How to Live Stream ‘Monday Night Football’ Games for Free Throughout the 2018 NFL Season

“Monday Night Football” games are broadcast on ESPN. That’s a pay TV channel, of course. But it’s still possible for nearly all fans to watch “Monday Night Football” for free tonight and every Monday during the 2018 NFL season, even they don’t have cable or another TV or live streaming service that includes ESPN.

As we reported in a previous story covering how to live stream NFL games free, the 2018 season marks the first time that fans can stream their locally broadcast games, as well as nationally televised matchups — including “Sunday Night Football” on NBC and “Monday Night Football” on ESPN — by using the NFL App:

Fans can watch NFL games online for free via the NFL App. After you’ve downloaded the app to a mobile device or connected TV, you’ll be able to live stream many NFL games — specifically, your local team’s games, as well as nationally broadcast prime time games like NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” — throughout the entire season. Downloading the NFL App is free, and there is no charge for using it to stream games. You can even use it for free live streaming of the 2018 season’s “Monday Night Football” games, which are broadcast by the pay TV channel ESPN.

This season, you can also live stream the same selection of NFL games on mobile devices with the Yahoo Sports app.

So all you have to do to live stream “Monday Night Football” for free is download either the NFL App or the Yahoo Sports app and tune in from your preferred device.

Tonight, during the 2018 season’s first “Monday Night Football” broadcast, there are two games: The New York Jets vs. Detroit Lions, followed by Los Angeles Rams vs. Oakland Raiders.

What Time Does “Monday Night Football” Start?

For the 2018 NFL season’s first “Monday Night Football” game — Jets vs. Lions — kickoff time is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET at Ford Field in Detroit.

Tonight’s “Monday Night Football” features a rare double header. For the second game — Rams vs. Raiders — kickoff is scheduled for 10:20 p.m. ET at the Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, Calif.

Again, to watch “Monday Night Football” online for free, you can use either the NFL App or Yahoo sports app as explained above.

How to Live Stream ESPN for Free

If you’d like to watch ESPN online for free in general for a few days, many live streaming TV services include the sports-focus pay channel in their packages. They all have free trial periods of about a week available to new subscribers.

You can watch “Monday Night Football” online for free — and all ESPN content, for that matter — with streaming TV services such Fubo TV, Hulu Live, DirecTV Now, PlayStation Vue, Sling TV, and YouTube TV.

The monthly rate for a basic package that includes ESPN with these services ranges from roughly $ 25 to $ 40. You’ll be charged if you don’t cancel the service by the time the free trial period ends. So remember to cancel if you don’t want to become a paying subscriber.

How to talk to a real live person at AT&T, Comcast Xfinity and more

If you’ve tried to reach your cable TV provider lately, you well know that none of them seem to be putting a lot of emphasis on customer service these days. Instead of a real person, it’s much more common that you’ll engage with an automated voice that only is useful for guiding you to a pre-selected menu of common issues.

The problem with that is that you may have particular issues with your bill, technical woes or inquiries that might need to be addressed by multiple departments. So, what’s a customer to do?

Here’s how to reach a real live person at AT&T, Comcast Xfinity and other major cable providers.

Here’s how to reach a human at AT&T, Comcast Xfinity and more

AT&T

AT&T’s official customer service number is 800-331-0500 and that’s what I called to talk to a human. AT&T probably has the most robust automated voice system, and it’s hard to get around it, at least initially.

“So I can get you to the right place, can you tell me what prompted your call?” the male robo-voice said. I said that I had a problem with my bill and was asked to confirm my phone number.
That’s when it said, “Hang up and dial 611 or contact your wireless provider.” Instead, I pressed 0-0-0.
When I did that, the voice had one more question for me: “Are you calling about a previous AT&T bill?” I said yes.
That’s when it said the magic words I’d been waiting to hear: “Hang on while we connect you to an AT&T representative. For customer service, your call may be recorded.”
After a short wait, I was connected to a real person.
Wait time: 2:20 minutes

Comcast Xfinity

Comcast’s official customer service number is 800-945-2288, but I called 800-266-2278 to talk to a human. The thing about Comcast is that you have to enter a lot of personal information to get connected.

An automated male voice prompted me to verify my account by stating my partial address, which I did. Then it proceeded to play an advertisement for another service I had no interest in.

After that brief interlude, the voice told me that before it could connect me to an agent I needed to put in the last four digits of my Social Security number — or I could say “No.” I said no.

That’s when I pressed 0-0-0 and was immediately told I would be connected to an agent. Then the wait began. After a few seconds I was offered the opportunity to hang up, not lose my place in the queue and get a call back. I declined. “The hold time is approximately 15 to 20 minutes,” it said. OUCH.

Finally, after more than 30 minutes, I was connected to a real person.

Wait time: 32:39 minutes

Cox Communications

Cox’s official customer service number is 855-680-3750 and that’s what I dialed to talk to a human. When you listen to the prompts, you’ll learn you need to press 2 for billing or customer service.

You’ll also be prompted to put in your ZIP code and press 1 if you have an account. That’s when they tell you to “please wait.”

Like some other companies, Cox has a message waiting system that will send a text to your phone to connect you, if you choose to. I didn’t.

In just over 2 minutes I was talking to a real live person.

Wait time: 2:03 minutes

Spectrum/Charter Communications

Spectrum/Charter Communication’s official customer service number is 833-642-9259 and that’s what I dialed to talk to a human. When you listen to the prompts, you’ll learn you need to enter your phone number, then ZIP code.

An automated female voice asked me to “Please tell me what you’re calling about.” I had to press either 1 for technical support, 2 for billing or 3 for service changes. Instead, I hit 0 and she said, “Alright, let me transfer you to someone who can help.”

After a couple minutes, I was connected to a real human.

Wait time: 2 minutes

First Man Doesn’t Quite Live Up to Ryan Gosling’s Thoughtful Neil Armstrong Performance

Damien Chazelle, director of the macho-jazz wingding Whiplash and a floaty modern musical about a great American city, La La Land, is a flashy filmmaker of great ambition. You don’t scale a movie about the first guy to walk on the moon if you’re not. Chazelle’s fourth feature, First Man—which opens the 75th edition of the Venice Film Festival—tells the story of astronaut Neil Armstrong, one of the unflashiest heroes of NASA, if not of the whole last half of the 20th century. In 1969 Armstrong took the first step onto that strange, powdery surface and uttered a few simple words that captivated people all over the world. But in the years that followed, he largely retreated from publicity. In 2005, at the time James R. Hansen’s biography, First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong, was published, the former star astronaut was living quietly in a Cincinnati suburb. In 2001, while helping to conduct interviews for the official NASA oral history, professor and writer Douglas Brinkley met Armstrong and asked him if he’d ever gazed at the moon before that historic Apollo 11 flight. “No, I never did that,” he said.

Armstrong died in 2012, and it’s hard not to wonder what he’d make of Chazelle’s version of his story, adapted from Hansen’s book by screenwriter Josh Singer. This is a respectful movie, even a genuflecting one; there’s never a moment when Chazelle fails to let you know he’s doing important, valuable work. But that’s the problem: The movie feels too fussed-over for such a low-key hero. Its star, Ryan Gosling, turns in a discreet, sensitive performance, almost too sensitive for the movie around it: Minute after minute, Chazelle and cinematographer Linus Sandgren are right there with the (often) handheld camera, coming in tight for allegedly meaningful closeups or jiggling hard to connote, say, the brain-rattling feeling of being an astronaut leaving the Earth’s atmosphere in a space capsule. The wriggly camera work doesn’t make the jostling more dramatic. If anything, it makes the proceedings seem inconsequential, no-biggie events that need to be jazzed up visually with excess technique.

First Man Neil Armstrong Film with Ryan Gosling
Universal PicturesOn the heels of their six-time Academy Award®-winning smash, “La La Land,” Oscar®-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for Universal Pictures’ “First Man,” the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969.

That’s a drag, because Chazelle and Singer have taken visible care with some of the movie’s dramatic details. First Man doesn’t have the jaunty spirit of Philip Kaufman’s great 1983 Tom Wolfe adaptation, The Right Stuff, which focuses on the original Mercury astronauts, the precursors to Armstrong’s group, who flew the Gemini and Apollo missions. That movie’s cheerful casualness actually enhanced the sense of danger surrounding those early missions. Chazelle chooses another path, and his instincts aren’t inherently wrong. It took a long time for the Gemini astronauts, and later those of the Apollo missions, to reach the moon, and men died trying to get there; in the movie’s best moments, Chazelle makes you feel that weight. He succeeds in making the events directly preceding that first lunar landing, a mission undertaken by Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin (Corey Stoll) and Mike Collins (Lukas Haas), seem suitably tense, even though we all know how it turned out. First Man also helps you imagine the grief Armstrong must have felt when his close friend and colleague, Ed White (Jason Clarke), was burned to death—along with Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee—during a pre-launch test for Apollo 1. Gosling is sensitive enough as an actor to understand Armstrong’s devotion to science, to the point where he must have preferred its language of numbers and facts to the murkier arena of feelings.

There’s a lot of science in First Man. You hear plenty of important-sounding men intoning stuff about vectors and coordinates and the like—a space movie needs that. But there are also a lot of feelings—too many feelings, even for those of us who like them. Chazelle and Singer seem to want to balance the greatness of Armstrong’s achievement with his own personal tragedy: He and his wife, Janet (played, with a great deal of astronaut-wife fortitude, by Claire Foy), lost their young daughter to a brain tumor in the early 1960s; shortly thereafter, Armstrong signed on to become an astronaut. Chazelle seems desperate to link these two events, as if you couldn’t make a pretty good Neil Armstrong movie without doing so. Losing a child is a devastating experience. But in First Man, Gosling’s Armstrong is tasked with reminding us of his pain in practically every other scene: As his daughter is dying, he holds her and gazes at the moon, singing a lunar-themed lullaby. After her death, he has a hallucinatory vision of her playing with some other little kids. Immediately after the funeral, he solemnly slips her little beaded bracelet into a drawer. (Keep an eye on that bracelet—it’s going to make a dramatic return.) Janet reveals to a friend that Armstrong never talks about his daughter; that’s a believable, searing detail. It’s Chazelle, with his constant stream of movie language, who can’t stop jabbering about her.

In 2018, we generally feel bad for men who can’t express their emotions, and most of us are rightly happy that more men have learned it’s OK to do so. But does it really serve men of Armstrong’s generation to have young filmmakers applying Psych 101 principles to their emotions some 60 years after the fact? Chazelle dramatizes several instances in which Armstrong’s background as an aeronautical engineer—and his overall quick thinking—helped prevent disaster, showing that there’s joy in science and exploration by themselves. But too much of First Man made me feel protective, posthumously, of Armstrong’s emotional privacy. Armstrong must have been lying when he told Brinkley he’d never gazed upon the moon—come on, we all look at it from time to time. It belongs to all of us, as a song once said. But Armstrong’s answer indicates that there were some things he just didn’t want to talk about, especially to a stranger. Life, and its loss, is its own mystery. There’s no explanation, and no cure, for the moon inside.

Ellen DeGeneres Invites Demi Lovato To Live In Her House After Getting Out Of Rehab, Claims Latest Report

It seems that Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi really want to help Demi Lovato. They reportedly offered her their beach house once she gets out of rehab, so she can continue to recover from her July 24 overdose. The news was reported by August issue of OK!

Both Ellen and Portia have been heartbroken to find out what happened to Demi and they want to do anything they can in order to help her.

‘It’s no exaggeration to say Ellen adores Demi. It breaks her heart to see the singer this way,’ a source told OK!, according to Hollywood Life.

‘Ellen told Demi that their beach house [in Santa Barbra, Calif.] is hers whenever she wants it. It’s close to nature and the perfect place to escape the pressures of Hollywood. They’ve also extended an invitation for her to stay at their L.A. place,’ the same insider continued.

Ellen and Portia are offering Demi more than a place to stay.

The same source continued and said that Portia wants to introduce Demi to equestrian therapy and that, ‘Both she and Ellen are determined to help Demi recover.’

After what happened to Demi all Hollywood was there for her and more celebs offered to support and help her.

As it was previously reported, Demi was found unconscious in her Hollywood Hills home back on July 24. After that, she was rushed to Cedars Sinai Hospital. She was later released on August 4.

We wish Demi all the best and the strength and power of will to recover.

‘Bill Maher: Live from Oklahoma’: Trump’s ‘Microdick’ Is the Root of All His Problems

HBO

On Saturday night, HBO aired Bill Maher: Live from Oklahoma, the political satirist’s 11th stand-up special for the cable network. Its original title was Triggered, though apparently Maher thought better of naming his comedy routine after an internet-troll word.

Throughout the hour-long special, filmed at the 2,800-capacity Brady Theater in Tulsa, the 62-year-old comic delivered—by his own admission—many of his “greatest hits,” going after “safe spaces” and “trigger warnings” and Islam and fussing over Caitlyn Jenner’s genitals (she had gender-reassignment surgery last year, Bill, you don’t need to keep harping on it).

He assigned nicknames to top Trump administration officials, including former EPA chief Scott Pruitt (“three raccoons under a trench coat”), Attorney General Jeff Sessions (“a Confederate soldier”) and Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos (“mentally challenged”). Vice President Mike Pence, meanwhile, was “beyond Christian”—with Maher mimicking the politician in saying, “Life begins at erection”—though not as bad as Trump because he’s “not trying to become a dictator” and “is within the normal parameters of Republican awful.”

Russia and Croatia will face off in the World Cup quarterfinals on Saturday, July 7 at 2 p.m. ET.

As the World Cup reaches its apex, and the France vs. Uruguay and Brazil vs. Belgium games close out Friday, only a few countries remain in the running. After a month-long celebration of athleticism, patriotism, and all sorts of boundary-breaking, it’s down to the wire.

Russia, the host country for the 2018 World Cup, is riding a wave of success hardly anyone saw coming. After a penalty-shootout victory over much higher-ranked Spain, a victory against Croatia will give them a spot in the semi-finals.

INTIPUCA, El Salvador — In a little town in eastern El Salvador a statue has been built in honor of the first resident to make it to Washington D.C., way back in 1968. Since then, thousands have followed, both legally and illegally, forging a bond so close and so extensive that many of the folks here think what the North Americans call “the nation’s capital” could hardly function without workers from this sleepy, coastal town in El Salvador.
