STREET SIGNS: How WeSC Transitioned From Mall Brand to Contemporary Streetwear Line
When Joseph Janus joined WeSC seven years ago as chief executive officer of the American business, the Swedish streetwear brand, which is named We Are Superlative Conspiracy, was being produced and distributed by its U.S. licensee Oved Apparel Group. Like most streetwear and skate lines at the time, the brand was focused on mass distribution in retailers such as Tillys, Zumiez and PacSun.
But Janus, who has previously worked for brands including Calvin Klein, Guess and JNCO, sensed a shift coming in the market and knew he would have to slowly make WeSC more premium.
“I wanted to bridge the gap between traditional streetwear and luxury,” said Janus. “How do we get into better department stores and grow up with our consumer who is starting to mix luxury items into their wardrobe?”
In 2013 the brand bought back its U.S. license and created an independent American subsidiary and Janus was charged with growing business in the U.S. Over the course of the last few years, he’s made small shifts to get the company, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, where it is today.
Step one was slowly increasing the price points and changing the distribution from mall stores to better department stores. Janus

7 Signs of Identity Theft
Tis’ the season for identity theft. This is the time of year ID theft rises. Although your identity can be stolen at any time you want to be more careful around the holidays. During the holiday season your credit and debit card transitions increase whether it’s in store or online. We are all aware of retail systems being hacked, but remember to stay aware of phishing emails — emails that may resemble a known person, creditor, etc. with ‘phishing’ links that allow the hacker(s) access to your personal information — within your email or computer system. Scammers seem more desperate around the holiday season so it’s important to stay aware and be safe.
According to The 2017 Identity Fraud Study released by Javelin Strategy & Research, $ 16 billion was stolen from 15.4 million U.S. consumers in 2016.
Information obtained during the holidays may not necessarily be used right away so it’s important to stay on top of monitoring your personal information. Pay careful attention to the signs below to be sure you aren’t a victim of identity theft.
Unknown credit inquiry
If you notice unauthorized credit inquiries on your credit report, this can be a sign of identity theft. A credit inquiry means a potential lender is seeing how credit worthy you are. Inquiries can remain for 2 years. If you need to review your credit report, you can do so for free at annualcreditreport.com
Unknown charges on credit card or bank statement
Unknown charges on your credit card or debit card are a red flag. As soon as you see an unknown charge, be sure to report it to your bank or creditor. Even if the charge is less than $ 1. Some thieves will start by pilfering money from your account cents at a time to see if a consumer notices. Then overnight wipe out your card or account. Immediately report unknown charges and replace your card if you become a victim. Many banks and credit card companies cover unauthorized charges and should refund your money without any issues.
Receiving bills that aren’t yours
We all get the monthly bills in the mail and sometimes an occasional bill or one that isn’t monthly, but if you start receiving bills or collection notices for services or products that aren’t yours, you may be a victim of identity theft. There is a chance someone opened an account in your name, and now you are being tracked down by skip tracers to pay the cost. Be sure to contact the bill collector and file a police report immediately, you will need the report to dispute, if the bill hits your credit report.
Address changes on credit report or accounts
If you are one who monitors your credit report, be sure to look at the personal information tab. Many consumers only look at account information. Personal information is very important as well, if you notice an address you have never resided at, you may be a victim of identity theft. Once a credit application is filed in your name, the address reported on the application is updated within your credit file. Any inconsistent information can be corrected with the appropriate credit bureau. Remember, there are three separate credit bureaus and each may contain different information: Experian, Transunion, Equifax.
Tax return already filed
Tax season opens the end of January each year, but the deadline to file taxes isn’t until April, many consumers are still waiting on important documents to file and rarely file early. Criminals have now begun to file fraudulent tax returns, typically in the first few weeks of tax season, beating the consumer to the punch. If you find a tax return has already been filed in your name, contact the IRS immediately as well as a police report.
Denial of Credit
If you know you have good credit and all of a sudden you are denied credit, check your credit report to be sure everything is in order. While Identity theft can be a reason, there are other factors for denial as well.
Traffic Tickets in Your Name
If you’ve ever received notice of traffic tickets for which you weren’t the offender, someone may be using your ID. Believe it or not, this happens more times than it should with many officers only glancing at the ID and not comparing identity. You want to get any mistaken identity straightened out and see about changing your ID & Drivers License number.

Canelo Alvarez signs 5-year, 11-fight deal worth minimum $365 million with DAZN
As the old saying goes, as one door closes, another one opens. Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions stable of fighters, including Canelo Alvarez, the unified middleweight world champion and boxing’s biggest superstar, have long been stalwarts of HBO. But with the premium cable network’s recent announcement that after 45 years of putting on most of the biggest fights in boxing it was bowing out of the sport at the end of the year, they were in need of a new broadcast home — and they have landed a very lucrative one with new sports streaming service DAZN through 2023. In a record-shattering deal finalized early Wednesday morning, Alvarez signed a five-year, 11-fight deal worth a minimum of $ 365 million with DAZN, which only launched in the United States in September. It will commence with his move up to super middleweight to challenge secondary world titlist Rocky Fielding on Dec. 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York, where they will meet face-to-face at the…

Starz Signs 50 Cent To Multiyear Project Deal

Source: Starz / Starz
Even after all the drama and public bickering between 50 Cent and Starz, it seems like business will always outweigh personal conflicts.
Yesterday Starz announced that they had signed Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson to a new multi-year deal that will allow Fif to continue to will continue to develop new scripted and unscripted projects exclusively for the network through his G-Unit Film & Television, Inc. Not bad for someone who constantly takes his employers to task on social media.
But regardless of how crazy things got in the past, the cable network couldn’t deny the results that 50 got them and rewarded him with a extension. Both 50 and Starz CEO/President Chris Albrecht knew that at the end of the day they needed each other.
“When I sat down with Chris and walked him through my plans for G-Unit Film & Television going forward, he let me know I was essentially requesting the biggest deal in premium cable history. I am excited to announce that we’ve made that partnership between myself, G-Unit Film & Television and Starz/Lionsgate and we will continue our proven track record of breaking records and delivering unique content for audiences around the world…..Get The Strap,” said Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
Starz CEO & President Chris Albrecht added, “Both on screen and off, Curtis has proven that he can deliver content that our viewers want to watch. He is the real deal, and we have given him a real deal, with what I believe to be among the most significant deals to date for an Executive Producer in premium television. We’re pleased to expand our relationship and consider this the beginning of many new and exciting ventures to come.”
Now that 50’s officially done acting on Power thanks to the death of his character, Kenan, he’ll have more time on his hands to come up with other crime drama series and possibly act in them as well. But that doesn’t mean he’s completely done with the smash Starz series as the new deal guarantees that he’ll still have a hand in executive producing the series and will make his directorial debut in season six. It also guarantees that the G-Unit general will serve as an executive producer on any future seasons of the series as well as any extensions of the “Power” universe on the big or small screen.
While many questioned 50’s antics and actions over the years when dealing with Starz with many fearing he’d get fired from the network, the end result seems to demonstrate that he actually knew what he was doing. Go figure.
