Nancy Wilson, Grammy-Winning Jazz and Pop Singer, Dead at 81

Nancy Wilson, legendary jazz and pop singer, passed away at the age of 81.

via AP:

Her manager Devra Hall Levy told The Associated Press late Thursday that Wilson died peacefully after a long illness at her home in Pioneertown, a California desert community near Joshua Tree National Park. She was 81.

Influenced by Dinah Washington, Nat “King” Cole and other stars, Wilson covered everything from jazz standards to “Little Green Apples” and in the 1960s alone released eight albums that reached the top 20 on Billboard’s pop charts.

Sometimes elegant and understated, or quick and conversational, she was best known for such songs as her breakthrough “Guess Who I Saw Today” and the 1964 hit “(You Don’t Know) How Glad I Am,” which drew upon Broadway, pop and jazz.

RIP.

Cavs’ Kyle Korver traded to Jazz for Alec Burks, 2 second-round picks

Korver, 37, has been one of the most pursued available players on the trade market. Utah is sending 2020 and 2021 second-round picks to Cleveland, league sources said. The 2021 pick is via the Washington Wizards. The Cavaliers have been shopping Korver and guard JR Smith, who recently left the team. There had been significant interest in Korver among multiple contenders. Korver had 22 points on 6-of-9 3-point shooting in a recent loss to the  Minnesota Timberwolves. He had been eager to be moved to a contender. The Cavaliers are in asset-acquisition mode, starting the season 4-15. Burks,…
