You’ll never guess who the new face of L’Oréal Paris is…

loreal paris celine dion

Céline Dion, everyone’s favourite diva, has been named the newest L’Oréal Paris spokesperson and we are all for it.

The five-time Grammy award winner joins the impressive, and not to mention diverse, line up of brand ambassadors that L’Oréal Paris have always advocated. In comparison to other well-know household brands, L’Oréal Paris have always championed the use of older women in their campaigns; Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore to name a few, and Dion joins the roll call at the age of 51.

loreal paris celine dion

L’Oréal Global Brand President, Pierre-Emmanuel Angelogiou, explains why Dion is the perfect fit: ‘Signing Céline Dion as the newest member of the L’Oreal Paris family builds our mission of aligning with spokeswomen who are strong, self-empowered, assertive, diverse and inclusive. Céline Dion is a woman of innate self-worth – following her heart to achieve success, challenge stereotypes and trailblaze the path for so many other women – and fully embodies our brand mission of ‘Because I’m Worth it.”

Dion, who famously does her own makeup for appearances, has been using the brand for years, ‘I really see L’Oréal Paris beyond beauty products, beyond colors, beyond care. You feel confident, whatever your achievement is. You feel feminine and empowered, expressing your inner strength. All of this means we are worth it. We need to give ourselves the credit we deserve.’

loreal paris celine dion

Her L’Oréal Paris partnership comes as she concludes her hit Las Vegas show, where she has been performing for eight years. ‘When you think I’m done, I’m just starting,’ Dion said in an interview with L’Oréal. ‘I’ve never felt so beautiful, strong, and I feel that the best is yet to come. Today is the beginning of the rest of my life and I don’t want to go back in time, I am going forward.’

You can catch Dion’s first TV advert on 22nd April, when it premieres worldwide. She kicks off this next chapter as the face of Excellence Hair Colour.

10 Common Health Issues Entrepreneurs Face

There are many perks of being the head honcho, but the toll of pursuing success in entrepreneurship can also be enormous if you don’t protect your biggest asset: your well-being. Below are 10 common health issues entrepreneurs face:

1. Depression: In a recent landmark study by Dr. Michael Freeman, a clinical professor at UCSF and entrepreneur, 49% of the more than 240 entrepreneurs surveyed reported having a mental-health condition, with depression as the No. 1 reported condition among them.

2. Anxiety: Dr. Freeman’s study also indicated that 27% of entrepreneurs surveyed indicated issues with anxiety. That’s more than the whole U.S. population, (at a rate of 18.1%.)

3. Addiction: Recent research has found that habitual entrepreneurs display symptoms of behavioral addiction similar to other traditional behavioral addictions, such as gambling or internet usage. Symptoms can include obsessive thoughts and sometimes there are negative emotional outcomes such as guilt, high levels of strain, and abuse of foods, alcohol or even drugs.

4. Hypertension/Heart Disease: It’s no secret that being responsible for the financial prosperity of others as well as the overall success of a business can be quite stressful. High stress has been shown to temporarily heighten blood pressure and can trigger habits such as unhealthy eating which can lead to heart disease.

5. Lack of Health Insurance: A recent Gallup-Healthways analysis conducted for The New York Times found entrepreneurs are less likely to have health insurance, with solopreneurs in particular often have to choose between covering everyday necessities vs. paying high monthly insurance premiums.

6. Joint and Circulation Challenges: Entrepreneurs have been found to work 63% longer than the average worker, and many spend a lot of that time at a desk, behind a computer or on their smartphones: a welcome environment for circulation and joint challenges.

7. Sleeping Disorders: With a large percentage of founders working at least 52 hours per week (with some even working a whopping 70 hours), there’s not much time left for sleep. Experts recommend 6 to 8 hours of sleep a day, but entrepreneurs working long hours are getting more like 4 to 6 hours. Also issues like insomnia and jet lag are common with busy CEOs.

8. Vision-Related Problems: The average adult spends 11 hours per day on gadgets, and entrepreneurs are more than attached to their smartphones, laptops and computers. And there actually is a such thing as computer vision syndrome, also referred to as digital eye strain.

9. Migraines: Of course, being an entrepreneur doesn’t directly cause migraines, however, many of the triggers for them have been found to be a weekly norm for ambitious startup stars.

10. Sexual Health: Stress, anxiety and depression have all been linked to issues such as erectile dysfunction and hormone suppression in women. They can also have an opposite effect, leading to unsafe sexual behavior which can lead to risk for STDs.

Kim Kardashian just revealed her ‘psoriasis face’ in a make up free selfie

And she’s not the first Kardashian-Jenner to voice her skin complaints this year…

Kim Kardashian Diet

The Kardashian-Jenners’ image is perfection, from flawless skin to unrealistic hourglass figures, but this year, they seem to have been showing a more relatable side.

Yes, when it comes to skin complaints, even the Kardashian-Jenners aren’t immune.

Kendall Jenner has been very open about her struggle with acne and the skin shaming that comes along with it, criticised at last year’s Golden Globes for her acne, something she explained as difficult when growing up as a Kardashian.

View this post on Instagram

While there are much bigger problems happening in the world, suffering from acne for me was debilitating. It’s something that I’ve dealt with since I was a young teen and has caused me to feel anxious, helpless and insecure. As humans, I don’t think we share our insecurities enough because we live in a time where being “perfect” is the standard. We curate our life online and pick the pretty moments to post. I’d like to show a younger generation that not everything is perfect. Being insecure about my acne gave me thick skin but I wouldn’t ever wish that feeling upon anyone so after trying countless options, I found something that has been helpful in maintaining clear skin for me. It’s been a long journey but I’m excited for where my skin is now. I didn’t think I’d see the day where I would feel confident posting a makeup free picture. My goal is to open up a dialogue around skin positivity. ❤

A post shared by Kendall (@kendalljenner) on

‘That was also kind of a tough thing for me,’ she explained. ‘To look at my beautiful sisters with beautiful skin and be like, ‘Okay, well, why me? What’s wrong with me?”’

Older sister Kim however has posted an honest photo of herself this week on her Insta Stories, bringing attention to her psoriasis, a skin condition that causes red, flaky patches of skin.

Uploading two photos to her Insta Stories this week, Kim showed her psoriasis flare up.

But it’s not the first time the 38-year-old has opened up about the skin condition, with the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star announcing in 2016 that she wasn’t going to hide her condition anymore.

‘Sometimes I just feel like it’s my big flaw and everyone knows about it, so why cover it?’ She explained. ‘I’m always hoping for a cure, of course, but in the meantime, I’m learning to just accept it as part of who I am.’

Yes, Kim.

The New England Patriots Will Face the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl 53 After Thrilling Overtime Game

Championship Sunday was unforgettable. And it’ll be a Super Bowl LIII for the ages.

Tom Brady, already the oldest quarterback to ever start a Super Bowl, will be back for his ninth trip to America’s greatest sporting spectacle, as his New England Patriots defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 37-31, in a thrilling overtime AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium. Jared Goff, 24, became the youngest quarterback to win an NFC title game; he led the Los Angeles Rams to a controversial 26-23 overtime road victory over the New Orleans Saints. Once again, New England and Los Angeles will face off for a title: just a few months ago, the Boston Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. The Celtics and Lakers have met a dozen times in the NBA Finals.

Pundits — ahem — hyped the Patriots-Chiefs game, thanks mostly to the quarterbacks: Brady is, well, Brady. Patrick Mahomes, of the Chiefs, is the future of football. But the game plan of Pats coach Bill Belichick, which involved lots of physicality and double teams of Kansas City’s best players, stymied Mahomes at the start; at one point midway through the second quarter, he had -5 passing yards. The Pats set the tone early with a methodical 15-play, 80-yard opening touchdown drive; Sony Michel, who rushed for 113 on the evening, scored on a one-yard run. Mahomes looked ready to break out in the second quarter, when he avoided a sack on third down to keep a drive alive, and uncorked a beauty to Tyreek Hill for a 42-yard gain. On the next play, however, he badly overthrew a wide open Damien Williams, who would have waltzed into the end zone. On third down, a New England sack took the Chiefs out of field goal range. On the next drive, Brady hit Phillip Dorsett for a 29-yard touchdown right before halftime, giving the Pats a 14-0 advantage, and sending the Chiefs into the locker room utterly demoralized.

The Chiefs, who scored more points this season than all but two other NFL teams in history, were shut out at home in the first half for the first time since Andy Reid took over as coach in 2013.

Kansas City fired back, however, in the second half. The Chiefs cut New England’s lead in half in just over two minutes; Mahomes connected with Sammy Watkins on a 54-yard pass play, then zipped a 12-yard touchdown pass to tight end Travis Kelce. A 47-yard Stephen Gostkowski field goal put the Pats up back up two scores. At the start of the fourth quarter, a New England pass interference penalty gave the Chiefs a first and goal from the one; Mahomes rolled to his right – no quarterback is better at throwing on the run — and hit Damien with a dart, cutting New England’s lead to 17-14.

With 8:39 left In the fourth quarter, the game hinged on the fingers of Julian Edelman: he seemed to muff a punt that the Chiefs recovered in New England territory. Replays, however, showed this thumb did not graze the ball: the Pats kept possession. But an ensuing Brady pass slipped through his fingertips; Daniel Sorensen corralled the interception at the New England 45 yard line. Damien Williams caught a short pass and sprinted to the end zone for a 23-yard score to give Kanas City a 21-17, its first lead of the game. The freezing fans at Arrowhead Stadium, now all warmed up, exploded.

The Pats, however, weren’t done. On a third and eight, Chris Hogan made an incredible one-handed catch to keep the drive alive. On a fourth and inches from the Kansas City 10, Michel found another seam and scampered into the end zone untouched. New England went back on top, 24-21.

Kansas City got the ball back with just over 3 minutes left, and Mahomes had his chance to pull a Brady by pulling out a playoff victory in dramatic fashion. New England helped him with holding and pass interference penalties. Mahomes hit Sammy Watkins on a 38 yard pass play, then Williams scored his third touchdown on a two-yard run, completing a 5-plays, 68 yard drive.

But Brady’s Brady. He got the ball back with under two minutes left, at his own 35-yard-line. We’ve seen him do this so many times. But it’s still stunning when he pulls off the comebacks. On a third down, after a Chiefs penalty negated a Brady interception that would have clinched it for Kansas City, Brady lobbed a perfect sideline pass to Rob Gronkowski, for a 25-yard reception. Rex Burkhead ran for a 4-yard touchdown, giving New England a 31-28 lead.

Mahomes, it turns out, is Mahomes. The Chiefs got the ball back with 39 seconds left. And one 21-yard and another 27-yard pass play later, Mahomes put the Chiefs in field goal range. Harrison Butker nailed a 39-yarder to send it into overtime, where the dizzying theater finally came to a close. The Pats won the toss, Brady twice hit Edelman over the middle of the field on third and long pass plays, and threw to Gronk on another, converting key first downs. A 2-yard Burkhead touchdown run won it.

Brady completed 30 of 46 passes, for 348 passing yards, with a touchdown pass and two interceptions. Mahomes was 16 for 31, for 295 yards. He finished the AFC title game with 3 touchdown tosses; Mahomes did not throw an interception.

The AFC championship game, which started out as a potential stinker, turned into a stone-cold classic. The NFC championship game also had the potential to go down as a classic. Instead, it somewhat ended in disgrace. The crowd noise at the Superdome in New Orleans caused the Rams all kinds of problems; often, Goff would have to run around the line of scrimmage, shouting the play into everyone’s ears. With the Saints up 13-0 in the first quarter, the game basically got going on a fake punt. On fourth down at LA’s own 30-yard-line, Johnny Hekker took the snap and tossed a pass to Sam Shields short of the first down marker. But Shields dodged a tackle to gain 12 yards, and keep the game alive for the Rams. The Rams converted a field goal, and right before halftime, Los Angeles completed a seven-play, 81-yard drive for their first touchdown — a six-yard run by Todd Gurley, the Los Angeles star running back who spent most of the first half on the sideline — stealing the Saints’ momentum as the teams entered the locker room with New Orleans now up by just 3 points, 13-10.

New Orleans, however, responded. On its first drive of the second half, the Saints marched 71 yards down field, and scored a touchdown on a sneaky 2-yard pass from Brees to Taysom Hill, the backup quarterback who does a little bit of everything for New Orleans. This time, he caught his first touchdown pass of the season. Not to be outdone, LA strung together a 70-yard drive of its own; Goff hit tight end Tyler Higbee for a one-yard score; Higbee put a finger by his mouth, asking the New Orleans crowd to be quiet already. It was now 20-17 Saints entering the fourth quarter.

The teams traded punts to start, until Goff connected on passes of 39 and 33 yards, to set up first and goal at the New Orleans 7-yard-line: the Saints defense, however, held LA out of the end zone: the Rams tied the game at 20-20 on a short field goal. New Orleans got the ball back with just under five minutes left, and right before the two-minute warning, Brees lofted a 43-yard pass downfield; Ted Ginn Jr. soared to snatch it out of the air, at the LA 13 yard-line.

Then came the turning point: On the ensuing 3rd and 10, Los Angeles cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman flew into Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis, like a missile, while Brees fired a pass in his direction: there could not have been a more obvious pass interference penalty. No one threw a flag. A fresh set of downs would have allowed the Saints to run down the clock and kick a short field goal to end the game. Instead, after a 31-yard-field goal by Wil Lutz gave New Orleans a 23-20 lead, the Rams got the ball back at their own 25, with 1:41 left, giving Goff plenty of time to get the Rams into field goal position. Give credit to Goff and the Rams for delivering. Greg Zuerlein made a clutch 48-yard field goal to send the game into overtime.

In the extra session, Rams linebacker Dante Fowler Jr. hit Brees on a pass play, sending the ball fluttering; John Johnson, who had fallen, intercepted the errant throw while on his back. Now, all LA needed was a field goal to go to Super Bowl LIIII; in spite of a bad snap, Hekker got the hold down, and Zuerlein nailed a 57-yarder that might have been good from 70. LA took its first lead of the game, and booked a trip to Atlanta.

Unfortunately, because of officiating incompetence, the Pats-Rams matchup feels a little tainted. The error should finally force the NFL to consider correcting obvious judgment calls. Everyone instantly saw the mishap, why not correct it?

Careers are at stake. These players have put their bodies on the line, their whole lives, in hopes of making a Super Bowl. Saints fans deserve better.

In two weeks, however, much of the grousing will be forgotten. Brady and Belichick will get another shot at a sixth championship, perhaps their last. The Rams, who three years ago moved back to Los Angeles from St. Louis, are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, from Goff and Gurley to Aaron Donald, the best defensive player in the game right now, and Ndamukong Suh, who recorded 1.5 sacks agains the Saints. The last time Brady faced the Rams in the Super Bowl, in New Orleans in 2002, the Pats notched an all-time upset, winning the game on a last-second field goal, and kicking off the Brady-Belichick dynasty.

What a time for an encore.

Roger Federer Says It’s ‘Exciting’ to Face Serena Williams in New Year’s Day Match-Up

(PERTH, Australia) — Roger Federer’s wish is about to be granted — he’s getting the chance to return Serena Williams’ powerful serve.

The famously unflappable Swiss acknowledges being excited about the prospect of taking on his fellow tennis great on Tuesday in a Hopman Cup mixed doubles match between Switzerland and the United States.

“I admire everything she has done both on and off the court,” Federer said. “I have always thought how is it to return that serve and go head-to-head with her.”

Federer made an impressive start in preparation for his Australian Open title defense with a seemingly effortless 6-1, 6-1 victory over Cameron Norrie on Sunday.

His playing partner Belinda Bencic also won to seal defending champion Switzerland’s victory over Britain in Group B.

Federer and Bencic will next take on Williams and Frances Tiafoe to kick-start the New Year with arguably the most anticipated match in the tournament’s three-decade history.

Tickets were sold out soon after being released for the showpiece encounter, which pits Federer and Williams on court for the first time. The 37-year-olds have won 43 Grand Slam singles titles between them.

“It’s very exciting for us. I hope tennis fans tune in and watch it because it’s going to be one time and probably never again in this type of competition,” Federer said.

By most people’s standards, the two stars have an unusual meeting place.

“I don’t know her that well. I only know her from some champions’ dinners at Wimbledon,” Federer said. “We have busy lives and a big entourage, so it’s rare to really deep dive. We can relate to each other more so now, being parents.”

Federer will head into the clash in form after a masterclass 57-minute thrashing of Norrie. The 20-time Grand Slam champion moved around the court well and hit the ball crisply to overwhelm Norrie.

“I was very happy that I was able to come out tonight and put in a good performance,” Federer said. “I was happy with all aspects of my game: footwork, offensive play, serve, return. It was all there.”

Pyjamas with your pet’s face on them are now a thing

We’ll take two, thanks

pet pyjamas

There was a lot of fun to be had with the personalised wrapping paper where you could get your own face printed all over the presents you bought people to remind them that you, too, are a gift.

But what if we told you that you can now get your pet’s face printed on a lovely pair of pyjamas? Because you can. It’s officially a thing.

Yes, you’ve probably been gifted a few pairs of pj’s over Christmas – thanks, mum – but the ultimate sleep wear is from Patricia’s Couture. The custom-made long-sleeve set has your fur baby’s face printed all over it so that you can be close to your little one at all times.

The website says: ‘We print all pets. So feel free to upload a picture of your rabbit, frog, hamster, fish, lizard, etc. All we ask is you own the rights or have permission to use the photo.’

And the fun doesn’t just stop at cosy pj’s – you can get your pet’s face printed on scarves, caftans, t-shirts and various other accessories.

Wearing your pet with pride will set you back a pretty penny, with the pyjama set coming in at around £110. But can you put a price on true fur baby love? Hmmm?

Trump could be the first president since Carter to face a recession while running for re-election

Until now, the special counsel's investigation has loomed as a singular threat to further erode the president's standing. But the uncertainty on display in gyrating financial markets this week has darkened expectations for Trump's last two years.

Cardi B Ordered to Appear in Court for Alleged Bartender Attack or Face Arrest

The judge presiding over the Cardi B strip club beatdown case isn’t playing around!

If she doesn’t show up in court, she WILL be arrested.

via TMZ:

Cardi’s legal team was in court Monday — without the rapper — for a hearing about the August incident. We’re told prosecutors expressed their frustration that Cardi herself was a no-show considering they’ve already given her a 6-week extension on the case … so they asked the judge to issue a bench warrant.

The judge denied the immediate request, but did issue a serious warning — Cardi must appear in court Friday morning — or there will most likely be a warrant issued.

Cardi’s defense team also revealed in court they’ve been having a tough time getting in touch with her directly — instead only communicating through Cardi’s management team — and only found out Thursday Cardi had a prior commitment that would prevent her from attending Monday’s hearing.

TMZ broke the story … Cardi is accused of unleashing her posse on 2 strip club bartenders — Jade and Baddie Gi — and badly injuring both. Jade told us … prior to the attack, Cardi had threatened her for months, accusing the two of sleeping with her husband, Offset.

Did we mention that these are the same bartenders Nicki Minaj recently featured in her “Good Form” music video?

NBA Player Terry Rozier Sued By Costume Company for Making Money Off ‘Scream’ Ghost Face Mask

(Terry Rozier Instagram)

Boston Celtics player Terry Rozier allegedly made a pretty large amount of cash from selling his own merchandise using the iconic mask from the movie, Scream.

But the creators of the mask believe they got ripped off, and now they reportedly want their cut. Rozier, who goes by the nickname, “Scary Terry,” has been selling shirts and sweatshirts featuring his slogan combined with the infamous mask from the 1996 thriller.

The Blast reports, Fun World costume company claims they are the original designer of the “Ghost Face Mask,” and officially licensed it for use in the slasher film and other movies.

The company reportedly says the Celtics player is using their design and copyright without permission, claiming he has, “adopted the Ghost Face Mask design as his own mascot and paired the design with his alter ego “Scary Terry,” The Blast reports.

Fun World accuses Rozier of ripping off their work and making a profit, and are reportedly suing for unspecified damages plus $ 150,000 per infringement.

‘The Cleaners’ shows the terrors human content moderators face at work

TwitterFacebook

“Out of sight, out of mind” doesn’t work when cleaning out the darkest corners of social media platforms.

That’s what the documentary The Cleaners, which airs Monday night on PBS, reveals about content moderators in the Philippines who are relentlessly bombarded with violent, graphic, and disturbing images and videos. Ahead of the TV release at a San Francisco screening, the filmmakers Hans Block and Moritz Riesewieck praised the subjects in the documentary for being “brave enough to talk to us.”

Manila has become a de facto headquarters for content moderation for some of the biggest social media and content services like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Google, Twitter, and others. But outsourcing the harmful work doesn’t eliminate the problem. Read more…

Merry Christmas from me (and me, and more me…)

personalised wrapping paper

Christmas is coming. Okay, we’ve still got eight weeks to go (not that we’re counting), but experts say that putting your decorations up early could make you happier – and when there are Harry Potter baubles to be bought and Prosecco Christmas crackers to put on ice then why wouldn’t you start the countdown immediately after bonfire night?

While you’ve no doubt already written your list for Santa, when it comes to buying for others it can get a bit tricky. Of course you know that you want these absolutely adorable stocking fillers, but what about your sister, or your other half, or your pet? What do they want?

If you’re really stuck when it comes to presents this year, why not give someone – or many people, for that matter – the gift of your face plastered all over some glitzy wrapping paper?

Gift website Prezzybox are selling the very personalised wrapping paper and we have to say, we’re big fans.

Sure, you’ll need something to wrap first, but it doesn’t really matter what the object is because the true present is immediately clear from the get go.

And they won’t forget who it’s from, either.

Just think of how happy you’ll be making somebody every time they look underneath the Christmas tree and see your face smiling back. You could even get them multiple small gifts so that your presence in their living room is really felt and hard to ignore.

A two-metre roll will set you back £17.99 – and there’s no excuse not to use it for everyone on your xmas list.

All you have to do is upload a photo of yourself and they’ll do the rest. Or you could get creative and make it strange by choosing a picture of the person you’re actually buying for. Or your dog! Who doesn’t want your pup’s face all over their wrapping paper?

The options are endless.

It’s a big yes from us.

Trump Comes Face to Face With His Nightmare: A News Cycle He Can’t Control

Photo Illustration by Kelly Caminero/The Daily Beast

Donald Trump is living a personal nightmare. Just days before a critical election, he finds himself unable to influence what the political press is covering.

The president has spent the last week attempting to gin up media coverage of a caravan of migrants making their way from Honduras to the Mexico-U.S. border. He’s heralded his signing of a major bill to combat the opioid epidemic. He’s touted additional—though currently nonexistent—legislation to further slash middle-class taxes.

But a series of real-world events—primarily the dispatch of explosive devices to numerous top Democratic officials by what appears to be an obsessive Trump fan— have overwhelmed that storyline. And it’s left Trump notably churlish.

Black Women Face High Risk, Dangers And Death Rates With Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October presents another opportunity to spread information about the disease and how it affects Black women. The disease is responsible for a high death rate in women of color, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Black women are 40 percent more likely to die from breast cancer despite doctors diagnosing the disease in African-American and white women at about the same rate, the CDC reported. Also, Black women are more often found to have triple-negative breast cancer, an aggressive type that frequently returns after treatment.

Age is also a big factor: breast cancer incidence rates were higher among African-American women younger than 60 years old but lower among those who are 60 or older.

One reason for this statistic could be that medical professionals tend to find this cancer at an earlier stage in white women.  Also, Black women may have inadequate medical care, including limited access to cancer screening technology.

Doctors encourage women, especially those at high risk due to a family history or having BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes, to get out ahead of the disease. Early detection measures such as mammograms and screenings are strongly recommended. Women can visit local hospitals that offer low-cost mammograms or call their local American Cancer Society chapter for help with screenings or doctor referrals.

In addition, researchers continue to look into why some women are more susceptible to triple-negative breast cancer, in order to find better treatment options.

Women can also choose a healthier lifestyle for a better chance of lowering risks for the disease. BreastCancer.org recommends exercise, a nutritious diet and avoiding smoking and alcohol as important in the battle against breast cancer — one that many women can win regardless of race.

Many women are speaking out to spread awareness about breast cancer and helping women to fight it. Serena Williams posted a powerful message about the disease recently.
