Bud Konheim, Nicole Miller’s Chief Executive Officer, Dies at 84 After Biking Fall

Nicole Miller’s longtime business partner Bud Konheim died Saturday, after injuries sustained from a bicycle accident in Connecticut.
Konheim, chief executive officer of Nicole Miller Inc, died at the age of 84 at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Conn., Saturday. The cause of death was not immediately known, Miller said.
Services will be held Friday at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel in New York City.
Konheim and Miller have been one of the fashion industry’s longest-standing power couples, having worked together for more than 40 years. “He always said, ‘I’ve never had a bad day.’ He loved life and he loved his job.” Miller said. “He just always had this positive attitude. He just loved what he did. He loved the business.”
The irrepressible straight talker Konheim was a big picture thinker who examined the fashion industry from a mile-high perspective. Rather than talk up his own company’s success or most recent news, Konheim was more inclined to first discuss at great length why old-school retail models and other aging business practices weren’t working. Rather than bemoan the state of things, Konheim would fire off a litany of possible solutions. An early adopter of technology for a variety of elements of sales and design,

Homeland Security Chief Kirstjen Nielsen Resigned After Trump Flogged Her Over Border Security

Win McNamee/Getty

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen resigned from her position on Sunday evening, after serving sixteen months on the job.

Nielsen’s departure comes only two days after President Donald Trump announced that he was withdrawing the nomination of Ronald D. Vitiello to head U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Homeland Security agency tasked with enforcing Trump’s border policy, in favor of a “tougher” nominee who has yet to be named.

Trump lambasted the current enforcement of American immigration laws for years, and as the nation’s top immigration and national security official, those laws and their implementation fell under Nielsen’s purview.

REI Chief Executive Jerry Stritzke Resigns After Investigation into Undisclosed Relationship

The chief executive and president of Recreational Equipment, Inc., Jerry Stritzke, abruptly resigned Tuesday, REI announced in a statement. The company’s board accepted Stritzke’s resignation “following an investigation into the facts and circumstances surrounding a personal and consensual relationship between the REI CEO and the leader of another organization in the outdoor industry.” The investigation, which found no evidence of financial misconduct, was conducted by an external law firm and overseen by REI’s board of directors.

The company announced that Eric Artz, REI’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, will take on the role of interim CEO effective immediately. In an open letter to REI employees, REI board chair Steve Hooper praised Stritzke’s drive and innovative contributions to the company since taking over as president in October 2013. “Jerry has been an excellent CEO for REI and together, all of you have delivered outstanding results for the co-op during remarkably challenging times in retail,” Hooper wrote, adding, “The co-op is stronger today than when Jerry joined.”

Kent, Wash.-based REI was founded in 1938, an early pioneer in outdoor retail that now has 147 stores in 36 states. The company has been repeatedly ranked by Fortune as a best place to work, and measures such as REI’s Black Friday closures and million-dollar investments in initiatives that demonstrate the relationship between being outdoors and good health are often cited as evidence of its progressive workplace culture at the member-owned cooperative.

J.Hilburn, a direct seller of men’s wear, is beefing up its staff, adding veteran design Simon Kneen to the fold as chief creative officer.
In this new position, Kneen will oversee design, styling and showroom presentations to retail stores for the Dallas-based company.

Tekashi 6ix9ine Dropped Dime In Chief Keef Shooting Case, Allegedly

Word is Tekashi 6ix9ine is already dropping dime on his former associates. A few members of the Brownsville rapper’s entourage have been charged with shooting at Chief Keef.

According to TMZKintea McKenzieAnthony Ellison and Denard Butler have indicted in crimes that all share a connection to Tekashi69.

Reportedly, McKenzie, who also goes by Kooda B, was indicted soon after Tekashi spoke to investigators, and he was tagged as the shooter in the incident that occurred in Times Square last June. No one was injured, but afterwards footage was revealed of Tekashi essentially putting a $ 30K bounty on Chief Keef’s cousin, Tadoe.

However, according to the authorities, McKenzie was paid $ 10K to shoot Sosa, but fortunately for the Chicago rapper he missed. McKenzie is still on the lam.

Currently, Ellison is in custody for allegedly kidnapping Tekashi (seriously, back in July 2018) while Butler got picked up by ATF just today (Jan. 30).

Tekashi has been in the clink since November and is facing federal racketeering charges. Considering the Brownsville rapper was an admitted troll and truly not ’bout that life, expect him to keep singing. Otherwise, he’s looking at 32 years to life in prison.

Meet Anne Reid, the Black Woman Tapped As Elizabeth Warren’s Chief of Staff

In addition to taking another step toward launching a presidential run in 2020, Sen. Elizabeth Warren has named Anne Reid as her new chief of staff, making Reid one of the few African Americans to lead a U.S. Senator’s staff. Reid is also the only black woman serving as chief of staff for a Democratic senator.

“Anne is a gifted leader and committed public servant,” Warren said in a statement released Dec. 27. “Anne’s experience serving our country and working to improve the health and well-being of millions of Americans will be invaluable as we continue our fights to level the playing field.”

The announcement that Warren tapped Reid for the position is being praised as a progressive step toward diversity by the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies. “Black women play a critical role in our democracy, and Senator Warren’s appointment of a talented staffer like Anne Reid recognizes that Americans from all backgrounds can serve in a leadership role at the highest levels of government,” said Spencer Overton, president of the Joint Center.

“As we have seen so far during this hiring season, the face of senior staff in the House and Senate is changing because of members who recognize that it is not enough to have diversity in electoral coalitions. Diversity and inclusion must be the centerpiece of policymaking. It starts with staff,” added Don Bell, the director of the Black Talent Initiative at the Joint Center.

The move could be part of Warren’s effort to court black voters should she decided to challenge President Donald Trump in a bid for the White House next year. As for now, the Massachusetts senator has created an exploratory committee to test the waters before her potential run.

Here are five facts about Anne Reid.

She was hired and promoted by Warren within two months

Reid began serving as Sen. Warren’s Senior Advisor in Oct. 2018, just a couple of months before she was named as the senator’s new Chief of Staff.

She worked for the Obama administration

Reid began her work in D.C. politics back in 2008, working as a congressional staffer in the U.S. House of Representatives under the Obama administration.

During this time, Reid served as a staff member and legislative analyst for the House’s Energy and Commerce Committee and the Oversight & Government Reform Committee for Democrat Rep. Henry A. Waxman. In her final year on the Energy and Commerce staff, she was the lead Democratic staffer covering public health agencies and issues.

Later, she went on to work as a counselor to U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell, where she was a member of the senior leadership team during Barack Obama’s last years in office.

Reid previously served as a legislative assistant to U.S. Sen. Christopher A. Coons.

She co-founded a Public Health & Policy Think Tank

Following President Trump’s inauguration, Reid left government and teamed up with former Obama administration staffer Bobby Clark to create Concordis: Strategy and Analytics in June 2017. The group researches public health issues, develops policy ideas, and proposes solutions to improve health and well-being.

She has worked in the nonprofit sector

In Oct. 2017, Reid was named as the chief strategy officer at Vision To Learn, an organization that offers free eye exams and glasses to children in low-income communities.

She obtained a B.A. from Harvard and a Master’s from Chapel Hill

Reid holds a B.A. from Harvard University, where she majored in Hispanic Studies. She also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Jimmy Kimmel: Trump Wants Jared Kushner as Chief of Staff Because He’s ‘Good Enough to Screw’ Ivanka

ABC

Earlier this week, Jimmy Kimmel noted in his monologue that, given John Kelly’s clashes with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, whoever Donald Trump ends up picking to be his next chief of staff will need the approval of his daughter and son-in-law. Now, it seems that Kushner himself might be up for the job.

According to The Huffington Post, Kushner “has been pushing his own candidacy with Trump, citing his work on a criminal justice reform package and a claimed ability to work with Democrats.”

Or as Kimmel put it, “I guess the thinking is, if he’s good enough to screw my daughter, he’s good enough to screw the country,” to groans from his audience. “I really hope he hires Jared and then he fires Jared so we go through the whole thing,” he added.

Stephen Colbert Mocks Trump’s ‘Desperate’ Chief of Staff Search

We weren’t supposed to know about John Kelly’s departure as President Trump’s chief of staff until Monday. As The New York Times reported over the weekend, Trump agreed to let Kelly made the announcement on his own terms. But then before he could do it, the president blurted out the decision to reporters on Saturday.

Imitating Trump, Stephen Colbert said in his Late Show monologue Monday night, “I would like to humbly announce that it was me who dumped him. No matter what he tells you, that’s what happened. I’m the one who said we should see other presidents, OK? I just wasn’t that into him.”

Of course, Trump thought he had a replacement for Kelly lined up in the vice president’s chief of staff, or as Colbert referred to him, “bro who’s not going to let those nerds hold a luau on campus while he’s president of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Nick Ayers.”

John Kelly Is Out As Donald Trump’s Chief of Staff

SAUL LOEB/AFP/Getty

After serving at the unsteady right hand of President Donald Trump for the past one-and-a-half years, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly is leaving around the end of year, the president announced Saturday, concluding a tumultuous tenure as the administration’s “alpha dog” after the results of a midterm election put the president’s legislative agenda—and, potentially, his administration—in jeopardy.

In doing so, Kelly became the latest in a long string of casualties in a West Wing rife with dysfunction, hostility and vicious infighting between factions of the president’s senior staff.

Speaking to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House before leaving for the Army-Navy football game in Philadelphia, Trump announced that “John Kelly will be leaving toward the end of the year” adding that the former four-star general is a “great guy.”

On the Move: KPMG’s New Diversity Chief, Michele Meyer-Shipp

In August, Michele Meyer-Shipp was named Chief Diversity Officer at KPMG.

KPMG is one of the world’s largest auditing companies along with Deloitte, Ernst & Young, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. The Amsterdam-based company employs 189,000 people and provides professional services in the areas of financial audit, taxes, and advisory.

According to a press release, Meyer-Shipp is an executive and attorney with “significant experience in inclusion strategy and employment law.” She joins KPMG as a partner.

More information on her appointment is included in the press release:

“[Meyer-Shipp] will lead the national Inclusion and Diversity (I&D) team and oversee its strategy and objectives, including growing diverse leaders and collaboration; inspiring broad perspectives and innovative client solutions; and fostering an inclusive, accessible, and vibrant workplace. She will work closely with KPMG’s leadership teams to advance its inclusive and diverse culture, which has earned the firm recognition as a top workplace by FORTUNE magazine, DiversityInc, Working Mother, and The Human Rights Campaign.”

Prior to joining KMPG, she was the chief diversity and inclusion officer at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. She also served as vice president and counsel and then chief diversity officer at Prudential Financial.

Meyer-Shipp holds a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from Seton Hall University School of Law and a Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University. She sits on several professional boards and organizations including Twitter’s Inclusion Advisory Council, Working Mother Media’s Multicultural Women’s Advisory Board, the National Organization on Disability Board, and the Center for Talent Innovation Diversity and Inclusion Council.

“Companies with inclusive and diverse cultures are better positioned to adapt, grow, and thrive – and we take great pride in embedding these values into our programs and actions,” said Darren Burton, KPMG’s Vice Chair of Human Resources via a press release. “Our national diversity networks engage nearly half of our 30,000 people in professional development, mentoring relationships, and community service activities. Michele’s skills and experience will help us continue to enhance our efforts to recruit, develop, and retain diverse talent.”

Ya Think?: Cops Say Tekashi 6ix9ine Ratted Himself Out Over Ordering Hit On Chief Keef’s Cousin

Tekashi 6ix9ine live in Oslo, Norway.

The hits keep coming with the Tekashi 6ix9ine case and this latest bit of news shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Cops believe the alleged Bloods gang member ordered a hit on Chief Keef’s cousin in New York and video of him allegedly discussing the crime attempt.

TMZ reports:

TMZ broke the story … Tekashi FaceTime’d Keef’s cousin, Tadoe, in late May and repeatedly asked for his location. The conversation went down on camera, in broad daylight, and we posted that video last week. At the end of the convo, the Brooklyn rapper clearly says, “I got a 30 pack on him right now, Blood.”

The translation, we’re told, is putting a $ 30k bounty on someone. Law enforcement sources tell us … investigators working on the June 2 attempted shooting of Chief Keef are now convinced 6ix9ine ordered the hit.

As we reported, someone opened fire on Keef while he was outside the W Hotel in Times Square. We’re told Tadoe was standing nearby at the time — and the “30 pack” video changes NYPD’s perspective on the shooting.

One law enforcement source said, “This is no coincidence. We believe the video is directly related to the crime. We believe Tekashi69 ordered the hit on Tadoe — who we now believe is the intended target.”

Charges have not been filed in the case but NYPD do have two persons of interest including one person connected to Tekashi.

Can’t Get It Together: Video Shows Tekashi 6ix9ine Ordering a Hit on Chief Keef’s Cousin [Video]

Tekashi 6ix9ine just needs to go to jail.

In newly surfaced footage, the rapper appears to have ordered goons to shoot Chief Keef’s cousin just days before his cousin was shot at in NYC.

via TMZ:

In shocking new footage, obtained by TMZ, you see Tekashi on FaceTime with Chief’s cousin, Tadoe, asking him if he’s going to be at Keef’s NYC hotel. When the convo ends, 6ix9ine brags to his crew about placing a $ 30,000 bounty on Tadoe.

It’s interesting … the video was recorded in late May, just days before someone shot at and missed Chief Keef at the W Hotel in Times Square. Remember, 6ix9ine and Keef were beefing all spring over social media leading up to the shooting.

We got Tekashi in Bev Hills hours after bullets flew in Keef’s direction, and 6ix9ine denied any involvement. But, Tekashi’s very public denial didn’t stop cops from looking into his role in the failed hit.

Tekashi is now sitting with neutral inmates at a federal facility after getting busted on racketeering, among other charges. Prosecutors say 6ix9ine and his crew conspired to commit a slew of crimes, including shootings.

Now, if Tekashi was serious in his apparent threat, we have video evidence the rapper might’ve ordered at least one hit.

You can see the footage for yourself below.
