Mel B agrees to pay nanny she called a ‘prostitute’ £1.8m to stop tell-all trial

MEL B is to pay her former nanny £1.8million for calling her a prostitute, it was reported last night.

The former Spice Girl agreed to the out-of-court settlement to stop Lorraine Gilles’ defamation claim.

Had the case gone ahead, embarrassing details of Mel B’s bisexual romps and her troubled relationship with ex-husband Stephen Belafonte would have been laid bare in court.

It follows a two-year legal battle after which both sides agreed that “keeping the matter under wraps was best for all”.

Mel, 43, had branded Lorraine a prostitute in her divorce declaration against her ex-husband.

She alleged both of them coerced her into threesomes and accused her ex-husband of getting the nanny into threesomes.

The pair denied the allegations.

But the singer was facing legal costs and damages of up to £5million if she lost the case.

The deal also means Mel’s celeb pals — such as Geri Horner and Heidi Klum — will not be called to give evidence at the Los Angeles Superior Court. And the Leeds-born star will not have to face her ex-husband, 43, after their bitter split.

A source said: “The last thing she wanted was the rest of the band on the stand being probed all about her sex life.”

It will calm tensions between Mel and Spice Girl Geri after it emerged that they once enjoyed a night of passion together.

Mel was said to have embarrassed married mum-of-two Geri by telling all on TV last month.

Netflix agrees to remove controversial footage from ‘Bird Box’

TwitterFacebook

Nearly three months afters its streaming debut, Bird Box is getting an edit.

Following public backlash, Netflix has confirmed to Mashable that it will re-release Bird Box in the “next few weeks” — this time without the use of a controversial clip.

The new version of Bird Box will remove stock footage used in one of the film’s establishing apocalypse sequences, the contents of which depict the very real aftermath of the Lac-Mégantic rail disaster. The tragedy killed 47 people and destroyed much of the town.

“Netflix and the filmmakers of Bird Box have decided to replace the clip,” a Netflix spokesperson told Mashable. “We’re sorry for any pain caused to the Lac-Mégantic community.” Read more…

Daniel Murphy agrees to two-year, $24 million deal with Colorado Rockies

Veteran infielder Daniel Murphy has agreed in principle to a deal with the Colorado Rockies, according to multiple reports. The deal is for two years and $ 24 million, as first reported by Yahoo Sports. Murphy has spent the bulk of his career at second base, where the Rockies are looking to replace fellow free agent DJ LeMahieu. But Murphy is expected to play mostly at first base for Colorado. After two outstanding seasons with the Nationals, Murphy, who turns 34 in April, was traded to the playoff-contending Chicago Cubs three weeks after last season’s non-waiver deadline for Class A infielder Andruw Monasterio and a player to be named or cash. A three-time All-Star who finished second in 2016 National League MVP voting, Murphy missed the first 64 games of last season while recovering from microfracture surgery on his right knee in October 2017. He batted .340 after the All-Star break, ranking 10th in the majors, when he was traded to the…
