How to Create a Budget for Your Siding Project

Siding is an integral component of your home. It can drastically change the appearance with texture and color while protecting your home from the elements and making your home more energy efficient. While moving forward on the project and selecting a contractor is exciting, it’s important to find time to look at the numbers and complete the budgeting process for your siding project.

Creating a budget for a home improvement project like siding installation can seem intimidating, but you’re in the right place to find guidance on how to best manage and create a budget for your investment in your home.

Budget for Siding

There are so many siding varieties in today’s market to match every homeowner’s vision and budget. Depending on the material, siding can range in price from $ 4-$ 15 per square foot. Things to consider with your contractor will include the climate in your area, the look you’re trying to create, and the numbers you’re working with. Do your research, but also leverage your contractor’s expertise for which material will be the most cost effective for your home.

At Modernize, we frequently speak to homeowners about their home improvement projects. Budgeting your project is stressful and we get that: The first step is to be sure you can afford the siding you’re planning to install, based on factors like your cash flow, your assets, and what the return will be on your investment.

That’s where the budget comes in. Put simply, your budget is comprised of some simple math. After consulting with your contractor, here’s what you need to figure out.

How much can you afford?

Calculate your income and your expenses, your needs and your wants, and find the figure of money you could theoretically put aside for this investment in your home. Your experienced contractor is one of your most important initial sources on how to best determine what that investment should look like from outside your personal goals— be sure to consult them, but remember this is your project (and your money).

What Is Your Home Equity?

If and when you decide to finance your own siding installation, your home equity could play a pivotal role in everything from your loan amount to your interest rate. Simply put, your equity is the difference between what you owe on your home or property and the appraised (or market) value determined for it.

The more of your mortgage you’ve already paid, for example, the higher your equity in the given property. And the more equity you hold in your home, the more powerful you are as a borrower, especially when it comes to purchasing power, or the financial ability to buy (or purchase) things.

Begin Your Siding Project Today

What Is Your Credit Rating?

From your credit score to your existing savings, purchasing power, and other ongoing loans, various financial institutions will have slightly different scales by which to determine your eligibility for a home improvement loan. And while some programs are certainly designed to be on your side—like the HomeStyle Energy Program or the Title I Property Improvement Loan—you’re going to be paying back in some way.

One of the most significant markers of your financial health—as determined by financial institutions, anyway—is your credit score. Plainly put, a credit score is “predicts how likely you are to pay back a loan on time,” according to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Companies us proprietary  scoring models to calculate your credit score using information from your credit reports, which essentially break down your “credit activity and current credit situation, such as loan paying history and the status of your credit accounts.”

Knowing your credit rating and how you’ll be considered as a borrower will go a long way in helping you determine how much you can afford as you budget for new siding.

Be Real About Your Siding Needs

Homeowners have shared through surveys that trying to decipher the complex elements of their siding project left them seeking more professional support—which our homeowners found with Modernize.

You likely already have a solid idea of what this project will entail based on what your contractor has shared with you. And while their goals might be completely in your favor and aim to maximize the amount of protection from the elements and insulation the siding brings in, they might not necessarily align with your personal or aesthetic goals. Be sure to communicate your own priorities with your contractor.

It all comes down to trusting a contractor—and that also means a contractor trusting you. The more upfront you are about what you want to do and your financial limits, the better a contractor will be able to hone in on the best type of budget to build for your siding installation. It might not result in the gingerbread house of your dreams siding job you dreamed of, but it will result in the best value you’ll get for the money you’re able to invest.

How to Create a Budget for Your AC Replacement

If your air conditioner stopped working unexpectedly, it creates a stressful situation for your entire household. The silver lining is that a new air conditioning unit will keep you cool, help increase the value of your home, and save your money on your utility bills. Trying to make decisions under strife can be daunting. It is important to have clear conversations around cost with your contractor and complete the budgeting process for your HVAC project.

Creating a budget for a home improvement project like an air conditioning replacement can seem intimidating. It is important to research how to best manage and create a budget for your investment in your home.

Budgeting for Your Air Conditioner

There are so many systems and projects in today’s market to match every homeowner’s needs and budget. Things to consider with your contractor will include the type of system your contractor suggests for your home, the energy efficiency of that system, and the budget you’re working with. Complete your own research, but also expect your contractor to know which system will be the most cost effective for your home.  We encourage you to look at our cost calculator as well to get a better idea of what to expect.

Budgeting your project is stressful and we get that: The first step is to be sure you can afford the air conditioning unit you’re planning to install, based on factors like your cash flow, your assets, and what the return will be on your investment.

That’s where the budget comes in. Put simply, your budget is comprised of some simple math. After consulting with your contractor, here’s what you need to figure out.

How Much Can You Afford?

Depending on your home’s layout, your contractor will help determine the best air conditioning system for your needs. Prices could range anywhere from $ 3,500 to $ 7,600. But remember, certain units will also help drive your energy costs down. As noted in a previous Modernize report, central air conditioning units with high energy efficiency capabilities —also known as high SEER ratings— can save you a considerable amount of money on your average heating and cooling energy bills.

Calculate your income and your expenses, your needs and your wants, and find the figure of money you could theoretically put aside for an investment in your home. How to Create a Budget for Your Windows Project

It’s very exciting that you have a set a course to upgrade or replace your windows, and in doing so will be increasing the value of your home and saving on your utility bills. And while your conversations with your contractor are exciting, it’s important to find time to look at the numbers and complete the process of budgeting your windows project.

Creating a budget for a relatively costly home improvement project like a windows replacement installation can seem intimidating — you’re in the right place to find guidance on how to best manage and create a budget for your investment in your home. There are simple paths you can take to simplify and ease your journey.

Budgeting for Windows

Replacement windows are an investment for homeowners. Replacement windows can cost an average of $ 300 to $ 750 per window, depending on the window type and brand.  Homeowners can find the best budget for their project by negotiating the final contract price and terms with a window contractor they trust. Further, it’s okay to expect the contractor to handle the bulk of the work in reducing costs before your windows upgrade project even begins—after all, one of their value propositions is expertise in the field and local knowledge about getting the most out of local, state, and federal rebates and incentives.

That all amounts to a big leg up.

At Modernize, we frequently speak to homeowners about their home improvement projects. Budgeting your project is stressful and we get that: The first step is to be sure you can afford this system you’re planning to install, based on factors like your cash flow, your assets, and what the return will be on your investment.

Enter the budget.

How Much Can You Afford?

It could also be lucrative to finance your own window replacement.

Calculate your income and your expenses, your needs and your wants, and find the figure of money you could theoretically put aside for an investment in your home. Your experienced contractor is one of your most important initial sources on how to best determine what that investment should look like from outside your personal goals—be sure to consult them for that piece of the pie but remember this is your project (and your money) so it’s okay to be a little selfish and somewhat frugal to achieve your ends.

When surveying homeowners, we often hear that ahead of a windows-related home improvement project, people are often misinformed about how to determine what they should focus on like window styles, frames, siding, and so on. Not to mention, the windows market is a wide one and includes many common names and brands you might trust for other products — take some time to familiarize yourself with the best window brands out there.

You likely already have a solid idea of what this project will entail based on what your contractor has shared with you. How to Create a Budget for Your Roofing Project

When you are facing emergency roofing repairs that you did not expect, it’s hard not to worry that your budget for roof replacement is not going to place serious strain on your finances. If you are in this position, the first thing you should know is that you’re not alone: It is estimated that the home remodeling industry in the United States is a $ 99 billion sector. That means a lot of people are remodeling portions of their home at the same time you are.

Creating your budget for roof replacement can help you feel like the project is more manageable and under control. As the scope of the project starts to come into focus after you get the numbers on paper, you can begin taking actionable steps toward replacing your roof and getting your home looking its best.

Here is what to know about starting your budget for roof replacement and how you can find the finances you need to complete repairs.

Making a Budget for Roof Replacement

Budgeting for roof repairs does not have to be confusing. In fact, by following a few simple steps you can get organized and prepared to create a workable budget that keeps you on track throughout your repair process.

Begin Your Roof Replacement Today

Step 1. File a Roofing Insurance Claim

If your roof is damaged and you believe some of the costs could be covered by insurance, it’s important to start an insurance claim as soon as possible. If your insurance will cover the cost of your repairs, your entire budget might only be the deductible. For example, if you have a $ 1,000 deductible and your roof will cost $ 4,500 to repair, you would pay the $ 1,000 and your insurance company would pay $ 3,500.

After you submit a claim the insurance company will likely work with you to find a time when an adjuster can come out to survey the damage.

Step 2. Compare Quotes From Contractors

In order to make a budget to replace your roof you’re going to need an accurate idea of how much the entire project will cost. That’s why you should meet with several local contractors to have them each give you a quote on estimated repairs. Before moving forward with any contractor you should compare quotes to make sure you’re getting the best deal.

Even though your contractor might provide a general quote that has one line item for the cost of time and one line item for the cost of goods, ask if they can make the quote more specific. It could help your budget to know exactly what materials they’ll be using and if there are any less expensive materials that could do the same job. Getting a more detailed quote from your contractors allows you to do a better comparison. Plus, if the project goes off budget you’ll have a better idea of why.

Once you have several quotes from contractors you can show these to your insurance adjuster, who will also have an idea of how much these repairs typically cost and if your estimates seem accurate.

Step 3. Find Room in Your Household Budget

Here’s the tricky part — finding room to pay for your part of the repairs. If you don’t already have an emergency savings fund set aside you might find it difficult to come up with the finances to afford your repairs.

Here are some options if you’re trying to find the money to fix your roof:

  • Review your household spending: Are there any areas where you can slim down your spending so that you can reallocate the money toward your roofing project? Remember, this likely won’t be a permanent change in your finances, but a temporary adjustment while you’re finishing your roofing project.
  • Look for housing grants. Some states have programs for low-income homeowners that loan or grant money to help pay for necessary repairs. You can start researching what’s available in your state at the Housing and Urban Development website. The U.S. government also has a program for low-income rural homeowners to help pay for repairs. You can check online to see if you meet the eligibility requirements for this federal program. The federal government also provides some tax incentives for some home improvements that you can review on their website.
  • Consider a home repair loan. If you’re still strapped for cash and are having a hard time making room in your budget for a roofing project, consider applying for a personal loan to cover some of the costs. You can compare lenders online to make sure you’re getting the best deal. Lenders will review your credit history and current work situation to determine your creditworthiness. As you’re shopping, compare APRs and terms to make sure that the loans you’ve been offered are the right fit for you. Remember, if you extend the term of the loan you might have lower monthly payments but end up paying more in interest over its lifetime. Nonetheless, your main priority should be to find a loan with monthly payments that you can keep up to.
  • Look at 0 Percent APR credit cards. Some credit cards will have an introductory rate of 0 percent APR. What this means is that if you pay the entire credit card off before the introductory period ends, you won’t owe any interest on the money. If you don’t have the cash to pay for your roofing project now but you believe you can acquire it before the APR on the credit card changes, this could be a savvy way to finance your roofing project. Remember, depending on your credit you might not qualify for the lowest introductory rate advertised, so make sure you check to see the official APR you’ve qualified for before you open the card. Also, be careful to pay the credit card off before the introductory rate changes otherwise you might owe a lot of interest as the new rate could be significantly higher.

Step 4. Create an Emergency Fund for Next Time

After you’ve created your budget for your current repairs, don’t stop there. Now that you have an idea of how to create a home repair budget, do yourself a favor and start saving for the next time. As a homeowner, you know that there’s always maintenance and repair work that needs to be done. If you’ve had difficulty saving for an emergency fund in the past, this time consider some new strategies that could help you. Have you tried a budgeting app? Apps like Mint or GoodBudget can help you track your spending and give you notifications to encourage you along the way toward your savings goal so that you’ll be able to handle any home repair emergencies in the future.

How to Create a Budget for Your Solar Project

It’s very exciting that you have a set a course to install solar panels and in doing so will be increasing the value of your home and saving on your utility bills. And while your conversations with your contractor are exciting, it’s important to find time to look at the numbers and complete the process of budgeting your solar project.

Creating a budget for a relatively costly home improvement project like solar panel installation can seem intimidating — you’re in the right place to find guidance on how to best manage and create a budget for your investment in your home. There are simple paths you can take to simplify and ease your journey.

Budgeting for Solar Panels

Most importantly, remember the ball is in your court. The cost of solar installation has dropped more than 70 percent since 2010, according to data from Solar Energy Industries Association. In response, therefore, contractors have stepped up their game to compete in an increasingly saturated arena. Further, it’s okay to expect the contractor to handle the bulk of the work in reducing costs before your solar installation project even begins—after all, one of their value propositions is expertise in the field and local knowledge about getting the most out of local, state, and federal rebates and incentives.

That all amounts to a big leg up.

Enter the budget.

Starting Saving With Solar

Calculating What You Can Afford

Some solar panel system installation projects could cost nothing at all. You could increase your home value with solar without buying a solar panel system at all. But considering the many financial incentives offered by local, regional, and federal agencies, it could also be lucrative to finance your own solar paneling system.

Calculate your income and your expenses, your needs and your wants, and find the figure of money you could theoretically put aside for an investment in your home. Google and Legendary Dancer Bill T. Jones Create Interactive Dance Experience for Anyone

Bill T. Jones and Google Creative Lab have collaborated to launch Body, Movement, Language, a collection of experiments that have resulted from a two-way residency between the writer, dancer director, and Tony Award winner.

Inspired by Jones’ long history of intertwining live, improvised speech and dance, these open-source experiments use AI to invite people to explore the creative possibilities of their bodies and make new connections with Jones’ iconic works right at home, using nothing more than a laptop and webcam.

When asked why Jones partnered with Google he said, “The idea of machine learning intrigues me. The theme of our company’s Live Ideas Fest this year is artificial intelligence. AI is supposed to take us into the next century and important things are supposed to be happening with this technology, so I wanted to see if we could use it to stir real human emotion. Maybe it’s ego, but I want to be the one to know how to use PoseNet to make somebody cry. How do you get the technology to be weighted with meaning and import?”

The series of four experiments include:

Manifesto

An intimate message composed in digital space

Bill T. Jones is famous for improvising with speech and movement in performance– deftly weaving together deeply personal stories, and commentaries on culture. Manifesto allows the user to create a trail of words that respond to their movements in real-time. If you exit your camera’s frame of vision, the trail of words will suspend on screen. With this process, you can compose a statement, a poem, or letter to someone you know. Jones has his dancers use this experiment to tell stories about their lives or write a letter to someone.

The Game

A kinetic conversation

This concept was discovered accidentally when Jones’ dancers began playing with a glitch in PoseNet that allowed them to “steal” the shape rendered on screen from one another by modulating their poses. Inspired by their experimentation, Jones asked them to think of three words with strong relationships to each other that would imbue this new game with meaning and weight. This game begins with his chosen triad: “lover, stranger, friend,” but you are encouraged to enter your own collection of words to give The Game more significance to you.

Hold That Thought

A soliloquy with digital props

Inspired by Jones’ work with language and movement, this experiment started as a visual pun on the significance of speech. As the words you say appear on screen, they become part of your body and are affected by your movements. While developing this experiment, Jones prompted his dancers to speak and feel the physicality of the words in the stories they tell. Hold That Thought invites you to speak freely while contending with your words as if they were physical objects that you can enlarge, shrink, or tilt with your movements.

Naming Things: Approaching 21

A new way to experience one of the most iconic pieces in the history of American dance

Debuting in 1983, 21 has become one of Bill T. Jones’ signature works. Jones cycles through 21 poses with spoken titles and improvised associations in a commentary on the body and its symbolism in culture. This dynamic performance is rooted in the time and space in which it is delivered. It is never executed the same way twice, making it impossible to archive. This experience, Naming Things: Approaching 21, is a complement to the live performance. This experience pays homage to the structure of 21 and allows you to experience each section uniquely. First, you watch him perform each pose. Second, you participate in the piece and must match his pose to advance the video and learn each poses’ title–a function powered by Google PoseNet. Last, you hear Jones’ reflections on the piece.

This project is an example of an innovative, socially responsible application of AI and even more specifically, the use of AI to explore and better understand the black and LGBTQ+ experience through art and dance.

Netflix to Create More Interactive Content Following ‘Black Mirror: Bandersnatch’

Following the success of Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, streaming giant Netflix has officially announced it will be releasing more interactive content in the near future.

Though choose-your-own-adventure storylines have existed for quite sometime in the entertainment field, there’s no doubt Charlie Brooker’s hit anthology show has helped to bring it into the mainstream.

During a webcast to investors, Netflix’s chief product officer Greg Peters has confirmed the company is interested in pursuing more interactive stories, stating, “You should anticipate we’ll do more of those as we start to explore that format.” Chief content officer Ted Sarando also added, “We’ve got a hunch that [the interactive format] works across all kinds of storytelling and some of the greatest storytellers in the world are excited to dig into it.” Watch Netflix’s earning Q4 earnings video below and let us know in the comment section if you are looking forward to more interactive content.

For those who have yet to try out the choose-your-own-adventure episode, head over to Netflix to find out which ending of Bandersnatch you conclude with.

“Budgetnista” Helps Create Financial Literacy Law for Kids in New Jersey

Last Thursday, acting New Jersey governor Sheila Oliver signed a new law requiring financial literacy education for New Jersey’s middle school students. New Jersey assembly woman Angela V. McKnignt and personal finance expert Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche were both key in getting the legislation passed.

According to NJ.com, the new law, (A1414) says “the lessons should provide students with knowledge to make ‘sound financial decision-making,’ with content on budgeting, savings, credit, debt, insurance, investment, and more.”

“Many young people go into adulthood knowing little about finances and end up making decisions that cost them in the long run,”  Assemblywoman McKnight said to NJSpotlight.com.

“Teaching our kids early about the importance of managing their money and making sound financial decisions can prevent them from making costly mistakes and set them on the right financial path.”

On her Instagram, Aliche outlined how she came to work with Assemblywoman McKnight on the bill.

“3 years ago, HISTORY was set in motion… Assemblywoman Angela V. McKnight @aswmcknight reached out to me and asked for my help with a financial literacy bill. That meeting took place at a Starucks in Dec. 2015, and yesterday after years of hard work, committee meetings, follow-ups, social media pushes, and an initial veto by our former Governor, WE HAVE A LAW! Angela is a POWERHOUSE and worked to make sure this day happened despite the many setbacks. The law takes effect during the next school year, Sept. 2019. Woot woot!”

Aliche, who most recently appeared as a guest on the BLACK ENTERPRISE personal finance podcast “Your Money Your Life,” says similar legislation is being considered in Texas and Maryland.

Currently, few states—only 17—require high school students to take a course in personal finance, yet the Council of Economic Education survey states that the country’s low level of financial knowledge exacerbated the effects of the Great Recession.

Black financial literacy is critical for African American economic well-being. For instance, nearly half (49%) of all black borrowers default on their student loans within 12 years of entering college.

Fun fact: It took 24 frames to create a single second of filmed animation for the 1964 TV special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Great bouncing icebergs, indeed.

A far cry from the stop-motion projects of yesteryear, modern animated works are created using (much more efficient) tools such as Adobe After-Effects, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro. The development of those tools and other technologies — such as augmented and virtual reality — have made animation one of the fastest-growing divisions of the global media and entertainment markets, according to one research firm.

5 Composers Who Should Create Music for Amazon’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ Series

Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films set the bar high for any adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic trilogy and one of the best aspects of the films was composer Howard Shore’s beautiful music. His music helped us feel like we were in Middle-earth, setting the tone for the adventure we watched unfold on screen. The three soundtracks are undoubtedly among Shore’s finest work and continue to be classics to this day, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible for someone else to give us the next great soundtrack for Tolkien’s world. In fact, we’re eager to see who might tackle it next in Amazon’s upcoming series.

While we’re still low on details for the show, we’ve been wondering who might play the young Aragorn the series may be about, and what else would be great to see explored on the series. Naturally we’re also thinking about which composers should try to create the epic soundtrack for this new journey to Middle-earth. It will be no easy task composing music for the world that was given an amazing score with Shore, but there are quite a few we think can bring something new and just as impressive to the music for this new story.

These are the five TV composers we want considered to bring their talent to the music of the series.

Ramin Djawadi

If there’s another composer that knows all about creating a stirring fantasy soundtrack, it’s Ramin Djawadi. He’s scored one of the most memorable TV soundtracks ever for Game of Thrones. The title music is recognizable in just the first few notes and his work completely captures the feeling of Westeros. That’s not the only acclaimed HBO series he’s worked on either. Westworld can also thank Djawadi for the amazing music that accompanies us on an unforgettable sci-fi journey.

These might be the best examples for why Djawadi would be a perfect fit for tackling Tolkien’s world, but if that wasn’t enough he’s worked on shows like Prison Break and Person of Interest too as well as on equally ambitious scores for movies like Pacific Rim and Iron Man. The Emmy-award winning composer would be more than up to the challenge of a Lord of the Rings series and we’d be excited to see what he could come up with for it!

Bear McCreary

Remember the incredible score that guided us on the journey of the rebooted Battlestar Galactica? That was Bear McCreary. McCreary is one of the best TV composers in the business. He’s composed memorable music for many shows including The Walking Dead, Outlander, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. His work is often unique, striking, and stays with you long after you hear it.

McCreary’s TV credits alone show why he would be a great choice for Amazon’s series. For more proof though you can listen to his soundtracks for the video game God of War and the movie 10 Cloverfield Lane. From space to the zombie apocalypse, can you imagine how amazing his take on a Middle-earth soundtrack would be?

Murray Gold

Murray Gold worked in the wibbly wobbly, timey wimey universe of Doctor Who from the first revival season in 2005 to the end of the Twelfth Doctor’s run last year. Much of his Doctor Who music became unforgettable additions to the classic sci-fi franchise that perfectly captured the spirit of the show. His experience composing for the many different settings in time and space that the Doctor traveled to with his companions in the TARDIS would make him a very interesting choice for Amazon’s new show.

Not only did he work on Doctor Who for more than a decade, he also composed the themes for Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures as well as additional music for Torchwood. When you listen to these pieces you can see how Gold moves between different styles that fit each show to create compelling music for TV. We think if he had the chance to hop from the TARDIS to the Shire he could make something truly memorable!

Trevor Morris

Transporting listeners into thrilling stories with music is common for Trevor Morris. Morris has a lot of experience creating distinctive soundtracks for a range of TV series. You’ll hear his work on shows like Vikings, Reign, The Tudors, Iron Fist, and Castlevania. His work beyond TV on the video game Dragon Age Inquisition is another example of why he would be an excellent choice for The Lord of the Rings series. It’s a wonderful, exciting game soundtrack you’ll find yourself listening to again and again.

The Emmy-award winning composer can clearly work with any setting to create extraordinary music. It’s why if he’s at the helm of the soundtrack you’ll want the new show to visit every setting in Middle-earth just to see what he might compose for it.

Danny Elfman

Danny Elfman might be more familiar to you for his work in film. The movies he works on are often those where you immediately recognize the music. There are almost too many of these to list, but some of his best work can be found in Batman, Beetlejuice, Men in Black, and Spider-Man. While he continues to create amazing movie soundtracks, he’s created remarkable TV music as well which is why he should definitely be considered to work on The Lord of the Rings series. On TV, The Simpsons, Desperate Housewives, and The Flash themes were all Elfman.

With that in mind, just imagine the direction he’d go for The Lord of the Rings! It would be the perfect mix of something different from Shore’s soundtrack yet still capturing the right essence needed for the Tolkien-inspired series.

The new Lord of the Rings show is set to go into production in 2019.

Brad Pitt Is Sure That Angelina Jolie Is Going To Create Drama When It Comes To The Holidays

More than two years after they separated, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are still in the middle of their nasty divorce and custody battle, and a new report claims it is going to be a drama-filled holiday season for the former couple. Could the strange move Jolie’s lawyers made this past week be an indication of unusual things to come?

According to Radar Online, one of Jolie’s lawyers, Joseph Mannis, took the odd step of filing a formal motion with the court to notify them that he will be out of town for a week at Thanksgiving and two weeks at Christmas.

Because of this, Mannis has requested that the court doesn’t have any hearings between Jolie and Pitt during those times.

“Brad’s lawyers are going to ignore something that comes up with the kids that needs immediate attention from the court just because Joe is on vacation?” asked an insider.

The source says that the Once Upon A Time in Hollywood star is concerned that his ex will be ready “to stir up drama” during the holiday season and is going to continue her attempts to make Pitt look like the bad guy, especially if he needs to go to court while her attorney isn’t in town.

However, Pitt isn’t going to let Jolie’s antics keep him from spending time with their six children, says the insider.

Jolie recently made things even worse with Pitt when she threw out a bunch of items that he had left with the kids. The source says that Pitt left antiques, family heirlooms, and sentimental trinkets like old toys with the kids, and when Jolie found them, she threw them all out “without hesitation.”

Even though the divorce drags on, Pitt has moved on and is dating. However, the chances of him walking the red carpet with another celebrity are pretty small, says a pal. Friends do think that Pitt will marry again, but they think he will end up with a woman who has a lower profile.

Insiders say that these last two years have been a nightmare for the actor. And, after decades of relationships with women like Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Juliette Lewis, Pitt wants to keep things more private instead of having a public relationship.

Sources say that Pitt is enjoying hanging out with his friends and meeting women through people he trusts, but his top priorities at the moment are his children, his work, and getting some sense of normalcy. He is casually dating, but right now everything is about the kids.

Brad Pitt has stayed relatively quiet since his split from Angelina Jolie, making only two public statements. An insider says he is trying to do what is best for his kids, but he is hurt. Ultimately, his friends want him to find peace and love again.
