On the trail of Mary, Queen of Scots

A major new film about the 16th-century queen will put the castles and battlefields of her tragic final days back in the spotlight. We follow in her blood-soaked footsteps

Patty Vengeance is really into Mary, Queen of Scots: “She’s seen as this feminist icon. For me, though, it’s more that she’s relatable – as a strong woman and a survivor.”

The 29-year-old writer and musician, who fronts the riot grrrl band Fistymuffs, is standing by the edge of the water in Leith, where, according to a plaque set into the quayside, Mary arrived from France in the haar-veiled early morning of 19 August 1561. The widowed teenager – tall, red-haired, an unearthly beauty – was the anointed ruler of Scotland, and she had come home.

Claire Foy has a secret talent that the Queen probably wouldn’t care for

Watch the queen conquer.

claire foy back pay
Netflix

The day we found out Claire Foy wouldn’t be returning for Netflix’s The Crown was a dark day in our offices, however it’s been amazing to watch how she’s really let her hair down since then. Ever since hanging up her tiara and cloak, she’s taken a role that couldn’t further from the Queen if she tried as Lisbeth Salander in The Girl in the Spider’s Web and she’s now showed off a secret skill never before seen in Buckingham Palace. So if you’ve ever wanted to imagine a younger Queen Elizabeth laying down a sick beat and rapping flawlessly…Claire Foy’s got your back.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web star recently visited the set of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she chatted about her new projects and what life was like post-Netflix. While on the show, Fallon and the show’s resident band ambushed her.

‘I’ve heard some weird rumour on the internet,’ Jimmy Fallon began.

She instantly did what any sensible person would do and advised him, ‘Never trust the internet.’

Regardless, Fallon charged on and told her, ‘I heard that you know all the lyrics to Rapper’s Delight.’

If you’re not entirely sure what Rapper’s Delight is, it’s an iconic Sugarhill Gang song which starts ‘I said a hip hop’. (You know the one.) The moment Jimmy Fallon outed her love of the Sugarhill Gang however, she burst into laughter immediately and put her head in her hands.

Fallon told her, ‘You can always say no.’

However, he slyly looked over at the audience who cheered her on as the band started to play. And all props to her, Claire Foy took the microphone and proceeded to raise the roof.

You’re going to want to see the video, which is absolutely amazing to watch above. She somehow manages to nail the song while retaining a distinct posh Britishness about her, which is both endearing and hilarious at the same time.

TBH, we’re just annoyed Jimmy Fallon cut her off early as we could have easily watched an hour of her doing rap covers. Please, Claire Foy – drop a rap album. We’re begging you.

Wale Claps Back At Shady G.O.O.D Music Artist 070 Shake: “Go Awf, Queen”

Wale Performs at Coda

Source: Hugh Dillon/WENN.com / WENN

Wale wasted no time responding to G.O.O.D. Music artist 070 Shake after she decided to get shady on Twitter last week. Far from the first time the “Black Bonnie” rapper has clapped back, we’re not at all surprised to see Wale wants smoke.

In case you missed it, a fan hit Twitter to suggest a collaboration between Wale, Kid CudiWiz Khalifa, and 070 Shake. Instead of keeping her thoughts to herself, 070 Shake responded: “eh not really feeling the Wale part.”

Wale caught wind of the unnecessary comment and responded,  “Lmao love how u went out ur way to say that . Go awf, queen.” See his tweet below.

After Wale called 070 Shake out, the rookie tried to back her way out of big dawg beef…but it was too late. “You just too fire for me bro feel me, love you” Shake wrote. But Wale wasn’t feeling her, telling the young artist he was “cappin’” and once again referring to her as a “queen.”

In other words…don’t let your mouth write a check that your *ss can’t cash, Shake.

Is Queen Latifah’s Longtime Girlfriend Expecting A Baby?

Queen Latifah is reportedly expecting a child with her rumored girlfriend Eboni Nichols.

According to Radar Online, Eboni and Latifah are engaged, and the gossip site posted photos of Eboni flaunting her growing baby bump.

“Friends are saying Latifah and Eboni are finally engaged,” said an insider.

And a source added: “This will be the first child for Latifah.”

Latifah met Nichols, a choreographer and former Los Angeles Lakers cheerleader, on the set of “Dancing with the Stars” in 2009.

They broke up in 2015 (some reports say it was 2016) but rekindled the romance last year. The Queen has never publicly confirmed her sexual preference, but the duo was caught kissing in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, in 2013.

Meanwhile, RadarOnline also claims the 48-year-old hip-hop star has been secretly visiting a cancer treatment center in Beverly Hills for almost a year.

“It’s a serious concern,” said an insider. “She goes every couple of weeks and spends two or three hours inside the infusion unit. She’s been going for at least eight months.”

via RadarOnline:

The Chicago star usually pulls up to the building by herself in a white Range Rover…Occasionally, she’s chauffeured in a Rolls-Royce by an assistant.

After a recent appointment, Latifah was seen clutching a stack of documents in one hand and a revitalizing drink in the other.

On Oct. 2, she was spotted staggering out of the center, which is affiliated with the highly regarded Cedars-Sinai group.

Latifah’s has made no secret of her desire to start a family, telling the 2017 Television Critics Association audience that she “had to get a lot of partying out of my system early in life for about 40 years, you know what I’m saying. I’m good now. I think I’m ready,” she confessed.

Queen Latifah ‘Unable To Accept’ Award For Personal Reasons

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Queen Latifah is “unable to accept” an award named for a pioneering opera singer, citing personal reasons.

The Marian Anderson Award made the announcement on its website. The organization wasn’t more explicit, and Queen Latifah’s spokeswoman did not immediately return an email Friday.

The award is given in Philadelphia to critically acclaimed artists for their humanitarian work. Anderson was the first black singer to perform at the Metropolitan Opera.

Past winners have included Oprah Winfrey, Maya Angelou and Quincy Jones.

Born Dana Owens, Queen Latifah won a Grammy for her 1994 album “Black Reign” and earned an Oscar nomination for her role in 2002’s “Chicago.”

The organization says its Nov. 20 awards gala will be rescheduled, and it “hopes to honor Queen Latifah in the future.”
