Christoph Waltz on How to Play the Villain and Dreaming of a Tarantino Reunion

Christoph Waltz can do just about anything on-screen, as evidenced by the diverse roles he’s tackled since winning his first Oscar for his breakout 2009 turn as the ruthless and cunning SS officer Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. Be it as a bounty hunter in Tarantino’s Django Unchained (for which he won his second Academy Award), as a computer genius searching for the meaning of life in Terry Gilliam’s The Zero Theorem, or as the dishonest husband of artist Margaret Keane in Tim Burton’s Big Eyes, the 62-year-old Austrian actor has exhibited a range and versatility that’s made him one of Hollywood’s most valuable artists. And with his latest, Alita: Battle Angel, he continues that streak, proving that he’s always ready for a new challenge—which, in this case, means kicking some serious ass.

Not that he was chomping at the bit to get in on the rock-’em, sock-’em action.

“I’m not eager,” Waltz candidly admits about his combat duties in Robert Rodriguez’s sci-fi saga (in theaters Feb. 14). “Eagerness very easily turns into an obstacle. The action, if it’s required, I’m happy to do it. If it’s dangerous, I’m not doing it at all, because there are highly accomplished professionals to take care of that. And if it’s something I can do, I do it not only willingly, but happily. But eagerly? I wouldn’t call it that.”

Glenn Close Wins Best Actress SAG Award For ‘The Wife’ After ‘Fatal Attraction’ Reunion With Michael Douglas

Glenn Close and Michael Douglas presented last night at the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) shortly before she accepted the best actress award for The Wife. It was a fascinating Fatal Attraction reunion and highlighted how things in Hollywood are beginning to shift for older actors. Douglas and Close took the nation by storm with the psychological thriller that showed Close as a dangerous and unhinged jilted, woman who couldn’t let Douglas go after the two had a casual affair. Seeing the two present together reinforced how roles are not only opening for older actors and actresses but how well-received they are. Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin were both nominated for their performances in the Netflix series The Kominsky Method.

Glenn Close is a seven-time Academy Award-nominated actress yet hasn’t won the Oscar yet. Fans are hoping this year proves to be the time Close brings the gold statue home. After many wins this award season, things are looking up for Close and there are high expectations she wins.

To date, Close has won the Broadcast Film Critics’ Association Award, Golden Globe, SAG Award, Palm Springs International Film Festival Award, Satellite Award, the Capri Actress Award, Hollywood Film Award, New Mexico Film Critics’ Award, and the San Diego Film Critics’ Society Award.

There is no doubt that winning the Oscar for her role as Joan Castleman would be a career-defining moment for Close and her fans.

During Glenn Close’s acceptance speech for winning the best actress SAG award, she made some remarks about the importance of making eye connection through films.

You may hear her speech in the video player below.

“I… one of the most powerful things that we have as human beings are two eyes looking into two eyes, and film is the only art form that allows us the close-up, and it substitutes for real life, two eyes looking into two eyes. And I think we have to remember how powerful that is in a world that is consumed with different size screens; that the power that we have are two human eyes looking into two other eyes. That will give us empathy and understanding.”

Glenn Close is known for her remarkable characters and performances and it’s no wonder why she reaches so many people. With her focus and emphasis on creating empathy through storytelling, there is no doubt that she truly is a master of her craft.

What do you think? Should Gleen Close follow the SAG Awards with an Oscar win? She is up against

‘I Am the Night’: A Disappointing, Bloody, and Kinky ‘Wonder Woman’ Reunion

TNT

In the great Chris wars of our time, as Hemsworth, Evans, Pratt, and Pine watch in politely-stifled alarm as the internet relitigates which of them is the “best” every other month in perpetuity, one false move can send a man tumbling down the ranks. One minute, a chiseled blond blockbuster god is riding the high of playing a Parks and Rec goofball, a guardian of the galaxy, and the Lego Movie’s Emmet Brickowski, for instance, and the next he’s responsible for luring us toward disaster with a Passengers or—I’m sorry—a Jurassic World.

It’s a fickle game. And Pine has been playing it well. In the last two-and-a-half years, the only Chris who can sing can also boast (if he were so inclined to boast, which he probably isn’t, since he also seems like the nicest Chris next to Chris Evans) a near-sterling record of roles in recommendable hits. Hot bank robber. Superhero boyfriend. Science dad. Spider-Man. He could do no wrong.

Until I Am the Night.

LeToya Luckett Talks Beyoncè Reunion; Shows Baby Shower Pics

It’s been almost two decades since former Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett was fired from the group, and now the mom-to-be is speaking out about life after parting ways with one of the greatest musical acts of all time.

“Management made a decision,” she explained to T.I. & Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle castmate Toya Wright.

“There was nothing at the time that I could do about it. Did it hurt? Absolutely. Because we were friends. I went to school with these girls.”

Beyoncé and LaTavia [Roberson] had been in the group the longest. Then LaTavia went to school. Met Kelly [Rowland]. And then Beyoncé showed up at my school one day as the new beautiful girl with this new beautiful voice. It was just so cool to experience something like that at such a young age. But that decision was made … we were sisters.”

Destiny’s Child fans were thrilled when a photo emerged recently of a LeToya reunited with Beyoncè backstage on the “OTR II” tour. The singer even says that Bey gave her some parenting advice when they met up.

“That was such an awesome moment. There was so much joy in that room. She was … she went into straight mommy mode as far like “Oh my god. What’s she doing? Is she doing this, is she doing that? And I was showing them my sonogram pictures and everything. She was just so excited. We’re both very, very happy, and you could feel the love in the room. There wasn’t a lot of people in the room. It felt like it was just us, chatting it up.”

Of course, Letoya’s joy has increased since her marriage to Tommicus Walker and the announcement of her pregnancy. Their baby girl is due soon and Luckett recently had a baby shower, which she shared photos of on social media.
