I have to say…. I am fortunate enough to reside in Ventura, CA. Most of the time, the waves and the weather are beyond perfect. Glassy 3-4+ waves with offshore winds and constant 75 degrees, I mean life could be worse.

Small Days Don't Slow Me Down| Taylor Phelps Surf Ladies Unleashed

However, I’d be lying if I told you EVERY day was perfect. There are those days when the winds aren’t in your favor and conditions are disastrous. It’s the full circle of life. You’ve got to have bad days in order to appreciate the good.

You rarely hear about those in-between days when the waves are barely a foot tall and it’s a struggle catching anything on your 9′ nose rider that you just dusted off. As a predominant shortboarder, I actually live for these days. When you gather your crew together and paddle out with no expectations. There is just something pure about it. Sitting out on the calm waters, laughing with your friends, catching as many waves as you can without caring about performance. To me, there is something magical about days like these.

Taylor Swift’s Lyrics Are Too Lame to Copyright, Judge Hilariously Rules

Kevork Djansezian/Getty

There are court cases and rulings that have changed lives—saved lives, even—and moved society forward, defending justice, democracy, and everything our country, at its purest, stands for. With all due respect to those monumental decisions, a judge mediating a copyright case involving Taylor Swift may have laid down one of the most iconic rulings of all time: Your lyrics are too lame to copyright.

Rather, the Honorable Michael W. Fitzgerald, judge and legend, ruled that the lyrics our problematic pop princess was accused of cribbing were too “banal” to warrant any sort of copyright protection. “Too brief, unoriginal, and uncreative,” he wrote, approving his motion to dismiss the case against Swift, before dusting his shoulders off and shouting, “YA BURNT!” as he sashayed away.

The exquisitely-crafted line of culture-altering poetry in question came from Swift’s 2014 single “Shake It Off,” which the singer co-wrote with Max Martin and Shellback. “‘Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play / And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate,” Swift sings at the intro of her earworm, which shot straight to number one on both the Billboard charts and list of songs every wedding DJ is obligated to play at receptions.

But now Mueller, 56, started a new job at a Mississippi station, working for radio boss who believes he is innocent.

However, according to TMZ, the controversital Disc jockey was forced to evacuate his first day at work due to a bomb hoax.

Cops confirmed they are probing a sinister email which pointed to his hiring while calling in a bomb threat.

Mueller was sacked from his original radio job and sued the mega-star for loss of earnings after the scandal.

A judge threw out his claims and Taylor counter-sued for sexual assault.

He said: “I never wanted to leave radio from the moment I was out on the street with no job and no income.”

His new boss Delta Radio CEO David Fuss told the Washington Post he believes in Mueller’s innocence.

He added: “He is a very good on-air talent.

“It’s extremely difficult to get people to come to the Mississippi Delta to work.

“I felt like he needed a break or a second chance.”

Swifty fans were outraged.

One tweeted: “They are giving him the power he wants. He could take advantage of someone else now, its sick.”

Another called him a “deranged groper”.

During sexual assault trial, the Shake It Off songwriter wiped away tears as she told a jury: “It was a definite grab, a very long grab.

“He stayed latched on to my bare a** cheek as I lurched away from him. (His hand) didn’t let go.”

Questioned by the attorney as to whether it might simply have been a case of mistaken identity on her part, she fired back: “He had a handful of my ass. I know it was him.”

The judge ruled in favour of Swift who was awarded a symbolic $ 1 (77p) in the civil case.

Taylor’s mum Andrea Swift, 59, told a court her daughter was left “destroyed” by Mueller’s alleged actions.

In a statement, the pop star said: “I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this.

“My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard.

“Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organisations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”

Joel Taylor of Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers Dead at Age 38

The storm chasing community is reeling from the news of Joel Taylor’s sudden death. He was 38.

The Elk City, Oklahoma, native, who starred on Discovery Channel’s documentary reality television series Storm Chasers, died on Tuesday, according to his friends who shared the sad news on social media.

The cause of Joel’s death remains unclear at this time. It is not believed to be storm chasing-related.

Reps for the Discovery Channel did not immediately respond to a request for comment from PEOPLE.

Best friend and former costar Reed Timmer dedicated a touching message to Taylor on Twitter.

“RIP my best friend and storm chasing partner, Joel Taylor. I am shocked and absolutely devastated by the loss of my incredible, caring friend,” Timmer tweeted along with photos of them when they were chasing storms together since 2008.

“We chased so many intense storms, and I wish we could have just one more storm chase. I’ll miss you forever, Joel. We lost a legend,” added Timmer, who attended the University of Oklahoma with Taylor, who studied meteorology.

Another friend, Mike Olbinski, remembered Taylor’s bright smile.

“I was lucky enough to meet Joel a few years ago at Reed’s wedding. He was so kind to me and we got to hang out for a bit during those few days,” Olbinski tweeted with a photo from the wedding. “I snapped this photo of him and that just seemed like who he was. A huge smile. RIP Joel Taylor…you will be so missed.”

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Taylor’s storm chasing team also expressed their condolences.

“Our community of Elk City and the Storm Chasing community lost a great guy today. Joel Taylor was truly an inspiration to myself and many who knew him. He was one of the most level headed chasers on the roads and truly a classy guy outside of chasing,” Team Western OK Chaser shared on Facebook.

“He didn’t chase for the glory he chased because he had a true passion for storms. In the last few years he’d load up with his dad and go chase and not even take a camera,” the group said. “Our hearts are hurting for his mom Tracy and dad Jimmy along with his brother and sister and their children. Please know you are in our prayers. RIP Joel.”

Storm Chasers was filmed each year in the area known as Tornado Alley due to the frequency and severity of tornadoes occurring there in the central part of the country. Several teams of storm chasers appeared in the series and Taylor joined the cast in early 2008 as part of the team from the website TornadoVideos.Net (TVN) that was led by Timmer.

The show was canceled after five seasons in January 2012.

Maci and Taylor Talk Adopting After Miscarriage on ‘Teen Mom OG’

Babies, engagements and anniversaries, oh my! The Monday, January 22, episode of Teen Mom OG kicked off with Amber Portwood introducing boyfriend Andrew Glennon to the show’s producers and revealed that they were pregnant. Amber actually said that even though they only met three months ago, neither of them were surprised by the news since they hadn’t been using birth control.

Later, Andrew told another producer that before Amber, he wasn’t looking for a relationship. However, “something gravitational” brought them together. He did admit he’s “slightly terrified” but that their relationship just “feels so right.”

Amber later told another producer that she went off her bipolar medicine a month before (two months after meeting him), because she felt she didn’t need them now that she was with him. He was much more positive than anyone she had ever been around.

Tyler’s Stress Gets the Best of Him

Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra tried to focus on launching their clothing line, but it was adding a lot of stress on Tyler. He revealed to his mom that he hadn’t been sleeping and didn’t want to take any medicine for that. He said that maybe he needed to go to a treatment center, but was so busy trying to finish the house and take care of his dad. He also had very low self-esteem and hoped he could somehow figure out how to treat it all.

Farrah’s Dad Gets Engaged

Still on vacation in Italy, Farrah Abraham helped her dad propose to his girlfriend, Amy, inside the Emerald Grotto. He pulled out his phone and read her a poem that ended with a proposal, and she said yes!

Afterward, Debra Danielsen met up with them and gave them an engagement gift. She even cried when congratulating them and they all went to eat together. Farrah ended their meal by saying that vacations were better without Debra’s fiancé.

Maci and Taylor Talk Future Babies

Maci Bookout and Taylor McKinney headed to dinner in a limo to celebrate their anniversary. However, after Amber told them she was pregnant and a friend sent them a text with baby emojis, the topic of more children took over their dinner.

Maci told Taylor she wasn’t crazy about having another baby but did want to adopt in a year or two. When he asked her again about having another child, she admitted that if he really wanted to, she would do it, but wanted to do it as soon as possible.

He said that once they started trying, they’d have no trouble. That was when Maci brought up that they had miscarried earlier that year. He didn’t want to discuss it on TV, especially since they hadn’t yet told their families, but she thought it was important that others who went through it, saw the conversation.

Teen Mom OG airs on MTV Mondays at 9 p.m. ET.

Taylor Swift sent fans flowers for their wedding, and her personal note will make you cry

It’s no secret that Taylor Swift has a, well, reputation. (Sorry.) But a big part of that reputation is how kind and generous Swift can be to her fans. It’s an admirable quality in any person with a public presence. But we especially love Swift’s acts of kindness toward her fans because they always seem so genuine and personal. And her most recent gift is no exception: Taylor Swift sent a couple flowers with a sweet personal note on their wedding day.

Lexi and Brittany, high school sweethearts, dated for nine years before deciding to get married. According to their TheKnot.com wedding website, they cite Taylor Swift’s song “Love Story” as a huge part of their relationship. In fact, the couple even used lyrics from the song as part of their proposal!

“Her entire proposal was straight from the heart, no hand written [sic] speech,” Lexi wrote. “I remember I couldn’t stop shaking. I kept thinking, this is the moment, after all these years… I’m about to say YES! She ended her speech with the best line of all time. As she got down on one knee she said… ‘So I talked to your dad, now it’s time to pick out a white dress…will you marry me?’”

Of course, those are lyrics from Taylor Swift’s “Love Story.”

And we’re completely in love. The only thing more adorable than Lexi and Brittany’s sweet proposal? The beautiful flowers and heartfelt note that Taylor Swift sent them on their wedding day!

“Lexi & Brittany, You have no idea how honored I am that ‘Love Story’ has been such a big part of your beautiful love story. I’m absolutely thrilled that Lexi said YES! Have the most magical wedding day and hopefully I can meet you both soon! Love, Taylor.”

We’re not crying, you’re crying.

Congratulations, Lexi and Brittany! We wish you all the best in the next phase of your love story.

Taylor Swift Is the ‘Happiest I’ve Ever Seen Her,’ Says Pal Todrick Hall

Living her best life! Taylor Swift’s longtime pal Todrick Hall opened up about the 28-year-old Grammy winner’s state of mind after releasing her new album, Reputation, in November.

“I think she’s the happiest I’ve ever seen her,” Hall, 32, said during his visit to The Kid Kraddick Morning Show on Thursday, December 14.

The American Idol alum also recalled a time where Swift was unhappy with a former flame and shared that she’s now in a much better place. “There was a time last year — I don’t know if I’m supposed to say anything — she was dating someone. I’d actually never met this person, but I could I could just tell every time I would talk to her, she would hunch over,” he revealed. “I sent her this picture of her as Quasimodo that I edited. Because I was like, ‘You cannot turn into Quasimodo for this guy. Every time you say his name, you hunch over.’”

Hall added: “Now, she’s so happy. Standing up completely straight and so tall and so confident. I just love it. I’m so, so happy for her and I cannot wait to see this tour.”

As previously reported, Swift is gearing up for her highly anticipated Reputation world tour and her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, will join her for a few stops on the road. “[Taylor’s] gonna be on tour soon and Joe will be there and she realized there’s no point in not living her life,” a source previously told Us Weekly of the couple. “All her friends know about their relationship anyway. She feels confident in their relationship and Joe really loves her. She really thinks he might be the one.”

Hall also spoke candidly about how the “End Game” songstress responds to criticism. “She’s very sensitive. We were talking about this the other day and I was like, ‘It blows my mind that you’re so humble and so sensitive.’ We were hanging out at her house and Tiffany Haddish was there and she was saying something about some comment a kid said, and you could tell that it made Taylor’s entire energy shift because she just loves people so much and she wants everybody to understand where she’s coming from. But I think it’s that passion and that humble quality about her that makes her so great at writing songs that people identify with because she wears her heart on her sleeve. When things happen, it really, really gets to her.”

The choreographer also complimented the “Delicate” crooner for caring so deeply about others and being the best hostess: “She’s just so thoughtful.”

The Reputation tour kicks off at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on May 2, 2018. For more dates, click here.

DJ Countersued by Taylor Swift for Groping Her Says He Paid Her $1 Last Week

The radio DJ ordered to pay a symbolic $ 1 to Taylor Swift after he groped her during a photo op said he mailed her the money last week.

David Mueller told the Associated Press that he sent Swift a Sacagawea coin and provided proof of payment to the outlet, which he said was sent on Nov. 28.

The former radio host previously told the AP he intended the coin to be a final jab at the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer as the Sacagawea dollar features a prominent female Native American.

“I mean if this is all about women’s rights. … It’s a little poke at them, a little bit,” he told the AP. “I mean, I think they made this into a publicity stunt, and this is my life.”

Mueller sued Swift claiming she falsely accused him of groping her. He sought up to $ 3 million in damages. When Swift countersued, a federal jury in Denver, Colorado, ruled in Swift’s favor.

Swift was named one of TIME‘s Person of the Year, and appeared on the cover as one of the “Silence Breakers” for speaking out about her assault. In the magazine story published Wednesday, Swift said she hadn’t received the dollar.

The singer told the magazine in the interview that she was tired of how court proceedings were going by the time she testified.

“I had already been in court all week and had to watch this man’s attorney bully, badger and harass my team including my mother over inane details and ridiculous minutiae, accusing them, and me, of lying,” Swift said.

She continued, “My mom was so upset after her cross-examination, she was physically too ill to come to court the day I was on the stand. I was angry. In that moment, I decided to forego any courtroom formalities and just answer the questions the way it happened. This man hadn’t considered any formalities when he assaulted me, and his lawyer didn’t hold back on my mom—why should I be polite? I’m told it was the most amount of times the word “a—” has ever been said in Colorado Federal Court.”

Swift’s straightforward testimony was lauded by many for its strength. When she was asked why the photos she’d taken with Mueller during the assault hadn’t shown evidence of wrongdoing, the singer simply said, “Because my a— is located at the back of my body.”

Taylor Bennett and Urban Outfitters Are Giving Back to Homeless Youth

Taylor Bennett

Independent music artist and entrepreneur Taylor Bennett is partnering with Urban Outfitters to give back to homeless youth this holiday season.

The 21-year-old Chicago native, who happens to be the younger brother of hip-hop star Chance The Rapper, is one of eight creatives selected to participate in “The Giving Guide” campaign, presented by FujiFilm and Urban Outfitters. Through the campaign, the retail store will donate $ 5,000 to eight different charities chosen by the creatives.

Taylor Bennett (Photo Credit: Photographer: Anna Zajac)

In an interview published on Urban Outfitters Blog, Bennett talked about why he chose to support La Casa Norte, an organization that helps provide homeless youth and families with housing and other resources. “I’m proud to work with La Casa Norte here in Chicago,” he said. “In 2002, La Casa Norte opened its doors to youth and families in Humboldt Park. Over the past 15 years, they have helped over 25,000 individuals from 43 Chicagoland zip codes move towards housing stability, self-sufficiency, and financial security.”

Although Bennett grew up in a prominent, politically connected family in Chicago’s West Chatham, he revealed that he has supported friends who have been homeless. “I have friends who have often had to stay at my house, another friend’s, or slept on the train. I have friends that wouldn’t go home because of issues with their families,” he said. “Chicago Public Schools (CPS) identified a record 22,144 students experiencing homelessness or housing instability in 2013-14.” Bennett, who came out as bisexual in January, added that “a large portion of homeless youth is LGBTQ.”

Bennett also opened up about working with the clothing company. “I love Urban Outfitters,” he told Black Enterprise, noting that he was an ambassador of the retailer’s pride collection earlier this year, which celebrated the LGBTQ students. “I love the fact that they’re helping not just artists, but influencers, give back to a charity of their choice.”

In addition to being a fan of Urban Outfitters clothing, Bennett says partnering with the company has given him an opportunity to gain exposure for his brand and issues he cares about. “I think it’s very important to get your face out there,” he said, and “to be able to collaborate with major corporations that can give you platforms that…artists might not be able to get through music videos and touring.”

Taylor Bennett (Photo Credit: Photographer: Anna Zajac)

When he’s not making music and building his brand, Bennett is focused on up-and-coming artists like Bianca Shaw, a rapper out of Chicago signed to his indie music label Tay Bennett Entertainment. He started the label in 2015 with his own money, without investors or a parent company. Now, he uses the label to teach artists the ins and outs of the industry while giving them a chance to be at the front of their image and art. “It’s just important to be in control of your marketing and your music. I think if you create something, then you should be in charge of how you sell it.”

After working with Urban Outfitters for two campaigns and other big name brands like Timberland and Footaction, Taylor says he’s hoping to collaborate with designer cap company New Era next year. “We have something in the works with New Era, which should be really dope. I think they’re one of the best hat companies. I grew up wearing New Era hats.”

Ultimately, by building his brand, Bennett hopes to continue to be an inspirational voice for others. “If you have a platform to help and give back then you should.”

Jack Antonoff Shares Insight Into the Making of Taylor Swift’s ‘New Year’s Day’

Out of all the producers Taylor Swift teamed up with for her new album Reputation, one was the indie-pop favorite collaborator Jack Antonoff.

While Antonoff fronts his own band, Bleachers, he also is busy in the studio working with artists like Lorde and St. Vincent to bring their latest albums to life, too.

After Swift performed one of her Antonoff-co-written songs on Monday night’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to an emotional reception, the producer took to Twitter to share a little bit of the back story of the piano-driven ballad “New Year’s Day.”

“Taylor doing New Year’s Day on Fallon was beautiful,” Antonoff wrote. “That song means a lot to me. Happened so quickly at my apartment. We texted the next morning to make sure it wasn’t a dream.”

It’s the only ballad and the final track on the much-hyped album, detailing the decaying glitter of the day after a big party — and the tender nostalgia of everyday, through-thick-and-thin love. With specific references that paint a vivid, recognizable picture — “Girls carrying their shoes down in the lobby / Candle wax and Polaroids on the hardwood floor” — it might also be one of her most relatable tracks on Reputation.

Who is Joe Alwyn?

Joe Alwyn, 26, is a rising British actor whose most recent film role came in the critically-acclaimed The Sense of an Ending.

He was born in Crouch End, London, on February 21 1991, and graduated from the National Youth Theatre before studying at the University of Bristol and London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

His big breakthrough came when he played the title role in Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, which came out last year.

Prior to his audition for the much-coveted part, the 26-year-old had never even stepped in front of a camera.

Directed by double Oscar-winning director Ang Lee, the war film saw him star alongside Hollywood heavyweights Kristen Stewart, Vin Diesel and Steve Martin.

The Sense of an Ending, released earlier this year, again saw the up-and-coming star rub shoulders with acting royalty, appearing opposite Jim Broadbent and Charlotte Rampling.

You’ll next be able to see Joe on the big screen in Keepers – a psychological thriller also starring Scottish hunk Gerard Butler – and The Favourite, featuring Oscar winner Emma Stone.

“But after what happened with Tom Hiddleston, they were determined to keep it quiet.”

Confirming the romance, a close friend said: “This isn’t a new couple alert or a secret relationship – the only people this has been a secret to is the media because all of us, Taylor and Joe’s closest friends and their families, were aware they have been together for several months and have known each other for a longtime.

“After her 1989 tour and all the attention Taylor received, she learned she had to be more protective of her personal life and she and Joe decided early on to keep their private life private.”

Who else has Taylor Swift dated?

Taylor is desperate for her latest relationship to avoid becoming a circus, which has hindered her previous romances – with Joe said to be just as keen to avoid the spotlight.

The singing superstar has dated a string of A-list celebrities, from Joe Jonas back in 2008 to Tom Hiddleston, star of The Night Manager (and potential next James Bond) last year.

‘Hiddleswift’ became a global phenomenon after The Sun revealed sensational photos of the pair canoodling on a Rhode Island beach, but their relationship fizzled out late in 2016.

Taylor has also been involved in brief romances with Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhall and One Direction singer Harry Styles.

“Two Ghosts”, a track on Harry’s recently released debut solo album, was revealed to be about his former beau live on BBC Radio 1 by his close pal Nick Grimshaw.

Taylor’s longest-lived romance was with Scottish DJing megastar Calvin Harris.

Dubbed ‘Tayvin’, the loved-up duo shared a year of adorable Instagram snaps and PDAs at awards ceremonies before going their separate ways in the summer of 2016.

Why is Taylor Swift ghosting the world?

There’s a blank space in the pop world, and it’s where Taylor Swift used to be. The pop starlet releases “Reputation” on Friday — her sixth album and easily this year’s most anticipated record. But since the release of the first single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” in August, Swift has done no interviews,…

Taylor Swift Is Ready For You to See Inside Her Secret Sessions

If you were one of 500 lucky fans hand-picked by Taylor Swift to attend one of her “Secret Sessions” over the past month, you got a chance to meet the star in-person — and to listen to her upcoming album Reputation well ahead of its public release date, which is this Friday, Nov. 10.

In videos posted to her social media and YouTube on Tuesday, Swift shared a peek inside the experience. According to the video, she personally selected the fans from all over the world over the course of a year, inviting them to small home gatherings everywhere from London to L.A. and Rhode Island to hear her sixth studio album in all its glory.

And some fans might even look familiar: sharp-eyed music insiders will spot her producer Jack Antonoff making an appearance in one clip. “This is like the best show I’ve ever been to,” you can hear him gush.

“Every song is a freakin’ masterpiece, and we all were speechless,” another attendee swoons.

“It’s exactly what everyone’s saying it is. It’s so different, but so her,” adds a third.

“The new tunes are phenomenal. I think Taylor overall, whether it be in her music or right now, is living her best, unapologetically honest life,” another says.

Swift has kept up a steady stream of advance releases over the past month to sate her fans, following up lead single and initial chart hit “Look What You Made Me Do” with “…Ready For It?”, “Gorgeous” and last week’s “Call It What You Want.”

We decode the secret symbols and subtle shade in Taylor Swift’s ‘…Ready For It’

Swifties weren’t ready for it, but the newly released music video could be confirming some popular fan theories

From the editors of PEOPLE

By Karen Mizoguchi

In this anime-inspired visual, Taylor Swift plays with themes seen in sci-fi films such as Tron and Blade Runner as well as Ghost in the Shell, specifically Major Motoko’s cyborg shell. A little inspired by the video game franchise, Final Fantasy, perhaps?

The latest Joseph Kahn-directed footage from her new album Reputation also contains follow-up references to her Look What You Made Me Do video as well as her past music videos. (Proof that the old Taylor Swift is alive and well). Here’s what to expect:

1. Shout-outs to boyfriend Joe Alwyn

Look closely in the opening scenes and you’ll find the number 89 – a nod to her birth year and album title, 1989. And what’s that 91 in yellow? It could be a reference to boyfriend Alwyn’s birth year: 1991.

After all, she does sing: ‘Knew he was a killer/ First time that I saw him.’ Alwyn’s first-ever movie was last year’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, in which he starred as a U.S. soldier stricken with PTSD after a deadly firefight during the Iraq war. And in another shout-out to Alwyn, the name ‘Joseph’ is shown in Chinese calligraphy at 0:28. (Or could it be for director Joseph Kahn?)

2. The snake is back

Don’t think the snake references are gone. Swift slyly included ‘Year of the Snake’ (蛇年) in Chinese calligraphy, seen in one of the alleyways (at 0:22).

Swift has been embracing the snake image and using it to promote her new music, most prominently in Look What You Made Me Do, which featured a CGI snake. She is also selling serpentine merchandise in support of her upcoming Reputation album.

3. Secret messages hiding on the walls

Is the star sending messages to her fans with these affirmations on the wall? There’s even a reference in there to the latest single from Reputation, Gorgeous.

4. Breaking free from the media

Some fans have suggested that the glass box that cyborg Taylor is trapped in, could be representative of how Swift sees her relationship with the media.

5. Calvin Harris

All those luminescent lightning bolts could be to refresh everyone’s memory about her songwriting collaboration with ex-boyfriend Harris for the 2016 single with Rihanna This Is What You Came For. The lightning bolts recall the single’s cover art and the line, ‘lighting strikes every time you move’, and we’ve definitely seen that color scheme before.

6. Is the old Taylor really dead?

In …Ready for It? it’s clear that Swift is battling herself, yet there are subtle references to her old music videos. Swift has collaborated with Kahn on at least three records previously. Fans noticed similarities in some of the poses from …Ready for It in two of Swift’s previous collaborations with Kahn: Out of the Woods and Bad Blood.

In addition, Bad Blood and …Ready for It? both featured futuristic themes throughout the videos, with similar choreography.

In keeping with the theory that Swift has revisited many of her past music videos, the Grammy winner’s latest video also features a white horse, a possible throwback to her 2008 track White Horse from the Fearless album. Swift also rode a white stallion in her Blank Space video.

7. The look

Swift’s makeup, specifically the winged eyeliner is very similar to that of her Blank Space character. And the red lipstick is back too. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the album brings.

Taylor Swift Transforms Into a Nude Cyborg in ‘…Ready for It?’ We Are So Not Ready.

In August, Taylor Swift released a series of blurry, pseudo-artsy snakes on her social media. As fans struggled to find meaning in this serpentine imagery Swift upped the ante, sharing a promo image for her new album, Reputation—a sultry, black and white portrait that managed to beautifully capture all the angst and font-play of a middle school computer class project. While Swift gets a solid B/B+ in graphic design, her ability to dominate the national conversation—and in the midst of a solar eclipse, no less!—is unparalleled. With some grainy reptile footage and a “Fake News” narrative, Swift ushered in the next stage of her controversial career.

#TBT: When Taylor Swift Shared a Cover With Hilary Duff and Lauren Conrad

Where were you on October 13, 2008? Well, that was the day Us Weekly‘s Style Issue came out on newsstands, featuring a trio of It girls: Taylor Swift, Hilary Duff, and Lauren Conrad. At the time, Swift was just 18 years old, Duff was 20, and Conrad was the oldest at 22. If they seem like an unlikely group, you’re definitely on to something: We couldn’t find any photos of the trio together post-2008, making this throwback cover all the more iconic.

The images show just how much their style has evolved since then: Swift was still in her cowboy-boots-and-curly-hair phase, Conrad wore a bubble-hem minidress, and Duff wore a long tank top with skinny leather pants. Although their outfits are more mature these days—Conrad and Duff are moms now after all—we couldn’t resist looking back at their cute style from nine years ago.

Scroll down to see the throwback cover shoot featuring Taylor Swift, Hilary Duff, and Lauren Conrad.

Meet Taylor Phelps

Hey surfers of the internet and I mean that in the most literal sense. I’m a 25-year-old surfer from Ventura, California and have been prompted to share with all of you a bit about myself and where I currently reside… so here goes nothing.

If you were to have me point out Ventura on a map, I would direct you somewhere along the shoreline just below Santa Barbara because almost EVERYONE is familiar with the County of Santa Barbara.

Town of Ventura. Photo by @visitventura
Town of Ventura. Photo by @visitventura

Ventura is home to surfers and sailors, brew masters and beer lovers, antique shop and small business owners, Patagonia and REI employees, and one of the most notorious point breaks in central California, C-Street. The community is truly something special and I can say with confidence that I’m fortunate enough to have learned to surf here.

I couldn’t even tell you the exact age I started surfing, but what I can tell you is, once I started I never stopped. Being in the water was always my favorite activity as a kid. With sun bleached hair and salty skin, you couldn’t drag me out of the ocean if you tried.

At a young age, I’ve always had what my dad called “a natural athletic ability” but surfing felt like a completely foreign language to me. It was by far one of the hardest sports for me to perfect (and I’m still perfecting). I couldn’t get my rhythm and the movement of the ocean down. It was incredibly frustrating, but for whatever reason… I kept trying.

To this day I’m not sure what kept me coming back. Maybe it was my fascination with the ocean or my fear of failure, but I wanted to be a surfer and didn’t stop until I was. I vividly remember the day it all clicked, the day Mother Nature and I worked in unison with one another, the day I considered myself a surfer.

At this time I was already standing up and surfing, but I was never content riding white wash. This was the day I felt connected with the ocean, timed my takeoff, and rode the face of an open wave. To this day, I’ve never felt anything quite as freeing as that feeling. It was magical to be in perfect harmony with the water, rapidly moving along an element in motion.

Taylor Phelps Surfing
Taylor Phelps Surfing

That alone is one of the MANY reasons surfing means so much to me. The ocean has always been my “happy place” and surfing is just another way for me to spend more time out at sea.

From mocking Katy Perry to blasting Kanye West and Kim Kardashian… we reveal all the taunts in Taylor Swift’s vengeful video for Look What You Made Me Do

AFTER a year in hiding, Taylor Swift took just four minutes and 16 seconds to drive a poisoned sword through each of her many showbiz enemies.

The video for new single Look What You Made Me Do contains barely concealed barbs against a hit list that includes Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry.

Taylor Swift drops new music video for 'Look What You Made Me Do'

Three days on from its record-breaking debut, the video has been watched more than 58million times, with fans spotting references to the A-list victims of pop’s new femme fatale.

Here, we untangle the web of wars behind the most vengeful music video in history.

The tilted graveyard

Taylor allegedly references Kanye West's tilted stage the rapper used on his tour
Taylor allegedly references Kanye West's tilted stage the rapper used on his tour

THE Thriller-inspired video opening begins in a cemetery and zooms in on a tombstone reading: “Here lies the reputation of Taylor Swift.”

As the music kicks in, a zombified Taylor sings: “Don’t like your tilted stage . . . I don’t like you.”

Given Kanye West had a tilting stage on his tour last year it is clear whose blood this zombie is after.

Previously, Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian posted audio footage online in which Taylor apparently approves a lyric Kanye wrote about her in his track Famous.

But Taylor later said she never agreed to the line – “I made that bitch famous” – and was left deeply hurt by it.

The Nils Sjoberg tombstone

BLINK and you’ll miss it, but in the opening scene a tombstone bears the name Nils Sjoberg – a pseudonym Taylor used as her song-writing credit on This Is What You Came For, a track by Taylor’s DJ ex Calvin Harris.

After their split last year, Calvin took to Twitter to claim Taylor was trying to “bury” him like she had another music enemy, Katy Perry.

But now it seems Taylor has laid her ex – and her old pen name – to rest.

The boys

Taylor's backing dancers wore similar shirts to the one Tom Hiddleston was pictured in
Taylor's backing dancers wore similar shirts to the one Tom Hiddleston was pictured in

TAYLOR is backed by eight male dancers who each don an “I Heart TS” T-shirt – the message actor Tom Hiddleston was snapped wearing during her annual Fourth of July party last year.

It is also worth noting she has eight very famous exes who, with Tom, include Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal, Conor Kennedy, Calvin Harris, Harry Styles and John Mayer.

Given Harry and John were named and shamed in previous singles by the revenge-loving singer, Brit Tom can consider himself to have got off relatively lightly.

The lookalike

Taylor shows off one of her many Grammy awards

THEY both count John Mayer as an ex, and it’s no surprise Taylor’s arch-nemesis Katy Perry comes under heavy fire.

In the latest tit-for-tat in a long-running feud, which began when Katy allegedly stole backing dancers from her rival mid-tour in 2013, Taylor transforms into a lookalike of her former friend before crashing a gold sports car into a pole.

Splash News

With her spiky blonde hair and leopard-print outfit – which Katy is regularly spotted in, including in the video for her own song, Roar – it is clear who Taylor is emulating in this scene.

But there is one glaring inconsistency. After the car crash Taylor, as Katy, is seen holding a Grammy.

Katy has yet to win one.

Taylor has ten.

The Shakespeare

Look closely and you'll catch the Shakespeare quote on Taylor's throne
Look closely and you'll catch the Shakespeare quote on Taylor's throne

IN another blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, as the camera pans up to take in Taylor sitting on a golden throne, you can see a line from Shakespeare on the arm of the chair.

It is “Et tu, Brute” from Julius Caesar, the words uttered by the emperor after he is stabbed in the back by his former friends.

This dig could be aimed at pretty much anyone in showbiz given Taylor’s gift for falling out with her fellow celebrities – and her taste for revenge, which would make even the Bard of Avon pale.

The diamond-filled bath

AFTER the video’s opening scenes attacking Kanye, wife Kim Kardashian does not escape either.

Taylor is seen singing in a bath filled with diamonds, before she fires an imaginary gun and bites down on a bling choker.

Fans were quick to point out that this could be a nod to Kim being held at gunpoint during her Paris jewellery heist in January. The flashy reality star was left tied up with duct tape by masked raiders in a bath in her rented apartment.

The thieves made off with £8.5million of her jewellery, including a choker.

The $ 1 bill

DJ David Mueller was ordered to pay Taylor $ 1 in damages following a lawsuit

THE single dollar bill on top of Taylor’s glittering gems is a bullet – with one man’s name on.

In 2015, DJ David Mueller sued the singer and claimed she got him sacked from US radio station KYGO after she told his bosses he groped her, during a meet-and-greet two years earlier. After his suit – which he lost – Taylor countersued Mueller for assault and battery and two weeks ago a jury ruled in her favour.

The former DJ was ordered to pay her requested damages . . . a symbolic single dollar.

The snakes

Taylor has embraced snakes after being branded one by Kim Kardashian

TAYLOR is also spotted wearing snake-shaped diamond jewellery.

This is a clear dig at Kanye and Kim.

During the Famous lyrics fallout, fans flooded Taylor’s social media accounts calling her a snake and completing their captions with snake emojis.

The name stuck, as she has been referenced as such online ever since, including by Kim.

While Taylor had the emoji banned from being posted on her accounts at the time, she now appears to be embracing it.

She started selling serpent rings on her new merchandise store launched this weekend.

The robbery

Taylor is said to be taking aim at streaming services in this section of the video
Taylor is said to be taking aim at streaming services in this section of the video

WEB theorists thought Taylor and her crew of pussycat-balaclava-clad robbers breaking into a vault could be another dig at Kim’s Paris ordeal.

But they were wrong.

The name “Stream Co” is on top of the vault Taylor is stealing from, as she swings a baseball bat.

This scene is a nod to her row with streaming services such as Spotify, who she took on in 2014 by removing her music from all platforms. She then released a statement saying they were “devaluing” musicians by not paying the stars enough.

Three years later, on June 9, Taylor suddenly made her full discography available on Spotify, Tidal and other services – the same day rival Katy Perry released her new album, Witness.

The squad

Taylor's squad features lots of leggy models

ONE of the final scenes sees Taylor in a black latex bodysuit leading an army of blank-faced, identikit models at a bunker called Squad U.

The singer has had plenty of flak for what some have dubbed her highly manufactured, model-perfect pack of gal pals, which included fellow singer Selena Gomez, actress Lena Dunham and half of the Victoria’s Secret Angels.

She writhes next to a pile of these figures, perhaps a nod to the idea that she surrounds herself with “fake” friends.

Notably absent are the names of the former BFFs, including singer Lorde, who compared her friendship with Taylor to having “autoimmune disease”.

Taylor Swift’s New Single Broke a Spotify Streaming Record

Spotify says that Taylor Swift’s new single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” was streamed more in a single day than any other song on the platform. The song, the first from Swift’s upcoming album “Reputation,” was played 8 million times worldwide in its first day.

Swift’s success on Spotify is a bit ironic; the pop wunderkind made waves back in late 2014 when she accused streaming services of underpaying musicians. She didn’t return to Spotify until June of this year.

Get Data Sheet, Fortune’s technology newsletter.

Swift’s songs generated 47.5 million streams and an estimated $ 397,000 in the weeks after her return to streaming, which would make her new single’s 8 million Spotify spins worth about $ 67,000.

YouTube has said that the song also broke records there, generating 19 million views in one day, and Billboard says the song is likely to sell 500,000 downloads in its first week, making it the best-selling single since Adele’s “Look” in 2015.

Dear Taylor Swift: No one can make you do anything! Signed, a mom

by

Melissa Willets

posted in Parenting

I was driving my three little girls to a doctor’s appointment when we heard it: the highly-anticipated first track from Taylor Swift’s new album, “Reputation.” As the single, “Look What You Made Me Do” began pumping through our car’s speaker system, my daughters giggled and screamed with glee. Their idol was back, at last, with brand new music. I’ll admit I was also excited to listen. I mean, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em, right?

But a few seconds after delighting over hearing one of our favorite singer’s voices in a song I’m not completely sick of (please never play “Blank Space” in my presence again), I felt my heart sink.

The tone of “Look What You Made Me Do” was clearly angry, dark, and very un-Taylor Swift like. “Shake It Off” this was not! “No, I don’t like you,” Taylor repeated grimly, twice in the first verse. And then, a mention of a gun. Um, what?

But it was about to get worse.

Taylor Swift's new song sends a bad message to kids

“I’ve got a list of names and yours is in red, underlined,” Taylor chanted next, chillingly. And then, the chorus, “Look what you made me do.” Over and over again.

I don’t know why, but looking back at my young, impressionable girls in the back seats of the car, I couldn’t help but think about how these lines could potentially justify acts of school violence and bullying. And as I heard the formerly squeaky-clean star’s almost creepy song unfold, I became more and more bothered that Taylor was glorifying vendettas, and blaming others for her own actions.

As a woman who has recently gone through a period of intense suffering following pregnancy loss, I feel bad for Taylor that she is going through so much pain. Allegedly, Kim and Kayne West, whom she feuded with previously, are the inspiration for the lyrics. It’s truly sad if this attention-starved duo inspired lyrics like, “I don’t trust nobody and nobody trusts me.”

By far the low point of the song, and the part that actually upset my little girls is when she says, “I’m sorry, the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, ’cause she’s dead!”

Lovely, right?

So, as a mom, I am mad at Taylor for putting out such an unsettling anthem for kids to listen to over and over again. The good news? The truly dismal  “Look What You Made Me Do” sparked a conversation between me and my daughters. My 9-year-old asked what the song was even about if “no one can make you do anything.”

Exactly. Even in a seemingly-impossible situation, there are always choices about how to react. I now know this to be true, and I hope I’ve demonstrated it to my girls. I want them to learn that you can find the positive at the darkest of times. You can chose love and hope, instead of hating the world and everyone in it. You can take responsibility for your own happiness instead of condemning others. Sure, it’s a process to get to that place, but it is possible.

So Miss Taylor Swift, I can’t help but say how disappointed I am in you for putting out such a negative vibe when our kids, your fans, need something more, something better. All you made me do, Taylor, is change the station.

What is your take on Taylor’s new song?

Jury Sides With Taylor Swift in Groping Lawsuit Against Fired Radio Host

Taylor Swift has won long-awaited vindication after a jury decided that a radio host groped her during a pre-concert photo op four years ago.

After a weeklong trial over dueling lawsuits, jurors determined Monday that fired Denver DJ David Mueller assaulted the pop star by grabbing her backside during a backstage meet-and-greet.

The six-woman, two-man jury also found that Swift’s mother and radio liaison were within their rights to contact Mueller’s bosses.

Mueller sued the Swifts and their radio handler, Frank Bell, seeking up to $ 3 million for his ruined career.

Just before closing arguments, the judge dismissed Taylor Swift from Mueller’s lawsuit and drastically reduced the amount Mueller could collect.

The singer-songwriter said in her countersuit that she wanted a symbolic $ 1 and the chance to stand up for other women.

Swift Victory! Jury Rules Former Radio Host Assaulted Taylor Swift During Meet and Greet, Awards Singer $1

After six days in court, a verdict has been reached in the Taylor Swift groping trial. After deliberating for several hours, a jury in a Denver courtroom ruled that former radio host David Mueller assaulted and battered Swift at a meet-and-greet photo session at the Pepsi Center in June 2013.

Swift is being awarded $ 1. Her mother Andrea and a member of her management team, Frank Bell, did not intentionally interfere with Mueller’s KYGO contract, the jury ruled.

After the verdict was read, Swift hugged her attorneys and her teary-eyed mother before mouthing the words “thank you” to the jury. Mueller and his team remained expressionless.

“I want to thank Judge William J. Martinez and the jury for their careful consideration, my attorneys Doug Baldridge, Danielle Foley, Jay Schaudies and Katie Wright for fighting for me and anyone who feels silenced by a sexual assault, and especially anyone who offered their support throughout this four-year ordeal and two-year long trial process,” Swift said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

“I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”

The verdict came after an emotional day for Swift, who watched as Mueller’s lawyer, Gabe McFarland, argued before an eight-person jury that her allegations of assault destroyed his client’s career. When McFarland claimed that Mueller “is not the guy” who grabbed Swift’s backside, the 27-year-old star shook her head and mouthed the word, “Wow.”

She became even more emotional when McFarland turned his attention to the photo taken during the alleged incident, which has become something of a smoking gun in this case.

“Is that the face of someone who’s had someone grab their butt? Who is shocked?” he asked the jury. “There’s nothing in Taylor Swift’s face to suggest anything is wrong.” Meanwhile, Swift herself turned away from the public gallery towards her mother and dabbed tears from her eyes.

Swift regained her composure and leaned back in her chair as she listened to her attorney, Douglas Baldridge, deliver his statement, recalling Swift’s Aug. 10 testimony during which she said: “I am not going to allow you or your client to make me feel like this is my fault, because it isn’t.”

“To use Andrea Swift’s words, I don’t know whether to ‘vomit or cry’ when I see a member of the bar subscribe to that re-victimization,” continued Baldridge.

Swift’s lawyer also called Mueller’s case a “game of chicken” where “victims are prone to blink rather than relive the shame and humiliation of what took place.” He also noted the token $ 1 Swift is seeking in damages, “the single value of which is immeasurable to all women in this situation.”

“It means no means no, and it tells every woman that they will determine what is tolerable to their body,” he added.

It was a trial filled with passionate rhetoric, often by Swift herself. The 27-year-old took the stand on Thursday, testifying for about an hour against Mueller.

“It was a definite grab, very long grab,” Swift said in court. “It was long enough for me to be completely sure it was intentional.”

Afterwards, “a light switched off in my personality,” Swift said, and added that she “just looked at the floor. I couldn’t look at either of them , and I just said in monotone, ‘Thanks for coming.’”

When Swift was asked about how she reacted upon learning about Mueller’s termination, she said, “I didn’t have a reaction to a strange person I didn’t know losing his job…that was a product of his decisions, not mine.”

She continued: “I don’t know anything about Mr. Mueller. I don’t know him. I think what he did was despicable, horrifying, shocking, but I don’t know him at all.”

Swift’s mother Andrea also provided powerful testimony when she took the stand Wednesday, detailing how she “wanted to vomit and cry” after her daughter told her about the alleged groping.

“I knew there was something horribly wrong in that picture,” Andrea said of the photo with Mueller. “I know those eyes better than anybody. She was pulling away. She has that smile frozen on her face, but there’s something going on in her eyes. I just looked at it and I was sickened.”

Swift, was “really shaken, she was humiliated, she was horribly embarrassed because he grabbed her bare ass,” Andrea testified.

During opening statements last Tuesday, Baldridge told the jury panel that the singer is “taking a stand for all women” and that “this is a case of sexual assault in the workplace.”

“A woman is assaulted. She reports it and she gets sued … it doesn’t make sense,” added Swift’s lawyer. “She’s trying to tell people out there that you can say no when someone grabs you no matter who they are.”

The trial took place over the course of six days, but that was just the final battle in a legal war that stretches back over two years. Mueller first sued Swift in 2015, claiming he lost his job after the singer’s security team accused him of groping her butt during a meet-and-greet at the Pepsi Center in June of 2013.

Mueller denied the allegations and also accused his colleague of sexually assaulting the singer, but a rep for Swift told PEOPLE at the time that “the radio station was given evidence immediately after the incident” and “made their independent decision.”

One month later, the “Out of the Woods” singer countersued Mueller, saying in court papers he “intentionally reached under her skirt, and groped with his hand an intimate part of her body in an inappropriate manner, against her will, and without her permission.”

Swift scored an early victory on Friday, when Judge William J. Martinez dismissed Mueller’s case that the pop star got him fired, citing insufficient evidence. However, his case against Swift’s mother, Andrea, was not dismissed and Swift’s case against Mueller for sexual assault remains ongoing.

In his ruling, the judge said Mueller had filed claims of interference with contract against Swift personally rather than 13 Management, the company under which Andrea Swift and Frank Bell — who works with her management team — are employed. “Simply put, it is far too late for the plaintiff to argue that he had filed the wrong claims against the wrong people,” he said.

Judge Throws Out Former DJ’s Lawsuit Against Taylor Swift in Groping Trial

(DENVER) — A judge on Friday threw out a former radio host’s case against Taylor Swift in a trial that delved into their dueling lawsuits over whether he groped her during a backstage meet-and-greet and whether she and her team ruined his career.

U.S. District Judge William Martinez determined that the pop star could not be held liable because David Mueller failed to prove that she personally set out to have him fired after the 2013 photo op in Denver. His identical allegations against Swift’s mother and her radio liaison will go to jurors for a verdict.

Mueller denies groping Swift and sued the singer, her mother, Andrea Swift, and their radio handler, Frank Bell, seeking up to $ 3 million as compensation for his ruined career.

The singer-songwriter said in her countersuit that she wanted a symbolic $ 1 and the chance to stand up for other women. The jury will still consider her claim.

Swift teared up as the judge read his decision and said there was no evidence of her actions being insincere. Afterward, her team smiled and embraced. Mueller’s side didn’t speak.

“I couldn’t be more proud to represent somebody like Taylor Swift who’s willing to step up in a situation like this,” attorney Douglas Baldridge said outside court.

The judge’s decision came after days of testimony from the singer and others and just before jurors were set to hear closing arguments.

Swift spent an hour on the witness stand Thursday defiantly recounting what she called a “despicable and horrifying and shocking” encounter before a concert.

“He stayed attached to my bare ass-cheek as I lurched away from him,” Swift testified.

“It was a definite grab. A very long grab,” she added in her testimony.

Swift’s testy exchange with Mueller’s attorney occasionally elicited chuckles — even from the six-woman, two-man jury. She got a laugh when she said her security guard saw Mueller “lift my skirt” but someone would have had to have been underneath her to see the actual groping — “and we didn’t have anyone positioned there.”

Swift testified that after the photo was taken, she tried to get as far away Mueller as she could. She said she told him and his girlfriend, who was also in the photo, “thank you for coming” in a monotone voice before they left.

She also said she was stunned and did not say anything to Mueller or halt the event after he left because she did not want to disappoint several dozen people waiting in line for photos with her.

In the image, shown to jurors during opening statements but not publicly released, Mueller’s hand is behind Swift, just below her waist. Mueller’s then-girlfriend, Shannon Melcher, is on the other side of Swift. All three are smiling.

Melcher testified Friday that she saw nothing happen during the brief encounter and that she and Mueller were rudely confronted and escorted out of the arena that evening. Melcher said Mueller was devastated by the accusation.

She said she and Mueller started out as co-workers at country station KYGO-FM and became romantically involved in February 2013, a few months before the concert. They drifted apart late in 2013, but Melcher says they remained friends.

Taylor Swift will likely take the stand in a case against a DJ who allegedly groped her

It looks like after approximately two years of litigation, Taylor Swift will finally be taking the stand. The singer-songwriter will likely testify against radio DJ David Mueller, the man accused of groping Swift at a meet-and-greet event in 2013, during civil court proceedings scheduled to begin next week.

Back in 2013, Swift accused Mueller, co-host of KYGO’s Reno and Jackson radio show, of reaching under her skirt and grabbing her bare butt during a backstage photo op at a Swift concert in Denver, Colorado. Immediately following the incident, Swift notified her tour manager and security team, who then tracked down Mueller, removed him and his girlfriend (who was present at the time of the encounter) from the event, and banned him from Swift shows for life.

When Mueller’s employers at KYGO caught wind of the altercation, they promptly fired Mueller, citing the morality clause in his contract after it was revealed he was less-than-truthful about the details of the incident. Out of a job, Mueller claimed he was falsely accused and now seeks $ 3 million in damages.

But T-Swift is not backing down. Just 23 at the time of the assault, the superstar said she was “shocked and distressed by Mueller’s harmful and offensive physical conduct” in court documents. Hoping the case serves as “an example to other women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating acts,” Swift has vowed to donate any monies awarded to her by the court to non-profit organizations “dedicated to protecting women from similar acts of sexual assault and personal disregard.”

This isn’t the first time Swift has spoken out against perpetrators of sexual assault. Last year, Swift gifted pop star Kesha with $ 250,000 in a show of support of the singer in the wake of an unsuccessful lawsuit against her record producer and alleged sexual assailant, Dr. Luke.

We’ve always got your back, Taylor!

ENTERTAINMENT UPDATE:

Taylor Swift Gets Pre-Trial Victory in Her Legal Battle with DJ Who Allegedly Groped Her

Taylor Swift and her legal team scored a small victory in their legal battle with David Mueller, a former Denver radio host who allegedly groped the singer during a 2013 meet-and-greet.

On Wednesday, a federal judge sanctioned Mueller for destroying multiple electronic devices containing key evidence in the case, according to the Denver Post.

Mueller sued Swift in September 2015 claiming the pop star cost him his job after the Grammy winner claimed he groped her during a meet-and-greet session. In court documents, Mueller admitted Swift had been groped but blamed his “superior” at KYGO, Eddie Haskell.

U.S. District Judge William Martinez has allowed Swift’s attorneys to question Mueller about a two-hour audio recording he taped during an interview with his boss Robert Call, the day before he was fired. In the latest court papers obtained by The Post, Mueller admitted to destroying or losing four electronic devices, including a cellular phone, laptop, iPad and computer.

Mueller gave multiple reasons behind his actions, specifically that he spilled coffee on his laptop’s keyboard. “It was fried,” Mueller said.

Martinez believes the recording is critical evidence due to Call’s claims that Mueller changed his story when he confronted him about Swift’s claim that he assaulted her. Call said that was one of the factors in his decision to fire Mueller in June 2013.

According to court documents from Swift’s October 2015 countersuit previously obtained by PEOPLE, Mueller and his girlfriend were participating in a meet-and-greet in 2013 with Swift when he “intentionally reached under her skirt, and groped with his hand an intimate part of her body in an inappropriate manner, against her will, and without her permission.”

After the alleged incident, Swift was “surprised, upset, offended, and alarmed” and informed her photographer, tour manager, and security team, according to the papers.

A trial date has been set for early August.
