Bobby Brown Slams Chris Rock’s ‘Tasteless’ Joke About Whitney’s Drug Use

Bobby Brown was not amused when Chris Rock made time over the weekend to post a tasteless joke about Whitney Houston’s drug use.

Rock shared a meme on social media of the late singer looking anything but enthusiastic about giving an interview. The image read: “Me sitting in a meeting that could’ve been an email,” but the comedian added his own caption: “Hurry up I got crack to smoke.”

Many commenters slammed the joke as “tasteless” and  “trash” and simply “not funny,” but  Brown noted, “During this time of women empowerment you chose to use your time to try and humiliate our QUEEN!!!”

He added, “I thought you was a friend of the family.”

Peep the post below.

Rock ultimately deleted the post.

Bobby and Whitney were married from 1992 to 2007 and had one child together, Bobbi Kristina, who died in 2015, three years after Houston drowned in a bathtub while reportedly acutely intoxicated from cocaine. Bobbi Kristina died in a similar manner to her mother.

Houston, who was 48 when she died, denied using crack cocaine during a 2002 interview with Diane Sawyer.

“I make too much money to ever smoke,” she said. “Let’s get that straight, k? We don’t do crack. We don’t do that. Crack is wack.”

Brown previously blasted Kanye West for paying $ 85,000 to license a photo of Houston’s drug den inside her  Atlanta home for the cover of Pusha-T’s album “Daytona.”

Brown: The Most Underrated Color in Menswear

Seen widely in nature; in everything from soil to wood, animals to human hair, eyes, and skin, brown is a color that naturally evokes rustic settings and connotations. This can promote a homey or cozy feel but it can also sometimes be seen as plain or common. Today, we’re going to do a deep dive on the color brown and discuss why we think it deserves more credit and more attention from men who are seeking to assemble stylish outfits.

History Of Brown

The word has its origins in the old English word brun meaning any dark or dusky shade of color. The first recorded use of this word, at least in writing, was in about the year 1000 CE. The current meaning developed in Middle English throughout the 14th century. Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, the words in other languages for brown are often sourced from brown foods. Commonly, things like coffee or chocolate. Brown has also been used in art since prehistoric times.

cave painting in Lascaux France
Cave painting in Lascaux, France

Speaking in terms of color theory, brown is a composite color made by mixing together red, yellow, and black, or by mixing complementary colors such as blue and orange or red and green. Paintings using a natural clay pigment called umber have been dated to as early as 40,000 BCE. Take for example, the famous cave paintings located in Lascaux, France and the ancient Greeks and Romans produced a reddish-brown ink in a color they called sepia that was sourced from the ink of cuttlefish. It was used commonly by them and can still be found in some art applications even today.

Franciscan Monks Procession

Let’s turn now specifically to brown clothing though sticking with the ancient Romans, first of all. In ancient Rome, brown was associated with the lower classes or the poor. In fact, the term for the plebeians or the urban poor was Pullati, literally meaning “those dressed in brown”. Similarly, monks of the Franciscan Order wore brown robes in the Middle Ages as symbolism for their humility and poverty. For example, Friar Tuck in the Robin Hood myth is often depicted wearing a brown robe and as decreed in a statute put out in 1363, poor English people were required to wear garments made of russet which was a coarse fabric that was often dyed to be a gray brownish shade.

Brown was the color of military uniforms
Brown was the color of military uniforms

All the way through the 19th century, the color brown did retain this connotation of being associated with the lower classes or with workwear. Think for example of the old phrase “No brown in town”, speaking of that phrase though, you don’t have to adhere to it anymore. Also, brown has been a popular color for military uniforms since the late 18th century because of its low cost to produce and it’s good use as camouflage in a wide variety of settings. Examples would include the khaki colored uniforms of the corps of guides in British India in the 1840s, the US military from the Spanish-American war onward, and the German forces in world war II.

Over the course of the 20th century and up to the present day, brown has shed some of its more negative connotations and developed a more positive reputation being associated with things that are natural, healthy, and hearty, and while recent surveys in the United States and Europe indicate that few people list brown as their favorite color, it’s unassuming dependability makes it one of the staples of any true gentleman’s wardrobe.

How To Wear Brown

The simple answer is relatively easily and across a wide spectrum of outfits in the overall scale of formality. With the only real exceptions being black tie and white tie. Brown and its various shades serve as one of the core foundational base colors in any man’s formal wardrobe along with shades of gray and shades of blue. In other words, brown works to ground an outfit complementing various other colors and counterbalancing any particularly bright hues you may be wearing elsewhere.

Brown & Blue

In particular, brown plays nicely with one of the other base colors we mentioned, blue. First of all, orange and blue are opposite of one another on the color wheel, an example of complementary colors. Because brown very often has orange tones in it, it works to complement blue in a similar fashion and secondly, because both brown and blue come in a wide variety of shades, it should be easy for any man to find shades of each color that work well for him.

Brown & Gray

Similarly to how brown pairs well with blue, it can also be paired with the other foundational base color, gray. While it’s a little bit less conventional to pair these two colors together, just make sure that your garments are harmonizing in terms of both formality and seasonality and you’ll be good to go. As an example, some gray flannel trousers paired with a tweed sport coat featuring brown tones would be good base pieces for a winter ensemble.

Brown & Green

One more color with which brown pairs especially well is green. This is likely due to how often you’ll see both of these colors pairing together in nature.

Brown In Different Levels Of Formality

Smart Casual

Classic Khaki Pants
Classic Khaki Pants

Khakis, of course, are a staple of any smart casual wardrobe as are any similarly colored chinos. And while brown shirts are a bit less common, brown sweaters in various shades and styles are also seen a lot in smart casual ensembles.

Moving up to business casual, brown is also a great color for more rustic jackets in fabrics and patterns like wool, tweed, houndstooth, and herringbone. Meanwhile, a shade called tobacco brown is often seen in linen and other lightweight fabrics particularly for summer wear. Also, having a few pairs of medium brown slacks will similarly open up several doors for you in terms of more versatile outfits.

Business Attire

And of course, brown is even making an entry into more formal business settings with things like darker charcoal brown suits such as the one I’m wearing in today’s video and of course, brown accessories abound for all of these different levels of formality. As an example, a brown knit tie or one in grenadine would be smart pieces to have in your wardrobe.

British warm overcoat paired with cognac colored gloves from Fort Belvedere
Sven Raphael Winter wear in shades of brown

Outerwear

Also, brown outerwear including hats, gloves, and overcoats is a great way to stand out in a sea of black and gray. As a personal example, I get a great deal of use out of both my camel hair overcoat and my mustard brown short brim fedora.

Footwear

Oxfords, derbys, loafers, and monk straps are all available in various shades of brown leather, some with red tones as well, and suede can be another good option which you’ll also find in brown.

CONCLUSION

As you can see then, brown is something of an unsung hero in the world of menswear. Almost always present but doing the dependable work of grounding other more flashy colors. Still, we hope that this overview of brown’s versatility will encourage you to give it more thought when assembling your outfits.

Speaking of which, what’s your favorite way to wear and pair brown? Let us know in the comments section below.

Monica Files For Divorce From Shannon Brown

Source: Judy Eddy/WENN.com / WENN

The marriage of R&B singer Monica and former NBA player Shannon Brown appeared on paper to be a romance of lasting passion and connection. However, it appears their union is coming to an end.

TMZ reports:

The singer filed the paperwork earlier this month in Atlanta. Monica and Shannon have a 5-year-old daughter named Laiyah together, and she has 2 sons from a previous relationship with rapper Rocko.

So far there are no details on whether she’s seeking child or spousal support … but we’ve learned Monica was unsuccessful in sealing the divorce docs.

The couple wed in 2010, but there was speculation they were separated in October 2018 … until she shared a loving photo of the 2 together on Instagram. She hasn’t been wearing her ring in Instagram photos for a few weeks though.

Neither Monica or Shannon Brown are speaking publicly about the matter.

The Weekly Reset: Misfits, hash brown nests and a voice for the ages.

It’s Friday. Looking for something to switch up your weekend, or to give you an excuse to relax a little? That’s what the Weekend Reset is for. Each week contributor Tim Johnstone pulls together five things to get your weekend started. Could be something to read or watch, something to eat or listen to, or even something to do. Enjoy the weekend fellas.

BINGE: The Umbrella Academy is not your usual super hero show.

Gerard Way spent years leading the band My Chemical Romance. He apparently also spent years reading comics. He, along with Gabriel Bá authored several volumes of a comic/graphic novella called The Umbrella Academy. Netflix has just release the first season of its limited series. I can’t tell you how or if this differs from the original source material but it seems that Gerard Way is happy with the adaptation. I pretty much loved everything about this. It has a great cast, with a mixture of familiar faces and some terrific newcomers. Ellen Page is just fantastic. And Mary J. Blige shines as she always does. There is terrific music throughout, from classic British Invasion cuts (The Kinks “Picture Book”) to indie rock (“Mary” by Big Thief and “Run Boy Run” by Woodkid) and bigger artists like David Gray and Way himself.  They get so many details right. It’s big. It’s ridiculous. And it’s touching. I yelled out loud, repeatedly and with much astonishment at one point in the 8th episode; Like, really loudly and for an extended period of time. This was repeated in episode 9 and episode 10 as well. There are some truly inspired scenes in this first season, nearly always action oriented, accompanied by a soundtrack that always brings a smile. It is quite the ride.

EAT: Brunch treats with a side of culinary skillz.

Taste of Home Hash brown nests with portobello mushrooms and eggs.

Hash brown nests with portobello mushrooms and eggs. This is a relatively quick and easy dish that is not only something that would work for brunch, but parties as well. Half the reason I’m sharing this is because once you master the hash brown “nest,” (pre-browning is recommended) you can easily adapt this for other ingredients. Use your imagination (as well as whatever you might have in your fridge or pantry) to tweak the recipe. A good example would be using black beans, roasted green chiles and a suitable cheese like sharp cheddar or cojita. You are really only limited by your imagination. Go for it.

DRINK: Get a head start on happy with England’s favorite Summer drink.

It’s light, flavorful and easy to make. This would be a good choice for that brunch you’re going to host where you serve those delicious tater-fungi-cups. Also, you could consider it your fruit dish. So, yeah. Double bonus.

LISTEN: J.S. Ondara’s Tales of America is an absolute gem.

The first time I heard J.S. Ondara’s voice, it stopped me in my tracks. Floating atop the neo-folk arrangements of his new album Tales Of America, his is a voice that reaches out and soars. It is an incredibly expressive tool and it is one that tells stories about the American dream as seen from the outside. Raised in Nairobi, Kenya, Ondara discovered Bob Dylan as a young man and was inspired to do his own thing. His music is timeless, and the production is sparse where it serves the song, which allows Ondara’s voice to take center stage. He has a sense of style that is confident and charming. I’m just completely won over.

I catch a bit of grief at work because I’m still an analog guy. I use pen and paper in as many aspects of my job as I can. I write proposals. I write out contests and content for my daily air shift. I write thank you cards to colleagues and artist managers. I write out marketing and promotion campaigns. I write as much as I can. I do this because my memory has always been a bit shaky and I learned a long time ago that actually writing things down helps my memory. It was years after this realization that I began to see articles on studies that basically backed me up. It might be easier to use any number of keyboards that are in front of us on a daily basis. After Being Released From Custody, Chris Brown Plans To Sue Rape Accuser For Defamation

Paris Fashion Week Menswear - Yohji Yamamoto - Arrivals

Source: Jonathan Rebboah/News Pictures/WENN.com / WENN

Chris Brown was released from a Parisian jail on Tuesday hours after news reports circulated that a woman accused the R&B star of rape. Now, Brown’s lawyer Raphael Chiche, says the singer is gearing up for a lawsuit to clear his name.

“Chris Brown is free. No lawsuits were filed against him,” a tweet from Chiche read. “He vigorously challenges the charges against him. A complaint for slanderous denunciation will be filed tomorrow with the public prosecutor of Paris.”

He later followed it up with the following tweet: “I’m preparing the complaint #ChrisBrown will file against his accuser.”

The story takes a swift turn after it was initially reported that Brown, and two associates were arrested in connection with aggravated rape and drug charges. The arrest stems from a report a 24-year-old woman filed where she claimed she was sexually violated when she returned to the Mandarin Oriental hotel with Brown and a group of friends after a night of partying in a Parisian club. The assault reportedly took place on the evening of January 15 going into January 16.

French authorities had 48-hours to determine whether they will press charges or release him from jail. Brown and his associates who were detained, could have stayed in jail during the duration of the investigation if authorities felt they were a flight risk. According to a statement Chiche made to outlet Entertainment Tonight, the police investigation is still ongoing.

The charges against Chris Brown have not been dropped and investigations are still going on, but Chris Brown has not been sued by prosecution,” Chiche said.

On Tuesday Brown maintained his innocence by posting a now deleted Instagram message, claiming his innocence.

“I WANNA MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR…… THIS IS FALSE AND A WHOLE LOT OF CAP! NNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!! FOR MY DAUGHTER AND MY FAMILY THIS IS SO DISPRESPECTFUL AND IS AGAINST MY CHARACTER AND MORALS!!!!!” Brown wrote.

The case adds to Brown’s long list of legal troubles that he’s sustained over the last 10 years.

How to Wear Brown Shoes & Boots

When assembling outfits, even some otherwise style-savvy men can be unclear on the guidelines for wearing black or brown dress shoes. Hence, this article will elaborate on when and how to wear brown shoes, and highlight how you can combine them with socks and pants. Regularly, sayings such as “no brown in town” or “no brown after six” are mentioned, when in fact things are quite different from when these rules were invented. To understand the basics of Brown Shoes, make sure to:

  1. Watch the Video
  2. Read the article
  3. Check out the infographic at the bottom
  4. Download the free pdf pocket guide & cheat sheet here

History & Evolution of the Rules

If we go back in menswear history, we find that Beau Brummell (1778 – 1840) liked his black, champagne polished leather boots for town wear. Subsequently, leading arbiters such as Comte d’Orsay (1801 – 1852), Hermann Fürst von Pückler-Muskau (1785-1871), Honoré de Balzac (1799 – 1850), Barbey d’Aurevilly (1808 – 1889), and Edward VII (1841 – 1910) followed his example and wore black footwear for formal occasions and in town. During this period, rules along the lines of “no brown in town” or “no brown after six” were very much respected, and ensured people were socially accepted.

Beau Brummel in black boots

Beau Brummel in black boots

By the 1930’s, Edward the Prince of Wales had relaxed some menswear rules, leading to softer materials and bolder colors. He also was a supporter of brown slip-on spectator shoes (the most common type of two-toned shoes)and brown shoes in general. By the 1950’s, even English clothing guides such as Clothes and the Man by Sydney D. Barney advised: “Business and Daywear in town: a lounge jacket with matching waistcoat and trousers with footwear in black or brown, according to the suit.” In this context Barney declares, “Brown shoes with a dark blue suit are undesirable.”

On the other hand, evening dress was still rather formalized; Full Evening Dress with white tie and Dinner Dress both demanded black shoes.

So, you can see, by the 1950’s, the “no brown in town” rule was no longer valid, although black was still the color for evenings.

Three Neapolitans - Three Single Breasted Navy Jackets

Three Neapolitans – Three different pairs of brown shoes

Today, dress codes are much more relaxed than they were in the fifties, and if you’re wearing a well-cut suit, you are likely to be more well-dressed than 90% of the people around you. Even if you wear brown country boots to a restaurant for dinner, chances are that your shoes are still more elegant than many other men — unless it is a respected establishment with a dress code. Many debonair Italians, for example, only wear black dress shoes for funerals, weddings, and formal evening events. Otherwise, they prefer wearing brown leather shoes in varying shades — such as dark brown or tan shoes — especially when paired with blue suits. In Britain, black still holds a certain association with business, at least in more conservative circles. Still, many Englishmen wear more than just black dress shoes for business, with conservative styles like brown oxford shoes becoming increasingly popular.

To be explicitly clear: Today, wearing brown shoes with your outfits is generally acceptable both in the evening and in town. With that said, certain outfits and situations still call for certain footwear; light tan shoes may not be the best option for the evening, and black shoes are imperative for black tie. Remember: just because you can wear brown shoes day and night, doesn’t necessarily mean you should.

When to Wear Brown Shoes

Brown shoes can be worn with almost anything, ranging from blue jeans to cavalry twill and corduroy to flannel, worsteds and tweed. Unlike black, brown leather comes in an endless variety of shades, allowing you to create a distinguished shoe collection that is unique. Here are a few guidelines that you can adopt and adapt as you please – just take a look in the mirror and use your sense of style.

1. Business Suits

For 3-piece or 2-piece business suits, in the following colors, in solid worsteds or flannels, pinstripes or faint windowpanes or Prince of Wales Checks:

  • Black: Simply put, don’t wear a black suit with brown shoes. Black shoes, in a conservative style, work best.
  • Charcoal Grey: We suggest black over any form of brown leather. Dark brown can work, but avoid tan shoes.
  • Mid Grey: Black works, of course, but dark brown or cherry are also suitable colors. Once again, avoid tan.
  • Dark Navy: Black works well with a navy suit, but cordovan, tan, and dark brown can also look magnificent and dashing. Of course, you will stand out visually with light tan shoes and a navy suit — something to bear in mind.
  • Lighter Navy:  Black will often look better than brown, but it ultimately depends on the cloth. With pinstripes, we suggest wearing black shoes and never brown.
  • Dark Brown: Pair a dark brown suit with brown shoes, and skip black altogether.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Since a 3-piece suit is more formal than a 2-piece suit, the heightened formailty of black shoes means they will generally pair better with such outfits. Still, pay attention to the color, as above.
    • If you wear a contrasting double-breasted waistcoat in dove grey or buff, go with black shoes as you will have created a similar ensemble to the formal stroller suit.
    • If you want to play it safe, always choose a shade of brown dress shoes darker than your suit color.
    • Of course, if you are confident enough, you can pair lighter shoe colors with dark suits, but be aware that you will gather more attention that way.
    • Black remains the #1 color for business, so if you’re unsure, stick with black, and if you invest in your first pair of business shoes, go with a black captoe Oxford shoe.
    • If you’re wearing a belt, try to match the color of the shoe to that of the belt. Since there are so many shades of brown leather shoes, your belt doesn’t have to be made of the exact same leather or the same color–just try to match it as closely as possible. If you wear suspenders, you won’t have to worry about this at all!

2. Casual Suits

Bolder patterns, material blends or brushed cotton, corduroy, etc.:

  • Green: Brown every time, for all shades. Avoid black.
  • Khaki: Dark browns work well. Avoid black.
  • Tan: Cordovan, cherry and medium brown are great. Avoid black.
  • White/Off White:  Two-toned shoes, such as brown-and-white spectators, are a dapper choice, but dark brown, mid-brown or reddish brown work as well.
  • Brown: As before, pair brown suits with brown shoes and skip black altogether.

3. Sport Coat / Odd Jacket – Trouser Combination

Fresco, Tweed, Thornproof, Cheviot, Donegal, Flannel, Worsted, Corduroy, Velvet, Cotton, Linen, Gabardine:

  • Black: With black corduroy, tan leather boots (such as chukka boots or desert boots) are a good choice. Black dress pants worn with a sport coat will look best with black shoes, though more casual shoes like black loafers could be a good compromise in terms of formality.
  • Charcoal Grey: We suggest black over any form of brown. Dark brown can work, but avoid tan.
  • Mid Grey: Black works, but dark brown and cherry are also good colors. Avoid tan shoes.
  • Blue: All kinds of brown men’s dress shoes can be worn with blue colors – cordovan, tan and dark brown can look especially smart. As before, you will garner more attention with a light tan shoe.
  • Denim: Basically, all kinds of brown leather shoes work well, even with black jeans (similar to the corduroy example above). Tan and cordovan oxblood will serve you well here. Leather boots are a natural pair for jeans, though anything with a higher ankle would naturally interfere with skinny jeans (not that we necessarily advocate for such a style)!

  • Red:   All shades of brown work well, though reddish brown can look a bit too deliberate. Dark brown and tan are good choices
  • Green: As before, try wearing brown every time, for all shades. Avoid black.
  • Khaki: Dark browns work well. Avoid black.
  • Tan: Cordovan, cherry and mid brown are great. Avoid black.
  • White / Off White: Go for two-toned footwear, dark brown, mid-brown, or reddish brown.
  • Brown: Brown only.
  • Dark Brown: In a more smart-casual outfit such as this, tan works well when paired with dark brown.
  • Miscellaneous: Brown is the best shoe and boot color for sport coats and contrasting trousers. Sometimes you may also see boots or shoes with fabric inserts, which can be quite stylish.

When not to wear brown shoes

If you wear formal morning dress (morning coat or stroller) or formal evening dress (white tie or black tie) you should not wear brown shoes – go with black. The exception for this exception could be a tuxedo in brown, as worn by Noël Coward, Nick Foulkes, or Lapo Elkann. In that case, a pair of matching velvet slippers could be an option, but that’s only for the very advanced clothes horse.

Don’t wear brown shoes with black suits.

Some traditionalists would argue that you should not wear brown shoes to the opera. However, if you look at the general dress code at operas today, you will likely be more well-dressed in a conservative pair of brown shoes than the other attendees.

How to Combine Brown Shoes with Socks: Vintage Fashion Illustrations

Brown half brogue shoe with shadow stripe socks in blue & red with navy chalk stripe suit

Brown half brogue shoe with shadow stripe socks in blue & red with navy chalk stripe suit

In the vintage illustration above, a navy chalk stripe worsted suit is paired with chestnut brown calf leather brogues. This illustration is from the 1930s, proving that men wore dark suits with brown shoes even then. Moreover, they were experimenting with creative weaves, such as these beautiful shadow stripe socks in blue and red (which can be worn with all kinds of navy suits). Alternatively, blue socks with clocks or blue stripes would be a more subtle alternative.

Brown Oxford with patterns socks and pinpoint trousers

Brown Oxford with patterned socks and pinpoint trousers

The above illustration shows the benefit of understanding color temperature–that is, pairing shoes, socks, and trousers with a warm tone. Below, chinos paired with burgundy striped socks and mid-brown suede derby shoes operates on the same principle. Further, suede shoes in general will always give a more casual appearance, and are therefore a dapper alternative to more common “casual” shoe styles today, such as sneakers.

Here, grey-green pants pair well with mid-brown suede chukkas, underscoring the versatility of both that boot style and of suede shoes in general. The ensemble is brightened up further with some yellow socks. Bright pastel hosiery can be a smart way to add a pop of color that isn’t always visible; Fred Astaire was a proponent of this technique, often wearing things like pink socks in his outfits for films.

These checked pants are made of Shetland tweed, and they pair well with the rust-orange, over-the-calf socks and chocolate brown Norwegian shoes with crepe soles. This type of sole is more commonly associated with styles like desert boots, though it can work equally well with footwear with a lower ankle, as shown here.

The solid brown blucher or derby is a wardrobe staple because it pairs with almost every kind of informal outfit. The shoe in this illustration, while conservatively styled in terms of its leather upper, has a bit more character in its sole, featuring a solid heel and a layered toe.

Mid brown monk strap shoe with green socks and classic prince of wales suit

Here, a classic Prince of Wales suit is combined with a mid-brown monk strap shoe and green socks. Blue would work just as well as a sock color, and perhaps even a combination of green & purple. While monk straps have an historical precedent, as shown here, they have exploded in popularity in the 21st century, as their formality level is above that of styles like loafers and boat shoes, but not quite as reserved as oxfords.

This mid-brown herringbone suit pairs well with a mid-brown shoe, although a pair of more highly contrasting socks would have been better. There are many styles of brogues, of course, and the more broguing a shoe features, the less formal it is.

If you now want to create shoe/sock combinations yourself, take a look at this great selection of superior over-the-calf socks here.

Change The Look Of Your Brown Shoes With Shoelaces

One of the quickest and most simple ways to change the look and feel of your brown shoes is to simply change your shoelaces. The advantages are simple: it’s quick, easy, inexpensive and reversible … For quality cotton shoe and bootlaces for men’s dress shoes, click here.

Brown Leather Textures

You will notice that brown box calf leather and suede shoes have been becoming more popular in recent years. Buffalo, reindeer skin, and alligator have been classic, yet expensive, brown shoe leathers as well. Generally, you should keep in mind that shoes with more texture are less formal. Sometimes you may even see ostrich, pigskin, fish skin, or elephant hide for shoes. Most of the time, the last is not a classic shape and the entire shoe just screams for attention–as such, we would instead recommend wearing more traditional leather shoes with formal outfits, and with casual outfits, choices like brogues, brown suede shoes, brown loafers, or ankle boots.

Leather Patina

Unlike black leather shoes, brown shoes will develop a patina over time, which can be further enhanced by leather dyes and special polishing techniques. As an example, take a look at at this beautiful patina.

Conclusion

Brown shoes are not a substitute for black shoes, and every man should own at least one pair of black plain Oxfords. If you work in a white-collar environment, you can invest in a few pairs of black leather shoes, but otherwise go with brown because it is more versatile, it develops a fantastic patina over time, and it is the better color for casual outfits. If you don’t work in an office environment and rarely attend formal evening events, a single pair of black shoes may be enough for you, but you can never have enough brown shoes! If you like formal evening wear, invest in a pair of black patent leather Oxfords (in Austria Derby’s) or opera pumps – it is historically the correct choice for evening wear, even though some prefer polished calf skin for evening shoes.

In the broad strokes, brown footwear–everything from loafers to lace-up boots, wing-tips to cowboy boots–sports an amazing versatility, and wearing brown shoes or boots with items as varied as button-down shirts and leather jackets will serve you well. All told, there’s a lot that brown can do for you.

Orlando Brown Seeks Help From Dr. Phil With Snake-Eye Contacts

Orlando Brown is seeking help from Dr. Phil and wearing snake-eye contacts to his session.

Brown, the ex-Disney star (“That’s So Raven”) has been spiraling out of control allegedly due to drugs and who knows what else including mental issues. It seems his situation has become so dire that he’s at the point where he’s looking for a savior in the doctor.

The meet-up with Dr. Phil is set for Friday. Reportedly it’s an intervention-type setting that was put together by one of Brown’s friends. Speaking of mental issued, the friend says the ex-actor is suffering from a mental disorder and on top of that, has burned so many bridges … he’s run out of people and places to go for help.

“I called in because Orlando he has mental problems,” the 31-year-old’s friend told the television host in the clip. “He’s burnt so many bridges no one wants to deal with him. If you can’t help him, he does not have a chance.”

Here’s more from TMZ:

The clip’s pretty shocking — both because of what the friend says about the “That’s So Raven” star … and the look in Orlando’s eye(s) when he sits face-to-face with Dr. Phil.

We broke the story … several of Brown’s friends staged an intervention for him in October to encourage him to enter a rehab facility. It worked — but only temporarily — and it’s clear people are still very concerned about him.

As we reported … Orlando’s been in and out of handcuffs several times in 2018, including after he was busted breaking into a restaurant in September.

Oh yeah, let’s not forget about the insane time he was busted by bounty hunters back in April. He was arrested in his underwear!

And there’s this:

“Out of nowhere he’ll say, ‘Michael Jackson’s my father. I own Neverland,’” his friend told Dr. Phil.

The full interview airs today, Friday (12/21/18). Check your local listings for “Dr. Phil” air time(s).

Man cited for distracted driving says ‘phone’ cop saw was actually a McDonald’s hash brown

hash brown distracted driving

If you’re behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, you should always be doing your best to pay attention to what’s going on, and that means fiddling with your phone is a no-go. Plenty of states have strict laws against distracted driving, but one Connecticut man says that local police took things a bit too far.

Jason Stiber of Westport, Connecticut, was pulled over by police after an officer spotted him talking on his cell phone while driving. Stiber is fighting the charge and says he has a very good explanation for how events unfolded: The “phone” Stiber says the officer saw was actually a McDonald’s hash brown.

Takeoff “Casper,” Joell Ortiz & Apollo Brown “Grace Of God” & More | Daily Visuals 11.27.18

2017 BET Hip Hop Awards

Source: WENN.com / WENN

A few weeks ago Takeoff became the second of the three Migos to drop his first dolo effort The Last Rocket and though he’s only dropped one visual in support of the project today he returns with the re-up.

Coming through with a clip for the album cut “Casper,” Takeoff keeps with the album title’s space theme and goes on an interstellar adventure with a gang of thick young women and a homie in a spacesuit. We guess Takeoff is able to breath in space without one.

Back on earth Joell Ortiz and Apollo Brown get their OG on and use old school footage of hood life back in the day to remind everyone that they come from harder times in their clip to “Grace Of God.”

Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from Young Thug featuring Gunna and Lil Baby, Benny The Butcher, and more.
