‘Jersey Shore’ News: Pauly D Says Vinny & Angelina Slept Together Again, Shocking Fans

Vinny Guadagnino and Angelina Pivarnick have their fans wondering whether they hooked up again on this season’s Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. These two have been together before, and they had more than just a bit of tension between them when they filmed in Las Vegas.

Neither of them has confirmed anything, but roommate Pauly D says something that will definitely leave you in shock as well.

‘I believe it, I don’t know, I believe it,’ Pauly said in an interview with OK! magazine when he was asked if he thought Vinny and Angelina had slept together.

‘He’s allowed to hook up with women, just no other guys,’ Pauly joked about his ‘bromance’ with Vinny.

On the other hand, Pauly managed to make quite an important point about Vinny and Angelina’s current relationship statuses. He confirmed that Vinny is single, but said that Angelina is not.

‘She’s engaged, though, so if they did [hook up], that’s a problem for her.’

Anyway, Angelina denies that she hooked up with Vinny and this means that we will have to wait some more to see if anything else gets revealed on future episodes.

‘You guys fight all the time. You have like, one more hate bang to get out,’ roommate, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro said on last week’s episode.

Angelina responded ‘No, I’m not f***ing DTF anymore, Vin. Been there, done that with you. I honestly don’t remember your d*ck. I’m not mean. I’m not saying it’s small. I’m saying I don’t remember!’

‘Sharp Objects’ Finale: Patricia Clarkson on That Shocking Twist and Adora’s Fate

HBO

“It’s been an unexpected and wild ride,” says Patricia Clarkson. “I find myself not really able to go anywhere right now.”

The Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated actress is of course discussing her chilling turn as Adora, the suffocating matriarch of Sharp Objects. Throughout eight episodes, Clarkson has crafted one of the year’s most complex villains: a small-town socialite whose cocktail parties, big hats and floral dresses belie a certain blood-chilling menace.

Based on a novel by Gillian Flynn, created by Marti Noxon and directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, the HBO miniseries was billed as this summer’s Big Little Lies, perhaps owing to Vallée’s involvement and its star-studded, women-led cast. But it’s far darker than that: a Southern gothic nightmare exploring self-harm and the cycle of abuse.

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Director on the ‘Shocking’ Backlash to Marvel’s First Female Superhero Lead

Photo Illustration by Sarah Rogers/The Daily Beast

When Peyton Reed inherited the mantle of Ant-Man director from Edgar Wright, who left midway through the Marvel caper he’d scripted about a hero who shrinks to fantastical bug-sized proportions, the idea of the Quantum Realm had not yet touched paper. It was Reed and co-writer Adam McKay who thought to create for the screen a version of the alternate dimension where human concepts of space and time become irrelevant, opening a Pandora’s Box of reality-bending possibilities.

Now, three years and one cataclysmic shift in the Marvel Cinematic Universe later, their idea may hold the key to reversing the cruelest events of Avengers: Infinity War—or so heartbroken fans might hope.

Ant-Man and the Wasp, Reed’s sunny sequel to his 2015 superhero-origin-heist-story starring Paul Rudd, comes on the heels of the darkest entry in the Marvel canon yet. Thanos, that purple menace now armed with all-powerful abilities, has decimated the Avengers and pulverized half the universe, including marquee heroes like Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the Guardians of the Galaxy (minus poor Rocket).

The Shocking Backstreet Boys Rape Case That the Media Keeps Ignoring

Nicholas Hunt/Getty

Over two decades later, the Backstreet Boys keep coming back.

For nostalgia-seekers, the perennially-second-best boy band’s upcoming tour might hold some appeal. With the relaxed pace of men celebrating their twenties’ 25th birthday, the band has been creeping into the zeitgeist with new music and televised performances. In May, they released the single “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” their first in five years, teasing an upcoming album. They went on to perform the track at the CMT Music Awards, where they announced plans for an upcoming world tour. They also appeared on The Tonight Show, performing a rendition of “I Want It That Way” for Jimmy Fallon’s “Classroom Instruments” series.

With nine studio albums, a Las Vegas residency and countless tours under their belt, the Backstreet Boys have worked pretty consistently since their late-‘90s superstardom. But their latest efforts follow sexual-assault accusations made against Nick Carter, the breakout star of the band, which are currently the subject of an ongoing police investigation. And Carter’s alleged victim, Melissa Schuman, refuses to stop calling out her abuser and the complicity of those facilitating his comeback.

‘Krypton’: The Phantom Zone Requires a Shocking Sacrifice in Season Finale

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the Krypton episode “The Phantom Zone.” Proceed with caution.

Krypton‘s first season wrapped this week in an episode that showed the full force of Brainiac as he invaded Kandor City. The episode also united the Zod and El families, something not often seen on screen or in the comics. The episode was also a very emotional one, as Val-El was freed from the Phantom Zone, Nyssa learned a shocking truth about herself, and a terrible price was paid. Let’s jump into the episode’s most notable moments.

Val-El is Restored

Krypton Season Finale

After spending years trapped inside the Phantom Zone, Seg‘s grandfather, Val-El, was rescued and returned by Dru-Zod. Seg and Val shared an emotional reunion, especially since the last time Seg saw Val, Val was being executed. Zod was willing to find Val because he believed that Val held vital information to Brainiac’s defeat. Val returned with a dark prophecy, however, that no matter how many futures he saw ahead, Brainiac was never defeated.

Neither Seg nor Lyta could accept that truth: Seg wanted to save lives and Lyta wanted to fight Brainiac. It’s no wonder Clark Kent will have such a passion in him, in the future, to both save lives and stop anyone who would take them. Together, Lyta and Nyssa found a way to sneak into Kandor, while Seg, Val, and Zod decided whether it was the right choice to use Doomsday.

The Clone Conspiracy

Krypton Season Finale Nyssa

Back in Kandor, Lyta assembled what was left of the Military guard and sent them to attack Brainiac. Nyssa went her own way, to get her and Seg’s unborn child from the Genesis Chamber. Once inside the chamber, she was approached by the creator of Black Zero, Jax-Ur. Jax accused Nyssa of helping her father build the city of injustice that Kandor had become.

Jax then showed Nyssa a shocking secret that was lurking within the Genesis Chamber. It didn’t just hold babies, it held clones. Jax then told Nyssa that she was a clone, her own clone, after the first version of herself died in a crash with her mother. The clones were created to help wealthy Kryptonians live forever. You can read more about the cloning practices on Krypton in the pages of the DC Comic book, World of Krypton Vol. 2.

Defeating Brainiac

Krypton Season Finale Brainiac

After Brainiac assimilated himself into the Voice of Rao, he then disabled the shields that were protecting Kandor City. His massive ship descended upon the city, bringing with it the sheer force of the weather storm outside. Brainiac told Kandor’s citizens that his rule was their eternal life and that they should rejoice to become part of him.

Zod then proposed one way to save Kandor City: to offer Val and his well-spring of future knowledge to Brainiac. Seg refused, which prompted Zod to ask Seg the same question that has been asked in a lot of superhero films of late: would you sacrifice one life to save millions? Vision asked this question of himself in Avengers: Infinity War and Coulson asked it of himself in Agents of SHIELD.

The episode concluded with a final showdown in the Fortress of Solitude. As Brainiac came to absorb the mind of Val-El, Seg tricked him into the Phantom Zone vortex. While Brainiac was pulled in, so was Seg. In a stunning scene, the further Seg was pulled into the Zone, Superman’s cape began to reform. Seg was then completely sucked in and left his grandfather and his son with his final words: start believing in a better tomorrow again.

The terror wasn’t over, however, as Superman’s cape then transformed from a red cape bearing the House of El sigil, to a black cape bearing the House of Zod sigil. OH MY GOD. Dru-Zod then stepped into his place as General, commanding all other Kryptonian leaders to “KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!”

If that doesn’t set up a brilliant new challenge for Season 2, then I don’t know what does.

Krypton will return to SYFY in 2019.

Most Shocking Moments From the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Finale

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the Grey’s Anatomy episode “All of Me.” Proceed with caution.

Grey’s Anatomy season finales are always emotional roller coasters. Whether the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial are dealing with plane crashes, active shooters, or the death of a beloved patient (RIP Denny) there is always some big twist that leaves fans clamoring for the next season. This year’s finale was no different, but it also had added importance because it marked the final episode of Dr. April Kepner and Dr. Arizona Robbins.

The finale also (finally) featured the wedding of Alex and Jo. But this is Grey’s Anatomy and a wedding can never go off without a hitch. The couple almost missing their own wedding wasn’t even the craziest part of the episode. Here we take a look at the most shocking moments from “All of Me”.

April’s New Mission

Grey's Anatomy April

After surviving her near death experience in last week’s episode, fans were wondering just how April would leave the show. It comes as shock that April has merely chosen to leave her job as a trauma surgeon. Instead of saving lives in a hospital, she is now providing medical care for the homeless. It’s the perfect sendoff for her character. April has been defined by her faith and desire to do good in the world. While it would have been incredibly emotional to see her die, it’s a wonderful surprise that Grey’s has allowed April to survive and go out with such an amazing legacy. It was also great getting to see her jump into action and save a life in the field (with a pinwheel!) one last time.

Miranda Decides to De-Stress

Grey's Anatomy Bailey

After her heart attack this season, Bailey has had a new outlook on life. Despite Webber‘s praise of her as a leader, she decides it’s time to take a break from her duties as Chief and focus on her research and surgeries. She is finally taking some much needed time for herself and putting her own health first. However, her decision to hire Teddy to take over for her in the interim is sure to ruffle some feathers.

Double Wedding

Grey's Anatomy Wedding

April planned the perfect wedding for Jo and Alex, but thanks to an emergency surgery, the couple getting trapped in a barn, and a mix up in directions to the location, plans had to be changed. However, all her work was not in vain. Despite being left at the alter by April once before, Matthew decides he wants to try again. The couple got married right then and there, which gave April her happy ending and a new shot at love.

At the same time Jo and Alex have their own perfect wedding. The couple was married in a ceremony performed by Meredith on the all important ferry. It was an emotional moment, further cementing Meredith’s bond with Alex that has extended to now include Jo. Cue the tears.

A Happy Ending For #Calzona?

Grey's Anatomy Arizona

April might not be the the only one getting her happy ending. Arizona may have to leave her friends and the career she loves to move to New York, but she may have someone waiting for her once she arrives. Callie is single now and the two have been trading texts that make Arizona smile. Callie seems to share this feeling, sending a message saying she can’t wait to see Arizona. Despite all the hardships and heartbreak the couple has been through, this hint that there could be happiness again is a nice way to celebrate the groundbreaking couple and leave fans with hope for their future.

Teddy is Pregnant?!?

Grey's Anatomy Teddy

Of course just when Amelia and Owen were settling into their life as a little family and Amelia was getting ready to confess her feelings for him, Teddy returns. And it looks like she may have some BIG news to share. It appears as though Teddy is pregnant. Why else would she come back to Seattle if not to tell Owen about their baby? Owen has always wanted to be a father and is the king of doing the right thing so this is sure to change things drastically. Poor Amelia.

There is already plenty of drama to look forward to when Grey’s Anatomy returns for its 15th (!) season this Fall.

Married American Skaters Open Up About How Faith Helped Them Through a Shocking Health Scare

Just skating at the Winter Olympics this year, medal or no, is already a victory for pair figure skater Alexa Scimeca Knierim, she tells PEOPLE, less than two years after facing down a rare and potentially deadly gastrointestinal condition.

“This competition’s very meaningful for us,” says Alexa, who skates with Chris Knierim. “We’ve kind of been lacking the joy and lightheartedness of life for about two years now, from all the struggles we’ve been through, so being here together, Chris and I are kind of just enjoying it.”

The couple competed Sunday afternoon at the team figure skating event, in Gangneung, South Korea, where they placed fourth in their free skate. It was somewhat of a let-down following a short program on Thursday that earned them a season’s best score and helped keep alive Team USA’s chances of a medal in the event.

Even so, the Knierims made it to the Games — its own reward.

“Today wasn’t a brilliant skate by any means, but we’re just so happy to be here,” says Alexa, 26, adding, “We’ve already won by being able to step on the ice.”

Asked if such a competition feels like a celebration, having made it through the lows of her health struggles, the couple is quick to reply yes. “One-hundred percent,” Chris, 30, tells PEOPLE.

Speaking to reporters not long after their free skate, he and Alexa also discussed the key role their Christian faith has played in their lives, from Alexa’s worsening condition, her diagnosis on through her recovery.

“It’s the reason I was able to get back on the ice,” Alexa said, “because I stopped worrying and stopped trying to control life, because I couldn’t. In the moment, you know, I was so sick and didn’t really know where things were going to go for me, whether it was skating or life in general. So I finally just threw my hands up and said like, ‘You lead the way,’ and it’s my testimony and I stay true to it.”

“And even here at the Games, it’s no longer about me,” she continued. “I have fans out there who know that I am a true believer in the Lord and I’m trying my best to shine his light and let people know that it’s okay to promote him and do things for him, because in the Christian life that’s kind of what we’re supposed to.”

Keep Following PEOPLE’s Complete Coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics

For her, the Olympics is an opportunity to “glorify God, and my followers know that that’s my purpose and it makes me happy,” Alexa said. “I’m here living my dream, and if that’s the way that I have to go about it, I’ll keep doing it.”

Standing beside her, Chris agreed: “We both share the same thing,” he said of the place of religion in their lives. “I think it’s played out in her a little stronger than me because of the situation she was put in.”

Alexa and Chris have a group prayer before each of their competitions, just after warming up off the ice, she said. They also meet regularly with other Christian athletes in Colorado.

“So it’s taken a big kind of role in my life and Chris’ and I truly believe that’s why we were able to get here,” she said.

The Knierims previously detailed Alexa’s health journey to PEOPLE in an interview last fall, explaining then how she became ill in the spring and summer of 2016, eventually being diagnosed two months after their June wedding that year.

“In April of 2016 I started feeling very sick at a competition, it was the last one of the year, and issues continued to develop all the way through August of 2016 when I was finally diagnosed and had immediate surgery in my abdomen,” Alexa told PEOPLE. “I ended up having three surgeries and we had to withdraw from all of our events for the first half of the year. My life, our life, changed drastically in that time period — life was on hold and we weren’t really sure what life would be for the two of us.”

“I’m 5-foot-2 and I was about just over 80 lbs. before and after surgery,” Alexa said. “I lost all of my muscle, and my body mechanics when I started getting back into working out were like next to none … the very first time I stepped back on the ice after my surgeries, Chris had to hold me up because my body was not capable of standing on its own.”

And yet here they both are now, together, at their first Olympic Games.

“Coming here, you know, this is the cherry on top,” Chris said last week after competing in the pairs’ short program. “We’ve had a tough couple of years, and this is just something really special.”

Golden Globes 2018: 5 Shocking Moments From the Awards Ceremony

The 2018 Golden Globes were held on Sunday, celebrating the best in film and television. The annual fete was hosted by late night host Seth Meyers.

Powerful acceptance speeches punctuated the evening, highlighted by a call to action by Cecil B. DeMille Award winner Oprah Winfrey. But the night elevating women took an ironic turn when Tonya Harding — a woman conspired in a physical attack on another woman — was celebrated.

Without further ado, here are five shocking moments from the 2018 Golden Globes.

Red Carpet Blackout

Both female and male attendees wore black on the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton in support of the #metoo movement, bringing awareness to sexual harassment affecting women in all industries, not just entertainment.

Others wore pins supporting Times Up, an initiative started by 300 prominent women in Hollywood calling for equality. Will & Grace star Debra Messing created buzz when she criticized pay inequality between genders — calling out E! for not paying host Catt Sadler the same as her male counterpart — while being interviewed by E!

Watch the exchange below:

“I was so shocked to hear that E! doesn’t believe in paying their female co-hosts the same as their male co-hosts,” the nominee told host Giuliana Rancic. “I miss Catt Sadler … we stand with her.”

Meyers’ Monologue

Seth Meyers had the difficult task of addressing Hollywood’s sexual harassment headlines and the polarizing political climate (he didn’t mention President Trump by name at all).

“Good evening ladies and remaining gentlemen,” the late-night host started. “It’s 2018. Marijuana is finally allowed and sexual harassment isn’t.”

His targets were disgraced figures Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, the president, and even himself. (“I’m not even the most powerful Seth in the room,” he quipped.)

Powerful Speeches

As winner after winner took the stage, there was a common theme in their acceptance speeches — ushering change. Here are a few select quotes:

“This character that I played represents something that is the center of our conversation right now: abuse. I do believe and I hope that we can elicit change through the stories we tell and the way we tell them.” — Nicole Kidman

“We no longer live in the blank white spaces at the edge of print. We no longer live in the gaps between the stories. We are the story in print, and we are writing the story ourselves.” — Elisabeth Moss (inspired by author Margaret Atwood)

“Many of us were taught not to tattle. May we teach our children that speaking out without fear of retribution is our culture’s new north star.” — Laura Dern

“For too long women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power of those men. But their time is up. Their time is up!” — Oprah Winfrey

“People out there who are feeling silenced … time is up. We see you. We hear you. And we will tell your stories.” — Reese Witherspoon

“Trust me, the women in the room tonight are not here for the food. We are here for the work.” – Frances McDormand

There’s Tonya

In one of the most surreal moments of the evening, Tonya Harding finally had a moment in the spotlight. The figure skater — who has a lifetime ban from the sport for the 1994 attack on her competitor, Nancy Kerrigan, was called out during Allison Janney’s acceptance speech for I, Tonya. Ironically, the U.S. Figure Skating Championships — the very event where the attack took place — were held this week. The championships serve as a qualifying event for the Olympics, also on NBC.

Reaction online was mixed, but mostly negative.

Harding plead guilty to hindering the prosecution of Kerrigan’s attackers (the plot was orchestrated by her ex-husband).

Director Hit

While presenting Best Director, Natalie Portman said “here are the all-male nominees,” commenting on the fact that no woman had been nominated in the category.

Among the female directors overlooked, Patty Jenkins for Wonder Woman, Dee Rees for Mudbound and Greta Gerwig for Lady Bird. Guillermo del Toro took home the award for The Shape of Water.

Your Water Footprint: The Shocking Facts About How Much Water We Use to Make Everyday Products

Your Water Footprint: The Shocking Facts About How Much Water We Use to Make Everyday Products

The average American lifestyle is kept afloat by about 2,000 gallons of H2O a day. The numbers are shocking. Your Water Footprint reveals the true cost of our lifestyle. A water footprint is the amount of fresh water used to produce the goods and services we consume, including growing, harvesting, packaging, and shipping. From the foods we eat to the clothes we wear to the books we read and the music we listen to, all of it costs more than what we pay at the check-out. The 125 footprint facts in this book show the true cost of our lifestyle and what it is doing to Earth, including draining it dry. The Virtual Water Concept shows the amount of water used in human activities. Presented in clever, understandable graphics, Your Water Footprint raises readers'' awareness of how much water is used to make the things we use, consume and grow.
What we put on our dinner table has a very high cost. Nearly 95 percent of our water footprint is hidden in the food we eat: One pound of lettuce costs 15 gallons of freshwater; mango 190 gallons; avocado 220 gallons; tofu 244 gallons; rice 403 gallons; olives 522 gallons; pork 1,630 gallons; butter 2,044 gallons; chocolate 2,847 gallons; and beef 2,500 to 5,000 gallons. A slice of bread costs 10 gallons but if you eat it with a slice of cheese, it takes another 13 gallons. One glass of beer takes 20 gallons of water, and just one standard cup of tea costs 120 same-sized cups of water. A cotton t-shirt takes almost as much water as beef, a pair of jeans even more. In fact, all aspects of our daily lives require water in some way, shape or form. The saying that nothing is free applies more to water than anything else we consume,
considering just three percent of the world''s water is drinkable and that we are using more of it than ever before. Factor in climate change, population growth and pollution and we have an unsustainable situation. Many experts predict dire water shortages if we continue on our current path. Your Water Footprint is riveting. Consumers of all ages will be stunned by what it reveals. It is an excellent reference and an exciting way to introduce the resource-consumption equation to students.

16 Shocking Allegations In Scientology Documentary ‘Going Clear’

The Church of Scientology has long been a controversial institution among both the religious community and entertainment business. But the latest documentary from Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney, “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief,” explores the secrets of the organization through interviews with former high-ranking officials and former members in a way never seen before.

Based on the 2013 book of the same name by Lawrence Wright, “Going Clear” not only exposes details about Scientology but also serves as an in-depth explainer for those unfamiliar with the group. The Church has spoken out against the film (read their full statement here) as have its celebrity members. But whether you’ve studied Scientology closely or merely know it as “the religion with Tom Cruise,” watching “Going Clear” is a powerful, stunning and emotionally overwhelming experience that will likely leave you with your mouth agape. Here are the most shocking allegations put forth in “Going Clear,” which made its HBO debut on Sunday night:

1. L. Ron Hubbard’s Scientology creation story
When Scientologists reach level OT III, they are shown the “secret materials,” as director and former member Paul Haggis described them: Hubbard’s hand-written account of the creation myth. According to this, 75 million years ago a galactic dictator named Xenu froze people and dropped their bodies into volcanoes. From there, the disembodied spirits, or thetans, apparently jumped into newborns bodies. According to Hubbard, these multiple thetans crowded in our bodies are the source of our anxieties and fears.

l ron hubbard

2. Hubbard spent time in a black magic cult
Before founding Scientology, Hubbard befriended rocket and chemical engineer Jack Parsons who was a part of black magic cult Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO), which followed the teachings of Aleister Crowley. According to “Going Clear,” Hubbard became Parsons scribe and assistant on a magical operation to impregnate a goddess-like woman to create the anti-Christ.

3. Members were allegedly thrown overboard as punishment
Hubbard created Ethics, or punishments for his auditors who made mistakes during sessions. They were then pushed overboard on his ships into the water, which was “30 feet, 35 feet” below, according to Hana Whitfield, one of the original Sea Org members.

4. Hubbard told his second wife he murdered their daughter
When Sara Northup, Hubbard’s second wife, threatened to leave him unless he got psychiatric help, he reportedly kidnapped their daughter Alexis. According to written accounts from Northup, Hubbard told her he “cut [Alexis] into little pieces” and dropped her in a river. Then he would call back and tell Sara that their daughter was alive.

5. There was a Scientology “prison camp”
Former Church member Sylvia “Spanky” Taylor, who was once the liaison between the Church and John Travolta, was sent to the Rehabilitation Project Force (RPF), or what she described as the “prison camp where you’d go for re-indoctrination.” According to the film, when sent to the RPF, people would have to do hard labor for “30 hours on, 3 hours off,” eat table scraps and sleep on dirty, wet mattresses.

scientology

6. The FBI raid on the Church was the biggest in history at the time
On July 8, 1977, the FBI raided Scientology’s Los Angeles, Hollywood and Washington, D.C. locations, which at the time was the bureau’s biggest raid ever.

7. The Church stole government documents
According to the film, in the ’70s, many Scientologists were directed to get jobs in Department of Justice and IRS offices in order to steal documents against or relating to the Church.

8. The Church apparently has a blackmail folder on John Travolta
According to Wright in the film, when there were rumors of Travolta wanting to leave Scientology, the Church created a “black PR package” that has “all the damaging material” from his private auditing sessions. Travolta also reportedly refused to have his sessions video taped, but secret cameras were hidden anyway.

9. The Church investigated the IRS
One of the Church’s goals was to be recognized by the IRS as a fully tax-exempt religion, according to former senior executive of the Church Mark “Marty” Rathbun. Thousands of Scientologists reportedly filed 2,400 total lawsuits against IRS employees, and private investigators were sent to IRS conventions to obtain information. According to journalist Tony Ortega, Scientology leader David Miscavige told the IRS commissioner that the lawsuits would go away if the Church was given tax-exempt status. The Church was granted exemption in October 1993.

10. Tom Cruise and the Church allegedly wire-tapped Nicole Kidman’s phone
According to the film, the Church noticed Tom Cruise slipping away from Scientology during his marriage to Nicole Kidman. Cruise reportedly said he wanted to have Kidman’s phone wiretapped, which the Church did at his request.

11. Cruise may have had employees pimp his cars for 40 cents an hour
Sea Org members make 40 cents an hour, according to Ortega, who says, “I don’t think there’s any way Tom Cruise is not aware of that.” According to the film, they have “tricked out his cars and motorcycles” and hanger in Santa Monica, California, and installed the audiovisual equipment at his home.

12. The Church supposedly found Cruise a new girlfriend
According to Wright, Cruise was “overheard to complain that he needed a new girlfriend” when he was in Spain at the opening of a new Scientology center. The Church then found a young Scientologist, Nazanin Boniadi, and reportedly had her braces removed, bought her $ 20,000 of clothes and colored her hair “to Cruise’s liking.” She was then told she would be Cruise’ girlfriend, but the relationship soon ended. Boniadi apparently signed a non-disclosure agreement with the Church and has since become a well-known actress in “Homeland,” “Iron Man,” among other films and shows.

13. Paul Haggis left because of the the Church’s homophobic stance
Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis (“Crash,” “Casino Royale”) left Scientology in 2009 after 30 years when his two gay daughters told him how they were being treated and harassed by the Church. According to Church doctrines, the religion views homosexuality as a disease. Haggis then wrote a now-famous letter of his resignation from the Church.

14. Scientology’s book value is about $ 1.5 billion
Ortega obtained recent tax records that revealed the main three tiers of the Church (which is a non-profit organization) have a combined book value of $ 1.5 billion.

15. Sea Org members were allegedly tortured to the sounds of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”
In 2004, Miscaviage apparently ordered the top members of the Sea Org to live in what was known as The Hole in the Chuch’s secret Gold Base in California. In the film, former members say they were told to confess their crimes against the Church in order to leave The Hole. Beyond beatings and one man being ordered to “mop up the bathroom floor with his tongue,” another method of abuse was when members were forced to play musical chairs to “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Those participating were “fighting to stay” in the Church: whoever didn’t have a seat when the music stopped was expelled from the Church.

16. If members leave the Church their friends & family are forced to “disconnect”
The biggest reason to not leave the Church for many Scientologists is fear of “disconnection.” This is when all friends and family members still with the Church are told to cut ties with those who leave, or those deemed Potential Trouble Sources (PTS), or Suppressive Persons (SPs). Many former members included in the film haven’t seen or spoken to their family or friends since they left.

“Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief” airs again on Monday, March 30 at 9:00 p.m. ET on HBO.
