Fans of the show have been eagerly awaiting the start of the new series since the line-up was revealed last year.

Dancing On Ice bosses have made a number of big changes to the new series, including two new dancers and a revamp to the studio – after it was plagued with sound issues.

Host Phillip Schofield gave fans a sneak peek behind-the-scenes on his usual show, This Morning.

Speaking to hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, the 56-year-old said: “Happy New Year! It’s only right and proper that my first bit of TV I do after Christmas and New Year should be with you guys in This Morning.”

Panning round to give a full view of the studio and ice rink, the presenter told the hosts that they had a “brand new rink”.

He said: “It’s more substantial than it was last year, you may remember, we had a rattling problem with the howling winds, so we’ve rebuilt the studio.

“The studio audience has a capacity of 530 so it’s bigger than it was last year.”

Bookies have already picked their favourites to win the show with ex-Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton, 34, coming out on top.
