After years of speculation, and months of teasing, Tesla late on Thursday night finally unveiled the Model Y. Though the build up to the Model Y reveal didn’t engender as much excitement as, say, the Model 3, Tesla’s newest crossover vehicle does bring a lot to the table.

Design wise, the Model Y is about what you would expect from a car built on the same platform as the Model 3. It’s noticeably bigger than the Model 3 and can seat seven people. As a point of interest, Tesla CEO Elon Musk a few weeks back said that the Model Y would be about 10% bigger than the Model 3.

Business Accelerator Tomorrow Unveils Conceptual Showroom in Paris

PARIS — Business accelerator Tomorrow is expanding its business in Paris, with the opening of a showroom that will focus on highlighting gender-fluid, women’s wear and “conceptual streetwear” brands.
The space, which is called Tomorrow Le Palais and situated in Paris’ Left Bank, opened its doors with an event Saturday night during Paris Fashion Week.
For fall 2019, the showroom will represent brands including Ottolinger, Mister IT, Akiko Aoki, Aalto, Pyer Moss, Afterhomework and Situationist. It has also partnered with the likes of Ambush, the jewelry label by Dior’s Yoon Ahn, Colville, Coperni and Diesel Red Tag x GR-Uniforma, who will all create installations that will be showcased across the new space, an 18th-century mansion built by renown architect Germain Boffrand.

Louis Vuitton Unveils Digital ‘Postcard’ Window Displays

VIRTUAL VOYAGE: To coincide with the launch of its spring fashion collection in stores, Louis Vuitton has unveiled a series of what it describes as “futuristic postcards” in the form of digital window displays in 12 of its stores worldwide.
Created by scenographer Es Devlin under the artistic direction of Nicolas Ghesquière, the installations are conceived as “teleportation portals toward a transformed city, living postcards of tomorrow’s world,” the house said.
Each window display features original video content lasting 24 hours created by artist Mike “Beeple” Winkelmann, who also designed a series of exclusive prints for the spring collection.
The displays were recently unveiled in stores in Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Milan and Tokyo.

Sony Officially Unveils Its Flagship Xperia 1 Smartphone

After Sony‘s full Xperia line up leaked earlier this month, the Japanese tech giant has now officially unveiled its flagship Xperia 1 model. Undoubtedly the stand-out smartphone in the line, the Xperia 1 is designed to focus on movie fans with a number of features included for both watching and making movies.

The Xperia 1 is the first smartphone to come with a 4k OLED HDR display, while other key features include its 6.5-inch, 21:9 aspect ratio, its triple-lens camera and eye autofocus tracking taken from Sony’s A7 III mirrorless camera. The phone’s movie-shooting capabilities are enhanced through a hybrid stabilization system to remove camera shake, as well as eight cinematic color presents and the ability to shoot 4K HDR at 24 fps in a 21:9 widescreen format.

Other specs of the Xperia 1 include the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Elsewhere, the phone will come with a waterproof body, a 3,300 mAh battery and a fingerprint reader located on its side. Sony’s high-end Xperia 1 is slated to hit the US market by the end of Spring 2019. No price has been announced yet, although an earlier leak put it at $ 1,099 USD.

In other tech news, LG is set to release a new dual-screen smartphone.

Adidas Original Unveils Collaboration with Ji Won Choi

TAKE FIVE: New York-based Korean fashion designer Ji Won Choi is the latest emerging talent Adidas Original tapped to design a capsule women’s ready-to-wear collection.
“The idea was to take the very classic Adidas tracksuits and reinterpret it with my aesthetic in five different ways. I took the very iconic Adidas stripes and repeated it everywhere to create a consistent and cohesive visual language and merge it with the sportiness and playfulness of the brand,” Choi explained during the presentation.
The clothes were shown in a huge basement near Camden market during London Fashion Week. A colorful 3D maze was built and models walked up and down on interconnected staircases as in an infinite loop.
Alex Weiland, the director of special projects at Adidas who discovered Choi on Instagram, said it’s “important for us to give a new platform for young designers. London has such an appetite for emerging design talents. So we decide to take her here.”
She said the first drop is slated for Feb. 23 Feb at retailers including Kith, Dover Street Market and Barneys New York. A second drop in a black and white color way will happen in May.

Genny Unveils Limited-edition Gowns at Metropolitan Opera

GENNY’S GOWNS: Genny’s creative director Sara Cavazza Facchini took New York Fashion Week to unveil a capsule collection of ballgowns called “Black Evening Essential.”
The collection was unveiled on Feb. 10 at the Metropolitan Opera on the occasion of the lyrical concert “Three Centuries of Love” hosted by Andrea Bocelli. Marking a return to the opera house for Bocelli after a seven-year absence, the singer was accompanied by Isabel Leonard and Nadine Sierra, both clad in Genny’s evening gowns.
“We are proud to have been able to join forces [with Andrea Bocelli] once again. Just like we did in the past, on the occasion of social and charitable initiatives with the Andrea Bocelli Foundation,” said Cavazza Facchini.

The limited-edition collection, already available at the label’s stores, as well as on its e-commerce, includes a range of evening gowns, which reinterpret Genny’s signature pieces in different black versions, presented with an installation in the theater foyer.

Luisa Via Roma Unveils Limited-Edition Holiday Collection

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS: Despite the unexpected wave of mild springlike weather in Italy, Luisa Via Roma revealed on Thursday it is gearing up to celebrate the holiday season.
On Nov. 15, the Florentine multibrand store will launch a limited-edition holiday collection, which includes dedicated products designed by a range of high-end brands, such as Alberta Ferretti, Attico, Diego Dolcini, Emilio Pucci, Giuseppe di Morabito, Missoni, Marni, Moschino and Versace.
The collection will be on sale at the Florence store, on luisaviaroma.com and at the brand’s pop-up store located at New York’s Spring Studios.
From Nov. 5 until the end of the winter holidays, the luxury shopping destination will feature a layout developed by designer and architect Cristina Celestino, who previously worked in collaboration with key fashion players, including Fendi and Sergio Rossi.
In particular, Celestino will re-create the house of an eclectic collector with a focus on the most intimate and personal spaces, including the boudoir, the bedroom and the studio. The space, which will be injected with a charming and cozy Christmas mood, will be decorated with pieces Celestino designed herself or which she selected from the offerings of international labels spanning from Azucena, Fornasetti and Seletti to Bottega Veneta, Emilio Pucci, Etro and Versace’s home

Sabyasachi Unveils L’Oréal Paris, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Collaboration

Designer and Indian celebrity favorite Sabyasachi Mukherjee has dipped into cosmetics with beauty giant L’Oreal Paris, working with actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the 21-piece collection, which is now available for sale online.
While the makeup is positioned as a festive collection, Sabyasachi wrote when debuting the line on Instagram late on Monday evening that he wanted the range to feel classic and simple.
“For me, classic is iconic, because classic is unforgettable,” the designer said. “The whole world is moving towards a state of effective simplicity where classic will lead the way. Makeup will be more about a stronger, lasting identity. A winged black liner with a bold red mouth offset with a simple saree and wind-swept hair is perhaps an iconic Indian beauty look.”

The campaign with Rai Bachchan was shot on July 15 at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Sabyasachi also shared how the look for the look for the packaging came together — inspired by a fountain pen that one of his team was using.

The Great Eros Unveils Third Store for Elevated Innerwear

The Great Eros recently opened its third store, a 600-square-foot unit at 66 Greenwich Avenue in Manhattan’s West Village, which embodies its ethos of comfort and beauty.
“I wanted to create an environment for the clothing to sit in,” said designer and cofounder Christina Viviani. “It’s the intimate experience I felt was missing in retail.”
Viviani’s bras, panties, bustiers and bodysuits are manufactured in Italy at a family-owned factory operated by the third generation. The matte Italian fabric of the Sonata bralette is edged in a custom geometric lace woven by a third-generation lacemaker in Como, Italy. Hang tags for the collection are printed on paper milled in Fabriano, Italy. Talk about attention to detail.
Viviani spent 15 years working in design capacities at Donna Karan and other brands before launching the business with cofounder Emilio Ramirez. She test-drives every product. “I’m a size DD,” she volunteered. “The Great Eros is wearable sensuality in modern, timeless pieces. It’s for a woman who’s dressing for herself. The store is a very safe place for women to explore themselves.”
