Nude Pictures of Kendall Jenner Riding a Horse And Running Along a Beach Leak Online

Andreas Rentz

If your internet is running at a slow crawl this morning, blame leaked pictures of a nude Kendall Jenner horse riding on the beach and sprinting naked along the same shoreline, which have been shared millions of times on social media networks.

The 22-year old model is wearing absolutely nothing in the two photographs to have surfaced online, and TMZ reports they have been “stolen from photographer Russell James without permission.”

Stolen they may be, but the timing is excellent.

Best Beach Books And The Towns They’re Based In

Are you someone that enjoys sitting back with a good book at the beach? It’s pretty relaxing lying there with the sun shining down on you as you escape into a brilliant new world. Of course, what’s better than reading a book at the beach? Reading a book that’s set at the beach. If you’re looking for somewhere sunny to spend your next vacation, the places featured in these great reads might be the best place to visit.

French Riviera (Bonjour Tristesse)

“Bonjour Tristesse” has been around for quite a while now. It was written back in the ‘50s, making it a classic by today’s standard. Centered around a teenager enjoying summer in the French Riviera, it’s a story full of love, revenge and betrayal – a true drama. It was considered a bit raunchy when it was first released, but it’s no “Fifty Shades of Grey.” The French Riviera is not only the perfect setting for the story, but it’s also a great place to enjoy the book. There’s nowhere more elegant to sit by the coast and enjoy the juicy story.

Australia (The Bodysurfers)

Robert Drewe is a big name in Australia, and after reading his work, it’s clear to see why. “The Bodysurfers,” which is a collection of short stories set on the country’s glorious coastline, recreates the breathtaking landscape perfectly. You’d never need to visit the country to know what it’s like to chill out on the beaches there, but you absolutely should. You can learn about the happenings of the Lang family all while soaking up the golden sun. What could be more perfect?

Rodanthe (Nights in Rodanthe)

Nicholas Sparks is pretty much the king of the modern-day romance novel. Loads of his works have been turned into films, and they’ve all done pretty well for themselves. One of the author’s best is “Nights in Rodanthe,” which follows two divorced singletons as they fall in love on vacation. Their romance is rocked by the realization that going home will mean having to leave each other, and is partly inspired by real-life events. As the title suggests, the story takes place in Rodanthe, a town in North Carolina. The coastal location has a very small community, so it’s ideal if you want some peace and quiet to enjoy your book.

Martha’s Vineyard (The Identicals)

As a New York Times bestselling author, Elin Hilderbrand knows a thing or two about writing. Her book “The Identicals” proves that. Set around Massachusetts, the novel explores the relationship between two twin sisters. Although their differences broke them apart over the years, they’re forced to face their issues when a family crisis brings them together. As with Sparks’ novel, “The Identicals” borrows elements from Hilderbrand’s own life, including the use of twins and the setting of Martha’s Vineyard. The island is a popular destination in the summer, with its population more than quadrupling on a yearly basis. People can’t get enough of all the coastal opportunities on offer.

Florida/Cuba (The Old Man and the Sea)

Ernest Hemmingway is one of the most respected writers of his generation. He’s given us many great works, including the short novel “The Old Man and the Sea.” As the story is about a fisherman, part of the book is set out to sea, most notably in the Florida Straits. The areas near this stretch of water like Fort Lauderdale and Fort Pierce make for great vacation spots, although you can’t pass up the chance to visit Cuba either. You’re sure to be engrossed in the story of Santiago and his quest for a large marlin as you enjoy the intense Cuban heat.

There’s nothing like escaping into another world thanks to a good book, especially when it’s set somewhere in real life. Not only do these coastal reads offer us a great story to get engrossed in, but they also give us fantastic inspiration for our next vacation.

Huntington Beach Welcomes Women’s Championship Tour for Vans US Open of Surfing

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif./USA (Friday, July 27, 2018) – The Vans US Open of Surfing presented by Swatch welcomes back the world’s best surfers starting Monday, July 30 through August 5, 2018 as they compete in Stop No. 7 of 10 of the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT).

The Vans US Open will play a critical role in the 2018 WSL World Title race, which is currently led by six-time WSL Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS). The Australian now wears the Jeep Leader Jersey after her win at the Corona Open J-Bay earlier this month. Gilmore has yet to claim a CT win in Surf City but will look for a strong start in her opening heat against last year’s event winner Sage Erickson (USA) and the event wildcard, who will be determined by a one-heat trials event.

“Huntington is a totally different venue to the rest of the year and I’ve always struggled a bit, but I feel good heading into it,” said Gilmore. “I feel excited about the current ratings and the processes I’m going through. All the girls are ripping so, it’s just about staying focused and making sure I’m investing all my energy into each heat. I feel like I can get a good result. I just have to really apply myself there.”

Lakey Peterson (USA), 2012 event winner, returns home to California for this event. The surfer from Santa Barbara, California sits just behind Gilmore in second place on the Jeep Leaderboard, hungry for her first World Title. She will be up against Coco Ho (HAW) and injury replacement Pauline Ado (FRA) in Round 1.

“It’ll be nice to be home for a minute and get that crowd support behind you,” Peterson said. “We’ve been in Australia, which has a lot of Aussie support there, and Bianca (Buitendag) had that support in South Africa, so that’ll be great to have that kind of hometown support. I’ve done well at Huntington Beach in the past so I think it’s a great opportunity to keep chipping away at Steph (Gilmore). I’m just looking forward to some time at home and getting the jersey on while there.”

16-year-old rookie Caroline Marks (USA) will also be one to watch in Huntington Beach next week. Earlier this year, Marks made history as the youngest surfer to ever qualify for the elite Championship Tour. Now, with more than half the season complete and currently sitting at World No. 7 on the Jeep Leaderboard, Marks hopes to continue her previous success in Huntington Beach and earn a big result in her rookie debut. Marks will be up against Australians Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS) and Bronte Macaulay (AUS) when competition commences.

“The US Open is a different event because there are so many competitive surfing events on display,” said Marks. “There is the men’s and women’s juniors, our CT event, and even a big men’s QS event, so everyone is there together and cheering each other on. It’s really cool. I grew up competing at Huntington through all the amateur and junior events, and I’ve had a lot of success there. That gives me a lot of confidence heading into the CT event. I’m just excited to have my family there, it’s been a long year on the road so it’s a perfect time to be home for a few months.”

Facing ongoing health issues from contracting Influenza A during the Corona Open J-Bay, Tyler Wright (AUS) has withdrawn from next week’s Vans US Open of Surfing. The Australian is the reigning World Champion and currently ranked No. 5 on the Jeep Leaderboard.

“Unfortunately I will be withdrawing from Vans US Open of Surfing,” said Wright. “I’m still recovering from Influenza A. I’m home with the doggos getting better, but still a long way from full strength. Thanks to everyone for the continued support.”

Stepping in for Wright will be fellow Australian, Macy Callaghan. The 20-year-old is currently ranked No. 9 on the WSL Qualifying Series (QS) and competed at the Corona Open J-Bay earlier this month, where she lost to Frenchwoman Johanne Defay in Round 2.

Brazilian Silvana Lima has also withdrawn from the US Open after sustaining a knee injury in Round 1 of the Corona Open J-Bay. Although Lima powered through the rest of her heat, she was unable to finish the event. She will be replaced by former WSL CT surfer Ado.

The Huntington Beach waves will also feature the WSL Men’s Qualifying Series event, the men’s and women’s WSL Pro Junior events, the first-ever all women’s Vans Duct Tape Invitational longboarding competition, and the annual Vans Stoke-O-Rama, bringing local Huntington Beach youth together for friendly surf and beach activities.

Starting Monday, July 30, the Vans US Open of Surfing presented by Swatch will be broadcast LIVE on the WSL’s Facebook page, WorldSurfLeague.com, and the WSL app. Also, check local listings for coverage from the WSL’s broadcast partners.

Surfline, forecast partner of the WSL, is calling for:

The first several days of the event window are looking relatively slow with a minor blend of Southern Hemisphere swells and local NWwindswell on offer. Heading through the end of next week into the final weekend of the event window we anticipate a slightly better mix of new SSW swell and NW windswell.

Vans US Open of Surfing Women’s CT Round 1 Matchups:
Heat 1: Carissa Moore (HAW), Nikki Van Dijk (AUS), Courtney Conlogue (USA)
Heat 2: Johanne Defay (FRA), Keely Andrew (AUS), Paige Hareb (NZL)
Heat 3: Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), Sage Erickson (USA), TBD
Heat 4: Lakey Peterson (USA), Coco Ho (HAW), Pauline Ado (FRA)
Heat 5: Tatiana Weston-Webb (BRA), Malia Manuel (HAW), Macy Callaghan (AUS)
Heat 6: Caroline Marks (USA), Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS), Bronte Macaulay (AUS)

Celebrates Successful Benefit Party and Beach Fest 14th Annual Event Raised Over $250,000 for Local Youth Organizations

PRESS RELEASE

July 5th, 2018 – San Diego, CA – On Saturday, June 30th, Grammy-winning rock band SWITCHFOOT celebrated the 14th annual SWITCHFOOT BRO-AM at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, CA. The annual community celebration and charity event gathered over 15,000people for the free Beach Fest and Surf Contest, which raised over $ 250,000 to benefit local youth initiatives through VH1 Save the Music Foundation, Feeding San Diego, Challenged Athletes Foundation, A Step Beyond, StandUp for Kids, and Rob Machado Foundation. Since the inaugural BRO-AM in 2005, the event has raised over 1.8 million dollars for San Diego youth programs impacting homeless, at-risk and disadvantaged kids.

The beachfront concert included performances from SWITCHFOOT, Colony House, Sure Sure, 91X Battle for the BRO-AMwinner Inspired And The Sleep, and a very special appearance by local youth musicians from VH1 Save The Music Foundationwho performed on stage with SWITCHFOOT.

In addition to charitable giving and musical performances, the diverse and exciting event included a variety of surf contests. Team Surfin Fire, which included professional surfer Damien Hobgood, took the win for the BRO-AM Team Surf Contest, where a four person team competes riding one wave regular and one wave switch (keeping it more “bro” than pro). Other competitors included three time world champion Tom Curren, world renowned local surf legend Rob Machado and other professional surfers such as Josh Kerr, Timmy Curran, Yadin Nicol, Brett Simpson along with numerous up and coming young surf stars.  The CAF Elite Surf Team took third place showcasing that their physical challenges don’t hold them back from competing with the best. The winner of the Rob Machado Bro Junior Surf Contest, a contest that judges kids on who has the most fun, was Toby Dussalt.  One of the most inspirational moments of the day is the Challenged Athletes Foundation Kids’ Adaptive Surf Series where kids with physical challenges are given the opportunity to compete with surfers from the team contest supporting them in the water and thousands of spectators cheering them on.  First place went to  Landis Sims. BRO-AM’s surf events wrapped with the hilarious Surf Joust Expression Session, complete with battle armor and nerf weapons on soft surfboards, with Kieran Anderson taking home the top prize.

Over 200 volunteers supported the event with many of them participating in waste diversion efforts to educate attendees on proper sorting of compost, recycle and landfill in partnership with the City of Encinitas and the Solana Center (a local environmental innovation organization).  BRO-AM uses solar energy to power their stage and sound avoiding approximately 1400 lbs of CO2.  And partnering with the Rob Machado Foundation, free refills of cold filtered water were provided to all attendees to host an event free of single-use plastic water bottles.

The BRO-AM kicked off with the BRO-AM Benefit Party hosted by Viasat on Thursday, June 28th, gathering philanthropists and friends for an evening of local food and drinks, silent/live auctions and live performances.

“The BRO-AM is bigger than a rock band trying to do some good.  It’s a community of givers and doers who know that collaboration produces exponential impact.  It’s the idea that giving can be fun and meaningful.  It’s incredible to see our dream become bigger than we could’ve imagined.  Surfing, music, raising funds for the next generation.” – Jon Foreman

In 2005, after traveling the world, SWITCHFOOT dreamed up an idea to give back to their hometown that supported them as both surfers and musicians, to rally their great community and to invest in kids who might need a hand up. Fourteen years later, the BRO-AM has grown in impact and size gathering over 17,000 people to the beach for   surf contests, free beach concert and numerous vendor booths. The SWITCHFOOT BRO-AM Foundation grants focus on initiatives that create a thriving future – Physical and community well being along with opportunity and empowerment through music, art, surfing and education.

Beyond their career achievements and creation of BRO-AM, SWITCHFOOT has also maintained a deep commitment to a variety of humanitarian causes, lending their support to such worthy organizations as Food for the Hungry, CURE International, DATA, the ONE Campaign, Habitat for Humanity, and To Write Love on Her Arms.

When it comes to swimsuit cover-ups, sarongs are near the top of the list. The wrappable pieces often give off tropical vibes thanks to floral or palm prints making them even more appropriate. But you don’t have to invest your summer cash in a bunch of sarongs you’ll never use inland.

Wrap skirts are sarongs’ more versatile cousins and they’ll see some heavy rotation in your wardrobe this season. That’s because the skirts can serve as cover-ups or just your daily bottoms teamed with a basic white tee, tank or frilly blouse. And they come in more varieties than those themed sarongs. Feeling sporty? Look for a wrap skirt that resembles a tennis skirt. Got a big date? Opt for a flamenco-inspired take complete with ruffles. Or take the trend with you to the office with semi-conservative versions HR won’t object to.

Whatever your summer plans, wrap skirts have got you covered. Shop 19 of our favorites above and spend that extra sarong money on a cute one-piece or oversized straw hat.

Queer Eye Season 2 Couple William and Shannan Get Married in Intimate Sunrise Beach Ceremony

They got engaged on season 2 of Netflix’s hit show Queer Eye. And now, William Mahnken and Shannan Eller have officially walked down the aisle and said their “I dos.”

The couple, who appeared on the episode titled “A Decent Proposal,” got married on June 13 in a sunrise beach ceremony in Amelia Island, Florida.

Mahnken — who was made-ver by Fab 5 members Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk, and Antoni Porowski on the show — shared a photo of he and his new wife to Instagram on Saturday, calling her his “best friend.”

Though the Queer Eye boys helped Mahnken with his proposal, neither of them were able to make it for their big day. Mahnken said in his caption that he and Eller had a “small, private ceremony” which was officiated by friend Deborah Ramey.”

The official Queer Eye Instagram account also shared a photo from the wedding.

“Congratulations William and Shannan!” they wrote in their caption. “Thank you for letting us be a part of your love story and we hope that the next phase of your life is filled with love, movies, and a lot of avocado goddess! We Shannan you both.”

That last line was a callback to Mahnken’s proposal, which was seen on the show. He had taken his then-girlfriend to an outdoor movie screening where he surprised her with a humorous and tender homemade video, filmed as he struggled to come up with a new word to describe the love he had for her.

In the end, Mahnken found the perfect word for Eller and surprised her with it when he proposed: “Shannon.”

This isn’t the first time the Fab 5’s intervention has lead to a couple tying the knot.

In season 1, they helped Tom Jackson rekindle his romance with ex-wife Abby Parr, the two marrying in March in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Fellow season 1 subject AJ Brown also revealed during a Netflix “FYSee” event that he married his boyfriend, Andrey.

Both seasons of Queer Eye are currently streaming on Netflix.

4th of July Morning After Mess Beach Cleanup Series Hosted by Surfrider Foundation

WHEN: Thursday, July 5 from 9am-12pm

WHERE: Ocean Beach Pier, Crystal Pier at Pacific Beach, Fiesta Island, and Oceanside Pier

WHAT: Surfrider Foundation San Diego, in partnership with I Love a Clean San Diego & San Diego Coastkeeper, is hosting four separate beach cleanups on the morning of July 5, 2018 to tackle the gigantic mess left behind by the July 4th holiday. We invite the public to help us clean our beaches, and prevent plastic litter from entering our ocean. We aim to show citizens that by switching from single-use items to reusable ones, they can minimize the amount of litter that ends up on our streets, our waterways, our beaches, and ultimately our ocean.

VISUALS

  • Surfrider representatives and volunteers will be onsite at Ocean Beach Pier and Oceanside Pier

  • I Love A Clean San Diego representatives and volunteers will be onsite at Fiesta Island

  • SD Coastkeeper representatives and volunteers will be onsite at Crystal Pier at Pacific Beach

  • Each location will offer excellent photo-ops of 100’s of local citizens doing their part to keep our beaches clean

  • Final tallies and weights of trash collected, along w/ the most interesting items found, make for a great feature

  • Entercom radio staff will be participating at Ocean Beach pier, while Reef staff will be participating at the Oceanside Pier cleanup. Reef is the founding sponsor of Surfrider’s Better Beach Alliance, a collaboration to expand 3 key areas of impact, including # of beach cleanups, trash removal and volunteers.

WHY: At the 2017 Morning After Mess, 400+ volunteers removed over 1,643 lbs of trash from four beaches in only 3 hours. Without these events, a sizeable portion of that trash – most of which is plastic, a non-biodegradable material that is toxic to wildlife and often finds its way into our food chain – could have ended up in the ocean. While our cleanups make a tremendous impact, our true aim is to prevent trash from reaching the beach in the first place. Through successful programs like Rise Above Plastics, Hold Onto Your Butts & Ocean Friendly Restaurants, our organization uses outreach, education and advocacy to eliminate single-use plastics and cigarette butts BEFORE they reach the coast. The Surfrider Foundation’s mission is to protect and enjoy the world’s ocean, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network.

5 books that are perfect for a beach vacation

You count down the days, the hours, the minutes and even the seconds, and then eventually… It’s vacation time! Yep, it’s finally time to pack your swimsuit, leave all of your sweatshirts behind, slather yourself in sun lotion, grab a pina colada, and make your mark on the beach. Although we love nothing more than frolicking on the beach and topping up our tan, we also love to stick our red noses in a good book. But which one do you choose? Here are 5 books that are perfect for a beach vacation…

Into the Water – Paula Hawkins

Okay, we’re gonna level with you, we’re kinda obsessed with thrillers. For some reason, we just can’t get enough of asking us ‘Who Dunnit?’ and Paula Hawkins’ Into The Water is the best thriller to sink your teeth into. Yep, if you want to find yourself on the edge of your beach chair, this book will do just that. After two women are found mysteriously murdered on the edge of the river in the middle of a town that is stuck in its ways, one former resident has to make her way back to the town to learn more about her own story – while uncovering some pretty dark secrets about the town and the deaths.

The Rules Do Not Apply – Ariel Levy

You might already know who Ariel Levy is, as she is a famous journalist-turned-author who has since written down her memoir in this awesome book. The Rules Do Not Apply follows her life after the death of son, and the problems of reaching for too much in life. She will show you that life isn’t always about getting what we want all of the time, and will make you truly appreciate what you have in life. This will be even more important when you realize how lucky you are to be sitting on a beach and drinking margaritas on a Monday afternoon.

The Sleepwalker’s Guide to Dancing – Mira Jacob

If you fancy sinking your teeth into a 512 page-turner, then The Sleepwalker’s Guide to Dancing is definitely for you. This story follows the life of Amina – a thirty-something photographer who finds herself giving up her dream and her life in Seattle to care for her sick father in Albuquerque. Amina soon finds herself revisiting old memories and an old life she tried to forget and understanding a family history she was kept away from. As a poignant reminder of the importance of family, this beach vacation read will fill your heart.

Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine – Gail Honeyman

Gail Honeyman has written a book that you won’t want to put down, which means you might have to rearrange your sunset dinner reservations. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine follows the life of (you guessed it!) Eleanor Oliphant, an accountant from Glasgow who lives a pretty ordinary life. You know, apart from the fact that she lives completely alone with just a weekly pizza and a bottle of spirits for her company. However, she also has a terrible path to contend with – something that soon makes it way up to the surface and disrupts her seemingly perfect life.

The Chalk Artist – Allegra Goodman

After dropping out of college, Colin James finds himself stuck in limbo. Where does he go from here? What does life have in store for him? He eventually finds a job in a local restaurant, waiting tables, and chalking the streets of Massachusetts in his free time. On another side of the city, Nina Lazare is busy teaching her high school students and living in the shadow of her tech-boss father. As the pair find their paths crossing, neither Collin or Nina realize quite how important they will be in each other’s lives. As a realistic depiction of love, class, and companionship, this one will put a smile on your face while you top up your tan on your beach vacation.

Looking for the perfect beach vacation read? Look no further! It’s time to get your book on!

Designer Space: Breezy Beach

A small front room gets a family-friendly, open concept makeover.

CANADIAN HOME TRENDS CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE DESIGN AND LAYOUT?

LORI STEEVES This space is home to a family of four who wanted to transform a small front room into a living and dining space. The space offers a comfortable beach vibe with plenty of storage space and personalized details to really bring the room  to life.

CHT WHAT INSPIRED THE OVERALL DESIGN OF THE SPACE?

LS The starting point for the décor was the homeowners’ treasured antique chaise which we positioned under the large window. The rest of the décor scheme grew from there.

CHT WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT IN THIS SPACE?

LS It was important to the family to include personal details in the space. We designed a family gallery wall that combined family photos and shadow boxes for treasured keepsakes.

CHT HOW DID YOU MAXIMIZE THE STORAGE SPACE IN THIS SMALL ROOM?

LS We employed a few important space saving techniques in this room. We custom built a corner bench in the dining area. It was designed to double as storage space. The coffee table was also custom built and the footstool tucked underneath can double as an extra seat when needed.

CHT WHAT OTHER UNIQUE SOLUTIONS DID YOU UTILIZE IN THIS SPACE?

LS We chose to conceal the TV into the custom millwork above the fireplace. This allows the TV to be hidden out of sight when not in use. – Simply Home Decorating, www.simplyhomedecorating.com

Say What Now? New Jersey Police Officer Caught on Camera Violently Punching a 20-Year-Old Woman for Drinking Beer on the Beach [Video]

A New Jersey police officer is under investigation after a viral video showed him repeatedly hitting a underage woman caught with a beer on the beach during a Memorial Day weekend outing.

via NYDN:

What began as a day of fun in the sun Saturday turned into a beach blanket beatdown after a Wildwood police officer was caught on camera slugging a 20-year-old woman in the head at least three times while trying to handcuff her, according to video of the encounter.

The disturbing clash was caught on a cell phone camera by a woman who had been napping on the Jersey Shore beach before the commotion broke out just feet away. Her video showed the officer straddling the woman in the sand, and wailing away at her head as he ordered her to “stop resisting.”

The woman, who was arrested, and later identified by police as Emily Weinman, cried out, “You’re not allowed to hit me like that!

“I didn’t do anything wrong,” Weinman added, while struggling under the tight grip of two officers.

While KYW-TV in Philadelphia reports Weinman managed to kick an officer in the groin during the arrest, the video does not appear to show it.

Neither the officer who hit Weinman nor another cop that grabbed her legs or a third one who stood by has been identified.

The arrest took place on a beach in the resort city, about 30 miles south of Atlantic City.

Weinman, who lives in Philadelphia, was slapped with a slew of charges, including two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, aggravated assault by spitting bodily fluids at a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, obstruction and minor in possession of alcohol.

The footage was shared on Twitter on Saturday evening, and has since garnered more than 2.3 million views.

“I was sleeping on the beach and I woke up to this,” the video taker said in a post accompanying the footage. “I can’t believe it.”

Weinman, in a Facebook post that has since been removed, said she had been drinking a beer, according to NJ.com. The website said she was approached by officers on the beach around 4 p.m. Weinman said she passed a Breathalyzer test and that cops followed her when she went to make a phone call.

‘I asked them don’t they have something better to do as cops than to stop people for underage drinking on the beach,” the Facebook post said, and that’s when Weinman claims an officer said, “I was gonna let you go but now I’ll write you up.”Weinman said she refused to give the officer her name for the ticket. She said she tripped and fell as she was backing away, and that’s when the officer tackled her.

Weinman turns 21 in September, according to court records.

Weinman pleaded guilty to simple assault and reckless endangerment in November for a 2016 arrest in Philadelphia, records show.

Wildwood Police Chief Robert Regalbuto found the video upsetting, authorities said.

“Chief Regalbuto stated that while he finds this video to be alarming, he does not want to rush to any judgment until having the final results of the investigation,” the department said in a statement posted on Facebook.

The officers involved in the arrest were placed on desk duty pending the results of the internal probe, officials said.

Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano Jr. said the officers were wearing body cameras and when the footage is released, it will show Weinman insulting and spitting at the cops, according to Philly.com.

You can see the footage for yourself below. This is completely unacceptable.

Chesil Beach, Dorset: stark and beautiful, it makes your heart skip a beat

The beauty of the setting for the film On Chesil Beach is born of its rugged and rocky nature. The 18-mile sweep is best enjoyed in bite-size chunks, at its many beachside cafes

The notion of a British “beach” conjures up images of sugary sand between your toes, buckets and spades, deckchairs and jauntily painted beach huts. This, I’m afraid, is not the Chesil (in my experience of living in Dorset, fishermen, hikers and even local stick-throwing dog walkers never talk of “Chesil Beach” but simply “the Chesil”).

Mick Fanning Says Goodbye to the WSL and Winners of 2018 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach

WSL PRESS RELEASE

Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach 2018
2018 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach winners, Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) and Italo Ferreira (BRA). Gilmore claimed her 4th Bell while Italo cliamed his mained Bell and Championship Tour victory.

BELLS BEACH, Victoria/AUS (Thursday, April 5, 2018) – Today, Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) and Italo Ferreira (BRA) won the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, Stop No. 2 on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), after an exciting week of competitive drama, upsets and emotion. The final day of competition ran in clean, five-to-seven foot (1.4 – 2.2 metre) waves at the iconic Bells Beach for its 57th year.

In addition to Gilmore and Ferreira celebrating their wins, three-time WSL Champion Mick Fanning (AUS) celebrated the last Championship Tour event of his competitive career. The four-time Bells winner now says goodbye to elite competition after 17 years on Tour and 22 CT victories. The Australian hero’s story comes full circle as he ends his career in the Finals at the same event where he first won as a wildcard back in 2001.

“Today was really special,” Fanning said. “I always said I wanted to finish the year up here at Bells. Thanks so much to everyone. It has been incredible to see all the support in Torquay and the support of the fans. This is my 20th year of coming down to Bells Beach. I just want to thank my family for all the support you’ve shown over these years. Thank you to my friends that have flown down and making this so memorable. It’s been an amazing career, and I want to thank everyone. ”

3X World Champion Mick Fanning (AUS) heads into retirement from Championship Tour compeition after placing second in the final of the 2018 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach at Bells Beach, VIC, Australia.
3X World Champion Mick Fanning (AUS) heads into retirement from Championship Tour compeition after placing second in the final of the 2018 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach at Bells Beach, VIC, Australia.

“It was a very special moment with the crowd, best friends here, and then to just be in the Final with Italo (Ferreira) and to see how much it meant for him actually made me feel a lot better,” continued Fanning. “To all the people surfing in this event, it was so much fun. Seabass (Sebastian Zietz), Paddy Gudang (Patrick Gudauskas), Wilko (Matt Wilkinson), Owen (Wright) — every time I paddled out, I felt like I was going surfing with a mate, and that was really special. To see in that Final just how much it meant to Italo, that was one of greatest things I’ve seen at Bells, so well done Italo. I am really stoked for you.”

Ferreira played spoiler today for Fanning’s fairytale finish with the first CT win of his career. The 23-year-old was unstoppable throughout the entire event, taking down 2014 WSL Champion Gabriel Medina (BRA) in the Semifinals, Ezekiel Lau (HAW) in the Quarterfinals, and Filipe Toledo (BRA) in Round 3.

“I can’t believe it,” said Ferreira. “That was such a sick heat. I started slow, but after that it was amazing. Mick (Fanning) is one of my favorite surfers in the world. But wow, I can’t believe it. That was unbelievable. I just want to say thank you God and my family and my girlfriend and every guy that has supported me. I’m just so happy that this is my job. I just wanted to make some sick heats. Mick Fanning, he is one of my favorites, he is my hero. Mick is the best competitor, and I just want to say thanks to Mick.”

Italo Ferreira of Brazil won the Rip Curl Pro, Bells Beach, 2018.
Italo Ferreira of Brazil won the Rip Curl Pro, Bells Beach, 2018.

Ferreira’s breakthrough result now vaults him to World No. 1 where he ties with Julian Wilson (AUS) and shares the yellow Jeep Leader Jersey heading into the Margaret River Pro.

“It’s my first win, so I am so happy,” Ferreira continued. “I’ve been working hard over the last few years. I remember my first Final with Filipe (Toledo) in Portugal and it was so close, and now I got it. Last year was hard to me with my injury after the Gold Coast being out for two months. It was terrible, and I just tried to work hard and get better. This is the best feeling.”

Six-time WSL Champion Gilmore earned the right to ring the coveted Bells trophy with her victory in the Rip Curl Women’s Pro. With today’s win, Gilmore joins the likes of Kelly Slater, Mark Richards and Fanning as a four-time Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach winner, a testament to her strength and style in the water.

“It was such an emotional buildup to this moment and it is incredible,” said Gilmore. “I feel like all the focus is on Mick (Fanning), so it doesn’t really matter what happens with the rest of the event — it was like I could sneak in and get a little ding ding and no one would even care, so it took the pressure off. The most stressful moments of my heats were right when Mick was paddling out for his heat, and it eased the pressure seeing how calm and relaxed he was despite all the pressure on him.”

Gilmore’s 27th CT win did not come easy as Tatiana Weston-Webb (HAW) battled until the final buzzer. The hard-fought Final ended with Weston-Webb falling just 0.23 points short of the required score. In her 12 years of competing at Bells, Gilmore has dominated every appearance, with a fifth-place finish being her worst result. The Australian Champion now puts herself in a great position to hunt down her seventh World Title in the yellow Jeep Leader Jersey.

“Tatiana (Weston-Webb) has been on fire this whole event,” continued Gilmore. “All the goofy-footers have been — I can’t believe it. You never really think about the goofies, but with Tatiana, you can tell that she has found her confidence and her strength. It’s so impressive to have her step up.”

Weston-Webb, 21, was the surfer to beat at Bells. She posted the highest scores throughout the event, including a near-perfect 9.23 in Round 2. Her vertical, backhand surfing looked to be invincible, but unfortunately, she could not overtake the 30-year-old veteran. Weston-Webb’s second-place finish moves her up to 5th place on the Jeep Leaderboard, tied with Keely Andrew (AUS).

“Even though I didn’t come away with the win this just feels amazing,” Weston-Webb said. “I love coming to Bells Beach and all of the crowd support is amazing here. I’d like to thank all of the fans that come down so early in the cold. I feel really good, and my boards are amazing. Now the confidence levels are up, and the sky’s the limit. I’m extra proud to be a goofy-foot, especially because Italo (Ferreira) brought one home for us, so thanks Italo. Goofy-footers have definitely had a rough time here at Bells, but I almost got it. Maybe next year.”

2014 WSL Champion Gabriel Medina (BRA) was eliminated by compatriot Ferreira in the second men’s Semifinal. The two Brazilian superstars unleashed radical maneuvers, but Medina could not overcome Ferreira’s heat score of a 16.00. The third place result is Medina’s best finish at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach. He now moves up six places to 7th on the Jeep Rankings.

Patrick Gudauskas (USA) fell to event favorite Fanning in Semifinal 1. The Californian was unable to combat Fanning’s two excellent 8-point rides and exits in Equal 3rd in his first year back on the CT since 2013. This is the 32-year-old’s best result at Bells. Previously, Gudauskas eliminated Michel Bourez (PYF) in the first Quarterfinal.

In only the second event of her rookie year, 16-year-old Caroline Marks (USA) is making a name for herself with stunning results on the elite tour. Marks exits with an incredible 3rd place result after losing to eventual winner Gilmore in the Semifinals. Marks is the youngest surfer to ever qualify for the elite CT and now rockets up to 3rd on the Jeep Leaderboard. Not only is the young competitor ousting World Title contenders in her rookie debut, but she is also making a run for her own World Title in her freshman year on Tour.

En route to her runner-up finish, Weston-Webb dispatched 2009 event winner Silvana Lima (BRA) in the first Semifinal. Despite Lima’s loss today, she was a standout throughout the event with major wins over three-time WSL Champion Carissa Moore (HAW) and two-time WSL Champion Tyler Wright (AUS), and will be rewarded with an eight-spot jump up the rankings to 5th.

The world’s best surfers will now prepare for the Stop No. 3 the 2018 WSL CT and the final event of the Australian leg, the Margaret River Pro, which holds a competitive window from April 11 – 22, 2018.

Maybe that’s a tyrannical boss, or you’re sick of sitting in traffic looking at tail lights. Whatever you’re trying to escape from, we all need a bit of time to ourselves to chill and reflect on why we get up morning after morning and punch in at work. Something many of us do to relieve ourselves of our work stress is yoga and meditation. Why not combine that activity with a vacation? Surely that’s double the relaxation in half the time! That is probably optimistic math, but vacations are relaxing and so is yoga. The SwaSwara Resort in India offers such a trip. People are taking themselves off to India to restore their internal balance with yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda. Ayurveda is a therapeutic process involving aromatherapy and ingesting Indian plant roots that is meant to rebalance your energies. Heading to the retreat to wind down and relax seems like a no-brainer.

What is the aim of the resort?

Discovering where these ancient techniques have originated from and removing yourself from modern living and all of its distractions is part of it. Being at the retreat will allow you to let go of your worries, even grieve if you need to. They ask you to complete a questionnaire and then tailor your experience to what they think will work best for you. That includes relaxation treatments, and they use a doctor to prescribe your Ayurveda diet. The doctor will ask you about your ailments and if you have any aches and pains and then allocate you a program for you to follow. They assess how the five elements in your body are combined, the doctor will figure out how fire, ether, air, water, and earth influence your personality.

Where is it?

Based in a lush landscape, the retreat detaches you from modern life, apart from the air-conditioned rooms there is little trace of the technological world we are trying to escape from. Situated just a stone’s throw away from the Arabian Sea, SwaSwara is an idyllic location to lose yourself in.

An average day

Morning yoga begins early, a little after dawn, allowing you to listen to the sounds of nature around you, influencing you to slow your breathing. Don’t even bother bringing your fancy yoga pants, you will be issued with comfortable loose fitting outfits that breath so much more than those spandex ones. Once you’ve had the morning session you head to a modest and straightforward breakfast with a relaxed attitude, no stressful morning commute required. Your meals are an important part of Ayurveda, so a lot of emphasis is placed upon them while staying at the retreat. Organically sourced and balanced, SwaSwara Resort provides all of your meals. Taking the need to think about what you’ll be eating away further adds to your relaxed state of mind. Farting is encouraged so you may have to get used to the sounds, and smell, if you want to unwind truly. You will bathe in a traditional water tank and receive massage therapy in a full body wind down.

You will finish your vacation so chilled out you’ll forget you have to go home. When you get back, you will have a new outlook on life, and hopefully, you can find inner peace from whatever it was you wanted to escape from.

First Competitors Sent Packing at 2018 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach

WSL PRESS RELEASE

BELLS BEACH, Victoria/AUS (Saturday, March 31, 2018) – Big eliminations swept the second day of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach competition, Stop No. 2 on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT). The male and female competitors took to the main stage at Bells Beach in five-to-eight foot (1.5 -2.4 metre) waves to complete the remaining heats of men’s Round 1, men’s Round 2, and women’s Round 2.

Anticipation was at its peak in the final heat of Round 1 as the retiring, three-time WSL Champion Mick Fanning (AUS) entered the water for the last opening heat of his CT career. The four-time Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach event winner faced Sebastian Zietz (HAW) and 2018 CT Rookie Jesse Mendes (BRA) in Heat 12. Although it wasn’t his most outstanding performance at Bells, Fanning won the heat to progress into Round 3, much to the delight of the record number of adoring fans that lined the shores to cheer on their hero.

“It’s so awesome to have so much support down here at Bells, and to have my family and friends around is great,” said Fanning. “I’m stoked to get through that heat. It definitely wasn’t my best, but it will do for now. I really want to put on a good performance and continue that form throughout the whole competition. Regardless of my result, I’m just stoked to be down here at Bells, one of the most special places I travel to.”

The opening heat of Round 2 saw contender Filipe Toledo (BRA) pitted against local wildcard Carl Wright (AUS) in a battle to avoid the event’s first elimination. Toledo was eager to shake off his Round 1 jitters and find a rhythm in the Bells Bowl. The electric young Brazilian got the nod from the judges with an epic display of rail-surfing to win the heat. Wright will go home with an Equal 25th  finish in his first CT event.

“That was a really close heat,” Toledo said. “I was really nervous. The local wildcards are always so dangerous as they are really familiar with the wave. There is a reason that he [Carl Wright] won the trials. I’m super grateful to advance and look forward to surfing again in Round 3.”

After falling off the CT in 2013, Californian Patrick Gudauskas (USA) has returned to the main stage in 2018. After a 25th place finish at Stop No. 1, Gudauskas was keen to make amends at Bells Beach. Coming up against Kanoa Igarashi (JPN) in Heat 4 of Round 2, Gudauskas looked sharp as he surfed to the sound of a 14.33 total and the heat win.

“It feels really good to advance through to Round 3 at such a special place like Bells,” said Gudauskas. “It reminds me a lot of home and gets me psyched on that cold-surf energy that I love. Surfing Victoria has been helping me out a lot and it’s been great catching up with everyone down here.”

Michael February of South Africa returned to the elite stage at Bells to again replace the injured 11-time WSL Champion Kelly Slater (USA). Unfortunately, February suffered bad luck in his matchup with Frederico Morais (PRT), breaking his board in half and having to swim to the beach to swap his equipment. Once he returned to the lineup, the waves slowed and he never found a solid opportunity. February will get more opportunities this season as he replaces Fanning for the rest of the 2018 season.

Morias will face 2012 WSL Champion Joel Parkinson (AUS) in Round 3 Heat 8. Earlier this morning, the Australian won his Round 1 heat against rookie Wade Carmichael (AUS) and Igarashi. Carmichael won his Round 2 heat over fellow rookie Tomas Hermes (BRA) and will face 2017 event winner Jordy Smith (ZAF) in Round 3.

Following his Round 1 heat against Fanning, Zietz dispatched CT sophomore Ian Gouveia (BRA) to bounce out of Round 2 and back into the event. Shaking off his early morning loss in Round 1, Zietz was on fire the entire heat, posting the first excellent score of the men’s event, an 8.17. Zeitz ended the heat with a two-wave combination of 15.17 (out of a possible 20), which proved unbeatable for Gouveia. Zeitz will now have the unenviable task of taking on Fanning in Round 3 Heat 5.

“I’m stoked that I posted the first excellent score of the men’s event,” Zeitz said. “I was feeling a bit shaky this morning and never felt like I was in control of that heat. I totally re-focussed heading into my Round 2 heat and felt my wave selection was solid. When you get on the right wave, everything else comes to you so hopefully, I can repeat that in Round 3.”

2015 WSL Champion Adriano de Souza (BRA) rarely finds himself in Round 2 matchups but today faced a potential early elimination at the hands of event wildcard Mikey McDonagh (AUS). Former Rip Curl Pro event winner De Souza surfed to his strengths and attacked the lip to take down 16-year-old McDonagh.

“I really love coming here to Bells Beach,” De Souza said. “I have won here before and have great memories of this place and feel really comfortable. The judges are really making us earn big scores, which is awesome as it pushes us to take our surfing to another level. I have been studying the criteria and am working hard to achieve another solid result here at Bells Beach.”

Fellow Brazilians Willian Cardoso, Italo Ferreira and Jesse Mendes will also advance to Round 3 after dispatching Caio Ibelli (BRA), Michael Rodrigues (BRA), and Joan Duru (FRA), respectively.

Following the men’s opening rounds, wildcard Kobie Enright (AUS) upset the competition in women’s Round 2 with a major win over 2017 World Title contender Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS) in Heat 3.

In her professional surfing career, Fitzgibbons has never fallen below 5th place at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach event. Today marked the two-time event winner’s first early elimination ahead of the Final Series in nine years. 18-year-old Enright will advance to Round 3, while 27-year-old Fitzgibbons leaves in 13th place.

“I was going out there just wanting to surf and do my best,” Enright said. “I love this wave and just to be a wildcard in the event is amazing. I am excited to make another heat. There is definitely some pressure. I was in the trials for this event four times before this, so the pressure has chilled out over the years. I am just going out there to surf and have fun.”

Six-time WSL Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) won her elimination Round 2 heat today and did not let Paige Hareb (NZL) disrupt her race for a fourth Bells win. Gilmore has dominated the Rip Curl Pro event throughout her career and has yet to fall below 5th place in her 12 years competing at this event. The 2017 event runner-up will be against Johanne Defay (FRA) and Coco Ho (HAW) in Round 3 when competition resumes.

“The judging scale, you can tell they are really pushing us to go bigger and better,” Gilmore said. “At Snapper, I don’t think I ever scored over a 4 or 5, and my first heat here was a struggle, as well. It feels nice that you can just go for it and get rewarded. Out here at Bells Beach, the judges want clean, solid and complete waves and maneuvers. They want to see you do three solid turns and finish strong. I knew I had to spice it up on the inside section and it worked out.”

Americans Caroline Marks and Sage Erickson lit up the first two elimination rounds with wins against Australians Keely Andrew and Bronte Macaulay, respectively.

Andrew, current World No. 2, was eliminated Round 2 Heat 1 by the 2018 CT Rookie Marks. Earlier this month, Andrew earned a runner-up finish at the first CT event of the season on the Gold Coast but did not find the rhythm at Bells to match her earlier success. Marks, the youngest surfer ever to qualify for the CT, dominated the heat with a 7.33 and 6.33, forcing Andrew to exit in Equal 13th place.

“This is my first time surfing here at Bells Beach, and I absolutely love it,” Marks said. “I came straight here after Snapper and have been surfing a lot, which has helped as it is a tricky wave to understand. I’ve been watching clips of Mark Occhilupo and Bobby Martinez, who were two of the best goofy-footers out here. It’s been really inspiring seeing how they surf this place. I had a really good start to the season at Snapper, which has given me a lot of confidence and making that Round 2 heat has just built on that confidence.”

It has been over 20 years since a Victorian has rung the iconic Bell, and fortunately for Nikki Van Dijk (AUS), there is a chance after defeating injury replacement Macy Callaghan (AUS) in Round 2. Van Dijk will advance to Round 3 where she will surf against Enright and Carissa Moore (HAW).

The final heat of the day was an all-Hawaii affair with Tatiana Weston-Webb (HAW) coming up against current World No. 3 Malia Manuel (HAW). In an intense battle, Manuel fell just one point short of the win and will be eliminated from the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach. A standout from Stop No. 1 on the Gold Coast, Manuel will look to improve her ranking at the Margaret River Pro in Western Australia next month.

Event officials will reconvene at 6:00 a.m. AEDT tomorrow morning for a possible 6:30 a.m. start.

Surfline, WSL forecast partner, is calling for:

Solid SW swell tops out today (Saturday) with overhead to well overhead sets, then easing over Easter Sunday. Favorable offshore wind conditions for the mornings, then turning onshore in the afternoons. More sizable swells stacking up for next week to keep surf elevated, with the next one due Mon/Tues, then another by Thursday the 5th. Possible pulse on the 8th as well. For the most part, conditions next week are looking pretty good (although not so favorable on Monday).

Top Tier Surfers Start of 2018 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach

BELLS BEACH, Victoria/AUS (Tuesday, March 27, 2018) – The second stop on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT) starts tomorrow with the annual Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach competition celebrating its 57th year. As is tradition, the event will run from March 28 to April 8, over the Easter Weekend at one of the world’s most iconic surfing locations.

This year’s event will be bittersweet as it will be the last CT event the three-time WSL Champion, Mick Fanning (AUS), will compete in. The four-time event winner will look to end his competitive career the way that it started in 2001, with a win at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach ringing the coveted Bell. Fanning will match-up with Sebastian Zietz (HAW) and 2018 CT Rookie Jesse Mendes (BRA) in Round 1 Heat 12 when the competition gets underway.

“I really love Bells and how pretty this place is with the cliffs and surroundings,” Fanning said. “I also really love the history of this event and how the traditional landowners have so many amazing stories. There are also so many moments in surfing folklore from this place that it just feels special to be here. I first came here in 1998, and now 20 years later, I’m coming here for my last event — I’ve come full circle. It’s my last event, but definitely not my last time here at Bells, I’ll be surfing here for a long time to come.”

Reigning two-time WSL World Champion John John Florence (HAW) is ready for redemption after his shock Round 2 elimination on the Gold Coast. Florence has never made a Final at Bells but thinks it’s time he gets his name on the most iconic trophy in professional surfing.

“The Bell is probably the most legendary trophy in surfing,” Florence said. “I’d be super excited to ring it, but it’s a hard one to win because a lot of guys seem to have this wave dialed. I do feel at home here. It’s a challenging wave, but I love the raw ocean power and how it’s always changing — it keeps you on your toes.”

Lakey Peterson (USA) comes into the second stop of the 2018 CT as the Jeep Ratings Leader for the first time in her career. After a breakout season in 2017, the 23-year-old has a genuine shot at the title and will be a real threat when competition kicks off at Bells. The fact that the Californian earned a solid 3rd place result at this event last year puts her in a prime position to capture her second CT win of the year and strengthen her World Title campaign.

“My fiancé [Thomas Allan] lives about one minute from here, so I’m enjoying being a half local,” Peterson said. “I’ve been spending a lot of time here recently and have a lot of support crew around me, so I’m really looking forward to the event getting started. This will be my first event in the yellow Jeep Jersey so it feels really special, but at the same time, my goal is to be in the No. 1 spot at the end of the year, so I’m not too focused on what’s happening now.”

Current Jeep Ratings Leader Julian Wilson (AUS) is also fresh off a victory at the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast and is keen to continue his run towards a maiden World Title in 2018. Currently nursing a shoulder injury, the natural-footer is feeling rejuvenated after his recent success at this and eying another win to back-up his early lead.

Jordy Smith (ZAF) has always been a contender at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, finishing 2nd and 3rd multiple times leading up to his commanding win in 2017 in near-perfect conditions. Round 1 will see a 2017 final re-match as Smith takes on last year’s runner-up Caio Ibelli (BRA)and Californian Patrick Gudauskas (USA).

“I’m here to try and go back-to-back,” Smith said “I’m going to do everything I was doing last year, and some. We’ve got an incredible pool of great surfers here, so you need to focus on what you can control and not put too many expectations on yourself. This is a right-hand point like what I grew up surfing, so I feel at home and ready to go. It’s sad to see Mick Fanning go, but he’s done so much for our sport. I really hope I can get a heat with him here. Hopefully, we can meet in the Final.”

Reigning two-time WSL Champion Tyler Wright (AUS) has yet to find success at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach but will be on the hunt in 2018. Known for her aggressive forehand attack, the big open walls of the Bells Bowl suit Wright to a tee. She will be one to watch over the Easter Weekend as she comes up against Malia Manuel (HAW) and Paige Hareb (NZL) in Heat 4 of Round 1.

“Bells Beach is such a special place in surfing, so it’s great to be back,” Wright said. “I love it down here and have so many great memories. I’m feeling really good at the moment and am definitely confident leading into the event. I feel like this wave suits my surfing a lot. Winning the event and ringing the Bell is definitely a massive goal of mine and something I’ve yet to achieve, so I’m definitely putting that as my number one goal this year.”

Courtney Conlogue (USA), the two-time, defending event winner, has withdrawn from the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach event due to a foot injury sustained earlier this month. The 2017 World Title contender will continue to assess her injury in the lead up to the Margaret River Pro next month.

Conlogue will be replaced by Macy Callaghan (AUS), who will make her second appearance as an injury replacement on the 2018 CT. The 2016 World Junior Champion missed out on qualification for the CT by 1 heat at the end of last season and will be keen to make her mark among the world’s best surfers.

11-time WSL Champion Kelly Slater (USA) has also withdrawn from the event as he continues to recover from a foot injury sustained midway through last year. The three-time Bells winner will be replaced by Michael February (ZAF). In addition to this event, February will surf through the rest of the 2018 CT season as a replacement for the outgoing Fanning.

Yesterday, the Trials took place in pumping surf at the Bells Bowl and was taken out by Phillip Island’s Carl Wright (AUS), who after 10 years of attempts has found himself with a spot on the big stage. Kobie Enright (AUS) took out the women’s Trials to surf in her first ever CT event, while young-gun Mikey McDonagh (AUS) took the Rip Curl Trials win for his 2018 event entry.

Event organizers will convene at  8:00 a.m. AEDT to assess the conditions and determine if the Rip Curl Pro will get underway for its opening day.

Surfline, WSL forecast partner, is calling for:

The event window starts off slow, but then a solid SW swell moves in for Fri/Sat, and with favorable conditions for the most part.  More decent size swells stacking up in the longer range.

Thailand’s Maya Bay, location for The Beach, to close to tourists

The bucket-list beach on the island of Koh Phi Phi Leh became famous when it featured in the Leonardo DiCaprio movie, but environmental concerns mean it will close to tourists from June

It is one of the world’s most famous beaches, thanks to its starring role in Danny Boyle’s film of Alex Garland’s bestselling novel, and is often referred to simply as “the beach”. However, this summer Maya Bay, on the Thai island of Koh Phi Phi Leh, will be closed to tourists as authorities attempt to reverse decades of damage done to the region’s marine environment.

The closure will take place from June to September, during the island’s low season, in order to give its coral reef time to recover. While similar measures have been introduced on other Thai islands – in 2016 local authorities closed Koh Tachai – it is the first time tourists will be forbidden from visiting Maya Bay.

Pro Surfing And Manly Beach Set to Continue a Solid Connection in 2018

PRESS RELEASE

Manly, Sydney/NSW  (Friday, December 22, 2017) –  New South Wales is set to remain as one of the strongest legs in professional surfing with the Vissla Sydney Surf Pro, World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) Men’s and Women’s event set to take place at Manly in early 2018.

With 6,000 QS points up for grabs, some of the world’s best surfers will be in attendance as they look to kick off their 2018 campaign in style when the event gets underway from 24 February – 4 March.

Member for Manly MP James Griffin made the announcement yesterday and is thrilled to be able to keep an iconic surfing event on Manly’s shores.

“I’m proud to welcome the Vissla Sydney Surf Pro event to Manly, it will be a fantastic event and I’m delighted that our community will continue to enjoy pro surfing,” said Griffin. “Importantly, not only will the event bring the best international surfers to Manly, but our local junior talent will have an opportunity to shine. I look forward to working with the WSL, Surfing NSW, Destination NSW and Northern Beaches Council to ensure we develop a sustainable event.”

Northern Beaches Council Mayor Michael Regan believes Manly is the perfect natural amphitheatre for the world’s best surfers and wants to see the event remain in the region for the long-term.

“For years, Manly Beach has been one of the jewels in NSW’s crown when it comes to professional surfing events,” said Regan. “We’re proud to have an event of this stature on our iconic beach and will be working closely with local residents and businesses to ensure it stays here for the longstanding future.”

Stepping up their already solid investment into the World Championship Tour qualification pathway is Vissla, who has come onboard as the naming rights sponsor for the event. Vissla’s VP of Global Marketing Vince de la Pena is excited to see a professional event of this stature remain on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and play a vital role in providing a platform to win crucial QS points.

“Manly has such a rich history in professional surfing, being the location of the first world surfing championships back in 1964, so it is an honour to step into this event and help carry on the tradition,” said de la Pena. “Being the second QS6,000 of the year and just prior to the start of the 2018 CT, we expect a red-hot field and we also look forward to introducing some exciting new elements to the event to showcase some of the creativity within the surfing community.”

Surfing NSW CEO Luke Madden echoed similar sentiments and stated that the newly announced Vissla Sydney Pro would bolster the schedule of surfing events that take place in the state early next year.

“Over the last three years we’ve seen an exponential growth of professional and credible surfing events in the state, with the Vissla NSW Surf Series, the World Junior Championships in Kiama and Surfest all attracting a wide array of nationalities to the beautiful NSW coastline,” said Madden. “The Vissla Sydney Surf Pro is the perfect way to finish the NSW professional surfing leg with a bang and we can’t wait to see some of the world’s best when the event lands in Manly next year.”

WSL Australia/Oceania Regional Manager Will Hayden-Smith attributed the launch of the new event to the collaborative efforts of respective stakeholders as well as the local Northern Beaches community.

“WSL are very grateful to Destination NSW, Surfing NSW, Member for Manly James Griffin, Vissla and the Northern Beaches Council and community for throwing their support behind professional surfing,” said Hayden-Smith. “Having back-to-back QS6,000s at Newcastle and Manly in NSW at the start of the year is extremely important for surfers from all over the world in chasing their dreams of qualifying for the WSL Championship Tour. We can’t wait to get back to Manly in 2018 for what is sure to be an exciting event for surfers and surf fans globally.”

In addition to the QS components of the Vissla Sydney Surf Pro, a WSL sanctioned Pro Junior event will also take place on the opening weekend of the 24 – 25 February.

All the NSW professional surfing action gets underway from early January with the World Junior Championships, followed by the Vissla NSW Pro Surf Series, The nudie Australian Boardriders Battle National Final, Surfest and the Vissla Sydney Pro.

The Vissla Sydney Surf Pro will be proudly supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW. The event will also be proudly supported by Vissla, Northern Beaches Council, WSL and Surfing NSW.

The 2018 Vissla Sydney Surf Pro will be held from February 26th  – March 4th. For more information, highlights and images, head to www.worldsurfleague.com and on the WSL App.

Spain decamps to the coast in the summer and life revolves around the chiringuitos where a meal, cold beer or just a break from the sun are what’s needed

Tumbao, a cool spot without pretension and imbued with something of a “Californian-days-of summer” vibe, offers everything anyone might need on a beach, from good company to healthy juice and batidos (shakes), an affordable buffet (€11 a head), and good views of kite-surfers from a supine vantage point on the cushions. In late afternoon, there’s a beach barbecue and the post-swim crowd arrives in search of icy beer, watermelon mojitos and music (there’s nearly always a DJ, often live bands as well). Man Who Shot Terminally Ill Dog and Buried Her at a Beach Is Facing Animal Cruelty Charges

A Virginia man who claims he shot his 15-year-old dog to end her suffering and then buried her at the beach is facing animal cruelty charges, according to a report by 13News Now.

Michael Whalen, a 65-year-old resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia, told the news outlet that his dog Allie had been suffering from Cushing’s disease, which is terminal, for about a year. But when the veterinarian talked about putting her down in February 2016, Whalen tells News 3, he didn’t feel the time was right.

“Allie was not ready. I was not ready. She was still having fun. She wasn’t in ill health. I got her stable on her medication,” he told the outlet.

But Allie’s condition took a turn for the worse in February, when Allie began seizing uncontrollably, according to News 3. “She was not coming out of this,” Whalen told the station.

Allie’s body was found partially buried Feb. 10 with a head wound, according to News 3. The outlet discussed standards and policies to a local veterinarian, who told News 3 that a gunshot wasn’t considered a legal form of euthanasia.

“The options were to sit here and let her do this until she expired, or to put her in the car, which I couldn’t control her and it would have been dangerous for me to drive trying to keep her airway open,” Whalen told The Virginian Pilot.

News 3 reports that Whalen is expected to appear in court in June, and that his attorney George Yates simply felt like his client was acting how anyone would in his situation.

“We feel that he did what a pet owner is required to do,” Yates told the outlet. “Take care of their animal and when their animal is suffering to properly euthanize the animal.”

“It was so emotionally disturbing,” Whalen admitted to News 3. “I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to go through this in my mind and sometimes I’ll just start crying.

“We did everything together. She went everywhere with me. I even took her on a vacation trip one time on my motorcycle,” he added in his interview with News 3. “This was a very sad and painful story, and I did nothing but help my dog leave this world.”

Bethenny Frankel Proves She Has an Eye for Art and Tiny Swimwear at Art Basel Miami Beach

While art collectors from around the world are crowding Miami this week for the annual Art Basel Miami Beach fair, Bethenny Frankel is taking advantage of the empty beach.

The Real Housewives of New York star, 46, flew south for the winter — or a long weekend at least — and has been spotted chilling on the white sand and looking undeniably flawless in a pair of rather tiny bikinis. But the New Yorker has been taking her sunshine with a side of high culture. In addition to posting a beach selfie and a poolside scene on Instagram, she shared a photo of “Bronze Collection,” a trio of sculptures of Sanrio characters including Hello Kitty, My Melody and Miffy, by artist Tom Sachs, which is currently on display at the W Hotel South Beach.

The Skinny Girl founder may very well be hunting for some pieces for a new home. She sold her 3,600-square-foot apartment in Manhattan’s celeb-studded Tribeca neighborhood, which she once shared with ex Jason Hoppy. The home was a sticking point in the former couple’s drawn-out divorce, which was settled in July 2016. The apartment was listed for $ 6.95 with Douglas Elliman realtor — and Frankel’s fellow Bravo star, Fredrik Eklund, who appears on Million Dollar Listing New York — and sold in just one day.

“I sold @bethennyfrankel’s Tribeca loft at 195 Hudson at FULL ASK of $ 6.95M in just ONE DAY,” Eklund writes on a post shared on his Instagram in October, adding, “Congrats, love.”

One other item Frankel had her eye on at Art Basel won’t likely fit in a new NYC apartment, regardless of the square footage. “How abt this ride?” she captions her Instagram post of a rather snazzy white car, outfitted in zig-zags, that she spotted in the Magic City. Her followers on the social media site weren’t quite as enthused. But if any RHONY fans spot these distinctive wheels in Manhattan next week, they’ll certainly know who’s inside.
