Back To Jail? R. Kelly Missed Last Two Child Support Payments: Report

R. Kelly Mugshot

Source: Cook County Department of Corrections

R. Kelly could be in jail soon, but not necessarily because of his perverted ways. He’s also a deadbeat father (surprise) and could be arrested, yet again, for failed child support payments.

“The singer has missed his last 2 months of child support payments to his ex, Drea Kelly,” sources tell TMZ. The site goes on to refresh our memories about his required $ 20,833/month payment to his ex.

ICYMI, Kelly was thrown in jail in March, reportedly due to a $ 161,633 delinquency, but was released after paying the bill. At a later court date, he reportedly asked the judge to lower his monthly child support payment, stating he can’t afford it anymore. “The judge said he’d hear arguments but that won’t happen until May 8. In the meantime, he owes $ 20k+ a month and it’s clear … the judge means business,” TMZ reports.

Stay tuned for another inevitable mugshot.

‘SNL’ Cold Open Features R. Kelly, Gayle King Interview, Hidden Cameras, And The Jail King — Watch Video

The R. Kelly, Gayle King interview received the SNL treatment over the weekend and the video has gone viral. Leslie Jones portrayed the journalist and CBS This Morning co-host who interviewed Robert Sylvester Kelly “R. Kelly” portrayed by Kenan Thompson. Thompson had his work cut out for him as R. Kelly’s interview with King drew millions of views as people watched in awe as R. Kelly became emotional, stood up, spoke over Gayle, shouted out answers, declared his innocence, then became hysterical as he shouted he was fighting for his life.

R. Kelly faces 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse and if convicted could spend up to 70 years in prison.

The opening quickly began spoofing R. Kelly’s responses to Gayle King’s interview.

“My lawyer was telling me, no, but my ego — my ego was telling me yes,” Kenan Thompson stated while in character as  R. Kelly.

Kenan Thompson portrayed the part well and even stood up, mirroring the real-life R. Kelly as he began pacing during the interview.

You may watch the full SNL skit portraying R. Kelly in the video player below.

Have you followed the R. Kelly case? What did you think of Saturday Night Live’s skit? Some of the standouts included showing R. Kelly as portraying himself as a victim, how he began singing during his interview with Gayle King, and that he has trouble with literacy.

During the Surviving R. Kelly docu-series, his ex-wife, Andrea “Drea” Kelly revealed that part of their courtship was the bond they formed when she taught him how to read.

Though R. Kelly has been jailed twice since the documentary, supporters in his community have bailed him out. The SNL skit also paid close attention to the details in the original interview but one aspect that had people shocked was when Kenan looked for the hidden cameras then announced, “You all keep your cameras out like that?”

The skit concluded with Kenan saying he thought Gayle King was the “jail king” indicating the reason why he did the interview was to score points with the jail king and hopefully get out of trouble.

Do you think Leslie Jones and Kenan Thompson did a good job recreating the R. Kelly/Gayle King interview?

Disgraced singer R. Kelly was taken into custody at a Wednesday hearing for failing to pay child support to his ex-wife.

R. Kelly Has Been Released from Jail After Posting $100,000 Bail in a Sex Abuse Case

(CHICAGO) — R. Kelly walked out of a Chicago jail Monday after posting $ 100,000 bail that allows him to go free while awaiting trial on charges that he sexually abused four people dating back to 1998, including three underage girls.

Hours earlier, the R&B star pleaded not guilty to the allegations after spending the weekend behind bars. He said little during the brief arraignment, telling the judge only his name. His lawyers spoke on his behalf.

The singer-songwriter was arrested Friday on 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse. A judge set bond at $ 1 million, meaning Kelly had to post 10 percent of that amount to be released. Court records show a 47-year-old woman from the Chicago suburb of Romeoville, Illinois, posted the $ 100,000 bail and identified herself on the bond slip as “a friend” of Kelly, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Kelly will be forbidden from having any contact with females younger than 18.

The black van that took the entertainer away from the jail stopped in the parking lot of a large downtown McDonald’s. He did not immediately emerge, but some members of his entourage stood outside the vehicle and a dark-colored Mercedes-Benz parked next to it.

The McDonald’s, a popular tourist attraction, was known as Chicago’s Rock ‘n’ Roll McDonald’s before being remodeled and losing its music theme.

The recording artist has been trailed for decades by allegations that he violated underage girls and women and held some as virtual slaves. Kelly has consistently denied any sexual misconduct, and he was acquitted of child pornography charges in 2008.

Attorney Michael Avenatti, who said he represents two Kelly accusers, said his legal team gave prosecutors a second video Monday that shows Kelly sexually abusing a minor. Avenatti previously gave prosecutors video evidence that he said showed Kelly having sex with an underage girl.

Avenatti said the second video involves a 14-year-old girl. He said the footage from 1999 or 2000 is about 55 minutes long, but he did not say if it was the same 14-year-old girl seen in the first video he turned over to the authorities.

“The conduct in the tape can be described as nothing short of outrageous, illegal. It leaves no question as to Mr. Kelly’s guilt,” Avenatti said.

Avenatti said he is aware of a third tape, but he did not provide details.

Defense attorney Steve Greenberg reiterated at a news conference that Kelly has done nothing wrong and said no one has shown him any evidence to the contrary.

“Everybody is entitled to a defense. Everybody is entitled to the presumption of innocence. We should all be taking a step back. Let’s see what happens, what the evidence is and how this plays out,” Greenberg said.

Details of the allegations against Kelly emerged Saturday when the prosecution released four detailed documentsone for each accuser — outlining the basis for the charges. The allegations date back as far as 1998 and span more than a decade.

A girl who attended Kelly’s child pornography trial in 2008 got his autograph after a court session. He later invited her to his home in the Chicago suburb of Olympia Fields, where they had sex multiple times starting the following May, when she was 16, according to the documents, which said he also slapped, choked and spit on the girl.

In 1998, another girl reported meeting Kelly at a restaurant where she was having a 16th birthday party. Kelly’s manager gave her the singer’s business card and suggested she call Kelly. The girl’s mother heard the exchange, took the card and told the manager her daughter was 16.

But her daughter later retrieved the card from her purse. She contacted Kelly, who told her to take a cab to his studio, where they had sex periodically for a year, the documents said. After the first encounter, she was given an envelope of cash.

In early 2003, a Chicago hairdresser told prosecutors that she thought she was going to braid Kelly’s hair, but he pulled down his pants and instead tried to force her to give him oral sex. The woman, who was 24, was able to pull away, but Kelly ejaculated on her and spit in her face, the documents said.

Kelly’s DNA was found in semen on one of the accuser’s shirts, and semen found on a shirt worn by another was submitted for DNA testing, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx said. It was not clear when the accusers turned the shirts over to authorities.

Rising from poverty on Chicago’s South Side, Kelly broke into the R&B scene in 1993 with his first solo album, “12 Play,” which produced such popular sex-themed songs as “Your Body’s Callin’” and “Bump N’ Grind.” He has written numerous hits for himself and other artists, including Celine Dion, Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga.

The jury in 2008 acquitted Kelly of child pornography charges that centered on a graphic video that prosecutors said showed him having sex with a girl as young as 13. He and the female allegedly seen with him denied they were in the 27-minute video, even though the picture quality was good and witnesses testified it was them, and she did not take the stand.

Each count of the new charges carries up to seven years in prison, making it possible for Kelly to receive up to 70 years. Probation is also an option.

The walls began closing in on Kelly after the release of a BBC documentary about him last year and the multipart Lifetime documentary “Surviving R. Kelly,” which aired last month. Together they detailed allegations that he held women against their will and ran a “sex cult.”

Shaun King: A Horrible Situation At A Brooklyn Jail

I have a few important updates that I’d like to give you this morning and we’ll start with the jail right here in Brooklyn, New York that went 7 days without heat or electricity in the dead of winter. By the time the general public learned about the problem on this past Friday, the men and women in this federal detention center had already gone 5 days without heat or electricity.

The only reason we ever found out was because the jail stopped letting family members call or visit – and those family members started telling their attorneys that something was clearly wrong. And when attorneys tried to visit their clients last week, they were either told that they couldn’t, or the few who did quickly learned that the entire jail was dark and damn as cold inside as it was outside.

While the power and heat are back on in this facility, many men have since communicated with their families and attorneys that they have been retaliated against by the guards there for ever communicating with the outside about the conditions. Men said guards have been withholding their food, pepper spraying them, raiding and ransacking their cells and more.

And I keep seeing people say stuff like – well when you do the crime, you do the time – and other foolish stuff like that. But I have two things to say to that type of response.

First and foremost, these are human beings. They deserve fair treatment and some basic human dignity. But I also need to let you know that this is mainly a pre-trial detention center. What that means is that most of these men and women have not even been convicted of a crime. If they were wealthy and white, 99% of them wouldn’t even be there right now. Out nation claims that we are all innocent until proven guilty, but at any given point in this nation, about 500,000 men, women, and children are in jail without ever being convicted of a crime – mainly because they are poor and cannot afford the cash bail that was set for them.

And the men and women in the federal jail in Brooklyn are no different. I met their mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, and they are just everyday people. And I’m grateful for the activists, organizers, and even some dedicated local politicians who made sure that the heat and power got turned back on here, but I tell you what, that jail didn’t give a damn about any of it. And the Trump administration, who oversees the jail, didn’t give a damn about any of it, and I wonder if the jail was anywhere other than right in the middle of America’s largest city, would we have ever heard about it.

I wanna close this morning by giving us an update on what has turned out to be an absolute debacle in the State of Virginia. This weekend we learned that the Democratic Governor, Ralph Northam, had a page in his yearbook where he was either dressed up in Klan robes or in blackface. By Friday evening he apologized for it not once, but twice, saying it was racist and despicable. Every elected official in Virginia, the Virginia Democratic Party, and every prominent Democrat in the nation called on him to resign.

Then, on Saturday, Northam then held a press conference saying that even though he apologized for the photos, that he now believed he was not one of the people in the photos, but that he actually did dress up in blackface while he was in med school.

And it appears he is not going to resign. He’s holding out. And what makes it doubly outrageous is that just 2 weeks ago the Republican Secretary of State of Florida was caught with an old photo of him in blackface, and resigned the next day. But here we are, on Tuesday morning, and Ralph Northam is still the Governor of Virginia.

And for a few days everybody was excited about the possibility of Justin Fairfax, the Black Lt. Governor, becoming Governor. But in a surprising twist, Fairfax has now been accused of sexual assault when he was a political staffer back in 2004. And Fairfax, of course, has denied it, but in doing so, dug himself into a bit of a hole.

In his denial, he said that the Washington Post had the story, but did not publish it because it had holes and inconsistencies.

Only for The Washington Post to come out and actually say no the accusers “story did not have holes or inconsistencies.”

So – we have a lot going on in Virginia right now and I have absolutely no idea what’s going to happen next there. No matter what though, Ralph Northam needs to resign – whether Justin Fairfax becomes the Governor or not.

Iman Shumpert Avoids Jail Time Over 2016 DUI, Marijuana Possession

Sacramento Kings defender Iman Shumpert can start 2019 without worrying about jail time after a Georgia judge placed the NBA star on probation instead of behind bars.

The Blast reports Shumpert was sentenced over his 2016 arrest for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs, marijuana possession and failure to maintain the lane, on December 18.

Shumpert reportedly entered a plea of no-contest to the DUI and guilty for the failure to maintain lane. According to The Blast, court records state the marijuana possession charge was disposed due to a Conditional Discharge law that exists in Georgia allowing first time drug offenders to complete classes on substance abuse instead of paying a steep price.

Shumpert was placed on probation and his criminal case was closed.

French Montana Bails Woman Out Of Jail [Video]

If you don’t have bail money, French Montana may have your back. The Bronx rapper recently put up bail for a woman who wouldn’t have been able to afford it otherwise.

Reports TMZ:

French Montana isn’t trying to fix the criminal justice system by himself, but says he still wants to do his part … which is why he bailed a woman out of jail who couldn’t afford it.

We got French Monday in NYC shortly after he posted bail for a woman in the Bronx who couldn’t put up the money. He tells us poverty isn’t a crime, and just because you can’t afford to get out of a cage doesn’t mean you should be in one.

He teamed up with Mass Bail Out, an org focused on this cause, but French told us this is very personal for him … revealing how the cash bail system has affected some of his close friends.

French said he wanted to pay it forward considering he has best friends in jail when he spoke to TMZ.

Is it too early to discuss French Montana’s boots in the pic below or nah?
