Google Parent Alphabet Q3 Profit Rises, But Sales Miss View; Stock Down

Alphabet Inc. (GOOG, GOOGL), the parent company of Google, Thursday reported a surge in profit for the third quarter, driven largely revenue growth in search and advertising.
