Rihanna Talks New Music, Says She Doesn’t Plan to Collaborate with Drake ‘Anytime Soon’: ‘I Don’t See It Happening’

In a wide-ranging new interview with the New York Times focused on her Fenty luxury fashion line, Rih took a moment and touched on her new music.

As expected, Rihanna confirmed that her long-awaited next project will be a reggae album.

Check out a few excerpts from the interview:

H: I’m not in the Navy,29 but I am Navy adjacent. So I have to ask some questions I saw floating around the message boards.

RF: O.K. [Laughs.]

JH: Is it true you are doing a reggae album?

RF: Yeah.

JH: You are? O.K., are you collaborating with Lady Gaga?

RF: No.

JH: Oh, they think you’re doing a collaboration with Lady Gaga.

RF: Maybe because she followed me on Instagram. It’s not in the books right now, but I’m not against it.

JH: Are you going to collaborate with Drake again?30

RF: Not anytime soon, I don’t see it happening. Not on this album, that’s for sure.

JH: What is the album called?

RF: Uh, I don’t know yet.

JH: If you don’t know yet, then you probably don’t know when it’s coming out?

RF: I don’t.

JH: Do you have any names under consideration?

RF: No, so far it’s just been R9,31 thanks to the Navy. I’m about to call it that probably, ’cause they have haunted me with this “R9, R9, when is R9 coming out?” How will I accept another name after that’s been burned into my skull?

JH: It’s this gift to the fans who have been most hungry for it.

RF: That would be cute.

Well…at least we know the album is coming. Eventually. Read the rest of Rih’s interview here.

Deutsche Bank Staff Eyed Trump, Kushner Transactions, NYT Says

Multiple transactions involving legal entities controlled by President Donald Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner aroused the suspicion of anti-money laundering specialists at Deutsche Bank in 2016 and 2017, according to the New York Times.

The specialists recommended the matter be referred to a unit of the Treasury Department that polices financial crimes, but bank executives rejected their advice, the newspaper reported on Sunday.

As a result, the “suspicious activity reports” prepared by compliance staff members about the Trump and Kushner transactions were never filed with the government, the New York Times reported.

The report didn’t give specifics about the nature of the transactions but said some of them involved money being transferred back and forth with foreign entities or individuals. Former employees of Deutsche Bank, which has lent billions to the Trump and Kushner companies, told the New York Times that the decision not to report the transactions reflected the bank’s indifferent approach toward money laundering laws and its focus on protecting its relationship with important clients.

Representatives for the Trump Organization told the New York Times that the company had no knowledge of any flagged transactions with Deutsche Bank. A representative for Kushner Companies told the New York Times that any allegations regarding Deutsche Bank and Kushner Companies that involve money laundering are made up and false.

Don Lemon Says He’s All About Taking Care Of His Health These Days – Here’s Why

According to Page Six, Don Lemon is all about his health, in fact, he refuses to eat junk food almost entirely. The CNN anchor recently said to the outlet that he’s more concerned with nutrition and health now that he’s slowly getting older.

Lemon said to reporters from Page Six that he is a “man of a certain age now,” and has to make particular changes to his diet, otherwise, he won’t fare well for the future. “I would have to cut out the fried food,” the CNN anchor remarked.

With that said, however, he still is a “Southern guy” in his soul so he has to eat all of the good southern foods like fried chicken, gumbo, crawfish bisque, crab cakes, hush puppies, french fries, and catfish.

Followers have come to know Don Lemon, especially in the Trump era, for his controversial comments regarding the president, whom he believes to be one of the worst and most damaging politicians in recent memory.

DePaul University professor, Jeffrey McCall, said to reporters from Fox News that Don isn’t a traditional anchor, in the original meaning of the term. The professor explained that Don is at the forefront of a TV show in which his opinions are at the primary focus of the program’s content.

Reported first by Fox News, the outlet explained his break into broadcasting, including his career start as a reporter who dished on breaking news and major stories. Over time, however, his opinions came to be more respected by the left-wing establishment, especially since Trump’s election in 2016.

The academic said to Fox News that Don Lemon’s reporting style was emblematic of the way in which CNN has focused primarily on spouting opinions, rather than fact-based news reports. Whether that be true or not, now that Don is in his 50s, his career is at its peak, and his on-air persona is appreciated by his base over.

If he intends to continue giving his opinion at the network, he needs to cut out all of the fried food, and focus more on foods that serve longevity, rather than just his taste.

Ohio State Team Doctor Abused At Least 177 Men, and Over 20 Officials Knew, Report Says

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — A now-dead Ohio State team doctor sexually abused at least 177 male students from the 1970s through the 1990s, and numerous university officials got wind of what was going on over the years but did little or nothing to stop him, according to a report released by the school Friday.

Dr. Richard Strauss groped or ogled young men while treating athletes from at least 16 sports and working at the student health center and his off-campus clinic, investigators from a law firm hired by the university found.

“We are so sorry that this happened,” Ohio State President Michael Drake said at a news conference, using words like “shocking,” ”horrifying” and “heartbreaking” to describe the findings.

He said there was a “consistent institutional failure” that spanned years, adding that Ohio State — the nation’s third-largest university, with almost 65,000 students and nearly a half-million living alumni — “fell short of its responsibility to its students, and that’s regrettable and inexcusable.”

At the same time, Drake, who has led the institution since 2014, sought to distance Ohio State from what happened more than two decades ago: “This is not the university of today.”

The report on Strauss, who killed himself in 2005 nearly a decade after he was quietly pushed out, could cost Ohio State dearly by corroborating lawsuits brought against it by a multitude of victims.

The findings put Strauss in a league with gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar of Michigan State University, who was accused of molesting at least 250 women and girls and is serving what amounts to a life sentence. Michigan State ultimately settled with his victims for $ 500 million.

Similarly, the Jerry Sandusky child sexual-abuse scandal that brought down legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paterno in 2011 has cost the university more than a quarter-billion dollars in settlements, fines, legal costs and other expenses.

Many of Strauss’ accusers who have spoken publicly said they were masturbated or otherwise touched inappropriately during physical exams or leered at in the locker rooms. Many told investigators that they thought his behavior was an “open secret” and that they believed their coaches, trainers and other team doctors knew was going on.

The students described the examinations as being “hazed” or going through a “rite of passage.” Athletes joked about Strauss’ behavior, referring to him with nicknames like “Dr. Jelly Paws.”

The abuse went on from 1979 to 1997, nearly Strauss’ entire time at Ohio State, and took place ace at various locations across campus, including medical examining rooms, locker rooms, showers and saunas, according to investigators. Strauss, among other things, forced student patients to strip naked, purportedly to “assess” their conditions, or lured them into intimate situations by setting up bogus “medical studies.”

The report concluded that scores of Ohio State personnel knew of complaints and concerns about Strauss’ conduct as early as 1979 but failed for years to investigate or take meaningful action.

Ohio State Provost Bruce McPheron said the report does not address whether anyone went to law enforcement at the time or was required to do so under the law back then.

In the wake of the report, some of Strauss’ victims called on the university to take responsibility for its inaction and the harm inflicted by the doctor.

“Dreams were broken, relationships with loved ones were damaged, and the harm now carries over to our children as many of us have become so overprotective that it strains the relationship with our kids,” Kent Kilgore said in a statement.

Steve Estey, an attorney for some of the former students who are suing, said: “If OSU refuses to take responsibility we will continue with civil litigation and put this in front of a jury for 12 people to judge their actions.”

No one has publicly defended Strauss, though family members have said they were shocked by the allegations.

At least 50 members of the athletic department staff, including many coaches, corroborated victims’ accounts of Strauss’ abuse, the report said. But students’ allegations never left the department or the health center until 1996.

At that point, Strauss was investigated and let go as a team doctor and physician at the health center but was allowed to retain his tenured faculty position.

Investigators said Strauss set up an off-campus clinic within months, receiving assurances from the associate vice president of health sciences and academic affairs that “there would be no issue” with him engaging in part-time private practice while on the faculty. The abuse continued there.

He continued to plead for his job back as an on-campus doctor, finally going to then-President Gordon Gee with a letter in 1997. His pleas were rejected, at which point Strauss was allowed to retire with emeritus status, a mark of distinguished service — an honor the university is now taking steps to revoke.

Gee, now president of West Virginia University, said Friday he has no recollection of Strauss.

The lawsuits against Ohio State are headed for mediation. They seek unspecified damages. Drake said the investigation alone has cost the school $ 6.2 million.

Separately, the U.S. Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights is examining whether Ohio State responded promptly and fairly to students’ complaints. The department could cut the university’s federal funding if it is found to have violated civil rights protections.

Before Friday’s release, the doctor’s accusers had alleged that Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan was one of the coaches back then who were aware of concerns about Strauss and didn’t stop him. Jordan, an assistant wrestling coach from 1987 to 1995, was not mentioned by name in the report, and a spokesman said the document showed the congressman did not know about the abuse.

New study says processed foods make us crave more calories

processed food

What is healthy when it comes to food? That’s a question that many people struggle to answer on a daily basis around the world. How much sugar, fat, carbs, and salt our bodies need has been the topic of debate for, well, pretty much forever, and constantly-shifting nutritional guidelines aren’t making things any easier to understand.

Calories are, of course, the biggest factor in how much weight a person loses or gains, but how we get those calories can vary dramatically from person to person. Now, a new study suggests that eating so-called “ultra-processed” foods may be fueling the obesity epidemic and contributing to overeating across the board.

Wendy Williams Sounds Off, Says ‘There’s a Hot Place in Hell’ for Women Who Sleep with Married Men [Video]

Wendy Williams shared her thoughts on Ayesha Curry’s comments about being frustrated with women who try and get too comfortable with her husband, Steph Curry, and kept it real.

While she didn’t directly address her own estranged husband’s cheating scandal, it’s clear that her commentary came from a personal place — and rightfully so.

via Page Six:

“There are a lot of women with no respect for a marriage,” Williams said, before pausing. “You know what I’m saying? A lot of women who know your man is married and will have the nerve to be right up under him, right under your nose.”

After Williams aired a clip of Ayesha talking to Jada Pinkett Smith on “Red Table Talk” about a woman who flirted with Steph and proceeded to tell Ayesha, “Oh, honey, you know what you signed up for,” Williams threw barbs.

“For you lonely girls who can’t keep their hands off other people’s men, there’s a hot place in hell for you,” the daytime host said.

Is the Baby Here? Kanye West Says Kim K. Has ‘Four Kids’

Has baby No. 4 arrived? Kim Kardashian’s latest tweet is raising eyebrows! On Monday, May 6, the reality star, 38, shared a screenshot of a text message from husband Kanye West on Twitter. She captioned the photo, “Morning texts.”

The text read: “This is your life. Married with four kids, get people out of jail, cover of Vogue, go to church every week with your family. Dreams come true.”

Many fans on Twitter wondered if the rapper’s “married with four kids” statement meant that the couple welcomed their fourth child. However, a source confirms to Us Weekly that the baby has not arrived just yet. West, 41, and Kardashian are the parents of North, 5, Saint, 3, and Chicago, 15, months, and are expecting their latest arrival sometime this month.

Us broke the news in January that the couple are expecting their fourth child, a son, via surrogate. They welcomed Chicago via gestational carrier as well, as the Selfish author suffered from a life-threatening condition, placenta accreta, during her first two pregnancies.

The model has been anxiously awaiting the arrival and celebrated with a calming baby shower on April 27.

“Because I am freaking out so much, I just want a zen-like CBD-themed baby shower,” she told E! News before the celebration. “I just want massages, I want to do like a tea ceremony with crystals and we’re going to have a drink at this baby shower — we’re not pregnant … Massages for all, like, just meditation, calm before the storm baby shower.”

The pair have also not decided on a name yet for their son. “We all weigh in,” Kardashian told Jimmy Kimmel in April. “I definitely take a family survey, but it’s usually after the baby’s born and we’re trying to figure out what the baby looks like. I usually go about three or four days nameless until I feel that it really connects with me.”

The KKW Beauty founder then noted she’s hoping for a family name: “I was truthfully thinking about just naming him Rob, [after] my brother. But then it’s like, North, Saint, Chicago, Rob. It doesn’t really go. I really was feeling like that, or Robert. And my brother approved it, so that’s, like, our one kind of name. I like Rob West.”

Caster Semenya, Defiant After Race Win, Says She Won’t Take Hormone Reducing Drugs

Caster Semenya was defiant in every way at what very well could be her last 800 meter race.

Her raised fist at the start. Her unstoppable victory. And with her reply Friday to the big question of whether she will now submit to new testosterone regulations in track and field and take hormone-reducing medication.

“Hell no,” the Olympic champion from South Africa said.

Semenya responded to her defeat in a landmark court case against track and field’s governing body two days earlier with a resounding win in a place where she’s done nothing but win the last four years — over two laps of the track.

She won the 800 meters at the opening Diamond League meeting of the season in Doha, Qatar, with a meet record of 1 minute, 54.98 seconds. It was her fourth-fastest time ever. The only person ahead of her at any time during the race was the pacemaker.

Semenya’s nearest challenger, the Olympic silver medalist Francine Niyonsaba, was nearly three seconds and about 20 meters behind her — barely in the picture. Ajee Wilson of the United States was third.

It was Semenya’s first 800 meter race this year and first since losing her case against the IAAF this week.

“Actions speak louder than words,” Semenya told the BBC. “When you are a great champion, you always deliver.”

But Semenya’s four-year dominance over two laps — Friday’s win was her 30th straight in the 800 continuing a run that started in late 2015 — may now be at an end.

Ended not by another competitor, but by new regulations set to come into effect Wednesday. They require the South African star and other female athletes with high levels of natural testosterone to medically lower them to be eligible to compete in events ranging from 400 meters to the mile.

Semenya failed to overturn those rules in her appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Now, her career appears to be at a crossroads: Does she take medication to lower her testosterone? The medication will likely inhibit her athletic performance and could blunt her dominance. Or does she switch events and run in long-distance races not affected by the regulations?

She was emphatic when she told reporters after Friday’s race that she wouldn’t take the medication.

“That’s an illegal method,” she said.

But Semenya also didn’t give a clear idea of what she would do next. She said she wouldn’t move up to the 5,000 meters and she definitely wouldn’t retire.

“God has decided my career, God will end my career,” she said in the BBC interview. “No man, or any other human, can stop me from running. How am I going to retire when I’m 28? I still feel young, energetic. I still have 10 years or more in athletics.

“It doesn’t matter how I’m going to do it. What matters is I’ll still be here. I am never going anywhere.”

Semenya’s comments may foreshadow an appeal against the CAS ruling, aimed first at allowing Semenya to defend her 800 title at the world championships, also in Doha, in September and October while not taking the hormone-suppressing drugs.

But, if she keeps her promise not to lower her testosterone, there is a chance that Friday was the last time that Semenya runs in the 800, where she is a double Olympic and a three-time world champion, and arguably the best female athlete to run the distance in 40 years.

Her career, however, seems destined to be overshadowed by the testosterone debate, which has the potential for implications far beyond her own results.

Semenya gave away little on the track to indicate it might be her last race at the distance. She raised her right fist when announcers introduced her before the race.

She was presented with a bunch of flowers and tossed them to the crowd at the end. She then gave a thumbs-up to fans, flashed a brief smile, and walked off the track.

Ninja Says There’s ‘Always Going to Be Trash Talk’ Online, But It’s Up to Parents to Help Police It

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, who scored a legion of fans with Fortnite livestreams that have hooked millions, says trash-talking in the online gaming community needs to be monitored – but said it’s up to parents to help police it, too.

“There’s always that friendly banter. Sometimes it gets a little rough,” Ninja, one of the 2019 TIME 100 honorees, said at the TIME 100 Gala Tuesday. “But I think that in general just the Internet as a whole is a place where people can say whatever they want with anonymity. It always needs to be monitored and people need to always be careful.”

But, he added: “I challenge parents to make sure that they’re reading their children’s tweets and their comments on Instagram posts and monitoring them. You know, be good parents.”

Thanks to the blue-haired pro gamer’s mastery of the insanely popular game, he’s extended his staggering reach into an offline empire. Blevins came to the TIME 100 Gala on Tuesday night in New York City to celebrate with the latest crop of luminaries

He said that becoming a professional gamer is incredibly difficult, but it’s achievable with hard work and dedication.

“I think you put your whole heart into what you want. And if you have the time — which everyone has the time — you can play 8 hours a day and still have 8 hours left in your day to go to school, do well, go to work. And even with a full-time job, you can still put in 8 hours,” he said.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster took part in Ninja’s iconic record-smashing stream last year that drew Drake and Travis Scott, drawing more than 600,000 viewers so it was only fitting that Smith-Schuster wrote Ninja’s TIME 100 profile.

“I was among the millions of people all across the world who had been watching Ninja play ‘Fortnite,’ the popular video game, every day for months,” he wrote in TIME. “He was the unquestioned best in the world at his craft, something I had so much respect for both as an athlete and as a fan. Now, he was single-handedly blending gaming and pop culture.”

Alex Trebek Says He’ll Return For ‘Jeopardy’ Season 36 — Lists Lake House For Sale

Alex Trebek wrapped up Jeopardy Season 35 and gave a special health update to his fans. The 78-year-old host of the show announced during Season 35 he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He made the announcement in a video to his fans and in return, they rallied together in prayer and well wishes for the game show host.

On the last day of Jeopardy’s Season 35 taping, Alex Trebek provided a video update and stated the following.

“I wanted once again to thank you for your continuing messages of encouragement and support, particularly the many cards I’ve received from young people. I’m touched beyond words. I’ve always tried to be straight with you, and I’m not going to stop now, so despite what you may have heard, I’m feeling good. I’m continuing with my therapy and we, by we, the staff, is already working on our next season, the 36th year of Jeopardy.”

Jeopardy returns for Season 36 in September 2019.

You may see the full video announcement made by Alex Trebek in the video player below.

As Alex Trebek continues to focus on his health over the spring and summer, his fans continue to pray for him and hope he makes a full recovery.

In other news, Alex Trebek has listed his Lake Nacimiento, California home for $ 1.399 million. The house is described as being 2,600 square feet and includes a 1,500 square foot workshop. Located on 30 acres of Lake Nacimiento, there is a covered dock and ramp with a private launch making it perfect for water enthusiasts.

The property is furnished and includes some extras such as his and her Honda ATVs, a Sea-Doo and even a jet ski.

Alex Trebek began hosting Jeopardy in 1984 and many can’t imagine the long-running game show without him at the helm.

Though Alex Trebek is committed and determined to return to the show for its 36th season, it seems that will be his last. Alex Trebek’s contract expires in 2022, but he has hinted that he may retire in 2020.

It’s too early to tell what Alex Trebek will ultimately do. He appears strong, healthy and in good spirits and is motivated to return for Season 36.

Jackée Harry Says Eartha Kitt Once “Slapped The F%#! Outta Me” Over A Man

Jackée Harry and Eartha Kitt

Source: Michael Bezjian/Getty Images for Entertainment Studios and Bryan Bedde / Getty

Archive this one in little-known and very crazy Hollywood history facts.

Jackée Harry, former star of 227, revealed on Twitter on Wednesday that she had a less than pleasant encounter at one time with the late acting and singing legend, Eartha Kitt. She didn’t say when, but shared that the greatest Catwoman of all pulled out her claws, or make that her hand, and slapped Harry. It was all over a cheating man.

She recounted the story after writer Michael Segalov asked people what their most surreal encounter was with someone famous. Harry said Kitt “slapped the f%#!” out of her because she was messing around with Kitt’s man, not knowing that the guy and the icon were in a relationship:

We can’t imagine how crazy of a scene that was, but we are glad that Harry didn’t mind sharing.

Interesting enough, Kitt had her own less than pleasant encounter with another woman, pertaining to a man. She said in historian Donald Bogle’s book, Bright Boulevards, Bold Dreams, that Nat King Cole’s wife, Maria (Natalie’s mother), wrote her a letter telling her to watch herself with Nat. Even though he and Kitt weren’t involved, she claims he sent her some flowers after they wrapped up working on the film St. Louis Blues. The note with the flowers read, “Handy misses Go-Go,” which were the names of their characters. She sent a note back reading “Go-Go also misses Handy.” Maria caught wind of it and made her displeasure with their friendship known.

“She [Maria] sent me a beaded cashmere sweater as a thank-you gift with a note pinned to it that must have poisoned the pen that wrote it,” Kitt said in the book. According to her, the note read, “I don’t know if you think of yourself as some kind of temptress siren but the film is over and Go-Go (you) is gone, let’s leave it that way.”

It sounds like Kitt certainly heeded that warning, and Harry likely learned a lesson from the star’s hard hand…

Are Baseball Umpires Wrong As Often As Fans Think They Are? Yes, One Study Says

Baseball is back, and fans can anticipate another season of amazing catches, overpowering pitching, tape-measure home runs – and, yes, controversial calls that lead to blow-ups between umpires and players.

Home plate umpires are at the heart of baseball; every single pitch can require a judgment call. Yet ask any fan or player, and they’ll tell you that many of these calls are incorrect – errors that can affect strategy, statistics and even game outcomes.

Just how many mistakes are made?

Comprehensive umpire performance statistics are not readily known, tracked or made available. Major League Baseball doesn’t seem interested in sharing the historical data.

Could it be because the numbers aren’t flattering?

Luckily, every MLB pitch is tracked and made available – numbers then have to be accessed, downloaded, sorted and evaluated. This takes time and computing power. In a new study with support from a team of Boston University graduate students, we closely analyzed how many balls get called strikes and vice versa. The accuracy of all home plate umpires was ranked and age and experience taken into account.

While the human element of the game certainly adds color, our results show that it comes at a high cost: far too many mistakes.

Mining the data

All 30 Major League Baseball stadiums are outfitted with triangulated tracking cameras that follow baseballs from the pitcher’s hand until it crosses home plate. Ball location can be tracked up to 50 times during each pitch, and accuracy is said to have a margin of error of 1 inch. This information is used to evaluate players, but MLB doesn’t share the results in a way that allows fans to easily evaluate the performance of umpires.

We analyzed nearly 4 million pitches over the course of the last 11 regular seasons. This data, which had been collected by MLB-owned Statcast and Pitch f/x, was sorted, formatted and superimposed on a standard strike zone map.

Using this available technology, we measured ball and strike calls for accuracy. We then ranked the error rates for each active umpire, creating a “Bad Call Ratio.” The higher the ratio, the worse the umpire.

The findings were troubling.

Botched calls and high error rates are rampant. MLB home plate umpires make incorrect calls at least 20% of the time – one in every five calls. In the 2018 season, MLB umpires made 34,246 incorrect ball and strike calls for an average of 14 per game, or 1.6 per inning. Last season, 55 games – 2.2% of the total played – ended with an incorrect call.

When batters had two strikes, the error rate for all umpires increased – incorrect calls happen 29% of the time, almost double the error rate when the batter had one or no strikes.

We also found that the highest error rates did not come from younger, less experienced umpires; they came from the older, veteran umpires. The average MLB umpire is 46 years old, with 13 years of experience. But the top performers between 2008 and 2018 had an average age of 33 years old and had less than three years of experience at the big league level. Like professional baseball players, professional umpires seem to peak at a certain age.

Despite years of data-driven evidence, MLB has notoriously resisted retiring poorly performing umpires and hiring better-performing ones. The league remains top heavy with aging umpires, making it difficult for fresh new talent to make impact.

Umpires can still play a role

For all of the ways MLB has incorporated technology into the game – the radar gun, instant replay, pitch graphics, Doppler radar – the league has resisted deploying this technology to assist with calling balls and strikes.

Umpires continue to call balls and strikes like they did a century ago when Babe Ruth played.

I’m not proposing that baseball bring in robots and fire the umpires; baseball has too many one-off situations and complexities to assume a bot could replace an umpire. But MLB does have a unique opportunity to use existing technology and strengthen human-software collaboration so umpires can do a better job.

Umpires could easily be fitted with ear pieces connecting them to a control center that conveys real-time ball and strike information. These tech-assisted umpires could then make calls correctly, quickly and effortlessly. Time-honored and much beloved behind-the-plate signs, signals and sounds would still exist. And umpires could remain the final arbiter, having override ability under certain circumstances, such as if a ball hits the ground before crossing the plate or if a system outage occurs.

Strong recruiting, hiring and retention of superior performing umpires coupled with tech aids would reduce error rates and also help dampen biased pitch calling. Strike zone subjectivity would be minimized, allowing batters and pitchers to focus more on their craft and less on guessing a specific umpire’s strike zone quirks. It would also reduce conflict between teams and umpires. And imagine how much the player and fan experience would improve if more than 34,000 annual incorrect calls vanished.

Sherri Shepherd Says Barbara Walters Had Her Crying ‘For Three Years Straight’ On ‘The View’

Former “The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd is speaking out about her tenure on the ABC morning show, telling Entertainment Tonight that Barbara Walters had her crying for “three years straight.”

Shepherd’s comments come after the release of the tell-all book “Ladies Who Punch,” which explores all the alleged conflicts between the women of “The View.” Shepherd describes her time on the Emmy-winning daytime talker as “the best experience of my life” but she “cried for three years straight” due to “a very tough taskmaster who I love her to death. It’s Barbara Walters.”

Shepherd was a host of the show from 2007 to 2014. She claims her former boss “was tough on the people that she loved, and she helped me find my voice.”

Adding, “So I will forever be indebted to Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Jenny McCarthy for the time that I had on ‘The View,’” Shepherd said, “because what I have now is because of ‘The View.’ ”

As noted by USA Today, “Ladies Who Punch” spills all the messy backstage antics, from a confrontation between Walters and Rosie O’Donnell, to Hasselbeck’s meltdown after Walters’ on-air mistreatment and Jenny’s claim that Barbara was always gunning for her because of her outfit choices.

“When they were at ‘The View,’ some people had some not-so-great experiences, and some people had really wonderful experiences,” Shepherd told ET, admitting that she too had “some fights on the show,” which she didn’t want to discuss. “From my end, it was the best experience of my life,” she said.

Shepherd admitted to ET she hadn’t read the book but she is aware of its content.

“I read some stuff and I was like, ‘Oh, shoot. Oh OK. That’s crazy. Hey Jenny, why’d you say that for?’ OK,” Shepherd said. “But, you know, everybody has their own interpretation of how it happened when they were there.”

McCarthy, a host from 2013 to 2014, revealed in the book that her time on the show was “the most miserable” job she’s had in all of her time in the industry.

“When I’d hear the shuffle of her feet, I knew that Barbara was after me,” McCarthy said in the book “It would get faster. Oh my God – she’s coming! Based on the speed of the shuffle, I would hide or get on the phone.”

However, the former MTV hostess said she has “zero hard feelings” toward Walters, explaining: “I loved her like a grandma. She didn’t know any better.”

Hilaria Baldwin Says She ‘Will Be OK’ After ‘Likely’ Miscarriage Revelation

View this post on Instagram

Thank you for your support and thank you for your stories. I want to assure you that I know I will be ok. I have perspective to understand sadness and loss in the grand scheme of things. Emotionally I am processing it all…being able to be open with you has been extremely healing. I was very nervous to share, and am so relieved that it was received with such love. I am grateful that you listened and I’m grateful that I have these tiny partners to go through this with. I don’t know what I would do without my community. Thank you for making my world a brighter place and for your sharing. I know that you didn’t have to and am humbled and honored by your openness. I don’t know about you, but I find it extremely comforting to know that I am not alone on this difficult journey ❤ #neveralone

A post shared by Hilaria Thomas Baldwin (@hilariabaldwin) on

Soldiering on. Hilaria Baldwin assured fans that she would be alright after revealing that she is “most likely experiencing a miscarriage.”

After thanking her supporters via Instagram on Friday, April 5, the yoga instructor, 35, shared her state of mind: “I want to assure you that I know I will be OK. I have perspective to understand sadness and loss in the grand scheme of things. Emotionally I am processing it all…being able to be open with you has been extremely healing. I was very nervous to share, and am so relieved that it was received with such love.”

Expressing gratitude for her community, daughter Carmen, 5, and sons Rafael, 3, Leonardo, 2, and Romeo, 10 months, whom she referred to as her “tiny partners,” the fitness guru said that she had found solace in the stories of others. “Thank you for making my world a brighter place and for your sharing,” she wrote. “I know that you didn’t have to and am humbled and honored by your openness. I don’t know about you, but I find it extremely comforting to know that I am not alone on this difficult journey.”

Baldwin also addressed critics of her revelation in an Instagram Story on Friday, explaining that she is building a community space and didn’t want anyone going through the same thing to read the comments and feel badly.

“I don’t care if you are one day pregnant or 9 months pregnant, you start to develop a connection as soon as you’re pregnant,” she said. “I have had a million children, and you just know that feeling. … If it means something to you, it matters.”

She continued: “Everybody just needs to calm down, stop being so judgey. Calm down, be nice. … You can never go wrong with being kind. You can never go wrong with being sweet and supportive.”

The actress finished her Stories off with a lengthy quote from Mother Teresa about forgiveness that read, “People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.”

The Blind star also addressed those that were less-than-kind one day prior, posting a now-deleted screenshot of an exchange with a social media troll.

“Nothing is private anymore. … Good god you’re annoying,” the post read, to which Baldwin replied, “Why are you on my page? I would suggest that you go through and read even just a handful of comments from people who have experienced the same thing. And maybe your heart and compassion will grow.”

She captioned the shot: “Because this even exists too … and it’s not OK.”

On Thursday, April 4, Baldwin shared the sad news that she would likely not be giving birth to her fifth child with husband Alex Baldwin. (The Beetejuice actor, 61, also shares daughter Ireland, 23, with ex-wife Kim Basinger.)

“The embryo has a heartbeat, but it isn’t strong, and the baby isn’t growing very much,” she explained on an Instagram snap of herself cradling her belly in her underthings. “So we wait — and this is hard. So much uncertainty… but the chances are very, very small that this is a viable pregnancy. I have complete confidence that my family and I will get through this, even if the journey is difficult.”

The couple, who wed in June 2012, had not announced their pregnancy ahead of their miscarriage news.

Mo’Nique Says ‘Karma’ Is At The Root Of Wendy’s Relationship Drama

Wendy Williams‘ life at this point is kind of an open book when you consider all the drama she’s wrapped up in.

In particular, the fact that her husband, Kevin Hunter, has been carrying on an alleged affair for almost half their 22-year-long marriage. And recently came news that his alleged mistress, Sharina Hudson, gave birth to his baby.

Well, since err’body else is chiming in on Wendy’s business (just like she does everybody else’s), may we direct you to someone else who is no stranger to controversy. That would be the one and only Mo’Nique. On a her newest installment of her “Mo’Nique and Sidney’s Open Relationship” podcast, they addressed what Williams is dealing with via an episode titled “Is Karma Real?

Of course you know Mo is is hardcore and doesn’t hold back. The Oscar winning actress spoke about how Williams is always trash talking people on her show, and how that has come home to roost, so to speak.

“It’s all about how messy I can be,” Mo’Nique said. “It’s all about ‘Ohhh, how can I crack on this person. How hard can I make fun of somebody’s downfall,’ or [it] appears to be that way.”

Although some may disagree, Mo’Nique claims that watching Williams on her show has taught her exactly how not to act or treat other people in her life.

“The lesson for me is, let me make sure what I put out there is what I would want to come back,” she continued. “Let me make sure I’m not so high on my a** that I can say or do, rip down, rip apart, tear down, whomever I choose to because it’s part of the business…but now when the universe says, ‘Oh, you know it’s your turn.’ We don’t pay attention to that, we just pay attention to the mess.”

Mo’Nique even suggested that Williams would be having far fewer problems if she just “minded her own business” instead of digging up the dirt on everyone else live on television each week.

On the other hand, some could argue that Mo’Nique’s criticizing of Wendy is essentially opening her up to being labeled a hypocrite, herself.

And your thoughts are?

A Boxer Forcefully Kissed a Sports Reporter Live on Air. Now She Says He Also Groped Her

A female reporter who was kissed forcefully by a boxer after they finished an interview has said the athlete also grabbed her buttocks without her consent.

Vegas Sports Daily reporter Jennifer Ravalo interviewed boxer Kubrat Pulev on March 23 following a fight in Costa Mesa, Calif. At the end of the interview, Pulev leaned in and kissed Ravalo on the lips. Video footage of the kiss, which features Ravalo saying “thank you” to Pulev amid an uncomfortable laugh went viral. “Jesus Christ,” she says toward the end of the video.

On Monday, Pulev tweeted a statement in which he claimed that Ravalo is a friend of his and that “after the interview, I was so elated, I gave her a kiss.” He said he saw Ravalo later at a post-fight celebration. Pulev did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ravalo strongly denied Pulev’s claims in a press conference held Thursday with the high-profile attorney Gloria Allred. She said she met Pulev for the first time on March 22, when she asked him to do a pre-fight interview. They met again the next day for a post-fight interview, during which he grabbed her face, kissed her and later allegedly groped her backside.

“I was immediately shocked and embarrassed, and didn’t know how to respond,” she said. “Next, I walked to the table to put my items in my backpack. He grabbed both of my buttocks and squeezed with both of his hands. Then he walked away without saying anything to me and laughed.”

Ravalo said she attended an after-party later on the invitation of a friend. Pulev arrived at the party toward the end of the night, she said, where he asked her to take the kiss out of the interview.

“I did not remove it and instead posted it because I wanted people to see what he had done to me. I wanted him to be accountable,” she said during the press conference. “I didn’t want him to get away with it. What he did to me was disgusting. I felt humiliated. No woman should be treated this way. Mr. Pulev and I were not friends and we were not in a romantic relationship. He had no right to kiss me.”

Allred, who Ravalo hired to help her “impose consequences” on Pulev, has requested the California State Athletic Commission revoke the boxer’s license and investigate the incident. The commission will meet next in May, and Allred asked that it review Ravalo’s case and allow her to testify.

In a statement, the California State Athletic Commission said it takes the incident seriously.

“On Tuesday, Kubrat Pulev was notified that, before he will be licensed to fight in California again, he must appear in front of the commission and demonstrate that he conforms to this principle of respect,” the statement read.

Chicago’s Top Prosecutor Says Jussie Smollett Charges Dropped After ‘Slim’ Chance of Prison

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx defended the surprise decision of prosecutors to drop all charges against Empire star Jussie Smollett, saying that the disorderly conduct case didn’t warrant more aggressive prosecution.

“We deal with a lot of things in this city in this county, not the least of which is a homicide rate that outpaces other major cities, shootings that outpace other major cities, sexual assault, sexual violence, domestic violence,” Foxx told Chicago’s public radio station, WEBZ.And it is not to diminish that what Mr. Smollett was alleged to have done did have an impact on people who are actual victims of hate crime, did have an impact on how people perceived our city.”

But, she added, Smollett was charged with Class 4 felonies, the lowest class of felony crime in Illinois. Smollett also did not have a criminal record.

“For people who do this work every day, who recognize what the charges are—this is a Class 4 felony— for people who are in the weeds of this, we recognize that the likelihood that someone would get a prison sentence for a Class 4 felony is slim,” she added.

Prosecutors have faced widespread criticism since they announced their decision to drop all 16 felony charges against Smollett for allegedly staging a hate crime in Chicago this January. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel and Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson have been vocal about their belief that Smollett deserved to face tougher consequences. After learning of the prosecutors’ actions on Tuesday, Emmanel described the decision as a “whitewash of justice.”

In a series of interviews with Chicago media on Wednesday, Foxx argued that Smollett’s case was handled in the same way similar lower-profile cases would have been handled. She seemed to echo earlier statements by her office affirming that Smollett had not been exonerated, noting that Smollett forfeited his $ 10,000 bail and completed community service.

“I think when people see this one particular case, it feels like an outlier, where in fact it’s consistent with how we treat people charged with similar offenses with the same background,” Foxx said in an interview with NBC 5 Chicago.

Foxx explained her decision to recuse herself from the case, explaining that she had been in contact Smollett’s family, and didn’t want her impartiality to be called into question. Other Cook County prosecutors at Foxx’s office handled the prosecution and made the decision to drop the charges.

“It was not unusual for me to talk to a victim in a case,” she said. “At the time that I engaged with this family member, Mr. Smollett was a victim.”

Foxx also seemed to dismiss the anger from Chicago police, who said they were not involved of the decision to drop the charges.

“[The police] worked very diligently on this case and that this was not a question about their abilities,” said Foxx. “But every single day on cases that law enforcement partners work diligently on, there are people who get similar arrangements, people who get diversion, people who get sentences that are probably not what some people would want.”

This Democratic Socialist Says We Should Embrace Nationalism

Photo Illustration by The Daily Beast/Getty

John Judis, longtime Democratic socialist and veteran left-wing journalist, wants you to be a nationalist.

If you’re a progressive, chances are you’re as puzzled, maybe as disgusted, as I was when I first read about his most recent book, The Nationalist Revival. Nationalism is the purview of demagogues and bigots, isn’t it? Even Donald Trump admitted that “we’re not supposed to use that word,” before embracing it enthusiastically last October.

But for Judis, nationalism—the concept of a common, shared identity with people in your nation-state—is an indispensable element of a cohesive country. It’s necessary, he says, for people to want to pay taxes and support the common good. And if the left doesn’t embrace it, the right will exploit it.

Dubai Says No R. Kelly Concert Was Planned

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Dubai’s government on Sunday forcefully denied a claim by R&B singer R. Kelly that the artist had planned concerts in the sheikhdom after he had sought permission from an Illinois judge to travel here despite facing sexual-abuse charges.

In a rare statement, the government’s Dubai Media Office also denied claims by his lawyer in court that Kelly had plans to meet the sheikhdom’s ruling Al Maktoum family.

“Authorities in Dubai have not received any request for a performance by singer R. Kelly nor are there any venues that have been booked,” the statement said.

It added Kelly “has not been invited by the Dubai royal family for a performance.”

In an email to The Associated Press, Kelly’s lawyer Steven A. Greenberg responded saying: “Mr. Kelly had a signed contract with a legitimate promoter, and any information that was included in the motion to travel was from that contract. We did not say he was invited by The royal family, but the contract did provide that he would make himself available to meet with them.”

Kelly was charged on Feb. 22 with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse for allegedly assaulting three girls and one adult woman, coming after the release of a documentary “Surviving R. Kelly.” He has denied ever abusing anyone.

In a court filing last week, Greenberg had said the singer needed to raise money as “he has struggled of late to pay his child support and other child related expenses.”

“Before he was arrested Mr. Kelly had signed a contract to perform between 3-5 shows in Dubai, UAE, in April 2019,” the court filing read. “He requests permission to travel to Dubai for the shows. While there he is supposed to meet with the royal family.”

The filing did not elaborate on where Kelly was allegedly supposed to perform. There was no immediately publicized event for which Kelly was known to be a performer, nor did anyone in the entertainment industry hear about one.

However, Dubai’s luxury nightclubs often host hip hop and other artists for days at a time to perform and be seen among the millionaires of this skyscraper-studded city that is home to the world’s tallest building. Rich families also pay for celebrities at their parties.

The UAE’s seven emirates are overseen by hereditary rulers who hold absolute power. Dubai’s ruler is Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, 69. His 36-year-old son, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, serves as Dubai’s crown prince and is next in line to be ruler.

Dubai, home to the world’s largest manmade archipelago the Palm Jumeriah and an indoor ski slope in its desert climes, has long drawn celebrities craving both luxury and seclusion. Will Smith is a repeated visitor. Lindsay Lohan lives off and on in the sheikhdom. David Beckham, Shah Rukh Khan and others are believed to own property in Dubai.

Yet it also has drawn world leaders seeking to escape their own countries. Pakistani Gen. Pervez Musharraf, facing criminal charges back home, fled to Dubai in 2016. Former Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra came to Dubai to avoid a criminal conviction in 2017, following in the footsteps of her brother, the ousted former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

The U.S. does not have an extradition treaty with the UAE. However, the U.S. stations some 5,000 troops in the country and Dubai’s Jebel Ali port is the biggest port of call for the U.S. Navy outside of America.

Pastor John Gray’s Alleged Mistress Says They Had More Than An ‘Emotional’ Affair

Source: Robin L Marshall / Getty

Pastor John Gray and his wife Aventer made headlines when it was revealed their seemingly happy marriage was tainted with infidelity. While Pastor Gray assured fans it was only an “emotional” affair, recently discovered audio recordings paint a different picture.

A woman, who remains anonymous, says she and Gray had a physical relationship during an interview with Larry Reid, She says Gray once booked her a room in the same hotel as his wife, but Aventer found out. He left the woman a voicemail warning her that venter had read their text messages. The mystery woman says that she and Gray had Facetime sex, where he would speak in tongues after climaxing. And yes, they two had sex.

She told Reid that she and Gray had been friends for years, but things changed after the woman went through a domestic violence incident that left her vulnerable.

“It started with him—he likes to say—breathing life into me. So he was just there as far as talking to me, pretty much pastoring me, ministering to me. And I called on him to do a favor to a person that I knew that was struggling with some addiction issues. And so I called upon him to help with that. It was an employee of mine. That employee actually wound up speaking with him and it got him on the straight and narrow. So I sent him a text message telling him thank you. And he said, ‘Whatever you need.’ And I was like ‘Well thank you.’ And he said, ‘I’m talking about you.’

John Gray allegedly also offered her financial help when she fell on hard times.

“He would say, ‘The Lord told me that you need some money so go ahead and check your cash app. I already put money in your account.”

He also allegedly confided in her about his marriage and claimed Aventer didn’t satisfy him.

“I ran into an issue financially and he was just like absolutely. and it was a big deal. It was a really big thing. From that moment on, it started from there. It snowballed into ‘I just love you so much. I always loved you. I always thought about you. I always cared about you,’ the woman shared.

“Then he was going through the stuff with his wife and he was saying how he didn’t like her, didn’t love her, that he was never attracted to her, that he only married her because she looked good on paper.”

The woman also had voicemails of what seemed to be John Gray’s voice.

“When you get this message, delete it. My wife saw our text messages from Friday. She knows you were in the same hotel as me and she does not know that I went to your room. She doesn’t remember me leaving. She’s got your number,” he said.

Gray told the public he was only guilty of being “inappropriate” because he carried on an “emotional” affair. Clearly there’s more to the story.

Duane Martin Says Tisha Campbell-Martin Made Up Abuse Allegations

Vivica A. Fox 50th Birthday Celebration

Source: Paul Archuleta / Getty

Details in Duane Martin and Tisha Campbell-Martin‘s divorce and bankruptcy cases continue to be revealed, and Martin is now taking a defensive stance. After being accused of physically abusing his estranged wife, Martin says that Campbell-Martin is making it all up.

The Blast reports:

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Duane filed a declaration as part of his bankruptcy case, in which he is denying allegations he hid a $ 2 million home in Chatsworth, California from creditors as part of his bankruptcy.

In his declaration, Duane accuses Tisha and her brother having “manufactured a false claim of alleged domestic violence against the Co-Debtor which they filed with the police. Even Co-Debtor’s family law attorney would not sign his name on such a claim. The police saw the claim for what it was and did not pursue it.”

He adds, “Additional falsehoods were presented to the Family Law court in order for the Co-Debtor to obtain custody of their children. When it was clear that these falsehoods were not going to work, they were dropped and custody was awarded 50-50 to both parents.”

The outlet adds that Campbell-Martin has been cooperative with the bank trustee and handing in her financial records. Martin has said that any reports that he hasn’t done the same in reporting his earning aren’t true.

Martin also accuses Campbell-Martin and her brother of taking his residuals and removing his name from his bank accounts, thus making it so that he can’t cash checks or access funds.

Earlier this year, Campbell-Martin filed for a domestic violence restraining order against Martin.
