Although, we’re seeing rapper Waka Flocka and Tammy Rivera work through their marital issues on the WE channel’s current season of Marriage Bootcamp: Hip Hop Edition, the two are clearly committed to making their marriage work til’ death to them part. The couple recently shared a few glimpses into their wedding ceremony in Mexico which took place over the weekend.
Rivera took to social media showing off a huge ring that the “Hard in da Paint” artist gave her. She shared that the pair were actually legally married five years ago, but hadn’t yet had a ceremony. The two have been very vocal with fans about their up’s and down’s in the relationship including infidelity on both parts and arguments which have included Rivera pulling out a gun in the past, but it seems as if the two are on much better path.
The 32-year-old rapper recently opened up to Rolling Out magazine sharing the key to him and Rivera’s relationship is a solid foundation of friendship, which had been able to withstand all of the drama:
“Tammy is my best friend as long as it’s the two of us I’m good. Before she and I got together I never even listened to love songs. After we separated and got back together, I started listening to R&B and understanding the lyrics and everything.”
“I could live without her as my girl but I couldn’t live without her as my best friend. When she cut that off it really messed me up. At first I thought she wasn’t gonna cut me all the way off — but when she did, it threw me off.”
Rivera also says the friendship is what allows them to work on their marriage every single day:
“We go through it but when you are with your soulmate and that’s your best friend it makes everything worth it. You can get through a lot more with someone that is really your best friend as opposed to someone you are just with for the sake of being in a relationship.”
