GOP Senate Majority Widens To 6 Seats As Cindy Hyde-Smith Wins Mississippi

In an election turned controversial over her racially charged comments, incumbent Republican Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss., won the Senate run-off in Mississippi against Democratic challenger Mike Espy. With counting almost over, Hyde-Smith won 53.9 percent of the vote compared to 46.1 percent for Espy.
