama “not taking his job seriously.” He drew parallels between the selfie stick and Obama going golfing after the brutal beheading of James Foley. Angela McGlowan, a black commentator on Fox said although she understands the president’s desire to connect with millennials, “it’s unacceptable behavior in the Oval Office and for the president of the United States.”

Simpler times.

With the entry-level model boasting 300 miles of range, the Tesla Semi promises to be a more affordable, efficient, and capable option for companies who need to haul goods across the country. As Elon Musk made a point of noting a few months ago, the average cost of operating a Tesla Semi on a per-mile basis checks in at 85 cents compared to an average cost of $ 1.51 for rail.

On Saturday, Insane Clown Posse duo Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope will lead members of their devoted fan base, known as Juggalos, in a march on Washington denouncing the FBI for labeling their following a gang.

Insane Clown Posse Fans Juggalos Considered Gang By FBI, Plan Washington March

Juggalos, the very dedicated fans of the Insane Clown Posse, has been designated as a gang by the FBI. In a profile, the life of the roving band of ICP-loving is apparently misunderstood by outsiders, with the profile offering more insight than ever known.

The Washington Post visited the with the Juggalos during a recent gathering in Oklahoma City. It was an up close look at the groups and their zany antics but also delved into the varying levels of expression found in this large collection of people.

The Post writes:

But — amid all the trash-throwing, which served as a prelude to the “seminar,” a key event at the annual gathering, where ICP offers its fans a sort of state of the Juggalo union — a question was running through my mind: Are these people gang members? If the FBI is to be believed, every one of the hundreds of Juggalos under this tent were potentially part of a criminal syndicate. That’s because in 2011, the FBI took the extraordinary and unprecedented step of labeling the entire fan base of ICP a gang, placing them alongside the Bloods, Crips and MS-13, after a string of crimes carried out by people identified as Juggalos.

The move touched off one of the strangest controversies at the crossroads of pop culture, criminal justice and the First Amendment in contemporary America. ICP and the Juggalos were outraged, saying the FBI effectively criminalized being a fan of a musical group. It had far-reaching and severe consequences. Juggalos not associated with gangs have reported being repeatedly stopped by police, added to gang databases, blocked from the military, placed on stricter forms of probation, suspended from school and fired from jobs. Those problems sparked a campaign by ICP and the Juggalos to get the FBI to publicly repudiate the gang label. They say their right to free speech, right to assemble and the good ol’ American right to rawk are being violated.

Their fight has drawn in the American Civil Liberties Union and spurred a federal lawsuit. And the effort moves into a bigger spotlight on Sept. 16 with easily the most unusual protest to hit the nation’s capital in a year full of them: In a rally being organized by ICP, the group’s fans will descend on the Mall for a Juggalo March on Washington. It will be an easy spectacle to lampoon, yet at the heart of the protest will be a quite serious question: While Juggalos can certainly be accused of criminally bad taste, are they actual criminals?

The rest of the profile is just as fascinating and can be read by following this link.

The Juggalos march is slated for Sept. 16.

Why Smart Phones Are Driving Everyone Insane

2017-01-05-1483643814-5784134-SmartPhonesAreDrivingEveryoneInsaneHP.jpeg

There’s nothing worse than whipping out your smartphone during a meeting, and few things will turn someone off to you quite like a mid-conversation text message or even a quick glance at your phone.

Using your phone at inappropriate times annoys your boss and colleagues according to research from USC’s Marshall School of Business, and if you work with women and people over forty they’re even more perturbed by it than everyone else.

The researchers conducted a nationwide survey of 554 full-time working professionals earning above $ 30K and working in companies with at least 50 employees. They asked a variety of questions about smartphone use during meetings and found:

  • 86% think it’s inappropriate to answer phone calls during meetings
  • 84% think it’s inappropriate to write texts or emails during meetings
  • 66% think it’s inappropriate to write texts or emails even during lunches offsite
  • The more money people make the less they approve of smartphone use.

The study also found that Millennials are three times more likely than those over 40 to think that smartphone use during meetings is okay, which is ironic considering Millennials are highly dependent upon the opinions of their older colleagues for career advancement.

TalentSmart has tested the emotional intelligence (EQ) of more than a million people worldwide and found that Millennials have the lowest self-awareness in the workplace, making them unlikely to see that their smartphone use in meetings is harming their careers.

Why do so many people find smartphone use in meetings to be inappropriate? When you take out your phone it shows a:

  • Lack of respect: You consider the information on your phone to be more important than the conversation at hand, and you view people outside of the meeting to be more important than those sitting right in front of you.
  • Lack of attention: You are unable to stay focused on one thing at a time.
  • Lack of listening: You aren’t practicing active listening, so no one around you feels heard.
  • Lack of power: You are like a modern-day Pavlovian dog who responds to the whims of others through the buzz of your phone.
  • Lack of self-awareness: You don’t understand how ridiculous your behavior looks to other people.
  • Lack of social awareness: You don’t understand how your behavior affects those around you.

I can’t say I’m surprised by the USC study’s findings. My company coaches leaders using 360° assessments that compare their self-perception to how everyone else sees them. Smartphone use in meetings is one of the most common coworker complaints.

Bringing It All Together

It’s important to be clear with what you expect of others. If sharing this article with your team doesn’t end smartphone use in meetings, take a page out of the Old West and put a basket by the conference room door with an image of a smart phone and the message, “Leave your guns at the door.”

What do you think of smartphone use during meetings? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below, as I learn just as much from you as you do from me.
