Here’s How LeBron James and the Lakers Paid Tribute to the Thousand Oaks Shooting Victims

In the wake of the mass shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, Calif., that claimed the lives of 12 people last week, the Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks paid tribute to the victims with warmup shirts that read “ENOUGH.”

Following in the footsteps of both the Los Angeles Clippers and the Milwaukee Bucks, the two teams wore shirts with “ENOUGH” printed on the front and the 12 victims’ names on the back ahead of their Sunday game at the Staples Center. The names of the victims were also read over the PA system before a moment of silence leading up to the national anthem, according to Uproxx.

Newly minted Laker LeBron James, who previously wore an “I Can’t Breathe” shirt in 2014 in solidarity with protestors rallying against a grand jury’s decision not to indict the police officer involved in the death of Eric Garner, also took to Twitter to express his grief over the shooting.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones last night in Thousand Oaks, CA!!!!” he wrote, adding the hashtag .

Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger Honored Shooting Victims With ‘Stronger Than Hate’ Cleats

Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wore specialized cleats Sunday to pay tribute to the victims of last week’s shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in the city’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood.

The cleats featured a Star of David inside the Steelers logo and were decorated with the words, “Stronger than hate.” Roethlisberger wore the cleats during pregame warmups, then switched to standard cleats during the game against the Baltimore Ravens to avoid an NFL uniform violation.

On Tuesday, Steelers players and staff also attended the funeral of brothers Cecil and David Rosenthal, who were among the 11 victims of the shooting on Oct 27. Michele Rosenthal, the sister of Cecil and David, is the former community relations manager for the Steelers.

Robert Bowers, the suspected gunman, has pleaded not guilty to 44 federal charges that include murder, hate crimes, obstructing the practice of religion and other crimes.

The “Stronger than hate” image has been widely shared on social media.

“It was tough, it was crazy tough, especially with Michele and the closeness we have with her,” Roethlisberger said last Sunday, according to ESPN. “We’re thankful for the victory, but we all understand, there are bigger things, there’s life.”

Alleged Emo ‘Sex Cult’ Leader William Control’s Comeback Attempt Shocks Victims

Facebook

In June, The Daily Beast published allegations from multiple women about former Aiden singer William Francis. The women claimed that Francis, who performs under the moniker William Control, “physically and emotionally abused women, ordered many of them to get matching tattoos of his initials, and even demanded contracts from his sexual partners or ‘slaves,’ signed in their own blood.” As one survivor, Stormie Somers, told The Daily Beast at the time, “What [Francis] considers BDSM—basically he just beats the shit out of you and brainwashes you to believe your sole purpose is to serve him and to worship him and that’s your job.”

“It went from crossing lines of consent to totally physical annihilation.”

Francis denied the accusations, writing in a June 7 statement, “I have, in the past, engaged in heavy role play and bondage relationships WITH consent. However, I do not engage in that sort of play anymore. And for anyone who feels as though I have hurt them or violated their consent, I am sorry. It won’t ever happen again. There are lots of things that have been said that are outright lies. I have never been with underage girls. I have never been involved in a ‘sex cult.’”
