Sandra Oh thanked someone pretty surprising in her SAGS acceptance speech

We love you, Sandra

It was a win for Sandra Oh at the SAG Awards 2019 last night as she took home ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series’ for her part in Killing Eve.

The star beat out Robin Wright (House of Cards), Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), Julia Garner (Ozark) and Laura Linney (Ozark) to claim the award for her role as MI5 officer Eve Polastri.

Naturally Sandra gave an extremely impassioned acceptance speech, taking the opportunity to thank the cast of Killing Eve and her mentor, Kim Gillingham, as well as her acting peers who had supported her over the years.

‘I just so want to thank my fellow actors; I have felt your support so tremendously the last years,’ she began. ‘I want to thank Alfre Woodard, in 1997 – she’s never going to remember this, [but] she whispers in my ear – “I’m so proud of you up there. We fight the same fight.”

‘Jamie Foxx in 2006 pulled me aside and said, “Keep going.” And in 2017, Lena Waithe, she just embraced me and said, “You already won. It’s in the work.” So thank you to my fellow actors. Thank you so much.’

This marks Sandra’s fourth SAG award having previously picked up awards for her work in Sideways and Grey’s Anatomy.

Roll on Killing Eve series 2, we say…

Photo battle between the iPhone and the Pixel has a surprising winner

Pixel Vs iPhone

For as amazing as camera quality on the iPhone is today, the original iPhone camera was nothing to write home about. Equipped with nothing more than a fixed-focus 2-megapixel camera, the original iPhone delivered subpar pictures even compared to other devices at the time.

Apple, though, eventually started throwing a lot of money at camera development. Before long, it seemed that each successive iPhone routinely set a new bar for mobile camera quality that competitors simply couldn’t keep up with. That said, the mobile landscape is always changing and Apple now has some stiff competition when it comes to mobile photography. What’s more, there’s a strong case to be made that Apple these days finds itself playing catch-up when it comes to overall camera quality.

There May Be a Surprising Link Between Depression and Concussions in Kids Who Play Football

For years, studies have found that depression is an all-too-common symptom of concussions. Youth athletes, college athletes and retired NFL players who have suffered brain injuries are all at increased risk of mental illness. A new study, published in The Journal of Pediatrics, flips the relationship between concussions and depression, and asks a different question: Are kids who have depression more at risk of suffering a concussion while playing football?

Indeed, according to the new research, children who have been previously diagnosed with depression had a five-fold increased risk of suffering a concussion while playing football compared to those who did not have a depression diagnosis.

The study tracked 863 youth football players from ages 5 through 14 in the Seattle area over two recent seasons. Researchers found a 5.1% concussion incidence rate, higher than the reported rate in prior studies of youth football players, which ranged between 0.9% and 4.4%. The number of youth players who had been previously diagnosed with depression was small: just 16 out of the 863 players. Still, their greater odds of suffering a concussion was statistically significant, and provides more information for parents to consider when making the often difficult decision whether or not their sons should play football.

Dr. Sara Chrisman, lead author of the study and an assistant professor of adolescent medicine at Seattle Children’s Hospital, offers potential explanations for this finding. Kids with a history of depression might be more likely to recognize concussion symptoms, like fatigue and wooziness, and report them, which could lead to higher rates of concussion diagnosis. “Often people with mental health issues are very in tune with uncomfortableness in their bodies,” says Chrisman. “They’re more likely to be aware of changes. What’s not as distressing to someone else, might be distressing to them.”

Chrisman also points to research that links depression with riskier behavior, particularly in younger men. “In general, depression makes people want to crawl into a hole,” Chrisman says. “But depression is expressed differently in different people.” If a child with a history of depression is more likely to play aggressively — perhaps throwing caution aside while making a tackle — he could increase his risk of becoming concussed. Children who behave recklessly are also more likely to see a psychologist, which raises the odds of a depression diagnosis. Kids with such diagnoses may bring these aggressive behaviors onto the football field.

The relationship between depression and concussions is ripe for further research. “To our knowledge,” Chrisman and her fellow researchers write, “depression history has not been previously reported as a risk factor for concussions in a prospective manner.” These findings add to the reported risks of football, but Chrisman also found some encouraging news for kids who play the sport. “In general, we found that kids weren’t going back to play football until they’ve recovered from their concussions,” she says. “That hasn’t been true in some prior studies. Some systems in place are working.”

Tamar Braxton Tells Her Former ‘The Real’ Co-Hosts Exactly How She Feels About Returning To The Show In Surprising Video

Oh, Boy! Tamar Braxton had an epic clap-back for the ladies of The Real who had a lot to say about her firing.

It is a known fact that Tamar is not one to hold her tongue and while appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen After Show, she threw her former co-hosts under the bus.

A caller asked her when was the last time she spoke with her ex-friends — Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, Adrienne Houghton, and Tamera Mowry-Housley.

The fan also wondered if she would ever return to the show. Tamar said: “The last time I spoke to them was at the Emmys. Would I return to do what?”

Andy Cohen added: “To be on the show, sweetie.” Tamar replied, “I don’t know.” Andy sensed where Vincent Herbert’s estranged wife was leaning and added, “you’re the best! I have a feeling the answer is no!”

You can watch the clip below.

Tamar’s ex-coworker, Loni, recently did an interview on the Breakfast Club, where she was asked why was Tamar fired from The Real, and she brought up Towanda’s name by saying: “I get on a plane to go to Atlanta [and] guess who’s in front of me, in first-class: Towanda. She told me they did an emergency episode of Braxton Family Values, and, ‘You need to see the episode.’”

She continued, “I had a person that worked at WEtv. The person that worked at WEtv contacted me [and said], ‘You are being named, the girls are being named,’ and I called my attorney, and I said, ‘You gotta call WEtv and let them know if they’re naming us, we’re gonna have to have legal action. That’s defamation of character.”

Towanda was not having it, and she hit back by writing: “What I’m not willing to do is allow ANYONE to create dissension. I absolutely was on that flight with @comiclonilove And how many years ago was this conversation? I’m amused at how the statements were paraphrased. It was NEVER a heads up…. AND as soon as I saw Loni on the flight, I IMMEDIATELY contacted Tamar to let her know. The interview circulating that I’m included in is bullsh*t.”

One fan said: “You better come through with this fabulous read!!!! Tamar has moved on to bigger and better things! It’s so pathetic that they still have to bring up old news!!! I haven’t watched it since she left!!!’

Tamar masters the art of the diss and she has no competition in this department.

Sexy, Classic, Surprising: Inside Meghan Markle’s Royal Wardrobe

Arthur Edwards/Getty

It took Meghan Markle only two seconds to close her own car door on Wednesday. But the moment of relatability left many Markle stans clutching their imitation Aquazzura pumps in celebration. Deal or No Deal-briefcase-girl-turned-royalty… they’re just like us! Except for, you know, the million-dollar wardrobe.

Before closing her own door, Markle had exited the her car in a long-sleeved, black Givenchy number that would come off a bit too Wednesday Addams save for a strategically placed skirt slit. For her first solo outing as a royal, Markle oozed the breezy confidence she’s known for.

Even before joining the royal family, Markle projected self-assuredness. She ran a site called The Tig, where she blogged about independence and living alone. In 2015, she penned an essay for Darling detailing how she found self-confidence as a young actress when a casting director told you, “You need to know that you’re enough.”
