Trevor Noah Grills Bernie Sanders: Does America Really Need Another Old White Guy?

Comedy Central

By almost any measure, Senator Bernie Sanders is the frontrunner for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. But when he sat down with Trevor Noah on The Daily Show Thursday night, the host had one big question about his place in the field.

“This is an interesting time where this field is more diverse than ever before, but some people have said, all right, you have a diverse field, but it feels like the frontrunners are still old white men,” Noah said, citing Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden, who has not yet announced his candidacy.

“You’re not talking about me, are you?” Sanders joked.

Colbert Grills Tulsi Gabbard on Bashar Assad Defense

Scott Kowalchyk/CBS

Stephen Colbert got through a few pleasantries with Tulsi Gabbard on Monday night before getting to the question that is going to dog the Democrat from Hawaii for her entire run for the presidency in 2020.

As Gabbard, a veteran of the Iraq War, began to make her case against “regime change” by the United States around the world, the Late Show host jumped in with, “But if it is someone like Bashar al-Assad who gasses his own people or engages in war crimes against his own people, should the United States not be involved?”

“The United States should not be intervening to overthrow these dictators and regimes that we don’t like,” Gabbard said definitively, whether it is Assad or Saddam Hussein or Kim Jong Un or anyone else, because, she argued, history shows we only “end up increasing the suffering of the people in these countries.”

Jimmy Kimmel Grills Lady Gaga on Steamy Oscar Duet With Bradley Cooper

ABC

Jimmy Kimmel didn’t host the Oscars this year, but he did score the first big interview with Lady Gaga after she won for Best Original Song this past Sunday night. And yes, he asked her the one question that everyone wanted him to ask.

“This Sunday night, millions of women around the world became furious with their partners for never looking at them the way Bradley Cooper looked at our first guest during their show-stopping musical performance,” Kimmel said in his introduction.

After she sat down—and placed her Oscar on his desk—Kimmel got down the business.
