James Corden hosted the 73rd annual US theatre awards show against the backdrop of Pride Month.

The British comedian told the Associated Press the Broadway community “historically has excluded no one. Race, gender, sexuality”.

He added: “They’ve opened their arms to everybody. Always have.”

Coden kicked off the telecast with a massive, nine-minute opening musical number that served as a full-throated endorsement of the live experience.

He started seated alone on a couch in front of a TV, overwhelmed by his binge options, before taking flight with dozens of glitzy dancers from this season’s shows.

Corden sang: “Live! We do it live. And every single moment’s unrepeatable.”

The first acting award went to Celia Keenan-Bolger, who won for best featured actress in a play for her role as Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird.

She noted that her parents read her the book when she was a child in Detroit and had burning crosses put on their lawn because they helped African Americans.

Elaine May won her first Tony Award playing the Alzheimer’s-afflicted grandmother in Kenneth Lonergan’s comic drama The Waverly Gallery.

May, 87, first made audiences roar with laughter in her 1960 Broadway debut, An Evening with Mike Nichols and Elaine May.

On Sunday she won for best lead actress.

Megan Barton-Hanson wows in incredible bikini selfie after admitting low self esteem left her wanting to die

MEGAN Barton-Hanson has left fans reeling with a jaw-dropping bikini shot where she showed off her body confidence, writing: “Thick thighs save lives.”

It’s a remarkable turnaround for the Love Island star, who once suffered so badly with low self-esteem that she found it “painful” to look at herself in the mirror and hit such a low she asked her mum for permission to die.

Instagram

Megan declared: ‘Thick thighs save lives’ alongside this stunning shot[/caption]

The 25-year-old posed alongside pal Charley Marven, pouting in the white swimwear beside her pal, who was dressed in a similarly dazzling bikini.

Her picture comes as Megan admitted she “wanted to give up” after hitting rock bottom when a relationship crumbled before last year’s Love Island.

She told The Sun Online’s Big Interview: “I just didn’t know what my direction was. I was a little bit lost. I was like: ‘What am I going to do now?’

“I think I had turned 21. I was just so unhappy and kept thinking: ‘Why do things keep going wrong in my life?’”

Instagram

The Love Islander has been sharing stunning snaps on Instagram[/caption]

She posed in a bright pink swimsuit for this promo pic last week[/caption]

Megan added: “I went to my mum and basically asked for permission, saying ‘I really don’t want to be here anymore’ and she didn’t know what to do.

“I feel so guilty to this day putting that pressure on her but I am just so glad that I was open and honest with her.”

Her mum dialled medical emergency helpline 111 and she now sees a therapist once a week to help her cope with depression.

Earlier in the week Megan had explained how she was bullied at school so brutally that she ended up begging her mum to let her have cosmetic surgery.

Instagram

Megan shared this shot ahead of appearing on The Full Monty: Ladies Night[/caption]

She told the Mirror: “Every morning I woke up and didn’t feel good. Looking in the mirror was painful almost.

“At school, kids can be so nasty. It was getting to me every day. I’d tie my hair back and my ears stuck out. Boys would make comments.”

Megan added: “It was difficult convincing my mum. She’s like: ‘You’re so young, you won’t care, it’s only because you’re going through that awkward teenage stage.’ When she saw how much it was bothering me, it was a no-brainer.”

Speaking about how celebrities are often expected to seem sunny, she told The Sun: “I feel people don’t think people in the public eye don’t get down or sad.

Megan is backing the Where’s Your Head At? mental health campaign[/caption]

“When I first came out I was worried because you are given this amazing platform and you feel this guilt for feeling down. You shouldn’t.

“People need to understand that just because we are in the public eye, we are not invincible. We still have days where we are down.”

Megan is now supporting the Where’s Your Head At? campaign about mental health and encouraging her fans to speak more openly about the subject.

Other Love Island stars including Alexandra Cane, Rosie Williams, Laura Crane, Jack Fowler, Samira Mighty and Alex Miller are also backing the campaign.

Spice Girls send fans wild with first look at incredible 90s-style Spice World reunion tour stage

THE Spice Girls have revealed the incredible retro stage that will greet excited fans attending their reunion Spice World tour.

Baby Spice Emma, 43, yesterday posted a snap of the extravagant stage layout – that harks back to the Spice Girls’ 90s heyday.

The Spice Girls, minus Posh Spice Victoria, will take to the stage together on Friday[/caption]

The photo, which Emma posted on twitter, shows a huge globe in the centre of the stage with a banner reading “Spice World” across the middle.

It also reveals the dazzling array of lights and lasers that will be used to give fans an eyeful during the much-anticipated reunion gigs.

Wings on either side of the stage have huge screens above them that will show the girls performing in all their glory.

It comes as the Spice Girls – minus Posh Spice Victoria Beckham – prepare for their gig at Dublin’s Croke Park on Friday.

Releasing the behind-the-scenes snap yesterday, Emma wrote: “Spice World production rehearsals done! Roll on Friday.”

Fans reacted with glee – with one writing: “Omg the stage is AMAZING!!!!! I think it’s the best stage yet, out of all of the Spice Girls tours!”

Another said: “I died a little”, while one US fan wrote: “I REALLY hope it comes to America.”

Emma is reuniting on stage with her bandmates Mel C, Mel B and Geri Horner – although Victoria Beckham won’t be taking part.

The tour is named Spice World – a nod to the girls’ 1997 comedy music movie.

Our relationship is really good. We’ve all been really positive, so it’s nice

Geri Horner

The highly anticipated return of the biggest girl group ever is tipped as the entertainment event of the year.

But it comes amid rumours of friction between the girls – especially since Mel B claimed during a recording of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories that she had an historic lesbian fling with Geri.

Earlier, Geri, 46, hit back after rumours of fighting between the group.

Asked what she thought of all the band’s critics, she told The Sun: “You think, ‘Oh f*** off!’.”

She also disputed there is a split in the band, saying: “Our relationship is really good.

“We’ve all been really positive, so it’s nice. It’s natural. I’m really happy, everyone’s happy.”

BEST DEAL UPDATE (UK):

The Incredible Saga of Tracy Edwards: A Real-Life Female Superhero Who Sailed Around the World

Sony Pictures Classics

In 1989, the first-ever all-female team entered the Whitbread Race to sail around the world. Everyone, from the (male) sailors who scoffed at their efforts to the (male) journalists who took bets on how far they’d make it, was convinced that they would never finish. But the Maiden team, led by the indefatigable Tracy Edwards, not only completed the race but won two legs of it.

On paper, the story of the Maiden yacht reads like documentary catnip. On screen, reanimated through old media clips and exclusive on-board footage, salty shots of the ship pummeling the water and a deck full of women the moment when they realize that they’ve taken the lead, it somehow manages to exceed expectations. Alex Holmes’ Maiden is fun to watch on so many different levels, whether it’s witnessing world-class athletes push their bodies past what even they thought possible or listening to a bunch of old men admit, on the record, that they were wrong to ridicule and underestimate them. At 22, Tracy Edwards decided to put together an all-female crew to sail around the world. Thirty years later, she’s a delight as chief narrator, insightfully and humorously ushering viewers along through the stages of that historic journey.

While the bulk of the film focuses on the race, with all of its built-in drama and visual majesty, we start by getting to know Edwards. It takes a special kind of twentysomething to dedicate her entire life to a project that no one thinks she is capable of, and Edwards is certainly that. Rebellious, stubborn, and adventurous, the teenage Edwards took her school expulsion as an opportunity to travel around the world. By chance, she was offered a position working on a charter yacht. As she became increasingly involved in the sailing world, Edwards learned about the Whitbread Round the World Race, and liked the sound of it. She convinced an entrant to take her on as a cook during the 1985-1986 race. Of the 230 crew members taking part in the race, only four were women.

Most incredible waterfalls in the world

Although we may be a little biased, the world is pretty darn beautiful. Each country is different in its landscape and its people, and we keep finding new and impressive nooks and crannies that provide us with a feast for the eyes. Yes, there are countless stunning natural phenomena in the world, and the waterfall is one of them. Just like you can never step in the same river twice, you can never clap eyes on the same waterfall twice. Each time you look it’s completely different, and these are the most incredible waterfalls in the world.

Gullfoss Falls, Iceland

If you’ve ever been to Iceland, you’ll know that there’s just so much to see and do. Everywhere you turn there’s a new icy phenomenon, and Gullfoss Falls is one of them. Largely regarded as one of the most famous waterfalls in the world, this incredible sight looks as though it simply vanishes off the face of the earth. The water rushes off the cliff face and plummets into the pool below, but it’s also a sight that changes. In the summer the waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery. In the winter, snow, and ice.

Niagara Falls, US/Canada

Niagara Falls is an enigma in the waterfall world because it actually falls between two different countries. On the one side, it resides in New York State. On the other side, it resides in Ontario, Canada. As if this wasn’t enough to make it famous, Niagara is also one of the most impressive sights in the world. This long waterfall looks even more intense when you take a boat ride just underneath the spray.

Sutherland Falls, New Zealand

New Zealand is known for being one of the most naturally beautiful countries in the world, and their waterfalls definitely help them maintain this reputation. Sutherland Falls takes the record as the tallest waterfall in the country, but it’s not exactly the easiest one to get to. Tourists have to hike through the Milford Track to eventually find this hidden gem, but it’s definitely worth it.

Plitvice Falls, Croatia

Although Eastern Europe isn’t exactly known for its waterfalls, there’s no doubt about the fact that the Plitvice Falls are a beautiful surprise. Located in the largest National Park in the country, this waterfall is more like a hundred waterfalls in one. One giant flow of water separates down through trees and greenery into lush pools below, and it’s truly something that needs to be seen to be believed.

Yosemite Falls, United States

Yosemite National Park is perhaps one of the most famous natural parks in the world, and the huge mountains and awesome forests have welcomed tourists for years. The piece de resistance of this park, however, is Yosemite Falls. This incredible waterfall can’t be missed, considering it falls right down the side of one of the tallest mountains in the park. As the water rushes down, it creates a spray that looks other-worldly.

If you’re a fan of waterfalls, these incredible waterfalls will certainly float your barrel.

Gemma Collins’ mum Joan shows off her incredible collection of dolls on Instagram

AS far as hobbies go, Gemma Collins’ mum Joan sure has her hands full looking after her daughters ‘diva’ demands, but it turns out she has another hidden hobby- collecting vintage dolls!

The GC’s famous mum – who shares the same name as the Dynasty actress- has been showing off her impressive collection of dolls on Instagram lately.

Gemma Collins’ mum Joan likes to collect vintage dolls for her home
Instagram

Taking up a vast amount of space in Joan’s home, the dolls come in all shapes, sizes and styles.

When she’s not playing her part as Gemma’s agony aunt on Towie, Joan spends her time collecting antiques and vintage items to take centre stage in her Essex pad.

The Essex star even has names for some of her prized possessions, with one named Bella, another called Kitty Christmas and a third Tricksey Bell.

In a few images Joan even snaps photos which combine her love of gardening and the dolls, as she places them in her plant decorations.

However, one shot that divided her followers was of singular baby doll’s heads placed in a glass vase.

“That’s a wee bit creepy!” commented one fan.

Another said: “Erm what.”

A third praised Joan’s creativity, saying: “Fabulous idea.”

It’s not all about dolls over on Joan’s Instagram though, as she shared a video of herself and Gemma’s friends wearing masks of her face as they supported her on Dancing On Ice over the weekend.

Last weekend Gemma, 37, returned to the ice following a nasty fall during her performance the previous weekend that left her with painful injuries.

Now, Dan Whiston, the show’s associate creative director, exclusively told The Sun Online that he believes that this marked the beginning of a Dancing On Ice “curse”.

Dan thinks Gemmas fall has caused a curse on the contestants- including Melody
Melody Thornton

Ice skater Dan said of last week’s excessive injuries: “It was really, really awful. It was almost as if Gemma’s fall from last week’s show… it was a sign of things to come.

“Everyone was getting injured. She’s got black knees, they’re so bruised, she hurt her chest as well.

“People are pushing the boundaries so there are going to be these injuries.”

But it wasn’t just Gemma who has fallen in recent weeks, as her incident has seemed to have caused a domino effect among the other contestants.

Among the injured were Melody Thornton, who fell and hit her chin on the ice last week, Wes Nelson, who badly injured his knee during training, Jane Danson, who fainted during dress rehearsals, Ryan Sidebottom and most recently James Jordan.

But the creative director isn’t worried about the injuries putting the contestants off, adding: “They’re kind an army of robots this year, they’re not going to let anything get them down.

“Only the strongest will survive now as dramatic as that sounds.”
