Glenn Close Wins Best Actress SAG Award For ‘The Wife’ After ‘Fatal Attraction’ Reunion With Michael Douglas

Glenn Close and Michael Douglas presented last night at the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) shortly before she accepted the best actress award for The Wife. It was a fascinating Fatal Attraction reunion and highlighted how things in Hollywood are beginning to shift for older actors. Douglas and Close took the nation by storm with the psychological thriller that showed Close as a dangerous and unhinged jilted, woman who couldn’t let Douglas go after the two had a casual affair. Seeing the two present together reinforced how roles are not only opening for older actors and actresses but how well-received they are. Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin were both nominated for their performances in the Netflix series The Kominsky Method.

Glenn Close is a seven-time Academy Award-nominated actress yet hasn’t won the Oscar yet. Fans are hoping this year proves to be the time Close brings the gold statue home. After many wins this award season, things are looking up for Close and there are high expectations she wins.

To date, Close has won the Broadcast Film Critics’ Association Award, Golden Globe, SAG Award, Palm Springs International Film Festival Award, Satellite Award, the Capri Actress Award, Hollywood Film Award, New Mexico Film Critics’ Award, and the San Diego Film Critics’ Society Award.

There is no doubt that winning the Oscar for her role as Joan Castleman would be a career-defining moment for Close and her fans.

During Glenn Close’s acceptance speech for winning the best actress SAG award, she made some remarks about the importance of making eye connection through films.

You may hear her speech in the video player below.

“I… one of the most powerful things that we have as human beings are two eyes looking into two eyes, and film is the only art form that allows us the close-up, and it substitutes for real life, two eyes looking into two eyes. And I think we have to remember how powerful that is in a world that is consumed with different size screens; that the power that we have are two human eyes looking into two other eyes. That will give us empathy and understanding.”

Glenn Close is known for her remarkable characters and performances and it’s no wonder why she reaches so many people. With her focus and emphasis on creating empathy through storytelling, there is no doubt that she truly is a master of her craft.

What do you think? Should Gleen Close follow the SAG Awards with an Oscar win? She is up against

Two brands that are all about the communal — zero-waste fashion label Livari and WeWork are teaming for a multipurpose party.
Aimed at using the art of fashion as a medium for activism, New York-based Livari is launching its Collaboration Collection Nov. 27 at WeWork’s Times Square location. Jada Pinkett Smith And Actress Leah Remini Squash Scientology Beef

Jada Pinkett Smith, 47, and Leah Remini, 48, set aside their differences in an upcoming episode of Facebook Watch series Red Table Talk.

The two women have ended their year-long feud after over their Scientology beliefs. The drama started when Remini told The Daily Beast that Jada was “in” when it came to the church and was a regular at the “Celebrity Centre” in Los Angeles, per toofab.com.

“I know Jada’s in. I know Jada’s in. She’s been in Scientology a long time,” Remini said in an interview last year. “I never saw Will there, but I saw Jada at the Celebrity Centre. They opened up a Scientology school, and have since closed it. But Jada, I had seen her at the Scientology Celebrity Centre all the time.”

At the same, Jada clapped back on Twitter, saying:

“I recently lit Shabbat candles with Rabbi Bentley at Temple Sinai… but I am not Jewish,” she tweeted. “I have prayed in mosques all over the world… but I am not a Muslim; I have read the Bhagavad Gita… but I am not a Hindu; I have chanted and meditated in some of the most magnificent temples on earth… but I am not a Buddhist; and I have studied Dianetics, and appreciate the merits of Study Tech… but I am not a Scientologist.”

“I practice human kindness, and I believe that we each have the right to determine what we are and what we are not,” she added. “NO ONE ELSE can hold that power.”

But now, Pinkett Smith tells PEOPLE: “What was really emotional about it was realizing that there was two broken little girls in us that were abandoned by their fathers and turned into fighters who clashed.”

The actresses hashed out their differences while filming an episode of Jada’s popular online talk show.

“It was really beautiful and she reached out to me,” Smith told PEOPLE. “She was much more bigger than me in that way. It was nice to reconnect and release ourselves from all that nonsense that doesn’t matter.”

“You have to treat people with kindness because you don’t know what they’re going through,” she continued. “When she told me her story, I had so much more compassion and it reiterated the necessity to just be gentle and kind because we’re all f–king devastated.”

Remini left the church in 2013 and has since been spilling the tea about the organization in her Emmy-winning docuseries “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.”

The new season of “Red Table Talk” premieres Oct. 22 on Facebook Watch. New episodes drop every Monday.
