CNN Host Alisyn Camerota to Dana Loesch: ‘How Dare You’ Say Media ‘Love Mass Shootings’

via YouTube

It’s one thing to say something like, “Many in legacy media love mass shootings” within the confines of CPAC, as NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch did on Thursday. It’s another to say it directly to a CNN host.

“I’m not saying you love the tragedy, but you love the ratings,” Loesch added in her CPAC address. “Crying white mothers are ratings gold.”

After thanking Loesch for attending CNN’s town hall earlier in the week, New Day host Alisyn Camerota gave her a withering look and asked, “Why would you make a statement like that?”

Love Contracts: How to Handle Romance in the Workplace

Intimate relationships between coworkers are a common occurrence at any workplace. In one 2017 survey, 57% of respondents said that they have participated in an office romance, so it’s no surprise that employers would want to make sure that the office status quo is  maintained. One way of doing so is to implement what’s known as a love contract—a relatively new type of document that records a consensual and voluntary relationship between two employees.

This post takes you through what a love contract means for both the employees and employer, and how it can protect both from any future problems.

What is a Love Contract?

A love contract is essentially the employer’s acknowledgement that they recognize that certain employees are engaged in an intimate relationship with each other and that their relationship is consensual.

The agreement usually includes a reminder for the employees about who to turn to for help should sexual harassment or conflict of interest become an issue.

In other words, the aim of the love contract is to help protect both the employer and employees from litigation caused by sexual harassment.

When the couple signs a love contract, it’s giving peace of mind to the employer that the employees in the relationship understand the company’s policies and that if the relationship ends, the employees can end it without fear that leaving will affect their career or work environment.

It should be noted that companies in the United States are required to have policies on sexual harassment and conflict of interest in the workplace—which can be outlined in an Employment Contract.

When an employee is hired the employer should provide information on how to access any and all policies on harassment, workplace relationships, and conflicts of interest so that the employee can review them.

What is Included in a Love Contract?

Since the goal of a love contract is to make sure both the employer and employees involved in the workplace relationship understand the relevant company policies, a love contract generally includes terms like:

  • Confirmation that the relationship is voluntary and consensual. A line stating that the relationship between the two employees is voluntary and consensual.
  • Review of anti-discrimination and anti-sexual harassment policies. The contract should include information on the company’s sexual harassment and discrimination policies, as well as information about who to contact for help.
  • Information on inappropriate conduct policies. A policy covering inappropriate conduct might address the expectation that the relationship won’t affect others or the work itself, specifics on public displays of affection, assurances on professionalism (such as reminding the parties to address each other by name, and not a nickname or pet name).

Problems with a Love Contract

It’s all well and good to assume that getting employees to sign a love contract will solve any potential problems at work, but it’s not that simple.

Just because the employees signed a love contract doesn’t necessarily mean that the company or the employees are completely protected against litigation. There are many other factors that may come into play, such as if one of the employees were to claim that they were coerced into signing the contract.

Employees may also have good reason to try to keep their relationship secret. For example, a same-sex couple may not want to disclose their relationship for fear of scrutiny from their company or other employees.

Despite these shortcomings, if a love contract is presented in good faith, it’s never a bad idea to consider signing one just to show your company that you are willing to cooperate with their policies.

Do I Have to Sign My Employer’s Love Contract?

An employer can’t force an employee to sign a love contract, but the employee should be cautious about potentially jeopardizing their job if they don’t, especially if their job terms are under employment at will.

Although it might seem like an intrusion on your personal business, having written documentation of your relationship isn’t necessarily a bad thing for both you and your employer as it can protect both of you from potential issues in the future.

As an example, if your relationship ends on a sour note and your former partner files a sexual harassment claim against you or your company, the love contract could serve as documentation that the relationship was consensual at the time.

Keep in mind, you are not waiving your rights regarding harassment or providing concrete proof that just because you were in a relationship you were not sexually harassed, the love contract is documentation showing your company has done their due diligence in recognizing your relationship and how it may affect the workplace, if at all.

Workplace Romance

If employees develop an intimate relationship that stemmed from working together, it doesn’t mean that there will be an issue affecting the work environment or performance.

A love contract provides the opportunity for the couple to be transparent about their relationship (rather than hiding it while at work). It also helps employers to protect their employees and remind them of any workplace policies that may affect them.

Would you sign a love contract? Let us know in the comments!

Today would have been Kurt Cobain’s 51st birthday, and Courtney Love shared an emotional tribute

Early on Tuesday, February 20th, Courtney Love shared an emotional tribute to Kurt Cobain on her Instagram and Twitter accounts. The musician was best known for his work with Nirvana, and passed away in 1994 at the age of 27. February 20th would have been Kurt Cobain’s 51st birthday.

Love shared a short, sweet, and heartbreaking message to her late husband on social media.

She posted an intimate black and white photograph of the two cuddling, sometime in the early ’90s. “Happy birthday, baby,” Love captioned it, “God, I miss you.” It’s not clear when exactly the photo was taken, or by whom, or what they were doing at the time. But just from looking at it, you can tell it’s an authentic, honest portrait of a couple in love.

The two were married from 1992-1994, and shared a deep connection.

Cobain even helped produce an album with Love’s band, Hole. They lived together, attended events together, and shared daughter Frances Bean Cobain, whom the Nirvana frontman absolutely adored. Frances Bean, now 25, posted her own tribute to her late father on Instagram. “I hope they don’t have the internet wherever you are; I feel like that would be counterproductive,” she wrote, “Regardless, Happy Birthday to an angel.”

Frances Bean was just a toddler when her father passed, and every photo of the two of them together is more heartwarming than the last. Whether they were playing with kittens together, just hanging out, or on the red carpet together, the father-daughter duo was an early ’90s inspiration.

After the Nirvana frontman passed away, Love did not remarry; and she’s been using the name Courtney Love Cobain for some time. Frances, who works as an artist and model, is now divorced from Isaiah Silva, and recently celebrated two years of sobriety.

Our thoughts are with Courtney and Frances on this emotional day.

‘Vanderpump Rules’ Recap: James Confesses Love For Lala, Slams Boyfriend

James Kennedy made no secret of his feelings toward Lala Kent’s relationship to producer Randall Emmett on the Monday, February 19, episode of Vanderpump Rules. The 26-year-old DJ repeatedly slammed the beauty entrepreneur’s relationship while on a boozy group trip to Rob Valletta’s lake house in Big Bear, California.

Lala made a point to corner James’ girlfriend, Raquel Leviss, while on the trip, telling her, “James just said something about my man. Normally if somebody else said that, we would have a lot of problems.” She then added, “You’ve gotta keep him in check.”

James Body Shames Randall Emmett, Calls Him ‘Big Fat Rolls Royce’

James justified his continual bashing of the two year relationship in a testimonial saying, “The only time she talks about him to me is when she’s complaining.” James clarified his remarks to his girlfriend raquel saying, “I throw things in her face that she knows are true. I call him ‘Big fat man,’ ‘Big fat Rolls Royce.’”

James continued slamming her relationship with 46-year-old Randall saying. “Lala’s walking around thinking she’s better than other people. You can’t blame her because with her boyfriend comes the high life, but without it the Range Rover’s not there, the Chanel’s not there, and the private jet’s not there,”he said. With friends like James, who needs enemies?

James and Lala, who’ve admitted to sleeping with each other in the past, sat down to discuss his behavior. Lala wept openly while pleading for James to stop “coming for” her. James then honestly admitted, “I have a negative view on that man because he put the one that I love in jeopardy.” He then dropped a bombshell, saying, “I’ve loved you.” Lala later told the cameras, “James thinks that he’s losing me to my relationship, but it’s OK for him to have a girlfriend and it’s OK for me to have a boyfriend.”

The episode ended without James offering any form of apology to Lala.

Vanderpump Rules airs on Bravo Mondays at 9 p.m. ET.

Ireland’s border country: walking the line and in love with the landscape

Since the Brexit referendum, the Irish border has again become a source of tension but on the ground it remains a fascinating wilderness of low mountains and fantastic hiking country

Today I’m hiking from Thur Mountain to the Cavan Burren along lanes and among prehistoric relics. This is north-west Ireland, not far from the sea but far enough for me to call it midlands. My route goes from Co Leitrim into Co Cavan, staying close to the border with Northern Ireland. For so long associated with violence and up against the appeal of the west coast, Ireland’s borderland has been ignored by travellers. Yet its history is fascinating and there are many beautiful stretches. Word is starting to get out, but this still feels like Ireland’s undiscovered region.

I spent last night in a B&B in Glenfarne, a thinly spread community of farms and homes. Clancy’s (doubles from €89 B&B, walking packages available) appears to be the area’s heart, a string of businesses along the roadside, under one roof. It’s a B&B, a cafe, a shop and a post office.

Video: Stillbirth and Surfing – A Love Story

The short film Stillbirth and Surfing is one of the purest love stories depicted in a 10-minute Vimeo film. It shares a story of a family, specifically a father who is faced by a parent’s biggest fear..the death of their child.

Many world-renowned writers have tried to put into words this feeling: Mark Twain said that there aren’t enough words in all the languages in the world to express the sorrow of losing a child.

“To lose a child … was something that could end one’s world. One could never get back to how it was before. The stars went out. The moon disappeared. The birds became silent.” – Alexander McCall Smith

Alexander McCall Smith began shaping to use his hands and give back to the ocean that gave him a sense of purpose during this dark time. ‘Florence’ Is the Love Story You Play

Florence is falling in love through game mechanics.

From the designer of Monument Valley, this charming love story sees protagonist Florence is navigating young adult life as romance finds her when she least expects it.

Parts of this tale as you scroll past comic strips, but in truth it’s the polar opposite to a visual novel. Nor is it anything like the usual gaming fare of story tidbits punctuating stretches of gameplay.

Florence tells its story through the actual interactive dimension. Flirty finger flicks capture those exciting early stages of a relationship, while simple swipes can puzzle out how to talk to your partner meaningfully.

These are mundane to begin with — by design — to represent the mundanity of a lonely nine-to-five. That’s before you become a little to distracted by a cute Cello player while riding your bike. Physics triumphs over chemistry, crushing leads to crashing, and Florence falls quite literally head over heels.

After actually meeting your new bae, named Krish, talking to him is a minor puzzle. Chat bubbles need to be filled with jigsaw pieces. These become easier and easier puzzles to complete, as conversation starts to flow without effort.

Florence and Krish with chat bubbles

Were these words to become more pointed, so too would the puzzle pieces. In more heated exchanges, taking turns to speak is abandoned. Krish will put together his puzzle pieces at a calculated, beatable speed. It creates the desire to put your own speech bubbles out first, brilliantly representing the desire to talk over one’s partner.

Fitting both Florence’s and Krish’s personal items onto a shelf is, of course, impossible without compromise. This and other microgames, from flirting to faithful feeling, take us through the full gamut of love.

This is the loftiest of game design goals; to capture an idea through pure interactivity. It’s doing over watching. Play, don’t tell.

Of course, there will always be some sort of aesthetics. Even The Marriage, Rod Humble’s famous experiment in trying to tell a story, create emotion, and get across a concept through pure interactivity, had to have some shapes and colours to communicate the mechanics.

Florence and Krish at dinner

Mind you, Florence doesn’t commit to this idea as wholeheartedly as The Marriage. It uses lovely original music to set the mood, and there is the occasional scene with some actual dialogue. But its stretches of silence say more than most love stories ever manage.

Similar to how it’d be wrong to spoil any major plot points, it’d be wrong here to disclose every interplay between gameplay and feeling. This is the crux of the game, inseparable from its story.

It’s certainly not unusual for story and gameplay to compliment one another in a game, but rarely are they one and the same.

Florence is short and sweet — with emphasis on “sweet.” Its playtime may be short, but it’ll stay with you long afterwards. Love in less than an hour. You can grab it on iOS.

How to Talk Finances When You Want Your Love (and Money) to Last Forever

Our first money talk started with pad thai.

I was on a first dining date — our actual first date was playing shuffleboard — with a new guy named Ian. When the check came, I instinctively pulled out my wallet and offered to split it. He chased away my offer with his Visa.

I felt slightly embarrassed for my reverse chivalry. It’d just been my modus operandi for years with friends and past boyfriends. Had I overstepped a money boundary on one of our first dates?

Back in the car, Ian admitted he thought the opposite. In fact, he liked my lack of expectations.

Turns out, his ex was all about money — his money — and my simple gesture became a catalyst for future conversations about our finances.

That was 2015, and it was only the beginning. Ian proposed to me last Christmas, and I said “yes.”

Now we’re having even bigger talks about our finances and future while also planning a wedding and honeymoon. We even signed up for our first joint credit card and are warming up to the idea of shared bank accounts.

5 Money Talks That Made Us Financially In Sync

Female and male walking holding hands

Stephanie and Ian find that simple gestures go a long way in communicating with each other, especially when it comes to their finances. Carmen Mandato/The Penny Hoarder

In the beginning, I wasn’t used to talking so squarely about money. To me, money talks always wore kid gloves and bore a “no trespassing” sign. My instinct was to tread lightly. Funny how that instinct got turned on its complicated head with one card flip.

Here are a few of the money talks we’ve had since the pad thai incident.

Are You a Spender or a Saver?

We didn’t talk money much during our first six months of dating, but one thing was obvious: He was a saver, and I was a spender.

I learned his mom used to be an accountant, which made him predisposed to saving. Meanwhile, I haven’t always been the best with money. It’s taken a lot of sacrifice, commitment and wading through debt to teach myself good financial habits. Even still, I struggle.

Our spending habits came up gradually when I gleefully exclaimed that I’d paid off a credit card, or by way of a package on my doorstep from a splurge at Shein or Amazon. Surprisingly, Ian didn’t scold or guilt me for spending. In fact, he agreed you have to treat yourself sometimes, or that splurge could turn into a spree.

His uncritical attitude made me feel more relaxed and less guarded about my spending habits.

The Dreaded Salary Talk

Eventually, my splurging and his saving gave way to conversations about how we manage our finances… and how much we make.

We’d dated for over six months and built enough rapport to divulge in these sorts of money talks. Sure discussing salaries can be awkward, but the timing felt right.

Sidenote: If your partner makes six figures, try not to let your jaw drop or use the info to make them always pick up the tab. And if your partner makes a low wage, be understanding and create a safe, loving space for them.

How Do You Manage Your Money?

I’d always paid my credit card when the due date came. Ian, on the other hand, made weekly $ 20-$ 40 payments that often added up to more than the minimum due.

“Duh, why hadn’t I thought of that?” I thought. I quickly changed the way I paid off my debt and felt grateful we were talking seriously and constructively.

Within a year of dating, I took out a personal loan to pay off some debt. I told Ian about it, but I didn’t ask for his input. These were my finances. He was encouraging about it and admired my financial initiative.

Are We Really Ready to Move in Together?

Knowing each other’s salaries really helped when we made travel plans — and when we toyed with the idea of moving in together.

Many of our friends had moved in with their significant others within a year of dating out of convenience and financial circumstances.

We embraced our independence but enjoyed entertaining the idea from a safe distance. When the topic of our friends’ follies came up, we used it as fodder to hypothesize about what we would do in that situation, including how we might split bills.

That speculation spurred more talks about the big “d” word: debt. Let’s just say it’s definitely easier to talk about how much you make than how much you owe.

He’d known about my loan, but not everything. I knew he had student loan debt, but not everything. It was clear that before moving in together, we needed to talk about everything.

And we did just that. Being better informed about each other’s finances helped us better determine what we could afford.

How Will We Split the Bills?

By the time we finally moved in together after two years of dating, we’d already established a divide-and-conquer strategy toward bills. The internet, HBO and the Ashley Furniture credit card are now in my name, while electric, water and the Lowe’s store card are in his name.

We even entertained the idea of a cleaning service, which forced us to sit down and discuss the pros and cons from money to time management. We decided that $ 20 each a week was worth it for both of us.

When it comes to going out, I still offer to pay sometimes — and guess what, he lets me. He finds it attractive, but he does pay for me way more than I do for him. Generally, I handle the cheapies, and he gets the fancies. Partnership.

Money Talks to Come: Lessons From a 31-Year Marriage

Male and female sitting in a booth

Ron and Leslie Christon have been married for 31 years, and talking about finances is a big part of their partnership. Carmen Mandato/The Penny Hoarder

I feel pretty confident about our progress so far, although, realistically, we still have a lifetime of complex money talks ahead of us. We have yet to buy a house, say “I do” to the other’s debt, or bring kids into the equation.

I reached out to Leslie Christon, my first boss out of college, for some help navigating our uncharted financial territory.

She and her husband, Ron, probably have more financial coolness than any couple I’ve known. In 31 years of marriage, they’ve lived in four states, owned four homes, had a son and worked 10 jobs between them. They recently opened a restaurant, Chica’s Taco Bar, in Clearwater, Florida. And they’re still married. Can I get a “cheers” for that?

When they met, Leslie already had a house and two cars: her sports car and a work vehicle.

“I think Ron appreciated my independence,” she said. “He didn’t have to carry the burden alone.”

They didn’t need each other financially. Instead, they chose to be with each other. That created a solid foundation, allowing them to build trust and pool their resources.

So that was some validation that Ian and I might just have this whole money thing right… Might. Here are some other pointers Leslie gave me about financial communication.

Tell Your Partner What You Want Your Future to Look Like

Leslie said she and Ron couldn’t have made things work without some core values that make every endeavor easier.

“When you realize there is a permanence in your relationship and you’re going to move forward together — whether it’s living together, getting married or having kids — you commit not just emotionally, but you commit financially, honesty and truthfulness,” she said.

She and Ron both wanted kids, so they discussed everything from medical expenses to a college fund. They even started a general savings plan for their son after he was born and used it to teach him the value of saving money by matching every dollar he put into it.

Divulging their hopes and dreams helped them avoid many conflicts and roadblocks because each knew the other’s intentions and expectations every step of the way.

Money talks

Leslie and Ron take a moment together in a booth at their restaurant before the lunch rush begins. Carmen Mandato/The Penny Hoarder

Don’t Forget to cc Your Spouse

One of Leslie and Ron’s greatest successes came by accident.

Due to conflicts with work schedules, they swapped who was responsible for paying bills. The switch gave each one perspective on how much money was coming in and going out. They now alternate the role of bill payer every couple years as a best practice.

Knowing each other’s passwords and security questions facilitates this practice. Not to mention, there’s never any worry about a secret credit card or savings account.

This is good because, according to Go Banking Rates, being secretive about finances is the No.1 financial deal breaker for couples in the U.S.

But it’s not always peaches and cream.

“We have our spats like any couple,” Leslie said.

She admits those usually happen when she goes shopping or makes a big purchase without telling Ron — even if it’s for a vacation or a present for him.

(Note to Ian: I would never be mad if you bought me a vacation.)

Show Your Support With Talk… and Action

When Leslie began to consider opening a restaurant, she and Ron did heaps of discussing, projecting and planning before making any big moves. They hashed out a budget and factored in every possible expense — all a year before opening Chica’s Taco Bar in late 2017.

And did I mention Ron maintained his career while helping Leslie with the endeavor? Oh, and he also had to agree to rein in spending on non-necessities. Each had the other’s back through the thick stacks and the income trickle.

So far, it’s a success, thanks not only to their well-crafted business plan, but because of their financial forwardness over the years.

“We trust each other implicitly. I trust him financially and he trusts me financially,” Leslie said.

What Our First Money Talk Taught Us

I think back to the pad thai incident and how it shaped our healthy financial discourse.

Ian said that, in retrospect, my attempt to pay told him, “I’m in this with you not just because you’re providing, but because this is a partnership.”

With that, we agreed that the road to our financial future would be a two-way street, and we’d each have to pull our own weight and make it fair.

And we’ve been partners ever since.

man and woman holding hands

Stephanie and Ian found full disclosure brought them closer together more than it pushed them apart.  Carmen Mandato/The Penny Hoarder

Stephanie Bolling is a staff writer at The Penny Hoarder. She plans on solving all her financial fretting by asking Ron and Leslie to adopt her and Ian by proxy. Just kidding. She just wants to fast-forward to the honeymoon.

No Love Lost: Kandi Burruss Shows Love to the New Xscap3 After Name Change

While Kandi Burruss joined Xscape groupmates Tameka “Tiny” Cottle-Harris, La Tocha Scott and Tamika Scott for their comeback tour, the reality star chose to sit-out a reunion album, leaving the threesome to forge ahead without her.

This led some fans to believe there was still bad blood between the southern songstresses, but the current Broadway star had nothing but well wishes for the group that has re-branded themselves as Xscap3.

“I want to send my love to my girls Xscap3 and congratulate them on the moves [they’re] making!” she wrote on Instagram. “I want everybody to know that there is no drama. It is still love with us. I support what they’re doing with the new music & I want y’all to do the same.”

Inspiration LA 2018I love visiting Inspiration, an annual…

Inspiration LA 2018

I love visiting Inspiration, an annual menswear show in Los Angeles headed by the Japanese vintage fiend Rin Tinaka. The show isn’t as big these days as it was at its peak, but it’s still the best spot in LA to find denim fanatics, would-be cowboys, military re-interpreters and others who love the Japanese’s love of just-this-side-of-absurd Americana.

There were more t-shirts at the show than ever before; the vintage concert shirt fad of ten or fifteen years ago has metastisized, and at this point you pretty much have to pay $ 200 for a Fu-Shnickens tee. High-end militaria dealers were in evidence, along with folks like Vintage on Hollywood, who specialize in the best of the best of 1940s and 1950s retro style – Rockabilly and swing-era clothes that are perfect and notably expensive.

It was also nice to see Los Angeles’ independent menswear scene in evidence. Monsivais & Co, who make flat caps in the 1930s style, shared a booth with the hatmaker Cody Wellema. The Japanese-Californian brand Clutchgolf had clothes for a leisurely lifestyle, including some beautiful casual blazers made from old military bags.

I didn’t end up taking home anything besides some Japanese magazines, but I did talk a PTO reader into buying a fantastic Real McCoy’s leather jacket. And I got to hang out with Ryan Cecil Adams, our comics artist, so all in all? A great day.

Check out our past visits to Inspiration LA here – there are some pretty fantastic pretend cowboys.

10 Things That Men Wear That Women Love

You may wonder how I can tell you what women want? Well, unlike Donald Trump, I know it all! Just kidding! In fact, I talked to a bunch of educated successful women and the final list was compiled by my wife and business partner so it’s all from the perspective of a woman.

Don’t be surprised that sweatpants and sports jerseys didn’t make the list because women like men to wear clothes that make them proud to stand by you.

General Style Guidelines To Pay Attention To

Take Pride In Your Outward Appearance

Caring about how you look is very important if you want to make a good first impression. We all subconsciously judge and so do women. As a gentleman, you want to look stylish, appropriately dressed, and overall, just well put together. As such, if you go to a play at a nice theater and the woman is all dressed up, you don’t want to go in jeans but you want to wear something appropriate.

Dress Up

Super casual styles are rarely going to impress women. Of course, this is a general statement and I’m sure you’ll always find the exception but based on our research, this is what we found. Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to wear a three-piece suit or a tuxedo whenever you go out in the evening. At the same time, a collared shirt will always provide you with a more polished look rather than let’s say, a t-shirt.

Embrace Colors & Patterns

You can stand out from the sea of black and gray and charcoal suits or jackets and add a dash of color. That can be in the form of a pocket square, maybe a tie, or maybe even a boutonniere, don’t go overboard. One piece will help and less is definitely more. That being said, I get constantly complimented by women when I wear boutonnieres.

Ideally, you don’t want something that’s super large such as a pink-red carnation, instead, go with something like a light blue delphinium that is small and subtle in color because it shows that you care without being too ostentatious and flashy.

If you believe that you can’t pull off a lapel flower, think about it twice, no matter your age, I’ve talked to men all over the place and as soon as they put a little lapel flower on, no matter what the rest of the outfit looks, it helps to attract women immediately.

Wear Clothes That Fit Well

That means you shouldn’t have super large armholes, excessive fabric in the chest, or super large pants. If you’re in your 40s, 50s, or 60s, that may be a problem because the outfit you had in the 90s was super baggy, so it helps to trim it down.

If you’re in your 20s and 30s, chances are everything is trimmer already. Just make sure it’s not overly tight and it looks neat.

Do Not Always Wear The Same Thing

I know it’s easy, you don’t have to think about it, putting on that same polo shirt day in and day out; it’s not a uniform and dressing can be a way of expressing yourself in an interesting way. If you don’t have a huge wardrobe, that’s no problem.

Look into a capsule wardrobe and just use a few pieces such as accessories to create a different look anytime. That shows women that you take pride in your appearance and that you take care of yourself.

Slimmer fit pants

Know What Looks Good On You

If you’re a bigger guy, wearing super skinny lapels and super tight pants are not going to flatter you. For example, I have a big bum and big thighs so I can’t wear skinny pants because it looks bad on me. If you have an oval face, don’t wear very pointed collars because otherwise, you look like a conehead. Rather get something that’s a little more spread.

On the other hand, if you have a round face, go with a more pointed collar, otherwise, the collar will accentuate the size of your face. The good thing about well-fitting clothes is that they hide your imperfections and highlight the things that look good about you.

Dress Like Yourself

By that, I mean you always have to be comfortable in the clothes you wear because if you’re not, it shows. You won’t have the same confidence, you will look more slouchy, and just the way you present and talk will also be impacted by what you wear and such, it’s important that you know your style and stick with it and that you’re not necessarily always impacted by the latest trends.

That being said, if you’re a casual guy, it always pays to take things a notch up because it shows that you care and women will notice.

10 Items Of Clothing Women Love

Sven Raphael Schneider's first pair of goodyear-welted shoes from 2003

Sven Raphael Schneider’s first pair of Goodyear-welted shoes from 2003

Real Leather Shoes

By that, I mean leather shoes, not cheap ones that are glued but Goodyear welted or blake rapid stitched, maybe in a classic style with a high-quality leather because it will upgrade any outfit. If you wear boots, that’s okay.

You can find nice boots but always try to find shoes and boots that are the upper end of the spectrum that you can afford because it will always reflect well on you. If you wear a  belt, make sure that the color matches the shoes otherwise, it looks very immature.

Semi spread collar on a white dress shirt

Semi-spread collar on a white dress shirt

Collared Dress Shirts

It should be nicely pressed. You can go with lighter colors, maybe a slight pattern, and it doesn’t matter if you wear a jacket or not; just having a dress shirt will always help to make a favorable impression on women. That being said, make sure it fits properly and not like a potato sack. You don’t want any excess fabric but it shouldn’t be too tight so you have X wrinkles in the front.

Shawl Collar Cardigan Sweater

Shawl Collar Cardigan Sweater

Fitted Sweaters

If you have a nice v-shape, a trim sweater just helps you to accentuate that and make your shoulders look broad which is very attractive. It’s just like a well fitting dress on a woman, it just highlights the benefits of the figure and it’s just pretty attractive.

Stand Out Suits

Just having your regular black or charcoal suit won’t cut it anymore. Yes, it’s true, having those basics in the wardrobe are great for business but maybe opt for a sort of pattern like a pinpoint, maybe a houndstooth, or a herringbone, because when you go out, you can do things that are a little more fun such as for a cocktail party. Today, every successful man has a suit and so having something a little more unique helps you stand out from the crowd.

If you don’t have the money to invest in a new suit right now, I suggest upgrading your old one wearing a pocket square. If you’ve never had a pocket square, get a solid white linen one maybe with your monogram. Once you have a white pocket square, I suggest going with something more colorful.  A matching set of tie and pocket square is a no go if you are a stylish man who wants to attract women, at the same time, it just costs a fraction of a new suit so it’s a wonderful investment.

Green Safari Jacket

Green Safari Jacket

Casual Jackets

It doesn’t always have to be a suit jacket or a blazer but instead, maybe a Harrington jacket, or a suede leather jacket, or a linen Safari jacket. These are just things that you can wear when you go out for a walk or pick up groceries but they just make you look dapper without being overdressed. At the same time, these kinds of casual jackets help you to transition between the seasons very easily.

Classic rounded plastic Eyeglass Frame

Classic rounded plastic Eyeglass Frame

Modern Glasses

If you still wear those very thin titanium frames from the 90s, they are so outdated. Go with a classic frame maybe something bolder but a nice shape that is modernized and today, you can find where you can find things for a hundred bucks or you find other makers; it doesn’t cost a fortune anymore to get a nice well fitting pair of glasses.

Be daring, be bold, and you will get noticed for sure. Rather than with a color, try to impress with a frame. Maybe the size and the styling of course; the same is true for sunglasses.

Adding layers is a top tip for tall men

Adding layers is a top tip for tall men

Layers & Combinations

Most women really like to dress and they try to combine patterns and they have different layers. If you, as a man, add maybe a cardigan or a sweater underneath a jacket or just on top of a dress shirt,  it just adds an interesting element, it shows that you care and it makes you more like them and therefore, more attractive.

A selection of fine colognes

A selection of fine colognes

Subtle Colognes

Yes, you can use deodorant and that’s okay, but having some cologne makes it interesting, especially if it’s kind of your character scent because they can immediately tell if you’re around by just walking past you.

At the same time, you don’t want to be that guy who uses a lot of axe or a really strong aftershave that can be smelled from yards away because people will avoid you, they will talk bad about you behind your back but they will never tell you directly to your face and so you may be ousted from social events, simply because your cologne smells cheap or it’s too strong. Smell, in general, is a very powerful sense and it can really make or break the entire experience someone has when they get to know you for the first time.

Bison Leather Weekender

Bison Leather Weekender

Leather Bags

Nothing makes you look like a schoolboy more than wearing a backpack. As a grown man, instead, invest in a nice leather bag, or maybe a satchel, something that suits your style. Maybe something with linen, if you’re a little more casual. Overall, having a bag when you travel, or go to work, really upgrades your outfit and make you look more mature.

Something That She Picked Out For You

If you’re a relationship and you watch this channel, chances are, you’re not the kind of person that is dressed by their partner. At the same time, if you know something that she likes and you wear it maybe on a date night out, it makes her feel special because you thought about her and it just helps to create a really nice experience for both of you.

For example, my wife really likes the double-breasted rope striped suit from Ralph Lauren which was the first expensive suit that I was able to afford. Whenever I wear this suit, it brings back memories of the early days of our relationship and it’s just a very fond feeling and that’s something that you can do with clothes too. I guarantee you if you were her favorite thing, it’ll be a great day.

What other items of clothing do you think makes you more attractive? Feel free to share your thoughts!

Twitter showers Janet Jackson with love as Justin Timberlake returns to Super Bowl

Janet Jackson might’ve confirmed she’s not performing at the Super Bowl tonight, but she’s still managing to upstage Justin Timberlake anyway.

Janet-loving Twitter users rebranded Timberlake’s return to the Super Bowl halftime show as #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay. Who can forget his last trip to the Super Bowl, in 2004, when Timberlake was responsible for Jackson’s infamous “wardrobe malfunction”?

All these posts highlighting Jackson’s talent sure makes you wish the man in the woods would go back there and let Janet take the stage instead.

On this @JanetJackson #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay, let’s set this thing off the right way:

Link Love: How to Wear Brooches in 2018

Last year I had planned to start wearing brooches, but it never happened because I didn’t find any that I absolutely loved. Now that my style moniker has evolved to Casual Urban Glam — and after seeing Katerina’s inspiring brooch thread on the forum — I feel extra motivated to continue the search (I have found one fun one already). I’ve also been looking for inspiration on different ways to wear brooches, and wanted to share what I’ve found with you:

Fab Links from Our Members

Shevia didn’t agree with all of her opinions, but thought this interview with Miuccia Prada was very interesting.

Suzanimal enjoyed Bridgette Raes’ take on how to be unapologetically stylish.

This article about why worldwide demand for used clothes is declining caught Rachylou’s attention.

Recently both New Zealand and overseas owned brands have been forced to shut their doors. Jenni NZ found it interesting that one of the reasons given is decreased brand loyalty as she notes she hasn’t shown much either because there is just so much choice nowadays.

Jaileen wanted to share this NY Times article about how design for disabilities is becoming more stylish and attractive:

“It turns out that one out of five adults in the United States has some disability, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — one out of 20 children. That’s a demographic and economic motivator. But we also know that when people feel better about themselves, medical outcomes improve.”

Amara Strikes Back: 8 Outrageous Moments From Episode 5 of ‘Love & Hip-Hop Miami’

VH1's Hip Hop Honors: The 90's Game Changers - Arrivals

Source: Greg Doherty / Getty

Love and Hip-Hop Miami’s drama is picking up and we get a sense of that immediately as episode 5 starts. We pick right up where last week left off with Shay and Liz confronting Prince and his “friend” Gabriel at the launch of his fashion line.

Things get heated quickly when Shay and Liz ceremoniously throw beverages at Gabrielle and Chinese Kitty. Security quickly comes in and removes Shay and Liz from the room but Chinese Nicky literally snatches  Shay’s wig.

Twitters breakdown of the mini rumble primarily focused on Chinese Nicky’s face and the wig snatching.

Once Shay things calmed down a bit Prince goes to confront Liz and find out why she and her “ratchet ass friend” was there in the first place. He surprised to see that his nemesis Michelle Pooch is there. Prince is still clueless that his ex and his rival are actually best friends in real life while trying to talk to Liz, Pooch comes and remove Liz from the situation.

‘Get Christie Love’ Reboot Is Greenlit By ABC

If you know your classic television, you’ll remember that the late actress Teresa Graves was the star of Get Christie Love! in the 70’s, making her the only African-American woman to lead a network TV drama until Kerry Washington. Though it only ran 23 episodes, the series, where Graves played a police detective,  held a nostalgic place in African-American TV history. Now, Courtney Kemp, the showrunner of the hit Starz TV show Power is bringing it back. The series has now been officially greenlit with Pitch star Kylie Bunbury in the lead role.

Deadline reports :

The new Get Christie Love (no ! in the title), written by Kemp, is an action-packed, music-driven drama that centers on Christie Love (Bunbury), an African-American female CIA agent who leads an elite ops unit. She transforms into whomever she needs to be to get the job done, especially when it’s down to the wire and the stakes are life and death. The high-adrenaline missions of the series are anchored by an emotional mystery about Christie’s first love — unearthing the truth about this relationship will be the biggest mission impossible of her life.

Kemp executive produces via her production company End of Episode, along with Diesel and Waterman through One Race Television and Martin Chase through Martin Chase Productions. This has been a passion project for Kemp, who loved the original because of Christie’s poise, strength and femininity. She started working on a remake before she got Power on Starz where it has become the network’s highest-rated series.

Kemp, who has an overall deal with Starz and sibling Lionsgate TV,  and Universal TV-based Diesel, both repped by CAA, brought the idea of rebooting the title to Uni TV, which owns the rights to it. Under his overall deal at Uni TV, Diesel also executive produces a reboot of Miami Vice for NBC.

More symbolism about the pickup of Get Christie Love! — the reboot of the first hourlong network drama with an African-American actress as the lead is being greenlighted by ABC, which is run by the first black woman appointed broadcast network president, Channing Dungey, and comes from Uni TV, the first major U.S. TV studio headed by a black woman president, Pearlena Igbokwe.

I don’t know about y’all, but anytime I want to check out a new restaurant or go to an event, my first instinct is to read the reviews.

Sure, sometimes online reviews can miss the mark, like this one-star review of Crater Lake National Park that acknowledged that the water was super blue but thought the cafeteria coffee was terrible.

Love Island’s Georgia Harrison cools off in the pool in just her underwear after working up a sweat playing volleyball in Dubai

GEORGIA Harrison has been pictured soaking up the sun as she took a dip in her underwear after working up a sweat playing volleyball.

The Love Island star debuted a dramatic new brunette hairdo while enjoying a break in Dubai.

Georgia took to the water in her matching Calvin Klein workout gear after a gruelling game of volleyball.

Debuting a new brunette hairstyle, Georgia showed off her incredible figure as she posed in the pool.

23-year-old Georgia had earlier been seen clutching a ball while chatting on the phone.

Making the most of the winter sun, Georgia went barefoot as she larked about in Dubai.

In the time since being on this year’s series of Love Island, Georgia has still been on the lookout for love – and briefly appeared to find it with fellow participant Sam Gowland.

However, after just a few weeks of dating, Georgia announced that they had gone their separate ways – even suggesting that Sam had cheated on her during their romance.

Sam has now joined the team of Geordie Shore, and has moved on from Georgia with MTV favourite, Chloe Ferry.

Tiffany Haddish’s Mad Grouponing Skills Will Make You Love Her Even More

Tiffany Haddish was one of the breakout actors of 2017 for her role in the comedy “Girls Trip.” Haddish takes that momentum into 2018 with a new role as a spokesperson. But the company she’s representing may surprise you: It’s deals site Groupon.

Haddish is unabashedly frugal, which we learned when she told Jimmy Kimmel she took fellow stars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith on a swamp tour she found using Groupon. But her experience doesn’t stop with one funny gator-seeking trip. Haddish is a Groupon evangelist.

Groupon will introduce Haddish as spokesperson in a commercial during a certain widely viewed football game that airs soon, aka the Super Bowl. But video clips on the company’s website reveal all the things Haddish has saved on with Groupon: manicures, hair styling, accommodations and meals on international trips. She even found her dentist through Groupon.

Want to Shop and Save Like Tiffany Haddish?

Groupon reports that Haddish is in the top 1% of users, so don’t feel guilty if your glamorous life only includes occasional Groupon savings. Here are a few tips to make the most of all the deals you see on Groupon.

Stay on Point

Think about what you’re trying to save on before browsing Groupon’s offers. If you’re trying to save on haircuts, for example, don’t let yourself drift into the section with concert and amusement park deals.

Narrow Your Location

It doesn’t matter how much you’re going to save on a yoga class if you have to travel an hour each way. Consider your transportation method and convenience when you’re hovering over that “buy” button.

Read the Fine Print

Dining and entertainment offers can come with some tricky restrictions. Look for blackout dates, minimum check requirements or other stipulations that may render the deal impractical. Check the merchant’s website to make sure prices align with what you expect to pay — and save — with Groupon.

Check That Expiration Date

And don’t forget to note the expiration date for any deals you plan to purchase. Every Groupon has an expiration date for the specified promotional pricing, but the amount you paid for the voucher stays valid forever.

Lisa Rowan is a senior writer and producer at The Penny Hoarder who would jump at the chance to go on a vacation with Tiffany Haddish.

You better believe when the cameras are on, Tiffany Haddish is making every joke count. One clip was so funny, it’s now landed her a deal with Groupon.

Back in July of 2017, Tiffany appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and detailed a hilarious outing with Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. They took a Louisiana swamp tour using a Groupon, and Tiffany’s funny retelling of the situation caused the video to go viral.

Eventually, the clip reached the folks over at Groupon and they loved it so much, they offered Tiffany to be their official spokesperson. Her answer? Check out the video below.

In addition to being the face of Groupon, the company also hooked Tiffany up with an employee app and put some extra cash in her account. According to People, a Super Bowl ad starring Tiffany is also scheduled during the fourth quarter of the game.

khloe kardashian going off birth control

By Lara Walsh

From the editors of InStyle US

Hours after melting hearts with his outspoken admiration for pregnant girlfriend Khloé Kardashian’s changing body, Tristan Thompson couldn’t help but pen another love note for the reality star.

Heading back to the comments section of the mum-to-be’s pregnancy reveal post on Instagram, after collecting his thoughts, the basketball star recalled how the couple first met with a sweet message. ‘My love, Thank you for allowing me to be apart [sic] of your journey and entering your life that day at the bel air hotel,’ the Cleveland Cavaliers player gushed.

After thanking fellow basketball star Brandon Jennings for introducing the pair, he continued, ‘I’m soo happy to be on this journey together with you and creating this angel from the man above. Everyday [sic] I give thanks to him for bringing us together.’

The 26-year-old concluded his social media love ode, stating, ‘I love you soo much and I know our little angel feels the love we share together and will know that mommy and daddy loves them unconditional and forever and ever amen.’

My greatest dream realized! We are having a baby! I had been waiting and wondering but God had a plan all along. He knew what He was doing. I simply had to trust in Him and be patient. I still at times can’t believe that our love created life! Tristan, thank you for loving me the way that you do! Thank you for treating me like a Queen! Thank you for making me feel beautiful at all stages! Tristan, most of all, Thank you for making me a MOMMY!!! You have made this experience even more magical than I could have envisioned! I will never forget how wonderful you’ve been to me during this time! Thank you for making me so happy my love! Thank you to everyone for the love and positive vibes! I know we’ve been keeping this quiet but we wanted to enjoy this between our family and close friends as long as we could privately. To enjoy our first precious moments just us ❤️ Thank you all for understanding. I am so thankful, excited, nervous, eager, overjoyed and scared all in one! But it’s the best bundle of feelings I’ve ever felt in my life! ❤️❤️❤️

A post shared by Khloé (@khloekardashian) on

The power forward’s latest message comes after Kardashian lovingly gave a shout-out to her beau in the caption of her black-and-white baby bump photo, which depicted her boyfriend’s hands overlapping with hers while cradling her expectant belly.

‘Tristan, thank you for loving me the way that you do,’ she wrote. ‘Thank you for treating me like a Queen! Thank you for making me feel beautiful at all stages! Tristan, most of all, Thank you for making me a MOMMY!!! You have made this experience even more magical than I could have envisioned! I will never forget how wonderful you’ve been to me during this time! Thank you for making me so happy my love!’

Guys, we love you — but enough with the “man flu”

Becky Vieira

posted in Life

My husband and I have different ideas of what it means to be sick. We have a toddler, so we share germs and often fall ill at the same time. Unless I’m hospitalized, life continues as-is for me. But at the first sign of a runny nose he takes to bed. For days. Come to think of it, I guess things change for me, too. I end up with even more work when I’m sick.

I may have the flu, but my husband gets the “man flu.” The increasingly popular term is used to describe men who exaggerate a mild illness. To them, the common cold is a reason to miss work and not be able to do anything. Also, if they’re fathers, it means they can’t help with kids. Or around the house. And sometimes they even can’t help themselves.

Many men revert to a childlike state when stricken with this illness. They look to their partners to help feed and care for them. Unless their mothers live in the area, in that case they’ll just summon mom.

Yes. It’s really that bad.

Man flu meme

I’m not denying my husband gets sick. That lone sneeze can, and sometimes does, progress into a virus. Sometimes. No one wants to be ill, and when you add a job and kids it amplifies the chaos of the situation. Still, I’m prepared to make a bold statement: Women are better at dealing with sickness. And pain. Men turn a hangnail into an epidemic. I even have (non-scientific) proof.

I polled fellow moms and here are some of their stories:

Jillian Richards was inflicted with a double ear infection and pink eye. She was on her third day home with her also-sick 12-month-old twins, and counting down the hours until her husband came home from work to relieve her. But when he did he announced he was “dying” from an obscure sickness. Richards sent him to bed as she stayed up all night with their twins. When she awoke in the morning her husband was gone. “He didn’t die as he predicted,” she said. “He felt fine and went into work.”

As a doctor, Andrea Moore has diagnosed her husband with the man flu several times. On one occasion he called her at work asking for soup. “He stayed home sick and said he was too weak to make it to the kitchen,” she explained. She delivered soup and cold medicine, skipping her own lunch to run the errand.

Later that evening, as she was picking up their 15-month-old daughter from daycare, he called to say he was heading to a friend’s house to watch a football game. “Six hours earlier he couldn’t walk into the kitchen,” she noted. “But he was miraculously healed by game time.”

wife stands next to husband who is stricken with man flu

My husband’s recent man flu was severe. The poor guy missed work and spent the day in bed. My son and I were also sick, but he was “much worse.” I took our son to his pediatrician’s appointment and cleaned up vomit for most of the day while he slept. After I finally got my son to sleep, my husband emerged from the bedroom cave. “I’m going to the gym,” he told me. “I think it’s best I try and sweat this out before I get any worse.”

It must have worked because only two days later he was able to return to work. Hallelujah!

I’m not the only one investigating this phenomenon. A Canadian doctor recently set out to prove man flu is more than a joke. The research claims men have a “weaker immune response when it comes to common viral respiratory infections and the flu.” Could the excessive whining and misery be authentic, caused because men are more adversely affected by illness? The study says yes and my husband agrees.

I, however, think it’s important to note the study was led by Dr. Kyle Sue. A man. No word on if he’s married and, if so, what his wife thinks of these findings.

For more of my mom journey follow me on Instagram at Witty Otter.

Do you belive the man flu is real? Have you had to care for a man stricken with this terrible illness?

K. Michelle And Loni Love End Their Feud

K. Michelle In Concert - Atlanta, GA

Source: Prince Williams / Getty

It looks like K. Michelle and Loni Love have buried the hatchet.

After the singer was a guest on The Real this week to promote her new album, she posted online a pic of herself and Love all smiles and throwing up Delta Sigma Theta signs of sisterhood.

“Delta Sigma Theta. Black Girl magic. We are better in unity than at odds. Beautiful spirit. Glad we got to really speak,” K. Michelle wrote.

Love posted up the same picture with the following caption: “Sisterhood is not always by blood but by experiences … Thxs @kmichellemusic for being so open and revealing on #thereals4 #deltasigmatheta”

Instagram Photo

This is a 180 from the beef they had earlier this year.

As we previously reported, the drama started when The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee was a guest host on The Real back in April. During Angela‘s run, she briefly talked about that argument she got in with K. Michelle last year on The Breakfast Club.

“My whole thing is this,” Angela said, “If you start talking to me crazy, I’m not engaging in that. I’m just not saying anything.”

And she ended the clip implying K.Michelle probably doesn’t need to expect anymore invites to her radio show, stating, “Just don’t come to the show again. If you have a problem, don’t come.”

Oh, and Love accidentally called K. Michelle, Keyshia Cole.

K. Michelle quickly turned to Twitter to unleash on both women.

“U should shut you heavy neck a** up playing with me @loniloe UR NOT FUNNY.The only thing funny about you in your struggle A** ham hock,” she tweeted.

“And Angela haven’t u had enough d***s in your mouth by now to shut up? I don’t play with media. Im not wrapped to tight. Stay from over here.”

The singer also accused Love of being behind why former co-host Tamar Braxton was fired.

“Im not a show called ‘The Real’ I am the real. Stop playing with me, like u played&got Tamar fired. These are NOT the type problems u want.”

Love replied back, “Come on #thereal and say it girl… now don’t you trot to @WendyWilliams first!!!”

Take a look at the interaction below:

5 Things We Love About ‘Far Cry 5’

This week Ubisoft hosted a gameplay event near their headquarters in San Francisco to show off progress on their newest Far Cry game; Far Cry 5. Due out in March of 2018, Far Cry 5’s locale is perhaps it’s least exotic yet, but the series’ most beautiful.

Taking place in the fictional Hope County in the non-fictional state of Montana, Far Cry 5’s story revolves around a fanatical religious cult, Eden’s Gate. Their doomsday rhetoric and violent tactics overrun the rural and remote Hope County community. With little contact with the outside world, it’s up to you as a sheriff’s deputy to restore Hope County’s lifestyle to before the existence of Eden’s Gate.

I had a couple of hours of single player and co-op to explore the expansive world. The developers gave us access to a huge portion of the map and I by no means had enough time to explore all of it. I tried my best to dip my toes in as many features of the game as possible in the two hours I had. Here are five things that I loved in Far Cry 5.

The World

The most obvious and perhaps least surprising aspect I was most impressed with was the gameplay environment. There is something intangible about the world in the newest Far Cry — it’s the franchise’s most authentic yet.

This could also very well be a biased opinion. While I’ve never visited Montana, I am an American and have visited similar settings in my life. However, the developers clearly spent a lot of time mapping portions of real-world Montana so it could be seamlessly integrated into the game.

While this statement might come off as ridiculous, I immediately felt like I was exploring a real place while playing Far Cry 5.

No Towers

New regions are unlocked through conversations and people. Not random towers.

The developers explained that there are still some “towers” to unlock regions — but most exploration opportunities and knowledge is gained through socializing with NPCs. If you’ve never played a Far Cry game, towers were essentially checkpoints in the open world that acted like prerequisites for exploring a new region. It became a tedious and repetitive feature.

It’s a great change to further immerse the player in the game’s setting. Like previous iterations of Far Cry, being the protagonist entails speaking and acting on behalf of the community. Having a deeper connection with the game’s story and it’s characters is essential in a series like Far Cry. This subtle change has shown fans that they’re being heard and given the franchise a much needed respite from a tired feature.

Animals are Wild

I actually had quite a few jump scares during my short time with the game. “Damn nature u scary” is probably the best way to summarize my encounters with wildlife in Far Cry 5. Bears are fast, always pissed, and surprisingly stealthy. It also doesn’t help the fact that Eden’s Gate has been drugging some of the local wildlife and making them extra angry.

During my co-op playthrough, my partner and I had to explore an underground sewage system that bridged a pond with a larger lake. As we entered, a very upset badger was there to greet my buddy and sadly had to be put down. It was a bittersweet moment that resulted in us trespassing on a badger’s home and having a good laugh about it.

Even visiting some farms proved to be an eventful experience. A dog trying to corral a wayward bull caught my attention. I tried to intervene and help out — but I got the horns and was gored. Interaction with wildlife in Far Cry 5 seems to be a lot more unforgiving than I previously remember, and I love it!

You can pet dogs, too. There are a lot of doggos to pet.

Fully Co-op

Hunt, sabotage, loot, and die together in Far Cry’s first complete co-op mode.

Expanding on the Far Cry 4 feature of allowing friends to team up on certain campaign missions, Far Cry 5 boasts the ability for friends to play the entire campaign together.

It’s a pretty neat feature that can offer BFF’s the ability to experience a robust open world game together. I often find myself talking to my good friends on Steam about what game we should play together. Not everyone is fit for the competitive gaming landscape and sometimes you just wanna have a fun, intimate gaming experience with your mates.

From my brief time with the co-op in Far Cry 5, I liked what I experienced. It was simple, intuitive, and just plain fun to explore, loot, and shoot up Hope County together.

Weapons Galore

Far Cry 5 has the most robust weapon customization to date. Tricking out your assault rifles, shotguns, and other pieces of your arsenal will cost you, but it’s so worth it. The best part is that it didn’t take that much time to gather the appropriate funds to start making your weapons unique.

Besides upgrading your guns, the customizable loadout returns with more options. The prospect of crafting the perfect loadout with my favorite weapons and their attachments is salivating.

Fans of the franchise should expect the newest Far Cry to possess all the necessary components to make this the best Far Cry ever. However, if you were looking forward to the series making some serious changes, you may be disappointed. It still possess many features from its predecessors, such as outposts, guns for hire, and endless amounts of missions.

You can expect to be playing Far Cry 5 on March 27 of 2018.

‘Star Wars’: 20 Leia Quotes That Made Us Fall In Love With Her

Leia Organa Solo, how we’ll miss you.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi marks her last appearance in the Star Wars saga (actress Carrie Fisher finished shooting her scenes before her untimely death last December). She’s had an incredible run, cementing herself as one of the popular and powerful women in sci-fi, if not all of film (and an Icons spot on the FANDOM 100).

After her death, director George Lucas wrote, “In ‘Star Wars,’ she was our great and powerful princess — feisty, wise and full of hope in a role that was more difficult than most people might think.”

Fans were introduced to Leia in A New Hope as the young Princess of Alderaan. She was hardly a damsel in distress, taking a blaster and jumping into a garbage shoot during her own rescue mission.

The Empire Strikes Back showed Leia’s leadership skills, and also a growing relationship with the swarthy smuggler, Han Solo.

She would join the action again in Return of the Jedi, forging the alliance with the Ewoks during the Battle of Endor.

An older, wiser, and still feisty Leia became leader of the Resistance by the events of The Force Awakens, and continues to serve as General during The Last Jedi. But despite her outward strength, she was deeply hurt by Han leaving and her son Ben turning to the Dark Side.

Below are 20 quotes that made us fall in love with her:

From A New Hope

“Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.” — a holographic Lei pleads.

“Governor Tarkin, I should have expected to find you holding Vader’s leash. I recognized your foul stench when I was brought on board.” — Leia upon meeting the Imperial officer.

“Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?” — Leia to her would-be rescuer, Luke.

“Will someone get this big walking carpet out of my way?” — Leia as she pushes aside the hairy Wookiee, Chewbacca.

“Someone has to save our skins. Into the garbage chute, fly boy.” — Leia to Han as she takes over the reins of her own rescue.

From The Empire Strikes Back

“Why, you stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking, Nerf-herder!” — Leia to Han after he revealed to Luke and Chewbecca she had feelings for him.

“Would it help if I got out and pushed?” — Leia to Han after the Millennium Falcon stalls while trying to escape Hoth.

“Stop that. My hands are dirty.” — Leia to Han as he clasps her hands preparing to kiss her.

“I hope you know what you’re doing.” — Leia to Han as he flies into a cave, which actually turns out to be a giant space worm.

“You have your moments. Not many of them, but you do have them.” — Leia to Han with a kiss, after he steers them out of the asteroid field.

From Return of the Jedi

“We have powerful friends. You’re going to regret this” — Leia to Jabba the Hut, after she is caught freeing Han from stasis.

“You’re a jittery little thing, aren’t you?” — Leia upon meeting Wicket the Ewok.

“I know. Somehow, I’ve always known.” — Leia after Luke reveals he is her brother.

“Oh, it’s not like that at all. He’s my brother.” — Leia to Han after he asks if she loves Luke.

Best of Threads: Cardigan Love, Compliments on the Cheap, and Watches

What’s Dappered Threads? It’s our forum. Launched in 2011, Threads has become a not too big, not too small, just-right-sized forum that doesn’t put up with snobbery. All thanks to the users and hardworking mods. Once a month, one of the mods from Threads provides us with a highlight package of the last few weeks.

What Watch I Wore Today

What Watch I Wore Today |

Looking to find out what’s on the wrist of your fellow Dappered readers? Check out the What Watch I Wore Today thread. Long time lurker, first time poster MDLamp showed off his Seiko 5, prompting Token to share some Seiko love as well. User Publius decided to show that the Soviets could build a decent watch, showing off his Slava Medical watch while LesserBlackDog continued to show off his latest watch acquisition. ajs116 showed the users that minimalist watches wear well, while idvsego demonstrated that purple NATO watch bands pair nicely with black faced diver watches.

When You Wear a Cardigan People Say... |

Credit Doug Chalkey for bringing the discussion of cardigans to fore and addressing their association with Mr. Rogers head on. Many users chimed in with their cardigan experiences, notably Nandyn who over in the WIWT thread kicked off the 12 days of cardigan wearing… but back to the thread at hand. Pesape stated his love for cardigans, even if his friends give him some friendly ribbing. Snake Doctor, julius12, mark4, sdjackofclubs, SwiftToole, BLU8, and motosacto all chimed in saying they loved their cardigans. Loafer28 raised the point of how thin cardigans might not work for everyone depending on your body type. Winghus added his experiences concerning thin vs. thick cardigans with JDOG and jharrisonbarrett providing their views too. Finally Nikbrown posted a few shots of himself in his latest cardigan purchase, with Nandyn showing off the latest cardigan for sale at Target.

Wedding Suits

Wedding Suits |

Congrats to DapperDukes who is recently engaged and asking where he can find affordable suits for himself and his groomsmen for his east coast beach wedding happening next fall. DapperTexan started the thread off right with three rock solid suggestions right off the bat. ianr and hockeysc23 asked some good questions to get more detail about the DapperDukes specific needs while Michael Kenny posted about his personal experience of searching for a suit for his wedding. The discussion then switched gears with talk from Michael Kenny about the benefits of having groomsmen in mismatched suits, thus prompting jealousy from Geo who hoped his fiancee would see the benefits of this approach too. ianr posted a condensed history of wedding attire, with ryn and JT10000 providing some additional context. No word on DapperDukes’ final decision, but here’s to a great wedding!

What Item Gives You the Best Ratio of Compliments:Cost?

What Item Gives You the Best Ratio of Compliments:Cost? |

Domino decided to find out what was the cheapest, most complimented item. Shoes and watches seems to lead the way, with Autiger367 and drocpsu claiming their Casio Edifice watch received their fair share of compliments. tjyoung posted a picture of his Timex, which in keeping with the theme of the thread quickly pulled in compliments from Doug Chalkey and CMR.  Even marble_ jumped in on the action, wanting to know the model of tjyoung’s Timex, presumably to purchase one too. Of course it wouldn’t be a Dappered thread without mentioning shoes. For idvsego it’s his Kenneth Cole penny loafers that get the compliments. For Galcobar it’s his Joseph Abboud full-brogue bluchers, while iviustang50h claims his Clark’s chukka boots are the way to go compliments vs cost ratio. Finally, proving that Dappered readers are more than just shoe and watches fanatics, proteus showed that a nice accessory can produce its share of compliments.

Looking for some advice, direction, or just to connect with some cool guys?  Then Head on over to Threads and take a spin around. Many thanks to contributor Dave I. for assembling this month’s Best of Threads.

Reese Witherspoon & Nicole Kidman Celebrate Their Close Bond: ‘To Know You Is To Love You’

Madeline and Celeste together again!

Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman had a mini Big Little Lies reunion on Monday at the 2017 Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City, where Kidman, 50, was honored with the Actress Tribute.

Witherspoon presented her good friend and colleague Kidman with the Actress Tribute Award – and her introduction was full of love.

“I’ve been one of her biggest fans since I saw one of her very first movies, Dead Calm,” Witherspoon revealed in her speech, describing Kidman in that film as “simultaneously so vulnerable and so badass.”

“I saw this movie when I was a girl and I thought, ‘That is my hero, that is the kind of woman I want to be,’ ” she added.

Fortunately for Witherspoon, she got to work with her heroine.

“So last year, I was really lucky, I got the chance to work with her finally,” she said. “She’d come to set… and she became this woman, Celeste Wright, who was the mother of two, the wife to a wealthy man, who seemingly has it all together, but she holds a secret in her heart, a dark secret.”

“This powerful performance showed the intricacies of what so many women are going through in abusive relationships, and I truly believe this helped open up the conversation that so many people are having now about people who are facing the same struggle with abuse and harassment in their own lives. I truly believe that,” Witherspoon stated.

Before beginning her acceptance speech, Kidman adoringly told Witherspoon: “To know you is to love you, baby, so thank you.”

Both actresses sparkled in their sequined ensembles with Witherspoon, 41, wearing an Oscar de la Renta dress and Tiffany & Co. jewelry while Kidman opted for an Altuzarra dress, Fred Leighton jewels and an Omega watch.

Missing from the Gotham Awards event were costars Shailene WoodleyZoë Kravitz and Laura Dern.

The last time the ladies were together was at the 69th annual Emmy Awards in September when the Big Little Lies cast and crew won best limited series and Kidman won lead actress in a limited series or movie.

And there may be more mommy drama to explore in Monterey, California.

HBO is reportedly considering starting production on a second season of Big Little Lies in Spring 2018, according to TVLine. The network has yet to officially confirm if there will be a season 2 of the series based on Liane Moriarty’s 2014 novel.

“We don’t know yet. We’re kicking it around” showrunner David E. Kelley told Entertainment Weekly in August. “If we feel that the material warrants it, we’ll do it. Everybody’s game for getting the band back together, but we want to make sure that we’ve got the music to justify it. That decision hasn’t been made yet, and it’ll be story-driven when it is.”

How Billy Russo’s Love For the Punisher Spawned Jigsaw

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for The Punisher.

It’s no secret that the character Billy Russo becomes the villain Jigsaw. It’s right there in the comics. But when you start watching Marvel’s The Punisher, it might be difficult to see how Ben Barnes’ war vet, and best friend of Frank Castle, can become this comic-book bad guy. Indeed, some fans were unsure that this new version of Russo would even become his comic-book alter ego.

As Season 1 wears on, however, Billy Russo is gradually transformed into Frank Castle’s arch-enemy. Paradoxically, it’s the unwavering affection Russo has for Frank that makes his transition to villain, and ultimately Jigsaw, so convincing.

Jon Bernthal, who plays Frank Castle in the show, tells FANDOM: “I think [Ben Barnes as Russo] does a beautiful job, and something that I thought was really present in everything he did is this love that he had for Frank. Even as they become complete antagonists and they go up against each other, the love is always there. I think that’s really honest.”

Honest equals real. Which in turn equals believable. These are three-dimensional, complicated characters. Honesty, authenticity and credibility are the benchmarks of this series and that can sometimes make it a tough watch.

Ben Barnes does a beautiful job as Billy Russo.

The Man in the Mirror

Marvel’s The Punisher takes the dark tone of the Defenders series and magnifies it tenfold. If there’s escapist fun to be had amid the gloomier, murkier aspects in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist — and team-up show The Defenders – there’s a distinct lack of it in The Punisher. In dealing with themes like PTSD and terrorism, The Punisher feels grittily realistic. And its violence is brutal; the results of said violence, visceral.

From the start, Russo is set up as ally to a presumed-dead Frank Castle. When Russo finds out his old friend still alive, they meet, and he keeps up what is eventually revealed to be a charade. Sure enough, we find out that Russo is working against Frank with nefarious sociopathic CIA operative Rawlins and wants him dead. In the final episode, a fight with Frank goes badly wrong for Russo. It’s this that sparks his transition to Jigsaw, setting up a villain we’re eagerly looking forward to seeing next season.

While the comics saw handsome gangster Billy Russo receive the facial scars that earn him his Jigsaw nickname from a close encounter with a pane of glass, Frank carves up Billy’s face on a broken carousel mirror. We later learn that Russo’s brain may never fully recover from the savage beating he endures. Later, in the hospital, there’s doubt cast on what he’ll remember if he ever wakes up from his coma.

Bernthal says that, in switching the glass from the comics to a broken mirror in the series, another layer is added to their complex relationship, and to the conflict between them.

“He really cares what Frank thinks,” he says. “And I think that ability then to show him to himself at the end and to make him see what he’s done, and for us to really look at each other through it and to now bring him into my world and understand the shame… I think it was good for us.”

It’s difficult to know what this means for Season 2 of The Punisher, presuming we get one. But it’s safe to say that the dynamic between them won’t be easy to pigeonhole.

Russo is in cahoots with CIA operative, Rawlins.

A Relevant and Honest Origin Story

Showrunner Steve Lightfoot says that the hard work wasn’t in setting up Jigsaw’s signature look – his scarred face – but in building the character.

“It’s his origin story, it’s our version of it,” says Lightfoot. “In some ways, it was all about creating a version of Billy Russo as a character that felt real and relevant and sort of honest. And I think Ben breathed such life into him. We always knew how it was going to end but in some ways, the turning him into Jigsaw is the easy part because all you need to do is mess his face up at the end. But the thing I’m most proud of is I think we’d created a fantastic character before that happened.”

As for that scene at the season climax when Castle “messes up” Russo’s face, it was a neat way of bringing things full circle.

“Rather than just being in a flashy place, it was born of wanting it to relate right back to everything that had started this journey,” says Lightfoot. “So there was always something about this story [that] was always going to end up back at this carousel [where Castle’s family was killed]. And the great thing about carousels is they have mirrors right around the inside. So once we’d worked out that this thing was all about ending where it began it was then about, well, there’s plenty of glass available to us.”

The Punisher is now available on Netflix.

Migos Rapper Offset Has Secret Love Child…Wait, What?

Migos rapper Offset is a father. No it’s not his fiancee Cardi B’s, it’s a secret love child and he doesn’t plan on calling Maury.

Reports Page Six:

Migos rapper Offset appeared in court recently and admitted to fathering a secret love child seven years ago.

The woman with whom 25-year-old Offset had relations, Justine Watson, requested in August more child support for their 7-year-old son, Jordan, according to court documents, obtained by Page Six via The Blast. Watson claimed Offset was Jordan’s father despite never having taken a DNA test and said he sporadically provided financial assistance. Watson requested retroactive child support, health insurance for their son and $ 15,000 for attorneys’ fees.

Offset responded to the case in October, admitting he was Jordan’s father. He also said he wanted joint legal and physical custody of Jordan, and wanted Jordan’s last name to be changed to his own. Offset also said he would provide health insurance and would cover medical expenses for Jordan, as well as child support that “is based upon the income of the parties.”

Sounds like Offset is being a standup guy. Maybe the kid looks just like him, but we’d highly recommend getting a paternity test to be sure all his bases are covered.

Just saying.

Before you ask, this means Offset has three kids with three different women.

‘Justice League’: Fans Show Cyborg Some Love

Aw, Cyborg. Some Justice League fans aren’t overly happy with the mechanoid metahuman’s inclusion in Zack Snyder’s film. Some of his critics see his presence as being at the expense of the widely adored Martian Manhunter, who was one of the original founders of the Justice League of America, or JLA for short. That’s alongside prestigious names including Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman and Green Lantern, of course.

It isn’t the fault of the DC Extended Universe, though. DC Comics relaunched their entire comic-book line back in 2011 and it was then that the change was made. We discussed the reasons for Cyborg’s retconned foundership here:

Why Was Martian Manhunter Replaced by Cyborg as a Justice League Founder?

But while a contingent of fans expresses their displeasure, a faction of DC fans has sprung up celebrating Cyborg. They love everything the half-man, half-machine superhero is, and are using the hashtag #borglife to shout about it.

In Justice League, Cyborg joins Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and The Flash as part of a squad of metahumans rounded up by Bruce Wayne to tackle the threat posed by big bad Steppenwolf. His cybernetic enhancements come with heavy artillery built in, giving the team the extra firepower they’ll need to take on their powerful foe.

During a scene in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we saw Cyborg’s creation, as Victor Stone is transformed by his scientist father using experimental technology following a tragic accident.
