Samira just opened up about villa life and why she chose to leave Love Island

‘Dani and Jack are going to get married, have kids and all of that’

REX

Love Island 2018 is getting dramatic, with the past week pushing the show to breaking point.

Tonight’s episode reached climax when Samira Mighty, one of the show’s originals, chose to leave the villa, just days after her ‘Prince Charming’ Frankie was voted off the show.

‘I finally got what I wanted and now I feel like I’m back at square one’ she told Dani, breaking the news to her fellow islanders the next morning.

‘This decision is so, so hard,’ she explained. ‘I’m devastated by it but I think that it is the right thing to do – just follow my heart because I’ve never done that before. I’ve always taken the back seat and now I need to go for it head on and leave and just go for Frankie. I’ve got to go with my gut feeling.’

So the 22-year-old left the villa, but how is she feeling now that she’s on the outside?

REX

How do you feel about leaving the villa?

‘I feel very confident and very proud of myself. I feel like it was the right time for me to leave. I’m obviously devastated to be leaving my best friends but this is the perfect time. I’ve found what I wanted to find and it was Frankie so I’m going to go and get him. I do see a future with Frankie, I’ve
never met anyone like him before. He is gorgeous and we did have a genuine connection. I wouldn’t change anything about my time in the villa, I have no regrets.’

Are you looking forward to seeing Frankie?

‘I am really excited and also really nervous. All we know is our villa relationship so I’m really excited to see how it’ll work on the outside world and if we are compatible and do like each other as much as we said. I’m a bit nervous but mostly excited. Just before he left he said “see you in three weeks, see you soon” and he said to a few of the boys that he was going to wait for me so it feels positive at the moment and good.’

Who did you click with the most in the villa?

‘I clicked with everyone. Everyone was my best friend! But I’d say Dani, she is the best, most amazing girl. She always kept me positive. I love Megan so much, we got really close and what she has with Wes is very genuine. I also got on really well with Wes too. Georgia is super confident and bubbly and that’s exactly what she’s always like. I love her, we got really close and I did feel for her with everything she went through with Josh but she is happy with Sam now. I love that girl.’

REX

What are your hopes for Dr Alex?

‘Alex is so unique. He is his own self, he has never changed and he needs a girl to come in for him and not have eyes for anyone else. I just hope that Alex finds love because he has waited long enough. I really like Alexandra, she does seem really nice. And she was genuine about her feelings for Alex when she came in. He really makes her laugh and crack up. There are other single guys in there and they want to take her out… It’s all up to Alexandra, she has the power.’

What is your take on villa life?

‘Villa life is a roller coaster. It is absolutely amazing, I walked around pinching myself that I was there. You go through ups and downs but mostly ups because you’re there with amazing people. You are meeting boys and girls and making friends. It is very intense but your emotions and feelings in there are all real. You completely forget about the cameras. You are so immersed in everyone else.’

REX

What was your standout Love Island memory?

‘I loved the Ministry of Sound party night. I also really enjoyed the stripping dance off challenge. I loved my outfit, my silver thigh high boots! It was nerve-wracking but so fun. The challenges were also amazing and finally meeting Frankie, that was a big milestone for me in the villa.’

Who do you think could be engaged by this time next year?

‘Definitely Dani and Jack. 100 per cent. They are going to get married, have kids and all of that. They are amazing together. And maybe Josh and Kaz, they are very close.’

Who do you think is going to win?

‘Dani and Jack because they have had such a journey from the start. They were coupled up on day one, then she had a little dip where she wasn’t sure how she felt about him. Then Hayley said she fancied Jack and then Jack tried to get a reaction out of Dani by speaking to Hayley. That was ages ago now, I’m even having to jog my memory! They are like magnets to each other now. I love them and I know they really love each other.’

Suge Knight Not Permitted To Leave Jail For Mother’s Funeral

Suge Knight will not be leaving jail to attend his mother’s funeral, because his inmate categorization prevents him from such a privilege.

According to TMZ, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department said Suge’s status as a homicide suspect falls under a category that makes him ineligible to attend funerals.

The Death Row Records co-founder is accused of intentionally ramming his red Ford F-150 pickup into two men in the parking lot of Tam’s Burgers at Central and East Rosecrans avenues following an argument on the set of the movie Straight Outta Compton in January 2015.

Family sources tell TMZ that Maxine Chatman, Suge’s 77-year-old mother, died Sunday, surrounded by family at a hospital in Paramount, CA. Chatman reportedly suffered a stroke last month and her health had been deteriorating since. Her lungs had recently collapsed and she had kidney failure.

All hope is not lost for Suge regarding his mom’s funeral. He could file a petition with the court for a day pass, however, the likelihood of a court going against the Sheriff’s Department is slim, notes TMZ.

Keiynan Lonsdale on How Coming Out Affected His Decision to Leave the Arrowverse

When Love, Simon hit theaters back in March, it validated young members of the LGBTQ community and empowered them to proudly live their truth. But behind-the-scenes, it unexpectedly had the same effect on Keiynan Lonsdale, one of the stars of the groundbreaking film.

When production first began on the movie, Lonsdale hadn’t publicly revealed that he’s attracted to both men and women. But after working on the project, which was the first mainstream gay teen romance of its kind, he realized it was time to share his truth with the world.

The actor came out to the cast and crew on their final day on set, and then came out to the rest of the world in an Instagram post earlier this year. Lonsdale told FANDOM that his time working on Love, Simon was “100% a part” of his decision to let go of the secret he was holding on to for so long.

“I realized while I was filming that it felt like I was a contradiction to what we were fighting for,” he said. “I didn’t come out because of that, it just highlighted and sort of put up a mirror to myself and made me really think and start to realize that I’m not afraid of anything. I’m ready now to make this step. I guess working on a loving film set and having a gay director and playing the character I realized there was nothing holding me back but myself now. So I was super inspired.”

Luckily, when the film came out, it had the same effect on many audience members who were struggling with their sexual identity — something that Lonsdale is proud to be a part of.

“Every single time I hear someone say that they were able to accept themselves, I think it’s an amazing thing. And also that parents have been able to see it and gain such an understanding, a better understanding,” Lonsdale told FANDOM. “I think, most importantly, for an individual to go and see it and walk out of the theater and be like ‘Wow, I’m valid. I am valid. I do love myself and I’m excited to be myself.’ That always makes me really happy to hear.”

Earlier this week, it was announced that Lonsdale would be leaving his role as Wally West on Legends of Tomorrow, where he had the honor of being one of the only openly queer actors to play a superhero in mainstream media. The actor released another Instagram post explaining his decision to leave the Arrowverse, and while he says it wasn’t directly because of his coming out, he acknowledged that he changed a lot after revealing the truth about his sexuality.

“That was the thing I was most holding on to in terms of my life and being stuck personally, and then once I released that, I was able to just continue to grow as a human, just separate of everything, just as a human being,” Lonsdale explained about what triggered his decision to leave the series.

“So I think one of the things I realized was that I just couldn’t do a full-time job anymore,” he added. “I needed to be able to wake up and say, ‘Today I feel like going on an adventure and having no idea where I’ll land. If it ends up great, it ends up great. If I end up falling over, I end up falling over.’ And that’s just what makes me happy and that’s the kind of life I want to live. Until maybe my perspective changes again and then I’ll follow that.”

The possibility of that perspective change leaves hope for the many fans who were devastated by the news that Lonsdale was hanging up his Kid Flash speedster shoes. He promised fans on social media that “it’s definitely not a total goodbye or ‘see ya never’ situation, cause Wally West will still be around when you need him the most.”

But for now, fans of the Australian actor can watch him in the film that helped change his life forever. Love, Simon is available on Digital now and will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on June 12.

Tennessee Waffle House Shooting Leave 4 Dead, 4 Others Injured

Retail Signs

Source: David Kozlowski / Getty

A shooting at a Tennessee Waffle House restaurant left four people dead and another four suffering from injuries. The assault was stopped when a customer rushed the gunman, snatched away an assault rifle, which prompted the man to flee on foot with barely wearing any clothes.

Local outlet News Channel 5 reports:

It happened around 3:25 a.m. Sunday at 3571 Murfreesboro Pike near Hobson Pike.

Metro Nashville Police Department officials named 29-year-old Travis Reinking, from Illinois, as a person of interest in the shooting, saying the vehicle the gunman used was registered to him.

Police said Reinking drove his pickup truck into the Waffle House parking lot around 3:18 a.m.. He sat in the truck for a few minutes before getting out and immediately shooting and killing two people outside of the restaurant with an AR-15.

Officers said he then went inside and shot and killed another victim.

The outlet adds that the customer, also 29, was able to wrestle the gun from Reinking’s hands and tossed it away. Reinking left the area after she shed a coat and was not wearing any clothes in some reports. Reports say Reinking may have lived in the area and fled home after witnesses say they spotted the man walking near woods shirtless.

Holding infants — or not — can leave traces on their genes

The amount of physical contact between infants and their caregivers can affect children at the molecular level. The study of DNA methylation patterns showed that children who had been more distressed as infants and had received less physical contact had a molecular profile that was underdeveloped for their age. This is the first study to show in humans that the simple act of touching, early in life, has deeply-rooted and potentially lifelong consequences on genetic expression.

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS UPDATE:

Can we please stop calling maternity leave ‘time off’?

In her first Friday column, Marie Claire’s entertainment editor Lucy Pavia tackles the language of maternity leave, Nepal’s period banishment and why Cameron Diaz should demand a ‘Reese’ rider

A friend of mine has quit his job to travel the world for a year. I feel little pangs of jealousy every time one of his gorgeous Argentinian waterfall shots pops up on my Instagram feed, usually timed to the second I’ve folded myself into the final air pocket of space left on the train to work. But really, why should he not enjoy some time off after a decade of working his socks off.

I recently heard the same words – ‘time off’ – used to describe a friend who is on maternity leave right now. Her baby is going through the 4-month sleep regression. I think she would quite like to be standing by a peaceful Argentinian waterfall right now, if only for the baby-free opportunity to lie down on the cold hard rock and sleep.

Is it time to call bullshit on using ‘time off’,  ‘a break’ or – as my colleague had it put to her once, ‘your holiday’ – when we’re talking about maternity leave? Not only do the words denote relaxation and me-time, things maternity leave definitely don’t involve, there’s the underlying suggestion that we’re not all part of the same cycle.

Were the people I’ve listened to moan about the ‘disruption’ caused by their colleague ‘going off to have a baby again’ raised by a stork? Or did they simply materialise, age 25, in a suit with adult social skills and a law degree, ready to take their place in the workforce?

Perhaps they believe the business of continuing the human race has nothing to do with them, even if many of those humans will one day be adults who work in an office and pay taxes like they do, or care for them when they’re old and infirm?

A man once told me quietly that he wasn’t entirely sure he was a feminist after seeing his brother run a small business that was ‘disrupted’ (that word again) by a woman having a baby. I argued that his problem wasn’t with women but with a system that sees child rearing as a women problem in isolation.

I know it’s a cliché to bang the Scandi drum when it comes to parental leave policy, but case in point is a work meeting my husband had recently with a group of Swedish men. They told him a man in their office had been nicknamed ‘the caveman’ because he only took three months of parental leave. They’d all taken six.

With uptake of shared leave in the UK still pretty low by comparison (according to research by law firm EMW just 1% took it up between April 2016 and March 2017) we’ll need seismic cultural shifts to get to this point. But adjusting our language is a good place to start.

‘Getting to know a baby looks like doing an awful lot of nothing, and that’s what it feels like too. It’s 24-hour, frequently lonely, often dull’, my friend Jules tells me on email. ‘It’s also life-changing, rewarding and magical. But what it is not, is a holiday.’

Or, as another friend Rachel puts it, ‘you know what is time off? Getting to go back to work!’

Why Cameron Diaz should ask for a ‘Reese’ rider

Selma Blair has been forced to do some damage control after talking about her friend Cameron Diaz’s ‘retirement’ from acting. At the Vanity Fair Oscars pre-party, Blair said the pair would not be making a sequel of The Sweetest Thing because ‘Cameron’s retired from acting. She’s like “I’m done.” She doesn’t need to make any more films. She has a pretty great life, I don’t know what it would take to bring her back.’

Blair has now insisted the statement was a joke and her friend is still very much in the game. But if Diaz – whose last film Annie was released in 2014 – is privately a bit fed up with Hollywood, perhaps she could introduce a new clause.

Frances McDormand asked actors to insist on an ‘inclusion rider’ in her Oscars speech. Since some of the best and most inclusive TV and film is now being made by Reese Witherspoon under her production company Hello Sunshine (Big Little Lies with Meryl, A White Lie with Zendaya, Jennifer Aniston’s as-yet-untitled return to TV as a morning show anchor, Little Fires Everywhere with Kerry Washington) perhaps Diaz could take it one step further by demanding a Reese Rider. No Witherspoon? No deal.

The cups saving women in Nepal

Those imposing it now face jail time if caught, but the old practice of Chhaupadi – banishing women and girls to huts when they’re on their period – is still widespread in Nepal.

Chhaupadi can leave women exposed to the elements and malnourished, as they’re often also forbidden to consume fruit, vegetables and milk products. There was international outrage last year when an 18-year-old called Tulsa Shahi died after being bitten by a snake during her time in a menstruation hut.

But a wider use of menstrual cups are helping reduce the number of women isolated by their communities. ‘Because menstruation cups don’t produce any trash, they provide us with privacy’ Executive director of Nepal Communitere, Bahar Kumar, told ABC news, ‘I’ve bought all my nieces menstrual cups and implemented a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy for myself in my family, slowly encouraging them to do the same.’

The solution isn’t perfect – Deputy Director of Women LEAD Nepal, Shreya Thapa, says a change in mentality is also badly needed – but the cups provide a level of privacy for women and girls in Nepal that could save their lives.

Reason we still need feminism #100000008.

We don’t leave home for date night, I’m guessing we’re not alone

by

Laura Falin

posted in Life

I almost broke my TV last week when a marriage therapist was on. She was giving advice to couples, especially busy parents, and she told them they should go on a date night once a week, have a weekend away once a quarter, and take a couples’ vacation (without kids) once a year.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.

I know she was giving us the best-case scenario. Advice for parents who have grandparents or aunts or uncles or nannies or other sitters on hand. If that is you, stop reading and go get these people lined up. Have your partner cling to their leg as you rev the getaway car and take advantage of that sitter right now. Go. Have fun. That grimace you see on my face is mostly me being happy for you, tinged by only the teensiest bit of jealousy.

This was a fun pre-kid Date Night…

But the rest of us… those of us who don’t have family nearby, and don’t want to ask a friend to watch four children for an entire weekend? We do what works for the season we’re in. For me and my husband, this means feeding the kids breakfast for dinner on Friday nights, putting them to bed, and then either grilling or ordering sushi at 9 p.m. We crack open a bottle of wine in the basement, and eat, and have an entire conversation without being interrupted. We don’t have to pay a sitter. We don’t have to plan too far ahead. We can treat ourselves to a nice steak, or an extra tuna roll without worrying too much because we’re saving on the sitter and other costs. It’s what we can do right now.

This was actually our anniversary dinner

It took me a long time to realize this was okay. Everyone from our pastor to our friends to every expert I saw or read kept saying we needed a date night. The funny thing was, none of them offered to watch the kids. And instead of inspiring me, it made me feel guilty. Were my husband and I headed for trouble if we didn’t go out once a week? And overnights? We’ve been away for two weekends together in the last fifteen years. When your family lives out of state, that kind of thing requires a lot of planning.

I’m sure it’s good advice and I’m sure every marriage could benefit from a regular date night. It’s just that not everyone can manage one.

So what do you do instead? You do what you can. Know that this stage won’t last forever. We’re actually on the verge of freedom — our oldest is at an age where we can head out for an occasional date night now. It does happen eventually, and our late Friday night basement dinners were a good bridge to get us to this point.

So if you’re around next Friday night, let’s all raise a glass – to doing what works for this season of life we’re in.

Do you and your partner have regular date nights?

Keeping It Well in Austin: The City Will Now Mandate Paid Sick Leave

Looks like in addition to keeping it weird, Austin is trying to keep it well.

At least that’s what the Austin City Council is attempting to do by being the first city in the southern United States to pass a law requiring private businesses to offer paid sick leave.

Beginning Oct. 1, 2018, employers with more than five employees must offer workers one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. Employers with five or fewer employees will be subject to the same law, but it will not go into effect until Oct. 1, 2020.

To help protect employers, the law also includes caps on the amount of leave workers can earn: 64 hours for companies with more than 15 employees and 48 hours for companies with 15 or fewer employees.

Austin joins other cities like Minneapolis, New York City, Chicago and Washington D.C. and eight states — Arizona, Connecticut, California, Massachusetts, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington — that guarantee paid sick leave.

But as the only city in Texas to pass this policy so far, Austin could face the same fate as Milwaukee, which passed a city-level law in 2008 only to have a state law prohibiting mandated paid sick leave override the ordinance. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker argued the city’s paid sick leave policy was a barrier to creating jobs.

The benefits of having a sick day are not limited to the health benefits of, you know, getting well. It also decreases the spread of germs to co-workers — helpful considering the particularly awful flu season we’ve enjoyed this year — and could be essential to workers living paycheck to paycheck.

So to the rest of the South, wash your hands and try to stay well, y’all.

When winter weather strikes, it can be tempting to rush right back into the warm house after running errands and put off unloading the car. But while you’re thawing out indoors, groceries and other purchases left in your cold car could be in danger of irreparable damage, or they might be doing damage to the interior of your car. How to Leave an Empty House: 5 Must-Dos Before Your Vacation

Ah, vacation. You’ve hoarded spare change to pay for that Airbnb, strategically used your points to book the flight and scoured local websites for gourmet eats on a budget.

Now is not the time to blow your budget. By following these pre-vacation tips, you can save money before you leave and enjoy your trip without a financial worry.

1. Adjust your Thermostat — But Not Too Much

Adjust Your Thermostat Before You Leave For Vacation

Kristy Gaunt / The Penny Hoarder

Why heat or cool your home when you’re not there to enjoy it? You can save big energy dollars by adjusting your thermostat a few degrees before you leave, according to Duke Energy spokesperson Ana Gibbs.

“A few degrees cooler, a few degrees warmer can have a significant impact. And adjusting your thermostat by 3 degrees every day can save you 30%,” Gibbs says. She notes that if you have a programmable unit, it’s as easy as setting it to vacation mode.

When it comes to your fan, “Auto” is the way to go, especially when you leave for longer trips, Gibbs says, noting that leaving the fan in the “On” position can cost you up to $ 25 per month.

And while you may be tempted to turn off the thermostat entirely in extreme heat or cold, your miserly ways may end up costing you more in the long run.

Leaving electronics to bake in your house can actually decrease battery longevity, and Gibbs notes that in colder weather, turning off a thermostat increases the danger of coming home to frozen pipes. Plus, who wants to return from paradise to a miserably hot or cold home?

2. Stock Up Your Refrigerator

Stock Up Your Fridge Before You Leave For Vacation

Kristy Gaunt / The Penny Hoarder

This one seems a bit counterintuitive — right before you leave, you clear out all the takeout containers so you don’t have a stinky fridge, right? Well, yes, but a fully stocked refrigerator will actually keep your refrigerator running more efficiently, Gibbs says.

“If you don’t normally keep it full, use containers of water and ice cube trays,” suggests Gibbs. The exception to this rule, she adds, is if you’re away for four weeks or longer; in that case, you should empty the fridge and unplug it.

3. Turn Off Your Water

You went on vacation to hit the pool, not to come home to one. Shut off your water at the main supply before you head out the door to avoid the unwelcome surprise of a burst pipe or an overflowing toilet.

But be sure that this money-saving technique doesn’t cause other problems.

“Turning off the main water supply without turning off the electric water heater could cause the heater to ‘dry fire’ and burn out its heating elements if you’re gone for a long time,” says Roto-Rooter Plumbing and Drain Services director of public relations, Paul Abrams,

And if you have a regular tank water heater, you’ll want to turn it off at the breaker; if you don’t, it will keep heating and reheating the water in the tank, Abrams says.

Feeling wary about shutting off the water entirely? Consider turning off the water valve leading to your washing machine. “Doing so reduces the chance that your home will flood due to a burst washing machine hose — the single greatest cause of accidental home flooding,” Abrams says.

4. Stop Vampires

Unplug Your Electronics Before You Leave For Vacation

Kristy Gaunt / The Penny Hoarder

You need neither garlic nor sharp stakes to ward off the vampires that want to suck your energy.

Vampires are those electronic devices that continue to use energy — and money — even when they’re in the off position, explains Gibbs. Vampires include TVs, DVD players, game consoles, coffee makers and even rechargeable toothbrushes.

Is it a bit of a hassle unplugging everything? Sure.

“But if you’re going away for a few days, it’s worth the trouble,” Gibbs says.

5. Don’t Advertise to Thieves

Nothing ruins a vacation like returning home to find it ransacked. Besides the basics — lock your doors and windows before you leave — consider the signs of absence that could make your place inviting to thieves.

Your Amazon Prime deliveries and regular mail piling up on your front stoop scream, “I’m not home,” so hold your mail delivery through the US Postal Service or ask a friend to pick up packages.

Going away for a longer trip? Get that lived-in look by searching for a house sitter via an online service like HouseSitter.com.

Vacations are supposed to be about relaxing and recharging your senses so you can return refreshed to your workaday life. By planning ahead and sticking to a few savvy suggestions before you head out the door, you can enjoy your down time with less stress — and with enough money leftover so you can start planning that next trip.

This is a life-threatening situation.” The storm was downgraded to a Category 3 hurricane early Saturday as it raked northern Cuba, but meteorologists expect it to restrengthen before it hits the Florida Keys on Sunday morning. Leave It to Beaver Actor Jerry Mathers Lost 55 Pounds After Getting a Terrifying Health Diagnosis

Jerry Mathers owned a successful catering business in Hollywood in 1997 when he received a devastating diagnosis from his doctor.

Mathers, 69, told Fox News doctors told him he only had three to five years to live if he didn’t manage his Type 2 diabetes.

“I was living the good life,” he said. “I had side businesses and one of them was a catering business. And I was doing a lot of motion picture and television catering for crews, which is for about 100-200 people. It’s like setting up a whole restaurant.”

The Leave It to Beaver actor was eating five to six full meals a day while mingling among those working on sets.

“I was around food all the time and I was a very good cook,” he explained. “I was making a lot of money, everything was going great, and everyone around me was at least as fat as I was.”

In addition to being diabetic, Mathers was diagnosed with high blood pressure and bad cholesterol. He began working out and lost 55 pounds after selling his catering company.

“I’ve been controlling my weight with diet and exercise ever since,” he said. “I walk every day about 6-8 miles. And I am now pre-diabetic because of that… dying from diabetes is a terrible way to go. It’s a really horrible death. It basically burns different parts of your body.”

Mathers said it’s still difficult to maintain control and portion his food intake when he goes out to eat. Despite temptations, he is taking it one day at a time.

“It’s really tough,” he said. “But I think, ‘I can have this, but do I want to run further to get the weight off? Could I even get it off?’ It’s a daily struggle. I’m not cured. This is something I have to deal with all the time. And I’m hoping that by going out to educate people on diabetes, I can save my fans.”

Vanessa Bayer To Leave ‘Saturday Night Live’ After 7 Seasons

Say goodbye to Jacob the Bar Mitzvah Boy.

Vanessa Bayer, currently the longest-serving female cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” is reportedly leaving the show, Deadline first reported Saturday, and other outlets later confirmed. HuffPost has reached out to the comedian’s representatives for comment.

Maks Chmerkovskiy Says ‘Belligerent’ Former Owner’s 2 A.M. Intrusion Made Him Scared to Leave His Fiancee and Son at Home

Maksim Chmerkovskiy is detailing the eventful night that he endured after an intruder attempted to break into his family’s Los Angeles home.

Early Tuesday morning, officers responded to the 1500 block of Sunset Plaza Drive between 1:30 and 2 a.m. for a “civil dispute.”

Chmerkovskiy’s Dancing with the Stars partner, Heather Morris, initially broke the news during a Tuesday appearance on Good Morning America, revealing that Chmerkovskiy could not do the interview with her because of the alleged incident. “They had some sort of run-in with some man near their house trying to break in, but the police were there,” Morris, 30, said. “They took care of it. So they’re safe and Peta’s okay. That’s the most important thing.”

At the time of the incident, Chmerkovskiy’s fiancée Peta Murgatroyd and son, Shai Aleksander, were also home.

“Early this morning, there was a trespasser who attempted to break into our home,” Chmerkovskiy, 37, told PEOPLE. “The LAPD responded and my family and I are all okay.”

In an interview with Maria Menounos on Tuesday, the DWTS pro explained exactly what happened when he woke up to “full-out knocking” at his Hollywood home.

“That was some bulls—. I cannot believe this. Literally, in the last couple of months, it’s just been so much stuff that’s never happened to me before that happened. It’s just a pile of stuff. Yesterday, you know how it is, you get eliminated, you gotta fly to . This was so shocking to Heather and I that she wasn’t ready. I would have done whatever I needed to do, but because we both have kids now, it’s kind of like, okay, hold on a second, let’s figure this out. So GMA was kind enough to let us not have to fly, but we do the satellite interview at like 4 in the morning,” Chmerkovskiy explained to Menounos.

“So at like 2:20 a.m., I wake up to full-out knocking. I come down, there’s cops and they’re like ‘There’s a dude outside that’s claiming this is his house.’ I’m like, ‘Wait, what?’ It was pretty wild. But I guess it’s an ongoing thing with the ex-owner of this house who, by the way, talk about Hollyweird, used to be some rock singer, or rockband frontman or something,” said the DWTS pro.

According to Chmerkovskiy, he showed his renter’s agreement to prove that he rented the residence and also asked to see the two men — who he claims were “belligerent drunk” — in case they showed up in the neighborhood again.

“It was just funny to me, the whole thing,” said Chmerkovskiy. “It was at 2:30 in the morning — I couldn’t understand what’s happening and then I had to get in the car and drive to do the satellite, so I called Heather. I was like, ‘Babe, I’m sorry, I just can’t really. I don’t know how to leave the house.’ It’s my mom, Peta, our nurse and the baby. It’s like three chicks, half a human and me. This is a fun household.”

Despite the early morning incident that woke up the DTWS pro after a shocking elimination the night prior, he admittedly feels sorry for the intruder.

“The house is great,” said the new dad, who added, “I feel bad the dude lost it a long time ago in like unpaid bills or something like that.”

Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.

Michelle Obama Tells Vogue ‘It’s Time’ To Leave The White House

First Lady Michelle Obama’s days in the White House are numbered, and she’s savoring every last moment as she prepares to say goodbye.

“Looking out on the South Lawn and the Washington Monument and it had just rained and the grass was really green and everything popped a little bit more,” she told writer Jonathan Van Meter for Vogue’s December cover story. “It’s soooo beautiful. And for that moment I thought, I’m going to miss waking up to this, having access to this anytime I want.”

Yet she’s ready for the next step, she said.

“On the flip side . . . it’s time. I think our democracy has it exactly right: two terms, eight years. It’s enough. Because it’s important to have one foot in reality when you have access to this kind of power. The nature of living in the White House is isolating. And I think Barack and I—because we’re kind of stubborn—we’ve maintained some normalcy, mostly because of the age of our kids. I go out to dinner with my girlfriends; I go to Sasha’s games; Barack has coached a little basketball with Sasha’s team. But at the same time, when you can’t walk into CVS?”

And while she admits that she doesn’t know what that step will be, she vows to continue fighting on behalf of the issues she cares about.

“I will always be engaged in some way in public service and public life,” she said. “I’ve always felt very alive using my gifts and talents to help other people. I sleep better at night. I’m happier.”

Van Meter spent a month by the first lady’s side, accompanying her to various engagements and speaking to her staffers.

He shows just how revolutionary her tenure has been. She took a “job with no salary, a platform with no power” and loaded it with significance and purpose, he wrote.

“Everything we do is by choice,” she said. “I could have spent eight years doing anything, and at some level, it would have been fine. I could have focused on flowers. I could have focused on decor. I could have focused on entertainment. Because any First Lady, rightfully, gets to define her role. There’s no legislative authority; you’re not elected. And that’s a wonderful gift of freedom.”

She is the perfect mix of substance and insouciance, Van Meter argued.

He highlights her accomplishments in the last eight years ― like Reach Higher and Let Girls Learn, two education initiatives ― as well as her impeccable style and penchant for SoulCycle and carpool karaoke with late-night host James Corden.

Particularly remarkable has been her choice to spend so much time learning from young people.

“It makes us want to live right and do right and be right—Every. Single. Day—so that we don’t ever disappoint these kids and they have something to hold on to, and so that they know—as I say all the time—I can do this. You can do this,” she said.

People of LA, Please Leave!

I moved to LA, or “The Dream Factory,” as I call it, fifteen years ago. Glad I did. Many of my dreams really have come true, like writing for television and performing my standup act on TV. That said, LA is a hard place to live. It’s expensive, rents are insane and only billionaires can afford to own a home. LA is also crowded and parking is always a pain and the traffic is truly horrific. Only in LA, can a driver get told to go do unnatural things to himself in so many forms of broken English. The constant traffic snarl just beats you down.

It occurred to me once while sitting in inert traffic on the Hollywood Freeway, “Why do regular people live in LA?” I mean, if you are out here to act or write or be in reality shows or hardcore porn, fine. But why would a teacher or a nurse or an assistant manager at a restaurant want to live in LA? It’s the worst deal in America! It’s like people are thinking, “Hey, where could I sleep on a futon and have roommates, into my forties?… I know, LA!… and I can clog up traffic on the 405 and prevent Phil Perrier from getting to his audition on time!”

So now when I’m driving I’m looking at these people and seething. I feel like saying “Hey, you, yeah you, in the Lexus, texting while you drive, did you know that in Phoenix waitresses own houses?”

But I don’t say that, because the person probably doesn’t speak English. And who the hell am I to interrupt her texting?

If anyone is reading this who has never been out of LA, listen, the rest of the country is MUCH CHEAPER! Really. Gas is like a nickel in Oklahoma. And you can buy a house in Detroit for whatever change you have on you. I’m not kidding. I lived in Athens Georgia before I moved to LA and my rent was less than three hundred a month. You can’t rent a cardboard box in LA for less than a grand a month. And there was no traffic, accept on game day, and parking was never a problem and the earth never shook. But hey, I love LA. Or at least, the San Fernando Valley. I avoid downtown LA the way some people avoid penniless relatives. In fact, if anyone wants to meet with me more than a mile from my house, I get a sad look on my face and say, “Maybe some other time.”

But my point in all this is, if you are reading this and you live in LA, and you are not here pursuing one of the above mentioned dreams, (acting, singing, dancing, writing, porn etc.) then please, leave as soon as humanly possible. Just pack up all your stuff, load it into your twelve year old minivan and move to Las Vegas, or Houston or Denver or San Diego or wherever the hell I’m not. Really, you’ll be glad you did. Everything will be cheaper and easier and the people will be friendly and not completely full of shoot. And everyone won’t be into runes and crystals and all sorts of post hippy, New Agey, California horse shoot.

But I digress. Bottom line, I’m not leaving this town until they pry it from my cold dead fingers. But all you others, please go.

Kathy Griffin’s Naked ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Will Leave You Speechless

Not that comedians are supposed to lend dignity to the ice bucket challenge — but ahem.

Former “My Life On The D-List” subject Kathy Griffin went nude for her stunt to benefit research for the ALS Association.

While she’s no stranger to partially undressing on television, this time she spared viewers of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” nothing, even spreading her legs at one point.

You do you, Kathy. You do you.

This is the one time we’re thinking the censorship on “Kimmel” was totally necessary.
