The sauce is first step to making really good mac and cheese

Mac and cheese is one of the most delicious foods on earth, but it’s actually more difficult than you might think to make at home. If you just add a bunch of shredded cheese to a pot of pasta, you’ll most likely end up with a weird, gloopy mess that hardens into a rock as soon as it cools down….

To some in the black community, there is no card game like “Spades.” Spades can break up happy homes, reunite families and end friendships. At a barbeque or function, if someone breaks out the cards it’s time for you to find a partner and destroy the whole house or risk embarrassment.

Now we shouldn’t assume that everyone knows how to play the Black American pastime but you risk shame if you don’t. So Twitter user @rxmsxy took to Twitter to break down the game. Not all heroes wear capes. Here’s your lesson.

Got 5 Minutes? This Simple Step Can Set You up for a Happy Retirement

Pause your music for a second. When’s the last time you thought about your 401(k)? Been awhile, right?

You know it’s growing, but is it growing fast enough?

While you’re jamming out to your tunes, a company called Blooom could be hard at work optimizing your 401(k).

That’s money music to our ears.

Grow Your 401(k) Faster

Already contributing to your 401(k)? Great. That’s what you should be doing. But do you know what’s happening to your money after you contribute it?

Probably not. That’s where Blooom comes in. It’s an SEC-registered investment advisory firm that can optimize and monitor your 401(k) for you and set you up to retire when you want to.

The money in your 401(k) account is most likely diversified into a mix of stocks and bonds, but it might not be the right mix for you. Depending on your age, your desired retirement age and how much you can afford to contribute, you might need different settings to make your money grow the best way possible.

That’s where Blooom’s robo-adviser can help. Instead of setting your account and forgetting about it, it’s constantly watching to see that it’s optimized to make your money grow and avoid hidden (investment) fees.

Take a Commercial Break to Fix Your 401(k)

It just takes a few minutes to get a free 401(k) analysis that will show you whether your investments are allocated properly and whether you’re losing money paying hidden fees.

This check up will even tell you just how much more money your account could earn by the time you retire. You might be surprised at how much that is.

After that, if you sign up, it’s just $ 10 per month to have Blooom monitor and maximize your 401(k). Bonus: Penny Hoarders get the first month free with the code PNNYHRD.

Carson Kohler discovered that working with Blooom could potentially boost her 401(k) by up to $ 247,367 in additional funds by the time she retires. She plans to retire at 60, too, so that’s pretty sweet.

That’s $ 19 per day of extra earnings versus just 33 cents per day the service would cost her.

What Does a Robo-Adviser Do, Really?

Blooom’s robo-adviser looks at your 401(k) as well as factors including your age, contributions and target retirement age to see whether your account is zooming toward your goals or sputtering along the wrong path.

Here are some major factors it’ll keep an eye out for:

Risk: How aggressive are your investments? Depending on your age and the money in your account, you might want to be more aggressive to make that money grow. On the flip side, for some accounts, getting more conservative can help protect a healthy-looking future.

Fees: Many 401(k) accounts are riddled with hidden fees that bog down your earnings. How can you build your money if someone keeps taking little cuts? Blooom finds and minimizes your fees. It’s like tuning up your car to get better gas mileage.

Diversification: Small cap, mid-cap, stocks versus bonds, commodities, equities… who knows? It’s OK if you’re not a pro at investing. Most of us aren’t. The folks at Blooom are. They can balance out your portfolio and keep your account running smoothly. The tool can even change your investments for you as needed when the market changes.

What’s Your Future Worth?

You love your Netflix. It’s okay to admit it. Most of us do. It’s only $ 10 per month, right?

And, of course, there’s Hulu. Have you seen the latest episode of “The Handmaid’s Tale”?” I-N-T-E-N-S-E! That’s just TV. You get your big-screen fix with a movie per day with Moviepass. And on the way to the theater, you rock out to your favorite jams on Spotify, right?

That’s another $ 10… $ 10… and $ 10.

Think about the future you want once you retire. If you can afford to spend money each month to zombie out in front of the television, you should consider investing in your own future.

Just a few minutes now and a few bucks a month could add years’ worth of additional funds to your retirement kitty.

Okay, you can get back to jamming out to your tunes now.

One Step Closer to Crowning USA Surfing Jr. Champions

San Clemente, California (June 18, 2018) – The drama and excitement is building at USA Surfing Championships – the contest that determines which surfers are selected to be USA Junior National Surf team members and compete internationally. After some of the best conditions and performances in the history of the event, we are one step closer to the decisive final heats.

This year’s competition included exceptional performances with a 10-point ride Monday by U16 Gabriela Bryan of Hawaii, who consistently scored 9’s throughout the day. There were three 9.93 waves on day two, Saturday – all in the girls U14 division by Caitlin Simmers (Oceanside), Luana Silva (Hawaii), and Sawyer Lindblad (San Clemente).

The level of competition is intense. In a chess match of a U16 boys heat Taro Watanabe (Malibu) won his round 2 heat with an aggressive 9.83 wave and Jett Schilling’s (San Clemente) explosive maneuvers earned a 9.07 ride helping him clinch second. Kade Matson (San Clemente) dominated double divisions, with athletic, first-turn progressive maneuvers and unwavering composure that allowed him to stay fresh and sharp with every round. “Competing at Lowers offers surfers a very special experience,” said Andrea Swayne, USA Surfing President. “It is one of only two surf contests allowed at Trestles Lowers – one of the world’s best surf breaks. The level of surfing at this elite event provides a preview of the pipeline of talent USA Surfing is building as we take on the new task of developing not only professional caliber surfers, but Olympians. And judging by the performances so far, our young athletes are rising to the occasion.”

Championships competition features the latest technologies and talents used at the most elite levels of surfing. The heats are announced by crowd favorites Todd Kline and Ryan Simmons, 5-panel WSL/ISA judges use electronic scoring and replay, priority with LED display and head judges – all with years of experience analyzing surfing around the world. USA Surfing head coach Joey Buran said the unprecedented performances are encouraging, but also make decisions about selecting members for the USA Surfing junior national and development teams extra difficult. “All our hard work, training and preparation shows in these performances at Championships,” Buran said. “For many surfers, this week’s performances reflect the strength, grit, composure and athleticism they’ve been cultivating for months and even years. It’s the journey that builds the greatness. It all builds, progresses and hopefully peaks at the right time. It’s a puzzle that we have to put together and the pieces are always changing.”

USA Surfing will announce its 2018 national travel team who will compete at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships in Huntington Beach October 27 – November 4, in early July, following the June Championships. The U.S. Junior team won gold at the 2017 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in Hyuga, Japan, where 306 surfers, from a record-breaking 41 nations across all continents of the globe, competed. Anticipation is growing for the Olympian vs Olympic Hopefuls Expression Session that will take place on the last day of competition. This first-of-its-kind exhibition heat will take place prior to the finals heats at Lowers with multi-sport Olympic medalists in a heat with surfing’s Olympic hopefuls.

NBC is sending a crew to capture the action and take B-roll that contextualizes the road to surfing’s debut in the 2020 Olympic Games. The exhibition heat will provide surfing’s Olympic hopefuls a chance to share their love of surfing with Olympians from other sports and learn from them about the experience of the Olympic stage. Some of the gold medalists from other sports will be surfing for the first time. Olympic athletes in the exhibition heat will include gold medalist Slope Style snowboarder Red Gerard, silver medalist Big Air snowboarder Kyle Mack, silver medal Snowboard Cross snowboarder Lyndsey Jacobellis, water polo gold medalist Kaleigh Gilchrist and Winter and Summer Paralympic gold medalist Alana Nichols. In addition, snowboarder Brock Crouch who is recovering from injuries sustained in an avalanche will join fellow athletes on the beach. Crouch was on the USA Surfing junior team. Surfing Olympic hopefuls will include WSL World Tour surfers Kolohe Andino, Griffin Colapinto, Courtney Conlogue and Caroline Marks, who grew up participating in USA Surfing events.

That Roseanne Spinoff Just Got One (Big) Step Closer to Happening

Take heart, Roseanne fans! In the wake of Roseanne Barr’s racist tweets and ABC’s subsequent cancellation of the eponymous sitcom, it seemed as though a spinoff simply wasn’t possible. How can you have Roseanne without, well, Roseanne? The matter was made especially tricky by the fact Barr has a writing credit on the series. But — and it’s a big one — new intel suggests that a spinoff isn’t just possible, it could happen soon.

More: Roseanne Officially Cancelled at ABC Because Tweets Do Have Consequences

Per Deadline, lots of legwork behind-the-scenes has culminated in a promising point: Barr ready to sign off on the potential spinoff. While the terms and conditions of said agreement have not been released, it would reportedly involve Barr receiving a one-time payment from the production company Carsey-Werner. In exchange for that payment, Barr would relinquish her rights to any profits from the spinoff.

In other words, she couldn’t come back at a later date and sue ABC for or Carsey-Berner over the spinoff. The alleged agreement would mean Barr would no longer have any creative or financial rights where the series is concerned.

So where does that leave the potential spinoff? According to Deadline, ABC will have seven days from the time that Barr signs the agreement to decide whether they will pursue a pickup.

More: Is aRoseanneSpinoff Without Rosanne Barr a Possibility?

Per Roseanne’s own tweet on June 15, one could surmise that the erstwhile actress wants to put this chapter behind her and let her co-stars find success without her.

The Duchess and the Queen! Meghan Markle and Queen Elizabeth Step Out Together for First Time

The Duchess and the Queen have arrived!

Meghan Markle stepped out in northwest England on Thursday morning alongside the ultimate royal companion: Queen Elizabeth herself. The monarch wore a lime green suit dress by Stewart Parvin and a matching hat by Rachel Trevor Morgan, while Meghan wore a light beige pencil dress with a cape top by Givenchy (her wedding dress designer!).

The new Duchess of Sussex, 36, and the Queen, 92, disembarked in Cheshire, some 200 miles from London, via the royal train in Runcorn after spending the night aboard. The train is a favored travel option for the Queen and other senior royals because it allows them to work and relax en route.

Not even a month since Meghan married Prince Harry on May 19, this is the first occasion the Queen has taken her new granddaughter-in-law on an official visit. The joint outing is “happening at triple speed” compared to Meghan’s predecessor, Kate Middleton, royals author Ingrid Seward previously told PEOPLE.

First on the pair’s agenda: the Mersey Gateway Bridge, where Meghan and the Queen met architects, planners and community representatives. They also watched a performance by local school children before Elizabeth formally opened the bridge.

Their next stop is the Storyhouse in nearby Chester, where they were set to meet a Syrian settlement group, watch a performance by the Fallen Angels dance company and catch a medley of songs from a current production of A Little Night Music.

Their last appointment is set to be a lunch at Chester Town Hall with locals brought together by the council.

The outing is seen as the Queen’s way of helping immerse Meghan into public royal engagements. “It is the way of the royal family—all part of the training and getting used to being in public life and under public scrutiny,” Elizabeth’s former press secretary, Charles Anson, tells PEOPLE. “Showing people the ropes is a high priority for the Queen.”

Seward, author of the recent biography of the Queen and Prince Philip, My Husband & I, adds, “The Queen knows the potential pitfalls of not giving a guiding hand. She can’t expect Meghan to know everything without being shown. I’m sure she feels Meghan needs a steadying hand in these early days.”

Meghan returned to public royal outings shortly after her secret honeymoon with Harry, when she joined in the annual celebration of the Queen’s birthday, Trooping the Colour, on June 9.

Why Harry and Meghan’s Wedding Was a Meaningful Step Forward for the Monarchy

The wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle — or, if you prefer, of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex — was a collision between the United Kingdom and the United States, a geopolitical tango in which a particular sort of American ethos definitively took the lead. For those who’ve surmised that Meghan may meaningfully change the public face of Britain’s monarchy, Saturday’s wedding seemed to provide ample evidence. For the many millions watching worldwide, it bore the imprints of a guiding sensibility that was passionate, globally engaged and — relative to the rest of the royals — downright breezy.

This became clear in the moments before Meghan even entered the chapel. Prince Harry, evidently a nervous groom, transmitted anxiety through the screen. Other members of the royal family seemed even less at ease, seemingly because of an odd paradox: Their pleasant remove from contemporary digital life has made them vastly less comfortable on camera than most of their subjects. Her motorcade may have arrived with down-to-the-minute British punctuality, but Meghan strode out with an un-royal sort of confidence. In a simple and clean dress and one bit of ornate finery — a tiara whose encrusted jewels set off her Drybar-chic messy bun — she held a pose outside the chapel for a long moment as her train was being arranged, and used the time to wave to members of the assembled crowd with a mood less of noblesse oblige than of amiable openness.

Perhaps it’s her training as an actress that made her seem vastly more comfortable than anyone else in the room, at least at first. With a slightly arch smile that never faded, Meghan seemed better suited to be the center of attention than the family whose members are born to be seen. In her company, Harry, too, seemed to relax; the game of psychoanalyzing royals based solely on body language and snippets of attempted lip-reading got vastly more fun.

As things got underway, though, Meghan’s ease seemed to come from the fact that the ceremony reflected her and her new husband’s sensibilities and their decisions — especially at a style of wedding that’s usually hemmed in by tradition. Meghan’s pathbreaking status as a biracial American bride in a royal wedding echoed through the proceedings: Surely this was the first wedding in Windsor family history to feature a black American bishop declaiming at some length about the power of love. Rev. Michael Curry’s address was political — not in the way many sermons are outside of royal weddings, but in a way that cannot possibly be made palatably bland for all audiences. He spoke with fervor and with volume about love, and the ways in which it might extend beyond individual couples and toward greater justice and respect among all humanity.

That it wasn’t made up of platitudes felt like a provocation; its engagement with the world around us, citing both the mixed blessing of social media and the experience of American slaves, made it clear. The sermon shook viewers at home out of complacency, and seemed on television to rattle various royals. (Everyone will have their favorite cutaway; mine was to Kate Middleton, Meghan’s sister-in-law and the bride at a far more staid royal wedding, glancing briefly but significantly at Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.) It was followed by a gospel choir singing an arrangement of the soul classic “Stand by Me.” Previous royal weddings had been ones at which the world was meant to look in awe; this was a wedding to which the world had been invited. That it didn’t seem to play in the room is precisely the point.

A bride can say little at her wedding except her vows. But Meghan expressed a confident readiness to exist on the world stage as the closest thing to one’s own person as a member of the royal family can be. And in choices made as part of a couple, Meghan made clear that her corner of the monarchy will be one marked by engagement and pursuit of justice and charity. It may not be easy: She joins a family that has spent the years since World War II in skittish retreat from the world marked by momentary attempts at engagement.

To be sure, the Queen and her retinue have learned a good deal about the moods of its subjects since its mishandling of Princess Diana, whose charitable impulses and whose emotional openness they never understood in life and whose sterling reputation they failed to reckon with, at first, in death. But the modern royal has, before Meghan, looked more like Prince William or Kate — a figure who seems less fussily old-fashioned than their ancestors but who still avoids politics or, really, any topic of interest at all. They let the Windsor legacy do the talking. Meghan has already put that legacy to work in intriguing ways, proving adept at working within, and beyond, traditional venues and strictures. When a sermon about what love really means when it comes to how we live in society happens at a royal wedding, it redounds around a world that’s ready to hear it.

Many royals shun the spotlight, given all the headaches that come with it. Meghan, shrewd in her choices and earnest in her passions, lets her light shine, to quote the gospel song that played as guests exited. Within the bounds of royal tradition, Meghan has already squeezed in a wedding that reflected meaningful thought and concern for the world. One wonders what she’ll be able to accomplish with the tools at her disposal now that she’s a member of the family.

BEST DEAL UPDATE:

‘Detroit: Become Human’ Is A Bold Step Forward For Narrative-Led Gaming

Positioned in the crosshairs of a ‘violence in videogame’s debate that somehow still looms in 2018, a sexual harassment scandal leveled at its creators and accusations of clumsy and heavy-handed alignment with social causes of the era, it’s been far from a smooth marketing campaign for upcoming PS4 exclusive — Detroit: Become Human.

Developed by Quantic Dream under the watchful gaze of divisive auteur David Cage (creator of Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls), Detroit is the latest addition to the portfolio of a creator who strives to produce ‘games with meaning’. A noble cause, for sure. But does Detroit actually live up to its makers’ admirable ambitions?

So far, Quantic Dream’s output has largely amounted to a souped up take on the mechanics of eighties arcade, and later laserdisc, staple, Dragon’s Lair. Like this 80s classic, Heavy Rain is a game that you’d drag your friends over to gawk at the beauty of, but where the actual gameplay didn’t extend much beyond hitting a button at a crucial moment.

Games like The Last Of Us, Life Is Strange, even the Bioshock series, could never be dismissed as unmeaningful, and they had the immersive gameplay to match their ambitious narratives. After these forward-thinking approaches to storytelling in video games, now the parallels Heavy Rain holds with Dragon’s Lair, seem more robust than ever.

Cagey Controversies

A scene depicting domestic abuse in one trailer for ‘Detroit’ sparked a lot of fury from tabloid journalists, despite films and books tackling similar issues.

Yet, before we dig into whether Detroit: Become Human moves Cage’s vision on, let’s address the horde of elephants in the room. The charges of excessive, inappropriate violence in the game – concerning a quick time event in which a scumbag father physically abuses his young daughter – have been latched onto by tabloid newspapers and even publicly derided by British politicians. Yet, books tackling these themes don’t receive such criticism. Films don’t receive such criticism.

All we can hope is that one day, games become so part of the fabric of our culture that the people who comment on such societal concerns, understand the art form.

Unbelievably, this scene isn’t the only controversial cloud hanging over Detroit. As well as criticisms of the game’s content, there have been claims of real-world sexual harassment over at Quantic Dream too. While deeply troubling, such claims would be more useful being dealt with by the authorities, not here.

Amid all this mess, it would be easy to hate Detroit then. Yet, despite all the difficulties surrounding it, somehow, Cage’s latest is shaping up to be a refreshingly bold and thoughtful step forward for narrative-led games.

And most importantly — one that’s genuinely fun to play.

Art Imitating Life

Earlier trailers suggested a pretty in-sensitive approach to tackling real-world issues, but has the final game improved upon this?

Where some criticism of Detroit: Become Human is justified though, is based on THAT trailer from E3 2017.  Loosely speaking, this is a game about an android awakening – there’s nods to Blade Runner, Westworld and perhaps most notably, Channel 4’s excellent Humans TV series. Said trailer opens with an African spiritual hymn, appearing to align the suffering of slave-race-androids to the struggles of the civil rights movement, and, more offensively, suggests that for-androids (read, black people), they merely need to ‘rise up’, and not doing so is what creates their suffering, not, y’know, racism.

Oh, and it’s set in Detroit, a city with a history that is woven into the black cause.

In 2017, Cage told Eurogamer he’d “never make a racist game”, something that a man who sees the world through the eyes of a race he isn’t depicting, can never truly promise. Cage later backtracked amid the furious backlash to the trailer, saying the game was just that – a game! – not a comment on world events. What was done to the title between there and now we don’t know, although the then promised release period being pushed back suggests something was.

And yet, unlike the fence sitting Far Cry 5, refreshingly the game that we’ve seen here is very much a game about the state of our world, while not solely being the Androids Lives Matter race allegory the trailer suggested.

 Melding Science Fiction With Reality

The parallels between slavery and android persecution aren't exactly subtle here.

“There’s a sci-fi conception at the heart of the story“, says the games’ head writer, Adam Williams, “in that we imagine androids as everyday technology. That allows us to explore all kinds of themes. We ask ourselves, if an android can think and feel, has it become human? If it has become human, what does it mean to be human? We were going back to Isaac Asimov and H.G. Wells, but we wanted to use the sci-fi to ask questions about social division, prejudice, the division in power between those who have it, and those who had not.

As well as doing that, the vessel of sci-fi allowed us to create a kind of underclass, a persecuted class, that didn’t resonate with one group in society, but serves as a general metaphor for those who are treated that way in any culture. For the player coming to the game, they’ll see different resonances…”

This might sound like backtracking. Perhaps there was some reverse engineering. But as we played the game, we were happy to see that big and broad questions are asked about society throughout. The truth is, it is a game about racism, and E3’s highlight real presented that vision in a clunky, offensive way. But what you didn’t see is a game about the rise of AI, about spirituality, about economics, about environmentalism (three hours into the game, you haven’t seen any living animals. What does that mean?), about what it means to be human…

Becoming Human

Unsurprisingly, Quantic Dream's latest asks the player what it really means to be human.

“I’ve had people say to me, ‘the game is clearly about sexism’,” says Adam. “It’s about the eyes you see it through. I’ve had people say, ‘you clearly started writing this after Trump was elected’, but that’s not true [the game was born out of the 2012 PS3 tech demo, Kara, whose story is continued in Detroit]. We’re trying to tell a universal story that will relate to different people in different tiers of any society, wherein players can bring their own perspective to it.

David [Cage] wanted this to be the most interactive story there could be, where peoples choices dictated how the story would play out, so it had to be open to interpretation. It meant the story had to be a kind of mirror to how the player came at it….”

If the game struggles, it does so because of its ambition. It’s trying to say a lot. Sometimes it says it well, sometimes it says it in a way that would be best left in high school philosophy classes. Games may want to deal with such big themes, but to do that needs precise insight; easier done with linear narratives rather than via decision trees.

The Detroit of the game's namesake is a suitably stunning sci-fi metropolis.

But, and it’s important this, Detroit is infinitely more fun to play than any other Quantic Dream title. The Detroit the studio have created weeps with colour and imagination, it makes Japan look a bit like Grimsby on a wet Bank Holiday, while the nuance of the story and the decision-making makes you feel like the choices you make have legitimate consequences in a way the studios preceding games didn’t.

Basically, it doesn’t so much feel like you’re in a story, here, you’re writing one.

How’s Detroit: Become Human Shaping up?

Detroit: Become Human isn’t a game where you just have to press a button at the right time. There’s a degree of sleuthing and compiling information that is crucial to the gameplay experience. It’s a game where exploration is key. Cutscenes play out with you in them, not watching them. It’s a game that forces you to make decisions and actually live with them. We’re going to have to live with it longer before deciding whether it’s truly great, but it’s certainly not a curio.

What it is, is a game set in an evocative world that is both terrifying and wonderous. You’ll most likely find your time in it deeply rewarding.

The NBA Just Took Its First Big Step on the E-Sports Stage. But Will the Crowds Follow?

The Dallas Mavericks nabbed the top overall player in an NBA draft Wednesday afternoon in New York City. Mavs owner Mark Cuban gave him a congratulatory phone call, before NBA commissioner Adam Silver called his name as the number one pick. Wearing a snazzy purple bow tie, he ascended the stage at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater, shook Silver’s hand, donned a Mavs hat, and posed for the cameras. He compares his game to two future Hall of Famers, calling himself a mix of Kyrie Irving — he can explode to the basket like the Boston Celtics star — and Chris Paul, since he distributes the ball like the Houston Rockets point guard. After all, he once dished out 55 assists in a single game.

Mavs fans, meet Artreyo “Dimez” Boyd, the first-ever draft pick for the NBA’s new e-sports enterprise, the NBA 2K League, which pits the world’s best players in the popular NBA 2K video game against each other over a four-month season starting in May. “Dimez” (pronounced “dimes”) is Boyd’s gaming handle; his avatar is an unstoppable 6’5″ point guard on the screen. (Boyd himself stands 6-feet tall.)

Seventeen of the NBA’s 30 franchises are fielding 2K League teams. In June’s 2018 NBA Draft, Dallas — which owns one of the worst records in the NBA — hopes to select the top overall traditional basketball player, to help turn the team’s fortunes around. But for now Dimez, the pixilated point guard for the Mavs Gaming squad, will have to do. After his selection, Boyd had a message for Cuban. “Hey, Mark, man, let’s go get this ring,” says Boyd, 23. “Let’s go get this championship.”

The NBA, like many other professional investors, is betting on the e-sports boom. Competitive video gaming was a $ 655 million global industry in 2017, according to research company Newzoo, a 32% increase over 2016. Newzoo forecasts the e-sports economy to grow to $ 1.4 billion by 2020. Strauss Zelnick, chairman and CEO of Take-Two Interactive, the company that makes NBA 2K, says 200 million people around the world consider themselves avid viewers of competitive gaming. NBA owners are pouring money into e-sports enterprises; Golden State Warriors co-owner Peter Guber, for example, has invested in Team Liquid, an e-sports organization that competes in popular battle and strategy games like StarCraft II and League of Legends. The Warriors started a League of Legends team in October.

Given all the excitement about e-sports, the NBA is looking to push its own product — basketball — in the video game space. Before the inaugural draft, more than 70,000 gamers tried to qualify for the league. Ultimately the 17 NBA 2K League teams each selected just six players, from a draft pool of 102 gamers.

Read more: Watching the NBA in Virtual Reality Is Surprisingly Good

Teams will square off in five-on-five NBA 2K hoops games, with each gamer controlling the player he’s created. (No women qualified for the final draft pool, which Silver admits is a concern.) The players will live and train in their team’s market; so Dimez, who’s from Cleveland, is headed for Texas. The league pays for housing, and the players selected in the first round will make $ 35,000 over six months. Everyone else earns a $ 32,000 salary.

Silver, who first witnessed the e-sports hysteria up close a few summers ago when he saw fans rollicking a sold-out Madison Square Garden at a League of Legends event, is taking 2K seriously. The first round of the 2K League draft was broadcast on NBA TV Wednesday afternoon. Silver says the NBA is in discussions with Twitch.tv, the video game streaming company Amazon bought for nearly $ 1 billion four years ago, to stream the 2K League games.

The commissioner already has the NBA flagship, the WNBA and the developmental G-League under his umbrella. Add 2K to the mix. “From the NBA’s standpoint,” says Silver, “this is our fourth league.”

But the question is whether fans will watch. E-sports grew on the backs of battle games, like League of Legends, which sell out arenas and draw millions of viewers around the world, especially in China and South Korea. Do these hardcore battle game fans have a desire to watch video game basketball? And do basketball fans want to watch pixels instead of the Indiana Pacers? The NBA already offers a premium product, so why would basketball fans tune into a LeBron James-like character on their computer screens, when the real LeBron already does it all?

The NBA points to a 2K tournament it sponsored in 2017 as evidence of its e-sports potential. The league says that event drew 1.6 million viewers for the finals. “It’s certainly not blind optimism,” says Brendan Donahue, managing director of the NBA 2K League. “When we have done this, we have had success.” The NBA hopes all the young people playing NBA 2K will want to see the best gamers in action, just like, say, golfers love watching Tiger Woods on a Sunday. The NBA’s marketing muscle should also help its e-sports league get off the ground. Silver believes the NBA’s social media community, which he puts at 1.4 billion globally, is “fascinated with everything around this game.” That allows the NBA to develop the gamers “as unique personalities with their own following.”

Silver touts the 2K gamers as “a new generation of athletes, of NBA players,” but before you scoff at the notion of Dimez — as impressive as he is at the controller — as an NBA athlete, hear Silver out. “I see them as athletes, because I think it requires a unique combination of physical and mental skills to excel,” he says. Silver points to video game training regiments — some players practice 16 hours a day — as a sign of their dedication.

“I feel e-sport athletes definitely have bigger grinds, mentally, just staring at the screen for hours,” says Mitchell “Mootyy” Franklin, selected fourth overall by Sacramento’s e-sports franchise, Kings Guard Gaming. “The mental drain is more immense than an actual athlete.”

Johnathon “Fresh Prince JT” Fields, whom the Washington Wizards 2K team, Wizards District Gaming, selected 12th, urges skeptics to check out the competition. “Just like in any other sport, you win and you lose,” says Fields. “You look at that passion, we would have that passion in a real sport. It’s not fake passion. When I lose, I cry. In real life, when players lose, they cry. It’s a real thing.”

At the draft, the NBA certainly treated these gamers like big-time prospects. Stylists outfitted the gamers for their big moment. Dayne “OneWildWalnut” Downey brought a boring suit to New York from Southern California; when Blazer5 Gaming, the Portland team, selected him with the sixth pick, he took the stage in a polkadot shirt and socks, with Gucci shoes. “I feel more confident in this than my other suit for sure,” says Downey.

The NBA gamers might be brasher than the NBA players. “Oh, we’re making the playoffs, easily. You can put it in sharpie, ” says Franklin, the Kings selection. Dimez, the top pick, goes one better. He promises to win more titles than Michael Jordan, the greatest of all time, owner of six championship rings.

Dimez has spoken. Dallas may never be the same.

EMPLOYMENT SEARCH UPDATE:

Step Aside Diddy: How Jay-Z Took the Crown as Wealthiest Rapper of 2018

Forbes released a sneak peek of its list of the wealthiest in hip-hop March 1, and one Brooklyn-bred mogul was able to take the crown from one of Harlem’s finest. According to the publication, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter boosted his net worth from $ 810 million to $ 900 million, landing the top spot—a first for the star since the 2011 inception of the hip-hop list.

What’s behind the killer bankability? Major money moves.

Jay-Z has maintained a lucrative stake in Armand de Brignac champagne and D’Ussé cognac.

He holds nine-figure ownership in Roc Nation and Tidal streaming service.

He saw wins with slow-ticket strategy. Late last year, his 32-show 4:44 tour—which held a record for the highest-grossing solo tour—raked in more than $ 48 million.

He re-upped on his business with Live Nation for 10 more years—in a deal that mainly covers tour business and has reportedly moved away from the 360-model initially agreed upon.

He’s also a cut above the rest with a good eye for investment in innovation; reflective of his early investments in Uber and beauty brand Julep. He took it further with venture capital firm, Arrive, which partners with select early-stage startups by providing them with brand services, business development, advisory, and capital to drive growth in their organizations. Arrive recently, according to Complex, will be investing in Robinhood, a free stock trading app. Robinhood has reportedly generated more than three million users and is valued at $ 1.3 billion. The firm has also invested in audio tech innovator Devialet and a location-sharing platform InSite Applications, both set to launch this year.

Sean “Diddy” Combs came in second with a net worth of $ 820 million bolstered by his multimillion-dollar interests in Cîroc and Revolt and growth in the success of DeLeón tequila, a joint venture with beverage brand Diageo. Dips in the cable and vodka markets have impacted his wealth despite financial gains for the original Bad Boy.

Andre “Dr. Dre” Young ranks third with $ 770 million; his wealth strengthened by Apple’s $ 3 billion buyout of Beats in 2014. Forbes further reports that the producer is set to get Apple stock this summer “worth well over $ 100 million; depending on the tech giant’s share price at the time, he could leapfrog Diddy and Jay-Z when that happens.”

Next on the list are Drake and Eminem who are currently tied at a net worth of $ 100 million. Drake’s wealth portfolio includes an equity stake in Virginia Black whiskey and ritzy real estate investments in Canada and California.

New Year, Same Ring: Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Step Out for Lunch in Australia — with His Parents!

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth left Malibu to start the new year in a place where the sky is (currently) more blue.

The pair returned to the actor’s native Australia for some fun in the sun in Byron Bay, New South Wales, where they dressed down in summer ensembles as they stepped out to enjoy lunch with friends and Hemsworth’s parents, Leonie and Craig, on Tuesday.

The “Malibu” singer, 25, wore a black bikini top with cut-off shorts, taking selfies at the table and cuddling up to the actor, 27, with her arm on his back, as they both donned their so-called “promise rings.”

And while they may be wearing promise rings, Cyrus has openly talked about her feelings on marriage in the past, making it very clear that she can’t see herself walking down the aisle anytime soon.

The Daily Mail previously reported that she told The Sun on Sunday newspaper in September that she doesn’t “envision marriage.”

“I’m 24. I hope I get to live a little bit more. I have too much living to do ,” she said. “Three years ago, if you’d asked me if I’d be here, this happy with this man, I’d have been stunned. I’m just riding this out. In some relationships, you lose yourself by being with someone else. Actually, it made me find myself more. I have no idea what the next three years will bring, but if it’s possible to get even happier, I’ll take it.”

Cyrus’ father, Billy Ray, got marriage rumors swirling last April when he tweeted a picture of his daughter looking ever-so-happy in a white bridal-esque dress, captioning the picture, “I’m so happy… you are happy.”

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Cyrus has been sporting the same Neil Lane diamond ring Hemsworth gave her during their first engagement in 2012, even though she told Ellen DeGeneres it’s not quite her style.

“This is really weird, because this is like real jewelry and most of my jewelry is made out of gummy bears and cotton candy … they don’t look that good together because they kind of mix up,” she said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2016. “So sometimes I replace it with an actual unicorn or a Looney Tune. And kind of like, What’s going on? I am like, This isn’t really my aesthetic, but I’ll wear it because you love me.”

Meghan Markle just took a big step towards becoming a member of the royal family

Do we hear wedding bells?

prince harry and meghan markle wedding

From the editors of People
Words by Monique Jessen

Meghan Markle arrived in London this week, and there’s only one place she’s staying — with Prince Harry at the palace.

Markle, who reportedly just wrapped her last season on Suits, has already semi-immersed herself into London life during many under-the-radar trips to the capital. And she is now preparing for a more permanent move across the pond.

‘Harry has made no secret of the fact that he wants to marry her,’ a source tells People. ‘She is the one.’

During the last year, Markle has been spotted walking around Prince Harry’s neighbourhood in Kensington, carrying Whole Foods shopping bags (the health food store is a short stroll from Harry’s cottage), picking up flowers and visiting a spa in Soho on the eve of Pippa Middleton’s wedding. But it was an invite to Buckingham Palace for tea with the Queen last month that is most indicative of how serious things are between the two.

While their relationship has been moving along very quickly behind the scenes (they even chose their first Christmas tree together last December), the first public show of affection between the royal couple was at the Invictus Games in Toronto in September, when the two walked hand-in-hand into the wheelchair tennis event. A few days later, Harry was photographed kissing Markle when he joined her and her mother, Doria Ragland, in a private box during the event’s closing ceremony.

On Markle’s part, she has not shied away from expressing her feelings towards Harry, telling Vanity Fair in their October issue: ‘We’re two people who are really happy and in love.’

Hinting at the pressures they might one day face, she said: ‘I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time.’

Markle will live with Harry at his two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace, where staff already know Markle. In a similar fashion, Prince William and Kate Middleton lived together at St. Andrews university and then at a secluded farmhouse in North Wales briefly before they wed in April 2011. There has been speculation that one day Harry will move into Apartment 1 at the palace which has 21 rooms and is currently the home of the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

While Meghan prepares to say goodbye to her chic one-bedroom apartment in Toronto (including potentially relocating her beloved dogs Bogart and Guy), Harry has been making subtle changes at home in order to make it more girlfriend-friendly. ‘It’s not a question of if she’s moving in,’ says the insider, ‘it’s just a matter of when.’

Merck, Under Armour, Intel CEOs step down from Trump business panel

TRENTON, N.J. — The CEOs of athletic wear manufacturer Under Armour and pharmaceutical company Merck resigned Monday from the White House’s American Manufacturing Council — with the Merck withdrawal drawing a quick and angry Twitter outburst from President Donald Trump.

Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier cited the president’s failure to explicitly rebuke the white nationalists who marched in Charlottesville, Virginia, over the weekend. He wrote on Twitter Monday that “America’s leaders must honor our fundamental values by clearly rejecting expressions of hatred, bigotry and group supremacy, which runs counter to the American ideal that all people are created equal.”

Frazier is one of the few African-Americans to head a Fortune 500 company.

Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank resigned from the panel later Monday, saying his company “engages in innovation and sports, not politics.” Plank did not specifically mention Trump or Charlottesville, but said his company will focus on promoting “unity, diversity and inclusion” through sports.

Intel CEO Brian Krzanich also announced his resignation in a blog post.

“I have already made clear my abhorrence at the recent hate-spawned violence in Charlottesville, and earlier today I called on all leaders to condemn the white supremacists and their ilk who marched and committed violence,” he wrote. “I resigned because I want to make progress, while many in Washington seem more concerned with attacking anyone who disagrees with them. We should honor – not attack – those who have stood up for equality and other cherished American values. I hope this will change, and I remain willing to serve when it does.”

Trump was under increasing pressure to call out the white supremacist groups involved in the Charlottesville demonstration. He lashed out almost immediately at Frazier, saying on Twitter that he will now “have more time to LOWER RIPOFF DRUG PRICES!”

The president followed up later in the day, tweeting that Merck “is a leader in higher & higher drug prices while at the same time taking jobs out of the U.S. Bring jobs back & LOWER PRICES!”

Drugmakers have come under withering criticism for soaring prices in the U.S., including by Trump, though he has yet to act on a promise to contain them.

With the barbs, Trump appeared to attack an industry executive who has tried to make drug pricing somewhat more transparent by revealing his company’s overall drug price changes.

In January, Merck reported that its average net prices — the amount the company receives after discounts and other rebates — increased in the years since 2010 in a range between 3.4 percent and 6.2 percent per year. That’s about half as large as the increase in its retail prices. Much of the furor over drug prices recently has been over increases that have been far bigger and come one after another for drugs that have been on the market for years.

The exchange lit up social media early Monday, with many people lauding Frazier and blasting the president. Trump eventually made a statement condemning bigotry Monday afternoon at a press conference.

Meanwhile, other executives stated their support for Frazier.

Unilever CEO Paul Polman wrote on Twitter, “Thanks @Merck Ken Frazier for strong leadership to stand up for the moral values that made this country what it is.”

Frazier, who grew up in a poor neighborhood in Philadelphia, resigned from the manufacturing advisory council days after one person was killed and others wounded in violent clashes between white supremacists and protesters.

Frazier and his siblings were raised by their janitor father after their mother died when they were very young. He has earned a reputation as a risk taker in the drug industry, pouring money into daunting research areas, particularly trying to develop a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.

Frazier is not the first executive to resign from advisory councils serving Trump.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk resigned from the manufacturing council in June, and two other advisory groups to the president, after the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement. Walt Disney Co. Chairman and CEO Bob Iger resigned for the same reason from the President’s Strategic and Policy Forum, which Trump established to advise him on how government policy impacts economic growth and job creation.

William Galston, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, said he couldn’t “think of a parallel example” of any president responding as viciously as Trump to a CEO departing an advisory council.

The manufacturing jobs council had 28 members initially, but it has shrunk since it was formed earlier this year as executives retire, are replaced, or, as with Frazier and Musk, resign.

William Galston, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, said he couldn’t “think of a parallel example” of any president responding as viciously as Trump to a CEO departing an advisory council.

“Usually, certain niceties are observed to smooth over a rupture,” said Galston, who served as a domestic policy aide in the Clinton administration.

“We’ve learned that as president, Mr. Trump is behaving exactly as he did as a candidate,” Galston said. “He knows only one mode: When attacked, hit back harder.”

AP Economics Writer Josh Boak in Washington contributed to this story.

Poverty, lack of resources, and more obstacles than most adults will encounter in a lifetime can pose massive roadblocks for girls of color to achieve. For three young African American girls from Baltimore, none of these circumstances have held them back.

The audience waited anxiously not knowing what to expect. Was the film about dance, was it about adversity, was it meant to be inspirational, or was it all of the above?

The lights faded down and the documentary began.

During the film, we witness an in-depth look into each of these high school seniors lives as they fight to get out of their current situations, aiming for higher education as a means of escapism. We watch as they tackle adversity through the streets of Baltimore, Maryland, set on the backdrop of The Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women. While in school, we witness the ladies push to elevate the school’s step team, led by Gari “Coach G” McIntyre, which had previously been defined by a legacy of failure. We watch as they fight to change not only the team’s legacy but their own.

There was laughter, crying, and inspiration. “I’m like a notch down from Beyoncé, because I do still mess up. Beyoncé doesn’t mess up. But even if she does, she pulls it off so good and I just don’t even notice it,” said Tayla.

After the screening, I had a chance to interview the entire cast including the three lovely ladies: Blessin’, Cori, and Tayla; Coach G; the tough as nails guidance counselor, Paula Dofat; and director, Amanda Lipitz, who admittedly stated, she was unfamiliar with the depths of step but she knew dance and knew that this story was one that had to be told.

Step Documentary Screening (Image: Regina Walton) Step Documentary Screening L to R: Sequoia Blodgett, Amanda Lipitz, Gari “Coach G” McIntyre, Tayla Solomon, Paula Dofat, Cori Grainger, Blessin’ Giraldo (Image: Regina Walton)

“Step taught me discipline,” said Blessin. “When I entered my first year of college, I didn’t take any step classes because I wanted to be completely focused on school.”

“That woman crying in the film, that’s not me,” said Paula Dofat. “I’m tough as nails, but I really care for these girls and want to see them succeed.”

The crowd erupted after Cori made her announcement as to where she decided to attend school and what she decided to major in. All of a sudden a bidding war broke out and every tech company in the building was vying for her attention. I don’t want to give it away but, you can use your imagination. Now I’m left to wonder where she will choose to start her professional practices.

Check out the new movie Step in theaters Aug. 4. We know some of you sorors and frats may want to go in bulk, so if you’re interested in a group sale or a theater buyout, email tamia@valuepartnerships.com #StepisLife.

Amber Heard and Elon Musk Step Out in L.A.: ‘It’s Definitely Not a Casual Relationship,’ Says Source

After spending some family time with Elon Musk in his native Australia, Amber Heard and the tech mogul were spotted together back in Los Angeles over the weekend.

The couple, who had spent time together Down Under last month while Heard, 31, filmed Aquaman, had lunch at Sweet Butter in Los Angeles on Friday. “They were very casual and dined in,” an onlooker tells PEOPLE. “Elon had his arm around Amber as they waited in line.”

The eyewitness adds, “They ordered at the counter and sat down outside to wait for their salads. Elon paid and was pretty chatty. It was his first time at the restaurant so he asked questions about the menu. They were both very friendly and seemed happy.”

Dating rumors began swirling last year when Heard and Musk, 45, were spotted out together several times amid their respective divorces — Heard’s contentious divorce from Johnny Depp was finalized in January, and Musk filed for divorce from his second wife, Westworld actress Talulah Riley, in January 2015.

From Coinage: See Where 6 Stars Were Before They Were Famous

“They are getting more serious,” says a source close to the couple. “It’s definitely not a casual relationship. That’s not Elon. He doesn’t do anything casually.”

The source confirms that the Tesla founder “isn’t dating anyone else” and “is still very fascinated by Amber and loves her company. He seems very happy with her. She is spending a lot of time with his kids.”

While working in Australia, Heard spent a day sightseeing with Musk’s five sons. The actress shared a few snaps from the day out, showing the group goofing off together at the Sydney Opera House. Musk’s sons — Damian, Kai, Saxon, Xavier, Griffin — are from his marriage to his first wife, Justine. (The couple had another son, Nevada, who died at 10 weeks.)

The billionaire also shared photos from the day on his own Instagram account. In one snap, Musk is seen with his arm around Heard as one of his sons shows the couple something on his phone.

Channing Tatum And Jenna Dewan’s Daughter Had The Best Reaction To ‘Step Up’

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan clearly have a funny little girl on their hands.

During an interview with HuffPost on Build Series Friday, Dewan told a funny story about the first time the couple’s almost 4-year-old daughter, Everly, watched “Step Up.” It was accidental, and it didn’t go over too well.

As the “World of Dance” host and mentor explains it, the family was vacationing in Mexico when they turned on the TV and “Step Up” came on.

“It was so funny, we were like, ‘Everly, Everly, look! It’s mommy and daddy!’ At first she didn’t think it was us,” Dewan said. “She’s like, ‘That’s not you guys.’ And I’m like, ‘No, it’s us, Evie, it’s me!’ And then she goes, ‘Can we watch something good?’ Just like that, and we were humbled. One day she’ll maybe appreciate it on a different level, but yeah, she’s not so into it.”

We had to. #stepup10years

A post shared by Jenna Dewan Tatum (@jennadewan) on

To be honest, both Channing and Jenna are a little iffy about watching their on-screen performances in the 2006 film, which launched their careers and their relationship.

“We both cringe because … we’re just so baby new ― our acting, we’re like, ‘What are we doing there?!’ Dewan joked. “It’s so sweet. We were talking about it the other day, like, ‘Do we remember that routine at the end?’ I think when it was the 10-year anniversary we did the lift outside in our yard just to prove that we could still do it!” (They can still do it — watch the video above.

As for that other dance movie her dad’s in, Everly will “have a lot of questions” when she finally gets to see it, Dewan says.

“We got to show [’Magic Mike’] to her before one of her friends at school is like, ‘I saw this movie your dad’s in…’ She’s been at rehearsals so there’s a part of her that probably gets it.”

This Tween Fashion Brand Just Took A Big Step For Inclusivity

Growing up, Muslim fashion blogger Hassanah El-Yacoubi rarely saw Muslim girls like her represented in major American fashion brands. El-Yacoubi told The Huffington Post that this lack of representation in mainstream fashion campaigns creates an “identity complex” for young American Muslims. Many Muslim teens are balancing the challenges of teenage life with the added stress of having their identity as Americans questioned, and even being bullied because of their faith.

That’s why it was especially heartening for the blogger to see Justice, an Ohio-based retail company, reach out to young American Muslims in their latest marketing campaign.

Justice focuses exclusively on fashion for “tween” girls between the ages of 7 and 14. In a recent update to the company’s merchandise catalog, the company chose to include a young model wearing a bright blue hijab.

The image is now the brand’s cover photo on Facebook and is also featured on Justice’s website.

El-Yacoubi called Justice’s decision to include a young person in a hijab in its marketing campaign a “leap forward.”

“I honestly teared up when I saw the ad because it’s a celebration of what it means to be different and shows that difference is what makes us beautiful,” El-Yacoubi told The Huffington Post in an email. “It will help the youth cultivate a confident and stronger sense of self at such a young age. By seeing themselves represented throughout mainstream markets it will provide a feeling of belonging, something many of us wished we had growing up.”

Keriake Lucas, vice president of corporate communications for Justice, told The Huffington Post that the photo was part of a marketing campaign for January and February called “See Yourself In Justice.”

Lucas said the campaign was meant to showcase the diversity of the young girls that Justice hopes to reach. The updated catalog coincides with the release of new extended sizes.

“We’re looking at ways of continuing with our message around inclusivity,” she said. “We’re really proud to project to our girl that we are really dedicated to every girl, every day.”

Justice is part of the Ascena Retail Group Inc, which also manages brands like Dressbarn, Loft, and Lane Bryant. Justice has over 900 stores located in the United States, Canada, Russia and the Middle East.

Lucas said that this particular marketing campaign will also be featured in stores.

Sania Siddiqui, a fashion blogger and a mom, told The Huffington Post she would have loved to see an ad like this while she was growing up.

Now that I am a mother of a baby girl, I want her to be confident in her faith yet proud to be American. When Justice includes a young girl wearing hijab, it shows inclusivity to all young girls from different backgrounds,” Siddiqui wrote in an email. “America’s beauty comes from the diversity of its people. This encourages young American Muslims to be confident in their faith.”

Spring Step Pro Women’s Slip-On Black Manila Slip-Resistant Work Shoes

Spring Step Pro Women’s Slip-On Black Manila Slip-Resistant Work Shoes

It’s not a secret that women go through pain to look beautiful. There’s a lot of plucking and trimming and waxing and shaving — well, you pretty much know the drill. But the one part of your body that shouldn’t suffer is your feet because when you work you already put them through enough. So make your day a little more beautiful by wearing Spring Step Manila Black Skid-Resistant Slip-On Women’s Shoes. The uppers of these Spring Step shoes are basic black, which matches everything, and styled to be as simple as it gets. A glossy sweep of easy-to-clean leather creates a low-cut shell of softness to support your steps. You don’t need laces. Just use the movable back strap to get the perfect fit when you wear these slip-resistant shoes. You’ll already get the perfect feeling. Full-grain leather was used to create the uppers of these black shoes, stuff so fine it’s used to make everything from furniture to purses. Full-grain is so flexible and supple you’ll think you’re wearing velvet, but it’s so tough you might forget that you aren’t wearing steel when you wear these Manila shoes. It resists rain, wind, wear, and pretty much everything but whiny co-workers (we’re still looking for work shoes that do that). The cushioned insoles of these oil-resistant shoes are styled to be removable, and that makes them easy to clean. Arch support is built right in to give your steps the lift they need. The arch support prevents muscle strain and pain. Quick-drying material lines the inside of these Spring Step shoes to keep you more comfortable. The anti-microbial lining resists and repels odor-causing bacteria. It wicks moisture away from your skin to prevent and manage sweat. The shock-absorbing soles of these moisture-wicking shoes are made in a cushioning, triple density design to give you three layers of protection from the hard world beneath your feet. The soles are made with polyurethane, lightweight stuff that weighs less than rubber and absorbs even more impact. Non-skid rubber plugs are integrated into the design of these skid-resistant shoes to keep your stride steady and give you gripping traction everywhere you go. We’re not going to keep these Spring Step Manila Skid-Resistant Slip-On Black Women’s Shoes a secret any longer. They’re stylish, they’re comfortable, they’re strong and they’re not at all painful to wear. Who says beauty has to be so hard, anyway?Manufactured sizes: Medium: 5.5-10, 11 | Wide: 5.5-10, 11

Step This Way (Dr. Seuss/Cat in the Hat)

Step This Way (Dr. Seuss/Cat in the Hat)

Step into reading with the Cat in the Hat in this leveled reader all about different kinds of animal feet! Sally and Nick are having shoe trouble. Sally can’t stand up in her mom’s shoes, and her dad’s are too big for Nick. Not a problem, says the Cat. Feet come in all shapes and sizes, and to demonstrate, he takes them on a trip in the Thinga-ma-jigger to visit some friends: a duck with flat, wide feet good for swimming; a lemur with long, grasping toes good for climbing; and a gecko with tiny hairs on his feet that keep him from slipping. Written specifically for children learning how to read with help, this Step into Reading book about the different ways of “stepping” is based on an episode of the hit PBS Kids preschool science show The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!

Handcrafted Jewelry Step by Step: 5 Beginner Projects –1 Intermediate Project — Portable Jeweler’s Cart

Handcrafted Jewelry Step by Step 6 Original Advanced Designs THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS This book is not for you if you are not already well versed in hard soldering and using oxyacetylene equipment. Are you looking for Advanced Jewelry Design Projects? Well, then you’ve come to the right place. We’re offering five – count them – five step-by-step projects designed with the advanced jewelry worker in mind and one project for the intermediate level. I originally thought these designs could be for beginners or advanced beginners, but several buyer reviews have proven this thought wrong. Beginners should not purchase this book. And these are not just ordinary, ho hum, anybody can make ’em but nobody would want to wear ’em beginner projects. Four of these are projects that were chosen for publication in some of the best step-by-step jewelry magazines in America as well as internationally including Jewelry Artist, Jewelry Arts & Lapidary Journal, Wire Jewelry, and Step-by-Step Beads to name a few. You’ll also get one step-by-step design that was shown in Jewelry Artist only as a photo, not a completed how to do it design, and one step-by-step that is totally exclusive to this publication. We hope you have fun creating and wearing these truly distinctive and original designs by Joyce Zborower, a 40 year veteran in the field of jewelry design and creation.
