The Georgia politician said she will decide about a Senate race by early April, but a White House bid, on themes of race and identity, is under consideration.

Loose Women’s Stacey Solomon swore Joe Swash to silence over pregnancy news – and then told everyone

STACEY Solomon swore boyfriend Joe Swash to silence over their pregnancy news – and then told everyone herself.

The 29-year-old Loose Women star – who announced the couple’s pregnancy earlier today – laughed as Joe, 37, told today’s panel show how Stacey had laid down the law and then found herself unable to keep the news secret herself.

Stacey revealed the story on today’s Loose Women

He said: “She gave me ground rules about what I could and could not say and then I bumped into Alison Hammond and she gave me a big hug and said congratulations.”

Stacey also admitted she found herself confused about who she had told about the pregnancy.

She said: “I don’t know what to do. I’m so elated and excited. I can’t believe we’re so privileged to be having another child. I forgot who I told. I kept just doing this weird nod to people as if, ‘You know right?’

“We felt it was important to keep it to ourselves until we were safe. We didn’t find out until a certain point and then we had to let our families know and our children know. And there is a point when you just want to keep it to yourself.”

Joe revealed he is overjoyed with the baby news
The couple beamed with happiness about their news

Joe added: “It’s brilliant, I’m really chuffed. It’s just nice to have the secret out. We’ve had to keep it undercover and so it’s nice we can let people know.”

“We’re really blessed and excited. I can’t wait to see what our little kids going to look like.”

The couple both became emotional as they spoke about their future baby, with Stacey tearing up as she said: “I don’t know what to say, it’s such a massive thing and it’s happening to us so I just don’t know what to say.”

The celeb couple took to Instagram this morning to share the news with their followers.

Stacey shared a photo of the baby scan

Sharing a series of pictures of Stacey asleep, former EastEnders actor Joe, 37, was the first to make the exciting announcement on his social media page.

The star wrote: “Have been driving myself mad thinking that she’s bored senseless of me and can’t stand to be awake for longer than 10 minutes of my company…

“So you can imagine my delight to find out that she still loves me and my company very much she’s just been growing a baby.

“I can’t begin to describe how happy we are to be able to share this wonderful news. We’ve been so blessed with three incredible children that we’ve had the privilege of raising and we are forever grateful to have the chance to become parents to another wonderful child.

“It’s all very overwhelming and emotional and we couldn’t be happier right now.”

Emotional Stacey followed up with a picture of the scan, adding: “Every time I go to write anything I sob so… what he said @realjoeswashy”.

Taking to Twitter, the expectant star retweeted Joe’s message and added: “Words aren’t working for me right now so ditto @realjoeswash” alongside a crying and yellow heart emoji.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain shortly after making the announcement, Joe said of his girlfriend: “She’s all good, she’s excited.

“We just can’t wait for it to happen.”

When quizzed on the due date, Joe refused to give any details away – simply saying that he “can’t say now”.

Stacey and Joe first started dating in January 2016 and the former X Factor star is already mum to 10-year-old Zachary and six-year-old Leighton, who she shares with ex Dean Cox.

Meanwhile, Joe is dad to 11-year-old Harry who he shares with ex-fiancee Emma.

Earlier this week, Stacey alluded to the tiredness that she is suffering from in her pregnancy in a candid Instagram post.

The exhausted mum tickled her followers when she shared a photo of her two sons playing computer games on separate TVs while she watched Friends.

Stacey confessed that she had “totally given up on parenting” on the first day of half term, adding: “Feeling like I’ve been stripped of every ounce of energy for no reason at all today.”

Stacey tickled fans with this honest parenting post earlier this week

On Valentine’s Day, the pair prompted speculation that they had got engaged after Joe shared a sweet snap of the Loose Women star in bed with her left hand hidden.

Later in the day, both of the hands were in shot with no ring in sight – with Stacey saying just last month that she would accept a Poundland engagement ring from her husky-voiced beau.

But despite her marriage desires, Stacey recently teased that she and Joe are more likely to welcome a child together before they walk down the aisle.

This Valentine’s photo prompted speculation that the pair had got engaged last week

Writing in her New! column, the star said: “Joe and I have both spoken about it and neither of us are headstrong about having that marriage contract.

“We’re moving in together and probably want to have children before we get married.

“And when we’ve got through life and fed our children and they’re independent, that’s when I would think, ‘Should we get married?’”

Joe and Stacey moved in together in October last year.

The 6 Best Quotes From Stacey Abrams’ SOTU Rebuttal Speech

Last night’s most surprising note of conciliation among pundits had nothing to do with the State of the Union address. It came after Stacey Abrams’ SOTU rebuttal speech, the response to which was virtually unanimous: She did a great job.

It may have also been one of the best campaign launch speeches ever! The question remains: what is she campaigning for? Whatever it is — I’m in.

Abrams, the first black woman ever selected to give the Democratic response to the State of the Union, got extra points for excelling in one of politics’ most difficult and thankless jobs. No surprise there given women of color have changed the world inch-by-inch for generations by leveraging the hell out of exactly such unwelcome and underestimated roles.

While some pundits may have been enlightened by Abrams’s seamless performance, its unlikely that anyone who has ever seen her speak was the least bit surprised – whether they agree with her politics or not.

On her worst day – jet lagged, ill prepared, with both hands tied behind her back, and no teleprompter for 300 miles – Abrams is a far better orator than Donald Trump at his rehearsed best. Keep in mind that is pretty much what he offered last night.

As a lawyer, writer, and former Georgia House Minority Leader, Abrams, 45, is a gifted and experienced communicator, who has both drawn upon and honed these skills throughout her career – never more than in the last 18 months as she ran (from coast-to-coast) for Georgia governor.

While she didn’t prevail in that race, she managed to spin a technical loss into a moral and political victory that has her supporters eagerly anticipating her next run.

While Abrams’s specific ambitions yet to be articulated, her campaign may have just begun. Need evidence? How about her speech’s stated family values of “Faith, service, education, and responsibility.” Need more? Start with these most memorable quotes below. Campaign slogan, anyone?

The 6 Best Quotes From Stacey Abrams’s SOTU Rebuttal Speech

1.”Victory is not winning for our party; victory is winning for our country.”

2.”Our power and strength as Americans lives in our hard work and our belief in more.”

3.”Our most urgent work is to realize Americans’ dreams of today and tomorrow.”

4.”The foundation of our moral leadership around the globe is free and fair elections, where voters pick their leaders, not where politicians pick their voters.”

5.”Our progress has always been found in the refuge, in the basic instinct of the American experiment, to do right by our people.”

6.”Together, we are coming for America. For a better America.”

Abrams will be a featured speaker at this year’s Women of Power Summit. There is still time to register for the event being held at the Mirage, Las Vegas, February 28-March 3.

Stacey Abrams Is the Most Googled Politician of 2018

Stacey Abrams made history when she became the first black woman to run for governor in the state of Georgia. Or, as we like to call her—a political shero and Woman of Power. Her campaign journey was competitive by nature, yet she persevered despite the many challenges that arose. For the past 12 months, the world has been getting to know Abrams and as a result—she is now the most Googled politician in 2018 according to Googles 2018 list of top searches in the United States.

It goes without saying that Abrams had one hell of a year and she never fails to inspire us. She reigns among the ranks of powerful women who courageously challenged and shook up the political landscape in November.

She once said,

“Remember this in the darkest moments, when the work doesn’t seem worth it, and change seems just out of reach: out of our willingness to push through comes a tremendous power… Use it.”

In the ever-present time of voter suppression, she continues to advocate for equal voting rights for citizens of Georgia who were subjected to corruption during the midterm election with her newly established organization, Fair Fight Georgia.

And we can’t wait to hear more about each and every moment that prepared her for the campaign trail and her work on the ground as a freedom fighter at the Women of Power Summit. That’s right, the Former Georgia House Democratic Leader will be joining us during the transition from Black History Month to Women’s History Month in Las Vegas from Feb. 28 – March 3, 2019, at The Mirage.

Until then, you can continue to Google all of the great things that she’s up to! Better yet, stay tuned because we’re certain she’ll have a few messages to share with you leading up to the Summit.

Stacey Abrams has ended her campaign in Georgia and will sue for “gross mismanagement” of the election

Stacey Abrams has ended her campaign in Georgia and will sue for “gross mismanagement” of the election

Stacey Abrams has ended her campaign in Georgia and will sue for “gross mismanagement” of the election

In devastating news, Stacey Abrams has ended her campaign for governor in Georgia against Republican Brian Kemp—which, if she’d won, would have made her the first Black woman ever to lead a U.S. state. The Democratic politician is also set to file a lawsuit against the state of Georgia for “gross mismanagement” of the election.

In her November 16th speech, Abrams said firmly that her decision to end her campaign was not a concession.

“Let’s be clear—this is not a speech of concession, because concession means to acknowledge an action is right, true, or proper. As a woman of conscience and faith, I cannot concede that,” she said. “But my assessment is the law currently allows no further viable remedy. Now, I can certainly bring a new case to keep this one contest alive, but I don’t want to hold public office if I need to scheme my way into the post. Because the title of governor isn’t nearly as important as our shared title—voters. And that is why we fight on.”

Referring to Kemp, she added, “Under the watch of the now-former secretary of state, democracy failed Georgia. Make no mistake, the former secretary of state was deliberate and intentional in his actions. I know that eight years of systemic disenfranchisement, disinvestment, and incompetence had its desired effect on the electoral process in Georgia.”

Abrams’ speech comes on the heels of a contentious campaign against Kemp in the November 6th midterm elections; since then, Abrams’ team has fought hard to secure enough votes to force a December 4th runoff, but Kemp kept a narrow lead over Abrams.

Over 1,000 absentee votes were rejected during Georgia’s midterm elections due to minor administrative errors, such as mismatched addresses and birth dates, and even more voters had lost their right to cast a ballot earlier in the campaign because of a Kemp-era policy. Georgians had to contend with major voting difficulties due to broken machines, long lines, and untrained poll workers. Even Kemp, who oversaw the midterm elections and faced allegations of voter suppression, reportedly had issues voting as well.

Opinion: Stacey Abrams is being robbed in plain sight

Opinion: Stacey Abrams is being robbed in plain sight

Opinion: Stacey Abrams is being robbed in plain sight

Author Michael Arceneaux discusses voter suppression and racist tactics in Georgia that have resulted in Stacey Abrams’ powerful refusal to concede to Brain Kemp in the governor’s race.

During a November 9th press conference, Stacey Abrams’ campaign manager, Lauren Groh-Wargo, succinctly explained the chaos surrounding the Georgia gubernatorial election held on Tuesday, which still lacks a resolution. “These suppressive tactics [are] remnants of the old South,” she explained. Groh-Wargo is referring to Abrams’ opponent, Brian Kemp, who served as the state’s secretary of state up until this week. Thus, he was the referee in his own fight against Abrams for the governorship.

Groh-Wargo allowed numerous Abrams supporters to explain how the trickery employed against them deprived them of their constitutional right to vote. Their stories are frustrating, but Brian Kemp has long made his intentions clear. Kemp never threw a rock and hid his hand; he threw the rock at the heads of the Black folks registering to vote, and then used that hand to swat them—and their absentee and provisional ballots—away.

In 2014, Kemp had this to say about Democrats like Abrams who he claims take advantage of Georgia’s changing demographics by encouraging voter registration: “Democrats are working hard, and all these stories about them, you know, registering all these minority voters that are out there and others that are sitting on the sidelines, if they can do that, they can win these elections in November.”

And ever since then, he’s done everything in his power to excel disenfranchisement and keep Black people in their place. In order to maintain control of Georgia politics, he has purged more than 1.5 million registered voters from the system between 2016 and 2018. This year, he attempted to use “exact match” law to keep some 53,000 pending voters from registration. Along with purging, Kemp has shut down more than 200 polling places, unsurprisingly in predominantly poor and minority areas. It remains to be seen if Kemp will be successful with his plot to literally steal the election in plain sight, but if he does, I agree with The Atlantic’s Carol Anderson who says that Kemp’s victory should come with an asterisk.

Because of his Jim Crow Jr. shtick, it has been difficult for me to write about what is happening to Stacey Abrams without festering in rage and cynicism.

There are so many reasons to be angry about what is happening to Abrams, and by extension, to us—meaning the Black people whose voices are being stifled by an entitled coward and thief.

Kemp’s mediocrity is masked by a white supremacist patriarchal system that has allowed his pathetic ilk to simply snatch power as they see fit. That is to say, certain things are to be expected. Abrams has expected many things throughout this election, and has smartly complained accordingly.

I’m not surprised that CNN exit polling revealed an estimated 75 percent of white women—more than white men —supported Kemp over Abrams. Bernie Sanders is right that some white voters are uncomfortable voting for Black candidates like Stacey Abrams and Andrew Gillum, but he is wrong for stating that doesn’t make those voters racist on some level. Having said that, I frankly hope that white folks who aren’t racist talk to their racist relatives at Thanksgiving—‘cause clearly my Black ass can’t convince y’all.

Abrams, like any Democrat, can only get elected by winning a combination of the electorate: enough of the white voters and the majority of everyone else—especially Black voters. Abrams’ problem is centered on Kemp’s contempt for the Black voter and the actions of the entire Republican Party in the state of Georgia. Black people should not have to wait in line for five hours to vote because someone “accidentally” forgot to send power cords to polling stations in Black neighborhoods. Brian Kemp may have ironically had trouble voting for himself on Election Day, but he intentionally makes it hell for Black people to vote for his opponent.

You know, as fascinating as the Russian conspiracy related to the 2016 presidential election is, I wish the national media covered voter suppression with greater urgency. To not do so is to fall in line with GOP orthodoxy that claims Black people don’t deserve the same privileges as white voters. In spite of my fury and doubt, I applaud Abrams for her determination.

On Tuesday night, she declared, “In our Georgia, no one would be unseen; no one is unheard; and, no one is uninspired. Democracy only works when we work for it. When we fight for it. When we demand it.”

She has not once buckled under the power trips of her bigoted opponent. Instead, she continues standing tall and poised as she pushes Georgia to live up to its purported standards (before a national audience). “There are voices that are waiting to be heard,”Abrams said. And so they should be.

It is my hope that Abrams gets her runoff, but no matter the final outcome, one can’t shake the sight of the robbery happening in real time.

The View’s Meghan McCain Tried To Come For Stacey Abrams On Gun Laws, Promptly Gathered

2018 Essence Festival New Orleans

Meghan McCain didn’t know who she was dealing with. The View host questioned Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams about her stance on gun control and the Spelman and Yale grad swiftly and eloquently shut down the late Sen. McCain’s daughter.

McCain asked Abrams, who is proud to have an F-rating from the NRA, if she was in favor of banning at infamous AR-15 assault rifle in the wake of the synagogue massacre in Pittsburgh. Abrams ably answered the leading question.

“So let’s be clear, I am not anti-gun. My great-grandmother taught me how to shoot when I was growing up in Mississippi,” said Abrams. “I like trap shooting, I like target shooting. I don’t hunt because I mostly eat chicken and that just seems mean.”

That latter portion of her answer elicited laughs, and McCain, who was trying to give the impression that Abrams wants to storm in and take everyone’s guns away, just wasn’t ready.

She added, “However, I know that the most responsible gun owners understand that they have the responsibility for the firearms, and making sure that only responsible people have those firearms. That’s I why I believe in a background check.”

She also got cheers when she said she believed weapons of mass destruction, like the AR-15, should not be in civilian hands.

Watch Abrams’ gathering, and her assertion that she believes in the 2nd amendment, in the clip below.
