Sara Tariq Recaps ‘Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club’: When It’s Just a Mykonos Thing

Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club VIP host Sara Tariq will be recapping exclusively with Us Weekly each week about her opinion on the latest episode. Check back every week for her recap!

Alexa, play “Act Up” by City Girls. This song is a whole mood. You’re welcome.

It’s me, Sara Tariq, back to explain more of my boy drama while I was out in Mykonos. If you’re still trying to figure out why the show revolves so much around it — well, we are in the same boat my friends, because I am too.

The episode starts off with Lindsay Lohan explaining that she just wants us to be happy together and get along … so she puts us on yacht. Sailing through the Mediterranean on a nice-ass boat with unlimited alcohol after all of the emotional turmoil I’ve been dealing with all summer? Sign me up. We were all super excited for this day. All I know is that I wasn’t going to let anything f–k up my vibe because my summer has been everything but smooth sailing thus far. From being called an idiot on television to being blatantly ignored by someone you care about and developed genuine feelings for, in front of his “family”/friends was more than I saw myself getting into prior to signing up for this experience but hey, this is how you party in Mykonos, bitch.

I feel like I finally got to showcase my personality a bit more this episode. I was overshadowed by my Brent drama and relationship the entire season. This is when I started to finally let loose and not have the pressure of walking on eggshells about everything because I was in such a vulnerable place before. But alas, Lindsay thinks I was causing drama when that wasn’t my intention at all. I was just over everything and wanted to have some fun. Cue “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

Why did I kiss Billy? Because he’s cute, duh. Now, do I want to wife him up? Meh, probably not. I mean I kissed Alex too, who’s clearly gay as f–k, but I don’t really care about anything at this point (we all go through that phase after a breakup, right?). So what? I just got out of a relationship and we’re catering to girls/gay clientele every week, not that I prefer pimping myself out to clients, ahem, cc: Brent. But I’m obviously just going with the flow and having fun with it.

I actually do have a soul, though, and I did feel bad for Brent, yet I decided to be a little selfish this day. There’s nothing wrong with that. Sometimes you need to think about yourself before others because self-love is important. Frankly, I feel like you can never have enough and I need more of that for myself — still, to this day.

Shout-out to having real friends, though. Like everyone in the house who had my back and felt for me while second-hand dealing with my bulls–t/questionable decisions. You guys are the true MVPs. Seeing Jonitta stand up for me the way she did in this episode really tugged at my heart. Being there for your homegirl and standing up for women as a whole never gets old and she was truly a class act after everything she had been through while we were out there as well. So thank you for that, J. She’s a real one.

Even though Lindsay hears things through the grapevine and assumes I’m causing drama. I see it all now and I wish I could have explained myself to her more but you guys will just have to have your popcorn ready and tune in to find out how it all unfolds. Maybe I shouldn’t have taken one out of Brent’s handbook of stirring the pot? I thought we were being rewarded for it so I’m just as confused as you. It’s always risky pulling a you on you. So until then, always have respect for yourself, stand up for yourself and stay classy, my friends!

Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club airs on MTV Mondays at 10 p.m. ET.

10 of Europe’s best beach restaurants

There’s nothing like eating freshly-caught fish with the scent of the sea as an accompaniment. Travel writers pick their top beachside restaurants

The menu, like the decor at this family-run oyster cabin, is stripped back: six grades of oysters, red shrimps with mayonnaise, whelks and country paté, accompanied by baskets of bread, and the choice of either rosé or white wine. That’s it. But the views from the garden and the little wooden jetty are cinematic, stretching over the Bay of Arcachon to the monumental Dune du Pilat shimmering on the horizon. Chez Boulan is in a run of shacks down this narrow peninsula, where oyster farmers have been plying their trade for generations, but have in recent years added tables and chairs to their rustic sheds, spruced up their gardens, and thrown open their doors to the fashionable Bordelais who have holiday homes here, and the daytrippers coming over the bay on the ferry. Lunch (around €20 a head) has a funny habit of slipping into sundowners at this place.

The Aussie actor is already working behind-the-scenes on the new blockbuster with director Michael Gracey.

The  film was predicted to be a flop by critics on its release in late 2017.

But it proved a hit  and went on to become the third highest-grossing musical in history.

Jackman opened this week’s Brit Awards with a performance as circus legend PT Barnum after the soundtrack became the biggest selling album of last year on both sides of the Atlantic.

In London to support his leading man, Gracey told The Sun: “When a movie becomes as big a success as this, it’s only natural there is demand for a sequel. So those discussions have started and we are working on one right now.”

It is not yet known if the new film will follow on from the first or  be a prequel.

Jackman is expected to lead the cast but the involvement of his co-stars Michelle Williams, Zac Efron and Keala Settle is unclear.

However, acclaimed songwriting duo Pasek and Paul — behind hits including This Is Me and Never Enough — are likely to return.

Venice’s Bibione beach is the first in Italy to ban smoking

Ban to take effect at the end of May after years of trials and research into air pollution at the Veneto seaside resort

The Venetian seaside resort of Bibione will be the first Italian beach to go completely smoke-free, in a mission to safeguard the environment from discarded cigarette ends and protect visitors from secondhand smoke.

The decision comes after eight years of trials, as part of the Breathe the Sea Air project, which saw an initial smoking ban between the first row of umbrellas to the water’s edge. New measures, to be imposed by the end of May, will include designated smoking areas 300 to 400 metres away from the sea, at the edge of the beach. Details regarding fines and whether e-cigarettes are to be permitted will be published in May.

The Japanese beach that became an Instagram sensation

Chichibuga beach on Shikoku island was barely known until photographs of stunning sunsets started to appear on social media. Now visitors flock to capture images of the fiery sea and skies at dusk

People were running down the beach. Not for exercise but to get into position before the sun slipped below the horizon. I hurried along, swept up by the sense of urgency. Mini tripods were lined up on the sand at the water’s edge, and selfie sticks were held aloft. Groups of friends, silhouetted against the pink sky, were trying to synchronise their star jumps, while women instructed their boyfriends on exactly how to photograph them as they stared into the sea. One woman posed holding her pet dachshund. The entire beach was a mass Instagram shoot.

Newport Beach Launches Shark Detection System Called ‘Clever Buoy’

New Shark Deterrent Technology: “Clever Buoy™ is an autonomous marine monitoring system developed by the Australian company, Smart Marine Systems (SMS).  The system is an ocean monitoring platform that specializes in detecting large marine life using state of the art sonar and identification software systems to relay critical information to authorities responsible for beach safety.” www.sharkmitigation.com

What It Does: Alerts are immediately sent to lifeguards if a shark is detected via the optus network. Marine life is detected by a groundbreaking sonar system that SMS created. Once the shark is detected by the clever buoy, a real-time message is sent.

How the Clever Buoy works and detects sharks.
How the Clever Buoy works and detects sharks.

A More In-Depth Understanding: “The monitoring system is designed to be deployed beyond the surf zone and utilizes multibeam sonar transducers that are mounted on the ocean floor coupled with newly developed detection software to scan for marine life.  The system creates a “virtual net” at the deployment locations and once an object is detected in the area, the software interrogates the target’s swimming pattern to determine the type of object and potential species.

If the target is determined to exhibit shark like movement patterns, information is transmitted to lifeguards within seconds notifying them of the target and the location via a real-time mobile application with automated notifications and warning information.” www.sharkmitigation.com

The Goal: This process is a noninvasive alternative to current shark defense methods worldwide. What makes this method different is its efficiency, it is economical and lastly humane.

Clever Buoys goal by installing this technology into our oceans is to reduce the risk of beachgoers in the water and ultimately protect humans and marine life cohesively.

Permanent Solution? “The stability and robustness of the current Clever Buoy™ platform has been verified to sustainably operate in open ocean conditions 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, autonomously monitoring marine life and alerting the presence of large animals which could be a threat to beach users.” www.sharkmitigation.com

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Make a Quick Outfit Change to Hit the Beach in Australia

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are keeping the beach clean — and looking stylish while doing it!

The couple, who announced Monday that they are expecting their first child, continued the third day of their royal tour by visiting Albert Park Primary School and also the beach in Melbourne, Australia.

Before their final outings of the day, the pair made quick outfit changes from their earlier looks. They did not, however, choose the most practical beach attire.

Meghan, 37, ditched her navy dress and matching suede heels for a black Club Monaco “Miguelina” dress with her trusty black Rothy’s flats — a shoe she has previously switched into during their tour.

She did, however, kept on her Martin Grant trench coat which has been a fashion staple for her during their royal tour.

Meanwhile, Harry, 34, — who matched his wife at their prior events in a navy suit with a white button-down shirt — switched into a pair of black pants and a gray jacket.

The royal ditched his tie and opted to leave his shirt collar buttoned.

The couple first met with student Sustainability Leaders and Waste Warriors at Albert Park Primary School and learned how the sustainability programs are integrated into the curriculum, before being greeted by many of the school’s younger students.

At one stop along the school’s pathway, Harry sweetly asked a group of students — who were lined up outside excitedly squealing, waving, and yelling their names — if this is where they went to school. One child ignored the question and instead, simply told the prince that he resembled their uncle.

Keeping with their sustainable theme, the pair rode public transport to their next stop, hopping on one of Melbourne’s iconic trams for a short ride from the school to South Melbourne Beach.

As they left, onlookers waved from the crowd, while some even stood on top of their roofs across the street to catch a glimpse of the royal couple.

Onboard the tram, the royals interacted with more schoolchildren during the quick ride. A few minutes later, they arrived at the beach where they were welcomed by another large set of excited onlookers.

As they made their way onto the sand, the couple was greeted by volunteers from BeachPatrol and local children from the area for a beach cleanup. The organization dedicates itself to keeping Melbourne’s shores free of litter to reduce the negative impact of litter on the marine environment and food chain as well as provide a safe environment for the public to enjoy their local beach.

During the outing, Harry and Meghan were also introduced to four lifeguards from the beach.

But the couple didn’t stay much longer after that and finally headed back towards land.

After their departure, one teen — who introduced himself as 15-year-old Milo Thompson — said he was especially impressed with the royal couple’s demeanor during his interaction with them on the sand.

“I was expecting to introduce myself and be real proper,” he said of meeting Prince Harry. “But he came and introduced himself and was calm and collected, and paying a lot of attention to us… they’re down-to-earth and fun to be around.”

Earlier in the day, Meghan and Harry met fans in Melbourne, gathered on the grounds of the city’s Royal Botanic Gardens. One lucky young woman even got a giant hug from the prince, causing her to break down in (very happy!) tears.

After greeting fans, Meghan and Harry headed to a reception with local government.

While there, the royal couple was shown several sporting demonstrations, including a student-designed Formula 1 racing project, which gave Meghan a fright during its incredibly loud launch.

“I did not expect that!” she exclaimed of their speedy takeoff while laughing at her own jumpy reaction.

Meanwhile, Harry looked as happy as a child in a toy store, beaming at the cars and laughed at his wife’s startled reaction. “Wasn’t quite expecting that,” he joked to her. Harry even fist-pumped when they were first invited to try the cars.

While the boys showed off their car project, outside the girls showed off their sporting skills. Meghan met with ambassadors from This Girl Can, which is an organization focused on encouraging women to take up sports.

During the outing, Meghan demonstrated her athleticism, tossing around an AFL football and showing off her best hand-passing skills.

They were then treated to a cooking demonstration showcasing native Australian food at a social enterprise restaurant which provides guidance and opportunity to young Aboriginal people who are in need of a fresh start in life.

During the demo led by Executive Chef Greg Hampton, Meghan and Harry were able to taste some fresh herbs from the area.

Tomorrow, the couple will head back to Sydney for the weekend, before making a stop at Frasier Island on Monday.
