Taylor Swift was left mortified after talk show host Jimmy Fallon aired a video of her getting emotional about a banana following laser eye surgery.

The pop sensation was taken by surprise when it was revealed that her mother Andrea had captured the footage, taken while she was on strong pain killers, and given it to Jimmy to play on his show.

In the hilarious clip, the Grammy winning songstress can be seen ripping apart a bunch of bananas while wearing protective eye goggles post-surgery, and it could be one of the best celeb moments of this year.

After accidentally tearing off a different banana than she had hoped for, an emotional Taylor whines, “The wasn’t the one I wanted.”

As her mum helps her take the desired banana from the bunch, the Lover hit maker worriedly asks, “What do we do with this one now?

“It doesn’t have a head!”

As she stumbles to bed to munch on her fruity snack, mama Swift can be heard warning her drugged up daughter, “Don’t fall asleep eating your banana, ok?”

Before Tay hilariously hits back, “I’m not asleep. My mind is alive.”

Later a third chipped in, ‘Help this is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.’

Another even praised Taylor for still looking fire while in her post-surgery state, ‘I can’t believe how pretty Taylor is even when she’s drugged up crying over a banana.’

Why I May Never See ‘When They See Us’

I may never see When They See Us, Ava DuVernay’s groundbreaking, disturbing and necessary documentary for Netflix about the Central Park Five saga, one of the worst chapters in New York City’s long tradition of racially biased law enforcement and mass media.

If I were still raising minor children, I’d be watching When They See Us with them, just as my mother required us to watch the groundbreaking Roots miniseries in 1977 (Her oldest child, I was 17 then).

However, I lived through the whole Central Park Five (Raymond Santana, Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray, Yusef Salaam and Korey Wise) media massacre—and the false narrative of young black and brown males “wilding” through the city that it justified—both personally, as a resident of Brooklyn, and professionally as a New York journalist. I’ve reached a stage of my life where I do my best to avoid unnecessarily re-traumatizing experiences.

I’m not saying I’ll never watch the documentary, but… let’s just say that I’m going to protect my mental health and spiritual peace, PERIOD.

The people who most need to watch When They See Us (in addition to young people) are those who are in deepest denial of the racial injustice that contaminates both law enforcement and mass media—which puts the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness of black people, and young black males in particular, at ever present risk.

What made Roots matter was not that it was a revelation for black people (other than us kids at the time), but for white people (including many of my high school classmates) who were ignorant or in denial of the reality of slavery. The same must happen for content like When They See Us if we hope for comparable impact. (By the way, the media currently showering this doc with accolades—and likely to add more than a few well-deserved awards in the future—is the same media that vilified the Central Park Five, and continues to vilify victims of police brutality today.)

As for me, I’ve seen this “movie” too many times. The Scottsboro Boys. The Groveland Four. Jena Six. And countless others too numerous to name. I’ll pass on When They See Us, at least for now.

She’s Back! Watch Katy Perry’s ‘Never Really Over’ Music Video

Ladies and gentlemen, your next summer anthem is here! Katy Perry released her first single in two years, titled “Never Really Over,” at midnight on Friday, May 31.

To celebrate the release, the American Idol judge, 34, participated in a Q&A session, answering questions from fans about her new music. After the live chat, she premiered the colorful music video for the track, which was filmed in a field in Malibu.

“Two years and just like that / My head still takes me back / Thought it was done but I / Guess it’s never really over,” Perry belts during the song’s pre-chorus. “Oh, we were such a mess / But wasn’t it the best? Thought it was done but I / Guess it’s never really over.”

“Never Really Over,” which is co-produced by Perry’s “365” collaborator Zedd, serves as the lead single from the Grammy nominee’s forthcoming sixth studio album. It will be the follow-up to 2017’s Witness, which included the hits “Chained to the Rhythm,” “Bon Appétit” and “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj.

“I worked on this song when I was on tour, and I don’t really do that,” Perry told fans at YouTube Space Los Angeles on Wednesday, March 29. “I brought [Zedd] the song and said, ‘Wow, it sounds amazing.’ Specifically the lyrics in the second verse, which I love: ‘I guess I should try to go to therapy / To try to get you out of my brain / I can’t even go on the internet / Without even checking your name.’”

Samantha Bee Reveals She Was ‘Never in Contention’ to Replace Jon Stewart on ‘The Daily Show’: ‘It Was Awful’

When Jon Stewart announced that he was stepping down as host of The Daily Show in early 2015, there was one name that floated to the top of the list for those whose job it is to wildly speculate about who might succeed him: Samantha Bee.

At that point, Bee had spent 12 years at the show, making her its longest-serving correspondent—a distinction she still holds four years later. John Oliver, who had filled in for Stewart two summers earlier while the host directed his first feature film, would have been a no-brainer as well, but by then he had already been snatched up by HBO for Last Week Tonight. In the eyes of many late-night pundits (myself included) Bee was the obvious choice.

Ramona Singer Would ‘Never Say Never’ To Getting Back Together With Mario!

During a brand new interview, RHONY star Ramona Singer revealed that she and her former husband are in a ‘good place’ these days. As fans remember, the two put an end to their marriage back in 2014 after a shocking cheating scandal.

The reality TV celeb even admitted that she is not a hundred percent against the two of them getting back together.

As you may know, Ramona and her ex, Mario surprised fans when they reunited on RHONY for one episode late last month.

But would they maybe give their romance a second chance?

While chatting with HollywoodLife, Ramona talked about that possibility, saying that ‘Getting divorced wasn’t easy, but you know what? Mario and I are in a good place which you saw on the show. I love him as a person. I settled into that and it’s important to not harbor any animosity towards one person for the other.’

The celeb explained that the main reason why she wants to stay friendly with her ex is that it’s not healthy to have resentments, cheating or not!

It’s just ‘not good for yourself or your heart and soul or your children that you share.’

The two are the co-parents of a 24 year old daughter named Avery.

When asked about whether or not she would consider getting back together, Ramona admitted that ‘We’re friendly and that feels good. You always say never say never but I don’t know. I don’t think so. We’re different people. We want different things.’

So it sounds like resetting their romance is, while not impossible, very unlikely at this point.

Ramona also rejected the idea of the two of them just casually hooking up, saying that she’s too ‘mature’ for that.

You’ll never guess who the new face of L’Oréal Paris is…

loreal paris celine dion

Céline Dion, everyone’s favourite diva, has been named the newest L’Oréal Paris spokesperson and we are all for it.

The five-time Grammy award winner joins the impressive, and not to mention diverse, line up of brand ambassadors that L’Oréal Paris have always advocated. In comparison to other well-know household brands, L’Oréal Paris have always championed the use of older women in their campaigns; Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore to name a few, and Dion joins the roll call at the age of 51.

loreal paris celine dion

L’Oréal Global Brand President, Pierre-Emmanuel Angelogiou, explains why Dion is the perfect fit: ‘Signing Céline Dion as the newest member of the L’Oreal Paris family builds our mission of aligning with spokeswomen who are strong, self-empowered, assertive, diverse and inclusive. Céline Dion is a woman of innate self-worth – following her heart to achieve success, challenge stereotypes and trailblaze the path for so many other women – and fully embodies our brand mission of ‘Because I’m Worth it.”

Dion, who famously does her own makeup for appearances, has been using the brand for years, ‘I really see L’Oréal Paris beyond beauty products, beyond colors, beyond care. You feel confident, whatever your achievement is. You feel feminine and empowered, expressing your inner strength. All of this means we are worth it. We need to give ourselves the credit we deserve.’

loreal paris celine dion

Her L’Oréal Paris partnership comes as she concludes her hit Las Vegas show, where she has been performing for eight years. ‘When you think I’m done, I’m just starting,’ Dion said in an interview with L’Oréal. ‘I’ve never felt so beautiful, strong, and I feel that the best is yet to come. Today is the beginning of the rest of my life and I don’t want to go back in time, I am going forward.’

You can catch Dion’s first TV advert on 22nd April, when it premieres worldwide. She kicks off this next chapter as the face of Excellence Hair Colour.

Joe Biden Defends Himself Against Accusation of Unwanted Kiss: ‘Never Did I Believe I Acted Inappropriately’ But ‘I Will Listen’

Jonathan Ernst

On Sunday morning, former Vice President Joe Biden, who is said to be considering a third bid for the presidency, addressed an allegation that has rattled his campaign-in-waiting and overshadowed other ongoing storylines in the 2020 race to be the Democratic nominee.

“In my many years on the campaign trail and in public life, I have offered countless handshakes, hugs, expressions of affection, support and comfort,” he wrote in a statement issued by his communications team.

The latest statement comes in response to an allegation from Lucy Flores, a former member of the Nevada State Assembly and the Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor in 2014, who wrote in a first-person essay on Friday that Biden had kissed her on the back of her head without her consent, prior to a speech she gave at a campaign rally he attended.

Chicago’s Violence Is an Open Wound That Never Heals

Joshua Lott/Getty

When he was 19 years old, Chicago resident Ramaine Hill was wounded in a drive-by shooting. Ramaine knew who had shot him; it was a local gang banger nicknamed Pinkie, and, defying the law of the streets, Ramaine decided not only to press charges against Pinkie but to testify against him.

That’s when Ramaine’s life took a truly serious turn for the worse. Pinkie copped to a charge of aggravated battery with a firearm, and was sentenced to 15 years. Almost immediately, Ramaine began getting threatening phone calls: “You snitchin.’” “We’re gonna get you.” Some friends of Pinkie’s offered Ramaine money to recant his testimony. There was at least one attempt on his life and an effort to kidnap him.

This went on for two years. One day, on his way to work, a man wearing a red hoodie and red jogging pants popped out behind some brush and shot Ramaine dead. Several people were witness to the murder, and several knew who the killer was. Not one of them cooperated with the police investigation.

Fox’s Pre-recorded Rent: Live Never Lit Its Candle

There are plenty of reasons not to stage a live, nationally televised performance of Rent in 2019. Though inspired by the timeless Puccini opera La Bohème, the 25-year-old story hasn’t exactly aged well—a relic of an era when HIV was presumed to be a death sentence; when selling out was a sin (rather than an impossibility) for young artists; when pop culture rarely made space for LGBT identities; and when a playwright could get away with making two straight, white men the heroes of a show about gentrification and AIDS. Rent’s first screen adaptation, from 2005, flopped, despite reuniting most of the original Broadway cast. Meanwhile, in a reality that would have disturbed Rent‘s DIY-or-die characters, broadcast networks’ recent enthusiasm for live musicals has been more effective at getting viewers to watch TV in real time than at producing good art. To paraphrase the show: This is network television. Bohemia is dead.

But there was a more pressing reason why Fox should have thought twice before airing Rent: Live on Sunday: Toward the end of Saturday’s dress rehearsal, Brennin Hunt, the actor who played the central role of rocker and recovering addict Roger Davis, broke his right foot. There was no understudy. So, instead of postponing the event it had been hyping for months, the network showed mostly dress rehearsal footage—a decision the cast explained in a confusing video that preceded the first commercial break. (At least, I think it was the first break. Full disclosure: I missed the opening 10 minutes of the show due to a brief, mysterious Fox outage that was reported throughout the New York City area.)

Like most musicals, Rent has a simple plot: It’s Christmas in the early 1990s. Roger and his introverted filmmaker roommate Mark (Disney channel alum Jordan Fisher) are desperate for rent money after a run-in with their sellout pal-turned-landlord Benjamin Coffin III (actor and R&B artist Mario), who’s cut their electricity. The racially and sexually diverse bohemian population of their East Village neighborhood rises up in an extremely artsy protest against such greed. And over the year that follows, the guys and their friends have life-shaking encounters with love, sickness and loss.

That story doesn’t leave much room for confusion, yet if I hadn’t known it going in, the jittery cuts, dizzying camera angles and abbreviated spoken dialogue that plagued Rent: Not-So-Live might’ve lost me. Hyperactive editing rarely allowed for a moment’s pause for reaction shots or to let songs sink in. A swooping Steadicam killed the emotional impact of the show’s most melancholy number, “Will I?” Though the relatively sparse stage did improve upon the 2005 film’s bizarre approximation of Alphabet City, its sprawl made for some whiplash-inducing production numbers. Well-intentioned educational asides about the AIDS crisis and about Rent’s creator, Jonathan Larson, who died suddenly on the eve of its Off-Broadway premiere in 1996, detracted from what was happening between the characters.

The cast wasn’t entirely right, either. Kiersey Clemons has won raves for playing characters who are young and still figuring things out in movies like Dope and Hearts Beats Loud. But the 25-year-old actor didn’t have the gravitas of older performers who have played lesbian lawyer Joanne. RuPaul’s Drag Race star Valentina gave her all to the role of Angel—an exuberant drag queen who has Rent’s most wrenching arc—but didn’t have the voice to do justice to tough songs like “Today 4 U” and “I’ll Cover You.” Perhaps because the cast was saving its strength for a live show that barely happened, the only vocal performance that equaled that of the Broadway cast came from Brandon Victor Dixon, the Tony nominee who played radical philosopher Tom Collins. (There’s no matching Idina Menzel, who originated the role of flamboyant performance artist Maureen, but Vanessa Hudgens deserves lots of credit for nailing the character’s big “Over the Moon” solo.)

The transition felt more jarring than it should have when Sunday’s airing finally went live for the final few numbers, as though the actors had abruptly shifted out of autopilot. The return of the Broadway cast for a final “Seasons of Love” reprise added another jolt of energy, even as it heightened the sense that Rent had aged out of relevance and into the realm of nostalgia. And though Hunt did remarkably well for a guy with a freshly broken bone, it wasn’t right that he had to sit on a table with a giant cast on his foot for the duration of his climactic scene. In fact, it was unfair to the whole cast that Fox aired this slapdash substitute for a show about artistic integrity. We’ll never know whether a genuinely live version would have come closer to preserving the urgency of Larson’s beloved musical, but it certainly would’ve had a better excuse for showing so many seams.

College Is For Suckas? You’ll Never Guess How Much Money Amber Rose Makes Off Instagram

The government shutdown had plenty of people considering new career paths with Uber and other creative ways to get by without a regular direct deposit occurring. One person that was clearly unaffected by Trump’s massive temper tantrum is Instagram favorite Amber Rose. The 35-year-old who was once Kanye West’s muse before he drank the Kardashian Kool-Aide recently sat down with Van Lathan as a guest on his podcast “The Red Pill.” Rose who is also affectionately known as “MUVA” shared with Lathan that thanks to Instagram she’s booked and busy and her bank account has no worries.

So how much money does MUVA make in a year? The blonde beauty shared that endorsements for flat tummy teas and popular clothing company, FashionNova as well as other collaborations bring in about a cool $ 2 million per year.

“Probably like $ 2 million a year, just off Instagram.”

While she isn’t exactly living check to check, she did point out that the payout was modest for a social media influencer:

“There’s girls that make more than $ 2 million a year, I make $ 2 million on Instagram a year.”

Like many of us, Lathan took a moment to highlight the millennial student loan-debt struggle sarcastically noting how some went to “college and bought into that bullsh*t, and Amber’s making $ 2 million off Instagram. Wow!” It’s also reported that Rose pocketed $ 4 million from an emoji app she launched in 2014. But MUVA maintains that while she’s been blessed in many ways, ultimately, she feels like the money moves are a result of her being a good person more than anything else:

“I feel like I made it this far by being a really good person.”

“I’m good to everyone I’m around. I treat everyone the same whether it’s a waitress or a driver or anybody. I take care of my team. I’m just a cool, down-home Philly chick.”

As much as I’m inspired by this tale of God’s favor for the fortuitous, I must say that I know plenty of “nice” women who treat those around them with respect that are still playing musical bills every month with their paychecks trying to see how they’re going to pay car insurance AND tuition for their kids. Are we really going to sit here and act like money falls from the sky simply because you acknowledged your Uber driver? Furthermore, as much as I applaud Amber Rose taking making the most out a few minutes of fame (I wouldn’t know who she was had it not been for Kanye), I would really appreciate it if many of these celebs were a little bit more honest about the connections that got them this far in the first place, but I digress.

You can watch Amber Rose discuss coins and congeniality, her thoughts on R. Kelly and her humble beginnings below at around the 1:20:00 mark:
