‘Jessica Jones’ Trailer Breakdown: An Origin Story and a New Lover?!

Jessica Jones returns to Netflix March 8, and it’s been a long time coming. After the ups and downs of the various Defenders shows, we’re excited the spotlight’s back on the heavy-drinking, hard-hitting, smart-talking “not a hero.”

We got the FANDOM crew together to break down the biggest moments, and biggest questions from the trailer. We’re also generally just getting hyped for one of the best characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Wanna follow along? We’ve got the transcript right here for ya.

0:00 – 0:10
Here we see Jessica in some form of group therapy. As she throws the ball against the wall, she begins to share what memories she has of her own origin story. This is a clear sign that Season 2 will explore the yet unknown source of her powers and potentially reveal who experimented on her.

:10
The trailer then cuts to the death of her parents in a car accident, which was explored briefly in the first season.

:10 – :21
Jessica then recounts the events that she remembers: her experimentation, her abduction, and the abuse she suffered at the hands of Kilgrave. As far as we know, Kilgrave did not give Jessica her powers, he only used them once he discovered how strong she was. Is the show teasing something more here?

:30
When Malcolm asks Jessica how Anger Management class was, Jessica has the perfect retort: “Still angry.” This shows us that while she’s willing to get help for anger management, she knows she needs something more than just group therapy. Her trusty whiskey bottle makes an appearance here as well — definitely a staple from Season 1. You could even call whiskey Jessica’s most faithful sidekick — don’t tell Daredevil.

:30 – 1:00
Here we see Jessica’s life as a PI and as a hero, though don’t call her hero to her face.

1:00 – 1:17
During Season 1, Jessica did not want to become a superhero. Now it seems as though she’s reconsidering her position. Is that because of the time she recently spent with the Defenders?

1:32
In this scene, we can clearly see Jessica defending a young Trish Walker, possibly from an attacker. This reemphasizes the importance of Jessica and Trish’s relationship and how often they have saved each other.

1:38
Here we can see Jessica kissing a mystery man — definitely not her lover from Season 1, Luke Cage. The mystery man could be actor J.R. Ramirez, who is playing a character this season named Oscar.

1:54
There’s a quick shot of Will Simpson here, who is back for Season 2 — as well a variety of scenes showing Jessica kicking ass. Will she rise up to be a hero this season, will she discovery who made her into one? We’ll find out on March 8th, when Jessica Jones Season 2 hits Netflix globally.

Trailer for ‘Silicon Valley’ Season 5 drops, minus TJ Miller of course

TwitterFacebook

What’s life going to be like for the Silicon Valley gang, sans Erlich Bachman?

Following last season’s departure of TJ Miller, who plays Bachman, fans have likely wondered what Season 5 will look like — especially without that priceless tension between him and Jian Yang.

HBO dropped a trailer for the upcoming season on Tuesday, and well, it’d certainly appear the rivalries are staying the same. Pied Piper is still butting heads with Hooli, and its founder Richard Hendricks, played by Thomas Middleditch, is still trying to prove himself as a competent leader.

Same old, maybe, but we shall see. Season 5 of Silicon Valley debuts on Mar. 25. Read more…

‘Deadpool 2’ Trailer Breakdown: All the Things You Might Have Missed

Deadpool 2 dropped its first full-length trailer and there is a lot going on. We took our time and combed through the footage to see what exactly stood out, and we think this sequel has got quite a few surprises in store.

Who Are the Villains?

deadpool 2 dmc
Who are the DMC?

We see some soldiers with the letters “DMC” printed on their various pieces of armor. It’s a little funny since this first trailer is called “Deadpool, Meet Cable” and those end up giving us the same initials. Could the DMC be an actual entity or are they just a stand-in for the real evil organization?

There are also a few shots of what seems to be an anti-mutant cult of sorts. Maybe this group is rounding up mutants and imprisoning them? It looks like Deadpool will either get sent to this prison or will have to infiltrate it for some as-yet-unknown purpose.

Deadpool’s Team

deadpool 2 team six pack
Is this the Six Pack?

We know that an X-Force movie is on the way, but do we get a sneak peek at some of those potential members in this trailer for Deadpool 2? There’s a sequence where we see some heroes suiting up for battle and there are a few shots that offer some hints.

That odd-looking double-bladed sword that gets sheathed? Could that be Shatterstar? He’s a character that was also created by Deadpool’s creator, Rob Liefeld. There’s also someone standing behind Domino in that helicopter shot. Is it possibly Solo, another mercenary character from the Marvel universe? And what about Terry Crews? This is the first we’ve seen of him. Is he playing Hammer or George Washington Bridge? If so, it looks like the Six Pack, a team of mercenaries from Marvel comics, might be Deadpool’s superhero team in the sequel.

Premium Cable

deadpool 2 cable
What powers does Cable have?

Obviously, this trailer takes a lot of time to focus on Cable, Deadpool’s consistent partner in a number of Marvel comic books. We get a few glimpses of the dystopian future that Cable comes from. Could this be the same future we saw in X-Men: Days of Future Past?

There is also a shot of Cable utilizing some kind of forcefield against those DMC guards. Is this some piece of future technology he uses? Or does he have some variant of telekinetic abilities like his mother, Jean Grey? Yup, Cable comes from a future where he is the son of Jean Grey and Scott Summers a.k.a. Cyclops. So, it’ll be interesting to see what mutant abilities he might showcase.

There are plenty other Easter eggs and story hints in the trailer, so make sure to check out our breakdown video above to get all the juicy details!

Deadpool 2 will hit theaters on May 18.

Just as rave reactions are coming out of the premiere of Black Panther, another upcoming Marvel movie has just debuted its first trailer. Ant-Man and the Wasp is the follow-up to 2015's Ant-Man (with some residue from the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, as well) and promotes Evangeline Lily's character to full superhero status, herself.

‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ Trailer: The Villain Revealed and More

Black Panther is due in theaters in two weeks, Avengers: Infinity War is due in just three months, and Marvel’s third film due this year, Ant-Man and The Wasp, is just beginning to gear up. The ant-sized film made a big splash today by uploading its first teaser trailer.

The trailer featured the film’s returning cast Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Michael Peña, as well as some newer actors the Marvel universe, like The Matrix legend, Laurence Fishburne. The trailer featured a flashback to Captain America: Civil War, some epic car chase scenes, and a look at Hope’s new superhero identity: the Wasp. Let’s break down some of the trailers coolest moments.

The Wasp Suits Up

Ant Man and The Wasp

Hope van Dyne made her first appearance in Ant-Man, as Hank Pym’s daughter. While she was fully capable of wearing the Ant-Man suit and controlling the ants, her father wanted to keep her safe, thus he hired Scott Lang to wear it. At the end of the film, Hank presented Hope with her very own suit to which Hope appropriately said, “It’s about damn time.”

In this trailer, Hope is completely suited up. She has wings, she has blasters, she has the suit every girl dreams of. Scott is dreaming of her suit too, because it’s superior to his in design. The trailer opens up with Scott asking Hope a very specific question: “When Cap needed help, if I had asked you, would you have come?” This question clearly shows that the film is not going to shy away from Hope’s absence in Captain America: Civil War.

Giant Man Returns

Ant Man and The Wasp

As the trailer continues, it reveals that Scott is in trouble, again. He’s under FBI house arrest, which puts the Pyms in danger. Hank shrinks his old office down and they all go on the run. They don’t go too far though, as San Francisco can be seen in the background of this shot of Giant Man. Something will cause Scott and Hope to suit up, something that requires the return of Giant Man.

Giant Man — Scott’s Ant-Man suit when it’s been super-sized — made it’s first Marvel Cinematic debut in Captain America: Civil War, during the epic airport battle. Scott super-sized himself to help Cap and Bucky escape Tony Stark and the Avengers at the Berlin Airport. Spider-Man had fun taking him down by re-enacting the scene from Empire Strikes Back. It would appear that the skills and size of Giant Man will be needed in this film as well.

The Villain Materializes

Ant Man and The Wasp

The trailer also features unique looks at the film’s villain, Ghost. In the comics, Ghost was a super hacker, hired by the Roxxon Corporation to sabotage Tony Stark. The comic book version of Ghost could also dematerialize, become invisible and interface with all kinds of technology.

In the trailer, Ghost’s hand comes in and out of focus. When we see Ghost again, she’s fully suited up, as you can see in the image above. The film’s Ghost is played by actress Hannah John-Kamen, who can also be seen this year in Tomb Raider and Ready Player One. There’s also a shot in the trailer of Laurence Fishburn’s character Bill Foster in Ghost’s chambers. Perhaps he helps create Ghost’s phasing ability?

The Quantum Realm Returns

Ant Man and The Wasp

The trailer also features a curious looking ship. The ship, which can be seen above, is likely a rescue pod for the quantum realm. That only means one thing: Hank, Hope and Scott are going to try to save Hope’s mom, Janet van Dyne! We already know that Michelle Pfeiffer is playing Janet and now we’re sure she’s going to be rescued!

Oh, and if you thought you recognized the song in the trailer, you did! As one Twitter user pointed out, the song is “Ant’s Invasion” by Adam and the Ants.

Ant-Man and The Wasp hits theaters on July 6, 2018.

New ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special Trailer Showcases Doctor Rivalry

As the Doctor Who Christmas special episode draws ever closer, a new trailer has dropped to get us all in a tizzy. As if we weren’t already somewhere close to fever pitch. And it brings us some hitherto undiscovered revelations — most prominently that there’s some friction between the First and Twelfth Doctors, who both feature in the episode.

We see Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor introduce himself as the Doctor. As he does so, David Bradley’s First Doctor responds: “You may be a Doctor but I am the Doctor.”

Capaldi’s Doctor then goes on to explain to Bradley’s that he is his future self. Bradley’s Doctor looks at him quizzically, and asks, “Sunglasses?”

“They’re sonic,” explains Capaldi.

“Indoors?” comes Bradley’s cutting follow-up.

We also witness Capaldi saying, “I will stop you. I will stop all of you,” before our first look at an enchanted glass figure teased in the recently released synopsis.

There’s also a better look at the much-anticipated regeneration sequence.

Called “Twice Upon A Time”, the episode is one-hour long — 15 minutes longer than a standard episode. In the episode, we will see Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor bow out as he regenerates into Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor — the first female Doctor in the show’s history. The episode also marks the departure of outgoing showrunner Steven Moffat. Chris Chibnall steps into the role for the next season, due to premiere in Autumn of 2018.

The-Doctor-New-Costume
Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor will make her debut in the Doctor Who Christmas special.

What’s It About?

Here’s the official synopsis for the episode:

The magical final chapter of the Twelfth Doctor’s (Peter Capaldi) journey sees the Time Lord team up with his former self, the first ever Doctor (David Bradley — Harry Potter, Game of Thrones) and a returning Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie), for one last adventure.

Two Doctors stranded in an Arctic snowscape, refusing to face regeneration. Enchanted    glass people, stealing their victims from frozen time. And a World War One captain destined to die on the battlefield, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor’s story.

An uplifting new tale about the power of hope in humanity’s darkest hours, “Twice Upon A Time” marks the end of an era. But as the Doctor must face his past to decide his future, his journey is only just beginning…

“Twice Upon A Time” is written by Steven Moffat, directed by Rachel Talalay, and executive produced by Brian Minchin. The 60-minute special guest stars Mark Gatiss as The Captain and Nikki Amuka-Bird as the voice of the glass woman, and will see Peter Capaldi’s Doctor regenerate into the Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker).

“Twice Upon A Time” premieres on BBC1 at 5.30pm on December 25 and will air on BBC America a few hours later.
