5 Must-Have Pieces From STORQ For Pregnant Women Trying To Stay Comfy In Quarantine

What have you been wearing in isolation?

You probably have a wide variety of options, and have been showing off your stylish sense of fashion in an array of, say, sweatpants, tights and oversized T-shirts you were gifted by your gym or that you stole from your (ex?) boyfriend. Maybe you’ve just been wrapping yourself in a robe. When you don’t have to put on dress pants and button-down shirts because you’ve been resigned to working from home until further notice, the sky is the limit.

But that is, unless you’re heavily pregnant. If you are, you may not only be stressing about the state of the world you’re preparing to bring a child in, but you may also be struggling with limited sweatpants and tops that are a little too cozy around your bump and growing breasts. You may switch between battling back pain and heartburn , and feeling either way too hot or a tad too chilly all at once. You just want to be comfy while you wait for this pandemic to hit the skids. Is that too much to ask? A company that is helpful in making that fantasy a reality is STORQ. Their maternity fashions, though a tad higher in price than some other brands, are known for being insanely comfortable and well made. They’re a dream for anybody trying to get through first, second or that notoriously uncomfortable third trimester. Check out five must-have options for moms-to-be worth investing in as you try to stay comfy right now around the house. Because while the world is very stressful at the present time for an expectant mom, let the clothes you wear bring you some ease and relaxation.

Note: some of these pieces are actually on sale right now!

Signature Leggings

$ 65

Perhaps the most comfortable piece of all, the signature leggings can be worn as pants all on their own or underneath your favorite long tops and tunics. The jersey knit fabric is super soft, and the panel that fits over the belly is never constricting or uncomfortable. The bottoms fit well at any stage of pregnancy and postpartum.

Maxi Dress

$ 112

Coming in camel, black and hot pink, the long-sleeved maxi dress is made of a soft rayon jersey material that is full length. Be warned though, the dress is a slim fit, so if you’re looking for your usual baggy maxi dress, this isn’t it. However, a big perk of it is that the dress looks good with a growing belly, and without, so it can be a permanent staple in your wardrobe.

This isn’t your grandmother’s slip dress. The light and airy dress is a standout thanks to its silky feel and spacious design. Rock it as a straight neck or a v-neck — it’s up to you, as the dress is reversible in style.

Scientists just froze LEGO pieces to a record-breaking low temperature

lego freezing

Winter is officially here, and the biggest gift-giving day of the year is right around the corner. I don’t know about you, but that sounds to me like the perfect combination for some really, really chilly LEGO blocks. A team of scientists from Lancaster University obviously felt the same way, and they just achieved something that has never been done before: Cooling LEGO pieces to a temperature of minus 273.15 Centigrade.

At that temperature, which is a mere 1.6 millidegrees above absolute zero, a tiny LEGO minifig and a short stack of LEGO bricks survived, making them the coldest LEGO pieces on the planet. The work was published in Scientific Reports.

Polo Ralph Lauren Reissues Archival ’90s Pieces for New Outdoor Capsule

Polo Ralph Lauren has reeled through its expansive archives to find inspiration for its latest capsule — “Polo Sport Outdoor.” The assemblage reinterprets ’90s silhouettes that were originally made for winter outdoor sports.

Across a span of warm layering garments like a billowy poncho, multi-paneled knitwear, a hunter’s vest, tactical nylon pants and hiking boots, the range is bolstered with a series of colorful motifs, some of which are iconic prints taken from old campaigns.

Like what we saw on the poncho back in September, the same vintage print from the 1998 Polo Sportsman campaign has been emblazoned on the fleece-lined zip-up jacket. A “Polo Sport” patch logo is placed at the upper left chest, complete with “Polo Expedition” written vertically across the central panel. Soft brown fleece materials appear along the hood, while blue panels cover the upper shoulders and cuffs to offset the busy design. The green vest is another noteworthy piece that amplifies the utilitarian theme. It comes with multiple flap pockets at the front with silver-toned snap buttons, a contrasting stripe across the mid-body and a sleek black nylon belt to adjust the fit. Other pieces like the knitted pullover, hiking boots and various accessories like bags and hats round up the outdoor capsule.

The Polo Ralph Lauren “Polo Sport Outdoor” capsule will be available on November 14 at ralphlauren.fr.

7 Pieces Of Olive Outerwear Worth The Strain On Your Relationship

It’s been argued that men are, by nature, collectors. That humans have a biological drive to accumulate things, and that drive is stronger in men. It’s even been suggested that men collect things in order to attract mates, to demonstrate their ability to amass resources. I can tell you, as someone with both a mate and a LOT of resources in the forms of clothing, books, and records, these things are not correlated.

In fact, amassing any more resources in those portfolios may well drive my partner away. There’s one category in particular in which I’m a little over-invested: olive outerwear. At last count, I have an olive duffle coat; an olive baracuta-style jacket; an olive work jacket; an olive field/safari jacket; and a commissary’s worth of surplus/vintage: an olive fishtail parka; an olive M-51, an M-65, AND an M-43; an olive wool CPO shirt; an olive flight jacket; TWO olive deck jackets; and an olive peacoat. And yet, I’m still looking at other olive outerwear, and strategizing how I can get it into the house and work it into the wardrobe without my wife noticing.

My olive overabundance is the natural result of years of abiding by the rule: For outerwear, when in doubt, go olive. Navy? Potentially more versatile, but olive has more depth (and to be fair, variation–a lot of shades can be called olive). It’s maybe the perfect complement for indigo tones. Black seems like it would be more broadly wearable, but when I have to choose between black or olive coats and jackets, I’m almost always going olive. With tailoring, especially khakis and tweeds, olive adds a little milsurp edge — think of the legitimately iconic Bruce Boyer image or of mods in big fishtail parkas over angular, trim suits and narrow trousers; with black it offers contrast while still fitting in a sort of “cool guy wandering through a barren dystopia, maybe taking some film photos, I dunno” way. My wife’s a big fan of that vibe. BIG fan.

I narrowed my list of imminently marriage-threatening outerwear down to seven choices this year. These are not military surplus, good deals at flea markets, or surprisingly reasonable. Those would require some counseling, maybe, but not prompt a call to a lawyer.

1. Evan Kinori Bellows pocket coat ($ 525) — Kinori’s designs are simple but elegantly minimal versions of familiar silhouettes, like this cotton twill military jacket differentiated by its oversize pockets. The kind of pockets you can use to justify the jacket to your partner: “Hey, you don’t need to bring a purse, I got it!”

2. S.E.H. Kelly corduroy workcoat (~$ 500) — Similarly, this heavy corduroy jacket (lined… in corduroy!) fits squarely in the fancy workwear category my partner loves so much. You can tell your partner the price in pounds, it’s a smaller number. (pictured at top of post)

3. Fujito wool jungle fatigue jacket ($ 645) — The angled pockets of a jungle jacket but, get this honey, in wool flannel! Available at No Man Walks Alone and Namu Shop.

4. Noah Eisenhower jacket ($ 558) — This shorter, boxy jacket will mix up the silhouettes in your closet, plus, you might be able to convince your significant other you bought a cheaper surplus military piece, not a post-Supreme, New Romantics-riffing jacket made in Italy.

5. Junya Watanabe x ArkAir jacket ($ 665) — Wives and girlfriends love collaborations between designers and practical brands like ArkAir, English makers outerwear for special ops-type military outfits, because you get access to that hard-earned practicality without any of the value. This JW version has more big pockets and a plaid panel on the back.

6. Engineered Garments x Barbour Highland parka ($ 1000) — “Why settle for a normal Bedale when you could get this waxed fishtail parka, which is lined in cozy synthetic pile? I’m serious, why?” – me to my wife when she points out I already have a Barbour jacket.

7. Berg and Berg Nisse Harris Tweed raglan coat ($ 975) — This belted, raglan shoulder coat is technically called bottle green, but the tweed looks olive enough to me. No wait, it’s bottle, I don’t have any bottle green coats. Yet.

After the Netanyahu Fail, What Is Trump’s Israel-Palestine Solution? Let Others Pick Up the Pieces

Thomas Coex/AFP/Getty

TEL AVIV — Israel is now headed to an unprecedented repeat election just weeks after the last poll, and this just as one rather significant foreign visitor, Jared Kushner, arrives in Jerusalem.

While Kushner’s Israel sojourn was scheduled before this most recent domestic political crisis, his decision to go through with the trip was likely meant to send a signal, however implausible, that the Trump administration may still push ahead with the planned release of its Israeli-Palestinian peace plan next month, starting with a regional economic conference in Bahrain.

The so-called “deal of the century” has been termed “dead on arrival” by the Palestinian Authority after a slew of U.S. diplomatic and financial decisions it views as sanctions against it (and benefiting Israel). Palestinian officials intend to boycott the conference, in line with the wider rupturing of their relationship with Washington.

Towanda Finally Reveals The Man Who’s Been Blowing Her Braxton Back To Pieces

Celebrities Visit Hallmark's 'Home & Family'

Source: Paul Archuleta / Getty

The self-proclaimed “responsible one” in the Braxton clan just revealed who her mystery boyfriend is. While many of the other sisters have brought their new men into the fold, Towanda has kept him pretty much hidden off of camera until recently.

On the most recent episode of We TV’s Braxton Family Values, Tamar Braxton finds out that her sister’s man was actually right under the family’s nose the whole time.

In one scene Tamar sits down with producer Sean Hall, cousin of fellow producer, Tricky Stewart, and ties it all together. As Tamar talks with Sean, she slowly realizes that he’s the man her sister has been spending all her time with. The sisters worked with Sean on the 1996 debut album featuring Trina Braxton, Tamar and Towanda, titled, So Many Ways.

The reveal was also under our nose the whole time as Towanda herself posted a photo of her and her bae to Instagram on the same day that the episode aired.

She captioned the photo, “@kingladybug #funcouple #bfv #goodness #cool #happy #peaceful #beautiful.”

Sean also posted a photo of his own of the two enjoying the ski slopes and posted a blog of their good time to YouTube.

Towanda has pretty much kept her new love life under wraps after the public demise of her marriage to Andre Carter. Towanda filed for divorce in 2016, after 12 years of marriage. The divorce was settled in 2017, along with a custody agreement involving the former couple’s children Brooke and Braxton.

We’re happy to see her bask in the glow of love and since the secret is out, maybe we’ll catch more glimpses of the relationship as the season continues.

Louis Vuitton Pulls All Michael Jackson-Themed Pieces From It’s Fall Menswear Collection

Michael Jackson en concert à Rotterdam en 1988

Virgil Abloh paid homage to Michael Jackson during his second Louis Vuitton runway show this past January. It was clear the Abloh, like many others, was influenced by Jackson’s style, music, and overall presence. Since the premiere of the HBO documentary Leaving Neverland, a slew companies have removed the pop icon’s songs, music videos and memorabilia from their respective platforms to show their solidarity with the alleged victims. Abloh and Louis Vuitton have decided to join the movement by pulling all Michael Jackson-themed clothing from their fall menswear collection.

In a statement to WWD, Abloh said, “I am aware that in light of this documentary the show has caused emotional reactions. I strictly condemn any form of child abuse, violence or infringement against any human rights.” In paying homage to Jackson in the collection, he said his “intention for this show was to refer to Michael Jackson as a pop culture artist. It referred only to his public life that we all know and to his legacy that has influenced a whole generation of artists and designers.

This is a bold move considering the entire collection was inspired by the artists. From the show invitations to the background music, it was clear that Jackson was a huge inspiration to the designer. If you’re not familiar with the F/W 2019 collection, take a look at some of the looks that hit the runway.
