And though Cyber Monday has emerged as a way to get around the madness of Black Friday, historically speaking the summer has been a deal dead zone.

All that changed in 2015 with the first Amazon Prime Day. It originally started as a way to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary with a day of big sales. These sales served as exclusives to Prime members and as a means to bring in more Prime sign ups. Exclusive Interview with Man Who Alleges Sean Spicer Called Him N-Word

A video went viral this week after a black man angrily confronted former White House press secretary Sean Spicer at a bookstore.

The video shows Spicer seated, signing copies of his new book at a bookstore in Middletown, Rhode Island. A black man standing a few feet away suddenly calls out to him and says, “Remember you tried to fight me?” Others in the store start chuckling—perhaps thinking the two were engaging in playful banter. Then the man says, “But you called me a nigger first” and the crowd’s mood instantly changes.

The black man in the video is Alex Lombard. He is accusing Sean Spicer of calling him the n-word and with trying to attack him when they both were high school students at Portsmouth Abbey, a boarding school in Rhode Island. In an interview with Black Enterprise, he goes into detail about his memory of Spicer, his subsequent conversation with the former press secretary after the incident, and why he felt the need for the confrontation.

“The first week I was [at Portsmouth Abbey] I was coming to chapel like we had to do every morning,” Lombard recalls. “I’m just walking and I hear somebody screaming ‘What is that f—–g nigger doing here?”

Lombard says he then looked to his left and saw someone running at him at full sprint, someone he insists was Sean Spicer. At the time, Lombard was a sophomore and Spicer, a junior.

“A couple of other students grabbed him and stopped him and he was screaming something else. That was really, basically it. I was frozen,” Lombard remembers. “I was scared; it frightened me. There were at least 20 to 30 other people out there—all of us walking. Everybody had on sports jackets, ties, shirts. I just made my way back to the dorm.”

Spicer, who is denying the incident took place, says he has plans to sue the Associated Press for reporting on the heated exchange at the bookstore.

“That’s a classic Trump move; suing the media,” says Lombard. His recollection is quite detailed about what took place at his school that day many years ago and his account comes across as credible. Lombard says Spicer even called him after the bookstore confrontation, and suspects he got his number from a mutual friend of theirs.

“He called me from a blocked number. The incident happened Friday…he called me Saturday evening.”

“When he called he was at the cusp of apologizing. He was right there at the threshold and he sounded extremely apologetic on the phone but he would not admit that was him,” Lombard says. “He said you are trying to hurt me because of your political [beliefs]—he said why are you waiting years later to do this, why now, am I over it, can I get over this?”

He says that the call ended on a peaceful note with Spicer somewhat bizarrely praising him with “you handled that situation better than a lot of people.”

Spicer, of course, is notorious for his combativeness during White House press briefings. Bullying in his youth seems to be in line with the behavior he exhibited during these briefings, including the time he “lambasted reporters with accusations of false reporting on the size of the crowds during the inauguration,” as per The Boston Globe.  His old boss has raised bullying to an art form. The president and those currently and formerly in his circle seem to adhere to the idea of strong-arming as a form of governing.

Even in his new memoir, The Briefing, critics observe that Spicer retains a pugnacious tone. “He rummages through the mistakes of major news outlets during the Trump era. The Washington Post, The New York Times, ABC News, CNN, and others are criticized for false reports or suspect claims, such as the time Spicer stood accused—falsely, he says—of expropriating a mini-refrigerator from junior staff members,” writes Erik Wemple for The Washington Post.

Still, Lombard, now married and a teacher and adviser at a community college, insists his action at the bookstore was not politically motivated and that accosting Spicer made him “absolutely” feel better  “I was just waiting to get [this] off my chest. I had been emailing [Spicer] on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and he never responded. This was nothing ever political, this was some townie stuff, you know what I mean? This was personal. We live in the same town and maybe it wasn’t the best forum I chose to confront him, but I was upset.”

Exclusive: Kenya Moore Is Being ‘Punished’ for Getting Married and Hiding Her Husband Last Season, Offered a 90% Pay Cut to Return to ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’

There’s been a lot of back and forth regarding Kenya Moore’s return to ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ and we’re here to tell you exactly what’s going on.

A source close to production exclusively tells lovebscott.com:

“Bravo execs are demanding Kenya film her pregnancy journey with her husband and stay on a full ‘housewife’ filming schedule, but punish her by cutting her salary 90% and paying her as a ‘friend’. We’re told her husband has agreed to film this season only to support Kenya but they won’t give her a fair contract. All this because they want to publicly humiliate Kenya for not getting married on TV and her husband for not filming the entire season.”

A source close to Kenya says She’s in talks with 3 networks to do a spin-off now if Bravo refuses to pay her what she deserves.

On a related note — it’s been a few weeks since cameras began rolling for ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ season 11 and the cast shake-up isn’t quite delivering what producers were hoping for.

Sources exclusively tell lovebscott.com that in terms of storylines we can expect more of the same.

As expected, NeNe Leakes’ primary focus thus far is Gregg’s cancer battle. The ladies are rallying around NeNe offering their support and she just doesn’t have time for drama.

Cynthia Bailey is dating a new man.

Porsha Williams is also ‘dating’ a new man. Our sources say he’s a drug dealer from Detroit.

Kandi Burruss has the most going on, but as always it’s business related. She and Todd are opening a new OLG and she’s still doing shows with Xscape.

Eva Marcille is said to be showing up high for every event and the girls are over it. Now that she has given birth, she’s busy planning her upcoming wedding to Michael Sterling.

A few months ago we exclusively told you that two new ladies were testing to join the group. Our sources say Tanya actually declined to sign the newly-revised ‘standard contract’ so she’s no longer filming. Shamari DID sign the new contract and she’s still testing. It’s too early to tell how important Shamari will be to the season or if she’ll even make the cut at all.

That’s all the tea we have for now. Be sure to listen and subscribe to ‘The B. Scott Show’ podcast for more on your favorite celebrities!

EXCLUSIVE: ‘13 Reasons Why’ Actor Defends Season 2’s Most Controversial Scene

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Season 2 of 13 Reasons Why. Proceed at your own risk.

When 13 Reasons Why exploded with Season 1, it wasn’t just because fans loved it. Which they did. It was also because of the controversy it stirred.

In Season 1, the show tackled toxic high school culture, rape and teen suicide – with some scenes pretty graphic and hard-hitting, particularly for a teen show. Some of the series’ critics felt that the way in which the topics were handled wasn’t all that responsible. But if anything, in Season 2 the shock value is upped. This time, the creative forces behind the show have been especially careful to issue clear and frequent warnings about its content, coupled with advice on where to seek help should the show’s subject matter affect you. Some Twitter users have issued trigger warnings for sexual assault victims and urged people not to watch.

‘Don’t watch it if it offends you’ seems to be the motto of Netflix, the service which airs the show. CEO Reed Hastings said: “It is controversial. But nobody has to watch it. We’re an on-demand service, and we feel great about the possibility of season 3 and look forward to supporting the team’s work in that.”

It will come as no surprise, perhaps, that Season 3 has since been greenlit. And that’s despite a particularly graphic and harrowing scene in the season finale which sees school baseball star and bully Montgomery de la Cruz brutally assault outsider Tyler Down. You can read a description of what happens in that scene here.

FANDOM caught up with Timothy Granaderos, who plays Montgomery in 13 Reasons Why, and asked him why it was important to include the scene in the season finale.

Deliberately Provocative

13 Reasons Why
Timothy Granaderos' Monty confronts Devin Druid's Tyler.

“It was part of the inciting incident for Devon’s character Tyler to carry out his plan at the end. So, for the story it makes sense. But also, it’s a subject matter that we don’t really talk about. Male-on-male sexual assault happens more than we realise and it’s an issue that I think needs to be addressed and talked about,” says Granaderos.

Season 2 ends with Tyler planning and almost carrying out a horrifying school shooting. He’s talked down by Dylan Minette’s Clay Jensen outside the doors to the school.

Granaderos believes that the show is deliberately provocative.

“Obviously there’s some controversy around our show but all the issues that we deal with are tough subject matters to speak on, so if we can get a conversation started about those things then that’s what we intend to do. In a real and honest way too,” he says.

He says that being a part of the show has “opened my eyes to the idea that as actors, we’re more than just entertainers.”

One of the criticisms directed at the series is that the attack seems to come from nowhere, which makes it doubly shocking. Granaderos offers his thoughts on why his character carried out the horrific attack.

“In preparation, I did research and I tried to figure out why he did it. I found that the root of his actions was pain,” he says. “He had all this pain and displaced anger from the baseball team’s season being cancelled and, you know, his ‘brother’ Bryce basically breaking up with him, and he didn’t know where to go or who to turn to. So he dealt with it in the only way he knew how — and that was physically abusing someone who he felt was weaker and [who] he blamed for part of his pain.”

Sweaty Palms

Grenaderos admits that he wasn’t surprised at the reaction to the savage attack they depicted on screen. And, in fact, he had a very telling physical reaction to the scene after reading it in the script.

“I didn’t know about [the scene] until later on in the season,” he says. “Our showrunner approached me a couple of episodes out and asked me if it was something I’d be comfortable doing. And at that point in time, that scene was just a pitch, it wasn’t even confirmed that it was going to be in the script. He just wanted to make sure I was comfortable doing it. So, I knew it was coming and it was shocking when I read it. I remember just turning the pages and my palms were sweating.”

At some point, he says, everyone was “all on the same page” and the scene was shot, and included.

“Going into it we felt very prepared,” he says. “We had a safety meeting where Devin [Druid, who plays Tyler] and I spoke with the producers and our director as well as the stunt coordinator how everything was going to play out. They showed us storyboards of the space and the shot so all the technicalities were clear in our mind before we went into the scene. They also allowed us to ask any questions we had.”

If their plan with Season 3 is to up the ante once again, it’s going to be a tough call to include anything more shocking than Montgomery’s horrendous sexual assault on Tyler. But if 13 Reasons Why is indeed a show that sets out to provoke, you can bet they’ll try.

13 Reasons Why Season 2 is available to stream now on Netflix.

Something wicked this way comes: street artist Eelus launches a new and exclusive 3D collectable.

As the new Star Wars movie hits the big screens, Brighton-based artist Eelus returns to turn ‘Shat-At’ – an early print inspired by the sci-fi series – into his first sculptural work for artrepublic

Drawing inspiration from pop culture, film, graphic design and art history, Eelus has gained a reputation for creating striking images that often play on the macabre. Intertwining colourful backdrops with monochromatic figures, the street artist points to the necessary interplay between mood, emotions and light and dark. But how does these stylistic traits translate into a three-dimensional form? We catch up with the artist ahead of his new release to find out more…

Your latest sculpture is based on one of your earliest works what inspired the original print?

I’ve always been a big fan of Star Wars and I’d had this idea rattling around my noggin for years that was originally intended to be just a fun t-shirt design. Then I started stencilling back in 2001 and I made the image that you know now and started to paint it around East London where I lived and hung out. It was one of my first ever stencils and then went on to be my first ever screen print edition with Pictures On Walls (RIP).

Yes its sad that POW is no more, it launched the careers of many artists. Where do you think young artists can go now to get published or do you think things are more egalitarian so people no longer need someone like POW to launch their career?

I think now with the rise of free social media platforms like Instagram and easy do-it-yourself websites it’s so easy to get your work out there without going through a gallery or a publisher. It’ll probably take you a little longer to build a solid following, but you don’t need many people to get the ball rolling (‘1000 True Fans’ is an interesting article on this by Kevin Kelly). If you concentrate on the quality of the work above all else, everything else will follow in it’s own time.

What then lead you into turning SHAT-AT from a 2D print into a 3D sculpture?

I wanted to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the release with something special. It’s taken so long to get the sculptures finished and the whole project to a standard that I’m happy with, I’m a couple of years late, but there you go.

Did you have an AT-AT walker when you were a child, and did you use one in the creation of your sculpture?

I absolutely did, and still do, it’s in my studio. I had a model-maker create one from scratch during the original sculpt but in the end I decided to have one 3D printed and we made a mould from that.

They fall over very easily do you think it is a good design to use for a battle vehicle?

In terms of it’s use as tank, I think it’s pretty good. They’re intimidating for a start, seeing those plod over the horizon toward you you’d probably feel the same as a Roman solider seeing a Carthaginian war elephant for the first time. You’d be terrified.

Why do you think Star Wars has left such an impression on our popular culture and do you think it will survive the test of time?

The basic storyline that runs through the films is one that we’ve been telling for thousands of years, It’s the classic archetype of the ‘Hero’s Journey’ and is timeless. It’s an age-old narrative regurgitated as a science fiction spaghetti western set in another galaxy and it was released in a time when the idea of movie merchandising was about explode. So the characters and the story escaped the screen and entered our lives in ways we’d never seen before. The kids of the late 70’s, early 80’s went crazy for it, or at least an awful lot of us did, I did.

I think the original films, for me anyway, will stand the test of time. A lot of the new ones will fall by the wayside as far as I’m concerned, especially now there’s one coming out every year it seems. The excitement is being diluted, the whole thing is losing its magic. Or maybe I’m just getting old? I can’t wait to see what my daughter makes of it all when she’s old enough.

Who is you favourite Star Wars character from the original three films?

Unquestionably Yoda. You watch Empire and Jedi now and he looks a bit shit compared to what we’ve all become used to with the developments of CGI, but he’s still a rock solid character that you believe in 100%. CGI can be great but I wish there were more current films using in-camera puppets like they did in films like Star Wars, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal etc.

Would you like to have Yoda living in your house?

Yeah why not. Constant wisdom from my own little green guru.

All of your works have a sci-fi element to them, what’s your favourite work of science fiction?

I wouldn’t say all, but a lot do. My all time favourite would be H.G Well’s War Of The Worlds. I was introduced to it by my grandparents when I was very young and it has real sentimental value, to the point where I have a martian tripod and a line from the book tattooed on my arm. I also have a small collection of various editions of the book all with different cover designs. You may sound the nerd alarm now if you so wish.

Has the experience of producing work changed over the years as you moved into working as an artist full time?

Sure. When I started I was creating purely for myself with little thought to financial reward and so the creative process was a lot more relaxed and free as I had the safety net of a full time job to fall back on.

Then around 10 years ago I quit my job and made art full time, and with that comes the fear and anxieties that situation brings, when every day is a hustle of one kind or another just to make sure you’re making ends meet. That situation can often have an effect on the work you produce as you need to survive; and selling work, getting paid, these are boxes that need to be ticked each and every week in one way or another to allow me to live the life I like to live. I’ve been broke and in debt before and it’s not for me.

I consider myself lucky to be able to produce and sell work reasonably easy and bring money home to support my family, and to do that, sometimes a big ‘crowd pleaser’ of a print is produced. I then have a little space and time to relax and create more personal works. It’s the same as making movies, you make a big budget action or 2 and then go away to work on more niche indie films. But I definitely feel like I’m taking steps towards making all of my work more honest and personal. I think a lot of that is coming from caring less what people think of me and my work as I get older. There’s a calming reassurance in that.

Art is often a hobby and used to escape from work, what do you to escape form work and wind down?

I don’t think I ever truly escape as my mind is always mulling some kind of madness over, it’s inescapable. But generally I read a lot, watch movies, hang out with my girlfriend and our daughter, dance in the kitchen. A dense green forest is where I’m at my most calm.
