9 Drops You Don’t Want to Miss This Week

This week’s drops roundup features Supreme, Heron Preston, Ignored Prayers, FTP, Gucci, Gosha Rubchinskiy x Burberry, Vetements, BAPE, and Drake‘s tour jacket commemorating his fifth studio album, Scorpion.

With a busy first half of the year, Supreme has continued to push an assortment of provocative collaborations, along with its staple mainline collection. This week is no exception as the drop sees bold graphics from the AK Football top, and absurd 7’10” Advanced Elements Packlite inflatable Kayak (complete with oar), and a Supreme x O’brien life vest. Elsewhere, Heron Preston‘s eponymous label releases its SSENSE exclusive NASA-themed capsule. BAPE goes back to its colorful ways for Fall/Winter 2018, combining vintage sporting silhouettes with relaxed cuts — seen in the track pants, track jacket, stadium jacket and long coach jacket.

Supreme Spring/Summer 2018 Drop 20

We’re now at drop 20 of Supreme‘s Spring/Summer 2018 releases and so far, this week looks to be relatively quiet. Since there are no special collaborations, the most noteworthy pieces are the box logo accessories — a Supreme x Advanced Elements Packlite Kayak (an inflatable one-person kayak with a pump and oar) and a Supreme/O’Brien Life Vest. The water activities theme will extend to a few unseen items releasing this week, which will include an embossed beach towel, taping water shorts, mesh strip tank tops, tracksuits, crusher hats and more. It appears that this will be the last Supreme SS18 drop. We’ll update this post as more info rolls through, so keep checking back.

Dior: From Paris to The World

November 18 – March 3 2019

The Denver Art Museum in Colorado will swing open its doors this November for an exhibition surveying more than 70 years of the House of Dior’s enduring legacy and its global influence. Here, you can expect to see a selection of 150 haute couture dresses, accessories, photographs, archival material and exclusive runway footage. “Artistic interpretation has always been a key factor to the House of Dior’s success in creating a global legacy for the French haute couture house,” explains the exhibition’s curator Florence Muller. “Visitors will witness this through thematic exhibition sections, and will also begin to understand how the Americas contributed to the success of the house over a seven decade period.”

As well as profiling Christian Dior’s own inspirations, the major retrospective will also take a look at the brand’s artistic directors, from Yves Saint Laurent in 1958 to Maria Grazia Chiuri’s vision now. Elsewhere, make sure not to miss the dramatic visual display of the Dior atelier’s exquisite technique — something you won’t get to see anywhere else.

The future of fashion and our planet are a cause for celebration at the V&A’s new unmissable exhibition spanning over 400 years. There is plenty to see here. From botanical embroidery pieces on show, to stellar earrings made from birds of paradise, the retrospective will take visitors on a journey through the centuries of fashion that have plundered the natural world. Expect to be bought closer to nature: take a walk around and you’ll hear the sound of birdsong as well as other animals in their natural habitat. With our second May bank holiday creeping up quickly, add this must-see exhibition to your weekend plans.

Inside Azzedine Alaia: The Couturier

Until 7 October 2018

On May 10, The Design Museum opened its doors for a must-see exhibition charting the inimitable work of Azzedine Alaia, looking at his journey from sculptor to couturier. From stories of his life and career, to iconic garments spanning back to the 1980s, you can expect an exclusive insight into the designer’s work and life — which was co-curated by the designer himself before his death in November 2017.

One of the most anticipated exhibition openings of the year, this retrospective will shine light on the late designer’s signature nipped-in body-con waist, described as “second-skin dressing.” The consummate craftsman understood the female body, moulding clothes to fit the female form — and changed the fashion landscape as we know it. You’ve still got October to see this one so make sure you don’t miss out.

Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up

Opening 16 June

Experience Frida Kahlo’s compelling life story through her most intimate personal belongings, on display exclusively at the V&A this summer. The Mexican artist, best known for her self-portraits, was inspired by the nature and artifacts of her homeland. It’s her physical and emotional pain that were often depicted in her works, shining light on a turbulent relationship and a lifetime of suffering (she had over 30 operations across her life). More than 200 of her personal items will be on display at the retrospective, including clothing items, jewellery, makeup used by the artist and a prosthetic leg in a red leather lace-up boot. You’ve got one month until the doors open so why not book your early bird ticket now.

Margiela/ Galliera, 1989-2009

March 3 – July 15

If there’s one exhibition not to miss before the summer it’s Palais Galliera’s new stand-out retrospective which unpacks the life and work of Martin Margiela. The Belgian designer’s conceptual approach to creating garments is celebrated under the roof of the Galliera, tracing back his career from 1989 to the summer of 2009. He was best known for his technique of deconstructing (he would expose the inside of clothing, leave unfinished parts and embrace pleats and shoulder pads).

Pink: The History of a Punk, Pretty, Powerful Colour

September 7 – January 5 2019

Pink might not be your colour, but at The Fashion Institute of Technology’s new exhibition there is something for everyone. Launching this September, the retrospective will trace back through bright pink dresses from designers including Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Rei Kawakubo, Gucci and Moschino — a vibrant collection that hasn’t been seen together anywhere else.

From Schiaparelli’s 1930 ‘Shocking Pink’ dress to Yves Saint Laurent’s 1960s cocktail dresses, the objects on display depict how pink was coded as the ”feminine” colour in the 18th and 19th century. Elsewhere, the exhibit will also be accompanied by a new book which will be published by Thames & Hudson in October. Expect dresses, history and a whole lot of pink.

Mylan Q1 Profit Up 31%, But Results Miss View; Reaffirms FY18 Outlook

Drugmaker Mylan N.V. on Wednesday reported a 31 percent increase in profit for the first quarter from last year as lower expenses and a tax benefit helped offset a slight decline in revenues. However, both revenue and adjusted earnings missed analysts’ expectations. North America segment net sales fell 19 percent. How an App Helped This Guy Save for 2 Vacations He Couldn’t Miss

For the past three years, Monday through Friday, Jeremy Kolodziej clocked into his job at 6:30 a.m. and commenced his daily 18-mile walk.

The 27-year-old worked as a meter reader for an electrical company in the greater Chicago area. Each day, he’d trek yard to yard, gate to gate and deal with dogs, the weather — a little bit of everything unexpected.

“It wasn’t quite big-time bucks,” he says of the entry-level job.

He also worked a handful of part-time jobs here and there, as a bartender and a Pizza Hut manager.

“I was living comfortably,” he explains. “I make more than some people, but I’d start spending as soon as I made more money. Then you’re still living paycheck to paycheck.”

When Kolodziej committed to taking two vacations in July 2017, he started backpedaling, thinking there was no way he could afford both trips. He’d have to either disappoint his long-time buddies, who were planning a cruise as a last hurrah before getting married and settling down; or his mother, who wanted her son to finally attend a family reunion after missing the past two.

Kolodziej resolved to make a financial change — to start saving his change so he could take both trips.

He’d heard about Acorns through The Penny Hoarder, so he downloaded the microinvesting app and began both passively and actively saving money.

How This Guy Afforded Two Vacations in One Month

For some, scheduling two vacations in one month sounds like a dream, but Kolodziej knew he wouldn’t be able to afford both trips. He didn’t know how to decide which trip to take, and he dreaded breaking the news to one of the parties

“I got to the point where I was like, ‘maybe I can do both if I really buckle down and get serious about saving and just see how much money I can put away,’” he says.

He set a goal. If he could save $ 1,500 in about a year, he could comfortably afford to take both trips.

Using Acorns in conjunction with a savings account, Kolodziej easily met his goal. At the time of the trips, his Acorns savings covered nearly half of the $ 1,500 total costs — which meant he didn’t have to choose one vacation over the other.

Continuing the habit, he’s saved a total of $ 2,087 with the app since downloading it in July 2016.

Saving $ 2,000 Was Effortless With Acorns

Backing up real quick, Acorns is a microinvesting app. It allows consumers to invest small amounts of money into exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which is basically a grouping of stocks with something in common.

Acorns offers a round-up feature, which appealed to Kolodziej. When selected, purchases made on his connected debit or credit cards would be rounded up. Once the digital change added up to $ 5, it’d be deposited into his Acorns account and invested.

“So many people use plastic and debit cards,” he explains. “Not a lot of people carry cash, where you can have a coin jar at home. It’s a virtual coin jar. You don’t even think about it.”

In the 20 months since downloading the app, Kolodziej has saved $ 1,076 in spare change through round-ups.

He also made an effort to deposit $ 10 into his Acorns account each Thursday. If he worked overtime, he’d boost his account with $ 20 using the one-time feature.

Acorns isn’t just a way to save, though. Kolodziej is investing his money, too. Because he was investing small amounts into ETFs, the return wasn’t huge. He’s earned about $ 46 since opening his account. However, he counts that as free money — money he otherwise wouldn’t have made.

He also referred his friends and family members to the app, which earned him another $ 40 in bonuses, $ 5 for each.

“Saving can be overwhelming,” Kolodziej says. “[Acorns] is just all set up for you. You don’t have to do anything.”

Jeremy compares the Acorns app to a virtual coin jar, conveniently in his pocket. Carmen Mandato/ The Penny Hoarder

Acorns’ Downsides (at Least for Some People)

When asked about Acorns’ cons, Kolodziej paused to think. He personally hasn’t found any downsides, but he notes the $ 1-per-month fee that some people have a problem with.

For him, $ 1 per month is nothing when put into perspective. The app has helped him save money, take two vacations he thought he wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford — and has even earned him money.

He did the math: He’s earned $ 46 in returns and $ 40 in referral bonuses. Over 20 months, he’s paid Acorns $ 20. He’s still made $ 66. Plus, he’s saved more than $ 2,000.

Another downside that hasn’t affected him but that his friends have noted is the potential to overdraft.

When you make a purchase of $ 5.10, for example, 90 cents isn’t just automatically dumped into your Acorns account. You have to build up to $ 5 in round ups first. If your checking account frequently runs low, you risk overdrafting because you never know when the change will add up to $ 5 and trigger a withdrawal. Then you might be stuck paying something like a $ 30 overdraft fee.

You also can’t immediately withdraw your money. Like all things banking, the transaction takes a few days to complete. For Kolodziej, this acts as a safety net.

“I see it as an accountability thing, because you can’t have an impulse weekend and just take money out of your Acorns account,” he says. “It won’t be there. You won’t get it in time.”

The Acorns of His Labor… (Get it?)

Jeremy is excited to keep on track with his Acorns savings and hopes to meet this year’s goals. Carmen Mandato/ The Penny Hoarder

With the help of Acorns, Kolodziej was able to go on both vacations.

The first one was the cruise. He road tripped down to Port Canaveral, Florida, with his friends and boarded the ship. They spent four nights aboard and had two stops in the Bahamas.

Even now, nearly a year later, he still gets excited talking about the getaway. “It was like a dream,” he says. “Being out on the ocean in beautiful Caribbean weather with some of your best friends — and a 15-drinks-a-day alcohol package… just so much fun.”

After the cruise, they road-tripped back to Illinois, stopping in Atlanta and Nashville along the way.

“It’s pretty cool that money I spend driving down to Florida and stopping in Atlanta and Nashville on the way back ended up going into my Acorns account for the family reunion I was taking just a week later,” he explains.

The reunion took place in Sevierville, Tennessee, where 30 of his family members (he has a lot of cousins) stayed at a cabin in the mountains. There, they zip-lined, explored caves, drank Tennessee whiskey and bounded down hills in zorb balls, which are basically giant hamster balls for humans.

“Everyone at the family reunion was asking me how I went on a cruise one week and then I was there [in Tennessee] the next, so I told them about Acorns,” he says.

Acorns actually helped him exceed his savings goal for the trips by $ 150. He used that money at the Lodge Cast Iron store in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Cooking is one of his favorite hobbies.

Since last summer’s trips, Kolodziej has continued to save money using Acorns.

In December, he once again emptied his account — this time to pay for Christmas presents. Three months later, in March, he’s back up to a $ 500 balance in the app.

Now that Kolodziej has implemented strategies that help him save, his next conquest is to tackle his debt.

“I’m definitely on the right track,” he shares.

When we chatted on the phone in mid-March, Kolodziej was in his car, headed home from work. He’d just graduated from meter-reading, an apprenticeship, and he’ll now be working as a helper at a substation — a big promotion.

“They’ve already got me working overtime tomorrow,” he says. “No time to celebrate.”

In the meantime, Acorns will keep rounding up the change on his purchases. Maybe he can’t celebrate now, but he’ll eventually have enough money saved to take another cruise with his buddies in July.

Who is Shelby Tribble? New Towie 2018 girl, Pete Wicks’ current girlfriend and former Miss Great Britain

SHELBY Tribble is set to join the cast of Towie – and she’s also rumoured to be dating Pete Wicks.

But, what else do we know about her? And when did she win Miss Great Britain? Let’s get the lowdown…

Shelby Tribble is set to join Towie
Instagram

Who is Shelby Tribble?

Shelby Tribble is the girlfriend of Towie star Pete Wicks.

She won Miss Great Britain – the oldest female pageant in the UK – back in 2014.

Shelby used to date Premier League footballer Danny Simpson.

She will join the cast of Towie for the 22nd series.

When will Shelby Tribble appear on Towie?

Shelby is expected to film her first Towie scenes next week as part of the first episode of the new series.

She was seen at the series launch party, cosying up to boyfriend Pete Wicks.

Shelby may make an enemy of Megan McKenna after sources close to the model reveal she has already been on dates with Pete.

A TV insider told The Sun’s Bizarre column: “Shelby is absolutely gorgeous and fits in perfectly with the cast.

“She’s already very well-known on the Essex scene after living there for years – but is originally from Plymouth.

“Shelby made a name for herself after winning Miss Great Britain in 2014 before she briefly dated footballer Danny last year.

“But in recent weeks she’s been getting close to Pete and mutual pals of the pair predict their romance will be filmed for the new series.”

Shelby’s signing on the show comes after seven members of the cast were axed in a dramatic New Year’s shake-up.

Chris Clark, Amber Dowding and Mike Hassini were three of the names to be given the boot as part of a move from producers to revamp the series.

Jack Rigden, Jordan Brook, Maddie Hooper and Ruby Lacey were also cut – leaving plenty of room for new additions.

Towie bosses have also signed Vicky Pattison’s ex-boyfriend Jordan Wright and Dean Ralph, who used to date Love Island’s Chloe Crowhurst.

Who is Shelby Tribble’s boyfriend Pete Wicks?

Pete Wicks, 28, is from Harlow Essex.

He joined the cast of Towie in 2015.

In March 2017 he had a high profile split from Megan McKenna.

He said that in a game of snog, marry, avoid he’d kiss co-star Gemma Collins because she’d be a “demon” in bed.

Things must be serious with Shelby though since he’s introduced her to his dog.

However things have been a bit tense between them lately after Shelby was seen grinding up against Liam Gatsby.

Is Shelby Tribble on social media?

Of course she is! She’s on Twitter and Instagram.

She’s on Twitter @Shelby_Tribble

Blink and You’ll Miss ‘Em: 5 Movie References Hidden in ‘Ready Player One’

Ready Player One is chock-full of pop culture references. Crammed with them. Filled to the gills. Some are pretty obvious, with the Back to the Future DeLorean front and centre throughout the movie. Atari game Adventure playing a big part in the film’s plot. And a pretty famous horror movie is revisited for an extended sequence. That we won’t spoil here.

But others are harder to find. Brief nods to the classics in the background of scenes. Or understated references to less obvious titles. So the following are five of the best — and least obvious — Easter Eggs that we spotted during an early watch of the film.

Just BEWARE OF READY PLAYER ONE SPOILERS ahead. As well as a COCKTAIL SPOILER. A TERMINATOR 2 SPOILER. And a CITIZEN KANE SPOILER.

1. ‘The Last Action Hero’

Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Last Action Hero.

During the first ‘Quest’ in Ready Player One, competitors participate in a street race through an ever-shifting city landscape. Where they drive past a movie theatre that’s showing Jack Slater III. Which is an in-joke based on an in-joke. As Jack Slater was the fictional movie star that Arnold Schwarzenegger played in The Last Action Hero. It’s also fitting that this reference occurs moments after the Jurassic Park T-Rex cameos, as the summer of 1993 saw The Last Action Hero pitted against Jurassic Park at the box office. With the dinosaurs victorious.

2. ‘Cocktail’

Tom Cruise in Cocktail.

Keep your eyes peeled during Parzival’s visit to Aech’s workshop, as there are references all over the place. Most of them focussed on sci-fi flicks like The Iron Giant and Silent Running. But there are a couple of more random nods to the 1980s in his den. Including a ‘Save Ferris’ sticker from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. But our favourite is a neon ‘Cocktails and Dreams’ sign. Which is what Bryan Brown plans to call his bar in the 1988 Tom Cruise flick Cocktail. He fails to make that dream a reality, but Cruise’s character opens his own ‘Cocktail and Dreams’ at the end of the movie. Where he both pours, and reigns.

3. ‘Back to the Future’

Donald Fullilove as Goldie Wilson in Back to the Future.

There are Back to the Future references everywhere in Ready Player One. From Parzival driving the aforementioned DeLorean and Art3mis calling him McFly to director Robert Zemeckis getting name-checked a couple of times. But blink and you’ll miss our favourite hat-tip. When Parzival is prepping for his trip to The Distracted Globe, and trying on a variety of outfits — including Buckeroo Banzai’s threads and Michael Jackson’s Thriller suit — there’s a poster above the mirror. That features a familiar face below the words ‘Re-Elect Mayor Goldie Wilson.’ Goldie Wilson being the busboy whom Marty encourages to run for mayor in BTTF.

4. ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s thumb in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

During the concluding battle on Planet Doom, a character — whose identity we won’t spoil here — sinks into a fiery river of lava. But before said character disappears, they stick a single thumb in the air. In Terminator 2: Judgment Day, when teaching him to be more human, John Connor shows the T-800 the thumbs-up signal. Following the concluding battle with his terminating nemesis, the T-800 self-terminates by lowering himself into a vat of molten steel. Sticking a single thumb in the air before he disappears.

5. Citizen Kane

The mystery at the core of Citizen Kane.

Ready Player One is obsessed with pop culture of the 1980s. So it comes as something of a surprise that an Orson Welles movie from 1941 gets referenced. But Citizen Kane — one of the greatest movies of all-time — does indeed receive a mention. We’ll dance around the exact details of the scene as it comes at the very end of the film. When one character refers to another as ‘Rosebud.’ That name was the mystery at the heart of Citizen Kane, with a reporter investigating why it was the last word uttered by elderly newspaper magnate Charles Foster Kane before he died. At the end of the movie, he discovers it was the name of the sled eight-year-old Kane was playing on the last time he was happy. And in Ready Player One, the mention of Rosebud has similar emotional resonance.

10 Indie Games You Don’t Want To Miss In 2018

2018 is almost here and luckily for us, it’s bringing a ton of brilliant indie games with it. While there’re a staggering amount of exciting AAA releases coming over the next 12 months, we thought we’d take the time to honour the little guys. Without further ado, here are the 10 most interesting indies you can expect to see more of in 2018.

10. Super Meat Boy Forever

On paper, Super Meat Boy Forever sounds like a bit of a disaster. While the follow up to one of the most beloved indie games of all time should be an easy sell, this sequel is lacking two crucial things: one of its original creators, and a whole load of buttons.

With one half of the duo, behind the original now off out making his own games (Edmund McMillen) and this sequel originally being mobile-only, many fans started assuming the worst. Yet, despite losing half of its co-creators and almost all of its control inputs, Super Meat Boy Forever is actually shaping up to be a worthy sequel.

This time around, gamers only have two buttons to worry about. With our heroes Meat Boy and Bandage Girl now running automatically, players only have to focus on jumping and sliding. As you’d expect from a Super Meat Boy game though, platforming here is still no easy task. With the success of each daring jump resting on how long you hold down each button for, there’s a surprising amount of depth and precision to this two-button platformer.

With procedurally generated levels ensuring that no section plays the same twice, this once mobile-only sequel looks to offer a surprisingly meaty platforming adventure.

Super Meat Boy Forever is launching in summer 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and iOS/Android.

9. The Red Strings Club

Picture a dystopian point and click adventure where you have to make cocktails and sculpt AI behaviour via a pottery mini-game. Having a bit of trouble there? Well, that’s because The Red Strings Club is totally batsh*t insane.

Concocted by the team that brought gamers the hard as nails Gods Will Be Watching, the studio’s next release is something completely different. Set in a not-too-distant cyberpunk future, a mega-corporation called Supercontinent Ltd has managed to solve problems like depression, anger and fear thanks to a cutting-edge new implant programme known as Social Psyche Welfare.

As you’d expect, not everyone is especially pleased about this. The game puts you in the shoes of visionary bartender Donovan. As the owner of local boozerThe Red Strings Club, Donovan uses his incredible cocktail-making skills to create a drink that perfectly matches the customer’s soul. With different ingredients triggering different impulses (like self-doubt, anger, bitterness) in order to glean the right information, players have to carefully combine the right cocktail with the right line of questioning.

If it all sounds utterly bizarre… well, that’s because it is. Oh, and that’s before we get started on the pottery-style, AI implant sculpting minigame. Still, despite how ludicrous it sounds, when you play it, every disparate element here comes together in brilliant and compelling ways. With a suitably dark story bubbling under the surface, this could well be one of the most original and memorable indie games of 2018.

The Red Strings Club launches on PC on January 22nd.

8. In The Valley Of The Gods

Unveiled at last month’s Game Awards, little is known about this mysterious new first-person adventure. Yet, after the developer’s last game, we have a feeling that In The Valley Of The Gods could once again be something special. Developed by Camp Santo, the team behind last year’s moving first-person drama, Firewatch, this Egyptian set tale looks just as intriguing as its stunning predecessor.

With famous graphic designer Olly Moss back on art duties once again, The Valley looks to be just as eye-catching as you’d expect.

Put in the shoes of a film crew attempting to uncover the mysterious behind undiscovered Egyptian tombs, Campo Santo’s latest looks to offer something a little different than your usual first-person adventure. Blending exploration with excavation, the setting looks ripe with potential for this to deliver another utterly gripping Campo Santo narrative.

Unfortunately, In The Valley Of The Gods doesn’t actually launch until 2019. But with the team promising to reveal more juicy information next year, this is a game you most definitely want to be paying close attention to over the next twelve months.

7. Deep Rock Galactic

Imagine a game that’s part Starship Troopers, part Minecraft, then throw in a handful of space dwarves for good measure. That, in a mineshaft, is Deep Rock Galactic. Combining voxel-based visuals with tense horde-mode style bug blasting, this unique indie looks like it might have struck co-op gold.

Deep Rock Galactic is all about teamwork and resource management. With each mine you’re attempting to loot littered with waves of deadly insects, dividing and conquering is key to success. Yet, while this could have simply been a case of sending half the team to mine for ore while the others blast, it’s the ability to sculpt your environments that make this game really interesting.

As you blast and mine your way through each creepy cavern, a quick strike of your axe allows you to mold the environment around you. Thanks to its procedurally generated levels, this Early Access hit is already showing a lot of multiplayer promise.

Deep Rock Galactic will be coming out of Early Access and to Xbox One at an unannounced date in 2018.

6. Phantom Doctrine

Fans of turn-based strategy, it’s time to get a bit excited, because 2018 looks to be a bumper year for the genre. As well as, of course, bringing new entries in the Fire Emblem series, next year also sees indie studio Creative Forge once again taking on X-Com at its own game. The follow up to the unique horror western, Hard West, its latest tactical venture is set amidst the tense backdrop of the Cold War.

Scored by none other than The Witcher III composer Marcin Przybyłowicz, this atmospheric strategy game offers a brilliant slice of tactical alternate history. With sleeper cell units to uncover, covert ops to plan, and enemy troops to brainwash, from what we’ve played so far, Phantom Doctrine looks to offer a brilliantly devious twist on the strategy genre.

If you fancy ditching X-Com’s aliens for something that feels more like a Hollywood spy thriller, you’ll want to keep pay attention to this one.

Phantom Doctrine launches on PC, PS4 and Xbox One spring 2018.

5. Minit

After a brief glance at Minit, you might think you know what you’re getting. The top-down view, a slew of puzzles to solve, the unforgiving combat and a huge map to explore – it’s an old-school Zelda clone, right?

Well… sort of. While this monochrome adventure looks pretty familiar, dig a little deeper and you’ll find that this unique little indie is hiding a pretty major twist. Created by indie duo Jan Willem Nijman and Kitty Calis, these two developers decided to make the antithesis of the kind of AAA adventures they’d worked on before. Having contributed to the making of sprawling time sinks like Horizon Zero Dawn, this time around, the duo wanted to make something that felt more immediate.

In Minit, you spawn as our cute little titular hero and are free to explore the world around you… except you only have a minute to do so. With the clock ticking on each playthrough, you have to plan each move with military precision as you attempt to track down a crucial item. Once you’ve got yourself an item, thankfully it stays with you for the long haul.

Yet with winding mazes, devious enemies, and even incredibly slow talking NPCs standing in your way, our time with Minit proved to be a surprisingly tense and compelling affair. This game is not only a blast to play, but has huge streaming potential. If you’re after a fun new twist on the rogue-like genre, then you’ll definitely want to keep your eye on this unique little gem.

Minit launches on PC this April.

4. Runner 3

This is not only the second Switch exclusive on our list, but also one of our most anticipated games of 2018. With previous entries in the series offering up a masterful blend of platformer and rhythm game, this threequel looks to offer even more wonderfully frustrating action. Trailers so far have given us a glimpse at new camera perspectives, hand-drawn 2D levels, and more impossible-looking jumps than you can shake a fist at.

Skill-based platforming doesn’t get much better than the Runner series – and we can’t wait to get our hands on this brilliant looking new entry. Runner 3 is launching exclusively on Switch sometime in 2018, both digitally and physically.

3. Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes

Amidst a sea of waggle-tastic party games and half-assed light gun experiences, there was one third party game on Wii that offered gamers an un-adulterated and original gaming experience: No More Heroes. Developed by legendary creator and self-proclaimed punk, Suda 51, this violent, motion-controlled adventure combined grin-inducing humour with fast-paced action. It was silly, over the top and utterly unlike anything else in gaming. Sadly though, the franchise went quiet after 2011’s No More Heroes 2.

Now, seven years later, Suda’s favourite otaku protagonist is making a return to Nintendo to kick ass and pet cats once again.

While the previous two entries in the series saw Travis taking down a series of deadly bosses, this time, Suda has given No More Heroes an indie twist. With our hero and a rival finding themselves sucked into a games console, Travis Strikes Again will see the two battling it out across 15 indie games. While we still have no idea how the gameplay will work, indie classics like Hotline Miami and Shovel Knight are the first two crossover titles to be announced.

Given its intriguing premise and the wonderfully insane games that came before it, we have high hope that this Switch exclusive will be something truly special.

Travis Strikes Again is coming to the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2018.

2. The Last Night

If you’ve never heard of Odd Tale’s The Last Night, a quick glance at its reveal trailer will instantly explain why this ambitious indie turned heads at E3. Sporting a gorgeous artstyle that sees pixel art layered in a three-dimensional space, this neon-lit cyberpunk adventure has players trying to find their place in a world where AI has rendered most modern jobs obsolete.

Interestingly, developer Odd Tale promises that The Last Night will actually play out more like a crime drama than a platformer. With in-game characters supposedly responding to the player’s actions, this curious-looking indie title looks to offer an interesting and surprisingly complex take on the cyberpunk genre.

Unfortunately though, when it comes to The Last Night, it’s not all good news. Mere hours after gamers found themselves excitedly talking about this cool-looking indie title, it was discovered that its creator had a bit of a murky past. Thankfully, the game’s creator has been quick to apologise for his former views, revealing in a recent interview how his perspective on the world has changed since.

Dodgy politics aside, for those wanting their gaming experiences with a cyberpunk flavour, The Last Night looks to be one of the most interesting indies of 2018.

The Last Night will be out on PC and Xbox One at an unannounced date in 2018.

1. Crossing Souls

Have you ever thought life would be better if it played out like an eighties movie? If so it looks like the latest game from Devolver Digital has answered your prayers, because that’s pretty much the hook of Crossing Souls. Sporting cool, Earthbound-inspired pixel art and beautifully drawn Saturday morning cartoon-style cinematics, this story-driven RPG see you playing as a gang of wonderfully stereotypical 80s kids who discover a mysterious artefact.

With nods to everything from ET to The Goonies, our brief time with Crossing Souls at Gamescom left us grinning from ear to ear. Gameplay-wise, the setup is pretty simple. Players will spend most of their time talking to those around them and switching between characters in order to solve puzzles and beat certain enemies.

Yet, while it certainly played well, it was the brilliant writing in Crossing Souls that had us itching for more. Thanks to some brilliantly 80s dialogue and an endearing cast of playable characters, we found ourselves taking the time to talk to every single pixelated person that we encountered. With a cool mechanic that sees players able to summon the past into our world, the story looks to go to some pretty crazy places, too.

You can get your 80s on in February, when Crossing Souls comes to PS4 and PC on February 13th.

Miss America CEO Sam Haskell Resigns Amid Offensive Email Scandal

Miss America CEO Sam Haskell has resigned two days after leaked emails revealed he made disparaging comments about contest winners.

Along with Haskell, board chair Lynn Weidner also resigned, though she is remaining on the board for 90 days to aid in the leadership transition.

Board member Tammy Haddad, who was party to some of the emails, had previously resigned, as well.

On Friday night, the board revealed that Haskell was being suspended, pending an investigation. Dan Myers, the organization board’s vice-chair will be taking over as interim chairman.

The shakeup is the result of a Huffington Post report on leaked emails in which Haskell discussed Miss America winners, their sex lives and their bodies using crude language – or was on emails where others were doing so.

“The Board thanks Lynn and Sam for many years of tireless work for, and significant financial support to, both the Miss America Organization and thousands of young women who received millions of dollars of educational scholarships from the Organization as a direct result of their efforts,” the board said in a statement.

Haskell said in a statement on Friday: “The story is so unkind and untrue, and hurts me, my family, and the stewardship of this nonprofit. Those who know my heart know that this is not indicative of my character, nor is it indicative of my business acumen.”

Former contestants, including Gretchen Carlson who sued former Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes for sexual harassment, spoke out against the actions.

PEARLS AND SWINE: Miss Piggy will bask in the spotlight — her favorite place — during the Fashion Awards in London as the Swarovski Red Carpet Presenter. The appearance will mark Miss Piggy’s debut at the British awards ceremony.
She and Derek Blasberg will cohost the live-stream on Dec. 4 at Royal Albert Hall on behalf of Swarovski, the event’s headline sponsor. “Moi on the red carpet is always a spectacular event,” said Miss Piggy.
“I promise everyone a night of incomparable and unpredictable moi! Having moi as the red-carpet presenter for the 2017 Fashion Awards truly pushes the limits of fabulosity.”
While it’s still unclear what Miss Piggy will be wearing that evening, the outfit won’t be boring.
She has told WWD that when it comes to fashion, it’s about pleasing yourself first. “If you’re happy with how you look, don’t worry about pleasing others — it’s not as if their opinion actually matters!
“Also, I believe that what you wear should say something about you. My clothes always make a statement, and that statement is usually: “Hey, look at me, I’m wearing something original, expensive…and I got the network to pay for it!”

Khloé Kardsahian Remembers Her Late Father on the Anniversary of His Death: ‘Miss You Everyday’

Khloé Kardashian is paying special tribute to her late father Robert Kardashian.

On Saturday, the 14th anniversary of his death, Khloé, 33, honored his memory with a touching Instagram tribute.

“To the great of the great…miss you everyday!” she 33, wrote alongside a series of sweet throwback pictures of herself and her dad.

Kim Kardashian West also retweeted two adorable video clips of her and her father as a way to pay her respects.

In January, Khloé — who is now pregnant with her first child — opened up on an episode of her TV show Revenge Body about what it was like to lose a father as a teenager.

“My dad died in 2003. I was 19. And when it set in, I was like, you spiral. For me, my spiral was food,” she said.

“I gained so much weight because I was so internally just suppressing so many things that it was like, eating me alive, and I was literally eating anything,” she added.

But even though she still misses her father, in March the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star thought it was time to get one of her “Daddy” tramp stamp removed.

“It’s the end of an era…got this bad boy when I was 16,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a video of the tattoo removal process. “I should’ve listened to Kim when she told me ‘you don’t put a bumper sticker on a Bentley.’ Bye-bye bumper sticker!!!”

Robert died Sept. 30, 2003 from cancer. He was 59 and is survived by ex-wife Kris Jenner, now 61, and their four children: Kourtney, 38, Kim, 36, Khloé, 33, and Rob, 30.

5 Things You Won’t Want To Miss at IDS Vancouver 2017!

From September 26th – October 1st, nearly 40,000 designers and design enthusiasts will converge on downtown Vancouver for the 13th annual Interior Design Show. The event brings together the newest & most innovative of international and Canadian design. With three and half days of inspirational exhibits, influential speakers & leading products, IDS Vancouver is not just a fair — it’s a total design experience.

As we prepare for the event, here are five highlights from this year’s show that I am excited to explore!

THE MIX

Brand new for 2017, THE MIX is an exciting collection of displays, installations and talks both onsite and off starting on Tuesday, September 26th! 3 leading designers based in the Netherlands will join forces with 3 well-known Vancouver creators to collaborate on exhibits and design discussions both at the show and at the Vancouver-based designers’ and artists’ studios.

For more information on THE MIX and the scheduled events both off and onsite, visit THE MIX page on the IDS Vancouver website.

Tokyo Exchange

In it’s fourth year, this year’s Exchange will feature Tokyo. An enigmatic city, Tokyo’s design scene is a mixture of ancient and modern, liberal and conservative, east and west influences. Curated by Design Milk, the Tokyo Exchange will bring together works by innovative Tokyo-based design studios – we+ and Design for Industry. The installation will be designed by Vancouver-based FSOARK Architect Inc. For more information on what you can expect from The Exchange this year, click here.

Prototype and Studio North

Each year, IDS Vancouver is a great place to find unique pieces and new design talent! Two features we love include Prototype and Studio North. Prototype aims at showcasing the next generation of designers, featuring products that are not currently in production, bringing new ideas to the marketplace. Studio North is a marketplace for custom work and limited edition pieces. Both Canadian and international designers will be displaying custom collections of furniture, lighting, glass, ceramics, textiles and surface design in a gallery-like setting. Studio North is a great place to find a unique statement piece to add to your decor!

Walaland Central Bar Feature

When you’re ready to stop for refreshments, you’ll want to visit the Central Bar. London-based artist Camille Walala will be collaborating with ANN SACKS to transform the bar into joyful place filled with Camille’s signature tribal-pop prints, high-octane color combinations, and eye-popping graphics. The highlight of the design this year will be a 60-ft painted mural incorporating ceramic tiles from ANN SAKS as the backdrop for the bar. For more on the Walaland collaboration, click here.

HAY Pop Up Shop

Renowned Danish design brand HAY will be offering select pieces from their collection for purchase on-site at this special Pop Up Shop presented by Inform Interiors. The collection from HAY is inspired by the stable structures of architecture and the dynamics of fashion, combined to create quality products in cooperation with some of the world’s most talented, curious, and courageous designers. The little parenting moments you didn’t know you’d miss

by

Laura Falin

posted in Life

I am, decidedly, done having kids.

After I had my third, I remember talking to my mom and saying, “Wellll…I’m not sure if we’re done or not.” She responded, “Ohhh. You’ll know.” She was right. I had our fourth and my husband and I looked at each other and just knew. We love them all, we’re glad we had each and every one of them, and… we’re done now.

So I view everything my youngest does, knowing that I will never have another baby or toddler or kid who does these things. We experience every milestone knowing it’s going to be the last time we do these things. And after doing them all four times, it’s hard to know there won’t be any more.

I did expect this, of course. I expected to get sentimental over her first steps, and first words, and first days of school. Everyone expects that. Our kindergarten even has a “Tea and Tissues” morning when parents send their babies off to school for the first time. So it shocked me that those weren’t the moments that made me well up inside and get teary and wistful. The moments I miss…I didn’t even know were moments at the time.

I miss going to adventure.

I miss sitting in the purple swing at the park, reading library books at 10 in the morning.

I miss eating lunch with whichever kids were young enough to be home from school at the time.

I miss hearing someone lisp “vegpitals” instead of “vegetables.”

I miss The Naked Dance that every single one of my kids decided was necessary before bathtime when they were two.

I miss people waking me up at 6:20 in the morning to ask me whether lobsters have brains.

My husband was baffled when we came home from a minor school performance — it wasn’t the big end-of-the-year show, it was a low-key Thanksgiving celebration with a song or two — and I lost it. I sat at the kitchen table and had a good, long cry and I can’t explain why that small event hit me so much harder than the bigger ones. Maybe because big events aren’t common. The small things that stop happening remind me that life as a whole is changing.

“Great news, Mom! We get to keep the kazoos from our performance!!” Okay, maybe I don’t miss the kazoo…

This is a good thing. I love watching how my children are growing, and the talents and activities they’re discovering, and the passions they’re developing. I don’t want to go back.

But every once in a while, I just need to miss the little people they used to be and have a good cry about it all.

Are there any little moments you miss that surprised you?

I went on a trip without my kids and I did NOT miss them

by

Deidra Romero

posted in Parenting

Since having kids, I have never spent a single night child-free. But that all changed last week. My husband and I had 3 glorious nights away for the first time in FIVE WHOLE YEARS.

And it was the stuff of dreams.

We stayed up late talking with friends and watching Game of Thrones. We had long, lingering brunches. We traveled light without the strollers, car seats, and baby wipes. I even carried a small cross-body purse.

mom on vacation wearing cross-body purse

I thought: Someone pinch me.

I enjoyed the most mundane activities like standing in line at Starbucks. It was amazing not answering one million questions about all the things in the whole wide world.

I will be honest, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to click out of mom-mode.

I was worried I would miss them so much I wouldn’t be able to enjoy myself. I was worried I would be worried the whole time.

But when we got to the airport, we had so much time before our flight (it’s amazing how quickly you can move kid-free). So I snuck in a pedicure and manicure with my favorite podcast and one of those massage chairs.

That was enough to put me right into vacation mode.

I was afraid to Facetime my kids who were staying with my mom. I had heard stories of kids breaking down over Facetime and I just didn’t want to deal with all that guilt on my vacation. But my husband insisted we try it.

They were 100 percent fine. Happy, even. They loved spending time with my mom who was spoiling them.

There were very few tears shed in our absence. None of the things I feared happened.

happy woman jumping on bed holding pillow

Do you remember that weightless feeling you had before kids?

When you would wake up and the entire day was yours? You could literally do whatever you wanted. I had forgotten that feeling.

I had forgotten that feeling.

While we were away, it was as if my husband and I were visiting our life before children. I felt like a time-traveler in a sacred land.

husband and wife smile

Until this trip, I didn’t realize how quickly I move through my days. I rush from the moment I get up in the morning until bedtime. I was expending so much emotional energy every single moment so I could maximize my productivity while parenting effectively.

That time away provided me with so much clarity. I wasn’t expecting that. I thought I would come back feeling rested, but I didn’t foresee this renewed perspective.

Now, I’m trying to move through each day at a well-measured pace. These days with small children are marathons, not sprints. I got into the habit of rushing all the time and the seconds I save are not worth it.

I’m organizing my days much better and I’m learning new ways to incorporate rest and relaxation. I’m putting my phone away more too. It’s a time suck and emotionally draining. I can’t go back to the hectic life I created before.

Even though I didn’t miss my kids at all, I was so happy to come home to them. That weightless, child-free feeling is euphoric, but I live a life tethered to this earth by these two precious children. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Have you managed a child-free getaway since becoming a mom?

Seeing Carrie Fisher’s Amazing Bedroom Will Make You Miss Her Even More

Carrie Fisher’s colorful and eclectic bedroom, offers a great insight into the late Star Wars actress’ creative mind.

Beneath cloud wallpaper, Fisher would often write and hold court in her bedroom that featured items she collected from her travels around the world.

Fisher’s home, featured in this week’s issue of PEOPLE, is exactly how she left it when she died in December one day before her mother, Debbie Reynolds, who lived in the house next door.

On Oct. 7 and 8, Fisher’s customized headboard along with thousands of other items will be up for sale when Profiles in History holds the The Personal Property Auction of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds that will feature many of the pair’s prized possessions, including Fisher’s writing desk, the Christmas tree she kept up year-round, her shooting script from The Empire Strikes Back and her director’s chair from Return of the Jedi.

“If you are a Star Wars fan, this is the Holy Grail,” says Profiles in History CEO Joe Maddalena about the script and chair.

Estimates for the items are not yet available, and part of the proceeds will go to mental health charities: Reynolds’s longtime cause the Thalians and the Jed Foundation, chosen by Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd, 25.

“The things in her room make this quirky environment that was Carrie Fisher,” says Maddalena.

Sarah Silverman Remembers Her Mother on Anniversary of Death: ‘I Miss You Mom, You Are a Warrior’

Sarah Silverman shared a touching post on Instagram in honor of her mother on Saturday.

Silverman posted a throwback photo of her mother, Beth Ann O’Hara, who died two years ago at the age of 73. Wearing a red shirt and denim overalls, O’Hara flashed a big smile for the beautiful photo — the same one Silverman shared when her mother died in 2015.

“Two years ago today my mom left her earthly shell. I feel like I’m just beginning to understand her. She had so many struggles and over her years persevered through all of them,” wrote Silverman in the emotional post.

“She was raised in a time when girls were seen and not heard and went to college to find husbands instead of themselves. But she found her voice and she found her immeasurable strength and had great years after allowing herself her full potential. And then her body was the fight and she battled for decades before that took her too. I miss you mom. You are a warrior.”

O’Hara was also involved in showbiz — producing and directing 50 plays over the course of 25 years,  New Hampshire Public Radio reported.

In honor of her work, Silverman presented her mom with a lifetime achievement award at the New Hampshire Theater Awards in 2003, the New Hampshire Public Radio also reported.

Before presenting the award, the actress and comedian described her mother as “loving, nurturing” and “colorful.”

“Loving, nurturing, caring, colorful — she used to wear two different color socks, I’m not sure she was aware of that – supportive, honest, strong and with endless creativity and energy. She gives us the feeling that we fill her heart with love and I think it’s because we fill her heart with love. Mom … we feel the same. you fill our hearts, as well,” Silverman said of her mother during the award presentation.

When her mother passed away in 2015, Silverman wrote a beautiful tribute on Twitter.

“Wednesday morning my mom died,” Silverman wrote for the Twitter post. “She was a know-it-all in overalls & two different colored socks. And defiantly, no bra.”

“The woman who, when I was little, gave me detailed directions to a restaurant ladies room then secretly watched as I found my way to it on my own,” she continued. “The woman who went back to college at 42, and skinny dipped in ponds, and told me never to protect myself from a broken heart because it was so very worth the pain to get to experience love.”

Houston Nutt would settle lawsuit against Ole Miss for apology

Houston Nutt’s attorney has offered to settle the former coach’s federal lawsuit against Ole Miss if the university apologizes for making inaccurate statements about him to the media and donates $ 500,000 to establish a state commission on sports ethics, sources with knowledge of the case told ESPN on Monday morning. Last month, Nutt filed a lawsuit against Ole Miss and the university’s board of trustees, alleging that former coach Hugh Freeze, athletic director Ross Bjork and other athletic department officials violated a separation agreement with Nutt by making disparaging comments about him in off-the-record conversations with reporters. Nutt’s attorney, Thomas Mars of Little Rock, Arkansas, wouldn’t confirm details of the proposed settlement, which he sent to Ole Miss officials on Friday. Katherine Webb Eats Cookies (and Wears a Pageant Crown) While Watching Miss Universe

Once a beauty queen, always a beauty queen!

Former Miss Alabama Katherine Webb put her pageant crown back on while watching this year’s Miss Universe pageant on Sunday, and enjoyed a bag of cookies while taking in the competition.

“How I watch #MissUniverse these days,” Webb, 27, captioned her Instagram photo, along with a cookie emoji. “Lets go USA!”

Last week, Webb came under fire for posting a photo of her 8-month-old son Tripp’s butt and captioning it, “The only time butt dimples are cute.”

“It’s natural to have butt dimples, not everyone’s perfect,” one commenter wrote. “Stop encouraging body shaming.”

But others came to her defense, stating that those who were offended were being oversensitive.

“The internet is filled with the perpetually offended,” wrote another commenter. “Not everything should be posted, but there’s nothing wrong with this. If this photo offends you, you are the problem.”

Webb has posted about her own cellulite in the past, saying she feels confident in a bikini in her new post-baby body.

“Say what you want, but I feel great about myself even with the extra cellulite on my butt and stretch marks,” she posted along with a bikini-clad mirror selfie last June, “so shoot me if I felt banging for once in this bikini.”

SHOPPING DEALS UPDATE:

See Gigi Hadid’s First Designs for Tommy Hilfiger (and Three More Collabs You Can’t Miss!)

If you’re starting to compile your fall shopping list, there are some cool new collaborations happening in the style sphere you’re going to want to check out. Tommy Hilfiger’s collaboration with Gigi Hadid is finally ready to hit stores in September (but we have a first look at the pieces now!). J.Crew’s latest collection features the cutest new prints to liven up your wardrobe (we’re talking unicorns and Bengal tigers). Your favorite beauty brand, Aerin, is getting into the accessories business (and tapped the reigning queen of the accessory, Olivia Palermo, to lend a hand).  And finally, TOMS has your footwear needs covered thanks to its chic (and charitable) collaboration with Prabal Gurung.

First, let’s discuss Hadid’s new design gig. As Tommy Hilfiger’s brand ambassador she worked with the company to create a capsule collection featuring women’s sportswear, footwear, accessories and fragrance (the latter of which you can check out here) that mixes Hadid’s girl-next-door vibe with the preppy aesthetic the brand’s known for. In a statement, Tommy Hilfiger himself calls Hadid “the definition of today’s ‘Tommy Girl’ — her magnetic personality is bright and always optimistic, and her style is confident, effortless and cool.”

And Hadid is just as excited. “I never thought I would be asked to design a capsule collection, so it still feels like a dream that Tommy approached me to collaborate,” said Hadid in a statement. “His company is one that I genuinely love and have been a fan of for my entire life, and Tommy is the easiest, most fun person to work with. I have always looked up to his brand, campaigns and design style. I think our collection celebrates the iconic Tommy lifestyle and mixes a bit of everything: there are styles that are really hippie-chic, styles that are sporty streetwear, and styles that are tomboy but girly; everyone’s is going to love a different part of it.”

Courtesy of Tommy Hilfiger

The clothes will be available after the brand’s runway show during New York Fashion Week in September. But until then, we have a sneak peek of a few looks that include cozy knits, starry-print dresses, military-inspired jackets and sporty undergarments.

J.Crew

Your go-to store for those fall classics (that would be J.Crew) just debuted one of their coolest, most whimsical collections of late — and it’s all thanks to Drake’s. (No, it’s not the Drake you’re thinking of.) Drake’s is a renowned English brand that’s been handcrafting men’s scarves, ties and pocket squares since 1977. And its work with J.Crew marks the first-ever women’s collection for the company. For its inaugural collection, there will be scarves, shoes and pajama-inspired ensembles (which are a huge trend among celebs right now) all featuring whimsical prints with birds of paradise, unicorns, and Bengal tigers in various colorways.

J.Crew

The line is available on August 16 with accessories ranging between $ 59-$ 78 and clothing ringing in around $ 198.

Claiborne Swanson Frank

Next let’s talk accessories. Aerin Lauder is expanding her namesake beauty brand with a line of handbags, shoes and scarves launching this fall. She explained in a statement she wanted to “create meaningful pieces that could be carried from season to season in an effortless yet stylish way.” It’s set to incorporate the brand’s signature feminine style with sleek hardware and floral touches. The bags will come in “practical shapes” while the shoes all come in flat styles to accommodate an on-the-go (but uber-chic) woman.

As for Olivia Palermo’s involvement, she was tapped to be the face of the fall campaign. “Olivia has always been a source of style inspiration for me and I wanted to work with someone that represented the Aerin aesthetic,” Lauder said in a statement. “Olivia is the modern style icon of our time and her feminine, modern and effortless style is very much in line with the DNA of our brand.”

You can shop the collection on Net-a-Porter.com and on the brand’s website, Aerin.com and — word to the wise — you might want to start saving now. Handbags retail from $ 450 to $ 2,450, shoes between $ 495 to $ 1,150 and scarves for $ 175 to $ 475.

TOMS is known for its one-for-one charitable business model (for every shoe sold they donate a pair to those in need). This fall the brand is partnering with designer Prabal Gurung to both celebrate and support Gurung’s home country of Nepal. For every pair of shoes purchased from the collaboration, TOMS will donate $ 5 to the Shikshya Foundation Nepal in support of education for underprivileged children and to help aid relief efforts in the country. The collection will be released on September 12, but for now, you can pick your favorite pattern (but let’s be real, we want all of them!) and add them to your shopping list.

Miss Piggy Does Not Tolerate Catcalling

Miss Piggy recently came out to the world as a feminist icon. On the heels of this historic announcement, MTV sat down with Miss Piggy and Kermit The Frog to discuss feminism, the new Muppets show and catcalling (because male chauvinist pigs, duh).

When asked, “How would you handle being catcalled?” Miss Piggy said, “Usually whenever somebody catcalls me on the street, there’s a new pothole the next day.” Kermit The Frog quickly added, “Yes, with a head sticking up.”

Moral of the story? Don’t mess with Miss Piggy.

9 Reasons No One Will Miss Sepp Blatter When He’s Gone

Longtime FIFA president Sepp Blatter voluntarily resigned on Tuesday after nearly two decades at the helm of perhaps the world’s most important sports organization.

But while everyone is focusing on the overwhelming evidence of corruption within the organization, we just couldn’t let Blatter drift into obscurity without first recounting his many shortcomings throughout the years.

He suggested female athletes “play in more feminine clothes.”

In 2004, he offered a suggestion to boost the popularity of women’s soccer: “Let the women play in more feminine clothes like they do in volleyball. They could, for example, have tighter shorts.” More than a decade later, the women’s game is doing just fine without his knucklehead advice.

He noted women should talk as much at work as they do at home.

In 2013, he tipped the sexism meter to idiotic while boasting that three women out of 24 members then served on the executive committee. “We now have three ladies on the board,” he said. “Say something, ladies! You are always speaking at home. Now you can speak here.”

He said gay people shouldn’t have sex at the World Cup.

He’s stuck his foot in his mouth on other issues as well, like gay rights. After Qatar was awarded the World Cup for 2022, Blatter had this tip for gay fans visiting the country, knowing Qatar’s strict laws against homosexuality: “I’d say they should refrain from any sexual activities.”

He implied that Africans are less honest than Europeans.

Some might say he was racist, too: In 2006, he told an Italian newspaper that reported match-fixing in Italy’s soccer league would tarnish the game’s image. “I could understand it if it had happened in Africa,” he said, “but not in Italy.”

He said a simple handshake could cure racism.

Yet this is the same man who told CNN that racism in soccer could be cured with a handshake. Oh, wait, that was at the same time he said racism wasn’t a problem on the field at all. “There is no racism. There is maybe one of the players towards another — he has a word or a gesture which is not the correct one.”

At the very least, he showed cluelessness.

While many believe the investigation into bribery, fraud and racketeering will eventually hit Blatter directly, we can perhaps all agree that he wasn’t running a tightest of ships.

In 2011, FIFA opened an investigation into its own organization. Surprise: it absolved Blatter of wrongdoing while conceding that he did have poor oversight in a bribery matter. The ethics committee didn’t make the 430-page report public, issuing a 42-page “executive summary” in 2014 instead.

He dismissed words to the wise.

He apparently wasn’t much of an advice-taker, either. In 2011, Blatter’s own commission of an independent study into reform at FIFA resulted in the recommendation that he have a system for “disclosing cash payments to officials.” According to the Wall Street Journal, he ignored it.

He said Russia’s World Cup could help peace.

Blatter seems to have a skewed view of diplomacy as well. He said in March that Russia hosting the World Cup in 2018 would stabilize the region. Right, ’cause the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi worked so well to bring peace to Ukraine.

He didn’t know a soccer star when he saw one.

The exiting soccer chief could be pretty oblivious too. U.S. national team star Alex Morgan said Blatter didn’t even recognize her at a 2013 banquet to award the FIFA Women’s Player of the Year. Morgan was one of the finalists. “Sepp Blatter didn’t know who I was,” she said. “That was pretty shocking.”

Soon enough, he won’t be your problem anymore, Alex. Oh, how the mighty has fallen.

Planning a Honeymoon? Don’t Miss These 6 Tips!

Some days I wish I could go back and plan our wedding all over again. Just kidding, I would never wish for that, but what I DO wish I could do is plan our honeymoon all over again. We were less than thrilled with Costa Rica (you can’t win them all!), but you can’t go wrong using any of the below tips.
2014-11-24-IMG_4458.JPG
(Sometimes I do re-live our honeymoon just to look at my smoking hot husband. #realtalk)

Planning a honeymoon? Here is some of my best advice!

1. Don’t use a travel agent. They are getting commission off the packages they sell to you, so they’re going to guide you toward the packages where they receive the highest revenue. I would do the same thing! What I’m saying is–only you know what you will like. The reality is that the majority of these travel agents have never been to the resorts and destinations they’re selling you on. Before our honeymoon, we had always booked trips ourselves and figured we would take a chance since we had heard great things regarding travel agents making THE BEST arrangements. Never again, lesson learned.

2. If you’re going to a tropical, all-inclusive type of place, you will live in your swimsuit, so pack accordingly. I got this advice before we went on ours and made sure I had a different bathing suit for everyday, as well as a new cover-up. It helps later when you’re trying to differentiate days via photos

3. If you have any sort of food allergies, pack things like granola bars, that you know you’ll be able to eat in a pinch. My husband verified with our resort that I would have plenty to eat with a gluten allergy, but when we got there it was a totally different story. Being sick for eight days on your honeymoon IS NOT fun. Thankfully, I always keep at least one box of KIND bars in my suitcase when I travel.

4. Use your days to unwind and completely unplug. I know, I know. You want to look at all your wedding photos, check in on Facebook & Instagram and make sure your email inbox hasn’t imploded. I did, too! Save it for the evenings when your significant other is grabbing a shower or you have some downtime before dinner. Spend your daytime simply taking in your time off!

5. This one seems obvious, but I was completely aloof. For international travel regardless of if the resort says you will not need it, bring a converter. So many of our plug-in items (hairdryer, toothbrush, razor, etc.) completely failed on us mid-trip because we weren’t able to charge them! The items we were able to charge made this horrendous buzzing noise that led me to believe they would explode at any given moment. Just pack that darn converter.

6. Again for international travel, make sure your passport is up to date! One thing that didn’t happen to me, but happened to a friend is in regards to passports and name changing. If you plan on taking a later honeymoon and have changed your name officially, make sure your passport matches the name on the ticket! They will 100 percent not let you on the plane otherwise. YIKES!
