Artist Nick Grant on Navigating A Career in the Business of Hip-Hop

Nostalgia is a dangerously beautiful thing. Too much of it will prevent you from appreciating the new, but the right amount will leave you feeling refreshed. Nick Grant is the perfect balance. His presence on the microphone reminds us all of the golden age of hip-hop, drawing on a genius level talent for wordplay and storytelling. His approach, however, is not one that is so deeply rooted in a 90s persona that it comes off as overly reminiscent of times past. His beat selection is soulful but still current. The content? Topical, he tells the story of a willingness to get uncomfortable while pursuing an intrinsic passion. Taking on life’s wins, failures, and the lessons in between while growing into the person he saw himself as before the world got the big picture. Grant’s newest project, “Dreaming Out Loud,” delivers that narrative in sonic form, and with 6.2 million streams on his latest project, tour dates with Nas and Lauryn Hill, and cosigns from greats like DJ Khaled, it appears that hip-hop may have a new challenger to the throne.

Modern day artists are fully aware of the need for multiple streams of income. The music industry business model is still in transition. Streaming pumped life back into the business, but artists aren’t seeing much profit from the sales. According to The Guardian, artists only get $ 0.00783 and $ 0.00397 per stream from Apple and Spotify, respectively. As a result, musicians must heavily rely on show money and merchandise sales to pull in cash. Naturally, an artist like Grant who is poised for worldwide success must keep his head on a swivel when it comes to diversifying his portfolio. After all, music is a young man’s sport and eventually the goal is to move into other business ventures.

In a conversation filled with sheer appreciation for the moment, Grant revealed a very focused intent. The first chapter of his journey is closed, and his future is on the horizon. As he reflects on the experience of putting himself in position to eat, he has honed in on solidifying a foundation upon which his empire can stand. Coming from Walterboro, South Carolina, with a population of 5,000 people, it was no easy adventure for Grant to get here.

“You can’t walk into a label from a small town. I didn’t even have a studio, we had to make one and record in a closet. A move to Atlanta was a family move that worked out. At the time Ludacris, T.I., and Outkast were artists you could look up to and also run into at any time. It was a different world, but it was accessible. I still had to pay my dues, go around and do rap battles and go to studios and get my voice heard.”

Nowadays, opportunities to diversify your career trajectory depend on social currency. Those ever-so-necessary metrics that prove you’ve got the audience to drive revenue. It’s what every brand looks for when forging partnerships with artists looking to merge into other lanes of creative professionalism. While Grant is undeniably talented, he’s still earning his spot among the megastars of the game. The necessary evil in that is maintaining a social presence and growing a visible fan base by the numbers.

“Everything is just hip-hop while I build a solid foundation. I want to get into acting, clothing, and finding artists. Music has a deadline so diversifying is key. You have to pay attention to the things you’re into and your direction. It takes staying committed and being comfortable with yourself. I could be better with social media and things. I’m growing to learn about those things on top of doing more shows and touching fans. Developing those habits of making sure it’s my best whenever I put up content.”

You can hear the reluctantly wise compromise in his voice. He’s an MC to the core, cut from the cloth of earning his stripes through battles and fighting for his songs to be heard in studios. The music should speak for itself, and create all of the opportunity he deserves. Unfortunately, this isn’t a perfect world and sometimes people want to see before they hear. That includes the folks who can provide opportunities in Grant’s places of interest beyond beautifully crafted bars. A true professional, he’s OK with playing the game as long as the music is on point. He’s got a platform now, and with that comes a duty.

We’re the first generation of black men facing our demons without burying our emotions. On top of that, black women are holding us accountable for appreciating them and dispelling toxic viewpoints we learned from fathers, uncles, and brothers who went unchecked. Both subjects are regular topics of conversation across Twitter timelines. Using songs like “Father Figure” and “Black Woman,” Grant addresses two of the most sensitive topics for many black men. Confronting unresolved issues with the men responsible for raising us, and embracing the importance of the women who nurtured us no matter the cost.

“I realized having a voice is a responsibility. These are things that I always wanted to talk about. Women were a village that raised me and provided for me when I couldn’t provide for myself. It was important for me to speak on, even if I was the only one to hear the records. Fortunately, it didn’t go unnoticed. Black Woman is 2-3 years old, but it shows you that God has his timing.”

Nick’s appreciation for his position is full proof, while the game he’s in keeps reinventing itself. Platforms like Spotify offer licensing deals to artists, while companies like United Masters help artists create direct-to-consumer markets. It’s all in an effort to cut out the middleman. Still, Grant saw fit to sign with a major label. His golden ticket is in the business minds he keeps around him at Culture Republic, an imprint focused on identifying and cultivating authentic brand partnerships for the artists it represents. Culture Republic is run by Jason Geter, Chaka Zulu, and Bernard Parks who have successfully launched and navigated the brands of international superstars such as T.I., Ludacris, 2 Chainz, Travis Scott, Iggy Azalea, Outkast, Cee-Lo Green, 8 Ball & MJG, B.O.B., DJ Drama, and Big K.R.I.T.

“I feel like I always got the cheat code. The people in my management are schooling me. I’m also picking up on ideas through conversation and learning on my own. I’m paying close attention to my peers and the moves they’re making. For me, it’s about letting the music open up the doors. Make sure the art is right, and everything is a domino effect.”

Grant’s whole mentality is to lift as he climbs. He wants to build a studio back home in South Carolina, He wants to help dope artists put out projects, and put people in the position to help others. He’s a fan of the culture first, so as long as he can aid others in realizing their dreams, he’s satisfied. His love for simple things is draped in the humble nature of the southern states that raised him. With a lyrically refreshing project receiving a warm welcome from critics and fans alike, Grant offered parting words on the possibility of the cultural pendulum swinging back in favor of the wordsmiths.

“I don’t think it ever swung away. Who’s to say that the people everyone calls microwave artists aren’t just being who they really are, and that’s why it’s working for them? I would like to say I’m cut from the same cloth as a Kendrick or a J. Cole. To be a king in hip-hop you have to have a story and messaging. As long as you’re speaking about certain things you’re going to cut through. Everybody who’s the GOAT has to have a body of work. That’s my path. I want to be one of the greatest.”

Nick Jonas ‘serious’ about Priyanka Chopra romance

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Jonas is “serious” about his reported romance with Priyanka Chopra.
The 25-year-old singer has been rumoured to be dating the ‘Quantico’ star for several weeks, and after it was claimed Nick took Priyanka to his cousin’s wedding last week, sources now say the new couple are head over heels for one another.
A source told People magazine: “It’s a huge deal that Nick brought Priyanka to his cousin’s wedding. He’s dated a lot over the last couple years but it’s never been anything serious, so this is a big step.
“Nick and Priyanka really like each other, and his family enjoyed getting to know her as well. She fit right in!”
The new couple were spotted jetting into JKF airport last week and then headed to New Jersey for the wedding, which was also attended by Nick’s brother Kevin Jonas, his wife Danielle and many of their extended family.
Priyanka, 35, was seen mingling and laughing with the ‘Jealous’ hitmaker’s family throughout the long weekend.
The pair then added more fuel to the dating rumours after they were spotted heading out for a dinner date in New York City at Park Avenue Summer.
A source said: “They were very affectionate with each other and seemed to not care who saw. Priyanka ran her hands through his hair at one point and they were laughing and even dancing to the music.
“[They] seemed really into each other. They were very cute.”
Priyanka and Nick had previously set tongues wagging when they spent Memorial Day weekend together.
A source said at the time: “Priyanka and Nick were talking really closely and were very smiley and very happy. They weren’t trying to be private as they were in a pretty public place, but they were talking to people around them, sitting closely and they both just seemed super happy.”
And, although an onlooker claimed that the couple were very careful when it came to a public display of affection, it’s believed they are now a proper item.
The source explained: “They are dating and it’s brand-new. It’s a good match and they are both interested in each other.”

DJ Mustard meanwhile leaves the city life behind for a minute to link up with Nick Jonas and get turnt up in front of a 1000 inch flat screen in the middle of nowhere for the clip to “Anywhere.” Where’d they find a receptacle for that TV out in the woods?

‘Fear the Walking Dead’: Morgan Helps Nick Find Peace

SPOILER ALERT: Warning, this article contains spoilers from the Season 4, Episode 3 of Fear the Walking Dead. Proceed at your own risk.

There are a lot of parallels between Nick and the Morgan from three or four seasons ago in The Walking Dead. Both spent a chunk of time being a solo savage on in the open, both took it so far they lost themselves, and both tried to right the ship by going into a self-prescribed exile — the season started with Morgan locking himself up in Jadis’ junkyard and Nick on a long stint of refusing to leave The Diamond.

“You try to do the right thing, and you end up doing the worst,” Nick tells his mother Madison in a flashback to when the Vultures still had The Diamond under siege. He went out hoping to help his mom find food, and when a mustachioed Vulture – and Charlie, who continues to stab the group in the back – arrive at their spot and take the supplies before them. Nick nearly kills the man.

Morgan notices early that they’re kindred spirits. After Al’s botched escape that dumps the SWAT truck into a ditch, everyone but Nick and Morgan head off on a mission find something to pull it out – a mission that only amounts to the two groups earning a bit of good will from each other – and the two left begin to bond. Nick offers Morgan half a protein bar after seeing the man’s sweet skills with a staff, and he secretly sees Al’s tape of Morgan’s story. The bonding comes to a screeching halt when the two see a blue Camino drive by – the same the mustachioed Vulture drove in the flashback – and Nick takes off after it.

The two end up in a small town, and take cover in a drugstore. Nick confronts Morgan about why he doesn’t kill – because almost every character has to at this point. He already knows the answer – “I lose people, and then I lose myself” – because he watched Al’s tape, but it doesn’t stop him from prying.

“You don’t kill, but I bet you did,” he tells Morgan. Morgan tries to talk him out of finding the man in the Camino, but Nick takes off to look over the town. He eventually finds the car, and the Vulture from the flashback. The man is surprised to see Nick, but Morgan – who stumbled across the man first, and was trying to get him to leave – stops him from killing the Vulture. The man heads off and Nick tells Morgan the only way to stop him is to kill him, so Morgan lets him go and Nick gets himself some sweet, bloody revenge.

“I know where you are Nick, because I was there,” Morgan tells a blood-soaked Nick after he kills the man. He brings up his time with Eastman, and lets Nick take his Art of Peace book. Morgan seems ready to pay-it-forward the way Eastman did for him.

Nick wanders off to read the book, and pulls a blue bonnet – picked from a field him and Madison found where she told him to try to find something good every time they leave The Diamond – from his pocket. He looks at peace, and seems ready to let Morgan help him. And that’s when Charlie shows up and shoots him in the chest.

Yep, the show’s new direction seems hell-bent on brushing a lot of aspects of what made FTWD interesting for three seasons – different time period, visually unique setting, it’s characters – under the rug as quickly as possible. Charlie shot Nick for killing the Vulture and runs off just as the others arrive with the SWAT truck. He dies choking on his own blood surrounded by his sister Alicia, Luci, and Strand.

The last scene cuts from his bloodied, dead body to one of him laying in a field of blue bonnets. Maybe Morgan helped him find peace after all.

Some unanswered questions:

– How long ago was the Vulture’s siege on The Diamond? The guy Nick kills seems genuinely shocked to see him.

– Where is Madison? Dead? Taken by the Vultures?

– Hopefully this week’s episode wasn’t Frank Dillane — one of the original cast member’s — last. If the season continues with flashbacks, he should still be around.

– Was there some chemistry between John and Luci?

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon ‘committed’ to co-parenting kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Mariah Carey is “fully committed” to co-parenting her twins with her former husband Nick Cannon.
The ‘We Belong Together’ hitmaker has six-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with her former spouse – whom she split from in 2014 and divorced in 2016 – and more than three years after the pair went their separate ways, sources say they’re still “hands-on parents”.
An insider said: “They are both fully committed to being the best parents they can be to the twins. Family is Mariah and Nick’s number one priority and they are such great, hands-on parents.”
And despite no longer being together, Mariah and Nick are “in a really good place together right now.”
The source added: “They call and text pretty frequently about the kids and it’s always direct. They don’t go through nannies or assistants.”
Mariah and the 37-year-old rapper took their brood to Nickelodeon’s 2018 Kids’ Choice Awards in Inglewood, California, on Saturday (24.03.18), and sources say the joint appearance is proof the pair put their children first.
The insider told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “Their appearance at the Kids’ Choice Awards is pretty emblematic of their relationship: putting the kids first.”
Despite still being close, the pair are not romantically involved, as Mariah is currently dating dancer Bryan Tanaka, and Nick – who also has 13-month-old son Golden with ex-girlfriend Brittany Bell – recently revealed he considers himself to be “in a relationship” with his music.
He said: “Comedy is my therapy, but music is my love.
“I’m in a relationship with music. I’m in no other relationship. Music is my girlfriend, my fiancé, [and] my wife. I’m dedicated to music.
“Therapy fixes people and cleanses people. Music doesn’t do that for me. Music makes me happy.”

Nick Offerman Is Down to Play Ron Swanson Again in ‘Parks and Rec’ Reunion

Paul Drinkwater/Shutterstock

AUSTIN, Texas — When the cast of Will & Grace reunited for a new batch of episodes late last year, Nick Offerman got to see up close and personal what it feels like to get the band back together, so to speak, on a beloved sitcom. Not only is his wife, Megan Mullally, one of the four stars of that show, but he also made a guest appearance as Jackson Boudreaux, the “Bad Boy of Bread.”

Offerman sat down with The Daily Beast in Austin, Texas, this week to talk about his new film, Hearts Beat Loud, which had just screened the night before at SXSW. We asked him whether that Will & Grace experience made him think any differently about the possibility of a Parks and Recreation reunion.

“They’re bringing every show back now, maybe they’ll want to bring our show back,” he says. “If that were ever to occur, it would be thanks to brains much larger than mine. Brains that I trust with my life. And so, if Mike Schur and Amy Poehler want to bring the show back and they think it’s a good idea, I will certainly sign on.”

Camila Cabello Almost Kissed Nick Jonas on New Year’s Eve

It might have been freezing cold in New York City when Camila Cabello performed her smash hit “Havana” on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, but the singer had plans that surely would’ve heated up the night.

During an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the late-night host discussed the singer’s New Year’s Eve performance at Times Square. Cabello, who’s first full album broke chart records on Jan. 12, revealed she was thinking about kissing Nick Jonas, who also performed at the televised event. “The ball was dropping, and I was like, ‘Am I gonna kiss Nick Jonas?’” she said referring to the tradition of kissing someone at the stroke of midnight.

Fans on Twitter also wanted the two to kiss during the telecast, with one fan tweeting that evening: “Okay am i the only one who wants @nickjonas and @Camila_Cabello to kiss?”

Cabello admitted to “chickening out” from smooching the Jonas brother but she still scored a kiss from another singer. Well, kind of. She said that Mariah Carey blew her an air-kiss, which left her swooning.

Even though she had a successful performance and spent the night surrounded by A-listers, the Cuban-American star still missed taking part in Latino New Year’s traditions with her family. “It’s kind of bittersweet, because when you go into the ball-drop thing, they don’t let you bring your family up with you,” said the former Fifth Harmony member. “During the ball-drop moment, Cuban people do this thing where we have 12 grapes and we eat them during the last 12 seconds when we make like a resolution or a wish for each grape that we eat … you’re like, good health, get a boyfriend.”

Nick Carter’s accuser inspired to speak by Harvey Weinstein scandal

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Carter’s sexual assault accuser was inspired to tell her story by the women who had come forward to speak about Harvey Weinstein.
Melissa Schuman, 33, claimed earlier this month that the Backstreet Boys star had forced her into having sex with him at his home in 2002, and has now revealed her decision to finally speak out came as a result of the multiple “brave” women who have alleged they were sexually harassed by disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein.
Speaking during an episode of ‘The Dr. Oz Show’ which will air on Friday (01.12.17), the former Dream singer said: “Well since the Harvey Weinstein allegations came out, it was a big trigger for me. I started to notice that I had kind of suppressed a lot of the memories for years with all these other brave women coming forward.
“I started to notice I had a lot of anxiety manifesting in my body. That was really making it hard for me to just carry on like every single day it was really impacting me mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.”
Melissa previously took to her personal blog to allege that Nick performed oral sex on her without her consent and then made her perform a reciprocal act on him.
Following that, Melissa – who was a virgin at the time – then claimed that Nick took her to his bedroom and had sex with her without her consent, with her repeatedly telling the pop star that she was saving herself for marriage.
She claimed the assault took place back in 2002 after he invited her to his Santa Monica home for a “casual hangout”, and admitted that she willingly shared a kiss with Nick after a “few shots” but did not want things to go any further.
Shortly after her blog post was published, Nick, 37, issued a statement in which he vehemently denied the allegations, and insisted anything that happened between them which was sexual was consensual.
He said: “I am shocked and saddened by Ms. Schuman’s accusations. Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual. We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally.
“This is the first that I am hearing about these accusations, nearly two decades later. It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm.”

Vanessa Grimaldi Says ‘It’s Okay to Feel Broken’ After Split from The Bachelor’s Nick Viall

Vanessa Grimaldi has spoke out for the first time since her split from Nick Viall.

“It’s okay to feel broken. It’s okay to cry,” she captioned an Instagram photo Monday of herself overlooking a pond while leaning on the shoulder of a friend.

“It’s okay to lean on a friend,” she continued. “In the end, it will always be okay.”

Viall, 36, and Grimaldi, 29, broke up Friday, five months after their proposal aired on ABC.

“It’s with a great amount of heartbreak for the both us as we have decided to end our engagement,” they said in a joint statement. “We gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairytale ending we hoped for. We will continue to be there for each other no matter what. This hasn’t been an easy decision, however, as we part ways, we do so with lots of love and admiration for each other.”

Viall appeared on two previous seasons of The Bachelorette and season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise before taking his turn as the lead suitor earlier this year. While he asserted he finally found the one, even before getting engaged, L.A.-based Viall and Canadian Grimladi struggled to decide where they would continue their relationship.

“I haven’t been able to go to Montreal outside of the show,” he previously told PEOPLE, adding that they weren’t rushing to plan their wedding. “I think we’re just focused on that right now. We’re very open about the fact that we have a long way to go and we’re excited about that journey.”

Following their split, a source close to the pair told PEOPLE that they were never on the same page.

“Their friends knew the relationship wouldn’t last,” said the source. “It was a mismatch from the start. She’s super fun, bubbly and outgoing and he’s more of a serious personality and more introverted. She would try to bring him out of his shell, but he’s just not as comfortable in big groups.”

Viall is handling the split “okay,” the source added. “It wasn’t an overnight decision, and they’re amicable.”

Nick Kroll And John Mulaney’s ‘Oh, Hello’ Is The Perfect Netflix Special

Netflix is home to a lot of comedy specials: Ali Wong, Aziz Ansari, Tracy Morgan, Maria Bamford, Jim Gaffigan, Louis C.K. ― they’ve all got one.

But, making their special extra special, comedians Nick Kroll and John Mulaney are bringing a different kind of routine to the streaming service this summer. That’s right, “Oh, Hello,” their sold-out Broadway play based on “Kroll Show” characters Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland, is headed for a screen near you.

If you’re unfamiliar with Gil and George’s schtick, just imagine the elderly muppets Statler and Waldorf come to life with a mission to prank (or, “prahnk”) people into eating enormous tuna sandwiches. They do so while hosting a public-access show, wearing a lot of turtlenecks and suffering from bagel-induced cholesterol.

If you’re versed in the improv-heavy antics of the “Oh, Hello” men, then you’re probably aware of how difficult it was to get your hands on a ticket to their comedy act on Broadway, which closed earlier this year after more than 100 performances. Kroll and Mulaney (who has a Netflix comedy special of his own) have actually been honing the characters since the early 2000s, long before the “Kroll Show” premiered on Comedy Central. But the duo has become particularly popular in recent years, as the comedians took their act to late-night show couches.

On Broadway, Kroll and Mulaney welcomed a slew of famous guests to their stage, including Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Whoopi Goldberg, Jerry Seinfeld and Amy Schumer. According to Playbill, the performances streaming on Netflix on June 13 will likely include footage from two taped performances that occurred on Jan. 19 and 20. If you know who the guests were, let us know!

R.I.P. “Kroll Show,” how we miss thee.

The Bachelor’s Kristina Schulman Says She’s Now ‘Come to Peace’ After Nick Viall Unexpectedly Sent Her Home

On Monday, Nick Viall came face-to-face with a handful of his ex-girlfriends during the Women Tell All episode of The Bachelor — including sweet Kristina Schulman, who Viall shockingly sent home during their trip to Bimini.

“I didn’t necessarily get the closure when I was getting sent home,” Schulman exclusively told PEOPLE at the February taping. “I was looking forward to the time that I would have on the Women Tell All to talk to him. In the time that I was sent home to now, I’ve come to my own conclusion. I’ve come to peace. Anything that he would’ve said during the Women Tell All made a difference because I was at peace.”

After a successful one-on-one date — where Schulman shared her emotional story of being a foster child in Russia and moving to the United States — the connection between the pair was undeniable. However, according to Viall, it wasn’t strong enough.

“I felt so strongly for Kristina,” Viall wrote in his blog. “She melted my heart in so many ways, but I just knew deep down I had stronger connections with the other women. I couldn’t stand the idea of taking Kristina further only for it not to work out. As hard as it would be to say goodbye to her now, it would have been 100 times harder for both of us if I took a leap and then said goodbye in another week.”

Though things didn’t work out between the two, Schulman is still open to finding love.

“Doing The Bachelor truly opened up my heart and my mind to the possibility of love,” she said. “It’s been about two years since my last relationship and I think in that time I was kind of closed off and reserved. I just got comfortable with myself. Taking this leap of the faith and being on the show and constantly talking about feelings and emotions, it was actually really therapeutic. I feel as if my heart is open. I’m very open to meeting that person.”

The Bachelor airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.

Why Kristina From ‘The Bachelor’ Still Thinks Nick Didn’t Give Her A Fair Shot

One of the most universally beloved contestants on Nick Viall’s season of “The Bachelor” was undoubtedly Kristina Schulman. The 24-year-old Kentucky dental hygienist won over Bachelor Nation when she spoke movingly about her childhood in Russia and her eventual adoption and emigration to the United States.

HuffPost’s Here To Make Friends podcast got a chance to speak with Kristina about how she ended up on the show, her take on all the Corinne-Taylor drama, what it was like to have her immigration story air during such a politically-charged moment, what it was like to be on a news blackout during election season, and why she might be taking a permanent break from margaritas.

She also explained that she still believes that Nick didn’t give her a fair chance. “Our time came so late,” she said. “And I’m the type of person to try it all before I really call it quits. And to this day I feel like I’m left with, ‘what if?,’ but I’ve come to terms with it.”

Take a listen below:

Do people love “The Bachelor,” “The Bachelorette” and “Bachelor in Paradise,” or do they love to hate these shows? It’s unclear. But here at “Here to Make Friends,” we both love and love to hate them — and we love to snarkily dissect each episode in vivid detail. Podcast edited by Nick Offenberg.

Judge Orders Nick Gordon To Pay $36 Million For Bobbi Kristina Brown Death

A judge in Atlanta ordered Bobbi Kristina Brown’s longtime boyfriend Nick Gordon to pay $ 36 million in damages to the Brown family estate more than a year after her tragic death, The Associated Press reported on Thursday.

In September, Gordon was found legally responsible for Bobbi Kristina’s death after the estate filed a $ 50 million wrongful death suit against him when he failed to appear in court.

Bobbi Kristina, singer Whitney Houston’s only daughter, was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her suburban Atlanta home after she had been in an altercation with Gordon, who allegedly put her in a bathtub and injected her with a “toxic cocktail” of drugs. She was placed in a medically induced coma, but succumbed to her injuries six months later at the age of 22.

The $ 36 million in damages includes $ 15 million for loss of life and potential future earnings, $ 13.8 million for pain and suffering, and various other charges relating to Gordon’s alleged intoxication and abusive behavior at the time of the incident, according to TMZ

“There was an urgent need, in my mind, to get justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown and that’s why I took the case. We intend to pursue, with all vigor, the full collection of the judgment,” attorney David Ware said in the statement, according to AP. “We hope that in some small way this will allow Krissy’s family to continue their quest for peace.”

Gordon, who has maintained his innocence since her death and did not have an attorney in the civil case, was absent from the court proceedings on Thursday. Bobbi Kristina’s father, Bobby Brown, and her half-sister were both in attendance and spoke on behalf of the deceased.

“She was an entertainer,” Bobby said at the hearing, according to The Daily News. “If you were around her, all you could do was laugh.”

The Huffington Post has reached out to the Brown family estate and will update the post accordingly.

Nick Kroll Tells His Embarassing Bill Murray Encounter

Sometimes meeting your idol isn’t as amazing as you’d hope it would be. Nick Kroll stopped by “The Tonight Show” on Friday and told Jimmy Fallon the story of his cringeworthy encounter with the legendary Bill Murray.

Kroll said that one night when he was set to perform at an open mic event, he got word that Bill Murray was in the building. Kroll, being a huge fan of the “Caddyshack” actor, approached Murray and asked him if he would watch his stand-up routine. When Murray agreed, Kroll couldn’t be more excited … until, that is, he totally bombed on stage, with Murray watching.

“I bombed harder than Kanye West at a Ray J CD release party,” Kroll said.

Celebrate Nick Lachey’s Birthday With His Most Awkward Moments

Happy birthday Nick Lachey!

Today, the 98 Degrees lead singer turns the big 4-0. Vanessa Minnillo’s beau has much to celebrate: the Package Tour (with his group, Boyz II Men and New Kids On The Block) was a huge summer success, his wife shares the same birthday as him and their son Camden turned one in September!

Lachey has come a long way since his ’90s boy band beginnings. Need proof? We dug up some of his most awkward moments in pop history to toast his milestone. Cheers, Nick!

Nick recently became a spokesperson of sorts for the new Wendy’s Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger. He even serenaded the sandwich with help from fans’ tweets for the #PretzelLoveSongs campaign. Well okay then.

Supporting a charity is cool (in this case it was Dance to Erase MS). Wearing silly outfits and making this face with your brother is not.

Remember when ex-wife Jessica Simpson forced Nick to taste test her Dessert Treats lotion line? The fact that the product launch was nontoxic is seriously troubling. Gag.

Holy moly. The stylist who chose this 2004 magazine cover ensemble needs to be fired.

Before E! made her a household name, Kim Kardashian briefly dated Nick. He admitted the romance was probably for her fame-climbing benefit.

Lachey experimented with his own album that debuted a decade ago. It was decent and everything, but the title “SoulO” is cringeworthy.

After going solo, Nick confused himself with Justin Timberlake. Yes your dick is in a box but where’s the effort? You’re not JT’s R&B alter ego Raif. Nice try though.
