Rocky Barnes Dabbles With Design in Latest Link With Express

PALM SPRINGS, CALIF. — Rocky Barnes’ mom used to sell surf collectables at the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena and the model-blogger, as a teen, used to roll her eyes at the down time spent there. Little did she know that would largely become a key part of her personal style and what fueled the inspiration for a new collection due out next month in collaboration with Express.
“I feel really, really proud of how it came together,” Barnes said Saturday in Palm Springs as she awaited taking the stage to speak at the Create & Cultivate Desert Pop-up conference. “Obviously, I’m not a designer, but I feel like the Express team really helped me mold everything together. I know there’s a million influencer capsules going on right now, but I feel like this one is really just distinctly me. I’m not scared of color. I’m not scared of patterns. It’s stuff you can mix and match. There’s not one set outfit.”
The collection is broad in its range with maxi kimonos, bodysuits, cropped tops, jumpsuits, skirts, dresses, shorts and an assortment of footwear, including Western-inspired booties and slide heels. Leopard, a mustard floral print, pale lavender and white are just some of

Laila Ali On Lessons From Her Dad, Her Kids in the Ring, and Her Latest Partnership [VIDEO]

In addition to her undefeated boxing record and being the daughter of the legendary Muhammad Ali, Laila Ali is a chef, author, entrepreneur, and television host. On top of that, she’s a health-conscious wife and mother dedicated to empowering people through healthy lifestyle options. That’s why it comes with little surprise that she signed on to be the face of Home Made Simple’s new eco-friendly cleaning product line.

Many know Home Made Simple as an Emmy-award winning docuseries Ali hosts on the OWN network. On the show, Ali and a team of experts help real people transform their homes and lives by using creative solutions to everyday home challenges and design dilemmas. On March 27, the lifestyle brand announced the next phase of its budding empire: a line of plant-based household products that include a hand soap, dish soap, multi-purpose cleaner, laundry detergent, and fabric softener. The collection is free of gluten, parabens, phthalates, phosphates, and dyes. Plus, the bottles are 100% recyclable, and both the laundry detergent and fabric softener bottles are made from 25% or more post-consumer recycled plastic. Ali says she signed on to promote the product line because it is in line with her values.

“I am someone who is all about having products in my home that are safe for my family. I live for the environment,” she told BLACK ENTERPRISE. “There are a lot of products that actually work, but they are not good for you or the environment.”

Fighting for What’s Right

Much like her father, Ali stands firm in her beliefs and does not sanction anything that conflicts with her core values, even if that means turning down an endorsement deal or lucrative opportunity. “I haven’t been the face of many brands because, first of all, they have to be something that really resonates with me and feels true to me,” said the four-time boxing world champion. “It has to be something that I would use, something that I can stand behind, something that I believe in.”

Ali has not veered far from her father’s footsteps. Outside of the ring, Muhammad Ali held steadfast beliefs in justice and equality and infamously refused to fight in the Vietnam War. He also used his platform as the world heavyweight champion to stand up for civil rights and even forfeit his heavyweight belt. The 41-year-old retired boxer said one of the biggest lessons she learned from her dad was having a “fighting mindset,” both in and out of the ring. “He really taught me to figure out how I can fight through anything that’s going on and have the best outcome. So, I kind of pretty much apply that to everything I’m doing. I don’t expect everything to be easy or go my way,“ she told BE. “Don’t look at failures as [just] failures; look at them as opportunities to grow or do something differently next time.”

Just like her father initially disapproved of Ali’s decision to step into the ring, likewise, Ali says she would caution her own 12-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter about competing in the combat sport. “I definitely don’t want them to do that because it’s a dangerous sport and I think my dad felt the same way when I started boxing, but it didn’t prevent me from doing it.” Nonetheless, she said she would support her children if they did decide to carry her family’s legacy.

Kondo-ing is the latest dating trend – but is it harsh or fair enough?

We can’t decide

dating trends kondo-ing

When it comes to dating trends, we like to think we’re pretty clued up. Whether it’s the Game of Thrones-inspired white walking dating trend, or the rather rude and cheap sneating, long gone are the days of the original ghosting. Ah, the simple days when you’d just be suddenly ignored rather than cushioned or stashed!

So not all dating trends are created equal. Most of them tend to fall on the crappy behaviour spectrum, but there are a few that can actually be seen as positive. For example, Grande-ing, which is ‘practicing gratefulness at the end of a relationship and rejecting negativity and bitterness as you move forward with your life.’

However, the latest dating trend has left many people torn because it’s hard to work out whether it’s harsh or fair.

Enter Kondo-ing. As you have probably guessed, it is a term inspired by tidying sensation, Marie Kondo. If you’ve seen her Netflix series, you’ll know that she encourages people to get rid of anything that doesn’t ‘spark joy’. But far from just using this logic to decide whether you really need seven Breton tops in your wardrobe, it can be applied to your love life, too.

Time wasters, cheats, gaslighters, the ones who tell you after six months of dating that they’re not ready for a relationship – Plenty of Fish coined the term Kondo-ing to explain getting rid of anyone who doesn’t ‘spark joy’.

Completely cutting out someone who is treating you badly is a good idea, but what if the person you’re seeing is just not right for you? What if they’re lovely but you just don’t have that spark? What if they’re a good egg that you’d totally want to stay friends with? Do they deserve being Kondo-ed? Probably not.

With that in mind, maybe just be mindful of who really deserves to be Kondo-ed.

Why you should be paying attention to the latest Instagram challenge

Listen up

If there’s one Instagram challenge you need to pay attention to this month, it’s this one. It has become one of the fastest growing hashtags in the UK in March, with more than 28k posts and creating an ever-growing community.

So what is it?

The #MarchMeetTheMaker2019 hashtag sees small business owners taking to the social media platform to show their followers exactly what goes on behind the scenes. Whether it’s talking about how they set up their business, showing the hard work and love that goes into creating every product, talking about making their brand more eco-friendly or simply sharing the bits that we never see on Instagram, it’s a breath of fresh air and an important place to be for anyone who wants to know the ins and outs of starting a creative business from the people who are doing it right now.

First created by Joann Hawker in 2016, it encourages small businesses to share daily posts about themselves and small company throughout the month – with a different focus point each day – so that customers can see through the gloss and get to know the minds behind it all.

Here are some of the creatives showing what #MarchMeetTheMaker means for them.

Reducing waste. This is something that I’ve actively tried to do everywhere that I can in my studio! I’ve managed to tweak my pattern pieces, and cutting method, to mean that I waste only the tiniest bit of my backing fabric which is so satisfying! My fabric is printed to order which means minimal waste, too. . I recently switched to biodegradable poly bags which, although they’re ten times the cost, give me ten times more peace of mind! . . . #mmtm . . . . . . #marchmeetthemaker #marchmeetthemaker2019 #marchmeetthemaker19 #joannehawker #heytheremaker @heytheremaker @joannehawker #ukmaker #maker #ukmade #madeintheuk #smallbiz #smallbusiness #girlboss #selfemployed #map #cartography #vintagemap #homeiswherethehearti #reduceplastic #reducewaste

The ‘Burberry Noose’ Is Just The Latest Controversy. Why Can’t Fashion Houses Do Better?

Photo Illustration by Elizabeth Brockway/The Daily Beast

For many, the sight of a model wearing a noose at Burberry’s London Fashion Week show was disgusting, tasteless, and distressing. Unfortunately, it was not all that surprising.

Frustratingly, it felt like a fashion controversy du jour, a story that would dominate the day’s headlines until a new offensive look started trending on Twitter.

After all, before the noose it was Katy Perry’s blackface shoes. Before Katy Perry’s blackface shoes it was Gucci’s blackface turtleneck. Before Gucci’s blackface turtleneck it was Prada’s blackface keychain. Before Prada’s blackface keychain it was Dolce & Gabbana’s bizarre, anti-Chinese ad campaign.

Union LA‘s latest drop shows a deep mix of many cultures and interests. Taking two art forms, music and film, graphics were created using the literal meanings behind the names of movies and musical acts. With Chris Gibbs‘ fascination with juxtaposing contrasting worlds, a collection of T-shirts, totes, sweats, and hoodies is born.

In the February drop, we see a bootleg Staff tee that shows the two locations of Union’s retail stores, a Radiohead shirt that plays on the word “head” in street culture (sneakerhead, metal-head, rap-head…etc), an ATLliens Outkast/Alien-movie tote, and also a very special shirt that imagines what Malcolm X’s tour merch for Africa would have looked like. A Star-Studded Soccer Game Was Saudi Arabia’s Latest Attempt to ‘Sportswash’ Rights Abuses. It Didn’t Work

A headed goal from soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo propelled Juventus to 1–0 victory over rivals AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana (Italian Super Cup) Wednesday, but the reluctance of the sport’s top players and clubs to speak out against Saudi Arabia’s human rights abuses has prompted accusations they are complicit in ‘sportswashing’ for the Gulf state.

The game took place at Saudi Arabia’s 62,000-capacity King Abdullah Stadium, where a fan-zone featured mock gondoliers and Venetian bridges, soccer stars posed for pre-match photos in traditional Saudi headdresses and fans in the bleachers held aloft cardboard cutouts of the Kingdom’s ruling monarchs. But back in Italy, state broadcaster RAI’s journalists union accused Italy’s elite Serie A league of helping gloss over Riyadh’s strict gender segregation laws, the brutal war in Yemen, and crackdowns on dissident voices – including the brutal murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.

The $ 8 million that Saudi Arabia is paying for the right to hold each of three Supercoppa games it is scheduled to host over the next five years constitutes “the price of silence in the face of bombs which have been massacring civilians in Yemen for four years, in the face of the enlistment of child soldiers, in the face of the brutal murder [of Khashoggi],” RAI’s journalist union said in a statement issued a couple of days before kickoff. Highlighting the presence of male-only sections in the stadium and the incarceration of women activists, RAI’s union’s accused those involved of being accomplices to delivering “un calcio ai diritti umani” (a kick against human rights).

Read more: Women in Saudi Arabia Can Finally Attend Live Soccer Matches

Serie A’s deal with Riyadh drew scant public opposition when it was announced last June. The Italian season’s traditional opener—now scheduled during its mid-winter break—had in the past been played in the U.S., China, Qatar and Libya. Its temporary home in Saudi Arabia was confirmed the same month reforms overseen by de-facto leader Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salmon (nicknamed MSB) permitted women in the Kingdom to drive, and a year after they were allowed to attend live soccer games in stadiums for the first time.

But Khashoggi’s murder in Istanbul last year—which U.S. Senators say was ordered by the crown prince—largely put an end to Bin Salman’ efforts to cast himself as a reformer. The high-profile flight of Saudi teenager Rahaf Mohammed Alqunun this month prompted fresh scrutiny of the country’s male-dominated guardianship system, which curbs women’s ability to make critical decisions about their lives.

In addition to RAI’s and other unions staging a protest outside Saudi Arabia’s embassy in Rome, Wednesday’s match also drew criticism from Italian politicians and Amnesty international, who in October urged Juventus and A.C. Milan to pull out of the game.

“International sports events have become an established public diplomacy tool for Gulf countries to enhance their global stature and to deflect attention from political controversies and human rights abuses,” says Lina Khatib, head of the Middle East and North Africa program at London-based policy institute Chatham House. “But sometimes this strategy has backfired, instead drawing attention to issues the countries would like to sweep under the carpet.”

Read more: ‘Rahaf Is Going to Start a Revolution.’ Saudi Women Are Demanding Reforms After a Teen Fled the Country in Fear for Her Life

Italy’s top league is only the latest organization to be accused of assisting a Gulf state’s “sportswashing.” Soccer’s international governing body FIFA has failed to hold the Qatari government to account over what Human Rights Watch estimates could be more than 2,000 unexplained deaths of outdoor workers since FIFA awarded Qatar the right to host the 2022 World Cup, writes researcher Nicholas McGeehan. McGeehan has also criticized German club Bayern Munich for keeping quiet over human rights abuses allegedly perpetrated by its sponsor Qatar Airways.

Such organizations are “so hungry for cash and the Gulf States are so happy to hand it out at every turn that they have not been allies in trying to use sport as a tool for positive change or reform,” McGeehan tells TIME. It’s a damning indictment of organizations that frequently tout their commitment to fair play and inclusivity. But, McGeehan says, the game’s stars are “probably among the most powerful actors” to affect change.

In a statement Serie A president Gaetano Micciche said the league was working to ensure women would be able to access all areas of the stadium’s seats for subsequent Supercoppa fixtures. But analysts say the negligible criticism from soccer’s luminaries illustrates how Saudi Arabia is so far withstanding public pressure, bolstered by international business and political interests overriding concern for human rights.

“Football is part of the Italian economic and cultural system, and can’t have logic, especially in international relations, different from those of the country to which it belongs,” Micciche said in a statement defending the decision to proceed with the match. “Saudi Arabia is the largest Italian commercial partner in the Middle East thanks to dozens of important Italian companies that export and operate there, with many of our compatriots working Saudi Arabia, and none of these relations have been disrupted.”

Counting On Fans Are Shocked By Lauren Swanson’s Scandalous Look In Josiah Duggar’s Latest Instagram Post

Counting On star Lauren Swanson has only been married to Josiah Duggar for six months, but it looks like they are already tired of the pregnancy rumors. After posting pics on Instagram where Lauren is bundled up in coats, not facing the camera, or only showing herself from the shoulders up, fans started wondering if the 19-year-old was expecting her first child. The newlyweds finally put the pregnancy rumors to rest – at least for now – by sharing a photo where Lauren showed off her tiny figure in a tight red dress.

“Can’t believe it’s already been six months since I married you! You were the best decision I ever made! Love u, sweetheart,” wrote Josiah in the caption.

Lauren was standing next to their Christmas tree in the photo, taking down decorations. And, fans loved the long-sleeved, knee-length dress (and the chunky black heels) that Lauren was wearing. They immediately started to ask how they could get their hands on one for themselves.

One fan wrote, “Ask Lauren where she got that dress! It’s super cute!!!” to which Josiah responded, “She got it off Amazon.”

“Lauren, I love your dress!!!!!! So cute!” wrote a second fan, while a third chimed in, “It’s a beautiful dress.”

According to Life & Style, it was a bit of a surprise to see Lauren in such a modern look. We all know how much the Duggars love their conservative fashion, and in the past Josiah’s mom Michelle has said that their interpretation of modesty is that everything should be covered from neck to knee.

“My kids are taught the definition of defrauding as stirring up desires that cannot be righteously fulfilled. We don’t believe in defrauding others by the way we dress,” Michelle said in a 2013 interview.

As the Duggar girls grow up – and the Duggar boys get married – we have started to see some more “liberal” fashion choices in the family. Michelle has been wearing shorter skirts, Jinger has been rocking jeans, and Jill wore tank tops this past summer.

As for Lauren, we haven’t seen her in pants or tank tops yet. But that could change soon. One thing is for sure, we won’t see her in maternity clothes this winter. There was zero room for any kind of bump in that red dress.

Lauren Swanson and Josiah Duggar return in new episodes of Counting On later this year on TLC.

Zonnique Pullins’ Latest Christmas Photo Is Not Appreciated By Her Fans: ‘Try Another Angle’

Zonnique Pullins spent this Christmas with her BF, Bandhunta Izzy, and also together with her whole family: her mom, Tiny Harris, brothers, and more friends and siblings after she was on vacation with Izzy in the Bahamas.

T.I. was not in the Christmas family photo and this sparked debate on whether he was taking the pic or he simply was not there.

Anyway, if Zonnique’s pics from her Bahamas vacay were highly praised by her fans and followers, it seems that her latest Christmas photo in which she’s posing with the Christmas tree was not too appreciated online.

‘Friends aren’t friends if they don’t tell u “try another angle”’ someone told Zonnique in the comments section.

Another follower defended Zonnique and said ‘No it’s not the most flattering picture but yall ruthless out here lol she still looks beautiful at the end of the day.’

Someone said that ‘She had to do that angle she had surgery on her eyes remember one of them is crooked but still gorgeous tho.’

Another fan guesses that Zonnique must be pregnant: ‘Beautiful but I think there’s a bundle of joy hidden 😍❤’ This is not the first time that she sparks pregnancy rumors.

Someone gushed over her and said ‘Gaining all the good weight. 😍💯

We believe that Zonnique is a very pretty girl who has all the reasons to be proud of her natural body and show it off whenever she wants.

Refund On The Way To Latest ‘Bill Of The Month’ Patient

Sarah Witter had to pay for a second surgery to repair her broken leg after a metal plate installed during the first surgery broke. On Friday, she got a more welcome break — a $ 6,358.26 refund from the hospital and her insurer.

Witter’s experience was the subject of December’s KHN-NPR “Bill of the Month” feature. She and her insurer, Aetna, had racked up $ 99,159 in bills from a Rutland, Vt., hospital and various medical providers after she fractured her leg in a skiing accident last February.

A surgeon at Rutland Regional Medical Center implanted two metal plates, attached to her leg bones to help them heal. Less than four months later, one of these plates broke, requiring her to have a second surgery to replace the plate. Witter, who is 63, ended up paying $ 18,442, mostly to the hospital, for her portion of the total cost for all her care from the hospital, doctors, emergency services and physical therapists.

After KHN contacted Aetna about these costs, the insurer noticed that Rutland Regional had billed Witter for the difference between what it charged for its services and what Aetna considered an appropriate price for the first surgery. Those additional charges are known as “balance bills” and occur when a medical provider is not in the insurer’s network and has no contract with the insurer. Rutland Regional is not in Aetna’s network. In our original story, KHN had calculated $ 7,410 in balance bills.

Aetna said it contacted the hospital and negotiated a compromise in which the insurer paid the hospital nearly $ 3,800 and the hospital waived the remainder of the charges to Witter that Aetna considered unreasonably high.

“As part of her benefits plan, Sarah’s claims in question went through a patient advocacy process that allows us to negotiate with the provider on the member’s behalf to resolve any balance billing issues,” a spokesman wrote.

Aetna said it will negotiate disputed bills for any of its customers who request assistance, and also help schedule appointments, get services authorized and deal with other non-medical complications. However, an Aetna spokesman wrote, “we weren’t fully aware of all of the bills that Sarah had received before we received them from you/her.”

On Friday, Rutland Regional again declined to discuss Witter’s account. Witter said she learned of the refund during a meeting, at Rutland Regional’s invitation, with a hospital financial administrator.

“They went through all the costs and I guess treated it [the first surgery] more like it was a hospital service that was within my contract,” she said. The administrator told her they had “reprocessed” the charges from her second surgery, but that her portion of the bill did not change, she said.

“It’s good news — who doesn’t like getting money back? But I don’t quite understand,” she said. “If it’s that easy for them to reprocess this billing to get me this, then it’s obvious that everything is really arbitrary.”

One difference between the two surgeries was the first one was conducted during a crisis after Witter was admitted to the hospital through the emergency room. Balance bills in those circumstances are the most difficult to justify because patients with injuries that require immediate care, such as a heart attack or car accident, are usually taken to the closest medical facility. Patients are not in a position to figure out where the closest in-network alternative is.

Neither Witter’s hospital nor her insurer budged on her underlying complaint: that she shouldn’t have had to pay for second surgery, which cost $ 43,208, because one of the plates — known as a bone fixation device and manufactured by Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Synthes — broke.

Device manufacturers generally do not offer warranties for hardware devices once they have been implanted, saying that device failure can be due to a variety of factors beyond the company’s control. Those include poor implantation by the surgeon; bones that fail to heal and subject the device to unremitting strain, causing metal fatigue; or patients who apply too much weight or movement on the bone despite instructions not to.

DePuy, which declined to comment for this story, earlier said that device failures occur in “rare circumstances.” In its instructions for surgeons, DePuy noted: “It is important to note that these implants may break at any time if they are subjected to sufficient stresses.”

Witter said her surgeon was present at her meeting at Rutland Regional and told her that “the fact the bone hadn’t completely healed yet was part of the problem.” She said she has not been able to find a contact for the device manufacturer so she can complain about it breaking.

Even after she receives her refund next week, Witter still will have paid $ 12,084 for her broken limb. Asked her advice for other patients dealing with bills they consider excessive, she said: “Don’t break your leg.”

Do you have an interesting or outrageous medical bill you’d like KHN and NPR to examine? Tell us about it!

Jimmy Kimmel Discovers Tuna Is the Latest Thing That Doesn’t Pair Well With Millennials

In the wake of a report that millennials are killing canned tuna, Jimmy Kimmel decided to find out if the generation even knows how to open cans.

Ahead of Monday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the late-night host sent his team out to Hollywood Boulevard to challenge people aged 22 to 37 (if they were all actually millennials, that is) to open a can of tuna fish.

“Sales of canned tuna fish have plummeted. Canned tuna consumption is down more than 40 percent over the past three decades and the tuna companies believe the reason is because millennials don’t want to go to the trouble of opening a can,” Kimmel explained. “I find that reason a little hard to believe so we decided to put the theory to the test. We went out on the street and we asked young people walking by to try to open a can of tuna.”

Unfortunately, it didn’t seem like many of the segment’s participants were up to the task.

The latest Game of Thrones trailer will give you chills

©2017 Home Box Office, Inc. All

If you’ve been getting into the Christmas spirit, you’ll have cracked open your beauty advent calendar, the Prosecco Christmas crackers will be in the fridge, and you’ll have got your £5 tree from Ikea.

You’re ready to celebrate, and there’s a tray of Ferrero Rocher just crying to be opened.

And while we don’t want to wish the time away, we’re also excited about the festive period for another reason – once it’s over, it means we’re one step closer to the final season of Game of Thrones.

Hurrah! We’ll finally see what goes down when Dany and Jon Snow realise that their saucy midnight cabin meets are actually incestuous. We’ll find out why Tyrion was looking all shady in the shadows during the last episode. And we’ll also find out whether faceless man trainee and all-round badass Arya will finally meet her match and join those who have fallen before her.

So much drama! So many questions! So many spoilers to read up on before season 8 airs in April!

And as (very) eager fans, we are delighted to see that another trailer has been released – and it looks epic.

The 54 second teaser sees that old board of Westeros along with the famous chess pieces – the Stark Direwolf, the Targaryen dragon and the Lannister lion. Each is slowly engulfed in plumes of icy chill, before a sudden rush of fire draws in from the opposite end of the board and the two meet in the middle.

We’re not too surprised that we don’t get any actual footage of the upcoming season, because the Game of Thrones lot are known for keeping as much under wraps as they possibly can.

However, it has whet our appetite and made us ridiculously excited for April 2019.

Will you be tuning in to see how it all ties up?

We’re on the edge of our (icy and fiery) seats.

David Attenborough’s latest nature show has a brilliantly original twist

An iguana desperately fleeing a horde of snakes. A bird struggling to find love. A giraffe fending off a lion in a heroic bid for freedom.

When it comes to nature documentaries, it tends to be the individual stories that we remember best. It happened again and again in Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II — an event in the life of one specific creature, combined with the sweetly soothing sound of David Attenborough’s narration, took the internet by storm.

Well, it looks like there’s going to be more where that came from. In the latest BBC David Attenborough documentary series Dynasties, there will be an even greater focus placed on individual stories. Read more…

T.I. Discusses Trap Music, Donald Trump And Kanye West In The Latest Interview

Variety just caught up with T.I. and had the most exciting interview about trap music, Donald Trump and Kanye West. This came just ahead of the much-awaited premiere of Tip and Tiny Harris’ show that’s set to begin on October 22nd.

When Variety asked Tip about why he started making trap music, he answered that he just wanted to become a voice for the voiceless.

‘There was a lot of party music at that time, a lot of glitz and glamor, and there was conscious music. Yes, there was music about the drug trade, but there wasn’t anything as vivid and real about the dealers, that elaborated on the life – to humanize it all in a way that “Trap Muzik” did,’ Tip said.

Now I’ve been extremely patient and made it a point to not jump to any premature conclusions about Ye’& his antics… Partially due to the lessons learned from the outcome of other similar situations dealing wit my brother Wayne (which I admittedly mishandled a bit in hindsight) But now this shit is next level, futuristic Sambo,Hopping Bob, Stephen off Django ass shit Ye!!!! From what I can gather… This is the most repulsive, disgraceful, Embarrassing act of desperation & auctioning off of one’s soul to gain power I’ve ever seen. Now I recall you asking me to come with you to have this meeting and I declined (naturally)… but bro… if ain’time I would’ve been in there wit you and you behaved that spinelessly in my presence,I feel that I’d be compelled to slap de’Fuq outta you bro For the People!!! You ass kissing and boot licking on a whole new level &I refuse to associate myself with something so vile, weak,& inconsiderate to the effect this has on the greater good of ALL OUR PEOPLE!!!! I’m a true believer in “It ain’t what you do,it’s how you do it.” And this shit is regurgitating🤮! At one time it was a pleasure to work alongside you… now, I’m ashamed to have ever been associated with you. To all the people who follow Ye musically, socially, or even personally….who are confused, heartbroken, infuriated…. Let me make this clear… THIS SHIT AINT COOL!!! THIS IS A MOVE YE MADE FOR YE!!! THIS IS A PLAY TO PUT HIM IN A POSITION HE’D LIKE TO SEE HIMSELF IN…WE ARE NOT ON HIS MIND AS HE MAKES THESE COMMENTS AND DECISIONS. Don’t follow this puppet. Because as long as I’ve lived I’ve learned that it benefits a man nothing at all to gain the world,if to do so he must lose his soul. We just saw Mr.West’s Soul on auction. If you listen closely you can hear the tears of our ancestors hit the floor. All I can say is… I’ve reached my limits. This is my stop,I’m officially DONE!!!! 🖕🏽Trump & His Lil Cookie Boy. #USorELSE✊🏽

A post shared by TIP (@troubleman31) on

When Variety brought up Kanye West who went to the White House to discuss some issues with president Donald Trump, they mentioned the way in which Tip had previously described Kanye’s actions: repulsive, disgraceful, embarrassing and more.

The magazine told T.I. to explain how he really feels about the matter and here’s what he said:

‘To be honest, if something good comes of it, great. But you don’t just sell out a bunch of people to get nothing done. You don’t sell out a whole generation and a whole race of people to get nothing done. ‘

He also said that Kanye invited him as well at the meeting, but he refused and said that he is not a politician and more experienced people should go instead of him.

You can read the complete interview in Variety because it’s really interesting and sheds more light on how Tip feels about Kanye.

“Here & Now” features Miguel Blanco During his Latest Mission to Indonesia During the Swell of the Decade

“Here & Now” features Miguel Blanco during his latest mission to Indonesia during the swell of the decade, being in the right place at the right time Miguel ended up scoring the now legendary monster session in Nias Pulau. The film portraits all the action during his trip around Indo, culminating with the Nias Swell and the wave that ultimately changed his life and ended up in the Cover of Surfer Magazine.

“Here & Now” was filmed and edited by the brilliant Brazilian filmaker Bruno Zanin who was traveling with Miguel during this dramatic swell, with additional footage by Carlo Coral.

Miguel Blanco added the following statement: “This has been a great year. Such a great rollercoaster! I’ve been putting a lot of energy into surfing and just stoked to be doing what I love the most everyday! I had a big gap in summer so I decided to go to Puerto and Indo. Caught a good swell in Puerto and somehow ended up being in Indo for the biggest swell in this last decade. “Here & Now” shows some of that action. To add to that magic trip, Surfer Magazine came out and I was in the cover! My first cover on an international magazine. Back home, I was doing the national league where the champ has a chance to surf the WCT in Portugal as a wildcard. I had some chance to win it but it wasn’t looking too pretty. Well, I guess everything came together and I won the event, crowned National champ and earned the wildcard for the WCT in Peniche.”

Blanco is one of Portugal’s most respected Surfers right now, with only 22 years old, he is the new Portuguese National Champ after winning this weekend the National League where he also got a wildcard for the WCT in Peniche later this month. He was the only Portuguese shredder in the recent Monumental Swell in Nias, where he probably scored the wave of his life that ended up being the latest cover of Surfer Magazine. He’s a rising star both on a progressive surfing approach and also chasing slabs and Big Surf. Already with 6 Hawaiian Seasons and trips all over the world (Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Caribbean, Indo, Maldives, etc), Miguel is making a name for himself and represents the future of his Portuguese generation.

Latest ‘South Park’ Episode Calls for the Cancellation of ‘The Simpsons’

South Park called out The Simpsons on its latest episode, describing it as a series with “bigotry and hate” before closing with a #CancelTheSimpsons hashtag. The episode featured the acclaimed Mr. Hankey character on trial defending his offensive tweets, mocking the Brett Kavanaugh case.

After blaming the tweets on Ambien similarly to Roseanne Barr’s statements earlier this year following the cancellation of her show, the Christmas Poo is sentenced to leave town. He’s sent somewhere “that accepts racist, awful beings like him,” with people who “don’t care about bigotry and hate,” and that place ends up being The Simpsons‘ Springfield.

He’s welcomed by Apu speaking in a stereotypical voice, a callback to a documentary about the show and the character called The Problem With Apu, which calls out the show’s crude depiction of his nationality. Even the episode’s name “The Problem With A Poo,” is a reference to the doc. Simpsons‘ showrunner Al Jean spoke to THR about the ending, stating he knows it was all in good fun and a show of respect to the series.

“It’s actually in favor of us saying people are too critical,” Jean stated. “Hari Kondabalu [the writer/star of the documentary] tweeted he thought they agreed with him but pulled the comments showing he was wrong. All season the show has had a #cancelsouthpark hashtag so my response (which I tweeted) is: #pleasedontcancelsouthpark.”

The Latest Thing Millennials Are Killing? The Primary Care Doctor

Millennials are killing everything from car ownership to home ownership to beer to vacations to the institution of marriage itself, if the headlines are to be believed. (Full disclosure: I am a millennial.) So why not add another victim to the list? In this case, the primary care doctor.

A Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) survey and followup analysis by Kaiser Health News found that 26% of 1,200 respondents said they didn’t have a go-to primary care physician. But, digging a bit deeper, the survey found sharp generational shifts fueling that trend: Nearly half (45%) of 18-to-29 year olds said they didn’t have a primary care doctor. That figure fell to 28% for Americans aged 30 to 49 and just 18% and 12%, respectively, for people in the 50-to-64 and 65-plus cohort.

Some of this can likely be explained by a divergence of needs. It’s not implausible to think that, the older you get, the more you may want to have the security of a personal medical professional versed in your health history.

But it also represents a sea change in thinking likely fostered by an increased emphasis on convenience (and, perhaps, increasingly transitory lifestyles), according to some experts. A same-day telehealth appointment in a stranger could prove more valuable to some than a long-standing relationship with a doctor who may not be available at the click of a button.

The broader question is: What long-term effects will this shift have on public health? People with chronic conditions, for instance, may benefit from the stability of a primary care doctor who can provide continuous (and, theoretically, more personalized) care. At the same time, Americans who live in the numerous areas with a shortage of doctors may have entirely understandable reasons for pursuing more transitory medical relationships.

Tyler, The Creator’s Latest GOLF le FLEUR* Converse Collaboration Could be a Chuck Taylor

So far, Tyler, The Creator‘s ongoing GOLF le FLEUR* collaboration with Converse has seen a number of reworks of the One Star silhouette. But, according to a new leak, his next release with the label could see him take on the Chuck Taylor for an understated new design.

Whereas most of the previous release have featured a bright color palette, the new design comes in a muted brown colorway. The classic Chuck Taylor canvas upper is replaced by a hopsack-like material. The sneaker’s upper is then finished with black detailing, including a GOLF le FLEUR* logo on the tongue and branding in reverse on one side. Lastly, the Chuck Taylor features the collaboration’s signature flower-print sole. There’s no news on when, or if, this collaboration will be releasing, but keep checking back for more information.
