Elon Musk says the Model 3 represents Tesla’s last ‘bet the company’ initiative

Elon Musk

In a wide-ranging interview with Bloomberg, Tesla CEO Elon Musk explained that the Model 3 represents the last “bet-the-company” initiative we can expect to see from the automaker. Recall, everything Tesla has done up to this point has been to hasten the release of the Model 3, the mass market EV Elon Musk initially promised us more than a decade ago when he penned his now-famous “Secret Tesla Motors Master Plan” back in August of 2006.

‘I Probably Am the Person Referred to’ in Russian Hacking Indictment, Says Trump Adviser Roger Stone

Roger Stone late Friday acknowledged that he is likely the unnamed American referred to in an indictment of 12 Russian hackers issued by the Justice Department Thursday. Stone is not implicated in the hackers’ theft of Democratic emails, but appears to be one of several Americans whose interactions with the alleged hackers are detailed in the new indictment.

Stone, speaking to CNN’s Chris Cuomo, said “I certainly had a 24 word exchange with the persona Guccifer 2.0 over Twitter direct messages . . . I probably am the person referred to.”

The indictment (which can be read in full at Vox) accuses 12 members of the Russian GRU agency with hacking against staffers and infrastructure of the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. Those documents were then publicized by two online channels, a site called DCLeaks and a persona known as Guccifer 2.0.

Around August 15 of 2016, while “posing as Guccifer 2.0,” the hackers “wrote to a person who was in regular contact with senior members of the presidential campaign of Donald J. Trump,” according to the indictment. The exchange, recounted in paragraph 44 of the indictment, matches a known Twitter interaction with Stone, in which “Guccifer 2.0” praised Stone as a “great man” and offered to help Stone and the Trump campaign.

Get Data Sheet, Fortune’s technology newsletter.

Stone, an occasionally close Trump adviser and heir to the Roy Cohn/Richard Nixon school of political ‘dirty tricks,’ has previously confirmed the interaction with Guccifer 2.0. But he reiterated to Cuomo on Friday that the interaction was “benign” and “innocuous,” and the known interaction does not contain evidence of cooperation between Guccifer 2.0 and the Trump campaign.

However, there are hints that the interaction may not have ended on Twitter. A few weeks later, Stone wrote on Twitter that “it will soon [be] Podesta’s time in the barrel,” implying foreknowledge of the planned schedule of email leaks – though Stone has claimed that was merely a coincidence. Stone also praised Guccifer 2.0 as “a hero,” however, and wrote an article for Breitbart.com arguing that Guccifer 2.0 was not linked to Russia.

In his conversation with Cuomo, Stone continued to hedge on the question of whether Guccifer 2.0 was in fact a Russian front, emphasizing that the new indictment consists of allegations rather than proven facts. In the face of near-universal consensus among U.S. intelligence agencies on Guccifer 2.0’s links to the GRU, Stone’s denials may suggest anxiety about future findings by Robert Mueller’s investigation. And it certainly reflects his often-repeated modus operandi: “Admit nothing. Deny everything. Launch counter-attack.”

Sarah Palin Says Sacha Baron Cohen Tricked Her Into a Fake Interview for His New Show

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin took to Facebook Tuesday to let Sacha Baron Cohen know exactly how angry she feels about being duped for his new prank TV series.

Palin, who sat down with her daughter for an interview with Cohen, is outraged that the comedian, along with Showtime and CBS Corp., pretended to tap her for a “legit Showtime historical documentary.”

“Yup – we were duped. Ya got me, Sacha. Feel better now?” Palin posted. “I join a long list of American public personalities who have fallen victim to the evil, exploitive, sick ‘humor’ of the British ‘comedian’ Sacha Baron Cohen, enabled and sponsored by CBS/Showtime.”

Cohen, of Borat and Ali G fame, prank interviewed Palin for his upcoming show Who Is America?, which premieres on Showtime Sunday, July 15 at midnight, but will regularly air at 10 p.m ET. He reportedly filmed numerous interviews with well-known politicians and public figures for the prank series, including former Vice President Dick Cheney, who was convinced to sign a “waterboard kit” on camera.

“[M]y daughter and I were asked to travel across the country where Cohen (I presume) had heavily disguised himself as a disabled US Veteran, fake wheelchair and all,” Palin wrote on her Facebook post. “Out of respect for what I was led to believe would be a thoughtful discussion with someone who had served in uniform, I sat through a long ‘interview’ full of Hollywoodism’s disrespect and sarcasm – but finally had enough and literally, physically removed my mic and walked out, much to Cohen’s chagrin.”

Matt Drudge, editor of the Drudge Report, tweeted out a list of names of the other public figures Cohen has supposedly pranked for the show, including Sen. Bernie Sanders and Ted Koppel.

Cohen himself recently tweeted out two teaser videos for the new series. One begins, “Imagine if Sacha Baron Cohen had been undercover secretly filming a new show for a year…” followed by a montage of various images. Cohen’s voice off camera then asks Cheney, who is on camera, “Dick Cheney is it possible to sign my waterboard kit?”

Cheney agrees saying, “Sure…that’s the first time I’ve ever signed a waterboard.”

Cohen’s other teaser video on Twitter is titled “A Message From Donald J. Trump.” It starts off with footage of President Donald Trump insulting Cohen. “This 3rd rate character named Sacha Baron Cohen, I only wish that he would have been punched in the face so many times right now, he’d be in a hospital,” Trump says in the video. “It was disgraceful he oughta be fired immediately. Sacha Baron Cohen go to school, learn about being funny. You don’t’ know sh*t.”

The video ends with a Trump University logo.

Both videos have been viewed more than 1 million times.

Palin challenged Cohen in her Facebook post to donate the money he’s made from the new show to veterans, after she said he disguised himself as one.

“The challenge is to Cohen, CBS and Showtime: donate all proceeds to a charitable group that actually respects and supports American Vets,” she wrote. “Mock politicians and innocent public personalities all you want, if that lets you sleep at night, but HOW DARE YOU mock those who have fought and served our country. Truly sick.”

Showtime CEO David Nevins praised Cohen for his work on the series.

“He is the premier provocateur of our time, but not for the sake of ‘gotcha’ moments,” according to CBS News. “Behind the elaborate setup is a genuine quest for the truth about people, places and politics.”

Google would like you to know that no one is reading your emails on Gmail without your permission. While that may be true, things aren’t that simple.

After a Wall Street Journal report (published Monday) described how third-party developers might be reading your emails on Gmail, Google on Tuesday responded with a blog post, describing the measures the company takes to ensure your security and privacy within the service.

The post, signed by Suzanne Frey, Director of Security, Trust and Privacy at Google Cloud, admits that Google allows third party developers to access your Gmail messages, but only if you’ve granted them permission, and only after they pass a strict review process.  Read more…

Elle Fanning says playing Mary Shelley was a unique challenge

OHMYGOSSIP — Elle Fanning admits playing Mary Shelley proved to be a unique challenge.
The 20-year-old actress stars as the iconic writer – who is best known for her Gothic novel ‘Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus’ – in the period-drama about Shelley’s life, and Elle has revealed how the movie-making process has changed her outlook on life.
She confessed: “I felt like Mary Shelley taught me how to be a woman in a way. I don’t know, [she taught me] a little bit of womanhood.”
Despite this, Elle admitted it was a challenge having to play Shelley, because there was no audio or video footage to guide her performance.
The novelist was born in 1797 and so even though she’s one of the world’s most revered literary figures, Elle didn’t have many points of reference while making the movie.
Speaking to ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she shared: “Definitely a challenge because you can’t look like a painting of her. There’s not a video of the way she moves or the way she talks.
“It’s also a love story, you know? I also think it’s a relationship of people who relate to one another that’s messy and not perfect.”
Meanwhile, Elle previously revealed she considers the movie to be a milestone in her life because it was the last film she made before graduating from high school.
She explained: “When I filmed the movie, I was 17, about to turn 18.
“This was the last movie that I had to do school on the set. It was a milestone movie for me. I really felt wiser and more mature after.”

New study says last year’s record-breaking Bitcoin price was actually a fraud

Bitcoin Price Today

The bears are firmly in control of the cryptocurrency market, as Bitcoin and all the other coins have been on a free fall since Sunday. All tokens have been losing value consistently since late May, and there’s no telling when the bleeding will stop.

More disturbing, a new study now claims that Bitcoin’s incredible bull run last year was the result of manipulation via the use of a different token called Tether, which has seen its own share of controversies since its emergence.

‘He Had Everything.’ Anthony Bourdain’s Mother Says She Never Thought He Would Commit Suicide

Anthony Bourdain’s mother has expressed shock and sadness over the death of her son in an interview with the New York Times.

“He is absolutely the last person in the world I would have ever dreamed would do something like this,” Gladys Bourdain, who was an editor at the Times for years, told the newspaper.

Bourdain, the renowned chef and author whose storytelling and traveling influenced others and embraced different cultures, died this week in an apparent suicide. He was 61 years old.

“He had everything,” his mother told the Times. “Success beyond his wildest dreams. Money beyond his wildest dreams.”

Gladys Bourdain told the Times that Eric Ripert, a French chef and close friend of her son’s, told her that Bourdain “had been in a dark mood these past couple of days.”

Bourdain’s death shocked and saddened the world this week as fans and friends of his expressed the impact he had on their lives and the influential role he had in the restaurant industry. Restaurant owners and chefs who he visited in his variety of TV shows point to him as a reason for their growing success, and fans took to social media to express how he used his platform to convey empathy and understanding.

Bourdain’s suicide followed that of Kate Spade, an influential fashion designer who had died in an apparent suicide at age 55, and came at a time when the rates of suicide were on the rise across the U.S. Mental health professionals advised people to reach out and support friends or loved ones who may be struggling, and learn to identify warning signs like depression or changes in behavior, among other behaviors.

The deaths of two influential figures in their respective fields have also provoked conversations about how successful people are not immune depression, mental health issues or suicide. TIME’s Belinda Luscombe detailed this in a piece, where she examined the deaths of Bourdain and Kate Spade, the influential fashion designer who had died by an apparent suicide days earlier. “Many lives are not as they appear. Happiness is not the end result of a sum of accomplishments,” Luscombe writes. “The person whose wealth/wardrobe/job/talent you wish you had has his or her own struggles, and they could at least equal our own.”

If you or someone you know may be contemplating suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

Trump Says He Might Pardon Boxing Legend Muhammad Ali. What Did Ali Do?

President Donald Trump is considering pardoning Muhammad Ali, the legendary boxer who died in 2016 at the age of 74.

Ali, born Cassius Clay, is best known today as one of the greatest athletes to ever step foot inside a boxing ring. But he was also an outspoken activist whose conscientious objection to serving in the Vietnam War would see him lose the heavyweight title and be effectively barred from his sport for over three years.

“I can’t take part in nothing,” Ali later said of his decision, “where I’d help the shooting of dark Asiatic people, who haven’t lynched me, deprived me of my freedom, justice and equality, or assassinated my leaders.”

In 1967, Ali was convicted of draft evasion, sentenced to five years in prison and fined $ 10,000. However, he remained free while he appealed his case. The Supreme Court in 1971 unanimously overturned Ali’s conviction, which leaves unclear whether a pardon is necessary or even possible. “There is no conviction from which a pardon is needed,” the late Ali’s attorney said in a statement Friday.

Trump pardoning Ali would be a break from his posture toward modern-day athletes who make their political opinions known on and off the field. The President has been particularly critical of National Football League players who have knelt during the national anthem to protest racism and police violence. (Trump also recently pardoned late boxer Jack Johnson, who was convicted on what many saw as racist grounds.)

Trump himself never served in Vietnam, having received several deferments for education and medical reasons.

Here’s more on the history of Ali’s conscientious objection, from TIME’s obituary written by Sean Gregory:

He would lose much more — the prime years of his career. In January 1964, Ali took the military qualifying examination. But his mental aptitude score was below the minimum requirement to be drafted. “I said I was the greatest, not the smartest,” he quipped. With the Vietnam War escalating, however, the military lowered the minimums. So in February of 1966, Ali was reclassified 1-A. His request for a deferment would be denied. When reporters hounded him for his reaction, Ali uttered words that would make him a national pariah, while at the same framed the debate about America’s role in the Vietnam conflict. “Man, I ain’t got no quarrel with them Vietcong.”

Ali voiced his contempt for American policy before the anti-war movement gained steam. Newspaper editorial writers called Ali “the most disgusting character in memory to appear on the sports scene” and the “bum of all time.” The governor of Illinois labeled Ali as “disgusting,” while the governor of Maine said Ali “should be held in utter contempt by every patriotic American.” Ali next fight, against Ernie Terrell, was scheduled for Chicago in late March of 1966, but the Chicago Tribune urged the Illinois State Athletic Commission to cancel the bout. The state caved to the political pressure, and few other cities wanted any part of Ali: the Terrell fight was eventually moved to Toronto, though by this point Terrell himself backed out (a Canadian, George Chuvalo, filled in and actually went the distance with Ali before losing a one-sided decision). Media and politicians called for a boycott of the fight. “The heavyweight champion of the world turns my stomach,” said Frank Clark, a congressman from Pennsylvania.

By refusing to join the military, Ali was costing himself millions in endorsement money. Still, he didn’t flinch. “The white man want me hugging on a white women, or endorsing some whiskey, or some skin bleach, lightening the skin when I’m promoting black as best,” Ali told Sports Illustrated in 1966. “They want me advertising all this stuff that’d make me rich but hurt so many others. But by me sacrificing a little wealth I’m helping so many others. Little children can come by and meet the champ. Little kids in the alleys and slums of Florida and New York, they can come and see me where they never could walk up on Patterson and Liston. Can’t see them n—–s when they come to town! So the white man see the power in this. He see that I’m getting away with the Army backing offa me . . .They see who’s not flying the flag, not going in the Army; we get more respect.”

Ali filed for status as a conscientious objector to the Vietnam War, on the grounds that his religion prevented him from “participating in wars on the side of nonbelievers, and this is a Christian country, not a Muslim country. We are not, according to the Holy Qur’an, to even as much as aid in passing a cup of water to the wounded.” His conscientious objector claim bounced around the court system until April 28th, 1967, when Ali was to be inducted into the U.S. Army, in Houston. When the name “Cassius Marcellus Clay” was called out at the induction hearing, Ali refused to step forward. Ali was now facing a give-year prison sentence. He was immediately stripped of his titles and boxing licenses: Ali, 25, would not fight for another three-and-a-half years. “I can’t take part in nothing,” he’d later say, “where I’d help the shooting of dark Asiatic people, who haven’t lynched me, deprived me of my freedom, justice and equality, or assassinated my leaders.”

Exile – And Return

In June of 1967, Ali was convicted of draft evasion and given a five-year sentence. Though the appeals process kept him out of jail, no one let him back in the ring. “I canvassed 27 states tying to get him a license to fight,” Howard Conrad, one of Ali’s promoters, told TIME years later. “I even tried to set up a fight in a bullring across the border from San Diego, and they wouldn’t let him leave the country. Overnight he became a n—-r again. He threw his life away on one toss of the dice for something he believed in. Not many folks do that.”

While Ali was in exile, the man who struggled with reading, who finished ranked near the bottom of his high school class, made $ 2,500 a pop lecturing on college campuses (he also tried his hand at a Broadway musical, and received surprisingly positive reviews). “We’ve been brainwashed,” Ali said in one speech. “Everything good is supposed to be white. We look at Jesus, and we see a white with blond hair and blue eyes. Now, I’m sure there’s a heaven in the sky and colored folks die and go to heaven. Where are the colored angels? They must be in the kitchen preparing milk and honey. We look at Miss America, we see white. We look at Miss World, we see white. We look at Miss Universe, we see white. Even Tarzan, the king of the jungle in black Africa, he’s white. White Owl Cigars. White Swan soap. White Cloud tissue paper, White Rain hair rinse, White Tornado floor wax. All the good cowboys ride the white horses and wear white hats. Angel food cake is the white cake, but the devils food cake is chocolate. When are we going to wake up as a people and end the lie that white is better than black?”

As the 1960s drew to a close, Americans turned against the Vietnam War, elevating Ali’s popularity. And during an era when the government was giving false scores when it came to Vietnam, people knew that Ali was spouting truths, as he saw them. You might not agree with him, but you respected him. “I think Muhammad’s actions contributed enormously to the debate about whether the United States should be in Vietnam and galvanized some of his admirers to join the protests against the war for the first time,” the late Sen. Edward Kennedy told Hauser. “I respect the fact that he never backed down from his beliefs, that he took the consequences of refusing induction, and endured the loss of his title until after his conviction was reversed.” Ali told The Mirror newspaper of Great Britain, during a 2001 interview: “My refusal to go to Vietnam did not just help the black people, it helped more white people. More whites rebelled against Nam. It made me a hero to many white people as well as black people because I had the nerve to challenge the system, and all the people who hate injustice backed me for that.”

With Ali’s stature as a political and social force growing, the time was ripe to reassert his greatness in the ring. Since Georgia had no state boxing bureaucracy, Ali was able to secure his first fight in Atlanta, the deep South, against Jerry Quarry, a white man, on October 26, 1970. In the build up to the fight, Ali himself shied away from the anti-white rhetoric he sometimes employed at the height of his Nation of Islam allegiance. But he knew the fight had social consequences.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson, who was hanging around Ali’s camp in suburban Atlanta the day of the fight, laid them out for author George Plimpton, who was on assignment for Sports Illustrated: “If Cassius loses tonight, [vice president Spiro] Agnew could hold a news conference tomorrow,” Jackson said. “Symbolically, it would suggest that the forces of blind patriotism are right, that dissent is wrong, that protest means you don’t love the country . . . They tried to railroad him. They refused to believe his testimony about his convictions and his religion. They wouldn’t let him practice his profession. They tried to break his spirit and his body. Martin Luther King has a song:‘Truth crushed to the earth will rise again.’ That’s the black ethos. With Cassius Clay all we had was the hope, the psychological longing for his return. And it happened! In Georgia, of all places, and against a white man . . .So there are tremendous social implications. It doesn’t mean Quarry is a villain. But the focus has to be on Clay. He’s a hero, and he carries the same mantle that Joe Louis did against Max Schmeling, or Jesse Owens when he ran in Hitler’s Berlin. Injustice! In Atlanta, I have never sensed such electricity, such expectation in the streets. For the downtrodden, they need the high example – that their representatives, the symbol of their own difficulties, will win. Is that illogical?”

Quarry was gone in the third round. Ali’s fight style changed when he returned to the ring. His hands got soft, so he had to numb them before he got in the ring. Ali developed some fat, but his muscles were broader as well. With the time off, his legs weakened a bit. So he was no longer quick enough to dodge most punches thrown at him. “When he lost his legs, he lost his first line of defense,” Ferdie Pacheco, Ali’s long-time fight doctor, said in Muhammad Ali: His Life And Times. “That was when he discovered something which was both very good and very bad. Very bad in that it led to the physical damage he suffered later in his career; very good in that is eventually got him back the championship. He discovered he could take a punch.”

While Ali was suspended, a young heavyweight from Philadelphia, like Ali a former Olympic champion, claimed Ali’s crown: Joe Frazier. Ali wanted a title bout with Smokin’ Joe. A federal court ruled that New York’s denial of a ring license to Ali was “arbitrary and unreasonable,” since Ali’s lawyers gave the court a list of ninety convicted murderers, rapists, sodomites, armed thieves, and other miscreants who had been allowed to fight in the state. So six weeks after the Quarry fight, Ali returned to New York City in December, and survived a punishing fight against Oscar Bonavena, whom he finally beat in the 15th round. The stage was now set: Ali-Frazier, March 8, 1971, New York City, Madison Square Garden, Broadway. Ali was about to embark on the second act of a fight career that, given its captivating effect on the world — from the Americas, to Africa to the furthest reaches of Asia — would somehow exceed the first.

Kate Spade Suffered From Depression, Her Husband Says

(AP Photo/Bebeto Matthews)

NEW YORK (AP) — The husband and business partner of designer Kate Spade, who died in an apparent suicide, said she suffered from depression and anxiety for many years.

She was seeking help during the last five years, “seeing a doctor on a regular basis and taking medication for both depression and anxiety,” Andy Spade said in a statement released on Wednesday.

He said there were “personal demons she was battling.”

The designer was found hanged in the bedroom of her Park Avenue apartment on Tuesday. She was 55 years old and had a 13-year-old daughter.

Spade was working as an accessories editor at Mademoiselle magazine when she launched her company with her husband in their apartment in 1993.

Andy Spade, the brother of comedian David Spade, said she “sounded happy” the night before her suicide.

“There was no indication and no warning that she would do this,” he said. “It was a complete shock.”

He said he and his wife had been living separately for the past 10 months but saw each other or spoke every day. He said they were not legally separated and never discussed divorce.

Coach, now known as Tapestry, bought the Kate Spade brand last year for $ 2.4 billion. The couple recently had started a new handbag company, Frances Valentine.

“We were best friends trying to work through our problems in the best way we knew how,” Andy Spade said.

Kate Spade’s Sister Says She Feared Damaging Her Image by Admitting Depression

Donald Bowers

Kate Spade refused to get treatment for her debilitating depression, which she had endured for years, fearing the stigma of mental illness would affect her “happy-go-lucky” image, the fashion icon’s sister said in emails sent to her local Kansas City Star newspaper.

Spade is said to have killed herself at her Park Avenue condo Tuesday morning, after leaving a suicide note. Spade was found unconscious by her housekeeper “hanging from a red scarf tied to a doorknob,” The New York Times reported. The housekeeper called 911 and Spade was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:26 a.m. Police confirmed Spade had left a note, but “did not comment on what it said.” TMZ reports the note was addressed to her 13-year-old daughter telling her not to blame herself.

Spade’s sister, Reta Saffo, told her local newspaper that Spade had been obsessed with the suicide of Robin Williams and believes her plan to kill herself may have started taking shape as she obsessively watched reports of his suicide.

White House Says Philadelphia Eagles ‘Unable’ to Attend Super Bowl Celebration Because They ‘Disagree’ With Trump on the National Anthem

A newly released statement by the White House on Tuesday says that the full Philadelphia Eagles team is “unable” to attend the White House celebration honoring their Super Bowl LII win over the New England Patriots.

The statement says that the Eagles “disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem,” and that the 1,000 fans who are planning to attend the event “deserve better.”

Championship NFL teams traditionally visit the White House for an annual event honoring their Super Bowl win. But this year the on-going controversy over whether NFL players can kneel during the National Anthem has engulfed the league in a political firestorm.

A national debate about athletes standing during the anthem began last year when former San Francisco 49’s quarterback Colin Kaepernick became the first NFL athlete to kneel during the anthem to protest the treatment of racial minorities in the U.S. Kapernick’s gesture started a movement that saw other NFL players and athletes begin to kneel as well.

President Donald Trump has previously expressed his disdain towards athletes who kneel during the anthem, tweeting about it numerous times, but the White House celebration for the Eagles was scheduled as usual.

The controversy was reignited again in May, when the NFL announced its decision to fine teams if players choose to kneel during the anthem, a move that the NFL Players Association has said it will challenge.

Some Eagles players had already said they would skip the White House celebration, citing the president’s vocal criticism of players who choose to kneel. The players who originally declined to attend are Malcom Jenkins, Torrey Smith and Chris Long.

Shaunie O’Neal Says She Will NOT Be Attending Gloria Govan and Derek Fisher’s Wedding [Video]

Shaunie O’Neal has enough drama in her life with the return of VH1’s Basketball Wives, and it looks like she’ll be saving herself from any extra drama by skipping Gloria Govan & Derek Fisher’s wedding.

via TMZ:

Derek & Shaq won 3 rings together as Lakers and were tight bros, so one might assume Shaunie could possibly want to attend the nuptials.

Hell no. We got Shaunie at LAX and asked her if she plans on attending, and if the words out of her mouth didn’t tell the whole story, the look on her face CLEARLY did.

“No, I don’t so. No, I don’t think I’ll be going to that.”

If you didn’t know, the ladies have deep issues, stemming from Shaunie’s belief that Gloria’s sister, Laura, was messing around with Shaq while Shaunie was married to the Diesel.

It led to a HUGE blowup on a past episode of ‘Basketball Wives’ where Shaunie confronted Gloria … and it’s clear the whole thing isn’t water under the bridge.

We’re not sure whether it’ll be chicken or fish at the wedding … but, in this case … it’s clearly beef.

Tristan Thompson Says NBA Finals Situation Was ‘Bulls— t’

Sorry, he’s not sorry. Tristan Thompson’s fate for Game 2 of the NBA finals has yet to be determined, but Khloé Kardashian’s basketball beau knows one thing for sure — he does not regret acting out after Golden State Warriors star Shaun Livingston shot the ball with 2.6 seconds left in overtime of the game.

“Maybe he was trying to increase his points per game. I don’t know,” the 27-year-old told reporters in the locker room on Thursday, May 31, after the game in a video shared by Sports Illustrated. “That was some bullshit, but I just needed to contest.”

The Cleveland Cavaliers were down by eight when Livingston took his shot, which resulted in a flagrant two foul on Thompson after he put his elbow in Livingston’s face. Per NBA rules, Thompson was ejected from the game, but before he left the court, he shoved the ball in Draymond Green’s face.

The two men appeared to exchange insults, and a bigger fight ensued. Fans on social media were quick to joke that Green made a comment to Thompson about Kardashian, whom Us Weekly confirmed he cheated on with multiple women during her pregnancy. (The 33-year-old reality star gave birth to their daughter, True, on April 12, two days after the initial cheating allegations surfaced.)

Thompson still faces a possible suspension from Game 2 of the NBA Finals, which is set for Sunday, June 3, for the fight after his ejection. An NBA source told ESPN on Friday, June 1, that the league is “still reviewing” the situation.

A source confirmed to Us Weekly earlier this month that Thompson and Kardashian are “fully back together” after the cheating drama. However, another source told Us on Wednesday, May 30, that the NBA pro was “emotionally and physically exhausted” from a combination of the cheating allegations and the NBA playoffs.

Kardashian, for her part, is doing “great,” according to Kris Jenner. The momager told Us Weekly on Thursday that her daughter will be back home in Los Angeles “soon.”

Spotify CEO Says Anti-Hate Policy Was Rolled Out Incorrectly

NEW YORK (AP) — Spotify’s CEO says the company rolled out its new anti-hate policy in the wrong way.

This month the streaming service announced it would remove R. Kelly and rapper XXXtentacion’s music from its playlists, citing the new policy on hate content and hateful conduct.

While some praised Spotify for its bold move, others criticized the company for singling out particular artists, and requested Spotify also apply the rules for others who have been charged sexual misconduct and violence.

“We rolled this out wrong and could have done a much better job,” Daniel Ek said at the Code Conference on Wednesday in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

Spotify targeted R. Kelly because of the multitude of claims that he sexually abused women. The Grammy winner was acquitted in 2008 of child pornography after a video circulated appearing to show him having sex with a teenage girl. He faces no new charges.

XXXtentacion, who had a Top 10 pop hit with “Sad!” and saw his sophomore album reach No. 1 this month, is awaiting trial on charges that he beat up his pregnant girlfriend.

“The whole goal with this was to make sure that we didn’t have hate speech,” Ek said. “It was never about punishing one individual artist or even naming one individual artist.”

Colin Kaepernick‘scollusion case against the NFL has taken an extreme turn after his lawyer dropped a potential bombshell of information. Mark Geragos says that at least one team owner testified under oath that President Donald Trump’s comments about Kaepernick’s protests prevented the free agent quarterback’s signing.

Sports Illustrated reports:

Attorney Mark Geragos told the “Straight Aim” podcast Tuesday that the unidentified owner’s testimony proves collusion.

“In this civil case, there’s no doubt that the existing coaches — and I’m talking about Super Bowl-winning coaches — have testified under oath that he’s a starting quarterback in this league, and so that’s mind boggling,” Geragos said. “When you ask them … specifically why he isn’t he being hired … they say because of the national anthem policy.

The only reason — and the owners will admit that — they haven’t signed him is they’re afraid of Trump, and they’ve colluded because of Trump,” Geragos added.

Geragos reiterated the news on CNN Wednesday night (5/30) according to a ProFootballTalk report that a witness may step forward and “dime out the NFL” although he wouldn’t elaborate on when it will happen.

Over the past few years, Tesla’s Model S hasn’t had to deal with much competition. Sure, there are more affordable EVs available from the likes of Chevy, but we’ve yet to see an all-electric luxury car hit the market and truly give the Model S a run for its money. Set to go on sale sometime in 2019, the Mission E not only looks incredibly sleek, but it boasts some truly jaw-dropping specs as well. Sporting a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds, the Mission E has a top speed in excess of 155 MPH and can go for 310 miles on a single charge. Moreover, Uew Michael of Porsche recently said that the Mission E will be able to charge twice as fast as a Tesla. Specifically, the Mission E can reportedly charge to 80% in just 15 minutes.

#MeToo Founder Tarana Burke Says Harvey Weinstein Arrest Is A Big Win For Survivors

Before fallen movie mogul Harvey Weinstein rolled up to the New York City Police Department Friday morning to turn himself in, Tarana Burke, the founder of the #Me Too movement, said his arrest on sexual assault charges represents a shift in the movement to change how sexual violence is handled.

“This moves from the court of public opinion into an actual courtroom,” Burke told Variety. “That is super cathartic for a bunch of the survivors, or even survivors who are not necessarily victimized by him.”

Weinstein was charged with rape and a criminal sex act on two women after surrendering to authorities on Friday at about 7:30 a.m.

The rape charge involves a woman not previously named publicly, while the sex abuse charge stems from a complaint made by actress Lucia Evans. In an interview with The New Yorker, Evans alleged that in 2004, the producer made her engage in oral sex.

“I said, over and over, ‘I don’t want to do this, stop, don’t,’” she told the outlet. “I tried to get away, but maybe I didn’t try hard enough. I didn’t want to kick him or fight him.”

She didn’t report the incident to the police at the time, telling The New Yorker that she blamed herself for not fighting back.

“It was always my fault for not stopping him,” she said.

Weinstein rolled up to the NYPD precinct in a black SUV and said nothing as paps and news crews swarmed around him. He was wearing a blue V-neck sweater with a blazer and dress pants for his fingerprinting and mug shot.

Weinstein carried several books with him inside, one of which was “Something Wonderful: Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Broadway Revolution” by Todd S. Purdum.

Multiple women have accused Weinstein of sexual harassment, sexual assault or rape, while more than 50 women have accused him of misconduct.

To see him face charges, Burke said, is almost unbelievable.

“I was surprised,” she said, adding that she’s happy for victims of Weinstein, with whom she said she has been in touch.

The NFL Says No Kneeling? Take a Stand [Opinion]

So, let me get this straight. We have now decided to be a country where the right to bear arms is protected and vigorously defended— even when our children and their teachers are being routinely mowed down by guns in our schools. But the right to kneel in silent, respectful protest at a sporting event is a punishable offense? This is who we are?

As NFL players whisper to sports reporters about new forms of protest being hatched in the wake of Wednesday’s league vote to fine teams whose players kneel during the national anthem, there has been no backstepping on the decision. Even though it’s been slammed by legions of fans, civil rights advocates, and much of the media, the new policy stands.

According to a broadly published statement by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the move was designed to “keep our focus on the game and the extraordinary athletes who play it—and on our fans who enjoy it.”

Really? How’s that working out?

Note to the NFL: The Battle for Civil Rights Trumps Your Game

NFL owners, who apparently have deep concerns about where we all place our focus, reportedly agreed to this policy unanimously—even though some owners subsequently admitted they would just pay the fines, if necessary. What does that say about the NFL? And what does it say if we who consume the game don’t find a way to show them just how focused we can be—and where our focus must be if we have any chance at healing this incredibly divided nation?

Note to Goodell, all 32 franchise owners, and the powers they are clearly bowing to in the White House: No game, sports league, or song is more important than the very real social, political, racial, and economic issues that plague this country. If you truly respected the “extraordinary athletes” who care deeply enough about these issues to kneel during the anthem, you would respect their choice to do so.

The no-kneeling policy is an act of cowardice. The owners—all extremely wealthy and all white men, except two—could seize this opportunity to lead. Instead, they have refused to embrace their players (70% of whom are black, according to The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport) and help the broad community of NFL fans confront the issues that prompted athletes—led by former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick—to kneel in the first place.

The players have been offered the option of staying in the locker room as opposed to taking the field (even though Donald Trump told Fox and Friends on Thursday that those who don’t want to stand for the anthem “shouldn’t be in the country.”).

This new policy does more than seek to shove their protest underground; it chooses to prioritize and protect the game at the cost of shining a light on larger concerns about where our culture is headed, about what is unfair, unequal, and unjust in our society, and what can be done about it.

There Are Cancers in Our Culture; We Are the Cure

In the midst of a critical period defined by movements such as #BlackLivesMatter, #MeToo, #Enough, and #TimesUp, all aimed at driving hidden cancers in our culture into the light, how is #TakeaKnee any less deserving of our vigilant support? “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” said Martin Luther King Jr. These movements are not unrelated. Think about it: Is the NFL’s response so different from school administrators who threatened to expel students for participating in the post-Parkland, Florida, massacre walk-outs?

Kneeling can mean a lot of things, but it is part of a universal language that the whole world understands. We kneel to pray, to plead, and to pay homage. We kneel in gratitude and in servitude. We kneel in anguish, in humility, and in hope. Regardless of what drives us to our knees, never has doing so been condemned as an act of disrespect. Until now. And like so much about our country in recent years, this response—exemplified by this policy—seems unreasonable at best and, at worst, unconscionable.

Admittedly, I am not a football fan. I watch the Super Bowl mainly for the commercials and half-time show. I understand that for fans, there is much more at stake here. But I lead a brand that encourages women to own their power, and fans have power too.

Another great King quote says, “Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice.” A few players have been brave enough to make like King and take a knee in the interest of justice. When will those who love the game do the same and take a stand?

FDA Says Claims About Sunscreen Pills Could Burn Sun Worshippers

Bathing suit? Check. Beach towel? Got it. Sunscreen? Absolutely — but you may want to heed this new warning first.

The Food and Drug Administration is cautioning sun worshipers that a pill marketed to keep them safe from damaging rays actually could put them at risk.

Not to mention waste their money.

The agency this week warned four companies to stop advertising sunscreen pills and capsules as effective in preventing sunburn. FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb says the companies are misleading consumers and putting people at risk of harmful sun exposure.

“The FDA has not approved any pill for the claims these companies are making, so that should be a red flag,” said Theresa Eisenman, an FDA spokeswoman. “There’s no pill or capsule that can replace your sunscreen.”

At $ 25 to $ 50 a bottle, the pills are also pricy — especially if they don’t work.

The warning comes just in time for “Don’t Fry Day,” the Friday before the unofficial start of the summer vacation season — Memorial Day. The National Council on Skin Care Prevention designated the day to encourage people to cover up and use sunscreen to protect against skin cancer, the most common cancer in the U.S.

The FDA on Tuesday sent warning letters to Advanced Skin Brightening Formula, Sunsafe Rx, Solaricar and Sunergetic. The agency says the companies are illegally marketing dietary supplements and making unproven drug claims — namely, that their pills and capsules protect people from sun damage and, in some cases, even skin cancer.

On Friday, one of the companies was still advertising its product on its website as a method “backed by science” to protect eyes and skin from ultraviolet rays.

According to the warning letters, the companies claim their pills are useful in preventing or mitigating disease — an assertion the FDA says illegally establishes them as a drug. The FDA must approve all drugs sold for human consumption in the U.S.

These four companies aren’t the only ones advertising such products on popular sites such as Amazon, eBay and Walmart.com, so consumers have to be vigilant.

The only legitimate sunscreens are sold over the counter as creams, sprays, lotions or sticks, Eisenman said.

Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Thomas Rohrer advises his patients to apply sunscreen liberally, stay in the shade when possible, wear a hat with a wide brim and protect their eyes with sunglasses when they’re outside. And never sunbathe.

An SPF — sun protection factor — of more than 50 isn’t necessary, he said, although he uses sunscreen with an SPF of 85 or 100. Sunscreens with a higher SPF tend to cost a little more, but Rohrer, whose practice is in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, said they do no harm and may provide extra protection.

Effective ingredients are critical, but it’s also important to choose a sunscreen that feels good on the skin.

“Find one that is cosmetically appealing,” he said. “You have to find a sunscreen that you’ll use.”

It’s never too early to start protecting against skin cancer, according to new guidelines from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. The group advises doctors to counsel their patients about the importance of sunscreen for babies as young as 6 months old.

Rohrer says an annual screening for skin cancer is a good idea, especially for people who have had the disease or have a history of it in their family. May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month.

Finally, don’t ignore moles that change in size, shape or color or pimples in a sun-exposed area that linger, crust over, bleed or get larger. They could be signs of cancer or pre-cancer, he said.

One in five Americans will get skin cancer by the time they reach age 70, according to a 2010 study published in the Archives of Dermatology.

Susan Jacobson is an editor at The Penny Hoarder. She always wears sunscreen.

Can Vaping Help Smokers Quit? Not So Fast, Study Says

(AP Photo/Frank Franklin II, File)

It’s a big question for smokers and policymakers alike: Do electronic cigarettes help people quit? In a large study of company wellness programs, e-cigarettes worked no better than traditional stop-smoking tools, and the only thing that really helped was paying folks to kick the habit.

Critics of the study say it doesn’t close the case on these popular vaping products. It didn’t rigorously test effectiveness, just compared e-cigarettes to other methods among 6,000 smokers who were offered help to quit. That’s still valuable information because it’s what happens in daily life.

Providing e-cigarettes “did not improve the number of people who quit compared to essentially doing nothing,” said Dr. Scott Halpern of the University of Pennsylvania. “The very best way to help them quit is to offer them money.”

He led the study, published Wednesday by the New England Journal of Medicine. It was sponsored by the Vitality Group, which runs company wellness programs. The makers of NJOY e-cigarettes provided them but had no role in the research.

Separately in the journal, another study reports that lung cancer rates are now higher for white and Hispanic women under 50 than for men that age, a reversal of a longtime trend that can’t be explained by smoking patterns alone.

VAPING TO QUIT SMOKING

E-cigarettes are battery-powered devices that vaporize nicotine. They’ve been sold in the U.S. since 2007 and contain less toxic substances than traditional cigarettes. The Food and Drug Administration is mulling how to regulate them, and earlier this year, a national panel of experts said vaping may help folks reduce smoking but that more research is needed.

The new study differed from usual studies of smokers wanting to quit: It automatically enrolled smokers in 54 company wellness programs and asked those who didn’t want to join to opt out. Only 125 did, but the vast majority of the rest didn’t actively participate yet their results were tracked as part of the study.

They were put into five groups: usual care, which was information on benefits of quitting and motivational text messages; free quit-smoking aids such as nicotine patches and medicines like Chantix or Zyban plus e-cigarettes if those failed; free e-cigarettes without any requirement to try other methods first; free quit-smoking aids and a $ 600 reward if people were abstinent six months later; and free cessation tools plus $ 600 placed in an account at the start of the study that they’d lose if they didn’t quit.

The results: Only 0.1 percent in the usual care group succeeded; rates ranged from 0.5 percent to nearly 3 percent for the rest. The groups offered cash did best; rates among the other groups did not differ much from each other.

Success rates were higher — from 0.7 percent to nearly 13 percent — among 1,200 smokers who actively participated.

COST

Average costs were less than a dollar per participant in the usual care group and around $ 100 for those given redeemable cash accounts. But when looked at per successful quitter, the cash programs cost less than e-cigarettes or traditional methods.

Most big companies offer stop-smoking programs and half of them offer financial incentives, study leaders said. It costs companies $ 3,000 to 6,000 more per year to employ a smoker versus a non-smoker.

WHAT OTHERS SAY

“E-cigarettes are substantially less harmful than burned or lit cigarettes, but that doesn’t mean they’re helpful for cessation” and they’re not regulated for that, said Cliff Douglas, the American Cancer Society’s tobacco policy expert.

Gregory Conley, who heads the American Vaping Association, said the type used in this study is obsolete, and all of the methods proved “pathetic” because smokers were automatically enrolled and may not have wanted to quit. “You’re just thrusting the product on people,” he said.

Dr. Nancy Rigotti, director of the tobacco research and treatment center at Massachusetts General Hospital who was on the expert panel, said it was a well-done study that gives “a little discouraging and surprising” results. The value of traditional methods is well established, so counseling and support might have been inadequate in this study, she said.

Others were critical of the study’s methods. David Abrams, a former tobacco researcher at the National Institutes of Health and now at New York University, said researchers don’t know how many in each group actually used the quit-smoking tools.

“You can’t conclude that the treatments didn’t work if nobody used them,” said Abrams, who called e-cigarettes “the best thing that’s come along in 10 years to help people quit.”

A smoker took a different view.

“For me personally, it was useless,” said Georges Touaichi, a 22-year-old San Diego hotel worker who tried e-cigarettes but went back to smoking after a day or two.

An FDA spokesman said the agency was pondering the results, but that this is not the type of study needed to evaluate safety and effectiveness of e-cigarettes for smoking cessation.

LUNG CANCER RATES

For the other study in the journal, researchers used U.S. cancer registries and federal health statistics to track new lung cancer cases by gender and race over various time periods. Rates historically have been higher in men but that trend reversed among whites and Hispanics born since the mid-1960s.

For example, among people ages 45 to 49 and diagnosed from 1995 to 1999, rates in women were 26 percent lower than for men. But in a more recent time period, 2010 to 2014, women had an 8 percent higher incidence rate than men, said one study leader, the American Cancer Society’s Ahmedin Jemal.

Women are catching up to men in smoking rates — 14 percent smoke versus 17 percent of men — but that’s not enough to explain the switch, he said. Women also smoke fewer cigarettes than men.

One theory is that certain types of lung cancer are more common in women and the risk of them declines more slowly after someone quits, and women have lagged behind men in cessation rates, said Caitlin Murphy of the Simmons Cancer Center at UT Southwestern in Dallas.

“Maybe women are getting diagnosed more often through CT screening,” which also would boost their rates compared to men, said Murphy, who had no role in the work.

For smokers who are 50, “if they quit now they can gain about six years of life,” Jemal said. “They have this opportunity to avoid not only lung cancer but also other causes of smoking-related deaths.”

Gymnast Who Was Abused by Larry Nassar Says MSU Must Do More Than Pay $500 Million. It Must Change

Michigan State University announced a $ 500 million settlement with the victims of gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar this week. For Lindsey Lemke, an MSU student who was abused by Nassar, that’s not enough.

“That is a good start,” she says. “[MSU] thinks that’s enough. And it’s not enough. No amount of money can ever change what we had to go through.”

The settlement will go to more than 300 victims. It allows for $ 425 million to be paid to current claimants, and $ 75 million to future claimants who may come forward.

In January 2018, more than 100 gymnasts and athletes that Nassar had sexually abused, including members of the 2012 gold-medal winning U.S. national team, provided victim impact statements over several days at Nassar’s sentencing hearing. Lemke was one of them. And while she sees the settlement as a first step, she says MSU still needs to go further to redress wrongs when it comes to sexual abuse.

“Part of the issue I’m still struggling with is that they keep saying that they are working on changing the culture, and enforcing different policies but we really don’t know yet what those are. Especially for students at MSU — if someone said to me, ‘Where do I go to report sexual abuse, or who do I talk to,’ I still wouldn’t know what to tell you,” she says. “I would like to see the accountability go even farther.”

As part of the settlement, the 322 plaintiffs agreed to drop law suits against MSU and against former and current employees at the university, including board members, says Jamie White, an attorney for one of the plaintiff groups. He said in such settlements, a third party arbitrator typically uses a set of criteria, including the merits of each individual’s legal claim, the amount of damages, including financial losses, suffered, and makes allocation recommendations for each plaintiff.

While MSU may hope that the settlement closes the door on the Nassar scandal, Lemke says the survivors of his sexual abuse will continue fighting. There are more than 30 bills in front of the Michigan state legislature that propose extending the statute of limitations for reporting sexual abuse, as well as removing government immunity protections for states if state employees engage in sexual abuse. Nassar is currently serving an up to 175 year prison sentence.

One provision of the settlement requires anyone who receives a payout from MSU to stop advocating for two of the bills before the legislature, attorney Vince Finaldi, who represents about 175 victims, told the Detroit News.

The news of the settlement was followed by even more turmoil at USA Gymnastics, the beleaguered national governing body for gymnastics.

On Friday, USA Gymnastics (USAG) announced that Rhonda Faehn, head of the women’s program, “is no longer with USA Gymnastics.” The organization only added that “This is a personnel matter that we will not discuss in detail.”

Faehn is reportedly among the first people at USAG to be informed that Nassar, was sexually abusing gymnasts. Olympian Aly Raisman and national team member Maggie Nichols were overheard at a training camp in the summer of 2015 discussing Nassar’s unusually intrusive pelvic procedures, which he claimed was part of his treatment of the gymnasts. The coach who overheard them reported the discussion to Faehn, who reported it to then USAG president Steve Penny.

Penny did not report Nassar to the police, but instead hired an investigator who questioned Raisman, Nichols and Olympian McKayla Maroney. It was not until six weeks after the coach’s initial complaint that Penny reported Nassar to the FBI.

Kerry Perry, who succeeded Penny as USAG president when he stepped down in March 2017, has been called to testify before Congress next week to explain USAG’s handling of sexual abuse complaints, including many involving Nassar, which gymnasts said they reported before 2015.

Reuben Foster’s Ex-Girlfriend Admits She Lied About Him Allegedly Beating Her – Says She Wanted To “End Him”

Elissa Ennis, who accused the San Francisco 49ers player, Reuben Foster, of domestic abuse, came out recently and admitted she lied about the assault for personal and monetary gain. In a report from Mercury News, the woman claims she fabricated the story that her ex-boyfriend physically abused her for the sake of ruining his career and extorting him for money.

During a preliminary hearing at a San Francisco courthouse on Thursday, the accuser was seeing if the case would move forward. Despite her attorney’s best advice to plead the fifth amendment, Ennis told the court that she lied.

The woman said it was all a ruse to sue him for money and destroy his career because she wanted to “ruin him.”

As you may know, Ennis formerly stated that Foster hit her over eight times before dragging her out of the house and throwing the family dog along with her.

She went to the hospital to get treatment for the injuries, which were allegedly due to domestic abuse, including bruises, cuts, and a ruptured eardrum.

Reportedly, the woman said that the true nature of her injuries was because of a traffic accident along with another girl. Video of the fight was uploaded a few weeks later. The Associated Press reports that Ennis wanted to get revenge for his claim that she cheated on him.

During her testimony, she said, “I was pissed and I wanted to end him.” Ennis went on to say, in her own words, “It was all a money scheme,” and admits she didn’t intend for it to become big news.

However, despite her claims to the contrary, the judge thinks there might still be a case, and Ennis is merely backtracking for some unexplained reason, perhaps, a change of heart. Others speculate she is fearful for her life.

WATCH: More Details In T.I. Arrest; Officer Says ‘You Were Acting A Fool!’

ATLANTA (AP) — A security guard said he felt threatened during an argument with the rapper T.I. that led to the Grammy-winning hip-hop artist’s arrest outside his gated community near Atlanta.

In a 10-minute phone call, the guard at Eagles Landing Country Club told a 911 dispatcher early Wednesday that a resident kept asking for his name and knocking on the guard shack door. The security guard acknowledged during the call he did not recognize the resident, who was identified as Clifford Harris, better known as T.I.

T.I. had lost his key and the guard wouldn’t let him into the neighborhood, said Henry County Deputy Police Chief Mike Ireland. The rapper was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and simple assault and then released on bail.

The rapper’s attorney, Steve Sadow, issued a statement that his client had been “wrongfully arrested.” Sadow said the guard was asleep when T.I. arrived and it took “some time to wake up the sleeping guard.”

Sadow said T.I. identified himself and sought entry, but the guard refused. The rapper contacted his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, who confirmed that her husband should be allowed inside the community, according to his lawyer.

“The guard continued to refuse entry without justification,” Sadow said in a statement, referring to T.I. as Tip. “Words were exchanged and apparently the guard and/or a supervisor called the police. When the police arrived, they were not interested in hearing Tip’s side of the story and wrongfully chose to end the situation by arresting Tip.”

The dispatcher heard T.I. yelling through the phone at guard Euwan James, a police report says. The guard claims he eventually let T.I. inside the neighborhood.

James said T.I. drove home, then returned and said “Come outside so we can deal with this man to man.” The security guard said he didn’t know the intentions of the rapper, who he claims urged him to come out in the street.

T.I. used a loud voice with an officer before being arrested along with a friend, Marquinarius Holmes, who was cited for not having insurance on his vehicle, the police report stated. It said an officer smelled an “overwhelming” amount of alcohol on T.I.’s breath.

The report said T.I.’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and that he appeared aggravated when the officer spoke to him. The officer retrieved surveillance footage showing the rapper telling the security guard, Euwan James, that “there was no way around him.”

T.I. is also shown yelling and saying James reports to him because he owns property in the neighborhood, according to the police report.

T.I. is one of the biggest names in hip-hop, with multiple platinum-selling albums and singles, production credits and roles in films like “ATL” and “American Gangster.”

He served about seven months in prison in 2009 after his arrest on federal gun charges.

He also spent about 10 months in federal prison on a probation violation in 2010 after he was arrested on drug charges in Los Angeles. The drug arrest violated his probation — he had been ordered not to commit a crime and not to illegally possess any controlled substances — and led to an 11-month prison sentence at an Arkansas prison.

Other than his arrest Wednesday, the rapper has stayed out of trouble in recent years. He’s been active in community outreach, focusing on youth programs for boys and girls. He also has served as one of 38 advisers for new Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ first 100 days in office.

In April, T.I. was among thousands who marched in a rally marking the 50th anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. The rapper also has taken part in a march in Atlanta against police-involved shooting deaths of African-Americans and in a protest against President Donald Trump in New York.

T.I. has expressed frustration over Trump’s posts on Twitter, but said he intends to focus on doing things that “affect our communities in a positive light.”

A year ago, the rapper said he only planned to release about two or three more albums, telling The Associated Press in an interview that it was “definitely time to transition.”

T.I.’s hits include “What You Know,” ”Whatever You Like” and “Live Your Life.” In 2016, he released the politically charged projects “Us or Else” and “Us or Else: Letter to the System.” They served as inspiration for his short film, “Us or Else,” which subsequently debuted on BET.

T.I., his wife and their children starred in the VH1 reality show “T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle,” which debuted in 2011. The show’s final episode aired last year.

Jay Leno Is Worth $350 Million and Owns 181 Cars But Says He Still Lives Like Someone Who’s on Their Last Dime

Jay Leno got rich by being America’s class clown. The comedian has an estimated net worth of $ 350 million, largely thanks to his tenure as the host of The Tonight Show, which he left in 2014. He’s still cracking jokes, but now he does it on Jay Leno’s Garage, which started as a web series and is now in its fourth season on CNBC (airing Thursdays). It follows Leno’s one true splurge: collecting prized and pricey cars. We talked to him about the money tips he’s picked up from his auto obsession, how he started his standup career homeless, and the one thing he tells every comic who’s trying to make a buck telling jokes.

You were extremely scrappy when you started in comedy. In Leading with My Chin, you wrote about being homeless and telling jokes to police when they picked you up off the street.

[Laughs] Yeah, I did. I just got on a plane one day and went to Los Angeles. I looked in the paper for open houses, say, from noon to 4 p.m., and I would get there at 3:30, and then I would hide in the closet. The realtor would leave and lock the door, and now I had a place to stay. Sometimes I could stay in a house two to three days. I didn’t wreck anything. I did get picked up twice for vagrancy on Hollywood Boulevard. In fact, where I got my [Walk of Fame] star was where the cops picked me up. They’d put you in the back of the car, and they’d drive you around their entire shift, and then let you out in the morning.

They must’ve been used to that on Hollywood Boulevard.

I would tell the cops jokes, and most of the cops are pretty blue-collar guys. Once they realized you’re not dangerous, you’re not a crazy person… “You find a place to live yet? No? Okay, get in the back.” It was okay. They were nice guys.

How’d you become a car geek, anyway?

I grew up in Andover, Massachusetts, which was a pretty rural area when I was a kid. There were always broken tractors, lawn mowers, vehicles you had to fix. I remember somebody had abandoned an old Renault in a field when we were about 11 or 12. We would drive it around the backyard. Your mom would kind of watch through the window. Of, course now they’d call child services, and the parents would be taken away. Back then, it was seen as not a bad thing—it taught you how to fix cars and get things running. I never set out to collect cars. I just bought what I liked. The general rule of car collecting is if you’re reasonably astute and you understand how things work, if you like it, chances are other people will like it, too. My three things are: It should be of technical and historical significance. It should be fun to drive. And it should be attractive to look at. If an automobile has those three qualifications, then it’s probably something that would be considered collectible.

Jay Leno's Garage - Season 3
Walker Dalton—CNBCJAY LENO’S GARAGE Season 3

There’s a lot of speculation out there about your vast car collection. Exactly how many do you own?

About 181 cars, and about 160 motorcycles.

Do you have any idea what they’re all worth?

No. I know individual ones. I bought a McLaren F1 in ‘99 for $ 800,000, and the last offer I got was $ 17.5 million. They only built 64 of them.

Are there any cars you look back on and think, “I wish I hadn’t bought that”?

There’s this thing in the car world: “You didn’t pay too much, you just bought it too soon.” There are a couple there. I don’t really dwell on them too much. If you buy something that’s rare and valuable, it will always be rare and valuable.

Jay Leno with his car collection
Charlie Nucci—Corbis via Getty ImagesJay Leno in his garage with his McLaren F1

How often do you sell the cars?

I’ve never sold a car [Laughs].

Ever?

I will donate a car to charity. We’ve done that probably 10 or 15 times.

Your passion for cars is palpable. Is there anything else you don’t mind dropping serious dough on?

You know, there’s really not. It’s obviously not clothes. I’m not an experienced person. I know I’m pretty wealthy, but I live like someone who’s on their last dime. I take nothing for granted. I don’t take vacations. When you’re in show business, you get to go to vacation places. I enjoy doing philanthropy stuff. I like feeling like if I don’t work this week, I’m gonna go broke. People say, “Why do you work all the time?” I go, “What do I do on a Tuesday that’s worth this kind of money?” A job comes up, and I always feel like I was broke for so long, I never wanted to be in the position of, “Well, how much is that job? Oh no, I’m not…” It just seems so presumptuous to turn down.

You still have that hustler mentality.

Yeah, and I like being a piecemeal comic, the idea of write joke, tell joke, get check. I don’t do HBO or Netflix specials because I can make almost the same money doing a live show. Why not just do four or five live shows instead of giving something away on TV?

Jay Leno arrives in his 1909 Baker Electric car at "Revenge Of The Electric Car" Premiere held at Landmark Nuart Theatre on October 21, 2011 in Los Angeles, California.
Jeff Vespa—WireImageJay Leno arrives in his 1909 Baker Electric car at “Revenge Of The Electric Car” Premiere held at Landmark Nuart Theatre on October 21, 2011 in Los Angeles, California.

So no eight-figure Netflix special for you.

It doesn’t interest me. I’m not saying that to be snobby. It just doesn’t appeal to me because once your joke is on TV, it disappears forever. I always think, “Did this person just hear me say this last night?” I always know where my act is. I control it.

You came into quite a lot of money as a famous comedian. What did you learn about spending money from that?

I never spent money before I had it. I never bought anything before I could afford it. I never bought anything on time. I don’t lease vehicles. Cash is king.

You’re not risky with your income.

I work and my money relaxes—that’s the way I look at it. I live pretty frugally. I’m a huge believer in low self-esteem. The only ones with high self-esteem are actors and criminals. I’m dyslexic. My mother would say, “You’re gonna have to work twice as hard as the other kid to get the same thing,” and that always seemed like a fair tradeoff. The nice thing about being dyslexic—people tend to focus on something and then that becomes their goal. That always worked pretty well for me. I’ve always had two jobs, and I lived on one job and banked the other. All through The Tonight Show, I never touched a dime of my TV money because TV money is fleeting money. When you’re a comedian, you can always generate income. You can always stand somewhere and tell jokes and get paid for it. In college I would go to what they used to call hootenanny night and I would put $ 50 on the bar. I would say to the bartender, ”Let me go up and tell jokes. If I do good, give me my $ 50 back. If I do bad, you keep the $ 50.” Eventually you could make $ 15, $ 20 bucks a night by doing that.

What do you say when you talk to a young comedian who’s coming up and reaching for the kind of career you’ve had?

My advice is just take the job. Don’t worry about how much it pays. I’m always astounded when I meet comedians who go, “I’m not going there for that kind of money,” and I go, “Who are you? You haven’t done anything. No one knows who you are.” If you’re any good, the money will come. Pay attention to your product. If you’re not making enough money, it’s ‘cause you’re not good enough.

I spent almost a year at the Comedy Store asking to go on after Richard Pryor. No one wanted to follow Pryor because he just blew the room out. He was really the best. After that, I realized I didn’t have an hour of material. I had about 18 minutes of really funny material. I just kept throwing out everything that wasn’t funny.

Khloé Kardashian Feels ‘So Loved’ on Mother’s Day After Source Says Family Hasn’t Visited in ‘Weeks’

New mom Khloé Kardashian is being showered with love this Mother’s Day despite being thousands of miles away from her family.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star — who welcomed her first child, a daughter named True, on April 12 — shared photos and videos featuring holiday-appropriate flower arrangements via her Instagram Story Sunday.

“I feel so loved,” she captioned a shot of flowers that spelled out “Mommy.”

She also shared images of gold balloons that spelled out her nickname, “Koko,” and a second “Mommy” flower arrangement.

The social media posts come four days after a source told PEOPLE that Kardashian’s decision to remain living in Cleveland, Ohio — where her boyfriend and True’s father, Tristan Thompson, 27, plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers — in the wake of Thompson’s cheating scandal has “definitely caused friction.”

The family is still not happy with Tristan and they have no desire to spend Mothers’ Day with him,” the insider said.

As her first Mother’s Day as a parent approached, Khloé was expected to either stay home with baby daughter True or possibly hit the road with Thompson, who is traveling to Boston for the NBA playoffs, PEOPLE reported Thursday.

“Khloé’s decision to stay with Tristan has definitely caused friction,” the source said. “Her family hasn’t visited her for weeks. It’s been hard for Khloé, but she is doing what she believes is best for her family.”

One day before Mother’s Day, Kardashian shared the first video of True to celebrate one month following her birth.

“Happy one month old, mama,” she said in the video, which shows True looking up at the camera with a flower superimposed over her right cheek. “I love you, pretty girl.”

Kardashian also made sure to give a shout-out to her own mama, Kris Jenner.

“Happy Mother’s Day to the best mommy we could ask for!! Just remember mama ‘you’re doing amazing sweetie!’ You really are!!” she captioned a fabulous photo of the 62-year-old momager. “We couldn’t imagine life without you!! You are the reason for it all!! Thank you for showing us what unconditional love and loyalty is!”

On Twitter over the weekend, the reality star told fans that the baby closely resembled dad Tristan Thompson.

Tristan and True are twins lol it’s crazy,” she responded to a tweet asking which of her parents True looked like more.

But Kardashian hopes that True will have a few features that mirror her mom.

“Everyone tells me they are identical lol it’s wild,” she said of True and Thompson. “Maybe her eyes will stay light and I can get something lol.”

Watch the full special Born Kardashian streaming now on PeopleTV.com, or download the PeopleTV app on your favorite device.

In April, allegations surfaced that Thompson cheated on Khloé throughout her pregnancy. The news broke just days before Khloé gave birth to True on April 12.

“Poor Khloé,” her sister Kim Kardashian West said weeks later during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “Like, I don’t even know how to describe it besides it’s just so f—ed up.”

“We really were rooting for Khloé. And we still are. She’s so strong and she’s doing the best that she can. It’s a really sad situation, all over,” she added.

Ex-NFL Player Says Police Knew Gun Charge Was Based on Lie

(ELIZABETH, N.J.) — A former NFL linebacker says in a lawsuit that police and prosecutors in New Jersey knew a shooter had lied about getting a weapon from the player, but charged him anyway.

A gun charge against Khaseem Greene was dropped in July after an audio recording surfaced of the other man telling detectives he lied about Greene’s involvement in a shooting outside a nightclub in Elizabeth in December 2016.

The Kansas City Chiefs released Greene the day charges against him were reported.

The other man’s admission came the day he told detectives Greene was involved, but it wasn’t included in a criminal complaint that alleged Greene was seen on camera handing him a gun.

The suit, filed Tuesday, names the Elizabeth Police Department and the Union County Prosecutor’s Office. Messages seeking comment left with the agencies weren’t immediately returned.
