Volvo Introduces Polestar-Engineered V60 Wagon

Volvo has just introduced an impressive version to its V60 wagon. In partnership with its Swedish performance tuning house, Polestar, the Volvo V60 Polestar Wagon features a 2.0-liter engine that’s both turbo and supercharged for the front wheels, with an additional electric motor powering the rear wheels.

The total power output from this aggressive family wagon is an impressive 415 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque. The Polestar V60 also sees 19-inch wheels, sporty aero add-ons, Ohlins suspension, large Brembo calipers, and further chassis-stiffening components.

The Polestar V60 is slated to hit dealerships this summer, and more information on reserving one can be found over at Volvo’s website.

OneUnited Bank Introduces ‘Queen Card’

OneUnited Bank, the largest black-owned bank in the nation (and No.1 on the ‘Banks’ list of the BE 100‘s listing of the nation’s largest black businesses) just launched The Queen Card.

The card is a Visa debit card with the image of an iconic black woman from history. The Queen Visa Debit Card is part of the bank’s Royalty Campaign.

From a press release about The Queen Card:

The Bank is celebrating a new generation of Queens in America who are claiming their thrones. From scientists to activists, from educators to entertainers, Black women are changing the world.

 

The impact of #BlackGirlMagic cannot be denied. Some of the most important political and civil rights leaders have been Black women such as Harriet Tubman, Shirley Chisolm and Angela Davis. Some of the most important artists and entertainers have also been Black women, such as the late Queen of Soul (Aretha Franklin), Queen Bey (Beyoncé), Queen Latifah, Q.U.E.E.N. Janelle Monae, Nobel laureate Toni Morrison and of course Oprah Winfrey.  And from 2007 to 2018, the number of businesses owned by black women grew by a stunning 164%. According to Forbes, in 2018 there were 2.4 million Black women-owned businesses. In almost every sector, Black women reign!

OneUnited Bank introduces the Queen Card and the Royalty #WearYourCrown Campaign to take the #BankBlack and #BuyBlack Movement to the next level.

OneUnited has been at the forefront of promoting economic empowerment in the black community. In 2014, it launched the Unity Visa Card, offering those trying to rebuild their credit a secured credit card, as opposed to a prepaid debit card.

The financial institution also made news after partnering with the team from the urban radio show, The Breakfast Club, in an effort that raised over $ 700,000 to support social justice initiatives and activists.

DL1961 Introduces the Performance Denim for Men

The collection features more than 50 styles and comes in five fits ranging from skinny to straight. The line is designed for comfort and functionality and to be worn to work, dinner outings and everything in between.

The brand uses eco-friendly fabrics, such as Tencel-lyocell. According to DL, Tencel-lyocell fosters a closed loop process, meaning that the brand’s clothes prioritize the environment from sourcing to final product.

CFDA Introduces Sustainability Initiatives to Help Guide Designers Looking for Cleaner Ways to Work

With “where to begin” being a common conundrum for many brands considering sustainability, the CFDA has launched its Sustainability Initiatives to help designers do their part to clean up the fashion industry.
In line with the United Nations’ call for the fashion industry to act on its global mandate on sustainability, the CFDA has rolled out a four-part strategy. Many designers’ questions may be answered by referencing the first edition of the CFDA Guide to Sustainable Strategies, the Sustainable Strategies Toolkit, the CFDA Materials Index or the CFDA Sustainability Directory.
While Eileen Fisher, Stella McCartney and other designers have been committed to trying to clean up the industry’s excessive waste for a while, many less established brands are examining sustainability for the first time. The United Nations Alliance on Sustainable Fashion will stage its launch event March 14, during a media event of the 4th U.N. Environment Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya. Just as consumers have learned about the environmental farm-to-table choices, sustainability supporters are hopeful that greater awareness about the need for sustainable fashion will lead to changing the consumption and production habits.

CHRISTMAS PHILOSOPHY: It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini.
For the first time, the label has developed a capsule collection for the holiday season that includes two sweater styles in merino wool inlaid with Christmas-inspired motifs and slogans, retailing approximately at 350 euros each.
A mini red turtleneck pull carrying the “Team Santa” wording in ivory-white on the front and the number “25” on the back is embellished with a snowflake motif. A matching scarf and a black, oversize hoodie with the same lettering are also in the collection.

Washed blue denim shorts with contrasting red stitching and themed patches complete the offer, which officially launched on Wednesday evening on Philosophyofficial.com.

Dsquared2 Revamps the Brand’s First Fragrance and Introduces a Women’s Version  

TIM-BER!: “We’re not killing trees anymore,” said Dean Caten of Dsquared2 at the exclusive launch of the brand’s revamped Wood fragrance, which no longer has wooden packaging.
The men’s and women’s fragrances — brown for the boys and pink for the girls — now takes the shape of a hefty beer bottle.
The 30-ml. bottle sells for 44 pounds and the 100-ml. bottle sells for 75 pounds. The fragrance launches at Harvey Nichols on Monday and the Caten brothers expressed the importance of launching exclusively with the department store.
“It’s important to give an exclusive to somebody because it makes it more important as opposed to coming out everywhere. It’s more intimate this way,” said Dean.
In May, Dsquared2 inked a licensing agreement with Euroitalia for the production and distribution of the brand’s fragrances, and Wood is the first perfume to be relaunched under this new partnership.
The men’s fragrance has been reworked while the women’s is a completely new scent created by perfumer Marie Salamagne. Both incorporate similar base notes such as white wood and ambrox.
“We’ve scrapped all of our other perfumes and since Wood was our first fragrance and our bestseller, we’re relaunching with this,” said Dan.

FATHER TO SON: Arje Griegst forged a unique path as a jeweler and sculptor, since founding his eponymous label in the Sixties, and now a whole new generation has the chance to own — and wear — his work.
Two years after his father’s death, Noam Griegst is setting out to honor his legacy and bring pieces from his archive alive.
