Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Taps Yvette Torres to be Director of Environmental Services, Dan Tyler as Director of Continuing Care

HONOLULU — Kaiser Permanente Hawaii made two management announcements, naming Yvette Torres director of environmental services and Dan Tyler director of continuing care. Torres will oversee the Environmental Services Department, helping to ensure safe and healthy conditions at Kaiser Permanente facilities on Oahu, Maui and Hawaii Island, and the efficient transport of patients, supplies and materials. In his new role in continuing care, Tyler will be responsible for long-term care and outside case management for the Hawaii Region.

Torres comes to Kaiser Permanente Hawaii from Sodexo and the Straub Medical Center, where she held environmental services and patient transport positions for nearly six years. She also held similar positions at The Queen’s Medical Center for five years. She attended the University of Hawaii Leeward Community College, and Michigan State University. She is certified in hospital-based decontamination, and is a member of the American Hospital Association.

Tyler joined Kaiser Permanente in July 2016 through the Health Care Operations/Junior Military Officer Program. He spent his first six months working in the Brand, Communications and Public Relations Division and transitioned to Moanalua Medical Center as a special assistant to the hospital’s executive team in January 2017. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Tyler served as a naval officer. He holds bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and philosophy from Indiana University and Purdue University at Indianapolis, and a master’s degree in systems engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School.
