Tekashi 69’s Former Agency Accuses Him Of Lying About Being Robbed

Yesterday, Tekashi 69 stopped by The Breakfast Club and he claimed that the reason for which he fired his team was that they were robbing him. It was recently reported that Tekashi fired everyone and canceled his shows.

In a video in which he appears to be extremely stressed out, Tekashi speaks in front of the camera and revealed that his American tour had been canceled.

Tekashi was supposed to perform in Austin, Texas yesterday but he noted that he would not be present at the show.

At The Breakfast Club, he claimed that he only received about $ 300,000 of an alleged $ 3.5 million deal and everyone who watched the interview was definitely shocked to hear such a thing.

He also said that members of his booking company who were handling the deal, MTA, also reached the point in which they threatened the life of his mom.

According to TMZ, MTA is denying Tekashi’s claims.

An MTA rep said that there wasn’t such a deal in the first place and they also reported that MTA along with Tr3way Entertainment was handling his travel, security, and transport.

Hot New Hip Hop reported that MTA told TMZ that they booked nine upcoming shows in the US and two more in Mexico for him. They said that Tekashi received $ 700,000 for the shows.

There were also five more shows in Germany for which the rapper received $ 160,000. It seems that MTA is reportedly considering taking legal action against Tekashi for what he accused them of.

Bebe Winans Dishes About His New Jim Bakker And Tammy Faye-Inspired Musical ‘Born For This’

Cindy Adams of Page Six chopped it up with four-time Grammy winner BeBe Winans about his coming musical “Born for This.”

“Another jukebox Broadway thing?” she asked him.

“No, ma’am. I lived in New York 10 years and saw every musical ever made. I was Harpo in ‘The Color Purple,’ and a Broadway school taught me to write,” he explained. “I’ve written what’s important. I added new songs. I talk about my family. And Roberta Flack said I had to put this on Broadway.

“Mine’s a story of rejection. Of faith. Survival. God’s love. Of becoming involved with Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker.”

Jim and Tammy Faye were a husband-and-wife televangelist team in the 1970s and ’80s before their ministry was brought down by scandal and bankruptcy.  BeBe was part of that ministry.

“To audition for them in Charlotte, NC, my mother took me and my sister south on a Greyhound bus. They wanted my sister, not me. I ended up working in a grocery. But then Bakker heard me sing — and that was my beginning.

“Understand, fame — and fear and failure — are like drugs. You need faith to handle celebrity or success. All of it’s a struggle. You conquer that with the only true power there really is — trust in God.

“Bakker became my parent. He said I’d be a somebody. The man’s alive and kicking, and in 2016 when I tested this in Atlanta, he was at the opening. When I got my star on the Walk of Fame, he was the first person who called. And Jim Bakker will be at the official Broadway opening of this show.”

Danielle Harris Opens Up About Her ‘Near Death’ Experience During Delivery of Son Jagger

Almost a month after welcoming her baby boy, Danielle Harris is opening up about her difficult delivery.

Before sharing the story of her “traumatic” experience, the Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead star and famed scream queen, 41, wrote a sweet tribute to her 4-week-old son Jagger Maxwell — her second child with husband David Gross.

“Introducing … Jagger Maxwell Gross Born 10/8/2018 !!!!” she wrote on Instagram over the weekend, alongside the first photo the actress has shared of her bundle of joy.

“Mommy and Daddy are so lucky to be able to add you to our family. We are a fierce 4some now and can’t wait to watch you grow and live this life as our baby boy and little brother to the BEST big brother a boy could ask for!!” she continued, referring to the couple’s older son Carter Davis, 20 months.

Explaining why it took her so long to share her harrowing story — or even post a photo of her child — the mother of two wrote that she just needed a little time to herself.

“Giving birth is the most dangerous thing a woman can do in her lifetime … after my traumatic birth experience this time around, it took me a while to share a photo with the world,” Harris wrote. “Time was really needed to clear my head and bond with my baby just he and I in our own private little bubble.”

During the delivery, Harris had a “horrible eclampsia seizure on the operating table” and “blacked out,” missing the birth of her son.

“I saw moments of my life flashing before me in fast forward and I missed the birth of my baby,” she wrote. “Needless to say that was the closest to a near death experience as I’d ever come in real life.”

The Halloween franchise actress went on to share that she’s “forever grateful and blessed” to have made it out of the delivery room alive.

“Dying during childbirth was definitely not on my list of ways I thought I would leave this world and I’m glad to cross that possibility off my list,” she wrote.

“Life is short. You never know when your number is gonna be up, so take time to enjoy what matters most,” Harris advised her followers. “Love one another and love yourself because the world wouldn’t be the same without you … ”

Fox added that Harris and Gross “are grateful that modern science gives them the family they have always yearned for. Now they finally feel complete!”

Here Is What The Critics Are Saying About The PlayStation Classic So Far

Sony PlayStation Classic reviews

Source: Sony / PlayStation

When Sony first announced it was joining in on the retro console fun with the PlayStation Classic everyone was excited at the news. Critics were able to preview the mini PS One, and they were not too impressed.

Back in October Sony revealed the complete list of titles that would be featured on the miniature version of the first PlayStation console. It didn’t blow many away leaving much to be desired and now with hands-on reviews rolling in it’s looking like the PlayStation Classic is an enjoyable but incomplete nostalgic experience for fans of the PlayStation system.

Chris Kohler of Kotaku:

“Bare-bones” is probably the most accurate summation I can give of the PlayStation Classic so far. There are no special screen borders or graphic display options. There’s a QR code that will load up manuals on the PlayStation website, but it wasn’t functional during the preview event. There’s a screensaver option that will dim the screen after a few minutes. Even the game selection menu itself is strictly utilitarian; there’s no nostalgic theme song or other cute additions.”

Jonathon Dornbush of IGN:

“I undoubtedly had my fun with a few entries, and could certainly see myself being sucked back into more of Midgar or Snake’s exploits. The list isn’t packed with heavy hitters, though, and knowing what defined the console but didn’t end up being included, along with the lack of nostalgic bells and whistles, can make even those great aspects of the PlayStation Classic feel like part of an incomplete whole.”

Nick Pino of Tech Radar:

“Because it doesn’t rely on the best-remembered games from the ’90s, the PlayStation Classic isn’t quite everything we hoped it’d be. That said, what we feel it lacks in software is made up, in part, by its lovingly crafted hardware.”

There was one positive preview/review from The Verge that did have a few complaints as far as the console’s use or wired controllers and questionable choices for its game lineup. Here is what Nick Statt had to say about the PlayStation Classic:

“Now, if you’re a hardcore fan who remembers those games like you played them yesterday, you’ll probably be fine. But it’s worth noting that this era, while a golden one for a certain type of game fan, is not going to be quite as accessible as the SNES generation of hits. The Verge will have a more comprehensive evaluation of the PS Classic’s lineup later this month when we get our hands on a proper review unit and spend some more time with the device’s library.

All that said, the PS Classic is a faithful and well-made little device, and it’s easy to see how popular it will be among former PS1 owners.”

While those reviews are not very encouraging, we still expect to PS Classic to sell like hotcakes when it arrives December 3rd cause for $ 99 you still are getting a decent retro console. Will these reviews affect your decision to purchase one? Let us know below.

The True Story Behind Outlaw King: What to Know About Scottish Independence Hero Robert the Bruce

Warning: Contains spoilers for the movie Outlaw King

Increasing anxiety about the U.K.’s preparations for leaving the European Union has some Scots talking about how, in a world of Brexit, they might be able to actually pull off independence.

And whenever talk of Scottish independence ramps up — not infrequently; a referendum on the topic failed in 2014 — people look for lessons in the story of the legendary king who led Scotland to independence in the 14th century: Robert I, also known as Robert the Bruce (Bruce being his family name). So it’s perhaps fitting that, amid the ongoing political turmoil, a dramatization of his story is in theaters and becomes available for streaming on Netflix on Friday. Outlaw King stars Chris Pine (and, yes, all of Chris Pine) and is based on a pivotal period in Scottish history.

The film begins with the English siege of the Scots’ Stirling Castle in 1304, as a Warwolf — a huge medieval trebuchet — lobs boulders at the stronghold, in a motion similar to “an overarm pitch,” explains one of the film’s historical advisors Tony Pollard, Professor of Conflict History & Archaeology at the University of Glasgow (who also served as historical advisor to the TV series Outlander). At that time, most of Scotland’s castles were already occupied by English garrisons, and the King of England, Edward I, was flexing his power as overlord of Scotland and demanding the Scottish elites give him their fealty.

A succession crisis in Scotland had empowered Edward I. There were no heirs to the Scottish throne left after the death of the King of Scots Alexander III in 1286, so the Scottish nobility put together a committee of guardians to keep the government running. After the death of the Queen of Scots Margaret, Maid of Norway, in 1290, the guardians asked Edward I to come serve as an independent arbitrator to evaluate claims to the Scottish throne. As a result, John Balliol became King of Scotland in 1292.

But his reign didn’t last long. After Balliol sought an alliance with France, England’s enemy back then, Edward I himself came back to invade Scotland and drive out Balliol in 1296.

Now the independent kingdom of Scotland was facing direct rule by the English crown. Hard up for cash after the invasion, having “stretched his resources to a breaking point,” Edward I tried to shake down the Scots — including seizing their wool, the country’s main export at the time, according to Dauvit Broun, a professor of Scottish History at the University of Glasgow, who wasn’t involved in the film.

That’s when Robert the Bruce decided that enough was enough. He declared himself King of Scotland.

But in order to rule, Robert had to eliminate the competition. Scottish nobles who backed Balliol had been keeping a government going in his name. To be king, Robert the Bruce would have to get rid of anyone who challenged his own claim to the crown. So in February of 1306 at the church of Greyfriars in Dumfries, Robert the Bruce met with John “The Red” Comyn, one of the most powerful nobles in Scotland, who had been spearheading the effort to establish a Balliol kingship. Comyn didn’t walk away from the meeting alive.

There’s debate about whether Robert the Bruce killed Comyn himself or whether accomplices did, but he’s thought to have been in on it — and in the film, he’s depicted as murdering John “The Red” Comyn himself, which is what many people think happened. Robert the Bruce and his wife Elizabeth de Burgh were inaugurated King and Queen of Scots at Scone shortly after. Not a lot is known about de Burgh, and later in the year she was taken prisoner in England.

Get your history fix in one place: sign up for the weekly TIME History newsletter

But, though the murder of John Comyn secured his power in one way, it also made Robert the Bruce — who by then called himself King Robert I — a toxic figure in Scottish society. Soon enough, he was forced to flee.

“The most powerful nobles of Scotland treat him as a terrorist,” says Broun. “Not only is Robert I trying to establish an independent Scotland, but [also] he’s facing a civil war.”

In June of 1306, he struggled to keep up with the English army in the Battle of Methven, depicted in the film. “He’s basically an outlaw and the English are trying to bring him to book,” says Pollard. “[Robert the Bruce] comes close to being captured and beaten.”

His time as a fugitive is a mystery to historians.

“Nobody knows where he went when he was fugitive, but it looks like he thought hard about strategy,” says Broun. “He stayed out of a battle until he knew he’d have a better chance of winning, and that was controversial because kings were meant to be military heroes. He resolved that every castle he took he would destroy because he reckoned that, for the King of England to win, he would need to garrison Scotland, and you can’t do that unless you’ve got castles. It’s a bit like taking a bomb and destroying Buckingham Palace. But Robert I took the view that if he was going to win, it was only going to be because he had the support of the people, so he didn’t need castles.”

The film aims to depict Robert I’s military genius by highlighting the guerrilla tactics he used to overthrow the superior military force that was Edward I’s English army. One aspect of that involved creating what Pollard calls a “human porcupine” of sorts, with hundreds of men in one big group holding nearly 20-foot-long spears straight out in front of them.

The Scots also had a home turf advantage in terms of navigating the boggy, marshy battlegrounds. “Bruce deliberately picks land where the strength of the English Army can’t be brought into play,” says Pollard. “The English are knights in armor on horses, and Scots were men on foot, who didn’t have much in the way of cavalry.”

Robert’s first victory as king came in May of 1307 at the Battle of Loudoun Hill, close to his longtime family stronghold of Carrick (now part of Ayrshire).

“It’s significant because it means that he’s no longer just a fugitive,” says Broun. “But he’s still only someone who controls a small region of Scotland, his home region, which is not very different from being a noble — except he claims to be king.”

So the most famous and most important battle in Robert the Bruce’s career came even later, after the period of time covered by the film.

It was the Battle of Bannockburn, in June of 1314 that really paved the way for Scottish independence. Edward I had actually died shortly after the battle of Loudoun Hill, but at Bannockburn, Robert I defeated his successor Edward II.

“The Battle of Bannockburn is really the conclusion of the civil war,” says Broun,”[and] shows everyone who isn’t an inveterate opponent of Robert I that he’s in charge, that he can defeat the King of England. The few nobles who are still swithering say, ‘Okay, the reality is Robert I is in charge.’”

Elizabeth de Burgh is said to have been returned to Robert I after the battle as part of a prisoner exchange. Scotland’s independence from England would be official until the two nations signed the Treaty of Edinburgh in March of 1328. Robert I died the following year but Scotland would remain independent until James VI of Scotland inherited the kingdom of England after the death of Elizabeth I in 1603 and became James I of England. Oliver Cromwell conquered Scotland completely in 1650, and the Scottish and English parliaments merged in May of 1707.

And yet Robert the Bruce’s reputation as a national hero endured.

“He was reduced to being a fugitive and yet managed to restore Scotland as a fully-functioning independent kingdom. This makes his achievement even more remarkable,” Broun says. “He had to improvise constantly and had to work really hard to be king, as opposed to being born into it and not having to struggle for it.”

5 things you didn’t know about flying first class

Whether you’re a frequent flyer who regularly travels for business, or if you just fly once a year for your family vacation, you know that flying can be one of the most stressful and tiring experiences of your journey. When flying economy, you have little leg room, odd next door neighbors, super long queues and pretty basic commodities – Yep, the toilet will always smell! But there is another part of the plane that you barely ever see: First Class. Unless you’re really lucky, of course. Here’s what it’s like to fly in first class.

Many people use it to network

We’ve all seen the scenes in movies where the two unsuspecting victims meet next to each other on the plane, share a pleasant hello and then a cliche moment brings them together – cut to the ending and they’ve become BFF’s and set up a meeting in New York to go over a business proposal together next month. Okay, it doesn’t really work like that, but many people do use first class to network with other like-minded. Because the people who fly in First Class normally have more money and work for Fortune 500 companies, they’ll all have something in common – business. In fact, Virgin Atlantic have found that one in five of their First Class customers had done business with someone they had met during their first class flight. Some airlines are now even creating specific networking flights!

You get even more vacation time

If you’re used to flying economy, you’ve probably seen the First Class passengers stroll along past you with their fast-track boarding passes and saunter onto the airplane while you crouch on the floor in a crowded airport lounge. Yep, the first class passengers not only get to board the plane first – but they also get to depart the plane before everyone else too! This means they can get ahead of the game, and be the first in the queue for customs and baggage reclaim. Ultimately, this means they get even more vacation time because they’ll be out the airport doors and onto the beach while you’re still stuck on the plane!

It’s super comfortable

Okay, we all know the deal. Economy flights are in NO WAY comfortable. With little-to-no legroom, a next door neighbor who is sitting way too close to you and using your armrest, and absolutely no way to stretch out and have a good kip; a long-haul flight can be an absolute killer. But long-haul First Class flights? They’re a completely different story. In nearly every first class area of any airplane, the seats are a world apart. Quite literally. With individual seating, each passenger gets their own little area of the plane with a reclining chair (which makes an extremely comfortable bed), a sliding divider which shuts you off from the other passengers, and your own personal TV. The nine-hour flight will just be like your average evening at home.

You can actually get work done

If you’re traveling on a business trip and need to perfect your presentation before you reach your destination, it will be pretty impossible to do so if you sit in economy – because you two choices; have the ability to feel your legs and not get work done, or get work done and lose all circulation. The choice is yours. However, in first class, working is no issue. In fact, your plane journey will probably be more comfortable than your own office! In your First Class seat, you’ve got your own individual table with ample writing space, multiple power sockets to ensure your laptop never runs out of battery, and most now have WIFI! Who needs an office?

You don’t need to be rich to fly first class!

There’s a common misconception that you need to be super rich to afford seats in First Class. As much as it is true buying first class seats through the airline will cost you a hefty sum, there are ways to try and get a first class upgrade for a cheaper price (or even for free!). First and foremost, you need to go by the premise that ‘it doesn’t hurt to ask.’ You’ll be surprised how accommodating airlines can be when it comes to upgrading their passengers – if you just ask! The best way to do this is to always be polite and friendly to them when you go to the check-in desks, and if they have something available, they may bump you up. If you don’t ask, you don’t get!

Ever wondered what it’s like to fly first class? Here are a few pointers to whet your appetite, but why not try it out for yourself?

While also acknowledging that Saudi Arabia isn’t the only country WWE’s recently rented out its services to, as Australia’s Super Show-Down PPV was just a little over a month ago.

Homeowners associations (HOAs) exist to ensure visual uniformity and to protect the property rights of residents of a specific neighborhood. If you’re thinking of buying a home in a neighborhood governed by an HOA, keep reading to discover 10 things about these organizations that you may not know (but should).

Months Before Pittsburgh Shooting, Stripe and PayPal Were Warned About Gab

Photo Illustration by The Daily Beast

Months before they cut ties with the extremist-friendly social-media site Gab, tech companies were warned about incitement to violence on the website, according to emails reviewed by The Daily Beast.

The payment processors Stripe and PayPal stopped working with Gab on Saturday after it was revealed that a man who allegedly murdered 11 people at a Pittsburgh synagogue had been an active Gab user who authored violently anti-Semitic posts and shortly before the killing spree, appeared to announce his intentions to his Gab followers. But over the summer Stripe and PayPal received warnings about the site’s role in online hate.

The Twitter user @DeplatformHate has been documenting the far right’s partnerships with Silicon Valley for nearly a year and repeatedly tweeted about Stripe’s ties to Gab in August. After Stripe’s general counsel reached out on August 17, Deplatform Hate sent him and Stripe’s CEO a long email on August 24, documenting the issue.

Demi Moore Opens Up About Her Recovery: ‘I Was Spiraling Down a Path of Real Self-Destruction’

Demi Moore was named woman of the year at the Peggy Albrecht Friendly House’s 29th Annual Awards Luncheon on Saturday — and she took the opportunity to get candid about her own recovery.

Friendly House offers a “safe, structured and supportive home-like environment” for women recovering from substance use, according to its website. During her acceptance speech at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, the actress, 55, explained why the non-profit’s mission strikes a chord with her.

“I feel like there are defining moments in our lives that shape who we are and the direction we go, and early in my career, I was spiraling down a path of real self-destruction, and no matter what successes I had, I just never felt good enough,” explained Moore, who noted that she was “grateful” for her supportive daughters with ex Bruce Willis, Rumer, 30, Scout, 27, and Tallulah, 24.

“I had absolutely no value for myself,” Moore continued. “And this self-destructive path, it very quickly … brought me to a real crisis point. And it wasn’t clear at the time the reason — maybe it was divine intervention — but two people who I barely knew stepped up and took a stand for me, and they presented me with an opportunity.”

“In fact, it was more like an ultimatum … unless I was dead, that I better show up,” she said. “They gave me a chance to redirect the course of my life before I destroyed everything. Clearly, they saw more of me than I saw of myself. And I’m so grateful because without that opportunity, without their belief in me, I wouldn’t be standing here today.”

Moore went to rehab for drug and alcohol addiction in the mid-1980s. In January 2012, after months of partying and drastic weight loss, Moore collapsed into convulsions at her L.A. home and was hospitalized before going to rehab for addiction and an eating disorder, sources told PEOPLE at the time.

“I know in a moment of great struggle for me, I reached out to a wise teacher and expressed my fear that I wasn’t good enough,” Moore concluded her speech. “And she said, ‘You will never be good enough but you can know the value of your worth. Put down the measuring stick.’ So today, I put down the measuring stick and I thank you for this beautiful acknowledgment and the opportunity to know the value of my worth.”

“I think the root of what really fulfills us in life is being of service,” Moore shared with reporters at the event.

Soleil Moon Frye gushed about the “special, brilliant, beautiful, incredible, enlightening” Moore at the luncheon.

“She listens, and she shared so much wisdom, and she’s been in every one of my birthing rooms and helped deliver every one of my babies,” the former Punky Brewster actress told reporters. “She has always shown up for me, and I love her with all my heart.”

Every holiday season, you may find yourself wondering where to take a vacation, waffling between one location and another. You may be trying to look for some incredible tips or inspiration on where to go for your escape. But did you know you can push your wanderlust aside right from the comfort of your own couch? You can do this by watching these incredible documentaries about traveling that can transport you to foreign landscapes, epic views, and far off places while still providing some light hearted comedy. Here are the most incredible travel documentaries to inspire your traveling.

#5: Frozen Planet

If you are dreaming of going to colder climates to experience snowy weather, then this is an excellent documentary to watch. The beauty of this film is that you get to experience the dramatic, magical, and mysterious landscapes of the Arctic and Antarctic, which you may never see in real life. In addition to enjoying the soothing voice of the narrator, Sir David Attenborough, you will learn how you can survive in the polar regions of the planet and how snowflakes form.

#4: Human Planet

You can experience some of humankind’s most interesting survival techniques by watching this incredible documentary. In Human Planet, John Hurt shows how people make their homes in some of the most extreme environments such as the snowy Arctic and deep inside dense rainforests. There are a number of amazing survival tips in this breathtaking documentary, and we learn how people have even constructed houses on top of trees in some tropical rainforests.

#3: Further

This documentary, starring Jeremy Jones and his team, is one of the greatest inspirations for mountain climbers and hikers. These guys explore and snowboard down what many call the wildest mountains and forests on our planet. Their aim is to enjoy the ride down the mountain on their snowboards. This adventure either leaves you happy that you are just watching or gives you the confidence to leave your couch and head to the mountain to experience the adrenaline rush for yourself.

#2: Baraka

This incredible documentary involves an adventure in 25 countries on six continents. Right from the beginning, in which you almost feel like you are touching the matted fur of snow monkeys through the screen, you experience the diverse happenings on this planet, which many don’t know about. Since there is no narrative, you’re left wondering, “Why haven’t I gone to such places?”

#1: Around the World in 80 Days

Featuring 17 countries across Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America, this travel documentary is written and presented by Michael Palin as part of the BBC travel series. Palin draws the story from the popular adventure novel by Jules Verne, which bears the same name. The film, which is broadcast in seven episodes, features some refreshing lands and locations where the stars travel using all means of transport except for air travel. That is what makes the documentary so incredible.

You don’t have to keep going to the same travel destination every summer or holiday; explore your options a little by watching the above documentaries. You just need to open your eyes wide and behold the chronicles of travelers; both their perilous challenges and their euphoric victories, in order to get inspired to try something new.

‘Suspiria’ is Essential Horror About Ruthless Female Power

Alessio Bolzoni/Amazon Studios

Last year, in the bowels of an abandoned Italian cinema, some lucky forager happened upon a 35mm print of Dario Argento’s 1977 Suspiria that had been left untouched since the late ‘70s. It was an eerie case of life imitating art; in the film’s finale, the burgeoning ballerina heroine is roving the underbelly corridors of her dance studio when she too finds something uncanny and bewitching.

The best compliment I can pay to Luca Guadagnino’s remake is that it could credibly pass as having been, like its antecedent, dug up out of a basement—or, more aptly, exhumed from the tombs of ‘70s arthouse horror. It is remarkably difficult, in 2018, to produce something anew that feels authentic to another era. Yet this is what Guadagnino has accomplished: a dark fantasy shimmering with the dusty luster of the past.

Long and digressive (Argento’s uncut print spanned six reels; Guadagnino’s would be pushing double digits), the new Suspiria takes the same general story—the dancers, the occult—and lends it a cool austerity. Like the original, the new Suspiria is a fable. Yet screenwriter David Kajganich and Guadagnino mutate the survival story into something spasmodic and at times inscrutable. They envision a mythic universe as expansive as that of Pan’s Labyrinth or The Shining (and poised to inspire just as many fan theories), but they make its defining attribute a fierce femininity. Here, women are strong, capable and powerful, sometimes ruthlessly so. Arriving one year after Me Too boomed through Hollywood, Suspiria holds a whispered decree: believe women. But also: don’t underestimate them.

Vanessa Lachey Opens Up About Son Phoenix’s ‘Traumatic Experience’ in Hospital

Vanessa Lachey is opening up about her son’s Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) diagnosis that left him hospitalized shortly after his birth.

On Tuesday, the mom-of-three posted a photo of Phoenix, who is now almost 2, when he was a baby and shared her experience about caring for her son — who was born 10 weeks prematurely.

“When I gave birth to my youngest, Phoenix, at 30 weeks, I knew he would need extra care,” she wrote on Instagram.

In the shot, Vanessa, 37, holds a young Phoenix — who is wrapped up in a blanket, wearing a hospital gown, and has a breathing tube up his nose.

“But I wasn’t aware that he was at an increased risk for a common respiratory virus called #RSV due to his under-developed lungs and immature immune system,” she continued.

Want all the latest pregnancy and birth announcements, plus celebrity mom blogs? Click here to get those and more in the PEOPLE Babies newsletter.

Those with the respiratory virus typically experience cold-like symptoms, including coughing, runny nose, and fever. Although most RSV infections clear up on their own within 7-14 days, it is especially dangerous for young infants as it can cause breathing difficulty and dehydration, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

“So when he was hospitalized for six days for severe RSV disease, I was shocked and terrified,” Vanessa added. “I wish I had known more about RSV before this traumatic experience.”

She also went on to explain that she is partnering with AstraZeneca, a pharmaceutical company, to raise awareness about the disease during its month-long initiative.

Vanessa and husband Nick Lachey, 44, previously opened up to PEOPLE about adjusting their expectations when it came to the youngest member of their family.

“What I’ve had to do for myself now as a mom of a preemie is to not count the milestones,” Vanessa said at the Pampers‘ #SleptLikeThis event back in January.

“I mean that loosely and with love — to not compare him because every kid is going to be different, especially a preemie,” she added.

The pair — also parents to Brooklyn Elisabeth, 3, and Camden John, 6 — were also careful to not compare what their two older kids were doing as 1-year-olds to what Phoenix was capable of doing.

“He’s smaller, but he’s healthy. He’s so happy,” Vanessa said. “Brooklyn and Camden were standing and walking a little bit at this point and he’s not even near that.”

“And I’m okay with that because every kid has their own time and their own moment,” she explained, “and instead of us dwelling on what he’s not doing, we’re just living and relishing in what he is doing.”

“He’s the happiest, most joyful kid ever,” added Nick. “He’s crawling everywhere, he’s so curious and into everything now.”

Blac Chyna Gets Emotional In Beverly Hills While On An Outing With Friends: ‘They Can Say Whatever They Want About Me’

Blac Chyna was recently spotted on a night out with her pals in Beverly Hills last Friday. She seemed a bit overemotional, as Daily Mail puts it, while she was leaving a steakhouse with her pals.

She was with a female friend, and she told her the following: ‘I want to get my message out. Go out and vote. It’s midterms.’

She also continued and said ‘I’m doing good and my kids are doing very well.’

Daily Mail reports that Chyna went on: ‘I keep quiet, I keep silent. Do you want to know why? Look up your religion. Get more informed. They say whatever they want about me. I look at it and laugh. You know why? Because it’s all false.’

Just recently Chyna discussed other subjects as well such as new music.

‘I’ve been working on some music. I never been the type of person to really coast. I just want to test all my boundaries to see if I can kind of do it,’ she told DailyMailTV.

Backgrid

‘My music is kind of fire. I have a little bit of singing, a little bit of rapping and I have a little love song.’

She also stated a little while ago that she would definitely consider getting back together with Rob Kardashian, but her baby daddy did not address the issue, at least not in public.

Speaking of Rob, Chyna’s mom, Tokyo Toni begged him via social media to let her see Dream Kardashian in a really emotional video.

Here’s why everyone’s talking about Jennifer Aniston’s controversial Friends revelation

And we can’t deal

Rex

After ten years of being there for us, Friends left our screens in 2004 – leaving a Central Perk shaped hole in our hearts – and we’re still not over it.

Yes it may have been 14 years since Chandler, Rachel, Ross, Monica, Phoebe and Joey made their last appearances but it still feels like it was just yesterday.

We’re still deeply invested in Rachel and Ross’ tumultuous relationship, we’ve never given up hope on Parker (Alec Baldwin) coming back into our lives, and are we the only ones confused by our feelings for Ben now that he’s grown up and starring in Riverdale?

Despite their relationship statuses being more uncertain than Brexit and the characters moving house and changing their jobs far too frequently, there was of course one constant on the show, Rachel Green’s perfect hair.

friends favourite character matt leblanc

The cast of Friends

From the iconic bob to the long layered look, everyone wanted ‘the Rachel’, no matter what season we were on.

The only issue of course was that no one was actually able to maintain ‘the Rachel’ other than Jennifer Aniston herself.

Flashback to all of us having a meltdown when we realised that we had cut all of our hair off and still looked nothing like Jennifer Aniston.

Yes, surprise surprise only Jennifer Aniston can pull of ‘the Rachel’ – a look created by iconic hairstylist Chris McMillan, but according to the actress, even she couldn’t handle the look.

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston

While winning the 2018 Hairstylist of the Year award, Jen was given the honour of introducing Chris to the stage, but not before she told the whole world of the woes of ‘the Rachel’ upkeep behind the scenes.

‘You feel beautiful, you feel sexy, you feel alive, and then you feel screwed because no one has the ability to actually do what Chris did to this haircut,’ she explained to the audience. ‘I used to call it “The Rachel” years when I got that haircut. That was like “wow, this is amazing” and then I was totally left with this, like, Greek, frizzy mop on my head, because I had no idea how to do what he did.’

She concluded: ‘No one seems to know how to do what Chris does. I figured out that’s called creating job security, so well done Chris on that.’

Well at least it’s not just us that couldn’t cope with the iconic look – if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to burn all of the photos of us in the 90s.

Cristiano Ronaldo Speaks Out for the First Time About Sexual Assault Allegation: ‘My Lawyers Are Confident and I Am, Too’

(MANCHESTER, England) — Speaking publicly for the first time since being accused of rape, Cristiano Ronaldo defended himself against the allegation and said Monday he is confident the truth will come out in the case.

The soccer superstar has been accused of rape in the United States. Kathryn Mayorga filed a civil lawsuit last month in Nevada claiming Ronaldo raped her in his Las Vegas hotel room in 2009. Police also reopened an investigation into the allegation at her request.

Ronaldo’s attorney, Peter S. Christiansen, issued a statement on Oct. 10 denying wrongdoing by his client.

“I’m not going to lie in this situation,” Ronaldo said at a news conference ahead of a Champions League match between his Italian team, Juventus, and former club Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday. “I’m very happy. My lawyers, they are confident and of course I am, too. The most important, is I enjoy the football, I enjoy my life. The rest, I have people who take care of my life.

“Of course, the truth is always coming in the first position.”

Christiansen declined comment. Attorneys Leslie Mark Stovall and Larissa Drohobyczer, representing Mayorga, did not immediately respond to messages.

Ronaldo previously had confronted the allegations in an Instagram video posted Oct. 3, hours after the suit was filed.

“Fake. Fake news,” the five-time world player of the year said at that time.

Christiansen has branded documents that led to media reports about the rape claim “complete fabrications” and asserted that the encounter in a Las Vegas hotel penthouse bedroom was consensual. Attorneys for Mayorga have challenged Ronaldo’s legal team to prove that documents are false.

Ronaldo joined Juventus in the offseason from Real Madrid. He has scored five goals in nine matches for the Italian champion, and two in three matches since being accused of rape.

Asked about his status as a soccer role model, the 33-year-old Ronaldo said Monday: “I know I am an example. I know, 100 percent. On the pitch and outside the pitch. So I am always smiling, I am happy man. I’m blessed that I play in a fantastic club, I have a fantastic family, I have four kids, I am healthy. I have everything.”

“So the rest, it doesn’t interfere on me,” he added, before saying with a smile: “I’m very, very well.”

Ronaldo is returning to Old Trafford for the second time since leaving United to join Real Madrid in 2009. The first time was for the second leg of a Champions League last 16-match between United and Madrid in 2013, when he was given a standing ovation by United fans and introduced as the “magnificent seven” — a reference to the number he had at the English club.

Ronaldo scored the winning goal that night, eliminating United.

The Portugal forward has won the Champions League five times, once with United in 2008 and then at Madrid in 2014, ’16, ’17 and this year.

“I remember what it was like in Manchester. My history, we won lots of trophies, cups, leagues and the Champions League. I remember the support of the fans. (Then-United manager) Sir Alex (Ferguson) is someone I will never forget. He was a huge lift in my career.

“When I knew we were playing Manchester United, it was a huge thing for me.”

Prince Harry just made a very public speech about Meghan Markle and their baby

And it’s too much!

Ever since Prince Harry showed off his parenting skills, jokily scolding a little boy for pulling his wife’s hair and then catching two-year-old Emily Henson stealing his popcorn at last year’s Invictus Games, fans have been waiting for the 33-year-old Prince to become a father himself.

And now it seems the time is here.

Yes, after tying the knot in May, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced last week that they were expecting a baby, arriving in Spring 2019.

The news broke soon after the royal couple’s arrival in Australia for their royal tour, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly telling the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince William and Kate Middleton at Princess Eugenie’s wedding.

Following the official statement by Kensington Palace, the future parents have spoken out about their excitement.

‘Thank you for the welcome you have given Meghan and I over the last few days,’ Prince Harry announced in his speech at the Invictus Games opening ceremony. ‘I have been so proud to be able to introduce my wife to you and we have been so happy to be able to celebrate the personal joy of our newest addition with you all.

Unsurprisingly the comments have set the internet alight with excitement, and it’s not the first comments the couple have made about their future arrival, while on tour.

While visiting a family in Dubbo, New South Wales, Meghan is said to have opened up about her pregnancy with mother Emily Carroll, who has 13-month-old daughter Ruby.

‘Meghan told me that she’s feeling pretty good so far, which is great, and that she’s running on adrenalin,’ Emily explained. ‘She said they’re doing 76 engagements in 16 days, with maybe one rest in the middle.

Emily continued: ‘She’s made for this royal business, isn’t she? They’re both great with kids.’

‘We also genuinely couldn’t think of a better place to announce the, er, upcoming baby,’ Prince Harry said during a speech last week. ‘Whether it’s a boy or a girl. So thank you very, very much.’

Black Voters Gloomy About Current Conditions as Midterms Loom

With midterm elections approaching soon, many black voters don’t view current economic circumstances for them glowingly.

In fact, a fresh poll paid for by the new Black Economic Alliance PAC reveals that 62% of registered African American voters are discontented with the nation’s direction and convinced conditions are “poor” or “very poor” for the black community.

The findings stem from a poll of voters from the battleground states of Georgia, Florida, Nevada, Ohio, and Tennessee. About half of the respondents think economic conditions are getting worse for African Americans; 56% of respondents are tracking midterm election news and political information “very closely.”

The Black Economic Alliance is a U.S. political action committee started this year by black business executives. In August, the Alliance announced it would spend millions of dollars in the midterm elections backing candidates working to boost the economic interests of African Americans.

“In cycle after cycle, black voters have played a major role in determining who wins elections from the statehouse to the White House—but there remains a real disconnect between the elected leaders who depend on our support and the kinds of economic policies that determine the opportunities available to our community,” stated Akunna Cook, the Alliance’s executive director, stated in a press release.

“Our research sends a clear message to candidates and elected leaders on both sides of the aisle: Black voters are deeply dissatisfied with the status quo, and we want champions who will drive an economic agenda that benefits black Americans.”

Other findings from the poll:

  • The top five issues respondents would include in an economic agenda: Health care affordability (87%), investing in skills training (85%), affordable childcare (86%), college affordability (83%), and eliminating race and gender wage gaps (83%)
  • Just 14% of those polled believe economic conditions are improving

The Black Economic Alliance poll, which surveyed 804 African American voters, was done by telephone from Sept. 20–27. Based in Washington, D.C., the Black Economic Alliance includes a group of executives from a broad range of industries.

So far, the Alliance has endorsed over 24 candidates in key congressional, U.S. Senate, and gubernatorial races—including gubernatorial candidates Stacey Abrams in Georgia, Andrew Gillum in Florida, Rich Cordray in Ohio, former Tennessee Governor and current U.S. Senate candidate Phil Bredesen, Lauren Baer (FL-18), Steven Horsford (NV-04), Lucy McBath (GA-06), Debbie Powell (FL-26), and others, according to its website.

Four Key Facts About Women Voters

With the 2018 election now in full swing, the Ms. Blog is excited to bring you content presented in conjunction with Gender Watch 2018, a project of the Barbara Lee Family Foundation and the Center for American Women and Politics. They’ll be tracking, analyzing and illuminating gender dynamics during election season—so check back with us regularly!

After the conclusion of the Senate Confirmation Hearings, which featured powerful testimony from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, 70 percent of Republican women continued to support his confirmation. This show of support came as a surprise to many people who expected Ford’s accusations of sexual assault to further polarize women voters—consistent with speculation that we will see a historic gender gap in the impending 2018 midterms.

We’ve been studying the gender gap in American politics for 10 years, and our research suggests that Republican women’s continued support for Kavanaugh, and continued enthusiasm for the party generally, should come as no surprise. There is a tendency to associate women with the Democratic party, but liberalism isn’t the full story when it comes to women voters. In this era of heightened party polarization—where party identities are so strong and so distinct from one another —party loyalties play an outsized role in determining who people vote for on election day, for both men and women.

Democratic women are loyal to Democratic candidates. Republican women are loyal to Republican candidates. This is true even in situations where these party loyalties might be challenged, like races where gender issues are at the forefront because of sexual misconduct or because women are running in historic candidacies.

This isn’t the story the media is telling. Instead, they’ve suggested that the gender gap is becoming a gender chasm.

Women prefer Democratic candidates by a record margin. Women are abandoning the Republican Party. GOP women are growing dissatisfied with their party. And GOP women are less motivated about voting. Some Democrats are likely feeling pretty optimistic about this news, but this optimism is often misplaced. Just because there are more women candidates running than ever before and gender has emerged as a common theme in the 2018 midterms doesn’t mean that women are becoming more politically united.

Here are four things that you need to know to truly understand the gender gap.

Many women voters and candidates are motivated by the sexism they see in Washington—but Republican women remain loyal to their party, and an upset due to the gender gap isn’t necessarily a certainty looking ahead to the midterm elections. (Charles Edward Miller / Creative Commons)

#1: Party identification trumps gender when it comes to voting.

Party identification is the most important factor for determining voting patterns. Both women and men rarely cross party lines to vote for opposition candidates. Yes, our research shows there has been a persistent and growing gender gap between the parties since the 1970s, with women more likely to identify as Democrats and men as Republicans. But once men and women choose to identify with a party, they stay pretty loyal to that party’s candidates.

There was a lot of speculation that 2016 would be an exception to this rule and that Republican women would vote for Hillary Clinton because of Donald Trump’s “woman problem.” But women largely remained loyal to their party. Exit polls show that 89 percent of Republican women voted for Trump. Similarly, 90 percent of Democratic women voted for Clinton.

Reporters are suggesting that Republican women may abandon their party in 2018. Consistent with past results, an October 2nd poll that found 55 percent of women said they would vote for a Democratic candidate for Congress compared to 43 percent of men, if the midterm elections were held today.

But this comparison isn’t very useful, because it doesn’t account for party affiliation.

If you use this same poll, but compare men and women from the same party, a different picture emerges. Ninety-three percent of Republican women and 91 percent of Republican men reported that they would vote for a Republican candidate for Congress if the election were held today. Just like in 2016, registered Republicans, whether male or female, plan to turn out for Republican candidates.

#2: Party isn’t the only factor that divides women.

In addition to party, race, education, and class create sharp divisions among women. African-American women, Latinas, and college-educated women overwhelmingly support Democratic candidates. By contrast, a majority of white women typically vote Republican. In 2016, for example, 90 percent of women who voted for Trump were white. But, as our research shows, there are divisions among white women too. White women with a college degree were about twice as likely to support Clinton over Trump in 2016. On the other hand, low-income white women were much more supportive of Trump than middle- and upper-income women.

For the most part, these patterns are nothing new – they reflect long-standing trends in American political behavior. White women have long supported Republican presidential candidates, with the notable exception of Bill Clinton’s presidential bids in 1992 and 1996. The education gap among white women opened up in the 1990s, when a majority of college-educated white women started to support Democratic candidates. Taking race, education, and class into account like this quickly clears up the picture of the gender gap.

#3: Women won’t automatically vote for a candidate just because she is also a woman.

A big part of the story about gender in the 2018 midterms is that there are more women running for office than ever before. Most of these female candidates are Democrats, and there is little to suggest that Republican women will cross party lines to vote for a female Democratic candidate. It’s not just a matter of party, but also a matter of policy.

In our research, we analyzed opinion in 10 different policy areas, and found that Republican women hold attitudes that are much more similar to Republican men than to Democrats of either gender. While Republican women have slightly more moderate views than Republican men on “women’s issues”—including education, child care and healthcare—the gaps between parties are much bigger than differences between men and women within either party. Because Republican women have such conservative policy preferences, the spate of new female Democratic candidates is not likely to appeal to them.

Beyond this, many Republican women are perfectly happy being represented by men. In a poll conducted by CBS news, only 19 percent of Republican women think it is very important to elect more women or even that more women in political office would make the country better.

#4: The gender gap doesn’t automatically benefit Democrats. Turnout matters.

On average, women are more supportive of the Democratic party. Women are also more likely to turn out to vote compared to men. While this seems like it might automatically translate into a Democratic Party advantage, this isn’t necessarily the case. In 2016, white women turned out at higher than average rates, and the majority of them voted for Donald Trump. In the 2017 Special Election for Alabama Senate, African- American women turned out at unusually high rates, solidifying a victory for Democrat Doug Jones over Republican candidate Roy Moore.

What can we expect in terms of turnout in the 2018 midterms? Although a July 2nd poll of registered voters found that Democratic women were 10 percentage points more likely than Republican women to say the November elections are “very important,” this enthusiasm gap has disappeared in the wake of the Kavanaugh hearings. An October 1st poll of registered voters showed that 79 percent of Democratic women and 83 percent of Republican women now believe that the upcoming midterm is “very important”—a statistical tie.

Ultimately, women are not a unified group politically, and we should be skeptical of reporting on the gender gap that suggests they are. Partisanship plays a powerful role in shaping women’s voting behavior—and any one particular event or candidate is unlikely to override the power of party loyalty and create a major electoral upheaval.

Tamar Braxton Tells Her Former ‘The Real’ Co-Hosts Exactly How She Feels About Returning To The Show In Surprising Video

Oh, Boy! Tamar Braxton had an epic clap-back for the ladies of The Real who had a lot to say about her firing.

It is a known fact that Tamar is not one to hold her tongue and while appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen After Show, she threw her former co-hosts under the bus.

A caller asked her when was the last time she spoke with her ex-friends — Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, Adrienne Houghton, and Tamera Mowry-Housley.

The fan also wondered if she would ever return to the show. Tamar said: “The last time I spoke to them was at the Emmys. Would I return to do what?”

Andy Cohen added: “To be on the show, sweetie.” Tamar replied, “I don’t know.” Andy sensed where Vincent Herbert’s estranged wife was leaning and added, “you’re the best! I have a feeling the answer is no!”

You can watch the clip below.

Tamar’s ex-coworker, Loni, recently did an interview on the Breakfast Club, where she was asked why was Tamar fired from The Real, and she brought up Towanda’s name by saying: “I get on a plane to go to Atlanta [and] guess who’s in front of me, in first-class: Towanda. She told me they did an emergency episode of Braxton Family Values, and, ‘You need to see the episode.’”

She continued, “I had a person that worked at WEtv. The person that worked at WEtv contacted me [and said], ‘You are being named, the girls are being named,’ and I called my attorney, and I said, ‘You gotta call WEtv and let them know if they’re naming us, we’re gonna have to have legal action. That’s defamation of character.”

Towanda was not having it, and she hit back by writing: “What I’m not willing to do is allow ANYONE to create dissension. I absolutely was on that flight with @comiclonilove And how many years ago was this conversation? I’m amused at how the statements were paraphrased. It was NEVER a heads up…. AND as soon as I saw Loni on the flight, I IMMEDIATELY contacted Tamar to let her know. The interview circulating that I’m included in is bullsh*t.”

One fan said: “You better come through with this fabulous read!!!! Tamar has moved on to bigger and better things! It’s so pathetic that they still have to bring up old news!!! I haven’t watched it since she left!!!’

Tamar masters the art of the diss and she has no competition in this department.

Jeannie Mai Breaks Down About Recent Divorce On ‘The Real’ [Video]

When you get married you’re expecting your “happily ever after,” but for so many of us, that’s not the case. According to the American Psychological Association, about 40 to 50 percent of marriages in the United States end in divorce.

Jeannie Mai, host of The Real, opened up on the show about her divorce from Husband Freddy Harteis.  “Knowing what I know now about who I married, I wouldn’t have married him,” Mai shared.

“It’s just crazy. You hear all the time that money can change people. Well, divorce can really change people. It’s just so weird because the one thing that he would always say back then is like, ‘You really, truly don’t know a person until they don’t get what they want.’ But I never thought he would be the one to prove that to me,” Mai, 39, explained as she began to cry.

Mai and Harteis, who hosts The Hollywood Hunter, said I do in 2007 and split last fall after 10 years of marriage, PEOPLE reported.

Mai’s experience with divorce is not uncommon. While a happy marriage can be healthy for both people, both mentally and physically, an unhealthy marriage does just the opposite.

The American Psychological Association suggests, speaking to a psychologist to help you deal with your emotions and adjust to the changes can help ease the stress of divorce. Psychologists can also help you identify what went wrong in your marriage so you can avoid repeating any negative patterns in your next relationship.

Baseball’s Greatest Poem Is About a Loser

Credit: Photo Illustration by The Daily Beast

For all of the carping these days about the slow pace of baseball, there was a time when our grand, clockless sport fired millions of imaginations.

Said firing was helped along by a 24-year-old Easterner named Ernest Thayer, who had gone west to San Francisco to make his journalistic name. If you knew a Thayer who was a writer, you were probably a classical music aficionado, and had tracked down a copy of Alexander Thayer’s first-ever biography of Beethoven. But our Mr. Thayer was interested in another mighty B, you might say, that being baseball in all of its attendant, grand-sweeping powers, as borne out in poesy.

It was 130 years ago that Thayer published “Casey at the Bat,” a 13-verse poem that he regarded as doggerel. But this was high-level doggerel, if the term ever fit. You may have never sat down to read those 13 verses, you may have nary a clue who Ernest Thayer is, you may not like baseball, you may detest all things “sports ball,” but there is no way you have not come in contact with some aspect of the finest poem about athletics ever penned in this country.

5 Lessons Will Smith Shared at AdWeek About Rebranding and Staying Relevant After 50

Will Smith has sealed a stellar legacy in entertainment. He’s starred in several blockbuster films, a successful TV sitcom, and earned five Grammy Awards along with multiple Oscar and Golden Globes nods. But the Hollywood star isn’t done yet. Following an illustrious 30-year career, Smith is now embracing social media in his next act.

Last week, the acclaimed actor and rapper opened up at New York Advertising Week about his successful career and his new journey as a YouTube star. “I feel like I’m getting a fourth bite of the entertainment apple,” said the 50-year-old superstar during a session with Google VP Adam Stewart.

Here are five lessons Smith shared about personal growth, rebranding after 50, and the next stage of his life and career:

1. Get Into Tech

Technology has been a major disruptor in almost every industry and especially in Hollywood. According to Smith, making a blockbuster movie is no longer as easy as it once was because social media has forced directors and producers to improve the quality of their films, rather than depending on movie trailers to sell movie tickets.

“We used to say ‘We’re not in the movie business, we’re in the trailer business,’” Smith said candidly. “Once you have a good trailer you’re done. Now, what’s happened with technology, on Friday night at 7:30, people are tweeting, ‘Hey, Will’s movie sucks, go see Vin Diesel’s.’”

Because news, whether good or bad, spreads so quickly on social media, movie makers don’t have the luxury of time to build box office success. “We no longer [have] the three-day window,” Smith said. “If you had a great trailer, it was Monday at noon before everybody knew that Wild Wild West sucked. You had already made your money.”

Although some people may still be resistant to the changes tech has created, Smith’s point serves as a reminder that businesses must embrace social media in order to grow their brand in the digital era. Smith, for example, has partnered with YouTube to launch his own channel, which now boasts 3.7 million subscribers. He also has a massive following on Twitter and Instagram, which has allowed the Men in Black star to connect with younger audiences and remain relevant.

2. Face Your Fear

During the session, Smith talked about how he recently conquered one of his biggest fears – death – to mark his 50th birthday. He celebrated the special occasion on Sept. 25 by bungee jumping out of a helicopter and into the Grand Canyon. The heart-pounding experience was live-streamed on YouTube.

“I’ve had an interesting relationship with fear my whole life,” said Smith in the video, titled Will Smith: The Jump. “[When I was younger, my family and I], we drove to the Grand Canyon and I remember having a deeply meaningful experience of how beautiful it was, but I was terrified of walking to the edge. All my family walked up to the edge but I stayed back, too scared to take in the beauty. I’ve made it a point in my life to attack anything that I’m scared of.”

At AdWeek, Smith admitted the 1,000-foot leap into the Grand Canyon was an “absolute complete terror.” However, confronting his fear empowered him to take risks in other areas of his life and drown out an inner voice that repeatedly tells him “‘you’re going to die.’” He’s realized that the voice will be right only one time in his life and he shouldn’t let it stop him from taking chances. “[Until] that one time comes, why should you give a f–k? Just have fun.”

3. Trust Your Gut

Smith advised the audience of ad executives not to become consumed by data and metrics. Instead, he encouraged them to listen to their intuition and defy data when necessary. “Nothing is more valuable than your gut,” he said. “The metrics are there to help you train your gut because, at the end of the day, you have to make the call on the extraordinary. The metrics keep you in the ordinary. The thing that succeeds is going to be way outside what somebody even thought was possible.”

Smith’s advice is applicable to business owners and professionals in all settings. Sometimes your biggest rewards lie outside of your comfort zone. So don’t be afraid to take a leap of faith when the opportunity presents itself.

4. It’s Not About Winning

Don’t let social media data, analytics, and quantitative feedback make you lose sight of your purpose. Rather, Smith encouraged the audience to focus on connecting with people, growth, and being happy. He also admitted that for the first time in his career, his work is not centered on an agenda, which has granted him a greater level of creative freedom and expression and the ability to have fun in the process. “It always has to be for joy and expansion,” he said. “You can’t get caught in trying to win. If you get caught in trying to win, you can completely lose contact with the audience and with the intention.”

5. The Secret to Business Success

Another gem Smith dropped was about using your individual experiences to drive your creativity and overall success. Focus on personal growth, which, in turn, can translate into growth for your company and brand, he said. “As much focus as you can have on expanding yourself and expanding your wisdom and expanding your best qualities, I think is the best way to create better businesses.” Simply put, he added, “be a better you.”

What Neil Armstrong Biopic First Man Gets Right and Wrong About the Moon Landing

There are two ways of talking about the historical accuracy of First Man, the Damien Chazelle biopic of Apollo 11 commander Neil Armstrong, starring Ryan Gosling: the easy way and the hard way. The hard way is to explore all of the things the movie got right — which is a very, very long list. The easy way is to discuss the things it got wrong, which you could count on one hand — literally.

It is one of the many triumphs of First Man that it tells an exceedingly complicated story of an exceedingly complicated man — a story populated by dozens of other important figures — and does so almost entirely without eliding or streamlining the truth, or worse, inventing things completely. A lot of the credit for that accuracy goes to the diligence of James R. Hansen, the author of the First Man biography, and Josh Singer, who adapted the book for the screen. It says something too that the few mistakes First Man does make are relatively small-bore stuff.

One of those blunders appears early, in the very first moments of the movie, during the scene of a harrowing flight Armstrong took in an X-15 rocket plane in 1961. The scene is true to what happened: Armstrong’s violent ride into the stratosphere, more than 20 miles above the ground, which took a nasty turn when he nearly couldn’t return to Earth as the plane began “ballooning,” or bouncing off the top of the atmosphere rather than slicing back into it. The scene is true too to the claustrophobic look of the X-15 cockpit. What isn’t so true is when we look out the window at the wispy carpet of clouds just below Armstrong’s wings — a lovely enough scene, except that at 120,000 feet, Armstrong was at about twice the altitude at which even the highest clouds form. Minor glitch, surely, except that coming in the film’s opening act, it doesn’t inspire confidence.

The good news is you have to wait a long time to have your confidence shaken even a little again. That happens during the flight of Gemini 8 — Armstrong’s first trip into space, and nearly his last, as the spacecraft spun wildly out of control. This time the problem was in the cockpit, which was rendered with exacting accuracy except for the fact that someone on-set really needed to give it a quick scrub-down first.

All of America’s early spacecraft — Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, the lunar module — were single-use ships. They had never been flown before the day of launch, and would never be flown again. As a result, they all had a certain straight-from-the-showroom look to them. According to Jim Lovell, the commander of Apollo 13, they even had something of a new-car smell. In the movie, however, Gemini 8’s interior has a Millennium Falcon feel, with grime and even a bit of rust on some of its switches. The same is true later when we see the interior of the lunar module in which Armstrong and crew-mate Buzz Aldrin flew down to the lunar surface.

“By the time we got back to Earth, the spacecraft did look pretty dirty,” says Al Worden, command module pilot of the Apollo 15 lunar mission, who was a consultant on the movie. No doubt, but not at the first moments the astronauts strapped in, and certainly not at all for Gemini 8, a mission that had to be aborted early and lasted less than eleven hours from liftoff to splashdown.

The movie strays from the truth too when Armstrong gets the news that he has been tapped to command Apollo 11, and, that if the mission goes as planned, he will become the first man on the moon. Gosling’s reaction — little more than a nod — was probably awfully close to how Armstrong took the news. But how he learned that news was wrong.

Apollo astronauts were assigned to their three-man crews sometimes years in advance. Indeed, in many cases they were on a three-plus-three flight rotation. If you flew on Apollo 8, you would serve as a back-up crew member on Apollo 11, and would return to the cockpit for Apollo 14. What no one knew at the point in the program in which the relevant scene in First Man takes place is exactly what the crews would do on their missions, since every flight was dependent on the success of the previous mission. For the two-plus years leading up to Apollo 11, the betting was that the first moon landing would not come until Apollo 12, 13 or even 14. It was only the surprise success of Apollo 8 — the first lunar orbit, which flew just eight months before Armstrong’s Apollo 11 — that accelerated the program.

Read more: Space Is Terrifying. Ryan Gosling and Damien Chazelle Prove It in First Man

Finally, poignantly, there is First Man’s tenderest scene, which takes place on the lunar surface, when Armstrong spends a few minutes alone at a formation called Little West Crater, something he did do in the brief two and a half hours he spent exploring the moon. (Significant spoilers follow.) The most shattering experience in Armstrong’s life, the one from which all of his later-life reserve may have flowed, was the death of his two-year-old daughter, from brain cancer, shortly before he applied to NASA’s astronaut program. In the scene following her death, we see Armstrong open his desk drawer and put away a tiny bracelet that spells out his daughter’s name, Karen, in lettered beads. On the moon, he opens his hand to reveal the bracelet and drops it into the crater, where it will rest forever.

There is no historical record that Armstrong did any such thing, but some signs suggest he did. Astronauts flew with what was known as a PPK, or personal preference kit, which contained any sentimental or otherwise non-regulation items they wanted to bring with them. Those items may have been personal, but the astronauts were required to file a manifest detailing precisely what their PPK contained. Armstrong’s has since gone missing.

“Hansen asked Armstrong for his PPK manifest and he said he lost it,” says Singer, “which was very unlike Neil, who was a pack rat.” Hansen then asked Armstrong’s sister, June, if he might have left something of Karen’s on the moon. Says Singer: “She teared up and said, ‘Oh, I dearly hope so.’”

Audiences could be forgiven for hoping so too. Perhaps the most important item on the long, long list of things First Man gets right is the privately borne pain Armstrong seemed to carry with him his entire life. It would be nice to think that if he found a way to honor that pain, all alone at a spot no human being had ever been before, it at last brought him some much-deserved relief.

Jimmy Kimmel Made a Video to Support His Theory About Melania Trump’s Trip

First Lady Melania Trump just completed her first solo excursion in a political capacity, touring Africa for five days and stopping by hospitals and orphanages, hanging out with elephants and visiting famous sites like the Sphinx and the Pyramids on her journey. And while plenty of attention has been paid to both her ongoing promotion of her ‘Be Best’ campaign and her fashion choices for the jaunt, Jimmy Kimmel wants to focus on something different: her facial expressions.

Kimmel drew a sharp contrast between the First Lady’s seemingly joyful spirit while photographed and videoed during her public engagements in Egypt, Ghana, Malawi and Kenya in comparison to clips of her taken while back in the U.S. at the side of her husband President Donald Trump for a spoof.

“This is Melania’s first trip overseas, and she really seemed to enjoy herself,” Kimmel suggested. “It’s not scientific, but draw your own conclusion.” (They added in some ominous Star Wars music for effect to really draw out the stark difference between her U.S. self versus her cheerful African tourist self.)

Now that she is back on U.S. ground.

Here’s Kimmel’s spoof below.

Everything You Need to Know About the Next Royal Wedding

On Friday, Princess Eugenie marries her boyfriend, Jack Brooksbank, in a lavish ceremony at Windsor Castle. In the same chapel, just five months ago, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot, giving the British monarchy its greatest boost in a generation. This wedding is likely to have the opposite effect on royal poll ratings.

In many ways, the two ceremonies will be surprisingly similar: Harry had 800 guests, Eugenie is having 850. Harry invited 1,000 members of the public, selected by ballot, Eugenie is having 1,200. Harry and Meghan had a carriage ride through the streets of Windsor, Eugenie and Jack are having one too. Harry and Meghan had glorious weather; Eugenie and Jack no doubt want the same.

But some things will be very different.

Jason Garrett ‘talked about thought process’ behind OT punt with Jerry Jones

FRISCO, Texas — At the day-after analysis of the Dallas Cowboys’ 19-16 overtime loss to the Houston Texans, coach Jason Garrett on Monday explained his decision to punt on the first possession of overtime to owner and general manager Jerry Jones. After the game, Jones was critical of the decision to punt at the Houston 42 since the Cowboys did not regain possession and lost on a 36-yard field goal by Ka’imi Fairbairn with 1:50 to play in overtime. "We were being outplayed there, not out-efforted but we were outplayed," Jones said Sunday. "But it’s time for risk at that particular time. That’s not second-guessing, but we were taking some risk too at certain points in the game." After the game, Garrett defended the decision because he was relying on a defense that forced three punts, created two turnovers and gave up just two field goals in the second half. On Monday, Garrett relayed the message to Jones during their Monday meeting. "We…

Janice Dickinson – The Alleged Victim Says She ‘Laughed With Joy And Relief’ Upon Learning About Bill Cosby’s Guilty Verdict!

One of the many women who accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault, Janice Dickinson, made it very clear that she couldn’t be any happier about the man’s prison sentence. The retired supermodel, now 63, was in attendance at the Carousel of Hope Ball last night and while there, she talked to ET, opening up about Brett Kavanaugh frustratingly getting onto the Supreme Court despite the accusations brought against him.

But at least Bill Cosby was found guilty, right?

‘I have had a tough week because of the Kavanaugh thing and I really am an activist that is behind women because I was not believed in the beginning. You have to believe the women, so I am going to keep my fight going.’

She went on to share that ‘I am still suing Cosby in a civil case, even if my attorney Lisa Bloom has to go to prison to take his deposition. But, you know what, I feel vindicated. We came out on top and it was just really a good thing for all women for the biggest serial rapist in the United States history gets taken away in handcuffs.’

The outlet’s reporter was curious to know how she reacted when learning about Cosby’s verdict.

‘I just laughed. Others cried. I was laughing just with joy and relief that he will not be able to do that to another woman,’ Dickinson responded.

She also previously talked to the Daily Mail shortly after the sentencing, saying: ‘I have been holding this in since 1982 and it is slowly seeping out of me, the toxicity levels of emotion and the catastrophic pain and the nightmares for so many years. I just bounced out of bed and was like, ‘Wow.’’

Your HelloGiggles horoscope, October 7th to 13th: Our relationships are about to get intense AF

Your HelloGiggles horoscope, October 7th to 13th: Our relationships are about to get intense AF

Lately you’ve probably been spending your time admiring the autumn leaves with your loved ones, sipping your PSLs, and daydreaming about your Halloween costume. Well, say goodbye to those tranquil and friendly vibes from the Fall Equinox, because things are about to get intense—and enlightening. On October 6th, Venus goes retrograde (yes, another retrograde) in Scorpio, forcing us to take a good, hard look at our relationships for the next six weeks. Then, on the 8th, a New Moon in Libra means we’ll be further reassessing our current connections. Your relationships won’t know what hit ’em this week!

The New Moon in Libra, the sign that’s known for its partnerships, gives a bit of a surge to Venus Retrograde, especially since Venus rules Libra. You’ll be looking for commitment and confirmation from all of your relationships, including romantic, business, and platonic. At the same time, if long-term isn’t in the stars for you, then be prepared to let some people go. As is the theme of the seasonal change into fall, it’s time to shed the old and outdated and prepare for the new.

LIBRA

Your relationship inventory is going to take a hit this week, Libra. With Venus, your home planet, going retrograde, and a New Moon in your sign, you’ll be feeling the changes more than most. As the sign of balance, your biggest question will be: Where, and with whom, do you find the most harmony? Proceed from there.

SCORPIO

Venus is going retrograde in your sign this week, Scorpio. Just when you thought you couldn’t get anymore intense, think again. You’re evaluating your relationships like a harsh judge who’s sick and tired of being taken for granted. You’re more than ready to cut people out of your life. But remember: you can only get as good as you give.

SAGITTARIUS

It’s time to take it easy, Sag. You often put too much pressure on yourself and point out what hasn’t happened or what you haven’t done more so than what you have accomplished. Try to view your relationships in this light too. Every breakup or disappointment is a lesson and a blessing.

CAPRICORN

You’ve been focusing so much on work lately, Capricorn, that you have conveniently forgotten about your social life. There is a world outside of your career, and now is the time to remember that. Take stock of what you’d like to cultivate in your relationships, and use the power of the New Moon to manifest your deepest desires.

AQUARIUS

Your sex life is about to get crazy intense, Aquarius. Temptations and taboo subjects surround you, including past indiscretions that you thought were dead and buried. Now is your moment to decide whether you will fall for what’s being offered or hold out for what you really want.

PISCES

You’re feeling a little out of your element in the love department, Pisces. Maybe you’re flying solo after a long-term relationship or maybe you’re flying by the seat of your pants in a new partnership. Whatever your situation, it’s important not to lose sight of yourself and your needs. When in doubt, rely on your killer intuition.

ARIES

Your impulsive ways are being put to the test this week, Aries. You’ll want to move full-steam ahead with a new project or passionate affair, but now isn’t the best time to throw caution to the wind. Instead, reflect on the lessons of the past year and see where you can implement lasting changes to reap long-term fulfillment.

TAURUS

Since Venus is your ruling planet, Taurus, you’ll definitely feel the effects of her going retrograde. In some ways, it might feel like your whole world has been turned upside down. What felt fine last week suddenly feels really uncomfortable. Likewise, what or who you didn’t appreciate before might be the thing/person you value most.

GEMINI

This week, Gemini, you’ll be asked to understand and compromise with someone a lot more than you normally would, or like to. While it’ll feel uncomfortable to put yourself out there more than usual, there’s a lot to be said about extending extra kindness and energy to those who need it most.

CANCER

Your home life is about to change, Cancer. While you might be undergoing necessary changes, no matter how daunting they might be, reframing your past is the best way to put it behind you for good. Do what you can with what you have right now, and leave the past behind you.

LEO

It’s time to let the people in your life take care of you, Leo. While you never give up an opportunity to be pampered, you don’t like to be vulnerable. However, everyone needs to surrender at times. Allow yourself to be nurtured and held. It’s gonna be okay.

VIRGO

You’re feeling all sorts of feels this week, Virgo, which is different for you. While you might not like to acknowledge and process deep emotions, this is a necessary part of your evolution. Don’t suppress your deepest desires. Unabashedly want what you want and feel what you feel.

This week is gonna shake up our love lives real good, bbs. However, this is all leading us towards our higher good, including deep, lasting relationships that help us thrive. We gotta feel it to heal it.

WEDDING PREP UPDATE:

A Rape Accusation Against Cristiano Ronaldo Is Finally Getting Attention. It’s About Time Soccer Had Its #MeToo Moment

Cristiano Ronaldo is Portugal’s most famous soccer player and arguably the most famous athlete in the world. But in the last few days, his name hasn’t been in headlines for winning championships or crying on the pitch after being issued a red card. His name is flashing across screens because of a 34 year-old woman named Kathryn Mayorga, has come forward to say Ronaldo brutally raped her in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009.

How is it possible that a story that sports media in North America had no interest in publishing less than two years ago, is now splashed all over every screen and social media platform? This case was not reported on by any major outlet except for a story in 2017 by the independent German newspaper Der Spiegel. Except for a select few commenting on social media (myself included), the case against Ronaldo got no traction. Fast forward 18 months, and Der Spiegel published another story. This time, it was a detailed account from Kathryn Mayorga herself. The publication spent more than 20 days with her and held countless interviews, fact checked and re-checked before it published.

The documents acquired by der Spiegel were damning and according to a recent Twitter thread by one of the main authors, Christoph Winterbach, there were more than 20 staff involved in working on the article. In response. Ronaldo’s lawyer and his team made a lot of noise as part of their legal posturing and even accused der Spiegel’s piece of being “illegal” because “it violates the personal rights” of Ronaldo. Laughable at best.

For those who understand the law, and the severity of the crime, there is much substance in this story. Back in 2009, Mayorga’s inexperienced lawyer (who had specialized in traffic violations) was no match for Ronaldo’s PR mega-machine and legal team, ended up settling with them for $ 375,000 on the condition Mayorga not . But Mayorga’s new legal team is disputing that contract and arguing that she was mentally deficient due to trauma from rape, and was not competent enough to make a proper decision at the time.

They have filed a civil suit on Mayorga’s behalf and the case has since been re-opened by the Las Vegas police. In Nevada, the statute of limitations has not expired for this crime. Mayorga has not only suffered physically (the hospital documented her injuries in a rape kit when she reported the crime), but she continues to suffer from that trauma to this day and—according to her lawyer—is in “active therapy.”

Ronaldo initially called the allegations “fake news” and insinuated that Mayorga was trying to get famous using his name. I have worked with survivors of violence and have yet to meet or know of a victim who has enjoyed any of the bullying, shame, societal isolation and mental health upheavals, and wanted to claim some type of infamy from an attack. And I won’t even dignify the ridiculous notion of “false accusations.”

Writing about rape culture in the soccer world is a struggle. Before the 2015 UEFA Championships, I heard about allegations against Spanish goalkeeper and Manchester United star David De Gea, who was implicated in a horrible rape case. I pitched that piece to at least ten different outlets and no one was interested in publishing it and paying me for my work. Thankfully, I found it a home at a soccer site entirely run by women. And they backed me up when the online harassment started to descend. I have only tweeted about Ronaldo thus far and the responses to my tweets have been violent and angry—presumably from Ronaldo supporters. Another indication of the hatred casually flung at women for speaking up.

Mayorga’s attorney has said that she was enabled by hearing survivors in the #MeToo movement disclose their own stories. There is a strong tide of women speaking up courageously, slowly washing away the impunity often enjoyed by powerful misogynists and abusers. Perhaps #MeToo has finally transcended into the realm of sports, a realm where it is desperately needed. With cases like Patrick Kane, Kobe Bryant and Baylor University’s football team, and other men who rarely face consequences for their actions, it is needed now more than ever.

Predictably, the same sports media who initially had no interest in this story have become “experts” in criminal law, and on sexualized violence. The vacuous reporting and unnecessary reflections are mostly done by men, and center the 33-year-old star. Opinions on due process (reminder: it’s a legal system not a justice system) and about Ronaldo’s athletic prowess and teams don’t have anything to do with this case in which he is accused of anally raping a woman, who by his own accord, told him “no.”

The way that these stories are reported by sports journalists who have little or no training in reporting accurately on sexualized violence can be re-traumatizing for many survivors. Instead of investing in proper media tool kits compiled by advocates for victims of violence (all free), editors unleash a bevy of unhelpful pieces that contribute to an unhealthy society steeped in rape apologism. On that night in 2009, Mayorga was dancing with Ronaldo. Does that mean she invited rape? No. These outlets are complicit in the way that victim blaming and shaming become part of natural discourse when rape is reported.

Then there is the sexist sports establishment itself. Since the most recent news broke out, the predictably irrelevant statements of solidarity from Ronaldo’s supporters have emerged. His current team Juventus FC tweeted out nonsensically reminding Twitter that Ronaldo has conducted himself with “professionalism” and “dedication.” The issue at hand is not whether he is a “champion.” How Ronaldo performs on the pitch is not correlated to the fact that he may have brutally violated a woman. The issues must not be conflated.

Ronaldo was left off of the Portuguese national team roster for upcoming international matches—but not because the Portuguese football federation felt it necessary to exclude him from the squad for being charged with a violent crime. They somehow managed to explain this decision while singing his praises. Portugal national men’s coach Fernando Santos said in a news conference on Thursday, “[Federation] president Fernando Gomes and I spoke with Cristiano Ronaldo and we considered it best for the player not to be included in this and November’s call-ups.

He went on to wax poetic about the alleged rapist: “I personally always support my players, and this is not even a question of solidarity, but I believe what the player said publicly. He considers rape to be an abominable crime and clearly reaffirms that he is innocent of what he is being accused of. I know Cristiano well and I fully believe he would not commit a crime like that.”

How nice for Ronaldo for people to believe him because he works hard and people are familiar with his persona. And while Nike and EA Games, two of Ronaldo’s major corporate sponsors, are “concerned” with the allegations, it is not enough to have them pull their money away—even though Ronaldo allegedly used sponsorship money to settle with Mayorga in 2009. The reluctance to cut ties with a powerful athlete underlines that the dignity of a woman is not worth sacrificing profits from soccer cleats.

#MeToo has yet to be championed the way that alleged rapists are.
