Etro Men’s Line to Make Runway Comeback in June

RUNWAY RETURN: Etro is bringing its men’s line back on the catwalk.
Following a three-season runway hiatus, during which Etro men’s creative director Kean Etro organized engaging presentations, the brand will unveil its spring 2020 collection with a show on June 16.
The last men’s collection that Etro showed on the catwalk was the spring 2018 lineup, which was presented with a coed runway show at the Palazzo del Ghiaccio venue in Milan.
The location of the upcoming men’s show is still to be disclosed. After seasons of shows held at Palazzo del Ghiaccio, last February Etro showed its women’s fall 2019 collection at Milan’s Giuseppe Verdi music conservatory.
Etro, which counts more than 200 stores, is investing in communication and marketing, strengthening the experience in stores and increasing digital content. Europe is still Etro’s biggest market, representing 30 percent of sales. It is followed by Asia and the U.S., accounting for 30 and 20 percent of the brand’s total business, respectively.

Tiger Woods Wins 2019 Golf Masters in Major Comeback

(AUGUSTA, Ga.) — Fallen hero, crippled star, and now a Masters champion again.

Tiger Woods rallied to win the Masters for the fifth time Sunday, a comeback that goes well beyond the two-shot deficit he erased before a delirious audience at Augusta National that watched memories turn into reality.

Woods had gone nearly 11 years since he won his last major, 14 years since that green jacket was slipped over his Sunday red shirt. He made it worth the wait, closing with a 2-under 70 for a one-shot victory, and setting off a scene of raw emotion.

He scooped up 10-year-old Charlie, born a year after Woods won his 14th major at Torrey Pines in the 2008 U.S Open. He hugged his mother and then his 11-year-old daughter Sam, and everyone else in his camp that stood by him through a public divorce, an embarrassing DUI arrest from a concoction of painkillers and surgeries.

“WOOOOOOO!!!” Woods screamed as he headed for the scoring room with chants of “Tiger! Tiger! Tiger” echoing as loud as any of the roars on the back nine at Augusta National.

Woods lost his impeccable image to a sex scandal. He lost his health to four back surgeries that left him unable to get out of bed, much less swing a club, and he went two years without even playing a major. It was two years ago at the Masters when Woods said he needed a nerve block just to walk to the Champions Dinner. At that time, he thought his career is over.

Now the comeback is truly complete.

Woods won his 15th major, leaving three short of the standard set by Jack Nicklaus. It was his 81st victory on the PGA Tour, one title away from the career record held by Sam Snead.

“A big ‘well done’ from me to Tiger,” Nicklaus tweeted. “I am so happy for him and for the game of golf. This is just fantastic!!!”

It was the first time Woods won a major when trailing going into the final round, and he needed some help from Francesco Molinari, the 54-hole leader who still was up two shots heading into the heart of Amen Corner.

And that’s when all hell broke loose at Augusta.

Molinari’s tee shot on the par-3 12th never had a chance, hitting the bank and tumbling into Rae’s Creek for double bogey. Until then, Molinari had never trailed in a round that began early in threesomes to finish ahead of storms.

And then it seemed as though practically everyone had a chance.

Six players had a share of the lead at some point on the back. With the final group still in the 15th fairway, there was a five-way tie for the lead. And that’s when Woods seized control, again with plenty of help.

Molinari’s third shot clipped a tree and plopped straight down in the water for another double bogey. Woods hit onto the green, setting up a two-putt birdie for his first lead of the final round. Woods followed with a tee shot on the par-3 16th that rode down the slope next to the cup and settled two feet away for his final birdie.

That gave him a two-shot cushion, and no one was going to catch him.

Frida Giannini Plots Comeback to Fashion

NEXT MOVES: Frida Giannini, Gucci’s creative director until 2015, hinted at the possibility of a comeback to fashion as early as 2019 in a Sunday interview with Italy’s daily paper Il Sole 24 Ore.
“Throughout these years I’ve been submitted several offers: some I discarded, some I considered. Yes, it’s possible that there will be interesting news this year,” the designer is quoted as saying. “Should I make a comeback to fashion, I’d want it to be for a less all-absorbing role than [the one] I had at Gucci,” Giannini noted. Further details were not revealed.
After exiting Gucci, Giannini kept a low profile and eased out of the fashion world. In the interview  she confessed: “When you are absorbed by an apical role in the [fashion] sector, with all the media exposure at the digital era’s fast pace, there’s little time left to reflect and find objectivity. These years [looking] ‘from the window’ have been positive for this reason, as well.”
Since her abrupt departure from Gucci, Giannini has focused on her role as the mother of her daughter Greta, whom she shares with former Gucci chairman and chief executive officer Patrizio di Marco. The couple tied the knot in June 2015 and Giannini chose

Is Ivanka Trump Planning a Big Fashion Comeback in China?

Photo Illustration by The Daily Beast

Ivanka Trump shut down her eponymous clothing line last July. Six months later, before the last of her heavily reduced stock has been sold, the first daughter is already planning her comeback.

As the AP reported, Chinese officials have approved five trademarks Trump first filed in 2016 and 2017. Given Trump’s self-branding as a lifestyle guru, those trademarks covering wedding dresses, sunglasses, brokerage, charitable fundraising, and art valuation make sense.

The fifth trademark covers childcare centers, which is somewhat eerie considering her father’s family separation policy. (Ivanka called the policy “a low point” for the administration.)

Richard Blackwood ‘won’t rule out’ EastEnders comeback

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Blackwood says he would “never rule out” an ‘EastEnders’ return, but he has something else “quite big” coming up soon.
The 46-year-old star may have some more time on his hands after he was eliminated from ‘Dancing on Ice’ last night (20.01.19), but it doesn’t look like he’ll be reprising his role as Vincent Hubbard anytime soon.
He said: “I’ve got a movie coming out, also there’s some other stuff that is huge.
“But ‘EastEnders’, I would never rule it out. They were good to me, so I’ve got love for them.
“But there is something else, which is quite big.”
But Richard admitted he would be prepared to head back to Walford if show bosses gave him a great storyline.
When asked if he would return if the plot was right, he replied: “Of course, absolutely, I’ve got love for them.”
The star was disappointed to exit ‘Dancing on Ice’ on Sunday, and insisted he and his pro skating partner Carlotta Edwards had “a lot more” to give.
He added to ‘Lorraine’: “I don’t believe we were ready to go yet. There was a lot more [to give].
“You could see, the dance, it was very strong.”
Last year, Richard admitted the door was “slightly ajar” about a potential Albert Square return.
He said: “It’s slightly ajar. I can see the guys in there and they’re like, ‘Richard, how’s it going?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, just checking. We good? My family still there?’
“‘EastEnders’ was really good for me. It’s a fast machine. It taught me you don’t have the luxury of taking the time to overly rehearse.
“It’s very quick but it gets you to that place of landing it straight away and trusting it.
“It’s like a master-class. I’m very fortunate.”

Off the chart: the big comeback of paper maps

As Stanfords travel bookshop moves into new London premises after 118 years, its cartographer explains how the ability to tailor-make any map is keeping their magic alive

When I was living in Yemen during the 1980s, someone gave me a battered old map. Information was scarce then, and accurate maps were extremely hard to come by. So departing expatriates tended to pass on any treasures to new arrivals. As he did so, my benefactor paused. “Be careful,” he said, “You don’t want to get caught with this.”

Maps, you see, can be dangerous. I think of this when I meet Martin Greenaway, a cartographer at Stanfords in London. Martin is sitting by a couple of computer screens behind a treasure trove of maps: tables covered in vast colourful countries, wall racks groaning with continents, drawers stuffed with cities and mountain ranges. Stanfords has been making maps since the mid-1850s, and has operated from this purpose-built site on London’s Long Acre since 1901. Now it is moving on – opening new premises in nearby Mercer Walk on 10 January.

White go go boots are making a surprise comeback so break out the disco ball

You can dance, you can jive…

white boots

I’m not afraid to say it: I’m a diehard ABBA and Mamma Mia fan. As my exasperated pals can attest to, I would not shut up about Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again when it came out and I’ve been low-key trying to sneak 70s inspired pieces into my wardrobe ever since. While the summery dresses won’t work for the winter cold anymore, I have been noticing a pretty surprising fashion trend around a lot recently: the return of the white go go boot. And honestly, I stan.

Although in the past I’ve typically only seen them at costume parties, they’ve cemented themselves a little niche amongst the fashion forward this season. From chic leather pieces to jaw-dropping white snakeskin, a number of them were spotted all over the fashion week just gone.

With some of my favourite high street retailers and luxury brands jumping on the bandwagon, I’m genuinely tempted to join in – even if they’re not the most practical colour. (Needs must when it comes to looking cool AF.)

white boots

While they might seem pretty daunting to style, they’re a total dream if you pair them with another big winter trend: patterned midi dresses and midi skirts. And seeing that shock of white underneath a statement winter coat will have you Instagram ready in no time with a kick ass OOTD.

If you’re a go go boot purist, this might not be 100% the right edit for you as I’ve popped in a few pieces that take the staple into 2018. Don’t @ me on Twitter for steering away from the latex please, I’m just a girl in love with white boots.

And cowboy boots.

And ankle boots.

Just, boots.

Before I fall down a boot-related rabbit hole, here’s my edit of the best white knee high boots for the season.

If you end up buying a pair, sticking on ABBA’s Dancing Queen and having a little boogie, I’m right there with you. We should grab a coffee sometime.

Tibi Logan Patent-Leather Knee Boots

white boots

These are about as close as you’ll get to a traditional go go boot, as they’re made of the same shiny patent leather we’ve come to associate them with. That said, the pointed tip and rounded top bring it more into 2018 – so it’s more a chic throwback than a dated reference.

Mango Snake Effect High-Leg Boots

white boots

These are the shoes that kicked off my obsession with white boots, if I’m being perfectly honest. I saw them in Mango and they actually look a little paler than they do here, so IMO they still belong in the shade territory. Animal print is the trend that just doesn’t want to die this season and with faux snakeskin like this, why would you ever want it to?

It came out recently that & other stories’ white cowboy boots were amongst the most in demand styles this season and they show no sign of slowing down with these boots. With a blockier heel for extra support, these boots were truly made for walking and are the epitome of Scandi-chic.

Julia Mays Faux Fur White Nappa

white boots

I can never resist a bit of faux fur. These boots aren’t quite as tall as the others on the list and come to about your mid-calf. They’re giving me total Parisian chic vibes and while they’re a bit pricier, the quality speaks for itself as they’re made from Nappa leather and lined with faux fur inside to boot.

Priced at £495, available at Julia Mays

TBH these boots aren’t made for walking, but that’s still what they’ll do.

I’m just going to bite the bullet and commit to buying a pair, who needs Christmas presents for the fam anyways?

Alleged Emo ‘Sex Cult’ Leader William Control’s Comeback Attempt Shocks Victims

Facebook

In June, The Daily Beast published allegations from multiple women about former Aiden singer William Francis. The women claimed that Francis, who performs under the moniker William Control, “physically and emotionally abused women, ordered many of them to get matching tattoos of his initials, and even demanded contracts from his sexual partners or ‘slaves,’ signed in their own blood.” As one survivor, Stormie Somers, told The Daily Beast at the time, “What [Francis] considers BDSM—basically he just beats the shit out of you and brainwashes you to believe your sole purpose is to serve him and to worship him and that’s your job.”

“It went from crossing lines of consent to totally physical annihilation.”

Francis denied the accusations, writing in a June 7 statement, “I have, in the past, engaged in heavy role play and bondage relationships WITH consent. However, I do not engage in that sort of play anymore. And for anyone who feels as though I have hurt them or violated their consent, I am sorry. It won’t ever happen again. There are lots of things that have been said that are outright lies. I have never been with underage girls. I have never been involved in a ‘sex cult.’”
