Warner Bros’ File Copyright Claim Against Trump Tweet, Has ‘Dark Night’ Music Removed

Late on Tuesday night, Warner Bros.’ Pictures were forced to file a copyright infringement complaint against President Donald Trump and The White House due to their most recent controversial tweet. The two-minute 2020 re-election campaign video, which has since been taken down by Twitter after the complaint was filed, used music from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises without the film studios consent.

The very strange video, which used the composer Hans Zimmer’s “Why Do We Fall” from the 2012 film, also used the same font from the movie, but portrayed a very different message. The text, which appears to be have been altered from another quote, said: “First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they call you a racist. Donald J. Trump. Your vote. Proved them all wrong. Trump: The Great Victory. 2020.”

The trailer-like video showed footage of Donald Trump from various rallies and events around the country, along with people who Trump would consider villains in his own superhero story, such as former President Barack Obama, his previous Democratic presidential rival Hillary Clinton, and comedians Rosie O’Donnell and Amy Schumer.

The video also highlighted Trump’s meetings with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and Brazil’s recently elected President Jair Bolsonaro.

After BuzzFeed News first reported that the music was used without approval, Warner Bros. took action and quickly filled a copyright claim. Last night a spokesperson from Warner Bros. said in a statement: “The use of Warner Bros.’ score from ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ in the campaign video was unauthorized. We are working through the appropriate legal channels to have it removed.”

The quick action by Warner. Bros led to Twitter removing the video after only a couple of hours, as it was deemed to have breached the social networks own copyright policies. However, this didn’t stop the video being viewed almost 1.8 million times.

This isn’t the first time that Trump has gotten into trouble for using cultural material without approval. Last year, Trump tweeted a meme based on the Game of Thrones tagline “Winter is Coming”, which said “Sanctions are Coming”, much to HBO’s displeasure.

Previously, Twitter also took steps to remove another one of Donald Trump’s tweets due to copyright infringement. Earlier this year his official Twitter account used the band R.E.M.’s most famous tracks “Everybody Hurts” in a promotional, which was taken down after the band complained to Twitter.

As the 2020 presidential race already begins to hot up, we’re sure this won’t be the last of Trump’s tweets that causes some level of controversy.

Tom Brady’s First Ever Tweet Was an April Fools Joke

(FOXBOROUGH, Mass.) — Don’t. Even. Joke.

New England Patriots fans who forgot that Monday is April Fools’ Day might have been panicking when quarterback Tom Brady tweeted that he had decided to retire.

The six-time Super Bowl champion has joined Twitter and his first post said simply: “I’m retiring. In my spare time, I’ll be tweeting.” An email from a Twitter spokeswoman confirmed the account, but it also referred to the fact that the tweet came on April Fools’ Day.

About an hour later, Brady sent out a second tweet that said, “Was this a bad joke?”

Brady is a 41-year-old, three-time NFL MVP who has to stop playing some time. But after leading New England to the title last year, there’s no indication that he’s slowing down.

And anyway, is this how he would announce it?

Even tight end Rob Gronkowski, who actually retired last month, did so with a lengthy Instagram post.

Neither Brady’s agent nor the Patriots immediately responded to emails from The Associated Press seeking comment.

Super Bowl 2019 Prop Bets: Everything From What Gladys Knight Will Wear to How Many Times President Trump Will Tweet

On Sunday, millions of bets will be on the line during Super Bowl 53, and many of them might surprise you.

While most gamblers will wager their money on more traditional bets like who will win the big game (the New England Patriots are favored to beat the Los Angeles Rams), prop betting offers an opportunity for people who don’t know much about the game to get in on the action.

“Prop bets” are bets related to specific events that are likely, or unlikely, to happen during the Super Bowl. They range from which team will score first to what color shirt Adam Levine will wear during his halftime performance.

This year’s Super Bowl will also be the first where sports gambling is legal in seven states other than Nevada, including Delaware, Mississippi, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia. The change in gambling laws comes after a May 2018 6-3 ruling by the U.S Supreme Court.

Oddsshark.com has a full list of the outlandish prop bets being placed this Super Bowl Sunday, but here are just a few of the unorthodox wagers that can be made.

Number of times broadcasters mention the Rams’ Head Coach Sean McVay’s age

Current Odds:

  • OVER 1.5 -175
  • UNDER 1.5 +135

At just 33-years-old, Rams’ Coach Sean McVay is currently the youngest head coach in the NFL, a fact broadcasters have made sure to remind fans many times during the 2018 season. There is a strong chance Super Bowl viewers will get at least one reminder during the game but you’ll need at least two mentions of his age to hit the over.

Will President Trump attend the game?

  • YES +450
  • NO -850

President Trump has been vocal about being a Patriots fan, even congratulating the team when they beat the Kansas City Chiefs during the AFC divisional championship game in January.

Despite that, odds are that the President will probably sit this Super Bowl out and watch from the comfort of his home like most of America. OddsShark has listed the prop at over 450 and under 850.

What color will the liquid be that is poured on the game-winning coach?

  • Lime/green/yellow +225
  • Orange +300
  • Blue +375
  • Red +400
  • Clear/water +400
  • Purple +1000

A popular tradition in sports is pouring a container of sports drink on the game-winning coaches head, also known as “the Gatorade shower.” This prop bet wages on the chosen flavor or color, with OddsShark listing red liquid at over 400 as well as clear liquid/water at over 400 as well.

Other popular prop bets include:

Will Gladys Knight forget or omit a word from the national anthem?

  • YES +300
  • NO -50

How many songs will be played during the Halftime show?

  • OVER 7.5 -120
  • UNDER 7.5 -120

Will any player take a knee during the National Anthem?

  • YES +400
  • NO -700

Will any scoring drive take less time than it takes Gladys Knight to sing the National Anthem?

  • YES -110
  • NO -130

Will a fan run onto the field during the game?

  • YES +800
  • NO -2500

Will any player be ejected for throwing a punch or fighting?

  • YES +700
  • NO -1600

What will be the first song performed by Maroon 5?

  • “Makes Me Wonder” EVEN
  • “One More Night” +550
  • “Moves Like Jagger” +600
  • “Animals” +700
  • “Girls Like You” +900
  • “Sugar” +900
  • “Don’t Wanna Know” +900
  • “Payphone” +1800
  • “This Love” +2000
  • “She Will Be Loved” +2200
  • “Maps” +2200

Will Adam Levine be wearing a hat at the start of the Halftime Show?

  • YES -110
  • NO -130

Will either kicker hit the upright or crossbar on a missed field goal or extra point attempt?

  • YES +375
  • NO -605

How many plays will Tony Romo correctly predict during the game?

Stephen Colbert mocks Trump’s tweet about bringing back ‘global waming’

TwitterFacebook

Trump tweeted about global warming again.

On Monday night, the president said on Twitter that he wanted global warming wanted to “come back fast,” because of the freezing temperatures that have hit the midwest. Quick to correct him, and his spelling of “global waming,” however, was Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night.

“These temperatures are actually caused by global ‘waming’ sir. Polar vortex breaks up and dips out, it’s all predicted,” he said. “Besides, just because it’s cold now, it doesn’t mean climate change is a myth.”

Colbert turned the conversation to things that Trump wishes weren’t real, like the Mueller investigation, and a nervy Matthew Whitaker.  Read more…

Elon Musk Hopes To Block Ex Grimes & Azealia Banks From Tweet Lawsuit Hearing

Source: WENN.com / WENN

Elon Musk triggered a fraud investigation and a fine from the Securities Exchange Commission after he fired off a tweet that he was going to take his company Tesla public at $ 420 per share. At the time, the tweet was made with his ex-girlfriend Grimes and Azealia Banks in his presence and investors in a lawsuit against him with to subpoena the women but Musk’s legal team is hoping to block the move.

Bloomberg reports:

“It is readily apparent that this is more of an effort to sensationalize these proceedings than a legitimate attempt to preserve evidence,” attorney Dean Kristy said in a filing Thursday in federal court in San Francisco.

The Tesla shareholders say the former girlfriend, Canadian singer Claire Elise Boucher, also known as Grimes, may have first-hand knowledge about what Musk was thinking Aug. 7 when he shocked the world with a tweet: “Am considering taking Tesla private at $ 420. Funding secured.”

The investors claim Musk and Tesla manipulated the company’s share price. They allege Musk lied about funding to push the shares higher and ambush short sellers betting against the company.

The investors cite news media accounts placing Musk in the company of Boucher, and rapper Azealia Banks, around the time of the tweet. They contend it’s not unreasonable to subpoena Boucher and Banks to ensure the preservation of anything in writing that might be relevant to the lawsuit — Twitter and Instagram messages in particular.

Banks responded to news of the filing by Musk’s attorney, writing, “This is going to get extremely ugly” before deleting the post.

US military deletes tacky New Year’s Eve tweet about being ‘ready to drop’ a bomb

US military bomb tweet

It’s so easy to party to excess at the end of the year — to get caught up in the year-end revelry and the excitement of turning a page on the calendar. Some people get so caught up in the fun they go out and get hammered. Others gather in Times Square to watch the ball drop while they try not to freeze to death. Meanwhile, the arm of the US military that oversees the nation’s nuclear weapons arsenal decided to get in on the fun in its own way — by sending out a humorous tweet about how big its bombs are. A tweet that, okay, wasn’t actually funny at all. It has since been deleted and the military has also taken the extra step of apologizing for it.

Welcome to 2019.

Simone Biles Upset by USA Gymnastics President’s Anti-Nike Tweet

Olympic champion Simone Biles is upset about an anti-Nike tweet from USA Gymnastics interim president and CEO Mary Bono.

Bono was appointed Friday to hold the position while USA Gymnastics searches for a permanent successor to Kerry Perry, who resigned under pressure from the United States Olympic Committee in September after spending nine months on the job.

Biles responded Saturday to a tweet from Bono last month criticizing Nike following the release of its advertising campaign featuring former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Bono, a former Republican congresswoman, had posted a photo of herself drawing over a Nike logo on a golf shoe.

Biles quote-tweeted Bono’s photo and wrote: “(asterisk)mouth drop(asterisk) don’t worry, it’s not like we needed a smarter usa gymnastics president or any sponsors or anything.”

Bono deleted her tweet about five hours later, saying she regretted the post and respects “everyone’s views & fundamental right to express them.”

Nike is one of Biles’ sponsors.

Biles is among the more than 200 women who have come forward over the last two years claiming they were sexually abused by former team doctor Larry Nassar under the guise of treatment. Biles was critical of Perry for not being vocal enough in support of the survivors.
